This is hard for a small town girl to trash a small town watering hole, but the service we received last night was far from a pleasurable experience. Our experience here in the past has been fair, the food is always hot, tasty and large portions. The drinks always cold. The wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable. This building is pretty run down. At about 11:00 the bar had cleared out from a busy evening and a full house from an out of town comedian that had been the headliner. Our table was a party of 6, two had left for the evening and the four of us then started to play pool. We placed a food order to go and finished our next game. At this time, the customers in the bar dwindled down to just a handful. The waitress/bartender had stepped out for a smoke. As we waited near the bar counter for the food, a member of our party (a regular at the bar) walked up past the counter (area with no barrier) and was showing my husband (not a regular) all the different types of bottled beer in the cooler. This began our negative encounter and was due to a very grumpy cook. She started dropping F Bombs, telling the regular he needed to get the F*** away and proceeded on her tyrant for a few minutes. A simple request would have solved the problem. Instead she continued to disrespect us. We then canceled the food order, telling her not to bother finishing our order. At this time, the bartender reentered the establishment and we asked for our bill, not including our food order, and continued to explain the situation to her and why we canceled the food order. For such a small town and knowing how important word of mouth is, I'd be treating every customer as a vital part of my business.

I always make my friend Rick take me to this place when I am in Oregon. The Heart Attack Burger is one of the best burgers I have had ANYWHERE!

This review is for brunch/breakfast. I stopped in here because it was the only place open in Brownsville, and damn did I feel lucky when I left. There was a gentleman playing some great guitar music, the special of the day was some good french toast with lemon and some crazy berry compote I had never heard of. My girl and I shared the french toast and this tasty but healthy hash with a couple eggs on top. They also had this really great banana bread that they served with butter on top which sounds questionable but was delicious. Definitely a good breakfast place that should be a go-to place for those in the area.

One of the filthiest places I have ever been, along with rough redneck crowd. The owner thinks she owns the town and has a huge ego...not a nice place to visit at all.

While I didn't indulge in alcoholic beverages here, I DID have a delicious Reuben. It was perfect. The Russian dressing was delicious and the corned beef was tender and juicy. I had a side of tater tots and they were also perfection. Crunchy, golden, soft inside. My dining companion had a double trouble burger and he loved that as well. Solid.

Old is expected in Brownsville but this place pushes that envelope all the way and then some. Dark, dingy, dated and tacky are accurate adjectives to use. The restrooms were beyond sad and just awful. Two people told us the burgers were good so we tried two different versions. My husband liked his but the only good thing I can report about their chili burger is that the patty was not from the freezer and the cheese was real. What they are calling "chili" is nowhere near it--they're using a mash-up of refried pinto beans and black beans dumped on top of an open-faced hamburger patty and buns. Nothing had flavor, including the burger patty. All of it was just BLAH. Strips of onion not diced...um, no. Steak fries that were from the freezer and also had no flavor. Mozzerella sticks from the freezer and, guess what, again, BLAH. Yes, it's a tavern, maybe it could be called a dive bar, but it's in farm country so why not serve better quality food even if it is off a basic menu? My husband summed it up best in two comments: "When the coating on deep fried mozzarella sticks tastes better at a fast food chain restaurant you know you've got a problem." and after exiting the restroom... "What a dump." The one star is for the barkeep/waitress who was friendly, polite and attentive. We support small business, local business, and Oregon-businesses but the Brownsville Saloon was a true disappointment.

This is a fun little bar in historic Brownsville, right on Main Street. The bartender was really sweet and attentive and we really enjoyed talking with the locals there. Lot's of room for pool (and a occasional pool tournament) and lots of video poker as well. We didn't try the food, but the burgers that came out of the kitchen smelled great.

They have really good hamburgers and fries. Piled high with whatever comes on it. I've never been able to finish one so I always get a to-go box! They're not your ordinary hamburger. The meals are good too but I relay like their burgers. The staff is very friendly and the service is good.

We wanted to get a taste of this town and chose the namesake saloon. We were greeted and spoiled by Shannon. She was on top of our needs and was very friendly. We told her we'd never been in town and she offered helpful advice for places to see. We both chose the bacon cheeseburger which she stated was their bestseller. It did not disappoint!! I read on the menu that there were 3 ghosts living there. I was kinda hoping to meet "Crazy Cora." No such luck.

Glad we found this place through Yelp to stop for lunch when we were taking a quick detour off I-5 to see historic Brownsville. Real friendly folk on either side of the bar that made us feel most welcome. Burgers were really good! As is there fresh brewed iced tea. Next time we're passing through on the I-5 we'll definitely stop again!

Many locals no longer go there because the owner is rude and unreasonable. She has been known to view the security camera footage & report what she sees to the police or to the spouses or parents of the patrons.

I heard that the Brownsville Saloon was serving breakfasts and had to try it. So my wife, Nancy and I drove out on a Saturday morning. Wow! Great job on those breakfasts! Mine was a corn grits dish topped with veggies and an egg. I had the chef add sausage to mine. The grits were warm and creamy with a little cheese on top, great comfort food! My wife doesn't like grits but she tasted them and thought they were good too. Nancy had the baked french toast special. It was a triple berry bread covered in an eggy batter and baked, like a bread pudding in the oven. It was great too (I snuck a bite). Our sever did a great job of informing us about the specials, making sure we had everything we needed and keeping the coffee cups full! She was also very knolegable about what was going on in the community and directed us to the farmers market for fresh produce. Charming town, great service and good food . . . we will do this one again!

There are many perks to living in rural Linn County, the Brownsville Saloon is one of those. 3.25 for craft brews, you can't even beat that at a brewery. They always have at least 3 or 4 good Oregon brews on tap, recently they have had 10 Barrel's Sinister Black Ale. Massive burger baskets for 8.50 with a decent amount of steak fries. Everything here is a great deal. Also, I love that the bar is untreated wood. It has a much different feel that any other bar I've sat at. The service is always good, but food can take awhile because they have a tiny kitchen if it's very busy. Whether you're coming back from hiking in the Cascades or swimming in the Calapooia this is the best place around for a burger and brew. Oh yeah and if you're in the mood they have two pool tables and a jukebox.

Loved it! Fun little dive bar. Good food and very reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and attentive. If you go you need to get the "Spanish Coffee" it is out of this world! Will for sure be back here next time we are in the area

Love this place and the hard working folks that make it a great experience every time we stop in. Its nice to find such a great place with great food. I love the word great apparently.

Stop by and have a pint. Then go out back and trip out on the Stand By Me alleyway (scene from when the gun goes off). Stopped by in the daytime. Sure the place was a little weird, but the two bartender ladies were very nice.

A popular stop for locals and motorcycle enthusiasts. The burgers are true to legend, and are very good. Fries, sandwiches of all sorts, and tater tots are also on the list of above average bar food here. I had heard about the Saloon long before I actually visited, so I had quite the preconceived notion of greatness that I hoped was not just a myth. I was not disappointed. It really does look like your typical small town tavern, not much I can say to help that out. Keno games, pool tables, a long bar, and some smallish tables. But the bartenders are friendly and can take your orders correctly. Food comes without a terrible wait. I have been only been here twice, once for lunch and the other for an early dinner, so there were only a few others being waited on at the time. If you're out antique hunting or just coming over for the Saturday market, I'd say this is a fine place to have lunch.

Ask for the Pendleton Punch! We had a great time when we came in for the TN OR game! The locals were welcoming and we would really suggest checking out this place!

Great place spirits and vibe. Customer device awesome! Would recommend this establishment over the pioneer villa hands down.!!!
