Conveniently located on the top of the Pine Martin lift, this is a good place to stop while you are on the mountain. This spacious lodge features a food court, bar, coffee bar and a restaurant. The food is average mountain food similar to bar food.

We were excited to try the Sunset Diner at Pine Marten for the first time, but when we arrived the mountain was socked in with cloud. So laughing it off, we decided to enjoy a nice meal out anyway. Unfortunately, this was not to be either. So what do you get when the view is gone? You expect nice ambiance, good service, good food, and a fair price for what you get. Pine Marten missed every single expectation. The evening started well enough with a nicely stocked bar (had to be paid separately) and an area to wait and we were shown to our table quickly. Ambiance: The area is little more than a cafeteria. Throwing a cloth table cloth and providing cloth napkins does not really cut it. I would have expected a bit more effort like rugs, flowers, or candles or something to reflect what they are trying to do. Service: Our server was friendly enough, but other than the initial order and bill collecting, we saw very little of her. Upon a drink order I showed her the lipstick stain on my water glass and asked for another. Thirty minutes later I finally had to flag someone down to get another glass. My husband never did receive his drink. There was a huge wait between our starter and our main. When our mains finally came, they were plonked down quickly. I had to again chase someone down for a condiment. Food: The menu was safe. This tells me that at least they will cook these items well. For a starter, I chose the Baked Stuffed Mushrooms ($16) and received 5 swiss brown mushrooms that were fairly bland and almost cold. For my main I chose the Broken Top Burger ($18). The meat was gray and bland, the burger was dry, and the bread tasted stale. The fries (more like curly "wedges") were cold and came with no sauce. The only nice thing on the plate was a thin sliver of a spicy pickle (not even a half). My husband was equally unimpressed by the Bacon Wrapped Scallops ($22) --cold, and the Smoked Pork Tenderloin ($22) --sides cold. We didn't even bother to get dessert, but I did ask for a coffee. It was the level of coffee you'd get at the cafeteria. Value: So we didn't have the view, but even if we had seen anything, we would have felt like we paid a ridiculous amount for terrible food and service. At least throw in the price of the lift ticket for people with dinner reservations. Asking customers to pay an extra $14 per person just to get the restaurant is a bit much. Bottom line: If this restaurant was in town, it would not survive. Save your money. Forget the restaurant. Pack a nice picnic. Bundle up. Buy a lift ticket and have your own sunset dinner.

2 stars only because the view and ride up are beautiful and worth the trip. Had a reservation, were seated 15 minutes later. Drinks and appetizers came out fairly quickly--the stuffed mushrooms were edible, but mostly tasteless. After about an hour (longest I've ever waited without walking out--probably would have walked out had we not been atop a mountain and hungry). I ordered a the Brokentop Burger medium well, and was served raw meat. I guessssss you could say it was suuuuuper rare? It will be a long time before I muster up the courage to eat a burger again...if ever. It was that bad. The manager did comp $55 off the total, and offered to bring out anything off the menu for free, but the thought of waiting another hour for possibly inedible food seemed less than appealing. The overall feeling of the other diners accompanying me (all of whom did receive cooked food) was that it was overpriced, but decent. My father seemed to think the green beans were inedible, but he does have a very sophisticated pallet. I recommend the ski lift. That was fun.

The view? Amazing. The food? Meh. My boyfriends family and I came up here to have lunch and explore Mount Bachelor a bit. Getting to the place itself is a unique experience. We took a chairlift up to the Pine Marten Lodge, not your usual walk or drive to get something to eat. While everything else about the experience (the view, the ranger and his dog outside, the hike down and disc golf course) was all great the food was nothing to get excited about. I had the chicken falafel and I think it's just one of those things that the street carts do best. Not too flavorful and the chicken was quite dry. I guess not much can be expected from a place that is essentially a cafeteria during the ski season. Everything else about the mountain is great though.

Had dinner on 7/20 with friends. Ride up was great, and the cocktails were fine. Seated on time, and checked out menu. Brought our own wine to be corked. Server had another person open the wine and we ordered. Server checked on us ONE time during dinner. Food ok, but not stellar. I'd be really disappointed if we had to pay the $28 for two to take the chair lift (we have season passes). After the one time check in, server presents the check. BEWARE- a $35 corkage fee for the $20 bottle of wine. I've never seen that big of corkage fee in Bend, or anywhere else in fact. Server and/or the person who served the wine should have told us the fee, since it was not on the menu. I'd go back, only with out of town guests as a cool place to watch the sunset, and probably then only for cocktails.

Excellent food and service. Scott, our server, made it a memorable experience. Watching the sunset after dinner topped off a splendid evening. Can't wait to go back next year. I would highly recommend it

July 5, 2014. Opening night. I cannot give it lower than one star otherwise I would. Here is how the events of the evening unfolded. We arrived with a party of seven people at 5:15pm. The host accidentally tried to seat us at a table for four. After waiting a handful of minutes in the middle of the dining room they finally seated us. Upon getting settled into our seats the server did not supply enough menus for the party and we had to ask twice for more. After about 10 to 15 minutes, the server made it back to our table to take our drink orders. Another 10 to 15 minutes passed by then our drinks showed up sans two of the drinks. And then another 10 minutes passed with the other two drinks. The server then took our appetizer order along with our meals. Several of us order salads to come before the main course. 30 minutes then transpired then the appetizers arrived. I have to say, they were yummy. We ordered the Hush Puppies and Mac & Cheese. However, the server forgot to enter our salad order. AND WE WAITED AND WAITED. We finished our starters then waited over an hour before the salads were served. All but two were delivered. Then another 30 to 40 minutes goes by then the main dishes were placed except for two, both were Filet Mignon. One was ordered medium rare and the other medium. After everyone else had completed their meals, the filets came out of the kitchen 25 minutes later. Both were ice cold and bloody in the middle. We then sent them back to the kitchen, 15 minutes later they both arrived and were burnt to a crisp. We then called the manager over to rectify the situation and he was not apologetic or even phased by his kitchen staff lack of performance. A kitchen staffer came out and offered to remove the bad meals from the bill but offered no compensation at all of any time except for a free dessert. It was sad. When the bill came, they had mixed up everyone's order so we just said screw it, we paid and so after a THREE and a HALF HOUR ordeal we left. Two members of our party did not get to eat dinner. Words of warning!!!! The Open Table Reviews must be doctored or placed by phantom shoppers because we were not the only ones who suffered. I will say, our server was very sweet and was doing the best job she could considering the pack of idiots she had to work with in the kitchen. I still feel they owe of us a complete refund across the board and a gift card to eat somewhere else. My review: don't waste your time or money. Maybe drive into Bend and eat at the Red Robin instead. Better food and better service.

We were so surprised to find out they had "Sunset Dinners". We had a wonderful time riding up to the Resturant on the lift, the views on the way up we're beautiful. We weren't expecting such a fantastic experience. The service and the food were far beyond our expectation. Our server was very friendly, timely and attentive and the food was "over the top" delicious. The menu was filled with so many tasty choices, it was hard to choose. The chef (John Calvin) did an excellent job on every dish we ordered. All our steaks we cooked exactly as ordered and tastefully plated in the most visually pleasing way. The dishes were all made with the freshest local ingredients too. All of our dishes were the best we'd experienced. We couldn't stop raving about our food to each other, it was both creative and delicious. After our wonderful dining experience we gathered outside to watch the sunset. It was a gorgeous sight framed by the breathtaking views of the mountains. After the sunset we headed down the mountain on the lift experiencing more spectacular views. Overall, we can't wait to do it again.
