It is a bit mystifying, but Bend has an abundance of Thai restaurants. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Competition is healthy and much more preferable than a monoculture. That said, if I am in the mood for Thai food, I do not generally spread my dining dollars around. I go to Toomie's when I want a guaranteed fantastic meal. This is the restaurant that I bring guests to for a special Eastern meal. Service at dinner time ranges from good to excellent. Service at lunch time can be sporadic and inattentive, but it appears that some of the most indifferent daytime servers have left. That is a relief. You can't go wrong if you start your meal with the crispy calamari or the exquisite Thom Kah soup. The latter is served in a traditional heated turrine. The Prig Pow and King Sod are excellent and good compliments for each other. A friend of mine orders King Sod at maximum hotness; beware - if you do that, make sure you really want it -- it will come searingly spicy. And if you want a real treat, the Lotus Talay is both delicious and beautifully displayed in a flower like arrangement. It is a signature dish.

Best Thai in Bend that I've had. Panang and Mussaman are delicious. Authentic Thai mother back in the kitchen making the magic!
(5)Dave M.
This was the third time we ate here and every time it's been great. Just because they are not the new kid on the does not mean you should pass it up

I have eaten my fair share of Thai food, but this is some of the best Thai food I've ever had!! We tried to get a spot at Noi Thai Cuisine, but were told that the wait was over an hour, so we settled for the next closest Thai restaurant and boy am I glad we did. The food was fantastic, fresh, full of flavor, and definitely authentic. The menu at Toomie's is very affordable and vegan/vegetarian friendly (we had one vegan guest with us, and the kitchen was very flexible in accommodating her requests and made a special curry dish just for her). This restaurant is definitely not as modern or flashy as Noi Thai, but I think as far as the authenticity and price of the dishes, this place is unbeatable. As far as dishes, everything we ordered came out very very good. It did take a bit long for our dishes to come out, but honestly it was worth it considering the taste! I would highly recommend the Tom Yum Soup and the Tofu Stirfry. The Green Curry was excellent, and the Green Papaya Salad was delicious as well. The service was good as well. They seemed a bit understaffed when we went, but my water glass was never more than half empty before the waiter came by and refilled it! Overall, the food was very very fresh and delicious, and I will be recommending this restaurant to anyone I know visiting Bend!!

Food = 4 (lunch special was okay and I enjoyed) Price = 5 (best lunch special in downtown Bend... $6.00) Experience = 3 (it's never crowded... I'm not sure why?) Lunch special... nice AC... large open windows... the best spot to people watch in downtown Bend.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Bend and stopped in on a whim to try their lunch specials. We ordered the #26, the gai taut with fried rice, pad Thai noodles, and Thai salad. The roasted chicken was flash fried with a coat of honey and was absolutely perfect! Just a quick deep fry so it doesn't feel so heavy. The rice was cooked to perfection and that Thai salad with peanut dressing was my favorite! For only $7.50 we could not have left any happier.

We had a fantastic dinner last night with our group of 4 here while on vacation in Bend. The panang curry with kaffir lime leaves was a highlight. The combination dinners were also great and came with a fun variety to try. The service was so attentive and friendly. It was a cold snowy night, and they refilled our much needed hot tea several times without having to ask. Would return next time in Bend.

First time I ever ate Thai was here and they made it so special :) I got the crispy tofu YUMMY!!! and the spicy fried catfish WOW! I tried my boyfriends curry which isn't to my liking but I've been told I may like Indian curry better. Anyway it was so good and I'm happy I got to try Thai here :)
(5)Kristi S.
Probably one of the best cheap lunches in Bend.

I can't say anything about the food because we never got to eat here. My son is a wheelchair and we wanted to try this place. We walk in and there are two steps leading up to the dining tables and NO ramp! I was beyond upset abaou this because everyone should be able to enjoy a restaurant not just the people who can walk on two legs. They will never get my busy or those of others in wheelchairs unless they change that. Very disappointed.

Always love our lunch at Toomies. After many years it is still our favorite Thai restaurant in bend

Toomies or Tommies!? Tommy's? No? Located in Old Downtown Bend. Street parking. Menu is extensive, affordable prices! The sweet and sour pork I ordered was delicious! The taste was perfect-- the only downside is that the pork was small portion drowned with lots of tomatoes and potatoes. Their noodles were alright-- it was pretty bland. Eggrolls and the sauce were yummy!! The number 1 entree for lunch is also good, it was very flavorful. It consisted of fried chicken, rice and salad. If you work near Downtown Bend, this is a great place for lunch if you're on a budget!
(4)Mark B.
I was a bit concerned eating here as it was fairly empty for lunchtime but the prices were good, it gets good reviews and I was in the mood for Thai. The decor is a bit sparse with a tables and chairs that seem out of a retirement home, The food though was solid, I had the Pad Thai with chicken not to spicy (actually for me could have used a bit more spice) and it tasted good, nice amount of sauce, and the prices as I said are good. Location is central to the downtown area. So what gives Bend? This place should be busier.

I have heard from many people that Toomie's is amazing so my husband and I decided to deviate from our normal Thai favorites and try it one night. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken because I figure that is usually a safe one to get. My curry was very very very fishy, yes I know that curry has fish sauce in it. I have eaten a lot of different styles of curry and the fish sauce in this was intense. It's honestly all I can remember about the meal. It almost had a rancid quality to it but I could have just been the true flavor this particular fish sauce used. Needless to say I couldn't eat my curry because I literally felt like I took a fish out of a mucky lake and licked it :( if the fish sauce issue could be remedied I feel like the curry would be more acceptable but sadly I just couldn't do it.
(2)Rachel P.
I walked down and got some take out for dinner the other night. I got my usual, which leaves plenty for left overs. I had some soup, jungle curry and then tried their special fried rice. The special thing about this rice is that they add peanut sauce- you could put peanut sauce on anything and it would be good. The other stuff was sub-par. I am from Seattle, I know my thai-food. I think some of the things are their menu were even mis-spelled? I most likely won't be back, but they are the closest to the my house ( i think )...I've heard about this other place- that's supposed to be like a local's secret...I am excited to try... The interior seemed nice but fairly normal. Service for my take-out was ok. Seemed VERY expensive to me... I've heard their lunch specials are ok.

Toomies was convenient because I'd had a drink downtown and didn't want to get in my car to drive to Angel Thai. Typhoon would have been a better option except that I didn't feel like shelling out $24 for the amazing entree that tempts me every time. So, with one drink in me, I made the decision to try out Toomie's again with a friend. Major Problem #1: With sake and beer on the menu, I thought it would be fun to do a sake bomb or two. We ordered accordingly, telling the waiter we were going to "do sake bombs," to which he nodded in approval. He returned shortly after with the sake, the beer, and two champagne flutes...uhh...there is no way to drop a shot of beer into a champagne glass, is there? Especially with no shot glasses...in the whole restaurant? Get a shot glass or two, it's festive--It's sake! Major Problem #2: Did I order the kid's menu Red Curry dish? I wondered. The dish came out very mild in flavor, luke warm, and far too small for an entree size portion. I wasn't expecting super-sized, but I was expecting an entree fit for an adult. The side of brown rice was okay, except that it tasted like it had been sitting on the counter for a few hours and sort of dried up. "Okay" doesn't really cut it with Typhoon and Angel Thai only a few minutes away. Major Problem #3: By this point, I was just tipsy enough to order dessert (had we been able to do sake bombs, who knows what I would've been capable of ordering!). We went for the purple sticky rice contrary to my better judgment to not order a dessert that is described with a color instead of a flavor. The dessert was too sweet AND too salty all at once. Taro, the root veg, had been mentioned late in the menu description as a flavor, but was very difficult to discern with the overly sweet sticky rice and the very salty white creamy glaze. Next time, I will make the extra effort to travel to Angel Thai to have a much higher quality meal with a more competent, attentive staff, with food made to order and properly seasoned.

We unexpectedly stopped in Bend over the 4th of July weekend and ate at Toomies. The only positives were the quick service and the cleanliness. The curry was more grease than curry and coconut milk. The drunken noodles were tasteless, and the other dishes were below average. I wish we would have read the reviews beforehand. Very disappointed.
(2)Hope M.
It sucked.. Do not eat here!!! The only good dish is the pad Thai! I was disappointed :(
(1)Sean D.
Have tried this twice, with unsatisfying results each time. Carry out satay and soup the first time, dine-in Pad Thai later. Both were luke-warm and not very flavorful.
(2)Jane R.
A new friend I met and chose Toomie's for lunch. We were immediately seated and drink orders taken. I enjoyed the Thai Iced Tea and my dining partner, the Lemonade. MMMMMM. Next, we both ordered the Green Curry lunch plate and were so pleased when it quickly arrived. A small bowl of the Green Curry, with sides of Pad Thai and a delicious salad! Great idea! Instead of always serving 'family style', why not have a standard entree choice with accompanyments? The food was just the right portions and very good. The waiter continued being attentive without being pushy. We were able to enjoy good conversation and food in a lively atmosphere. Definitely returning to Toomie's the next time I'm in beautiful Bend!
(5)Britney H.
Yum they have this thinly sliced grilled beef thing that is amazing. I miss it all the time. Drunken noodles are great and so us their fried rice. Spendy for a bunch of stuff but so good.
(4)Thom G.
Lunch at Toomie's is a Bend tradition. I have been having lunch their with the family for years- we used to do our office meeting there as well. So, I am biased. Yes, I know there is another Thai restaurant down the street. They can come see me at Toomie's if they want to have a word. This is one of those support your local businessperson deals, and they don't get much more local than Toomie's. I have eaten at the other place's franchise in Portland, but not yet here. Still, for great Thai, why go anywhere else? Best lunch in town. If you like extra spicy like I do, ask for it- you'll get it!
(5)Josh G.
My wife and I had a pretty poor meal here. The pad thai just wasn't flavorful, and was more of just a noodle dish with some sauce. My wife's plate of food was literally half the size of mine and her noodles were way overcooked and very oily. Avoid!
(1)Leigha T.
Wonderful lunch that impressed my spicy, sweet and salty taste buds! On one plate, the #9 had it all! Great dressing on the salad and noodles with a sauce so tasty I wanted more! Friendly waitstaff and bright atmosphere that cheered my spirits.
(4)Jenn G.
Only one review for this place? Wow. I've eaten at this Thai restaurant more times than I've eaten Thai at home. Looking for great Thai food, fresh and always tasty? Here's the place. My friend who's a local informed me that the lunch specials are the best value, as they dinner portions are essentially the same, merely priced higher. We've ordered takeout for dinner a few times, and whether on china or in paper cartons, it's always consistently good. Note that this place fills up at lunch midweek thanks to its downtown location, so plan accordingly.
(4)kathy m.
the food is very good. I loved the shrimp. It was fresh and flavorful! We'll be back.
(4)Ginger R.
There's good things and bad things about Toomie's and you just have to know what to get and what not to. The good: cheap lunch specials (get fried rice instead of the terrible phat thai), good curries, fried rice, paht woonsen, paht se yu and the BEST spring rolls around. The bad: terrible phat thai ... spotty performance on some dishes ... very sterile atmosphere. Overall the food is good but it lacks sparkle and the taste of true freshness. A lot of it is flat and just not exciting. I suspect the use of bottled sauces and so forth. Very questionable quality meats.
(3)Taylor M.
Yes. My favorite Thai food restaurant ever, anywhere, of all time. Moderately priced and set up for family style eating, the different dishes they serve are amazing. Try the salmon dishes and curry if you want my opinion. Great services, short wait, and in downtown Bend. Nobody does Thai better... except for maybe in Thailand :).
(5)Andre E.
I was seated in kind of a corner boot type table, but other than that no complaints. Ordered some cashew chicken, which came with a nice brown sauce, I was very pleased. Try the duck. Everything I have ordered there has been excellent. Service is very good. I went on a Sunday so I was treated to some live jazz (also on Tues. I think).
(5)Nathan R.
Excellent Food! Great atmosphere! Service was done with a smile and very helpful. It was slow but the place was packed. Would definately come back here my next time in town.
(5)Kkkkk F.
This review is based on my dinner comparison of pad see iew take out from the 3 downtown Thai restaurants. Toomies took 3rd place for taste. It was bland and there were beans sprouts in it. The portion size and price $13 were in the middle. I'd be willing to try toomies again, but i would defiantly not go for the pad see iew.
(2)Haleigh B.
Here at Toomie's right now for the first time ever and I have enough time to write this review as our service is so horrible. The other guests I am with LoVE their dish, I however really dislike mine and am still waiting (30 minutes later) for the waiter to take my plate away. Will NOT come back!
(1)Angela M.
My family and I came in the other night. The atmosphere looked very promising, however the food was disappointing. I ordered the duck and it was terribly dry. Most times I've gotten duck the give you pieces of breast or half the duck. I was presented with ribs with no meat and legs that were dry dry dry. Did I mention it was dry? The spring rolls were sour and soggy. We all left pretty unsatisfied. On the plus side the waitstaff was very friendly and prompt.
(3)Zach G.
Great quality lunch specials with big portions and good fresh ingredients. Also, lots of choices and pretty inexpensive. Worth a try if you're in downtown Bend!!
(5)Bend R.
I hadn't been to Toomies in years and decided to have lunch there with a friend. I am a big fan of Thai and a big fan of spicy food. The service was good, but the menu was hard to read, there were tons of choices in a very small cluttered print and seemed like there were no veggie options, though the waiter was happy to special order something with no meat. I got curry and asked for as spicy as they can make it. I requested that they make me sweat. When they curry came, the waiter offered extra spices and sadly they were required. Even after adding my own chilis I still would have prefered it spicier, it was just kind of bland. Not what I was looking for! The service was good though and we did make it in and out in with in the lunch hour, which can't be said for all downtown bend restaurants. I think I will be sticking to Noi Thai if looking for spicy Thai food in downtown Bend.
(2)Chelsea L.
Great place to go for an inexpensive lunch with big portions and great variety. The menu almost has too many choices, sometimes its really hard to pick. But the food is consistent and tasty. Its definitely not the best thai food ive ever had, but its a good place to stop by for my lunch hour :) very affordable.
(3)Michele R.
Eating at Toomie's is a crap shoot. Depending on who is in the kitchen on a given day you may end up with decent food or an oily mess. Regardless, the prices for dinner are simply too high for even the better quality outcome days. Weekday lunch is a heck of a deal though - various combo plates (include steamed rice, what passes for pad Thai here, iceberg lettuce with peanut sauce salad, and small serving of your entree choice) at a bargain price (under $8). Still, in spite of pretty good gai prow on the lunch special on good days for the kitchen, after several years of being regular Toomie's customers - lunch almost once a week - the inconsistency finally was enough to drive us away. Also an access note: while this says wheelchair accessible on the main heading, if someone in your party uses a wheelchair you'll need to know that all indoor seating is up a couple of steps from the entry level. What owners thought was acceptable for a friend of mine was to haul a dirty piece of plywood out of the kitchen for her to roll up to get to the seating. She declined and left. I would have too had I been she. As alternative to Toomie's, if you're looking for table service Thai food in Bend there is Typhoon (Bond Street) just up the street from Toomies.. (Gourmet and spendy.) Or the "Thai on the Fly" take out offered at the Taste of Thailand drive through (on Greenwood) for friendly people and good food at lower prices. Or there is Angel Thai (Division) which is no better than Toomie's but less expensive. Or Thai Thai in NW Crossing, which on a good day can be good enough if not very spicy. Otherwise, the nearest Thai option is Thai O in Redmond. But, for the most part, we've found it's best to go to Portland for our Thai food "fix".
(2)Dave H.
Bummer. This place used to be good. It's gone down hill big time. We had an experience like other reviewers; the waiter treated us like we were invisible. I don't mind being gracious for slow service, but at least acknowledge that we are there.....sheesh. Ended up at our new favorite Thai place in Bend - NOI.
(1)Cameron W.
Cameron W The place looks good but service is slow and the food is mediocre. The prices aren't bad - around $8 for most lunch entrees, but that's too much for the coconut ice cream with fried bananas. It's not difficult to find good Thai cuisine, and I'd look elsewhere. We're told that Noi is outstanding. We'll let you know.
(2)Kathy K.
So, it's been a bit since I have been at Toomies, but, my co-worker reminded me that I do have some thoughts about Toomies. They do have a fantastic value for their lunch specials. And, most of the time the food has been very good. Two times I have been there with the same girlfriend and both times the service was terrible!!! And, both times it wasn't even busy? It took us 90 min. to have lunch both time! I am a working women, I don't have 90 min. in the middle of my day to have lunch! To boot, one time, my girlfriends pad tai was dead cold, then when she asked to get warm pad tai, they microwaved what she had. Not okay. Great atmosphere, though.....
(3)C. B.
The first visit to Toomies was awesome. Great service, the food was delicious and had large portions. Quick to seat us and serve us, even though the place was full. I didn't pay for the dinner so I didn't realize how expensive it was until my second visit. Ouch! Great food, but way over priced. The peanut tofu was an appetizer I got both times and it was worth every cent though. The only thing aside from the price that I didn't like was that the first time I ordered food I was told it was vegetarian. The second time I ordered I was told that "vegetarian" still meant oyster sauce and other fish sauces were used unless I specified differently. No where on the menu did it say that and so I'm wary to dine there again if they believe fish and oysters are truly vegetarian.

Ok Yelpers I'm giving Toomies a solid 3 stars for the FOOD. Best Thai food in the Bend area in my opinion (I've tried them all). We love to get the Pad Thai with Tofu and the fresh salad roles. The curry is good but not as great as we have had in the Portland area. Overall the dishes we have experienced our delicious and well made. A solid 2 stars is off for the service!! Toomies I hope you would take the time to read all of the below reviews because the structure of your staff is killing the reviews and I know this place is deserving of better reviews if only there was some better time management! My husband and I have eat here for lunch and waited well over an hour, not only did we wait but we weren't even checked in on except to be brought water. We now have resorted to picking up our food to go, which we have never had a complaint with! The food is always delicious and warm to go and we don't have to worry about the un realistic wait. Seems silly though, would be nice to actually enjoy a sit down dinner without having to worry about the wait.
(3)Gregory D.
Toomies has always been our "go to thai" for the past 2 years. It seems to always be consistent with the dishes that we order. Upon our most recent visit, I was a bit taken back at the service. As we entered, there was no host. He suddenly comes busting out of the kitchen and immediately says " just 2?". No " Hi how are you guys" or "welcome to toomies" or even a smile. He appeared to be this little snot nosed highschooler. We didnt even get a " enjoy your meal".He mearly slapped the menus down on the table. I have worked in the hospitality industry for 8 years now and I had a hard time letting that slide. Our server was bit more upbeat but not very attentive. The food was ok, not the usual quality that we always expect. I wonder if theyre under new ownership? Regardless,I hate to say that we may have to explore other competition from now on
(3)Victor Y.
As outstanding a Thai restaurant that I have ever frequented. Up until today, the best Thai restaurants that I have frequented have been in northern CA. In this small town, this restaurant is a real gem. Thin-skinned potstickers that rival that in the best Chinese restuarants. Outstanding curry and vegetable dishes. Minor problem: a family restaurant packed with customers and only 2 servers. We got their early, so no problem
(5)Melisa T.
This restaurant was recommended by another business employee in town - I won't name names because I love the other business and will not hold this recommendation against her. We went in for lunch and were seated right away because it was not busy. The menu has a ton of food listed on it, which I guess is intentional because you need that much time before the waitress comes to your table to take your order. When the waitress finally arrived we ordered rice, the cashew chicken and chicken phad thai (they don't spell it that way - should have been a sign). Apparently the waitress did not understand us, so she brought one full plate of phad thai and one lunch special with what they consider cashew chicken. Ew. That's all I can say. It was edible, I suppose. There are Thai restaurants (in Bellevue, WA for example) with a fraction of menu items that are wonderful. This place needs to pare down the menu and learn to do a few things well. At this point, there are several Thai restaurants in Bend and we intend to try every one of them. We are looking forward to finding our favorite, but this is not it.
(2)Kris P.
We've been to many Thai restaurants. I went this place with my family last night... the food was so horrible and so dark.. i guess they used sweet soy sauce and everything tasted the same... just want to say this place is not real Thai's restaurant!!
(1)Sarah C.
While walking around town at lunch time, I saw this restaurants windows full of people. So, I figured if that many people were eating there, it had to be good and probably affordable. The couple next to me complained and refused to pay for their meal as they said it was the third time the chef hadn't gotten their dishes right, as per their specific requests, and said they would never return. I have to admit, that was a little off putting, since I hadn't gotten my food. The server, who was the only one working the floor, had too many tables to work on her own, but she brought my food out nice and hot. I had a sweet and spicy noodle dish chicken and veggies. It wasn't anything amazing, but it was good and filling for $6.50. I would probably go back, the price was right and the food was decent.
(3)Kaelyn C.
Really great lunch specials. Dinner is a little spendy and takes a while to arrive in my experience. Good traditional Thai food, I just prefer a more modern take on Thai cuisine.
(3)Jeffrey Y.
Seriously yelpers? I had the misfortune of eating at Toomies today and the food was shocking! This is how our dining experience went... We entered as they opened and the host was a blond surfer looking guy with greasy hair who spoke like he was stoned. At this point we should have turned around and left but the overall good reviews and our failure to eat breakfast kept us from finding somewhere else to eat. We were promptly seated and, I will admit, the atmosphere is pretty nice, it's clean and well presented. Then the menus came. Everything is described with meat as the protein source. We asked our server and she told us all their dishes but one can be vegetarian. That's fine but it probably should say the same on the menu. It was a little disconcerting. We ordered, I had the cashew dish with tofu which came with a "salad" and "paht thai." I put the last two components in quotes because the salad was iceberg lettuce with peanut sauce and half a hard-boiled egg on it and the "paht thai" (their spelling) was a pile of oily sweet luke-warm over-cooked noodles. Honestly, it was vile and it had a very strong fish flavor. I guess they think fish sauce is vegetarian friendly (it is not). Without a doubt they have some bucket of this "padt thai" prepared days in advance and they just dump some on your plate. My main entree, the cashew dish with tofu, was mediocre at best. The tofu was fried which could have been okay but it was obviously fried some time ago, not to order, as it was still cold in the middle. It was also labeled as being one of their spiciest dishes and there was absolutely no heat to it at all. What surprised the hell out of me was how busy the place is. It's not even passable Americanized Thai, it's just plain bad. There look to be many other options for Thai food in Bend, go to one of them and give this place a miss. You would get better Thai food from a box at the grocery store.
(1)Piper H.
I will never eat here again- there are MUCH better Thai places in Bend! I used to love one of their soups, until the day I went for lunch and found a fly in it. Gross. The waiter, when he finally decided to come back and check on us, was so kind to give me a whole dollar off my meal! Their service is terrible in more ways than one. I didn't go back after that for quite some time but eventually decided to give it another shot. I ordered a meal to go during work one day. I got back to the office and opened the container and right there on top of the noodles- a huge, nasty beard hair. At least I'm really hoping it was a beard hair. How they missed it when they boxed it up is beyond me. That was two strikes and I'm completely unwilling to give them an opportunity for a third.

The lunch special is the way to go here - it includes one of the food items with rice and fried goodie for something like $4.95 or $5.95 - I forgot. Every time I have eaten there I have gotten the menu item that is on special and have not been disappointed. It's not the best Thai food that I have ever had (I like Angel Thai better) but for the price and for being downtown it's a pretty good place. They do not sell beer/wine/booze, so pick somewhere else if you are looking to have an afternoon gala... The inside is pretty boring... kinda cute, and like Jody S. says, nice window seating, but there's definitely a tightness factor. If it's nice out, you can sit outside, but there aren't many tables out there - so don't count on it. It's pretty busy at lunch, and doesn't seem to be as busy during dinner. Don't go in a hurry though... because I've never had quick service there - which is definitely an issue. Usually people have to get back to work when they're eating lunch, and even though it's busy, I feel that they should be able to work out a better system. So, in a nutshell: good food, decent atmosphere, average service, and good lunch-special price.
(3)Peter S.
We just returned from Toomies, and we left very disappointed. First off, they sat our party of 5 at a table clearly intended for 4. OK, not too big of a deal, as it was pretty busy. We almost immediately ordered our food and drinks, and were happy to see our drinks and appetizer arrive quickly. Unfortunately it went downhill very quickly after that. We didn't get our entrees for over an hour and a quarter after we ordered, and probably an hour after they served our appetizer. Typically we are very patient, and can handle a slow kitchen if the server is up-front and honest about it being slow. Instead, they seem to have a policy there to ignore customers during a busy time. There was a party of 8 that was seated after us, and they had paid their bill and left prior to us getting our entrees. As far as the food goes, it was very mediocre. The kitchen got one of the orders incorrect (added peanuts when asked for none - sure glad she doesn't have an allergy or we'd be in the emergency room right now!), and all of our food was pretty bland. It was an unfortunate end to a fabulous day in Bend. On top of that, they charged $12/each for a vodka/coke (single, not double). We love Thai, and this was our 2nd Thai restaurant we went to on this trip to Bend. We went to Noi a couple days ago, and while it was expensive, the food was incredible and the service perfect. Noi was totally worth it. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU GO TO NOI INSTEAD OF TOOMIES. YOU'LL HAVE A MUCH BETTER MEAL. Don't go to Toomies.
(1)Kristine A.
It's ok. Cheap lunch hour prices. I would NEVER pay full price
(3)Larry S.
Toomie's has always been among my favorite Bend restaurants (we live here), in spite of a notably bad lunch a couple years ago, where it took them literally two hours to get a simple lunch dish on our table. The service and food other than that instance, has been very good. Tonight's meal was a different story. After waiting 20 minutes for a table for 3 (on a fairly busy Friday night), we were seated at a window seat, where we waited about 10 minutes for water, and another 10 for the waiter to take our order. We ordered three beers, an appetizer and a couple entrees. The appetizer arrived in about 15 minutes, but no drinks. 20 minutes later we initially asked another waiter to let our guy know that we hadn't received drinks yet, then repeated this to the guy who was filling water glasses, who informed us that we needed to tell our waiter. Our 3 beers arrived after nearly 45 minutes, and a full 30 minutes after our appetizer arrived. The table next to us was served their beers in less than 5 minutes, by the same waiter. The food arrived a few minutes later, and was fairly good, although neither entrée was hot enough, and for $15 apiece, they should have been cooked and served immediately. They weren't. I'm the cook of the house, and I put on some very big meals, and know what timing is all about. The system at Toomie's is very very bad. The waiter (who's been there a while - he waited on us on another occasion) simply isn't organized. Liquor in particular is something you want to get on the table immediately, since the markup is ridiculous and it's likely you'll sell them a second round. I prefer to write rave reviews, and in actuality most of the ones I've written are for exceptionally good food and service. An example is Zydeco, which is the best food AND service in Bend, and is a short 1/2 block away. This is where I'll eat the next time I'm downtown and hungry, and it's very unlikely I'll ever eat at Toomie's again. I left a five dollar tip for a $46 dollar meal, which is also uncharacteristic of me, and it was also arguably too generous at that.

Great lunch menu with great prices! Always quick. I work downtown and enjoy eating here often

Average as Thai places go. Ingredients are of good quality, but there was nothing outstanding here. A good fall-back place if you cannot get into some of the other crowded places in the downtown Bend area. Lots of seating, good value.

Its really hard to give a review of the food for this place when I did not have the opportunity to try the food. Did not even get seated. My sister, her boyfriend, and I went for a late lunch. We walked in and watched two wait staffers walk by us 5 times and act like we were not there. They would look at us, but it was as if we were invisible. My sister wanted to leave right after the first 3 times the wait staff walked by us, but I am a bit more patient. I told her that if they walked by us again and say nothing, we will leave. Of course one of them walked right by us , glanced at us and said nothing. A simply "please give me a sec," or " I will be right there," would have been sufficient, but we got nothing. They treated us like we had the plague. We felt so awkward we began to search for other signs telling us to seat our self, but all we saw was the sign which says to wait. On the 6th time of being ignored I said screw it and we left and walked around the corner to a different Thai restaurant who were very friendly, nice and informative about what they were serving. I usually give placed more then one shot, but Toomies will never get my money. There is a difference between bad food, bad service and being totally ignored when u first walk in. At least seat us and take our money so u make something, dont let the money walk out the door. I guess I dont get it. I should thank Toomies though, because without their crummy service I would have never found Noi right around the corner within walking distance.

I live in a black hole for Asian food, our sushi is OK, but our Thai is pretty abysmal. So I am always looking for Thai on a trip. This is my parents' favorite in Bend so we went there. It was pretty good. I got curry and so did my stepmom and ours was really good. Perfectly cooked, good spice, they do brown or jasmine rice to accommodate different diets. My dad got an orange or tangerine chicken that I thought was just too sweet and not much better than the crummy Chinese food around where I live for a much higher price. My boyfriend got a duck dish that was supposed to be incredibly spicy and it was alright but not spicy at all. The Thai Iced Tea was really good. They have a big wine list and all the right beers. The service was pretty so-so. They brought us someone else's take out and getting our to-go boxes was hard and they brought us the wrong bill. There were only 6 or so tables so that seemed a little ridiculous to be that confused over a handful of tables. We had 2 people working our table too which got confusing and awkward. It was fine though.

I ordered this through Bend Take Out. They always do a great job. I decided on the crispy fried Tofu and phai thai with chicken. It was okay, I can get much better Thai food in my hometown. With all the yummy places to eat in Bend, I don't think I will be going here again.
