I really want to give this place a better score, and I keep giving them chances. They have an awesome cafe with lots of food. Places like Dutch, Coffee Culture etc. don't actually offer anything but pastries or bagels. The Beanery offers a great selection of food for any craving. I love this place because its close to my work. I also love that this place is local and not another coffee chain. HOWEVER - Their customer service and brewing skills are nothing short of inconsistent. I worked in customer service, I know how rude customers can be, so I always try to be nice and friendly to anyone who is serving me food or drinks. But half the time that I come here, the employees are rude, awkward, or unfriendly. Other times, the people working are friendly and personable. It really just depends. With that, their coffee is incredibly inconsistent too. Sometimes it's amazing...other times it is downright AWFUL. I will go several times in one week, order the same drink, and have a completely different experience every time that I go. Honestly, it wouldn't make as big of a difference if my coffee wasn't "exactly" what I wanted, so long as the people actually said hello to me when I walked in, or smiled at least a little. The customer service experience makes a huge difference, and The Beanery really doesn't seem to pay much attention to that. I've seen this happen time and time again at all of the Allan Bros shops around town. Maybe its an issue about how they train and treat their employees? Who would want to be friendly if their managers are all a bunch of jerks? This is just a speculation, but something has got to give. Why is it that this place is consistently inconsistent for so many years?

Coffee is pretty good and there's a wide selection of food. The quantity on their country breakfast is very generous for the biscuit and gravy fans.

The prices are a little bit steep if you're looking for something more than black coffee...but that's not me. That being said, I swing by here for a half-hour or so before I work at the Boys & Girls Club on M-F, so this place is really conveniently placed nearby. The staff are really accommodating, the Italian roast is fantastic, and the wi-fi is FREE. Oh, by the way...they have baked treats (cookies, scones, etc.) for half-price in the afternoon (Post-2pm?) Anyways, this is a great place to get work done. Sure, Market of Choice has Stumptown Coffee (which is a little bit better), but it's also more expensive, and there's NO WI-FI.

I visit this Beanery location consistently, and overall have had a good experience with their atmosphere and friendly staff, however.. I will visit one day and be raving to my friends about the amazing latte, and the next day I will order the same drink, but have it taste like soapy water. I wish I could rely on a consistent drink. I love the flavor of the beans they use, but have been disappointed by too many drinks that don't even taste like they have espresso in them :(

Wifi and laptop users who need a power outlet GO ELSEWHERE. They started limiting the internet usage to 800 megs. They also have signs that proclaim themselves as a 'pirate free internet zone' saying they will ban anyone using torrent clients. I understand the second one somewhat, but the first is pure cash grab (they will sell you more). Also, say you use a legal installer (such as Blizzard's) that work via bittorrent. I can only assume that will also get you banned. I will be directing my money to other shops such as the Interzone who lack stupid policies, and I hope they lose lots of business as a result. Also, if you need a plugin, they removed all of those. Good food though!

Latte: 4 stars Food: 3 stars Free wifi: 5 stars Milkshakes: 4 stars In my world, this averages to about 4 stars. It's a nice place to bring your laptop and do some work because there is free wifi and plenty of outlets. The food isn't terrible for a coffee shop, but I wouldn't come here for a good meal. It's not a bad place to grab a little breakfast or a quick lunch, but if you're looking for a nice place to get breakfast, there are other breakfast joints in town. This is my go-to place for a latte and free wifi!

I have absolutely no complaint about the staff. Smiling, friendly and efficient. This place is conveniently located but for whatever reason, and maybe it's just me being a whackjob, the coffee drinks aren't quite as good as the downtown Beanery. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, just not quite as good. Still a fulfilling cup o' joe either way. Feels a little cramped, but I just use it for my joe-on-the-go... =)

The new location is nice. They managed to bring over a lot of the character their other locations have. As I work out of town, a Beanery Sweet Bean is a treat I like to grab every few weeks when around for breakfast. Everyone is always very friendly and the atmosphere is fun and low key.

Drinkable coffee. Usually the lattes are too hot, and foam is sloppy and oversteamed. The coffee is also a bit bitter for my tastes. Overpriced, too, for the quality of coffee they serve.

30 min from closing staff is bringing in outdoor metal tables and chairs. No problem except he is almost throwing the chairs down. Loud unsettling clattering. Not a place to go for coffee after a stressful day. So disappointing!
