We ate here several times during our recent stay in Burns. They have a varied breakfast menu and their omelets were big and tasty. There's also a dinner buffet which has a different menu each day of the week. We ate there when they had delicious pork ribs. Um, boy.... I can eat lots of ribs! The food is well-made, cooked right there using their own recipes, not pre-packaged garbage. They have rates for one plate, all-you-can-eat, and a senior (over 65) rate. This restaurant is under new management - and the quality and customer service is way better than what it was a couple years ago.

Lunchtime on our drive from Baker City to Lakeview. This is pretty much middle of the road dining for me. The burgers and fries my fiance and I ordered were average, though I would have preferred my fries slightly more crispy. Service was alright, and we had soda refills when we ran low. Bit of advice though, the coffee to go was not the best. Seek your caffeination elsewhere.

I stopped here for lunch on my way through town after a local man said it was good. Although it had unique and fun decor, the place seemed cluttered and unclean due to the amount of antiques throughout the restaurant. I ordered the French dip sandwich, and it came out so fast that I worry it was pre-made and just sitting somewhere in the kitchen. This fear gained more evidence when I ate the sandwich and found the meat dry and not very flavorful. The a jus was watery at best, and the fries tasted like the came out of a frozen bag from the grocery store. The only really redeeming thing about this place was their pie. I had a slice of coconut cream that was absolutely wonderful. It seemed fresh and homemade with a nice, flaky crust.

We were ready for an economically-priced steak after a day of driving. There were few options in Burns: One restaurant out of our price range and fast food type places. We walk in. Stand at the "Please Wait to be Seated" sign at the podium near the front of the restaurant. Wait for someone to notice us. Wait, and wait, and wait. My father and I politely stood at the sign for much too long. I could see and hear 2 people behind the counter chatting. I figured they just didn't hear or see US, so I hesitantly walked up to the front of the counter and said, "Excuse me?" I could see a table of people eating on the other side of the wall--so I knew the place was open. The 2 people on the kitchen-side of the counter momentarily stopped talking long enough to turn and look at me. THEN, they turned their backs to me and proceeded to carry on their conversation. Never acknowledged us as customers. It was terribly rude. Since they obviously didn't want our business, we left right then and there. Ridiculous!

When I heard that this restaurant was under new ownership, I gave it another go. A friend and I ordered breakfast yesterday. I ordered a cheese omelet, hash browns well-done, and toast. My friend ordered two eggs and hash browns, well-done. Our food took a long time to arrive, (others who were seated after us were served first). The waitress informed us as she was walking by, "Your food is taking longer because you ordered your browns well done." When the food arrived, the waitress nonchalantly told us "This is as well done as the cook could get them", before walking off. The browns were not well done. They were greasy and barely tan. Inedible, unless you like raw greasy spuds. When I cut into my omelet, uncooked raw egg came pouring out of it. Likewise my friends eggs were undercooked as well, with clear slime on their tops. We immediately got up, gave exact payment, (Tip? I think not) and left. Frankly, I should have refused to pay at all.
