New restaurant in town. They have rolled right into this location with having to do little to no changes to the decor. Too bad because there is potential with a logo as cute as theirs. Chicken fried steak for me, eggs benedict for my partner. Both had great flavor. The potatoes are nice and crispy, LOVE nice and crispy. And potatoes are served with some sort of caramelized onions that were pretty tasty. Salt and pepper is self-serve which is a nice way to do it. Great looking selection of baked goods. I tried the lavender shortbread cookie and it was so-so, not very "shortbready", more of a sugar cookie. But there was a lot more to choose from and it all looked good. Seat yourself, order at the counter and bus your table after. The process is not totally intuitive, but staff helps along the way. There are some logistical issues to work out. For example: 1. the specials are delivered by the owner. Table next to us got to hear the specials, we didn't. and 2. there is a bar, I'm game for a bloody mary, no menu. There's a sign that I saw when I was bussing my table that featured bloody mary's. Not visible from the counter, or where I was sitting. Bar sales are high margin and they are only open until 4pm. Carpe diem.

Hubby enjoyed the Rustic Benedict with the homemade herb biscuit. I enjoyed the baked oatmeal with grapes and divine vanilla yogurt. Good drip coffee and fresh squeezed OJ.
Bad Wolf is not good. I'm almost in disbelief at how bad the service was. The woman at the counter is baffling. She charged $5 for what was clearly listed as a $3 juice, and then referred me to a handwritten sign that didn't have a price when I pointed out the mistake, which she did not offer to correct. My $5 juice was tiny and brought to me much much later by another woman. In addition to the juice, we ordered a scone, a latte, a cold brew, and one breakfast sandwich (right around $30 total). She handed us a number and we sat down. We then watched her sell and give away 2 of the 3 existing scones. When the other woman brought the latte, we reminded her about the cold brew (which requires nothing more than pouring) and the scone. It's strange to watch the thing you paid for being given away. We watched her touch people's food immediately after touching money, and she later tried to give us someone else's food in spite of the number system and the empty dishes on our table. The decor leaves a lot to the imagination and it smells odd in there. The one saving grace of this place is that the food was alright and the coffee was good.

We pulled into bend for a girls weekend and looked up best bloody on yelp, this place came up and although it was hard to find with stupid Siri leading the way once we did it was obvious, it faces Newport Ave. But back to the bloody Mary's...these take time to make when they are this excellent, so don't be in a hurry, grab a chair bring some friends and enjoy the atmosphere, the art, and the excellent service. Who doesn't love a bloody that comes with a salad..celery,pickled carrots, asparagus, green bean and BACON!! We are on out way back to Ashland and had to hit this place up one more time, we will be back!

We tried a few of the over crowded spots, but it would have been 45 minutes to sit down. We yelped and found Bad Wolf. What a lucky find!! We ordered the delishie Baked Oatmeal that came with the best vanilla bean yogurt ever (i had never had it this way and loved it). The chef recommended mixing it all together giving it a wonderful creamy light texture. We added some strawberries as well. We also ordered the Rustic Benedict and it was so great! They serve it on a fresh scone with avocado and thick cowboy bacon with a really tasty hollandaise. I would order this again :) i can't wait to go back and try more!

As a vegetarian, I had a very hard time finding something to eat on their poorly laid out menu with hard to read font. Mushroom gravy and biscuits for $9? Too expensive kale salad with garlic dressing? They really like using trendy kale and caramelized onions in their over priced dishes. I settled on the old standby that restaurants assume vegetarians want...portobello mushroom sandwich. Hubby got turkey sandwich. Neither are good values at $11 (comes with chips). Hubby said of his 2 slices of turkey sandwich & chips: this is a $6 meal, certainly NOT $11. I'm NOT a fatty, but left still feeling hungry and ate something when I got home. I suggest to the owners to buy their bread someplace else...the crust was incredibly hard. I was afraid I'd break a tooth (seriously). Hubby had maple bacon scone and said it was very tasty. Will NOT go back.

We found the best Bloody Mary in Bend...oh yeah, the food and service was great too!!
My experience at Bad Wolf has consistently been excellent. The ambiance is comfortable and it always smells so good when you walk in. Their chai latte is my favorite. We've ordered several items and I highly recommend: the biscuit sandwich, the chicken fried steak, the ham and apple grilled cheese, the pear gorgonzola salad and several of their pastry items...which must come right out of the oven when we arrive because they're always fresh and delicious. I've had both brunch and lunch food items as well as several of their cocktails. I must say, their Bloody Mary is out of this world!! In all honestly it's the best Bloody Mary in Bend, hands down. My wife has had a few coffee cocktails that I also tasted and they were so well balanced and creative, I've never had anything like them. They also had a beer cocktail on the menu?? So rad!! Perfect for Bend. The service here is simply wonderful. Smiling faces and the barista is so informative and kind. I think her name was Bri? You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. They have a station where you drop off your used dishes, which is actually an old desk. I think that's a really cool concept. Parking is right out front. I don't know if they do this all the time but we went on a Saturday afternoon and they had live music on the patio outside. It was such a nice touch. I really want to try their dinner menu when they're open for dinner in the summer. This place really stands out to me, especially since there are so many coffee options in town. My wife and I consistently have been coming here for quite some time now and their product just keeps getting better and better. A MUST TRY if you're looking for a delightful atmosphere, great service and a small business that produces fresh, tasty options while incorporating locally sourced products. Highly recommended.

The owner was super nice and the food was good. I had the Benedict and the wife had bananas foster french toast. The sauce on the potatoes was good the first few bites, but I would've preferred crispy potatoes. All in all, a very fine meal. I noticed a gal milling about that kept molesting the scones with her bare hands between eating and other tasks. I'd give another star if she'd used tongs or washed her hands before rearranging them several times.

Best breakfast and bloody mary's! I'm breakfast person and I've been to every breakfast place in town amd hands down to bad wolfe cafe for great decorated food and ive been here 3x and food is always great and better than the anyone else in town. I found my spot where there is great service and quality food and the price is great! :)

DELICIOUS! This was the best eggs benedict I have ever had! The French toast was amazing and the grilled cheese was absolutely phenomenal!!! Bad Wolf Bakery and Bistro is by far my new favorite eating establishment!

The staff is friendly and the restaurant theme is fantastic. The coffee was great, but the food was only fair. The Eggs Benedict was ok. The ham splices were wonderful, but the Hollandaise sauce was quite thin. The waffles were a generous portion, but had black chunks through them. It was explained to me that this was residue from the waffle iron and it was left at that. I hope the restaurant improves as they have a lot of potential with the cool theme.

Surprisingly good. I expected another mediocre restaurant like Aspenglow, but Bad Wolf was a delicious surprise. Their happy hour until 9pm was great. The jalapeño Mac and cheese fritters were great, the (beef) burger was solid, and the vegan soup was amazing. Friendly and responsive (but slow at times) service made for an excellent dinner. I can't wait to try breakfast! Very friendly with my 5 year old too.

We wandered into Bad Wolf expecting Alpenglow and thought, "Hey, they remodeled." But a few moments later, we realized This was no longer Alpenglow. I have to admit that at first I was bothered that Alpenglow was gone but my discontent disappeared after my first sip of their excellent coffee. My brother and I just stared at each other nodding our heads in agreement. Their service was friendly and prompt even though it was only their 2nd day open. Well done!! Their baked goods are also outstanding. Next time I will order breakfast because if it's anything near what I expect it will be, it's going to be excellent. I usually expect to pay a premium for treats this good but I was very surprised at how inexpensive our tab was. I will be back.

Stopped in for breakfast with the family on Sunday around noon. Food was good, although as other reviewers mentioned they could be a little more generous with the hollandaise on the eggs benedict. Hubby had a Bloody Mary which he said was excellent. Prices were very fair. There are a few downsides here. The biggest is that their order at the counter, bus your own table model make it really tough with two small kids. Would have much preferred table service. Second, the interior of the restaurant needs some TLC. I was surprised to see several large holes in the wall near their ice maker that were begging to be patched. We'll save this for a breakfast date spot when we can leave the kids home.

I've lived in Bend twenty years and seen a lot of restaurants come and go (this one used to be Alpenglow) and Bad Wolfe is my new favorite. Great coffee, friendly service, beautifully remodeled interior that feels urban, but warm. The eggs benedict was even better than my former favorite (McKay Cottage) and the baked goods are inspired. I haven't tried it for happy hour yet, but it's on my list!

Excited about this new restaurant. I had the ham and apple chutney grilled cheese on gluten free bread. It was amazing. The tangy flavor of the chutney paired nicely with the ham and cheese. The bread was from a local bakery and was fantastic....which is not something you can always say about gluten free bread. My husband had the artichoke dip. It was wonderful too with the perfect amount of garlic and parmesan cheese. Loved this place. It is definitely a place we will frequent.

So flavorful, such good service! Even the little things, since made on site, like country potatoes and French fries were obviously made with care and wound up so tasty! Be sure to try dessert - especially the pecan crust chocolate tart!

Highly, highly recommend this fantastic place! - Chic, modern, yet cozy and adorable ambience -- how did they achieve this?? The little touches are so charming here without being kitschy (the plants, the animal-shaped condiment dispensers, the paintings) - Great variety of seating options (high top chairs, outside porch seating) - Incredible coffee (macchiato had perfectly velvety microfoam, flavorful Verve Sermon!) - Everyone who works here was so cheerful! - Delectable homefries (crispy yet soft) - Several gluten-free options -- the locally made bread for the Rustic Benedict was divine; I wouldn't have noticed it was GF if I didn't know better!

Best Bloody Mary I've had in town! Service was friendly and genuine, and the patio had plenty of sunshine. Oh yeah the sandwich and fries rocked too. I didn't have an opportunity to indulge in the other baked goods, but they looked amazing, so it's an excuse to return, even though the bloody is reason enough!! Thanks for the great experience!

Had the Eggs Benedict . The hollandaise sauce was watery with no flavor. The potatoes that came with the Benedict were over cooked and old. The Bloody Mary looks attractive, but flavor was too sour for me, along with no depth. The atmosphere was warm and very inviting.

I assumed this bakery would have a bakery case, but it was only a cafe. This was so disappointing and misleading. There was no baked good on display, the reason we stopped by was not for a meal but a quick treat to pick up.

In the running for the best caramel macchiato in town. Great place if your looking for a little bite. The owners are all family- and it shows in the love that they show to each other and their customers. Oh, did I mention this a Dr. Who - themed restaurant? Yeah. Check it out.

My boyfriend and I often pick wine bottles by the artwork, and brunch places whenever they have "wolf" in the name, because we collect tiny fake wolves (see profile pic). So that's how we ended up here a few weekends ago. It's not a bad wolf, but it's not the very best wolf either. The exterior of this place is sort of off-putting, as if you're trying to have a relaxing brunch experience on the front steps of a large bank building. The tables are scattered around, and overall the patio could use some cohesiveness. The counter staff were lovely, friendly and cheerful. This is one of those places where your order at the counter, then have food brought to your table, then clear your table yourself. Food was pretty good, and portion sizes were generous. We ran into some old friends and all had brunch together, so I got to see a few different dishes. The steak and eggs were a big hit with several people, my boyfriend enjoyed his French toast, and a stack of pancakes across the table didn't last long. My vegetarian biscuits and gravy was just okay. The biscuits were kind of soggy, and the gravy was pretty bland. I ate a good bit of it just because I was really hungry after chasing my tiny mutant wolf around Smith Rock. It seems like Bend doesn't have a whole ton of brunch options. This is a solid one, but does lack in the categories of non-meat options and ambiance.

What a sweet spot for breakfast on their sunny patio. I enjoyed the Bananas Foster French Toast and a soy vanilla latte. Both were delicious. I recommend you share the French toast with a partner as it was a generous portion. I also tasted the Crash Potatoes and the Eggs Benedict. The Benedict sauce was a little thin but overall, very good. The crash potatoes were seasoned perfectly.

The name comes not from the "Big" of fairy tale fame as you might imagine, but from a British TV show, Dr. Who, where Bad Wolf was a meme used in the very complicated sci-fi plot. Or so staff there shared when I asked. This name association is one of several things that are not as one might expect they will be walking in. But it is also one of the oddly intriguing things that will make one think going back to try again is a good idea. We're eager to do that on our next visit to Bend, this time for eat in and not just take out. VIBE Located in the spot last held by Alpenglow Cafe, the interior is laid out much the same now as then with kitchen straight ahead and seating at tables laid out in the main room. (Mostly standard height chairs - yahoo for that). There is more seating on the walkway outside when weather permits. The stainless tables and black chairs are spartan in design and unusual paint surrounds the room. This more fits the "Dr Who" origination of Bad Wolf name than the "Big" of fairy tale. (Although interestingly, some of the menu names do reach back to the Fairy Tale for titles.) I liked it. The aroma was enticing as we walked in. It suggested grilled cheese. The young woman behind the counter was very friendly. I don't know if there is table service or not as we took our selections to go. EATS and LIBATIONS Although this is billed as a Bakery and Bistro, and we went in looking specifically for the bakery piece, it is more Bistro and Bar. Or that was our take since at around noon on a Saturday the place was nearly empty at the tables and the only items in the bakery case right in front were bread pudding, one cookie and some savory scones. Since this is a breakfast and lunch only place (it closes at 4:30 I think) and others of the same genre were jumping at that time of day, we expected the same here. To find it nearly empty was a surprise. To find so few bakery items in a very small display case at a place with Bakery in name was also surprising. Bend is burgeoning with bakeries these days, from Village Baker and associated East Village (both of them my favs), to Sparrow the original and Sparrow in NW Crossing, the delightful Fearless Baking to patisserie Foxtail to La Magie to... (It is hard to fathom how a little town of 80,000 residents can keep all those bakeries afloat. The 2.5 Million visitors a year help I'd guess.) This is an interesting addition to the bakery field, but if you go expecting a full blown bakery like any of the others mentioned, you'll likely be surprised - and maybe disappointed - by what you find. Also a surprise, given the operating hours for such a little eatery, to see a full bar set up against one wall. Although we shouldn't have been surprised, I guess, as these days Bend is awash in alcohol, besotted with booze so it is even at breakfast and lunch places like this and every community function there seems this expectation of adult libations in the mix. (Bend media reports the community is struggling with higher than average numbers of minors consuming alcohol. Gee. I wonder where they'd get the idea.) We rescued the cookie from its' solitude and bought a couple of sun dried tomatoes and cheese savory scones to go with dinner at home. All were good but the savory scones were just a tad sweet, another unexpected twist. The menu was a short one but offered an interesting array of multiple items that sounded intriguing to us. Like salads including sweet potatoes and sandwiches that included chutney. Breakfast and lunch items were both listed and prices seemed reasonable for Bend, ranging from as little as under five bucks for soup to maybe $12 for certain breakfast entrees and lunch items. Options listed that should be good ones for everyone, from vegans to vegetarians to omnivores. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: Can sometimes be easier here than other parts of downtown Bend. There is parking down below the restaurant, hike up the stairs, and more parking in the bank lot around the corner. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: If you're looking for accessible parking, it is in that bank lot and the walkway connects to the restaurant entry. Level in and throughout. Mostly standard height seating. As long as tables and chairs don't get packed too tightly together, this should be good to go for access for all people. 3) HERE'S A QUESTION: I used the ladies' and there was a most unusual female figure painted on the inside of the door. Having been a frequent visitor to Alpenglow in its' day at this location, I don't remember that painting in the loo. If anyone knows what it is, I'd love to know too.

Fresh ingredients, friendly staff, great environment and the food was spot on! I love their menu option of breakfast or lunch all day. I had an wonderful Beet Salad that had a nice twist from most places. It includes diced cucumber for extra crunch and the whole salad was served over a little creme fresh. Excellent! My partner had Chicken fried Steak with home fries, gravy and an fried egg sitting on top. He stated that it was very good as well and completely finished the massive plate! Can't wait to go back.

We stopped in for an afternoon coffee break and were impressed by our drinks, pastries, and the ambience. The proprietors were engaging and helpful, bringing everything we ordered to our table for us. They were happy to have us sit and read as we enjoyed the cappuccino, house-made eggnog, tasty gluten-free quinoa bar, and apple galette. We definitely would return on our next visit to Bend and encourage anyone in the area to stop by. The cafe also serves full meals that we'd like to try on another occasion.

Sigh. I really was pulling for this spot to be great; turns out even GOOD was too much to ask. The folks running the cafe are quite nice, no doubt, but seem overwhelmed at every step of the way. The counter person (owner??) seemed distracted and the barista seemed to do no better. We ordered an almond milk latte and an espresso. We got a regular milk latte and the espresso never came. Wow. I noticed that the fellows next to me received one of their two breakfast orders and had to ask an employee to check on the second, which was greatly delayed. The scones were very good, I must say. This is the only reason I didn't rank them as a one-star establishment. The coffee was poor. Why do they source their espresso beans from CA when they are just as bad as the beans found locally? I truly am not a fan of the popular OR roasters and held out hope that the Santa Cruz beans they served here would be better,,,no dice. Bitter, weak and unpalatable is how I would describe the taste. needless to say, I won't be going back. I wish them well, as I do all local businesses, but no reason for me to go back.

We had seen this restaurant a few times when driving around downtown Bend and on a beautiful day decided to try it out for breakfast. Before walking in we were looking at the other patrons food on their table to see if it looked good. We went up to the counter and looked at the menus and ended up meeting one of the owners, Breezy who was so nice. She suggested a few items for me off of the menu because I did not want to eat meat or eggs. In the end I decided to go with a Vegetarian Burrito that they made up for me. Oh my goodness it was absolutely delicious I could not get enough of it. Everything was freshly made and they decided to put potatoes, sautéed onions, red peppers, kale and many other great vegetables in it. On the side was homemade salsa. We even ended up trying the scone that was made in house but I was not a big fan of it. My friend ordered the Ginger beer and eggs Benedict and he could not stop raving about how delicious it was. We let Breezy know that we will definitely be back and we will be bringing all of our friends with us and she was so happy to hear that.

Just tried out bad wolf bakery and bistro for the first time. The service was very friendly and as soon as we walked in we were greeted and the menu was explained. We ordered our food and sat on the nice deck they have outside. I had ordered the pork breakfast burrito. There wasn't much pork sausage at all and what was in there was very dry, crumbly, and over cooked. The potatoes that came in the burrito were underdone and a bit hard to eat but overall it was a decent burrito. My fiancé got the Benedict and he said it was good, he just also didn't like he potatoes. I did notice a few other plates that looked rather good so next time I'll definitely try a sandwich or one of their pastries. If your looking for a basic food place without a long wait then I'd recommend this one.

Bad wolf was a bad choice! Sadly disappointing. The pics and reviews looked so good we decided to give this place a try. We ordered the biscuit and gravy. The skimpy amount of gravy was not seasoned properly and tasted bland. The biscuits were dried out too and the combination of both was just yuck! My husband went to the counter and asked for Tabasco sauce and the owner brought him Franks Wing sauce. Really??? If you want good biscuit and gravy, go to Palmers. Bomb.com The eggs Benedict in the photo looks amazing, but that's not what I received. The hollandaise sauce was practically nonexistent and it was on ham not crispy bacon as shown in a Yelp photo. My bad...I guess I assumed I would receive "that" visual masterpiece from the Yelp pics. For a couple more bucks I could've had the eggs Benedict at Victoria's café which is delicious. The owner seemed very nice but he should be doing "quality-control" rather than taking orders. Also, he should be checking up on the customer to make sure they're enjoying their dropped off food. We were never asked. Am I supposed to walk up to the counter again or flag someone down if I need something? Somebody ended up getting a nice tip (from the tip jar) for doing absolutely nothing. My husband's Bloody Mary was quite good but the blood orange fresh squeezed juice was pricy and nothing I would order again. I caught a glimpse of the soup and a salad plate which looked good. I'd like to give them a second chance but I'm fearful of being disappointed TWICE! Sometimes you only get one chance to do it right! Restaurant prices in Bend are high and I'm so tired of spending good money on mediocre food. I wish this place all the best and if they are willing to fix a few things, it could be a great place to enjoy breakfast or lunch.

We've been here a few times and really enjoy the espresso. The baked goods are really tasty also. Haven't tried any of the cocktails or sandwiches yet but we will soon!

Good fresh food the best bloody mary. All three of us were so happy to find this place. Not the best location but just yummy yummy and friendly

Fabulous Salads and Soup...great options for gluten free/paleo!

Wow!! Is it possible to get a better place in town?! Bad wolf is located in the old spot of alpenglow café, right off Newport and wall street. Their breakfast sandwich on the homemade biscuit was super tasty; layered with eggs, kale, bacon, and pickled onion. I know, I know, onions on an egg sandwich? Trust me, its really good! I even went back for lunch on the same day. Their baked goodies are to die for !! Stop in here when you can

So yummy! Family friendly and cutting edge takes on classic dishes. Definitely try it out!

We enjoyed our Eggs Benedict and loved the sweet potato option! Looking forward to trying their infused vodkas. We will definitely be back!

Found this great bistro on a quick stop in Bend. Tasty grilled veggie sandwich and excellent hazelnut brownie. And nice, subtle Dr. Who touches scattered about. Highly recommend it!

Just opened and the service is outstanding. Ingredients are fresh ! Love the small town local feel. A must try .

Official grand opening tonight for dinner... I've been here for breakfast and lunches and the meals are fantastic! Plenty of food to go around! Give it a shot... You'll love it!

Bloody Mary was good, rustic Benedict was good, staff is awesome, just a little pricy for what you get.
