Stopped by for breakfast. Atmosphere is very nice and the staff was friendly. They have wifi too which is nice. Interesting menu with a southern flair. Fried chicken thrown in on breakfasts along with the option of rice and beans in place of potatoes. We each ordered a Benedict. My wife got the basic and I got the New Mexico which was prepared on herbed pancakes instead of English muffins and had Hatch chiles and a hunk of fried chicken sitting on top. Everything was well prepared. But the flavor a were a little bland. I had to liberally salt and pepper everything which I don't think you should have to do when it's all smothered in hollandaise. The sauce could use a more flavor. The portions were on the small side for American standards. Which I think is a plus. But if you're looking for a huge breakfast this isn't the place. The coffee was good and the service was decent. But nothing here wowed me. We may return to try some of their other unique dishes but so far this isn't replacing any of our go to breakfast places of which Bend has some great ones.

We had breakfast here and everything was great, good flavor , and great coffee too. The staff was all friendly and attended to all our needs, we have a new favorite breakfast place now we will have to come back for lunch.
(5)Jay J.
Third time trying it and still not impressed. Just average as for flavor goes. Better places in town by far. The crispy fried chicken was not crispy at all.The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it has decent prices. Feels like cafeteria food.
(2)Loren R.
What a find! Great, unique food and the service was fabulous. Wonderful to find a restaurant that serves delicious food at reasonable prices! !
(5)Robert C.
Food good. Ambience very simple. Good local spot for breakfast without any pretense. Lots of good breakfast places in bend. This feels like a place for 'locals'
(4)Jason Y.
Portion size is perfect. Price pt is spot on. Service was ok. Food quality was great. Belgium waffle was not a Belgium waffle style but tasted great. They should rename it. I can see some people getting upset about that. Fried chicken biscuit sandwich and I added a over medium egg on top was yum.
(4)Kayak Q.
Returned for more pancakes and was terribly disappointed. The flavor balance was off; they were barely edible due to saltiness. When this was mentioned to the waitress, she said this had been an ongoing issue. I got comped for my meal, but won't be rushing back there again. Consistency is key to a great restaurant.

Outstanding. One of the best breakfast I've ever had. Northwest salmon Eggs Benedict with smoke salmon and it was so yummy. Friendly staff good coffee reasonably priced. I can't wait to come back.

Four of us ate there on a Sunday afternoon. There were tables available but it took what seemed like few minutes for someone to acknowledge us. Staff was very friendly when they did attend to us. Our waiter was inexperienced but apologetic (forgotten soup). He also brought a different soup than what we were told. I guess they had run out of the soup of the day. My husband enjoyed it anyway. I had read reviews and several raved about the Hollandaise sauce. Two of us ordered Eggs Benny. We both agreed it was good but no way was it the best we'd had. My husband had the chicken and waffles and loved it. We were just enjoying friends and visiting but we were kindly asked to leave before their normal closing time. The landlord was redoing their parking lot. This was certainly no fault of the restaurant. This restaurant is definitely worth going to. I would have given it four stars but there were too many negatives on this particular visit.
(3)Greg S.
Awesome creative food. Like the ambition of the carrot cake pancakes. The Spanish potatoes were excellent also!
(5)Michele R.
Tis bad form to lick the hollandaise sauce off the plate after devouring Eggs Benedict at Birdie's. But I was sure tempted to do that at breakfast here yesterday. The hollandaise is luscious with lovely zing of lemon. I've given up on hollandaise at breakfast places in my neck of the woods for lack of that acid to balance out the fat from egg yolk and butter. Splendid here. If I still lived in this neck of the woods Birdie's would be on regular rotation for hollandaise for sure. My husband said his Johnny Cakes were delicious. The guy across from us said Chef Chris Tates' hash browns are the best. The waiter said he likes the hollandaise with nearly everything. Including the potatoes. I see hash browns and a side of hollandaise in my future on a visit to Bend. Good food, friendly people, fair prices and our ample sized coffee mugs were kept continually filled with robust, hot brew. They do brisk business on a weekend at breakfast. If you're in a hurry keep in mind this may not be the best fit. THIS N THAT: WINE DINNERS here are now a regular "first Monday of every month" event. Chef Tate pairs food with wine paired by Bend Wine Cellar, Birdie's downstairs neighbor. Check with Dennis or Diane Sienko, owners of Bend Wine Cellar, or Denise Tate at Birdie's for details. FYI, tickets each month seem to sell out in a flash.

My girlfriend and I were just passing through Bend on a road trip and after a night of camping, we were craving a hearty breakfast and Birdies Cafe definitely satisfied our need. We had their breakfast and the portion sizes were perfect along with the quality and taste. The staff were very accommodating and if we ever to visit Bend again, we will definitely be making another trip to Birdies

Cute, fresh little place. Nicely decorated with a tribute wall to pugs. I had the chicken fried chicken, my co-hort the New Mexico Benny. Food came out quickly and was piping hot. My chicken was tasty, nicely seasoned. Biscuits had a crispy outer layer and really good sausage gravy. New Mexico Benny got raves from across the table. The spicy jalapeño & spinach pancake was a great combination with the tartness of the hollindaise sauce. I wasn't thrilled with the portions, I would have like another chicken medallion and less potatoes. Breakfast was served on lunch plate size dishes. My breakfast could of handled a dinner plate which would have made negotiating around the plate easier. Owner was heading out the door with fresh baked goods for the neighboring coffee shop. Asked us if we got enough to eat. Very nice.

I was fortunate to discover Birdies on opening day. I was going up to Bachelor for my first time attempt at the Mt Bike downhill terrification thing. I needed some serious fuel. Chris and Denise are the NICEST PEOPLE. Im a recent vegan convert and Chef Chris made me an awesome veggie scramble, it had so many veggies, fresh, delicious and I was full till dinner. This is a small brunch cafe, warm, welcoming, pictures of Pugs on the wall. Super friendly service and fresh delicious food. If you don't like this place, I'd be shocked.
(5)Vanessa R.
I was impressed. There is a lot of variety without the menu being overwhelming. Delicious well prepared food!
(4)Sandra L.
We dropped in this restaurant for lunch, after picking up some wine at the Bend Wine Cellar (also wonderful) and were delighted at the great food and fun atmosphere. Service was pretty fast and very friendly. The food was divine. We'll definitely be back. Love the Pugs Rule wall.
(4)Jo G.
Homemade granola was perfect. My toddler devoured his Belgian waffle. Service was great. Will come back again!
(4)Kimberly T.
What a pleasant surprise. Enjoyed a great breakfast here recently. We loved their bacon and crispy hash-browns. Friendly staff, good service. Great prices for breakfasts $8-11. No wait, we were seated immediately. The cafe has a fair amount of seating. Decent paring. It was busy but not crowded. Thanks for serving some traditional breakfasts - it gave my less adventurous husband several options to choose from. Both the Birdie's original and the eggs Benedict were very good. The coffee was ok. We strongly recommend this cafe. We left full and happy. Located on corner of Newport Ave and College way.
(5)Susan G.
Quite a variety offered in their menu, not traditional fares, although I ordered bacon and eggs. Hash browns were nice and crispy, over easy eggs were perfect. Bacon deliciously crisp. Coffee okay. Friendly service and reasonably-priced.

This place is still new so it has a lot of growing to do. My husband and I were pretty excited to try this place out and being business owners and consultants ourselves, we were unfortunately overall disappointed. We were not greeted upon entry and it took about 10 minutes for the hostess/busser/cashier/owner to approach us and take our names down. There were about 5 other parties waiting. Unfortunately she didn't even greet us, just took our names and carried on with her busy tasks. She seemed very stressed, understandable for all of the tasks she was doing but made her customers feel like we were annoying her. There were about 5 other parties waiting with us and 3 of them walked out. I'm hoping they hire a hostess soon because they are rapidly losing business at such an early start in the game. Our server, the other owner, took about 15 minutes to acknowledge us once we were seated. We ordered a waffle and the Johnny cakes, items that usually come out quick due to the rapid cook time, but they took about 25 minutes. Unfortunately those were not very tasty either. The Johnny cakes were undercooked so I took a big bite of pancake batter, which was also salty, and my husbands waffle was over cooked. Hopefully they can get through these growing pains and take their reviews as a way to better themselves.

I gave this 4 stars because I think it's better than our experience. Sunday morning and busy so service was real slow. The French toast was a little dry and chewy but tasted good. It was the cinnamon roll thing. We shared our thoughts and they were well received. The eggs Benedict thing was good. Eggs cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend this place.
(4)Dale P.
This place is new so it's still very amateur. Decor is a bit inconsistent and they don't even have a hostess yet. We waited for almost 10 min to just put our name in. I literally counted 3 people walk out. The food was okay and I'm sure they will get better in the future. But it's a reminder that good food is only half of the equation. Customer service is just as key. And an owner who is running around bussing tables, serving, hosting and cashing people out may seem honorable, but in my opinion it's a recipe for bad yelp reviews. My advice: hire a hostess, one more server, and one more kitchen hand. Make sure people get greeted immediately so they don't have to guess what's happening. Cut wait time in half. However, I will come back in a few weeks to see if they improved.
(3)Evan M.
This place is a must. There are some really good breakfast spots in Bend, and this is definitely one of them. Except now you won't have to wait an hour or go broke in the process. The staff is great, and the owners are on site. The service is timely, and the food is exquisite. If you like salmon you have to try the Northwest Benedict. It's amazing.
(5)Chelsea L.
This place was really good :) my boyfriend and I both got the wild salmon benedict. It was delicious! It was not your basic breakfast. The dish was very inventive and with fabulous flavor! Lots of spices but in a thoughtful and delicious way. Prices were affordable and portions were perfect. My hungry man also got a burger togo and absolutely LOVED it. Our server was super friendly and attentive. So happy to have a yummy brunch place so close to home. It seems like they make a lot of things in house and use lots of local ingredients which is great. I also loved that they serve coffee in LARGE mugs and also have raw stevia as an alternative to sugar. We will definitely be back! Check this place out, Bend! You won't be disappointed!
(5)Shannon K.
This cafe is so cute! I was immediately taken by the quaintness and uniqueness of the decor. Another strong point of this restaurant was our server. She was attentive and amazing! All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts as the server kept our coffee cups filled. We loved the unique offerings on the menu. I will definitely return! Next time I might eat on the deck.
(5)Silvia K.
Went there for lunch for the first time yesterday. Quinoa salad was excellent. Friends salmon was cooked to perfection. Great place to stop for lunch!
(5)Gail L.
Being from the south, it's hard to find good southern food in Bend, Or. I was delighted when we had breakfast here today to have apple butter on the table, braised greens on the menu as well as fried chicken and biscuits! Also, all of the prices were $10 and under. Breakfast for 2 today cost $16 and it was the perfect amount of food. I highly recommend their hash browns as well. Seriously though, don't forget the apple butter on the table, that was my favorite part!
(5)Sarah J.
I have been there twice in the last week. Each time I ordered the same dish and was not disappointed. My husband got different things each time and enjoyed them. This is a cute new restaurant walking distance from out house! Woot!
(4)Randy B.
FINALLY! The breakfast joint that Bend has been missing. First off, they actually make real has browns which is nearly impossible to find in Bend except at a few spots. Secondly their menu has great variety including some fried chicken options for breakfast like a good southern restaurant would have. The atmosphere is comfy, the staff is friendly, and the service is great. Excited to go back and try lunch and a few more breakfast items.
(4)Drake B.
This restaraunt is AWESOME! They have the option of rice and beans instead of just potatoes! The food is great, the people are nice and super welcoming, there's no reason to not love this place!
(5)Joshua R.
Solid delicious breakfast. Spinach pancake, hollandaise sauce was above and beyond. Don't be fooled by diner-ish decor, food is fresh, hot, yummy. Rice n beans way better than potatoes.
(4)Richard G.
Good lunch at Birdies Cafe today. The cheeseburger and fries were very tasty. My wife had the chicken sandwich and a cup of the cream of broccoli soup, which she also said was very good. Sierra, our server, was very friendly and accommodating. Looking forward to hitting Birdies for breakfast one of these days.
(4)G R.
Nice find on their opening day! I love a good bagel, crunchy (but not too hard) crust and tender on the inside. This was wonderful! Made onsite, no less. I did have a hard time resisting their muffins but another day I will snag one of those. Came back for lunch and it was another win. Juicy salmon sandwiches on a foccacia roll (which they made in-house) with delicious garlic spread. Had it with a cup of roasted veggie quinoa soup... Yum! My dad had a crispy fried chicken sandwich which he thought was very tasty. I appreciated that the food portion were the right size... NOT monster size. Oh, I will definitely be back
(4)Penelope C.
Great for breakfast or lunch. Good, healthful, delicious food. Wait staff is prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. One of my favorits.
(5)Robert D.
So many choices for breakfast! Spinach and onion-herb eggs benedict - scrumptious! Not crowded, great service. If you can't get into the Victoria, this is 3 mins away.
(5)Marisa G.
We had great service and pretty good food but I really wish they would start serving farm fresh (local free range organic) eggs. We actually left after finding out they didn't have them as an option on our first visit. We went back because there are some vegan options, but really only like one at breakfast and one at lunch. The breakfast one is a strange tofu scramble that tasted like tomato paste was the seasoning. Not very good. Our fish sandwiches however were DELICIOUS. I would go back for another of those but not for any breakfast item. Every dish has eggs (even the pancakes) and we don't eat conventional eggs from chickens living miserable lives in tiny cages in their own filth. It doesn't take any thing but common sense to know how horrible that is for you and you shouldn't support factory farms by ordering purchasing or consuming them. Some places have good eggs for an additional fee and that is what I would suggest they do if not switch completely. People are caring more and more about the quality of the food they are consuming and where it came from. CHOW and TEN BELOW are two excellent restaurants in Bend that offer almost exclusively local organic produce, eggs, dairy, meat, and even spirits. I would recommend going to either of those for breakfast instead. For a more casual breakfast ROCKIN DAVES also uses locally grown produce, spirits, and a farm fresh egg option that you do have to request and pay a bit additional for.
(2)George M.
The food is wonderful and the staff really knows what they're doing. We keep going back and are never disappointed. The Route 66 breakfast sandwich is amazing and the California BLT is a definite crowd pleaser. Chef Chris never skimps on the bacon! We had the house made sausage patties last week - wow! And yum!!

Organized a lunch for 6 ladies 2 weeks ago and called to ask about reservations at Birdies. Was told they don't reserve but if I call the morning of the lunch that they would set a table to accommodate us. So called this am and was told very rudely that they don't take reservations and seating is first come first served. I tried to explain what I'd been told and the woman refuted it and was so rude I won't ever go there. Too many great places in Bend to lunch. They need to get their act together.
(1)Bob P.
The food is good, nice atmosphere and solid value. Four stars for excessive bird puns. Server was new, but polite. Men's room has the tall urinals that make you feel like you're peeing on the floor. Really great. Had salmon sandwich for lunch and would do it again. Go before everyone finds out about the place.
(4)Don H.
We went to Birdies for breakfast, and while I write reviews from the vegan perspective, this place will delight anyone. Very nice people, great service from the moment you walk in.....not so common anymore. The atmosphere is friendly, homey like, generally comfortable all around. The food (tofu hash plate) was delicious, nice presentation and if you've read any of my other reviews you know size matters to me. I take a pretty good portion to satisfy my need; Birdies was spot on. The whole place was exceptionally clean, and judging by the overall quality I would recommend this to anyone vegan or non-began.
(5)Olive S.
Great breakfast spot with very reasonable prices and vegetarian options! Though, I would not recommended stopping here if you were in a hurry OR very very hungry. The three times I've been to Birdies it has taken close to an hour for the food to come out (with a party of 2). I thought maybe I caught them on a day when they were short handed the first time, but it was just the same wait the other two times. No complaints once the food finally gets to the table. Everyone seems to be working hard and everyone is friendly, but it would seem they need more help in the kitchen? A great spot nonetheless

Went there for lunch for the first time yesterday. Quinoa salad was excellent. Friends salmon was cooked to perfection. Great place to stop for lunch!

I have been there twice in the last week. Each time I ordered the same dish and was not disappointed. My husband got different things each time and enjoyed them. This is a cute new restaurant walking distance from out house! Woot!

This restaraunt is AWESOME! They have the option of rice and beans instead of just potatoes! The food is great, the people are nice and super welcoming, there's no reason to not love this place!

Solid delicious breakfast. Spinach pancake, hollandaise sauce was above and beyond. Don't be fooled by diner-ish decor, food is fresh, hot, yummy. Rice n beans way better than potatoes.
