I went there for lunch during my visit to Corvallis and the food was great for the price. The rolls taste fresh and I agree, I'm in love with the Beaver Roll too. Now I know why everyone goes there, will be going there again very soon.
(4)Amanda K.
As a student I recommend that you always call your order before you get there. Even if your going to eat there. I LOVE there Beaver Roll. It's basically amazing. Kind of spendy but it's very close to campus so it's super convient if you want sushi between class!
(3)Yun M.
I can make better teriyaki bowls than the cook in Shogun's kitchen. The owner at the front table is kinda emotionless. Not great experiences overall.

Great place in corvallis! Food is great and the prices are great.

When I went to Shogun Bowl, I tried the sushi tempura platter. I think it might have been called something else, but I can't remember the name right now. Regardless, it was delicious. It was cooked well and was served very quickly. It also came with some miso soup, which was equally delicious. I remember having a rough day the day we went, so the food was exactly what I needed. I highly recommend going here.
(4)Kristin K.
Friday I went had lunch here for the first time in a long time. I had a pork teriyaki bento. I like the bentos because besides that main dish and the rice, you get sushi, gyozi (deep fried wontons), and miso soup.
(4)Jason F.
They have the best tofu in town. The prices are reasonable and the wait time is usually pretty short. I do wish they would include more carrots in the teriyaki bowls (maybe they could make room for it by removing some of the rice). Also not a huge fan of the extra charge for using a card.
(4)Shawna L.
price is good but the quality of the food is ok. when I do go there to eat I usually get the combo w/ udon, gyoza, & California roll. the udon & gyoza is good, but the sushi is mediocre. but friendly staff & fast service
(3)Chris F.
Not too shabby for a lunch place. I must admit though, it usually kind of smells funny in there, like chemicals perhaps. Could be a little cleaner too but its tolerable I guess. I like the chicken yakisoba, my friends tend to think the sushi is acceptable. Do not go there if you are in a hurry, seriously. Especially if you go around lunch time. Every time I have gone there with a time constraint I have left feeling like I want to kick puppies. Or something. yeah... o.O
(3)Alexis R.
I love shogun! The Shogun roll is to DIE for!!!!!! The ginger fried chicken is really good too, however the wait is a little longer than a sushi roll. The family that runs this restaurant is very sweet, and if you are a regular they remember you and appreciate your business. For fast and cheap sushi this is the only place to go!
(4)Jason K.
It's cheap and has huge portions, but I didn't really find it too appealing. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl to find that not only was the chicken fatty, but it looked to be boiled and chopped instead of grilled as I expected. The teriyaki sauce was rather bland and the veggies were way overcooked until they were as limp as Bob Dole's handshake. The rice wasn't even really very good. Kinda made me sad.
(2)Emily S.
The greasy spoon version of sushi. The rolls themselves aren't the best in corvallis (that title still goes to Tokyo steakhouse), but it's a great price for the quality. I wouldn't recommend the bento bowls, though. But the miso and all of the rolls I've had are excellent. (The spicy tuna and shrimp tempura are personal favorites).

Friendly and courteous staff, unbeatable prices. You can get a large meal with leftovers for under $10 so perfect for college students. I was pleasantly surprised by the sushi, though it wasn't the best, it was absolutely delicious. The yakisoba and teriyaki bowls are great too. Although I'm not impressed with the ramen so I wouldn't recommend it. It was lacking flavor and the noodles were too soggy for my liking, hence why I've only given 4 stars. But other than that I love everything else I've had here and will continue to be a customer.

I wouldn't have tried so much of their food if it wasn't for its convenient location. Their sushi rolls are really small and there aren't that many options. I would say some of their food is overpriced considering the terrible ingredients they use. Like for instance, the teriyaki bowl was absolutely terrible. The chicken was such bad quality it had a lot of fat and I couldn't tell what I was eating. I barely ate half of it and then I couldn't anymore. The staff is okay. The man is way nicer than the lady who gave me attitude when she had made a mistake. I asked for a cup of water, she handed me a plastic cup so I filled it up with water. Next thing I know she's rolling her eyes at me for accepting the cup she gave me. Apparently this cup was the one you had to pay for. I tried giving it back to her and showed her that it was just filled with water, but she shook her head and told me that she couldn't use it anymore. She was very angry at me so I actually ended up paying for the cup since I don't feel comfortable when adults give me such angry looks. I don't recommend this place to anyone unless you can't drive to another sushi restaurant & you're really craving some sushi & you're okay with it not being good quality.

Visited Shogun Bowl based on Yelp reviews, and alas we were disappointed. There was an odd "bathroom soap" smell that interfered with the food, so ambiance could use some work. When asked if there was any gluten free tamari, staff said "yes, spicy mayo?". I clarified with gluten free soy sauce and was told that no, they did not have any. The miso soup was good. We ordered a vegetable roll, spicy tuna roll, and unagi roll. The veggie roll was OK - would have been better with that tamari and wasabi, alas. Spicy tuna was spicy! So kudos to Shogun for delivering on that! My husband reported the unagi roll was not at all satisfactory, and for some reason the ginger on his plate tasted bad. I may visit again to test some of the other dishes and see if soups are still good.
(2)Matt D.
Great food, generous portions, and great customer service. I was shortchanged about $10 and didn't count until I got home with my food but when I noticed the mistake I called them back and they were happy to correct the problem. Good people.
(5)Shan L.
The staff is very friendly, and I assume it's family owned. However, I was not a huge fan of the food. I eat a lot of Asian foods and this seemed like a cheap take on Chinese food. The bits of chicken in my fried rice were small (!) and there was a lot of sesame seeds on it. Also, the peanut vinaigrette on the salad sounds like a great idea, but it was too much vinaigrette and not enough peanut butter. The good wasn't BAD, but I don't think I would eat there agin unless I had a very specific craving.
(2)Andrew Q.
Seems like pretty standard quality for a college town food place, which is to say not very good at all. Their rice in the bento boxes is too sticky, the sushi is a bit boring, and the salmon teriyaki tasted neither like good salmon nor good teriyaki. The fish just felt dried out, which should be difficult with fresh salmon. Disappointing. Sort of reminds me of the cheap Chinese fast-food places, since you order at the counter and seat yourself. Quality of food is pretty on par with that as well.
(2)Jake D.
I recently ordered a Chicken Terriyaki bowl for $5.50 (+ .35 card charge), which was well worth the price - great portions and great taste. The woman working at the counter was more than courteous, as she showed me the difference between the regular and large size. I'm fortunate that she took the time to show me the difference, because I definitely feel like the large would've been too much. For those of you who are fans of the Local Boyz shoyu chicken combo ("5"), go to Shogun Bowl more often than not - you're going to save $3 for something that is essentially the same thing. Will be back!
(4)Shoe T.
Decent. Price effective. Russian roulette quality. Poor service. I've came here tons, like a good 20+ times and still feel no appreciation from the owners. You DO get a hearty amount of food for the amount of money but you arent guaranteed to be satisfied because honestly half the time is feels like it's half assed (but it IS "cheap" sushi) But when you really think about it you are spending 9 dollars usually on a meal.
(2)Hannah J.
I freaking love this place. A favorite when I went to OSU and when I come to corvallis I always stop here. The owners are so nice and know my order by heart. Their fried shrimp tempura roll is absolutely delicious. THANKS FOR BEING AWESOME
(5)Aditya A.
I'll keep this short. I have only tried two things here: chicken and tofu bowl and chicken karaage. I love the tofu with chicken. It's deep fried soft tofu and it's really tasty. With Siracha and the pickled ginger, it's perfect. And the fried chicken is fried really well. Portions are generous. I always have leftovers. And they accept credit cards and don't charge for Siracha like that other place down Monroe. Mom and pop's place with good food and reasonable price.
(5)Tim B.
I am so glad we have Shogun Bowl here in Corvallis. I eat here one to two times each week either spicy chicken ramen or udon. Both are delicious and I cannot find better in Albany or Corvallis. You gotta try this place if your near campus, so good...
(5)Isay S.
Great sushi right off campus! Definitely try one of their deep fried rolls, or tempura udon soup. Add a cup of miso soup for $1.25. Tea is free

My friend and I came here for dinner one freezing Wednesday night. I was definitely not used to the whole order from a register, pick up your food, get your own utensils, and clear your own tables deal so he literally had to talk me through it. Haha. I ordered a California Roll and a Shrimp Tempura Roll. The cashier (maybe owner?) was soooo nice. She told me I could get it in a combo for cheaper and it would come with free miso soup! I love when restaurants don't try to nickel and dime you. I think it was around $7.45. The food came out pretty fast. The rolls were decently sized. I was really full after finishing everything but the seaweed they used was stale so it was really hard to eat the rolls. Also the shrimp tempura wasn't even crunchy and there is nothing I hate more than stale deep fried food. What is the point???? My friend kept spitting out parts of his Teriyaki Bowl. He tried guessing what it was. Tendons? Fatty meat? Bones? He was not happy with the meat to rice ratio either. A lot of people don't like this place. I didn't find that out until after. Haha. I probably still would come here again just because of how cheap it is and the fact that I don't know anywhere else near me that sells sushi.
(2)Vivi L.
I come here a couple times a week just because it's convenient for me and close to my classes. First time I went I tried the chicken teriyaki bowl. The price for the whole thing was alright. I paid like $8.50 for the rice bowl, chicken, miso soup and inari. The chicken wasn't that great. It was alright. There was something wrong with it, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it can be a bit more tender? The next time I went I got the tofu rice bowl/inari combination. The tofu had a grainy taste to it. It was alright as well. For the food and price it's alright. I'm not sure how I feel about spending $8+ dollars on a meal that's loaded with carbs. It's a carb fest... Forgot to mention that. The store is also small for the amount of people that come in. You can expect not to get seating during lunch or busy hours...
