Overpriced mediocre food. Not worth waiting over half an hour to get served.

I was sold on coming here just because I read about the French toast made of a cinnamon roll. I came expecting to wait and have bad service because of the reviews I read and had neither. Abi was our server and a very good one! She was sweet, came and checked on us several times. I'm a new fan of this place and would definitely come here again!

That's was very good, however you have to wait for a long time before getting your meal. The place is little beat loud even though there isn't that much people.

50 minutes to get our order! Do not order shirred eggs! Twice now it was a hard boiled egg in a lot of water.

I don't get to eat here very often because of the hours they're open (or closed, I should say), but it's always a treat. I'm only updating my review because I can't believe the people griping about the service being slow. It's slow because this is a small restaurant making everything from scratch. They aren't microwaving prepackaged food like Applebees. I chose Sam's Station for lunch today because I was meeting a friend I haven't seen in a while, and I knew we'd be able to linger. Sure enough, three hours later, we finally left, full of delicious soup and sandwiches. They always bring a little baked treat out with the check, which is a good way to sucker you into buying dessert. I would rather wait longer for my food than have an impatient waitress ask me how I'm doing every five minutes. Definitely try their soup/sandwich combo. I haven't had bad soup here yet. But don't come here if you need to eat and run, because it takes time to prepare really good food.

Have been eating here for a while and sadly will not be coming back. Took the family out for breakfast and waited 50 minutes for food to hit our table after the orders were taken. Coffee came fast, but after fifteen minutes of looking at my empty cup, I had to approach the counter to request more for me and others. Service has always been slow here, but this set a record. When food finally came, salad dressing that was ordered did not appear until 5 minutes later, and the condiments requested did not appear at all until I made an additional request. Post-meal, the check still did not arrive promptly until I went to the counter, again, to ask to pay on the spot. 'Well, it must have been busy,' some would say. Midway through our 50 minute wait, however, there were five open tables at one point, and all of them were never filled up during our stay. A family near us, who were seated just after we were, still had not received their food after we'd already got ours, ate, and left. Perhaps they never did. I've eaten at great restaurants. Busy restaurants. Popular restaurants. They've often bee packed and, if the place is well run, there's never much of a wait once seated. I will say the wait staff was very nice, friendly, and pleasant. I blame management here. The food was good, so no complaint there, but hardly gourmet. It strikes me, however, that a two egg breakfast should go for something under $15 a plate. There used to be less expensive and basic items on the menu, but those are gone with a recent menu change. I blame lack of competition for some of this, for if a place opened across the street that got the basics right: good food, decent value, and prompt service, then Sam's would fold in a hurry as they approach the first but fail in the last two outright. Finally, I approached the manager (owner?) to tell her of our experience, her response in its entirety was "OK." If that was my response to a courteous and honest customer who offered a respectful but dissatisfied critique of their experience, I'd have been fired from any job I've held. What that communicated to me was that she feels she can serve any pedestrian fare she pleases, price it as if gourmet, and make the customer wait nearly an hour, to boot. My response? There are plenty of other breakfast joints in town that serve decent food, don't overcharge, and serve it up in a fraction of the time; I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Sam's has made some changes recently and it has not been for the better. They have taken multiple items off of their menu and ordering is confusing now. Their drinks are not included on their basic menu. They also took out the cute little archway that was in the parking lot on the corner. Sam's had a good thing going. They should not have made all these changes. The change has definitely been for the worse.

Had brunch at Sam's yesterday with two girlfriends. The food was excellent, the service was very slow. If you are in no hurry, then all is good, provided you are not waiting for a table. The fried potatoes are awesome! The "Matts favorite" was also excellent (potatoes, sausage, pineapple and fried eggs). I don't know that I would have liked the shirred eggs, but my friend said they were good. The French toast was made with sliced up cinnamon rolls, and looked like a flat version of monkey bread. They also had just plain eggs, meat and toast for $8. The baked goods have been good in the past, we didn't sample more than a quarter of a snicker doodle (good!) this visit.

RUN. Run far away, this place is TERRIBLE!!!!!! I've had bad service, but this was just ridiculous. We were a party of six and ordered a couple of salads, sandwiches, soups, and one Eggs Benedict, and several coffee drinks. Twenty minutes later, we were told they're out of pastrami, english muffins for the egg's benedict, and roast beef. The folks in our party settle for something else. We ended up waiting AN HOUR AND A HALF for our food that was mediocre at best. How does soup, salads, eggs, and sandwiches take that long? I honestly thought we were on a TV prank show. One of the people I was with had hyperglycemia and was almost passed out because his blood sugar was so low-- I had to give him gum because nothing was on the table. They are so lucky he didn't faint or anything. Another friend I was with had her sandwich delivered and the waitress said it was made wrong, takes it back, only to bring the same plate back five minutes later. The chicken salad sandwich was more or less bread, lettuce, and a thin layer of mayonnaise heavy chicken salad. When our check came, the waitress made no apology and nothing was comped. I went in with a few others and the owner/manager/old lady with an attitude that was at the register basically just blinked and said "what do you want me to do?" Something tells me if we were ten or twenty years older we would have been treated differently. Again, no apology they started making excuses and said "We're a small establishment" "It's a Sunday, our busiest day" "You came during the Church Rush" um, I've worked in food service at small establishments--- this is UNACCEPTABLE. You don't make excuses to the customer and give them attitude. You own up to the fact that your service is rotten and the food is OK at best. When all is said and done, they took off the coffees and two sandwiches. Big deal. If I wasn't with friends I would have left after waiting 20 minutes and wouldn't have given them a cent. There are so many other places in the area, please whatever you do don't waste your time or money here.

Service was very slow, just shy of a hour from ordering till we got our food. Price is just okay. Do not order steak and eggs dish! Two thin strips of steak, you might as well just ask for two sausages instead.
(2)Andrea S.
My waitress was so sweet and very on top of my needs. She gets an A+ on her interpersonal skills. It didn't hurt that she got my order right AND that it was FABULOUS. Though they manage to keep their menu pure & traditional, it was obvious there is no such thing here as "just" a turkey sandwich.

Big fan of this place. Wait staff is on point and perfectly witty and charming for a brunch spot. Who wants either flat or uptight for breakfast or brunch? If mimosa was a personality these chicks would have it. Ordered apple and sausage omelet sans sausage and it was terrific.

Fun place. Nice atmosphere. Good-tasting food but overpriced. Have seen the owner yell at his employees on three separate occasions. Good service otherwise.

We are in town for a baseball tournament and found this place through the suggestion of our B & B owner. Very cute, friendly place with a nice and varied breakfast menu. I had the spinach scramble and my husband had the oatmeal. Spinach scramble was a beautiful presentation and a nice variation on traditional scrambled eggs. My husband's oatmeal was hot, fresh, homemade and with a nice variety of toppings. The reason for the 3 instead of four was the service, though extremely friendly, was slow. We ordered water and coffee and I had a latte. 5-7 minutes later I had my latte but my husband waited till we had our water and then came out his drip coffee. Same wait for a refill. Also, my husband is a big pancake fan and though they offer a dutch baby type of pancake there is no traditional types on the menu.

Well. It Took them 45 mins (not exaggerating) to get us coffee and tea - yes hot water and a tea packet. Then they ran out of items and didn't let us know - just brought our food out, after over an hour had passed with substitute items. Poor employees were under staffed.

The breakfast I had here was one of the best in my life. The French toast is amazing! The service is a little slow and it's quite crowded on the weekends (mornings especially with the rush) but the food is definitely worth the wait. They also have some great sides/additions. I had some white Tillamook cheddar on my eggs, yum!
(4)Paul B.
Hard to rate a meal I never got. I waited forty minutes for two eggs and toast. Seriously, it takes over forty minutes to fry an egg and make two slices of toast?! We walked out. We were not even offered an apology. Inexcusable.

Best muffins, scones, and cinnamon rolls in town. Great coffee. Cute place to hang out--one of my favorite spaces to hang out in Corvallis. Best breakfast in town, without a doubt. If you are coming for breakfast then it's best to come when you are wanting a calm leisurely breakfast because it can take some time for the food to be prepared but it is worth the wait. I wish they were open into the evening but they tried it at least twice in the past, and I guess it doesn't work out for them to stay open late. I love that it is a neighborhood coffee shop with co-op across the street. Nice family owned business started by a brother and his wife and sister.

Sam's Station is a hard one for me to review. The food is delicious. The potatoes are especially good (and unlike some other breakfast places in Corvallis, they are homemade, not out of a bag). The baked goods are excellent. The portions are just about perfect -- not too huge, but not stingy. The service isn't great. I've never had anyone be rude, but they are often not very attentive and I have had to wait for coffee refills many times. Also, one weird thing: when you order toast with your meal, they bring the teeniest little cup of jam I've ever seen. It's *maybe* a teaspoon. OK, it could be a tablespoon. But it's not nearly enough for two pieces of toast. So, if you order toast, ask for extra jam, because if you have to ask for it after your meal comes, you'll be waiting. One thing I love is that when they bring your check, they bring little bits of pastry with it (samples of their many muffins and breads). It's a nice touch.

best brunch in corvallis! i ordered ammies favorite and the rasberry salad. :) i went there twice already and can't wait to visit again.

Terrible service! Not busy but I had to track the server down to refill our coffee after waiting for nearly 20 minutes. When I asked if they could make accommodation for a vegan diet I got a funny look an was told no, even though they had tofu and veggies. So unreasonable.

My wife and I ate at Sam's Station for breakfast this morning. When we entered the restaurant we were meant with the wonderful smells of fresh baked bread. We were greeted by two friendly servers. We were quickly shown to our table and very soon coffee and water arrived. The orange juice I ordered was clearly freshy squeezed. The coffee was wonderful and came steamy hot in large cups. The breakfast was great! Other than our eggs being overcooked, the potatoes and English muffins were wonderful. I took the advice from this site and ordered some extra jam, which was brought with our meal. We had to wait a bit to have our coffee replenished. The restaurant is bright with a lot of natural light and appeared to be immaculately clean. We interacted with two different servers and another person who brought us our coffee. All were very friendly and asked how we were doing. Breakfast is served until closing at 3:00 PM, which was welcome, as that is the meal we desired. There were probably 10 or so people eating lunch. The food was great and the staff friendly. The bread smelled so good, we brought a loaf along with some muffins. The bread was very warm and smelled great all of the way home. Sam's, we are fans. We shall return.

Hit or miss. The food is usually pretty good but service suffers when its busy; as well you may not like where you are sat. Seems to be closed more days than it is open.

Best breakfast in town. The food is wonderful. Service can be a little slow, perhaps based on the equipment available; for instance, they can only prep one espresso drink at a time. Servers are very courteous, though not as chatty as those found in other Corvallis restaurants. Sam herself has even been known to crack a smile when helping customers. This restaurant closes at 2:00 PM on weekends and is closed on Mondays.

Been here twice. Once for Lunch and once for morning coffee and a muffin. Morning coffee and a muffin - Wonderful. Had a specialty mocha and it was delightful. The muffin was excellent. The person behind the counter taking my order was ok, it was slow and there was plenty of time to be friendly but the whole transaction from taking my order to giving me my change was very flat and dull. Lunch - Had a excellent pastrami sandwich. You have the option of a half or a whole, well.... A whole is actually 2 sandwiches! Plenty to fill me up for lunch and take some to go. =) But again, the service left me with a bad taste in my mouth. At the table was ok, not great but ok, but as my co-workers and I walked out, we said thanks and bye to our server who was at the espresso machine and her response was, "yup", in a flat tone without even looking at us. Really? We are not bad tippers and even if we were, that isn't cool....

I live very close to Sam's Station so I eat there reasonably often. It should be rated in the top 10 for breakfast or brunch. Their omelette and other breakfast dishes are terrific. My only complaint is that the service is very slow. Kristi K.

Sam's Station is in a former gas station. Unlike your typical coffee shop, you get seated by your server. There's artwork, so it's slightly artsy... not as artsy as New Morning Bakery or Interzone. It has a neighborhood feel, in an odd spot in between homes,a gardening store, and a co-op. It's always clean&nice. It's an okay place to go. It's a bit expensive, but they've got joe!

Service was great. Our server was funny as sh*t. French toast was bomb. It was basically cinnamon roll chunks with some syrup. Eggs Benedict was quite delicious. Get the hollandaise on the side though. Had a slight chlorine taste. Fruit cup it came with was also superb. Coffee cups are big allowing for optimal consumption. Nice outdoor seating.

Food was good, the coffee was good, and the ambiance was nice - but sadly I will probably never eat here again. We stopped in for lunch and were served by someone who I'm guessing was a new employee. The service was completely acceptable, what I could not stand however was the manager verbally berating the server who was serving us. The atmosphere of the entire meal was ruined and the experience was bad enough that my wife and I will not be returning customers.

My mentor teacher introduced me to this place while I was doing my student teaching in her classroom. It is delicious. They have great lentil soup and delicious breakfast food. I would also go to get their homemade muffins...yum!

Went here for lunch. Its a nice cozy place and the food was good. Service was friendly but a bit slow and inattentive.
(4)Stephanie K.
While the older lady behind the counter may not be the sweetest person on earth, the other employees more than make up for it. Huge servings at reasonable prices and the best tea out there called Evening in Missoula. I stop by at least once a week to get my tea on.

I would have to say, if you catch them on a good day it is probably the best breakfast in town (that I've tried). However, they do get a little hectic on the weekends and the service can lapse. Great coffee. I really like their Cafe Au Lait. Yummy pastries & muffins (morning glory is my favorite if they have it). Nice sized portions and tasty food. If you go on a weekend-try to get there before around 9-9:30 and you should be golden.
