Needing a breakfast more hearty than the cheap continental that came for free with our hotel room, we hit the net and searched for Bend's best breakfast. Word had it that Jake's Diner was the answer to that call. And that's no joke. De-aaaaaaaaamn this place is the answer for all your breakfast needs. And bring a BIG appetite, too, because the offerings are fresh, flavorful and very, very plentiful. My husband had Jake's Long Hauler... a bit of everything for breakfast. It was all good; the eggs were cooked perfectly; my husband always asks for over HARD and they hit them perfectly; still fresh and flavorful but definitely no runny yolks! The star of the show were the pancakes. WOW. HUGE. They really should warn you... HUGE. Times two. All the butter and syrup ypu can handle. And t's cute how they punch a little hole in the center to sit your cup of syrup, leaving two little mini cakes on top. To share, of course. I had the "small" chicken fried steak. It's "only" 6 ounces. The normal portion is twice that. With a biscuit bigger than the palm of my hand and the most perfectly prepared hash browns -- seriously... brown and crisp on the outside and steamed to creamy perfection on the inside -- this is a breakfast that will wish for often! Service was homey and friendly; we overheard one woman stating she'd worked there for 16 years. The people next to us commented they'd lived in Bend some years ago, moved away, but came back and knew they had to come back to Jakes. They were happy to find it as fantastic as they had remembered it. It's not fancy... but it's damn good food!

Favorite breakfast spot in Bend, OR ..I literally CRAVE this place!

I very much enjoyed eating at Jake's Diner. Go hungry or plan on splitting a meal with one or two friends. They are HUGE! I did read the reviews and saw how other people mentioned this and my wife suggested we split, but I guess my manhood was at stake, so we each ordered our own. My wife went for the short stack of pancakes (two cakes) as she wasn't that hungry. When they arrived I was surprised they weren't brought on a fork lift. These pancakes were 12 inches across. No...I am not exaggerating. Go see for yourself. My wife ate half of one and was done. I ordered the standard bacon and eggs, and while I finished it, I am a big eater Unlike many restaurants, the hash browns were cooked all the way through and were delicious. While we were there, the Bend Band of Brothers (a military veteran organization) was having a gathering. Imagine about 50+ war veterans in one place. I wish I had a couple hours to just sit down and listen to many of them share their story. It looked as if there were veterans from every war starting with World War II. It was awesome!

SOLID 3.5 stars. It's a diner selling diner food so it's probably never going to get more than 3.5 stars for me because it's just simple food. But they do these simple foods pretty damn well. The first time I ate here, I knew the food wasn't awe inspiring or anything to write home about but it wasn't until I finished my plate (of the special - chicken fried steak with hashbrown, eggs, and toast for $8 and change) that I realized that nothing on my plate looked or tasted bad. i finished everything. I really get off on hashbrowns, as you will soon realize from this post, and hashbrowns (HB's) are something I'm kinda wary about in diners. Usually it's just a sloppy mess. Some places won't brown them all the way so just the top is crispy but everything underneath looks raw. And if you ask for extra crispy HB's, the top will come out black, but everything underneath is still the same shit. It's just unappealing and unappetizing and gross. At Jake's, the BD and I noticed that the potatoes were browned on all sides. Nice touch (hey it's the simple things in life)! The second time, I ordered the kielbasas with eggs and extra crispy HB's and a side of biscuit. The biscuits were huge and fluffy and though not super flakey, still super duper yummy. My kielbasas weren't anything special but they hit the spot and with my over easy eggs, I wished I had some white rice to finish the whole meal off Asian style. And last but not least, Holy Fuck, the HB's were excellent!!! When ordered extra crispy, all the potato pieces seemed to separate and got their fair share of oil and heat so the whole thing just got this nice golden brown and some parts where chewier (in a good way) then others because of they way it sat on the heat with the oil but not in a greasy way, and the other parts were really crispy but not at all in a burnt bitter way... so yummy! Best part of the meal for sure! I could write a haiku about their extra crispy hashbrowns, it's sick. UPDATE*** The HBs are even good COLD! Had some leftovers and after a few hours, ate them right out of the container with the fridge door still open. No need to warm em'! WHAT THE FUCK! BD gets ham steak and eggs every single time he's here and he always says it hits the spot. His waffles are good too. Jakes is crowded on weekends but they're plenty staffed and the food actually comes out pretty quickly. It's always good service and people seem friendly, and the portions are huge.

Not sure how this place has so many good review and awards. Must be that the people that raided this place have no taste buds and have never been to a good place for food. Anyway, don't waste your time on this place.
(2)Lew I.
Go to this place, especially if you're hungry! Incredible portions. Good honest American food. Very reasonable prices. Update: Back here again a year later. The portions are still utterly huge! Even more menu diversity -- something for everyone in the family. For dessert a huge milkshake or 1/5 a pie! Delish!

My husband used to be a truck driver and always stopped at the old location. We discovered where they moved to and now we take everyone we know there. No one has been disappointed yet. Large portions and the most important, the food is good and so is the service.
(5)Tim E.
Had breakfast here a few times & had no complaints. Huge portions, great service, and the food is good.... you won't leave here hungry or disappointed.
(4)Crystal R.
THis is the classic diner you dream of: constantly busy, portions that are ridiculous in size, and a cash register in the front. BEST PLATE: on Sundays they have their famous chicken fried steak, but a smaller version. IF you have ever seen the full size version come out of the kitchen, you know it is enough for three people! Absolutely adore this place: they do everything perfect!

We stopped at Jakes Diner for lunch while on vacation. The food was good! The staff was welcoming, friendly and nice! We would definitely come back again.
(4)Carol P.
We made the decision we wanted a diner for dinner on our first night of our trip. Jake's fit the bill. This is not fine dining but it is good dining. Our waiter was friendly and welcoming. I decided on the chicken fried steak and my husband the meat loaf. Real diner cuisine! Portions are HUGE! My chicken fried steak dinner arrived on two plates, one for the potato and green beans, the other a platter of steak and gravy! The steak was tender which was a relief as it has been years since I have tried this dish. Beans were tasty with chopped onion and bacon. The meatloaf was smothered in gravy with mushrooms and very good. A huge portion. We went back to the hotel with half of each. Luckily there was a refrigerator! We had some for lunch today. It was a good visit and I would come back again. Would love to try their breakfast.

If you are looking for one of the weirdest experiences of your life and authentic diner food, this is the place to go. I went here at 11a.m. on a Tuesday morning and sat at the bar. The bar's chairs were brown rolling chairs from the 70's. To the left of me were a few 60-70 something men, some wearing cowboy hats and all looking like throw-backs to another time. We're talking trucker hats, suspenders, mustaches and discussions about horses and buying land. I desperately wanted to take a picture, but learned the hard way that my new phone cannot shut off it's shutter noises. The wait staff was a strange mixture of people. A lot of stuck-in-another-era hair-do's. A punk kid running the register. Regardless of what they looked like, the service was good and they all seemed to be in a pleasant mood. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros. It was seriously delicious. A little heavy on the cheese, but I'm sure that's the kind of thing they're going for with the "biggest portions in central oregon" motto. The hashed browns, which I didn't realize came with it, were good, but a bit greasy. At least they were under-salted. Coffee was a little on the watery side, but it tasted pretty good for what it is. I'm sure a lot of people like it that way. I will definitely be coming back, but not too often. My doctor might complain about my cholesterol levels if I came here more than once a month.

ummm. In what universe does Jake's Diner have 4 stars??? I use to go get coffee there at 3am when it was still an actual truckstop and within walking distance of my house (which was the only cool thing about it). Even in a drunken haze this food sucked a fatty. It is ironically large portions of food that you will not want to eat. Straight out of a Sysco jar. The fruit topping on waffles is literally a jar of cheap pie filling . . . I don't know what else to say. I guess if I had to choose between Shari's, Ihop, Denny's or Jakes it would be Jakes every time. but I would rather just not eat.
(1)Kelsae S.
Delicious food with very generous portions! Everything is cooked to order, and did not disappoint. I had the stuffed french toast and my husband ate the farmer's omelet. Both were awesome and we all but licked our plates clean! We also took home a banana cream pie, which was probably the best diner pie I'd ever had. Jake's serves from their breakfast menu all day (hooray, breakfast for dinner!) but they also have sandwiches, burgers, and a few entree plates (I think I saw a chicken fried steak on their menu somewhere...). Perfect for big groups who can't agree on what to eat. Others have mentioned that the place is tricky to find, which is true - it's tucked behind the Chevron station and the liquor store on highway 20.
(5)Liz O.
Huge portions, appetizing meals, decent price, and a family-like staff. Everyone at the table ordered something different, and everyone left happy. Tons to choose from, too! As far as the breakfast goes anyway. This is good!!! I don't go to Bend often at all, but if I do go again, I wouldn't mind stopping by here again. We happened to visit on a very busy day yet the waitress was still super attentive.

The last time I ate at Jakes was way back in 1979 when it was part of a truck stop. No more; the truck stop is gone and the restaurant is now just that. But it appears as though the cooks think they are still feeding a long haul trucker whose next meal isn't coming for about fourteen hours. I'm pretty sure that someone could have mentioned ordering a small. Not. So I ended up with a massive mountain of 'Everything' omelet. Thankfully I had the presence of mind to ask them to hold the toast. However I recommend you try the toast as it is thick and fluffy. The omelet was arguably the best I have had since 1979. There is even a woman going around to tables with children making balloon animals. It was crowded and loud with lots of families and XXL servings. Everything you want on a Sunday morning. The only thing that would have granted a fifth star was if I hadn't taken so much food in a togo container that evenutally ended up in the garbage landfill. Smaller servings equals less wasted food.

It is what it is... diner food: done well, generous portions w/ affordable prices, great service from a veteran staff. The commitment to the community hanging on the walls! ...it's a solid
(5)Byron Y.
Was not disappointed by Jakes, even when set up by all the 5 star reviews in Yelp. Definitely off the beaten path - you will have to drive a little to find it (well off the main road). But if you like old school diners with massive portions, you've come to the right place. Jakes is from another era, maybe the 50's or 60's. Our waitress was very nice and friendly - you'd swear her name was Flo. We ordered up a steak dinner special, a Cobb salad, an omelette, and a chicken breast dinner (w/Jack cheese and mushrooms). Everything tasted very good to excellent, and all were delivered in generous portions. Beware the 2 sizes of omelettes - the small size is 4 eggs, and the large is 6! Are you kidding me - a half dozen eggs??? I could hear my cardiologist rubbing his hands together in glee like Mr. Burns - "...eeeexxxcellentttt..." Mine came with a side of hot, fluffy pancakes that looked like a full stack anywhere else. The Cobb salad was enormous and generous with meat, cheese. The steak dinner was tasty and good sized as well. Perhaps the most disappointing thing was the little side of green beans on the entrees - kind of overcooked. Good atmosphere, friendly service, good flavors and excellent value. Bring your appetite and a portable defibrillator. This will be the only meal you will need for the day.

OMG! Pancakes that I could actually use as a sleeping bag! Of all the places I eat, of all the types of food I love, home-town diners/truck-stops are my favorite. And Jake's...well...Jake's is tied for my absolute favorite place ever. Yes...that's a tall order. And yes...this is there. I'm going to add to this review from time to time as I think about it. Each time I write something, I start getting the shakes and need to head over to Jake's and take care of it. So bear with me. I have been here myself, with family, and with friends multiple times in the past 6 months. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Not a single visit has left me unsatisfied or complaining about any part of the meal. Not once. Portions are HUGE! I say this like it's a good thing. It is. Sometimes it's way too much at once, and we take it home for another meal. I have learned to order their "specials" because the portions are just right for an adult. Like I ordered their Spaghetti Special a few weeks back and the bowl was larger than I have ever seen. Another patron ordered the spaghetti from the regular menu and hers was almost twice the size. Breakfast...simply awesome. Fast, fresh, and FRIGGIN' HUGE PORTIONS! I don't even know if I can elaborate more on this...it's Saturday...I'm talking about Jake's...and...well...gotta go... Oh...the place it's tied with? Hwy 29 Cafe in Napa, CA.

Great food, exactly what you would expect from a local diner. Exceptionally friendly employees and very involved ownership. I would give it 5 stars but it's a little bit expensive for diner food in my opinion.
(4)T L.
Great breakfast! Timely service, hot & tasty food, and a decent atmosphere. Had the carnitas scramble and it was not too spicy or cilantro'd out like some Mexican style dishes, and the pork was well seasoned and very good. Hit the spot!
(4)LISA S.
Jake's doesn't take their claim to fame lightly. "Biggest Portions in Central Oregon!" heh. What I got was the "Biggest Portions since leaving the Midwest!" Don't be fooled by the menu where things sound normal. A 4 egg omelet? Yeah? so? I eat 4 egg omelette's standing on one foot.I'm a corn-fed dame from the great Midwest, bring it yo. What they DON'T mention on the menu, is that they use pterodactyl Eggs from the nearby lava pit, and that omelet can feed a family of four. This "plate" place before me was actually a "platter" with mounds and mounds of fresh goodies inside my omelet, as well as 8 spuds worth of golden hash browns. Being from a family that required you to eat everything on your plate, going to a place like Jake's is dangerous business. I kept it cool though, and have adapted more of a west coast attitude about eating. I just eat till I'm FULL, not till I'm in cardiac arrest. I only finished about half of my meal, and dumped coffee on the rest, to keep from instinct from taking over. SUPER friendly and fast service. A leetle more expensive and varied of a menu of what you might expect from a traditional greasy spoon truck stop (must cater to tourist/yuppies!) Interesting gramma/travel/memorobilia related decor. Did you know that ZZ Top likes to eat here, when in Bend? Don't forget to grab a meatloaf sized Rice Krispie treat or platter sized cinnamon bun upon leaving. They are laid everywhere, mocking you and yours that you couldn't even finish the breakfast. I grabbed one for later, and that was met with a raised eyebrow from the BF and the server who cleared my coffee laden leftovers. Okay, okay, I have had enough. Why the three stars? It's more like 3.5--- I'd much rather have smaller portions for less money. I hate wasting food, almost as much as I hate wasting money.
(3)CJ S.
Been eating Jake's for YEARS... still the best deal in Central Oregon for tasty food with crazy large portions. My wife loves the Spaghetti, and the breakfasts are all very tasty. I really enjoy the friendly staff and atmosphere. Thanks for being there Jake's.

Location update-- Jakes is no longer located on S. Hwy 97. The truck stop closed several years ago and Jakes is now located at 2210 NE Hwy 20. It's definitely OFF the beaten path. Yes, it's on Hwy 20, but it's behind the Chevron and the liquor store. You will NOT see it from the Hwy. With that said, Jakes is an institution here in Bend. The diner was part of Jake's Truck Stop at the south end of town and was popular with both the truckers and locals alike. When they closed the truck stop, Lyle & Judy Hicks relocated the diner to it's present location and no longer cater to the trucking community. Well, if they do, it can't be anything like what the days were back at the old South 97 location because there is NO room for semi's at their current facility. At any rate, Jakes has built such a loyal following from Bendites and other visitors who seek them out, that from all appearances their business seems to be thriving. Jakes is your typical diner fare with ginormous portions. And I mean GINORMOUS. You cannot possibly leave this place hungry. I am not a regular at this establishment, but have frequented it from time to time. If you go there with the mind set that this is a locals place where "everybody knows your name" you've got the right idea. Same goes for the food. It's not 5 star, but it's what you would expect from a place like this. Good stick to your ribs grub. No frills. Just lots of it and good dose of cholesterol to boot. One thing I would also like to say about Jakes is their commitment to the community and supporting our veterans and other worthwhile causes....they are always there. Giving and supporting wherever they can. Be through catering or just plain donating the food and proceeds. Lyle and Judy truly know what it means to "give back to the community".

This place is a historic Bend landmark -- the best family truck stop food and the largest portions in Central Oregon. My partner and i stopped here for lunch during a conference break - the carne asada burrito was loaded with pork, veggies, olives, cheese; and enough to feed four people. Their chicken fried steak breakfast is so huge it is served on two plates. Truckers, families, bikers and country music stars stop here when they go through Bend - you will see tons of autographed photos on the walls. Their desserts are amazing, too - each piece of chocolate cream pie must weigh a pound, loaded with choc, creme, whipped cream, and choc. syrup on top. Large groups welcome.
(5)Mitch G.
PAY ATTENTION, I DID NOT EAT HERE. This is for those of you that want a Chicken Fried Steak for breakfast. I am not judging it I am just letting you know that it is frozen not fresh. It is an out of the way drive so this is to help those save them sometime. On the other hand the owner was very nice and forthcoming, thanks. I just read the owners comments. There was no animosity in my first post, just a fact. Not sure about the contacting me as I have received numerous replies from owners on here without any trouble. As for my rating it is flat out because this place serves a Chicken Fried Steak that is one of those massed produced Hockey Pucks you are seeing everywhere these days. I refuse to eat food that is "fake". If people are too lazy to actually cook something from scratch and would rather open a pkg from some food service company where the food is full of crap well then that is their choice. But It is my right to point that out. People who don't mind eating highly processed food will still go here, and those that prefer something made from scratch might not. Either way it is still my/their choice. I hope you do well.
(2)Jack E.
Generous portions, great food, value pricing! Visiting Bend & ate here by choice. I wouldike to take Makes with me.
(5)Michelle D.
The long hauler is made for one person but it feeds like 5 people, and its only 5 bucks. nice
(4)Austin F.
I have been coming here since I was a little kid. Every summer my family would go camping in Oregon and we would always have to make the stop at Jakes. We just visited back today for the first time in more than 5 years, and it is still just as great as I remember! Their portions are huge and the food is great.
(5)Sarah S.
I love Jakes! Huge portions, great food, and close to home. If you love country fried steak, this is the best! They also have stuffed French toast that's awesome!
(5)LaTricia L.
I've been going to Jake's every since they were at the south end of town and there is one way to describe why they are still in business. Great food, Large portions, Great service, Friendly, and feels like home. If you have not eaten here yet it is a MUST in Central Oregon.
(5)David M.
Love this place! Its just good ol' American Truck Stop food, nothing fancy about it! No muss, no fuss, no thrills, just good food and lots of it! Service is super-friendly and attentive without hovering. Everything on the menu is excellent and you get plenty of it. Hot and fresh coffee every minute of every day. For the price, the food is excellent. Heck, for twice the price, the food would still be excellent. Band of Brothers meets here on Mondays, but they're vet-friendly all the time. Everyone's your friend here!
(5)Jessica O.
Jake's is my favorite truck stop. The service is friendly, the restaurant has been clean since their remodel and the food is exactly what you want from a truck stop. I crave the chicken fried steak and eggs on cold winter mornings and my kids ask for the pigs in a blanket regularly. It's just one of those comfort food places that you need on your eating out list. The portions are large and they encourage sharing. Plus the biscuits and gravy are delish!
(4)Teresa S.
Jake's Diner has large portions at reasonable prices. I've eaten here probably a dozen times and the food is always good and the service is always fast. It's your quintessential diner with tables, booths, and counter seating.
(4)Shari P.
Another hidden gem this time in Bend. The one piece of advice I would give you is to definitely split your meal with someone else as a serving sizes are a giant Normas. The food is really good homestyle cooking with all your favorites. Service is excellent. We go again in a heartbeat.
(4)Food L.
For traditional American fare - this place can't be beat. The portions are huge and full of flavor. Food tastes homemade, but they get it out to you surprisingly quick. My fave is the mozzarella smothered chicken - this dish is mouthwatering to say the least. Really excellent burgers too. And of course the pies. Not one of these pies will let you down - and if you bring their pie tim back, you get a $1.50 credit on your next pie.
(5)tom k.
Great prices and awesome food. I loved the Rodeo Chicken minus the bbq sauce and added the Guacamole. Best Chicken Sandwich in Town. A must try!
(4)Maryann M.
Another amazing breakfast at Jakes Diner! Hubs and I split the large Farmers omelet made with 6 eggs and stuffed with ham and other goodies AND came with 2 gigantic pancakes. We ate ALOT and still had leftovers. Service is friendly and fast. They keep the coffee refills coming too. Highly recommend Jakes- certainly was worth the drive from our resort!
(5)Heather W.
We recently went here during our vacatIon to Sun River. My husband wanted to go out for breakfast so we picked Jake's. Upon walking through the door I kinda wanted to leave. It looked rundown and dingy. However, based on reviews, we decided to stay. Definitely wish we had gone somewhere else. The waitress barely said a single word to us. Don't know if she was having a bad morning or if that's her personality, but that really put me off. Next I sat and watched the waitresses as they got water for guests. They used the cups to scoop ice out of what looked like a sink and then filled the glasses with the water from the sink faucet. The only time I saw them use the actual water dispenser was when it was guests they knew that sat at the bar. The food was fine, nothing to write home about. I've had better at Denny's. And it wasn't cheap for what we got. I read somewhere that they had Denny's prices. I don't agree with that at all. I could get the same amount of food for half the price at Denny's. Definitely won't be going there again.
(1)Muranda M.
Their food is absolutely amazing. It fills you up, and you stay full for a long time.
(5)Shannon P.
I have two favorites from this traditional American restaurant. The first one is the breakfast burrito, this burrito is not for the light hearted. This is a beast of a burrito packs tons of meats and veggies and don't forget the cheese. My second favorite is another breakfast item, the Stacker is another hearty meal, hash browns with hollandaise, eggs and toast. By no means is this a health conscious place but if you have had a long night and need an amazing breakfast that could feed an army this is your place.
(5)Jeannie W.
Food was good (not excellent, but good) hearty portions. Prices aren't bad, customer service could use some work. During our breakfast coffee was not refilled, no one stopped by to see if we needed anything. Waitstaff seemed indifferent. I am not sure I would go back again as there are many other spots to go for better breakfast and better customer service.
(3)Chris Z.
The atmosphere is great and family oriented. The service is great too. The fish and chips was very good. The portions are huge. This is a great place for dinner.
(5)Jeff H.
Geezus! The portion sizes here are huge. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with scrambled egg dish, with bacon. Six strips of bacon and a wagon wheel size plate of biscuits and gravy later...I'm amazed. The food was pretty good, too! The gravy was tasteful, the bacon was crispy and flavorful, and the eggs were cooked quite well. But I consistently ran out of my drink. I tried several times to make eye contact or gesture to my waitress, but she made a concerted effort to avoid me. ....Sad. I left dying of thirst. I stopped at a local McDonalds to get a coke so that I had something to drink. I was very annoyed. I would have given Jake's four, even five stars because the food was quite good. But without anything to wash it down with, I just couldn't enjoy any bit of my experience.
(3)Nicola S.
Quaint restaurant. Nice people. Excellent food. Great. Might be best breakfast place in Bend.
(5)French C.
OMG! This place is the bomb!! Best breakfast I've had in years. Got the eggs Benedict with a hamburger patty covered in hollandaise sauce plus home fries covered in hollandaise sauce as well. This was fantastic and way beyond my expectations. And the amount?? Enough to feed 3 people. After stuffing my face, I was only able to eat about half, the waitress came out and asked if I didn't like it and was something wrong with it??? Hell no, it was the best breakfast ever! If you ever get a chance to go, I definitely recommend it. Also, the waitress we had was awesome!!! She took our order quick and brought drinks fast, but it was super busy and she got tied up on the patio with orders and whatnot, she apologized profusely and was so kind and generous. I haven't been to a great establishment like this in a long time. I can see why this is such a great place!
(5)Alex C.
Great diner fare with HUGE portions with efficient and friendly service! I come here with my parents and if you're looking for food to fill you up and have you waking out with leftovers, this is your place! Naughty food, but very good!
(4)Kelson S.
I have dined here several times. If you are looking for a HUGE amount of food, this is the place. More than likely you'll take some home. Overall, the taste of the food is good and is what you would expect from this type of establishment. The only downfall to this place is some of the waitresses. They're slow to take your order and refill your drinks at times, and not the friendliest. You can't have everything though.
(3)Michael R.
This place has great food, and you get what you pay for. My wife and I split a meal, just paid for a side of 2 eggs, and it was more than enough to feed us. Whenever we visit Bend, this is the place we go for breakfast every time. Service is good, but can be slow when they're busy (Which is almost always!). 4/5 because it's not the swankiest joint, but I'd eat here for breakfast every day if I could.
(4)Lisa B.
The food here is really good. I sometimes go just for the Monte Cristo sandwich. Something so simple yet I never make it at home. The omelets are huge and you'll have plenty of food to take home. I don't usually order biscuits at restaurant because how can you keep those things soft when you don't know when people will be eating them? However, I have had biscuits and gravy here a few times and they are always soft and yummy. I will say this place is LOUD! It's one cavernous space, except for back meeting rooms and seasonal patio. There are often crying kids and elderly people yelling at each other. Not Wal-Mart yelling. Just yelling to be heard. The wait staff is always pleasant and circling with coffee for refills. You can flag down anyone for help. It doesn't have to be your waitress. They will all help you out. If it wasn't so loud, I could give it 5 stars.
(4)Quality Cars Of Bend _.
Great food and Great customer service as Always. Every meal comes with enormous portions of food, food and FOOD! Enough left overs to have another meal. Great local spot to go to when you think you're hungry. We have been coming to Jake's for over a decade. We've been eating at Jakes since it was the truck stop. The truck stop was awesome growing up; but the current location has been a great place to take my family over the last decade. Lots of Cool hot rod shows. Good people. Good times...

We just went there last night for chicken strips and mashed potatoes. The guys running the place were all in their teens and did not seem to know what they were doing. The mashed potatoes were cold and the gravy was more of a jelly then a liquid. The chicken strips where the type of quality you would find at arco. The only silver lining was the milkshake was good.

This greasy spoon is creative when it comes to their menu. They have all of the normal staples as well as some original and daring entrees. The cordon blue chicken sandwich smothered in hollandaise sauce is simply spectacular.

I lived in Central Oregon for over 3 years and since returning home to Washington I keep thinking how I wish we had a Jakes up here :) I just wanted to say how I always enjoyed the service, the ladies always made me feel like I was family, and the food was always so dang good!! I definitely have to visit soon and come in for my breakfast!

Yes the portions are big, food is poor, at best, and the price is not worth the excess food. Over Hyped and Over Priced. There are a lot of good food in Bend don't waste your time at Jake's.

Big fan of this place for breakfast. Usually come here on the weekend, try to come early to beat the church crowd. On nice summer days it is good to sit outside in the back patio. The fence is high so you don't see any of the parking lot and you tend to forget where you are. The breakfast food is great, also the only food from them I have tried. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good breakfast spot on the weekends.

My family and I decided to try this place based on the overall good reviews on yelp and wanting some good old fashioned diner fare. It was mediocre. Plus we were told to seat ourselves and then sat there for a while confused, until we finally decided to hunt down menus on our own. The staff seemed friendly but as for the food, large portions of under-seasoned food isn't that exciting to me. My advice? Even just a little salt goes a loooong way, but when you don't use it at all? Frowny face :(

Found this place thanks to Yelp and all the good reviews. Good food. Friendly service. Come hungry because they serve huge portions. Might ever consider sharing a plate. A little pricey but worth it. Will be going back.

Jake's is the perfect truck stop-style diner. They have huge portions and are Vet friendly. This place is a good ol' fashion, American pie.

This was my first time here. Jake's is as good as it gets for many reasons, service, wait, seating, decor and food. Simply the best. My California Omelette was great especially with a side of biscuits and gravy. I highly recommend this otherwise hole in the wall old school diner. Ample parking, large portions, nice service, comfortable environment, high quality ingredents.

Jake's has a great atmosphere and great food. I love their chicken fried steak and great wait staff too. I definitely recommend this place to friends from out of town.

Awesome place for American comfort food. This place gets it. Great omelettes, and the best biscuits and gravy I've had in a long time. Hug portions - you've been warned if you insist on cleaning the plate.

This turned out better than I expected. We stopped in for lunch while the local Chevy dealer tried to figure out what was wrong with the van. I ordered the BlAT. It turned out better than I expected. Although the bacon was cooked just a bit more than I would have liked, it was a very good sandwich. I ordered it with coleslaw. It was better than the version I had last Monday. My buddy ordered a Cobb salad. It was too big for my diet, but he enjoyed it. All in all, a good lunch in a classic diner.

Man, this is an old school diner. Nothing wrong with that, even with the good-old-boy clientele. What is wrong is the amount of salt they put in their food. My wife and I visited Jake's for the first time today and we were well prepared for the portion sizes raved about. I ordered the Irish Bene and she, the Huevos Rancheros. My god... Hers was okay but mine was heavily salted, likely due to the corned beef not being rinsed before served, but there was definitely a lot of sodium in the Hollandaise sauce it was slathered in (I got to be honest, looked like it was canned or from a powder). It tasted like a mediocre dish I would have thunk up myself at home... Just too much. I wasn't impressed and hence the 2 star review (Meh, I've experienced better) because truthfully, there are better dishes out there at old school diners... The Breakfast Club for example. The service was great though and I hear they do a lot for homeless vets, so cheers to that!

This place was just the best. Yes, the serving size of my "Small Omelet" could've fed multiple people, but it was delicious. Jake showed me to my seat and I thought that was a nice touch. They let me sit outside even though all the other customers were inside and they'd have to send a waitress out for just me. My waitress was the sweetest lady. She went out of her way to give me advice on what to see and do in the area. I took her recommendation to explore the Cascade Lakes Highway and it was wonderful. Very friendly and my coffee cup never ran dry, which is important in bottomless diner mugs.

We were craving a big breakfast and got what we wanted. I had The Stacker - lots of hash browns tossed in eitn chopped sausagd links, tomato and avocado, with two eggs over easy covered in bernaise sause. Got the idea yet?

COME HUNGRY! You get a LOT of food for a good price. A nice, simple coffee shop set back from the street next to the Subaru dealership. Attentive service. Good baked goods: pie, cinnamon rolls, cookies, etc. Four egg omelets!
