Can't visit Bend without getting a burger!

Straight up greasy drive-in food. Decent enough. Banana milkshakes was decent too. Roller skates are fun. Juggling little tubs of fry sauce, dripping burgers and fries in the front seat of my car . . . never Ever works out. Oh yah. CASH only.

I don't get the hype. Was excited to taste the food and was completely let down. Half my fries were cold in the middle by the time I got to my hotel.... ACROSS THE STREET!! The warm ones were tasty though. The "amazing" fry sauce was mayo with some seasoning or light ketchup but I honestly felt like I was dipping my frys in straight mayo.... yuck! And since I didnt get ketchup I was stuck with dry fries.... double yuck! Now the burger: Grand Daddy(or dandy) with no tomato but added onion. BURGER was too salty for me and with the bacon added was even saltier. Nice size burger though and the thick bacon was tasty. The bun was too flimsy and literally split down the middle of the top bun from the cheese and mayo making it moist. Didnt realize I needed to ask for ketchup or mustard. Most places at least ask if you would like on the side or even packets if they dont offer it on the burger. Guess this place is mayo happy. Wish Hardys would have been open. I gave 2 stars because the bacon was thick and tasty as were the warm fries. And because the roller girl was nice and friendly in the cold weather.

CASH ONLY! ...I seem to always forget this! Great food and service. Cheapest hamburger place in Bend that isnt "fast food"
(4)Haleigh B.
Love dandy's! Convenient drive in and service comes straight to your car door. They have the BEST fry sauce I've ever had! I usually order a corn dog with fries and my boyfriend will get the dandy bacon burger. Always delicious, never had a bad experience. Would definitely recommend!

Always good and hot. Great cheeseburger and shakes! Burger kinda crispy around edges. Never been disappointed. If you want a "sit down" place go to Pilot Butte.
(4)Derrick H.
It is an honestly priced menu All I have to say is: PRICE VALUE PERCEPTION!!!!
(5)Justin C.
Luv this place. They are in the top five of burgers in Bend. Closest joint to the flavor of Five Guys or In/Out. Wish someone had fries like In/Out!
(4)Lei D.
Ate here for the first time today and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great burger, fries and special sauce. Taste was good and prices even better. I'm sure going back next time I'm in town!
(5)Kaelyn C.
Good food and it's super cheap! How often do you see drive ups anymore?! The Dandy's experience is one everyone must have at least once. I always get the Lil Grand which is the smaller version of the Grand Dandy... Super good for a smaller stomach! Don't forget to get fries and a banana milkshake while you're at it! My favorite burger in town. Mmmm.
(4)H I.
The food is cheap and fresh. I can't say they have the best burgers in town but the drive-in experience (there is no option to go inside or seating anywhere) was new for me and I enjoyed watching the ladies skate around like pros. If you like bananas, you MUST get their fresh banana shake. After we tried that, we went back quite a few times just to get the shake because it is that good. Don't forget to bring CASH!

This place is tops for what it is. And what it is, is a drive-in, with really good burgers, fries, and milkshakes. Nothing here is organic, and if it's locally or sustainably sourced, they don't advertise it (but I doubt it, because their prices are pretty low). So, just recognize that you are getting a burger from possibly stockyard meat, and bacon from a penned pig, and fries from GMO potatoes. That being said, this is THE BEST cheap burger in town. It's simple, straightforward, cheese, iceberg lettuce and GMO tomatoes, with their signature burger sauce, and it's delicious. I have dubbed Dandy's the In-And-Out of Bend, Oregon - basically the best fast food burger you can possibly get. The milkshakes are deliciously creamy and they top them with whipped cream and a cherry. They don't advertise the flavors, but they have yet to tell me they don't have what I'm requesting. My friends requested something crazy like a peanut butter-Butterfinger-shake, and they had it, so ask away! Some last thoughts: The prices are impossible to beat; it's pretty cheap. They take cash only. The rollerskating waitresses are impressive and will inspire you to break out your childhood skates.

I've tried most of the burger places in Bend that get good reviews on Yelp but they usually usually fall into one extreme or the other between generic plain burger and over seasoned specialty burger. They mostly taste like chain restaurant burgers. Which is fine, if that's what you are looking for. Dandy's reminds me more of a burger I'd eat at a fair. Just great old school flavor. And the fries are just simple large cut fries. No weird breading or funky seasoning. Just thick fries. Everyone here is very friendly and the roller skates are a nice touch. I'd definitely recommend it.
(4)Joshua W.
Food is good, so is the service. I just don't understand the choice of cash or check only, especially with the advances of technology. I would visit more often if they accepted more forms of payment.

We had been driving for almost 8 hours and were craving a burger, so a quick Google search led us to Dandy's. It is similar to Sonic in that you can drive up, never get out of your car and someone on roller skates comes and takes your order, and brings you your food. The burgers are most excellent, we ordered a large order of tots (large order really honestly only fits one person), and no drinks and it was reasonably priced. I think we ended up paying approximately 13 bucks for our dinner. The burgers come with some sort of sauce on them, not sure what it is, but it was tasty and only added to the flavor of the burger. They only take cash though, no debit or credit, that is the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. As someone who very rarely carries cash it might have stopped me from going there if it wasn't the rare chance I did have cash on me.
(4)Bryce S.
Burgers are great, had the bacon cheeseburger, and the price wasnt bad. The only thing is that it was a complete gut bomb, though I knew this going into it. Also they only accept cash.
(3)James T.
Food = 3 (not that bad... not that good) Price = 3 (8.75 hamburger, corn dog and med drink) Experience = 4 (old styled pull up joint with girls on roller skates) Not the fastest place... but, an interesting wait.
(3)Bradley D.
Get over your Quinoa crap. Roll in here with cash ready and enjoy. Great burger and food plus a fun drive in feel!!
(5)Devon C.
Good food but make sure they write your order down. I got home missing a sandwich and when called back blamed it on me since she read it back from memory.
(1)Jeff B.
This was the best burger and fry spot in Bend. Loved the drive in atmosphere. Shakes were AWESOME!
(5)Mike D.
Burgers are good not great, and extremely salty even by burger standards. Also, they close at 5 on Saturday which is a complete joke.
(2)Bendite A.
This place is ok. Nothing on the great side. Been here about 3 times. French fries are pretty tasteless.
(3)Linda K.
Nice and helpful gals on skates! Yummy cheap old fashioned grill top burgers! Great fry sauce. Just don't forget to bring cash!
(4)Julie P.
I love this place! Probably one of my favorite burgers in Bend, so far. You can't beat the prices, the quality is always great, and the food is freakin' consistent! (A concept a lot of places can't quite get down) We go here at least once a week (not gonna lie....probably more) and it's always "mmmmmm" inducing with every bite! Your waitress on wheels will take care of everything for you. You won't need to leave the comfort of your car. Even when it's pouring snow, these girls just power through on roller skates and still give you service with a smile. I can't say I'd be able to do that! Plus, they're always on point and I've never had an order messed up. The fries are stellar and always fresh. Get the fry sauce. Don't ask what it is, just do it. You're welcome. If you're a bacon lover like I am, the Grand Dandy will hug your soul.....and maybe an artery or two. But I love it and I get it every time I go there. If the burgers weren't so awesome, I'd knock a star for serving Pepsi instead of Coke (But that's Bend for ya) and only accepting cash (no credit cards) But the food is well worth overlooking these issues. If you're visiting the area, definitely check it out. :)
(5)Kris M.
I have been eating these burgers since I was a kid......and I still love this place! Always have to have a dandy burger when home!!! Everything is sooo good! Especially with a coke, onion rings and fries with some dipping sauce...... Mmmmm craving it as I am writing this.
(5)Walerz B.
I like Dandy's! I've been searching for a good greasy burger and Dandy's delivers. But be careful, if you're taking it to go and not eating it immediately, the little silver bags they put your burgers in will steam those bad boys which results in wet buns, and wilted and warm tomatoes and lettuce. Gross. The fries were alright, some were a bit on the well done side and most were soggy because it took ten minutes to get home. Nice service. A cheese burger, a bacon cheese burger, two small fries and two medium drinks for $16. CASH only and they close at 8pm.
(3)Will P.
A local institution. Folks who decry Dandy's as overrated because the first burger they tried there didn't heal the sick or cause them to walk on water miss the point. Dandy's serves a tasty, simple, inexpensive burger with a distinctive flavor that you cannot get anywhere else. And they rollerskate it to your car; what's not awesome about that? I was born in raised in Bend, but I haven't lived there for a long time. Dandy's is on the (very) short list of places I make a point of eating whenever I'm in town because their food tastes like home. There is no substitute for a Dandyburger. I've looked far and wide.

Cheap. Delicious. Fast.

Ok, I know, I know, I don't live in Bend...but we go there every year to visit family. So I have been checking into "good eats" in town, just to know what our options are when we get out there. I found a blog on the internet all about Bend Oregon Restaurants and thank goodness I did!! Dandy's sounded good and was highly rated, so we checked it out. Burger: Very fresh and delicious!!! Onion Rings: some of the best I've ever had, crispy and fresh! Fries: SOOOO crispy, just like I like them. Not one bit soggy. And the sauce they give you only adds to the flavor!! Service was good and the waitress was very sweet. (I always ask them what they think is good there and like to see how honest their answer seems) It had a very "small town" feel to it. Believe me, I am from the San Francisco Bay Area in Cali, and I am used to RUDE service! Only downside is eating in the car, they should have some outside tables. My son is nick-named 'Messy Jones' because it is guaranteed he WILL get somethin' on somethin', you know what I mean?
(5)Danny G.
Excellent food and prices! Only downside is no debit/credit cards, so bring cash or a check (with check guarantee card..lol) My favorite is the Grand Dandy
(5)Keith A.
Dandy's? My kids always used to call this "Skaters". As in, "Can we go to Skater's for dinner tonight? Pleeeeease?" Hmmmmm....not in my top three picks for Best Burgers in Bend, but an institution just the same. We hit up Dandy's about once a year. Someone will come into work with one and pretty soon everyone is in the mood for a Dandy Burger. But once a year is about all I can handle and I'm a burger junkie. I agree with all the reviewers before me. Sometimes it can just fit the bill (5 stars) and other times you think, "OMG....what was I thinking? That was a definite gut bomb!" (1 star) I would certainly recommend everyone TRY Dandy's just for the nostalgia of the skaters....although you can get that at Sonic now too....or the off chance you really do get that delicious burger. Otherwise, if you are truly on the Best Burger in Bend quest, sorry Dandy's....I'll have to recommend reviewers to try elsewhere. Such as Hardys. That's my fav in Bend.
(3)Bob C.
I gave this five stars because if you're in Bend, Oregon, and want the best hamburger available in Bend, Oregon, you go to Dandy's. Not the Pilot Butt Drive Inn, not Sonic, not the Choke and Puke, but Dandy's. Hands down, those in the know in Central Oregon prefer Dandy's burgers by a huge margin. Those not in the know, or those with just plain lousy taste, may choose someplace else. The Grand Dandy, and its little brother, The Lil Dandy, are phenomenal hamburgers. The shakes are fantastic. And for a real treat, go off-menu for the tater tots. Oh, and with the tater tots or just plain fries, be sure to ask for some of their to-die-for fry sauce. Greasy? Not even.
(5)Brandi L.
When I want a great burger in Bend I go to Dandy's. Everything is fresh and delicious, as well as reasonably priced. A tasty burger, order of fries and a drink is only about $5. And if you aren't totally starving the Lil Dandy just might do the trick. I also like that Dandy's offers items other than burgers, such as grilled cheese, corn dogs and grilled ham and cheese. Their onion rings are absolutely perfect and definitely a portion size for 2 people (as is the large fry that's only $1.10). This place gets pretty busy at lunch time--and it can take a while for your food. But that's ok; we're in Bend. Just chill and thank me later. FYI: They don't take debit cards--cash or local check only.
(4)Jessica O.
We like Dandy's! The burgers are greasy, true... but doesn't that make them good?! Love the fry sauce and honestly how can you resist a drive in with girls on rollerskates? Also, if you're in the mood the corndogs are good too! *They don't take debit/credit cards, just cash or check and sometimes that is a bit of a pain, but worth it!*

I don't know what the first reviewer was smoking the day she went here, but this place is awesome! I made a point to eat only at non-chain eateries on this trip back and forth to Spokane. This was the nicest surprise, just slipping in front of Big Jim's Drive In in The Dalles. In a nutshell: Good cheesburger...lots of flavor, good size patty, excellent condiments. Tasty fries...90 cents for a larger than expected small, good texture, available with fry-sauce. Excellent shakes...had a blackberry flavored one, and it even had chunks of real blackberries in it. All this for under $8 and served on rollerskates. Muy bueno!
(5)DX J.
Very good burger priced right. It ain't fast food which is a plus. Good fries. Stopped on a recommendation and was not disappointed at all
(4)Suzanne M.
I don't get how this place is still in business. The food is greasy. Some people like greasy food, I guess...
(3)CJ S.
Best Burgers in Central Oregon. There I said it... sure Pilot Butte is great too... but the juicy tasty goodness of a fresh hot Dandy's burger just cant be beat. Great Fries too... and real Milk Shake with seasonal fresh Strawberries. Pull-in to Dandy's Drive-in, Order a Grand Dandy, and die and go to heaven for a few bites.
(5)Mark K.
Short and sweet. These burgers taste like good old fashioned 50's style burgers. The sides are top drawer too! If you haven't been, go.
(5)Jen F.
The ONE star is for the perky waitress on roller skates. What? I can't give less than one anyways? Nevermind she wasn't THAT perky. If this is "Bend's Best Burger" then I am sorry to admit I live in Bend. Hamburger patty: mushy and flavorless Bun: the only work that came to mind was just, well... yucky Lettuce: a tiny bit of shaved iceberg crap Tomatoes: sad, sad, sad - grainy and flavorless. If that is as good as the tomatoes get in the middle of summer, there is no WAY I will go there in the winter. Bacon: one HALF a strip There are no combinations, either. So if you want fries, rings (which they were out of), or tots and a soda? That'll be $10 per person. For crummy, soggy drive in food for heaven's sakes! I've heard of nostalgia, but this was ridiculous.
(1)Jay O.
I've been here once and got a nice juicy burger and some fries. The burger and fries were good but nothing special. I understand the whole concept of enjoying your food in the car and getting it from a girl on skates, but it should begin and end with the quality of the food. I could spend as much on a burger and fries from deschutes brewery and be way more satisfied.
