We have been hesitating writing this top-quality yelp because we know the locals know it but possibly not all of all visitors! If you like an uncrowded location (usually) with friendly and top-notch waitstaff and wonderful food, why would you not come here? We've had the chef special paprika-rubbed lamb which was amazing, halibut cheeks...amazing, love the fish tacos which remind us of Maui, seared trout is killer, BUT I'm so stuck on the bibb salad with the amazingly juicy rotisserie chicken! Must I tell you about their brussels sprouts? Wow! Their cocktails are excellent and my favorite chardonnay for $6? Where can you get good wine served in a "real" wine glass for that price, instead of one of those cheesy tiny wine glasses? Beer specials too. We enjoy coming here for a relaxing, lovely, local meal served with smiles and style. We're glad you're here in Bend!!

I was expecting more because I heard it was the same owner as Zydeco downtown. I was very disappointed both times. The wait staff was just fine. The trout dip was very soup like, not a very appetizing appetizer. The arugula salad was just fine, nothing special at all and very small. I asked for grilled chicken on top but got what looked and tasted like boiled chicken on top with no seasoning....strange. I do have to say the margarita was excellent! I will not go back a third time for food anyway. Zydeco is so much better! I can't believe they're affiliated!

My husband and I stopped by for an early dinner on Saturday night and ordered the grilled baby artichokes. They were outstanding! The restaurant decor is beautiful and hits the Bend vibe on the mark with a perfect blend of trendy elegance. The chairs were comfy too! The bar looked inviting with plenty of options for seating. I ordered a gluten free pizza. Gluten free pizza crusts are not easy to get right. When they first hit the scene, I was living in Portland and able to order a cracker-like GF crust at a local restaurant, which became our family's favorite type of pizza. Then it seemed everyone switched over to cornmeal crusts, which aren't as good but maybe easier to cook in a pizza oven. I love Zydeco's approach in keeping with the traditional flour-like pizza crust and adding a touch of cornmeal. We ordered the caramelized onion and goat cheese pizza but added some arugula to balance out the flavors. It was delicious, but I think there is some room to improve and expand here. I'd love to see more pizza combinations something like prosciutto and arugula, for example. It would be amazing if we could build a gluten-free pizza at Bistro 28, something like how you can order the flatbread at Zydeco downtown. I wonder if it's possible to do a GF flatbread? The location has plenty of parking and is ideal for anyone coming back from Mount Bachelor or the Cascade Lakes Recreation Area. It's also easy to access by foot or bike from Farewell Bend Park and the Deschutes River Trail.

From the moment I heard that Zydeco had a new sibling, I couldn't wait to try it. I don't mean to be picky with menus, but as a lactose intolerant vegetarian, a place that accommodates that is truly a breath of fresh air. My server knew right away what to suggest, and was happy to do it. I ordered the Hawaiian Fish Tacos, made with blackened tofu and they were delicious- so flavorful and so satisfying. I've already been back a second time. If you like Campari, definitely try the Kentucky Negroni.

We love the Athletic Club and special bonus is being able to have our kids ages 4 and 9 go to the kids club(s) while we dine at what used to be Scanlon's and is now Bistro 28. I'm always bummed when people negatively review a new restaurant while the staff and kitchen get things to click - it's seriously hard work and the first time we went here with friends the service was reasonably attentive and that was 3 weeks after opening - kudos to kitchen on both visits for excellent food but at a higher price point, which is fine...if you deliver on all fronts. Tonight we had family coming in from a 500-mile drive and were excited to tuck their 3 kids away in addition to ours and have some adult time. Daycare arranged from 6:30 to 8 but around 7:45 I finally got up to find server and ask where our food was. Shortly after someone stopped by to say food was being plated which was the professional thing to do if the server is unable or unwilling but the bread was long gone and would have been appreciated to be offered more with the wait. Also, we would have ordered another bottle but server no where to be seen. We were never asked either which would be frustrating to hear if I was a restaurant owner hoping to make a profit. Guess you pour your own wine too - obviously not a big deal but not fine dining service. After getting up to ask about our order would think the server would be on alert to step it up...but I had to get up at almost 8:30 after 2 hours to request our check even tho I told him we were needing to get our kids at the time promised to ACB staff. I was totally embarrassed. LOVE the club staff and thankfully they were able to accommodate when I left restaurant to request extended care at the front desk. Had hoped to blow my guests away and, since they are considering moving to Bend and joining the club as well, really wanted them to be impressed. At least they like the club! They were sheepish to say anything to us but are used to the same prices but WAY better service. Restaurant has been open for long enough that there is no excuse. We missed a "thanks for coming in" or something as we left and walked right in front of entrance staff chatting which is fine - who knows what they were dealing with. I have heard amazing things about Zydeco, the sister restaurant, from every friend that has been there and wish the owners luck. Maybe we had a dud night/server but would take the warm and attentive staff of the old Scanlon's any time over our most recent experience. My wife and I have done mystery dining work in the Bay Area as well as some glowing restaurant reviews for SF Magazine when she worked with them - just saying we hope to be constructive here and hope you have a better experience if you decide to try it.

Great food, great staff and very nice owners. You cain't lose if you stop into Bistro 28 or Zydeco. We have even had them cater some of our business events. Everything is always great and good size servings. If you are visiting Bend, it should be one of your must stop restaurants.

Have eaten here many times. Love the barbecue shrimp, of course! But also partial to the bacon wrapped dates and the filet with compound butter. Frisée salad with poached egg is the best thing ever!!!! The staff is all very family friendly and made my young children feel comfortable. Dulce de Leche sundae is great- wish they still had it at Zydeco! S'mores are a fun treat for the kiddos.

LOVED this restaurant! We shared a 24oz porterhouse steak, with sautéed brussel sprouts. Oh man it was good. Service was excellent. Not so big, so Chef Stephen delivered our order.
