It was the first night of my two-week road trip and I couldn't have asked for a more welcoming first night stay. I was greeted by the innkeeper, Sherry, at the gate in the driveway. There is a gated area in the backyard to park, so no worries with street parking. There's a large, casual backyard area with some tables & chairs. It's shared with the women's apartment building behind the house. I only met one of the ladies staying there and she was very friendly. I was also greeted by their two dogs, who were both very sweet & quiet! I love dogs but Sherry definitely could have kept them away if I'd desired. Both bedrooms were upstairs. I stayed in the single and happened to be the only guest so I had the bathroom to myself. Sherry also offered me the use of a huge soaking tub in the other bathroom. My room was large & comfortable with a tree right outside the window. There was one of those tall oscillating fans and despite the hot day, Sherry had the room cooled down quite a bit when I arrived. The location was a short few mile drive from downtown, where it was easy to find parking, even on a Saturday night. It was very quiet at night, except for the sound of a train whistle at one point, which seems to be part of the Bend environment. The bathroom & room were both extremely clean. Sherry made me the most delicious breakfast: a bowl of fresh raspberries & blueberry/cream cheese-stuffed french toast. It was a great start to the day and Sherry was delightful company. She also passed on a great tip to checkout nearby Pilot Butte Park which was only a few blocks away. It offered an incredible view. Removed 1 star for very minor things like the lack of wifi (I didn't actually remember to ask until it was too late in the night but there didn't seem to be any) & no blinds in the room, but I would definitely go back. The price can't be beat for the quality of the stay. If you're looking for a hip, sophisticated decor, this may not be for you, but the country decor made me feel right at home in a strange city.
