High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. Ah applebees, your oversalted greasy food is sometimes just the thing to satisfy the little devil inside me that craves American casual dining fare. Feeding 2 people for $20, and then a kid for 50 cents on Wednesdays, is sometimes just what we need to get away from the house without breaking the bank. Sure the food isn't exceptional, but it's never been less than I've come to expect from a commercialized place like this. Servers have always been attentive and friendly. Just stick with the 2 for $20 specials or happy hour half price apps, don't go for the ribs they're not worth it. Just remember to bring your blood pressure cuff.

Applebee's doesn't win for the quality of food, but they win for trying incredibly hard to always provide an experience. These restaurants used to be as simple as it can get, a basic American meal at a mid-ranged price. Now, they are hosting special events and weekly promotions almost every night. Trivia is a fan favorite, but I'm a huge advocate of the half-off appetizers after 9PM, the drink specials, and karaoke nights that pop up.

We, the four of us, went to Applebees on Sunday evening for dinner. Cannot recommend any thing. The appetizers were kind of tasteless, bland, and greasy. The entries were along the same line as the appetizers. The staff and service were ok but again the food and prices for the lack of anything enjoyable food wise left a lot to be desired.

Today, my roommate and I were craving burgers because we saw the commercials for Applebees. I ordered the Cowboy burger $9.95 My roommate ordered the Philly burger $9.95 [-] Our burgers and fries were okay, it was not spectacular or anything like that (although, I did like the toasted buns). I was a bit disappointment when I saw my burger because it was a bit small for the price I paid (as well as the little fries that I got). For that price, I got one tomato, a few onion, and half piece of lettuce? The description of the burger on the menu listed pickles on there, yet I did not taste any pickles in there at all! Not to mentioned that it took at least 15 minutes for us to receive our meals, (given that it was a bit busy during dinner time). Customer service was not great either. Our server disappeared after we received our meal, came back when we HAD to track her down for a few condiments, and then saw her again when we got our bill. [+] They have a pretty good happy hour menu, but we didn't go during happy hour. For my burger, I really liked the fact that the patty was well done and not overcooked. My fries were salted just right. Yea, that's about all the good stuff I can say about this place. [?] I would probably go back, only by the request of friends or during happy hour. Don't expect great service.

I gave this applebees five stars. I know what you're thinking, "but it's an applebees, how could it get five stars ever!?" Well i'm taking into consideration that it is applebees. I know what to expect, and I am judging on an according scale. The waitress was very friendly and prompt with the help. My dish came with meat, but that was not their fault, I did not ask if it had any(assumed it did not). standard applebees portions, bread was better than usual at this one.

First of all, why is it so hard for restaurant servers and cooks to realize that not everyone likes their burgers the same way, and that the customer is always right about the way they want their food? If someone goes out of their way to clearly ask for something a specific way it should not be a problem for them to make it that way. They're not the one's who are going to eat that burger, the paying customer is. Secondly, servers, you need to check back with your customers after they receive their food and make sure it came out right. And if it didn't, you need to place a higher priority on making it right than on selling that next $1.49 upgrade at the next table. (Management, you may want to incorporate this point into your training regimen. It will be more effective at maximizing your profits than selling those upgrades.) My burger came out wrong, I flagged down our server and asked for a missing key ingredient. After waiting at least 5 minutes I finally got up to go ask again. Three employees disappeared into the kitchen ahead of me, forcing me to go all the way to the other side of the restaurant to find our server. I finally got what I needed, but seriously, lame service.

My boyfriend took me to Applebee's tonight because I'd never been there before. We ordered boneless chicken wings as an appetizer which were completely raw in the middle; I only discovered this because I was having trouble chewing it. GROSS. We should have just walked out right then and there. However, we stuck around and waited for our burgers, one of which was way, waaaaay undercooked. Again, GROSS. The server was moderately apologetic and the manager was slightly less so. All they did was not charge us for the appetizer and took 25% off the rest of the bill. We will NEVER eat there again, and I plan on telling everyone I possibly can about this disgusting experience!

The food used to be better a couple of years ago but lately when I've eaten at Applebee's it's been more of an act of desperation than one of enjoyment. I've ordered several times and each time have been severely disappointed with the quality of the food. The staff is usually friendly and quick, but I'd rather save my money and cook at home or go to a better restaurant.

Yesterday after church, we were invited to go out for lunch by some friends of ours... and they chose Applebees. I have been to Applebees a few times and have never really been impressed; after yesterday, I will never go back. My husband and I did the 2 for $20 deal ~ we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip for our appetizer; the cheese on top was totally burned and the flavor was certainly nothing to write home about, but there was plenty. My husband ordered the Fire Pit Bacon Burger; he thought the burger was "okay", however, he didn't care much for the smothering of the Smoky Chipotle Spread. I ordered the 7 oz. House Sirloin, cooked medium well, with seasonal veggies and a baked potato. The steak was cooked to order, however, it was very fatty and again, I was not impressed with the flavor; I think they must have coated my steak with a steak sauce while it was on the grill. The "seasonal" veggies turned out to be bitter, slime coated, over seasoned and over cooked broccoli florets. The best item on my plate was the baked potato ~ served with too much butter and not enough sour cream. On a side note, the people sitting in back of us had the manager called out. I noticed there was something wrong after she called for the waiter to take back her plate. After he brought her plate back, she again called the waiter over due to a hair in her food. Finally the manager was brought out and he apologized for everything, tried to make amends and bring her something else, however, they left and I don't think will be returning. Between my poor food experience with Applebees and the woman with hair in her food, I will Not be returning to Applebees! Like my rating indicates...Eek! Methinks not!!!

The food is just what you'd expect - not great but not bad...every time we have been there (And I have been there 3 times this year bringing my OSU student back to school), we have had excellent service, friendly staff and a chatty "walk-by" by the manager. For that, I'm a fan! And for the reasonable options for low fat and gluten-free meals!

I stopped there for lunch on three different occasions over the last year. Each time I got up and walked out after about 5 minutes of no service. Hostess seated me promptly, and there I sat while servers mingled in back. There were about 3-4 other customers, so not busy at all. not even a walk by to say " I will be with you shortly", "screw you", or "can I get you a drink". Why did I go back 3 times? I know places have off days, people have off days, so i thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt. After 3rd visit and same crappy service, they will not be getting my $.

Took my family here for dinner. It was a Friday Evening, and it was not really all that busy, as far as customers were concerned. We were seated straightaway, and that is where it all went kinda sour. The service was so very slow, from the time they took out order, it took about an hour just to get our food. It was almost as if the wait staff was very distracted. I overheard our neighbor table say, when their food came, "we forgot we had even ordered anything". We spoke with the Manager and he blamed it on the wait staff? And that in itself left a bad taste in my mouth. You see, in my mind, you don't throw anybody under the bus, you apologize, and say, something along the lines that we were short staffed for a busy friday. But don't throw anyone under the bus. You know, it was just an overall sad experience and will probably never return to this establishment in the future and would NOT recommend this property to any of my family and friends. Hope they can get their act together. Cheers.

My husband and I had dinner here on November 26th. I was so disappointed in the food, we won't be going back. We ate appetizers during happy hour, maybe that's the problem. He ordered the chips and salsa (he remembered that he didn't like the food last time). The chips were stale and the salsa was very bad. I've had better from a jar at the grocery store. I really don't need to go on, because who can't do chips and salsa right?!! Stale chips at a restaurant? I had the cheeseburger sliders. I remembered to order it without the sauce because it's too weird. The buns were soggy and pale. Not appealing to even look at, much less eat. The patties were under cooked, which is the opposite of what you'd expect on a small burger. On the tables they have new computers that you can play games on, for a fee; place orders; pay for your meal. We tried using it to check out because our waitress was so slow. It wouldn't work right, of course and we spent longer trying to get it right. I remember thinking that we wasted too much money at this establishment for what we got. But even the machine worked poorly as a review of our visa bill a couple days later showed that they only charged us 1/2 of what our total was. Unfortunately that was still too much for what it's worth. To top it all off, I went to their website to give this feedback to Applebee's, but could find no way to send comments to the company. They must already know how things are going.

Probably the least professional service I have ever received, from the host to the bartender to the server. Need some retraining. Food, however, was the same as every other Applebee's.

i LOVE this applebees. The servers are always extremely nice and quick to bring us our food. I have eaten here more times than I can count and I have never had a bad experience here. The food is consistently delicious. Also, if you are looking for something to do on Tuesday nights, I'd highly recommend going to their Trivia Tuesdays. SO much fun!

The first thing I'd like to do is praise the waitstaff and management for trying to accommodate us and make us comfortable diners. When we entered the place somewhere around 8:00 p.m. one night, the music on the overhead speakers was really loud, playing awful pop music. So we asked the hostess to see about having it turned down, which happened, surprisingly, fairly quickly, plus the manager came out to apologize and ask us if the noise level was better. Very happy at this outcome. But the music was still too loud, especially over by the bar, and we asked again if they could turn it down so we could talk. The hostess went back to the manager again and turned it down noticeably, so it was finally bearable. Our waiter Daniel was awesome, too. Can't fault the staff, and this was my first Applebee's experience. The food wasn't too bad but one saucy thing had a lot of sauce hiding whatever was beneath it. They also brought out the wrong dish the first time for one of us but fixed this right away. Not fond of chain restaurants so can't say we'll go back.

Had a horrible meal there last night. Service was excruciatingly slow. Food was cold. Steak was tough. Drinks were wrong. They didn't give me my shrimp with my steak. Steaks were a weird cut. We have had really good meals here in the past, but the steaks were changed for the worse. Everything has gone way downhill over the last couple of years.

I have eaten at this location before and not had good service or good food before but I thought I'd give them one more chance. I should've kept to my original opinions before because once again an hour after leaving I'm starting to get nauseated. The food is too greasy and always tastes fresh out of the microwave. I won't be returning.

Usually pretty good, with good service. Generally can get in without delay. Gets heavy dose of foreign OSU students which tend to slow down service to all, as they want individual checks, expect happy hour prices at all hours, and want things done special for them. Not a criticism of staff though...they do their best to endure and provide good service to all. Tuesday nights get noisy during trivia night...and bar gets crowded.

  • Jessie M.

They have changed their late night policy. It used to be that appetizers were half off after nine, but now they are half off IF you also buy a drink. This won't be as much of a bummer after I turn 21, but That means that the under 21 folks have to buy a 2 dollar and something cents soda if they want a half off appetizer. I hate buying sodas because it's such a rip off. It costs them like 10 cents for the soda, yet they charge almost 3 dollars for it. But I keep going for the trivia. That's about it.
