I have eatin at El Chilito 3 for the last six months. I am a fan. I often get the Carnitas plate. It has huge peices of tender pork, lot's of beans, just the right amout of rice, some fixens for soft tacos, and to clean your palate; a generous slice of tomato. Last Monday I finished my lunch with a slice of Flan. It was perfectly prepared. I have also had their burritos, nachos, carne asada plate, and the chicken mole. The dinning area is quant, warm, and quiet. If you want a great place to get out of the weather and have a great Mexican meal for a very good price, stop at Chilito's

This is the sit down restaurant (well order at the counter and then sit down at one of several booths/tables). Their take-out restaurant is basically right across the street. The family (8 of us as Grammy stayed home) came here for dinner the night we returned from the coast. My in-laws like it because the portions are smaller than some of the other places around and they don't feel obligated to eat as much. The food is authentic to a point (lard in the refried beans, etc.). Sadly, the beans didn't have much flavor so thanks to the salsa bar for fixing that. Service is friendly, prices are dirt cheap. Our family of 8 had dinner for less than $45.00. We spent more at Burgerville the day after for a less than thrilling lunch. This place is okay-I like other places better, but sometimes I just go with the flow... **Cash Only**

The food here maybe authentic, but it's authentically flavorless. The salsas taste like they came out of a La Victoria bottle. The tacos al pastor which is supposed to be the most tender and flavorful of tacos is neither. It was dry and completely flavorless, in fact the worst taco al pastor I've ever had. I've lived in Mexico for 2 months so have had "authentic" and love it. This ain't it. Fried tilapia, though was good but not because they flavored it at all, but because deep friend tilapia naturally tastes good. After reading the previous review, I was hoping for more but was very disappointed. For real authetic mexico goto Woodburn to the Cactus Grill, which is real authentic Mexican food.

Okay...so maybe its unfair to post this now...since I ate there about a year ago. But what I experienced was enough to make me never go back. I had been there a few times because a friend wanted to go. The food never amazed me. I was always dumping sauces on it to try to add some flavor to the blah tasting food. The last time I went with my husband. We met up on a lunch break and were two of the only four people there. The service was rude and slow. After waiting 20 minutes (during our 30 minute lunch) our food finally came out and we had to ask for it to go. We went our separate ways then shortly called eachother after starting in on the food. I cut into my chimichanga.....and the chicken was pink, and partially still frozen. My husband said his burrito wasn't salvagable either and tossed it. I still hear many people rave about this restaurant. Im afraid I will never be one of them :(

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
