What the heck... We LOVE the Mazatlan off of TV Hwy, heck we even somewhat like the one off 185th so we musta gone on an off night because almost everything about this place was not so good. It really wasn't too busy but the waiter acted as if he was so put off by us it was ridiculous; we practically needed a flare gun to get his attention... personally I think he was "hangry" (so hungry he was irritable/angry) cause I did see him trying to eat quickly as we were leaving. If that's the case I can get over it; but the food really was nothing to get excited about to counter act...not even a little bit... which is a bummer cause it takes a lot to mess up Americanized Mexincan food in this gals book. hello--I sometimes get (and enjoy) freakin' Taco Bell. Not to mention I got a chicken tostada, how the hell do you mess that up??!Anyways the chips and salsa were my only saving grace so that I didn't leave "hangry"... its still up for debate if we will give this joint another try or wave as we pass by on our way to TB

The food is so spicy (well-seasoned) and full of flavor, delicious and hot from kitchen to your table. They have flavorful fruit smoothies and a full bar, I love their Zombie (see photos). My husband (not a huge Mexican food fan) said their salsa was the best he has ever had and the chips are freshly made and warm. Love their guacamole too. Last night we split the 3 enchilada meal (no extra charge). I had 2 enchiladas and my husband had 1 enchilada and the rice and beans. All of this for just a little over $20. When getting take-out the plates are well wrapped with foil to stay warm until you get home. The atmosphere is great and the staff are always full of smiles. We always go pretty early in the evening so it is quiet and quick, we will continue to return for the food & the service.

So as much as I wanted to find a mexican restaurant that I love, this place is not it! The waitresses are highly unattentive. I have tried this place four times, and the service does no change. Each time, I have to ask for place settings (after the food arrives). They will not give or offer you water, you have to ask for it. Once your drink arrives they will not ask you if you want a refill, unless it is alcohol, then they don't leave you alone. The waitresses prep to-go plates, and table settings in one of the booths while customers are present. Any prep should be done out of sight for the customers, and you should wash your hands before doing it, the waitresses will serve the food to someone and go straight to prep again(not washing). The restaurant is very dirty, and could use a really good deep cleaning, most likely from an outside professional, especially since the staff haven't been cleaning. Also most of the lightbulbs are out, and you see a ton of burned out bulbs, and the flowing streams of cobwebs everywhere. I do have to say though that the food is tasty and hot. If they improved the service, and the cleanliness this could earn them a better rating and my continued repeat service.

We have lived in Cornelius for @ 5 years now and have found it difficult to find really good places to eat. When we stopped in to try out Mazatlan not long after we had moved to the area we were impressed with both the food and the service (not always easy to get together)!!!! I'm not one to eat dinner out much anymore but we find ourselves returning here on a regular basis. My husband and I have both tried numerous things on the menu and have yet had anything we didn't enjoy.

My wife and I have been going here for years now. Carlos and our favorite waitress Judy have always been just over the top. The food is just incredible. We go to Cabo every year so we can compare it to authentic Mexican food. Their Chili Relleno and Seafood Chimi along with all the other menu items are top notch. I guess that's why #14 on the menu is my favorite. See you guys next week! keep up the good work.

Sorry, but the food was truly lacking unless you like gloppy flavorless cheese melted on gloppy flavorless entrees.. Mazatlan says they prepare "authentic" Mexican food. Wrong, though that may be be true in White Bread Idaho. I'm from San Diego and recently moved to Portland/Beaverton. This was some of the worst Mexican food I've tried since moving here. I'll continue my search.

Some of the worst food we have ever had. And all we had was rice, beans, and an onion and cheese enchilada. I didn't realize you could mess this up! The beans either had some kind of wine in them, or soap, or were just rancid. The rice was very very bland and the cheese enchilada was nothing to talk about. Edible. Barely. The service was dispicable. Took over 10 minutes to get water. Another 10 for chips and salsa. Another 10 before we could order. No water refills. Asked for a chip refill when the food arrived and not only did we get an eyeroll, we never got the chips although three other tables got chip refills who arrived after us. Mind you, they had a bunch of people on staff and were not very busy. The "blonde" waitress was very rude when we asked for the beans to be removed from our bill. We explained why and her excuse was "these are the same beans we serve everyone" yet she refused to taste them when we asked her too. Makes it seem a little fishy to me. We will NOT be coming back. We rarely ever have to spit food out and get it removed from the bill. Even taco bell is better.

Where to begin. We were in the area and needed lunch, we have a Mazatlan near my parents house which is outstanding, so we figured this one would be as well. Boy were we wrong, the place is grimy around the edges, dumpy and just feels dirty, the bathrooms are pretty gross too.. The first thing I noticed upon entry was the smell of either urinal cake or some cleaning solution. The second thing was our cashier/busser/server had on so much perfume it was making my mother ill. Our server dumped off our plates and we never heard from her again. When she dumped our plates off we asked for more Salsa, never got that either. Thankfully she left her water pitcher or we would have had empty water glasses too. The service sucked, big time and there were not that many people in the restaurant. I plan to never eat here again. I am thankful the one in Aloha is 100 times better! p.s. the food was OK, however it is pretty hard to mess up a beef enchilada and a cheese enchilada.

My husband and I went here today and were not impressed. First of all, when we sat down to the table I noticed that my fork was dirty and there were mint wrappers in the sugar tray. OK, no big deal. The service was horrible. We had to ask more than once for salsa to be brought to the table (it didn't come when we asked for some with our entrees). We also ordered an appetizer that was never brought to the table. Nor did we have a refill on drinks the entire time. My husband had the super burrito combo which he thought was ok. I ordered the seafood burrito and couldn't eat it. I am not a picky person, but I wasn't expecting what I found on my plate. The first bite had the most overwhelming fishy flavor so I took my fork and dug out some filling. I found some shredded goop (crab??? fish???), with miniature scallops and what looked like baby canned shrimp. It was covered in some kind of red gooey sauce. I always try to order fish/seafood dishes when I go out for Mexican food and have never seen or tasted anything like this in my life. They did offer to bring something else when I gave them my honest opinion of the food. No thanks! Needless to say, we will not be going back there again. We will stick to the authentic Mexican restaurants and taco trucks in the area.

My first time going in there today my boyfriend took me on a date so i got all dressed up and was feeling lovely (: the girls that work there are so sweet! always checking on you with a smile and really making the experience! Then on our way out at paying the bill the girl said that i was gorgeous and had beautiful glowing skin it was really nice to be paid that compliment. made my day! oh and of course the food soooo cheap! three enchiladas rice and beans for like $10 :D couldnt be more happy!!

My wife and I love this place because they have one of the most awesome veggie burritos around! We hadn't noticed that they changed their sign in 2012 to include the words, "and Grill" until a few months into 2013. Thanks to their new grill the burrito has a ton of great grilled vegetable ingredients, packed inside along with rice and beans and such! Much better than most options available to plant-based eaters like us. On the other hand, even if you order with no sour cream and no cheese, like I do (I try to be an herbivore due to health issues), I don't believe you can really achieve vegan status due to their cooking methods, but I could be wrong. However, they know what I mean when I say "vegan style" and they do their best. And I'm not religious about it. Before my diet-based health treatment began, I used to go their pretty often just to get the mole sauce. I think you could put their mole (Mo-lay) on rocks and they'd taste good. Although I have tasted one better, this is the best in 15 miles of me. Sadly, mole is off the menu for me now. 8^( I have only had one bad plate from them before, a few years ago, they didn't take the skin off my chicken. ICK! But that's the only negative I've seen, and I go there a lot, especially since I can walk there in 15 minutes. If you're in the area and are making an effort to eat more healthfully* I recommend their veggie burrito minus dairy products. It'll fill you up and keep you full a long time, with none of the sluggish tiredness and heaviness a meat and fat laden meal will give you. And the general manager is very nice to boot! At least if you're a regular. 8^) Note: The only reason for four instead of five stars is that I am a clean freak and I like a sterling shiny polished sanitized perfect bathroom and those are rare in Cornelius. The building used to be a bank, so I think they'd need to sink some real money into it to make a perfect bathroom setup. They also need to dust up high more often, but it's not too bad. * I heartily recommend reading the book The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell. It has the actual scientific medical data from the largest study on human health and nutrition in history. It demonstrates why eating a nearly exclusively plant-based diet can significantly improve your health in many many ways. If you do read it you'll understand why it was *so* wonderful for my wife and me to find this nearly vegan meal that we don't have to cook ourselves..

The portions are not the largest I have seen, but they are also not the smallest. The food is not the best I have ever had, but it is also not the worst. This restaurant is average in every way except one: The omnipresent smell of bleach. On one hand, I appreciate the cleansing properties of bleach, but on the other, I dont like the smell of it wafting through the air in combnation with the plate of food in front of me. This place is for you if you dont mind the smell of bleach in the air as you eat, and you are looking for standard Mexican in Cornelius.

Where to start I have to say I dislike writting reviews for restaurants for less the 3 stars because it takes effort on any business owner to run a place and I understand that but when I would rather go to dinner at a McDonald's then a sit in restaurant there is something wrong. The place which I have been going to for years looks like they have forgot to clean it for just as long the seats are torn the walls have weird stains on them the menus are sticky and gross the bathroom is disgusting even for a men's bathroom it's bad. It is so loud in there no matter the time of day but what has really gotten to me is the quality of food I always put up with this place because of the proximity to my home but my god has this place gone down hill. I absolutely won't be coming back and would urge people to avoid it like the plague. Its a busy place and there are always people going here because well it's cheap Mexican food but please people go to any Mexican supermarket and get much much better food then this place. This is a place to be avoided.

Some choose mexican food, some are born to mexican food and others have it thrust upon them. I am the one who had it thrust upon me. From March through October we run a road rally series in Portland called the Friday Nighter Series, and each event ends at a pizza place usually, sometimes a Denny's and some, like this one, ended at a Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant. When we arrived it was late in the evening, but the rally organizer arranged for this place to stay open later just for us, so it was nice to see a place actually bend over backwards to make money. My partner and I had been rushed to make the event and so we were pretty hungry when we got here. One thing about my partner and I, we know mexican food, we can spot the pretenders and the innovators as well as the posers and the talentless. We also know good standard mexican fare, which this was. I had the chili colorado burrito with rice and beans. It was good chili, the meat was maybe a little tougher than I like in that dish which usually means it was not simmering long enough, but it was good, not exceptional. The tortilla was made with real lard, you can tell easily which gave it a real authentic flavor. The rice was boring and kind of bland but the beans had the right stuff, combine the two and it covers a multitude of sins. What really stood out was even though we were keeping them there late, the service was fast and friendly, and n qualms about splitting checks either. The cocktails were reported to be excellent, the partner enjoyed a Consuela, rich with fruit, and the margaritas were heralded as excellent. I won't be returning here anytime too soon, I am just not out in Cornelius that often, but if I was I would consider this as an option to stop at.

Had the Chile Colorado - pretty darn good - big chunks of meat and yummy sauce. The Horchata was home made and unlimited refills. Salsa was good and seemed home made. Price was reasonable and I left full. Service was very nice. I would give it 3.5 if I could - it is above average and decent food (at least what I had) and nice decor. The only reason I don't go higher is I have to reserve the higher marks for places that hit it out of the ball park.

Average. My food is always greasy. A bit pricey for what you get. I also ordered a margarita and it tasted virgin. But the chips and salsa are good.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Great food and service. THEY Really Need To Spend SOMETIME Cleaning and updating. I have are here fir years always happy to come back.

Went here after being recommended by the tattoo shop across the street. Great food, the inside could be updated worth a more modern look. Definitely coming back the next time I get worked on across the street.

(4)Tricia M.
This is the second time the hubby and I have been to this particular Mazatlan restaurant. The food is always good and service is great. Will definitely be back agsin and again.
(5)Terry I.
(5)Lewis M.
(1)Julie L.
Fantastic! Great service and great food. The beef burrito was exceptional.
(4)Alli T.

(1)Aimee F.

(1)Mike P.
I took a very special family here today. Carlos led great service-- food was hot and delicious especially the Arroz Con Pollo. Our drinks were kept full, chips and salsa refreshed. Thank you for making our special lunch a great experience.

Who puts A1 steak sauce in their fajitas?! This place is awful!! If you're trying to find good Mexican food drive up Baseline to ANY other restaurant.
(1)John E.
(3)Chiemi N.
I have to update my review of Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant to 4 stars! I am seriously addicted to the Chile Colorado!
(4)Ellie H.
Portions are very, very, generous and delicious. The chips seem different than other locations. Not as good...however, the food flavor, portions, and presentation are FAR superior at this location than any of the others we've visited.
(4)Joanne R.

I have to update my review of Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant to 4 stars! I am seriously addicted to the Chile Colorado!

Portions are very, very, generous and delicious. The chips seem different than other locations. Not as good...however, the food flavor, portions, and presentation are FAR superior at this location than any of the others we've visited.

Average. My food is always greasy. A bit pricey for what you get. I also ordered a margarita and it tasted virgin. But the chips and salsa are good.
