The waitress asks if we'd like a cinnamon roll fresh from the oven....such a silly question!I told my husband we could share one!I crack myself up!

Had a great burger that stood up to what I've had at Red Robin. 50's decor and good waitress made a very enjoyable meal. A little pricey, but not any more than you'd expect at RR. Becoming a family favorite with us.

My wife and I have been going to this diner for years now. Always good food and wonderful service!
(5)Janjan R.
Had the veggie omelet. Didn't taste like anything. Had to add salt and ketchup

Met friends here for breakfast, and what a cute place! I love the 50's decor. I had the cinnamon bread French Toast and it was dee-licious. So decadent! Ordered a side of bacon on the side, and it was cooked extra crispy as requested. The other breakfasts looked really good, scrmbled eggs looked really fresh and fluffy, and everything was pretty much on point. I can see this becoming a regular place for us.

This place is fantastic! The food is really good, I love the 50's theme & atmosphere! I had a chicken sandwich with shoestring fries & a chocolate milkshake, all amazing!! The staff was really nice & polite. I am so glad my dad brought me here for lunch today & I can't wait for the next time I go! :)

I came in to Buddy's with a craving for chicken fried steak. My side options were hash browns or home fries, toast or biscuit. The home fries is a potato baked then sliced and fried. I ordered my eggs over easy and they were perfect. The biscuit was huge and moist. I liked the gravy, so I imagine the biscuits and gravy are pretty killer, too. The server was cheery and prompt. My coffee cup was never empty. I'm glad I stopped in. I'll be back for breakfast again and to try their lunch.

The staff is amazing and the food is delicious. It truly does remind you of the old diners only much healthier. You'll love this place.

The food looked good, but once it was in my mouth it was lackluster. My husband and myself both got a basic cheeseburger (medium rare) with cheddar, and hand cut fries. Overall, it was passable, but the bun to meat ratio was horrible, and dry. Very, very dry, which is hard to do with a medium rare burger. I think most of that had to do with the fact that the bun seemed stale to the point of being crumbly. The fries, those were horrible. They were soggy, super brown, limp, and under done - all at the same time. I don't even know how that's possible. The best part of the meal was my coffee, and the fast, friendly service. All in all, okay food if you're in a crunch, but we won't be back if we can help it.

The crew was welcoming and friendly, especially for coming in so late. Burgers, fries and onion rings came quick and cooked to perfection. You wont be disappointed!
(5)Tony N.
Outstanding food and service!!! Best breakfast around. Skip the mainstream and try this place, you won't be disappointed.

Went back for another meal, got HUGE slices of their homemade pies. Pecan was AMAZING, the Cherry Cobbler was SO yummy and the Chocolate mousse was delicious!

I loved it here this morning. Went with my mother and son. He and I shared the maple and bacon stuffed French toast special and my mother had the BLT with the chips. The French toast was really very good and I am so glad my son and I decided to share it. Too much for one as it is really rich. My mothers sandwich looked really good as well. They add quite a bit if good stuff to the BLT. The service was great and sitting outside was lovely. Be ready to eat when you come here.

Great breakfast albeit too much food. It was so good I had to clean my plate. Breakfast special was cinnamon roll french toast, eggs and bacon super delicious and less than 10 dollars with coffee. Just passing through but it will be stop from now on. Easy on &off of freeway.

Five stars for the breakfast ! A special on Sundays is often asparagus crunch (egg/asparagus/spinach and bacon with hollandaise and slivered almonds ). Amazing! And terrific service to boot.

Had dinner with friends tonight. It had been a long time since I had been to Buddy's. After the write up in R/G we decided we needed to return. The food was delicious and the service was great! We all said we would definitely go back. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu that sound really good too.

Great service by Laurie, the atmosphere is bright, even on a rainy day. We had great service and the food was pretty dang good. Try the sweet potato fries, you won't regret it!

Had breakfast here recently and it was pretty damn good. I had been expecting it to be more of a greasy spoon type place than it was and was pleasantly surprised. The hashbrowns were not soggy with oil, the omelette was exactly as I ordered, and I feel that the portion size of my meal was not absurdly huge. My bacon was extra crispy, as order, and it was perfect. I did see a plate of biscuits and gravy go by, and holy cow.......it was enormous. I don't know if that was the regular size, but it could have fed me for three days. My other half had an omelette, and cinnamon roll, which although he enjoyed, it was swimming in frosting and he was scraping it off. Still, we'll probably be back.

Ok....so we went for breakfast this morning. Had to do a second visit for a different meal. They were very busy so we sat outside. Missed all 50s kitch from sitting inside but I'll live! We ordered.... Eggs, sausage and hashbrowns with a side of biscuit and gravy. Egg over easy were very easy! Too much runny whites for me. A little is ok....but this was swimming. Next time over medium. Sausage was very tasty! Hashbrown cooked perfectly. The gravy had a nice flavor. The biscuit though was tougher than last time. Waffles with bacon and eggs. Waffles were heavy for a Belgian style. Scrambled eggs were nice and the bacon super tasty! French Toast. Solid! Tasty and great texture! Pancakes were tasty. Nothing outrageously special but good. My daughter order the same egg, ham and cheese scramble with home fries and biscuit. While the egg and ham was still good....the home fries were nothing like we had the other night. Not the same flavor. And again...the biscuit tasted like it was made by a construction worker. Dense and tough. I would rather rate it 3.5 stars. Great service! Super friendly both times!!! The food, while inconsistent, still good and tasty over all. We still need to go back for their milk shakes!

I've seen this lil Diner for years, never made it here till last Friday. I wanted to get Biscuits and Gravy for breakfast, and since this was close by, I thought what the hell! The Diner is cool, themed just like a 50's style Diner would be, which is one of the stars in my rating. It didn't take long for my food, then again its B&G. They never take too long considering a pot of gravy and some biscuits that need a lil love are always on hand. I found the portion size to be great, the Biscuits were large, fluffy, not flakey...and the Gravy was Z z Z z Zz borring. Gravy is to Biscuits : Air is to Breathing ***Let this be known*** A simple country gravy and a simple biscuit will lead to a simple dish. I really think they needed to use a sausage gravy, or do something else with what they have so there's a little bit more dimension to it. If you fail the gravy, you fail the B&G. Service was the other star, everyone working was in a good mood and being friendly. I just cant award anymore stars to Buddy's until I try something that blows me away, and I have a funny feeling I wont be giving them another shot....I mean damn, you failed the B&G....a rather simple breakfast fave. Dont know if I want to brave anything else.

Decent, but nothing that really makes me look forward to going there again. The 50's deco is pretty amusing, and I've got to say that I was pleasantly surprised to be reminded of the hair gel Dippity Do by the magazine ads under the glass table covering. Aside from that, it was pretty much standard diner fare. I got the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were super fluffy and totally smothered in gravy, making for a rather large plate when eggs, bacon and toast were also on the table. I wasn't all that impressed though. Points for the volume of the food, but the biscuits and gravy were just bland. I could taste buttermilk, salt, and pepper, but there just wasn't anything to give it that extra oomph that I usually expect from gravy in augmenting whatever it's poured over. The service was neither great nor terrible. We got what we requested, and the waitress did her job in that she was attentive although indifferent. No big deal. On second thought, I may end up trying again at some point as it's pretty conveniently located, and I'm sure there's got to be something on the menu that I'd be into. My first impression wasn't that memorable though.

Buddy's is a great place to stop in & grab a bite to eat. It's not just one thing that makes this place great. OK, the food is mediocre, but the decor & constant flow of regulars (old timers) coming in & out make for an interesting meal. I like to stop in for breakfast & the server is real nice & knows all the regulars. I love that they offer flavored creamer too. The burgers are nice & greasy & the shakes are amazing. The kids baskets come in these cool cardboard car baskets that the kids get to keep. It's a nice touch & adds to the kick ass 50's theme.

Love this place! I usually get the best service, and let me tell you I go here AT LEAST once a week. Their food is delicious, and so are their milkshakes. Some of the waiters are very friendly. My mom and I had the older woman and she seemed to be very racist, and she was very rude and gave us horrible service. Other than that, this is a good place.
(4)Bill D.
Been here a few times and have always had the All Shook Up which is diced ham eggs with home style spuds and a biscuit. Always cooked perfectly. I also have a vanilla shake every time but the last when I got wild and had a strawberry shake. YUM! This place gets busy at time and the only big draw back is the venting system and you can leave smelling a little bit like a French fry. Other than that, a great place to eat with a usually great staff.

I don't understand other people's bad ratings. Excellent diner type atmosphere. The owner and waitress appeared to really care about your dining experience. Only one waitress for the dozen tables. Did an excellent job, very busy and keeps on moving. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone interested in classic American food.
(5)Katy W.
Enjoyed the atmosphere! Loved the fifties feel! I dug their Philly cheese stake sandwich and their shakes!
(4)Jenna C.
This place was fantastic. The whole theme was adorable and the customer service was amazing! I will definitely come again soon.

I might have to go back during regular lunch and dinner hours but this place so far was just ok. I got the jalapeno burger and my husband had Philly. Kid had pb and j. The fillings were tasty but the burger bun was stale and Philly bun was soggy. Fries were really good. Not a lot of people in there since it was like 3:00. Waitresses were friendly but kept having loud conversations with themselves and other customers. It would have been nice I'd they kept there voices down so that we could have our own conversations at our table. It was super annoying. They were talking about how big other pregnant girls were and how they gained to much weight. I'm 8 months pregnant and really did not want to hear it. Really uncomfortable convo that I was forced to listen to by diner staff.

Sad to see some low ratings recently. We've had great service and food every time we have dined here. The good: They seem to make a lot of menu items fresh/on site and you can definitely taste the difference. I appreciate that they source better bread for their burgers and sandwiches. Service is attentive, sincere and always a pleasant experience. The less-than-good: Fries, while hand cut, could be crispier, but that's a fairly common problem. Condiments are run of the mill/bottled which, while the familiar might be comforting to some patrons, seems like a missed opportunity to really elevate their burgers and sandwiches to a higher level. Bottom line: It's great diner food at an average price. It blows doors on a lot of other places and I would encourage others to eat here.

The food is so good, I damn near went cross-eyed. The staff is excellent and made us feel at home.

I loved going to Buddy's. The atmosphere was awesome. Made me feel at home! The other guests were all regulars that I was sitting around. I went in alone. Hungry before work. :) The service was very genuine, friendly but not too friendly. The food was pretty darn good too. I enjoyed every bite of my food. Now I have a full belly and ready to get to work. Will definitely return for more visits. Thanks Buddy's!

I had a Reuben and it was nothing amazing, very standard. For my side I had potato salad that tasted very, blah. The burger was simple, they have many different ones that sound good but are nothing extraordinary. The milkshake was very good. Chocolate peanut butter banana was a winning combo! 50 cents extra for the banana. Service was standard, nothing bad, nothing good. Buddy's won't wow you, but if you want a simple meal it's worth a try for a diner.
(3)Kristin C.
Stopped in on Sunday for a burger with friends. Good burger, cooked well! The bun was tasty, and the fries were good as well. Lots of people getting the all day breakfast, and cinnamon rolls, and it all looked good. My friends got milkshakes, and I'm super disappointed that I didn't! The milkshakes are amazing! I can't wait to go back and get a chocolate banana shake! There isn't a lot of seating, but it's definitely worth a visit for good diner food, friendly staff, and reasonable prices!

Service with a smile but food that is sub par diner food. Confirmed that the english muffins (for Eggs Benedict) was toasted. They were not, they could at least do it how it is stated in their menu. Coffee was terrible.

3 Breakfast trips...here we go: Trip 1....we eventually bussed our own table after we had stood and waited with awkward looks from diners and waiting staff alike for roughly twenty minutes just to sit while there were several vacant but dirty tables. Very odd. Typically we would've walked, we didn't. Breakfast OK....slow service...I had to ask for coffee as it wasn't offered. Trip 2...Buddy in town..wants to try before golf. I tell him prior gig and he says to give it another try. Breakfast better this time though gravy over CFS is bland, better service though..even got coffee and refills. Trip 3...family trip for breakfast, no complaints...service, food all good-ish. Three stars for uneven service, bussing own table and food that is pretty unremarkable to goodish. Nice interior though, love the idea of a classic diner.

I used to love buddy's and I'm not sure what happened. The last two times I went in the waitresses were totally uninterested and I even had to walk up to the counter just to get a refill and to go box. Horrible service to say the least. The food is alright nothing great, but the service is what did it for me. I have no interest in ever going back and would not recommend this place to anyone!
(2)Lisa V.
Good eggs. Makes my tummy happy. Over the years I've been many times and only had one bad meal there. And when I conveyed that it was sub par was given a huge discount. I appreciate going in and seeing the same people working for many years. That's a sign of a good business.

Buddy's seems wildly popular with Eugene's senior population. I'm not sure I've ever seen a customer (or employee) who's not retirement age or older. But I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Buddy's. My husband loves to go, for some inexplicable reason. Perhaps it's the whole nostalgia-diner atmosphere that he likes, or the old fashioned American fare. For me, the quality just isn't there. Admittedly, I usually only get a plain grilled cheese sandwich with a milkshake, and it's okay, but nothing special. The rest of the menu doesn't appeal to me, it's fairly simple and limited, and I'm not a burger person. I did try the scrambled eggs once, but found them a little watery and fake-egg like. Not good, not good at all. Perhaps I'll try something difference at Buddy's next time, but as it stands, I wouldn't recommend this diner unless you love 'old-time' diners. (even then, go to Addi's in Springfield)
(2)Barbara C.
We always get a good meal at buddy's. I had a French dip with Cole slaw and my companion had a chili burger with shoe string fries very good we both had shakes which were awesome
(5)Anton Z.
I love Buddy's Diner. The Kitsch decor is cool too but the Philly Cheese Sandwiches are the best I've eaten -- including the ones in Philly when I was stationed in Jersey! Combine it with the ol-timey handmade milkshakes served in the stainless steel mixing container and it doesn't get any better. When I'm in Eugene, I always try to stop by here and if I have company, I definitely turn them on to it as well. My girlfriend and I recently had the philly cheesesteak and split one. We were stuffed. The service was great, no complaint about splitting the meal and they even served it with two plates, two sets of silver and the shake in two separate malt glasses at no extra charge! I would have given this a 5 star rating but I've never given one of those yet so 4 is the best there is for me so far.
