If you're coming here just for a beer, this place is fine. The have an ample selection and are generous with allowing tastings and samplings before you pick. But do yourself a favor and stay away from the food. It is terrible. Everything appears to be prepared in a microwave. Our fondue was a congealed mess barely above room temperature. The soft pretzels were mushy and worse than what you would get at a ballgame from a cart. The sausages on a bun were okay, but not grilled, just warmed up. In short, food appeared to be an afterthought in this place, and there seems to be no care taken to what is served, how it tastes, or how it looks. So, in short, good place to grab a beer, but not dinner.

Fantastic selection of beer that is always rotating. I am so happy this place is getting the recognition it deserves but every time we go it's more crowded than the last time. Great outdoor seating on the little lake. We walk our dogs here often and sit outside and play cards, enjoying a nice brew. The staff is FANTASTIC! They also always have several flavor of Kombucha and at least one wine selection. There is truly something for everyone whether your a seasoned beer drinker or just starting to acclimate your tastebuds!
(5)Nancy B.
Great Kombucha! Coconut-Lime is my absolute favorite! Sometimes the coconut is stronger of the flavors, sometimes the lime. Both are good! I'd never heard of Kombucha before last week - now I know. Been missing out, definitely! They have a great selection of beer and wine, too. And their website has everything they have on tap at any one given time, the fill levels, the alcohol content, whether you can get it in a growler or not. Pretty cool!
(5)J Y.
After reading all of these great reviews I decided to stop in on a Saturday afternoon. It's a great little place with a ton of beers to choose from. The staff was super friendly and helpful when I didn't know what to try first. I'll definitely have to come back and try what else is on tap.
(4)Ryan M.
Best Beer selection in the Area. A must go to
(5)Jordan S.
Tons of beers on tap. They also have a variety of kombucha on tap which is the only place in Portland. Loved it!
(5)Sara R.
This place is really cool. I love the variety, not only do they have tons of beer, but they have cider and wine for those of us that don't drink beer. Its small, and super busy, but they have games (cards against humanity) and outside seating. I love their menu too, digital and on the wall, organized and tells you when they are almost out of a certain kind of drink. :)

Finally, a go to beer spot in the neighborhood! They have over 3 dozen beers on tap, some ciders and kombucha! We got a few pints and found a seat outside, the outdoor seating is nice, but can be really hot if you don't get a table in the shade. The prices I thought were a little expensive for the beer and small plates, but the taste was good overall. It's a better deal to bring your growler, so don't forget that at home. On Tuesday's you can fill that up for $10! Awesome deal. We'll be back. This place is family friendly too. Kids were playing cornhole in the patio area.
(5)Matt C.
I really love the concept of this place. Lots of taps, and very decent prices. My main issue with The Growlerie is that there simply isn't enough cider. I have never seen more than 2 taps as cider, which is just 5% of the taps. In contrast, over 20% is wine and kombacha. In Portland, to have so little cider is the reason I visit rarely. I keep watching the website, hoping for more than Ace and two towns. The Wyders Pear a few weeks back was amazing. This is Portland. More cider please. Otherwise, great concept and good service. Love the establishment but that one thing.....

I heart The Growlerie! The beer selections here are extensive and pleasing. They have something for every taste and style, even a limited, but good selection of wine (usually 3 or 4). They even have some Kombucha if you're a dirty hippie! The menu is always changing and taps always rotating, so every time I return there's something new to try. They also have some small bites like pretzels, chips and salsa, and cheese and crackers to snack on while you imbibe. The venue is fantastic, located right on the Progress Lake with a patio overlooking. Plenty of seating inside at the bar, along the windows, and lots of seating outside on all the patio space. It's a popular place, so try to get a good seat early and protect it with your life. One quality I really like about The Growlerie is the service. The bartenders are really on top of the service and you won't be left standing around or waiting in line for long. They are also all very nice and pretty knowledgeable about the menu items, so don't be afraid to ask questions. They also have cool events from time to time like live music and bingo night. I just recently experienced the bingo night and it was a blast! You can win some pretty fun prizes like free growlers of beer, hats, stickers and other swag. One person even won a small kitchen appliance, a jerky maker I think, and another won the "romance package" which included a romance novel and little love-making accessories. Fun times! This is a great place to bring friends, out of town guests, or your significant other for some good drinks and really great times.

Ah darn it! I've been too fargin' harsh with my star distribution. I've been back again and again and then some more and more and know in my heart - I WAS SO WRONG - It is certainly 5 Stars - (my bad).
(5)Herman S.
I've thanked the Gods many times for opening this place just down the street. The beer is constantly changing and all of it is great stuff. The staff jumps at the chance to help you find the perfect pint. Tastings are expected and Molly and gang know their beer. There is no pretentiousness that comes with many of the city joints. Good beers and ciders. Great people and a sushi joint across the alley. Stay away if that isn't enough for you.
(5)Adam B.
Great selection of local and regional beers. Staff in generally knowledgeable and friendly. Want a taste, heck they'll make it two. Definitely worth picking up a growler or two for the weekend.
(5)Rebekah C.
Great beer, great service! The bartender was really helpful and nice! They have kombucha too!
(5)Elyse L.
The Growlerie is an awesome little place for drinks and snacks in the SW burbs. There's not that much of a selection when it comes to cool bars and breweries on the west side, it consists mostly of chains and dive bars. The Growlerie offers a hip atmosphere, outdoor patio and a great selection of beers, ciders and kombucha flavors. I was a little skeptical about the kombucha but after trying a few samples and getting a glass, I love it! I recommend the dragon fruit flavor. On Tuesdays there are $10 growler fills, which is a nice deal, however, I wish they offered a happy hour as the food can be a bit pricey. Friendly, attentive service and free tasters! I will definitely recommend this place my friends who live on the west side.
(4)Sydney B.
Love this place. I live right around the corner and find myself there more often then I should. To be honest I'm not even a beer drinker, but I make an exception for this place. The options are so vast I always find something I like. Plus my boyfriend loves beer and sometimes you gotta pretend he has a say in this relationship. The deck is nice and everyone is really friendly. Only downside is sometimes there so busy you have to wait a while for a beer. Although they have never been so busy that we could not find a place to sit. All in all my favorite place in Progress Ridge.
(5)M P.
A fun little place for brews on tap. Great brew board and knowledgable bartenders. The nice part was being given the chance to taste a few before purchasing. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is location. The bar is conveniently located in a strip mall near my favorite movie theater, but it has no ambience and a strip mall feel. A little better atmosphere and I would gladly give it the 5th star. Prices are good, selection is vast (42), and people are friendly.
(4)Liza S.
OK, this is only my third growler filing experience, but so far this is the best! We walk up to the counter, and they have a really cool screen that is color coded based on type of drink, and displays info on alcohol %, and how full the keg is. Pretty neat. I was looking at the ciders and captain awesome behind the bar got me a sample of all three. We decided to fill our growler with the cherry pear cider from carlton. Super yummy. I've totally been on a crazy cider kick the last few weeks :) So we decide to have a pint there, and so we try a few samples. A few like maybe 10? 15? Lots. Anyhow I looked at one beer, and all of a sudden a sample appeared before me. No joke. This guy has some kind of sixth sense. It happened once, then twice, and kept going. Seriously awesome. I don't know if he is psychic or just really good at figuring out what I was looking at, but it was a great experience. Kudos to Captain awesome. So anyhow, I got the flight of 4, (which I think was made for people like me who are indecisive)that included the cherry cider (A+), a coffee stout (B), the candycane one (A), and the really odd one with cumin, cayenne, kaffir lime and other stuff (A). I enjoyed them all, and would return for sure. I'm not certain about pricing, as I wasn't the one paying- but our total bill was under $30.
(5)Karli D.
Visited this fine establishment last month when passing through town to visit my cousins. This craft beer bar had awesome digital menu displays of all their current beers on tap which offered details on each brew of location brewed, alcohol percentage, and the amount left in the keg of each specific beer. Pretty neat! They accepted both cash and credit cards, plus the no tax in Oregon was pretty awesome! My cousin and I sat inside and enjoyed two beers while watching Sports Center in ESPN. Not bad at all! Next time I come up to Oregon, I'll be sure to stop by and have another pint.
(5)Kirk T.
I love (my) The Growlerie in Progress Ridge. General Manager Michelle and staff are so good at the customer service thing. Attentive, informed, and at the same time laid back enough to make you feel at home, even when the place is loaded. The business premise is a good one, dolling out goods in 1 to 64 ounce portions with tastes gratis. We all go through the nano-torture of wishing we had been the one to come up with this idea or that idea - important thing here is that this idea was borne, propagated to my backyard, then was populated with fantastic staff like Michelle and her minion who make the business not only work, but prosper. To the owners, thanks. To the staff, sincere appreciation. This happy Growlerier will be back happily, and often.
(5)Emily J.
We were visiting friends nearby and they steered us to The Growlerie one afternoon, while they stayed home with their napping children. As others have mentioned, they have a cool menu system (on big screens above the bar) which show you beer information, including alcohol content and the type of glass it will be served in. There is also a little keg image which shows you approximately how much is still available. We both went with samplers, because I wanted to try a bunch of different Oregon beers. You just note the beer numbers you'd like on the tasting board thing and they fill them up. I could easily see us becoming regulars if we lived in the area.
(5)Andrea K.
This place is cool but they still need to work out some kinks. My husband is a home-brewer and loves this place. The beer board is really cool and they have a great selection. That being said, there isn't much seating because the place is tiny. There is a one-stall bathroom that is coed. After waiting in line for 10 minutes behind two people, I gave up and went to the coffee house a few shops over to go and grab a latte. I also saw them serving some food which consisted of heating things up in a microwave and putting it on a plate....which really turned me off and doesn't seem health code approved. We'll still go but probably just to fill up some growlers and enjoy them at home. Good music selection though and I'm sure it's nicer on hot summer days when you can sit outside.
(3)Beth G.
Nice place, cool patio.
(3)Amy M.
Great place to unwind. I love that you can sample something before you order. Good food offerings too
(5)Kel L.
Great selection of beers; they also offer a couple wines and ciders. However, it you are looking for a quiet, personalized experience this is not your place. If you seek standing room only, over crowded suburbia, take a number chain-type experience: The Growlerie has it all. They get so crowded in the evenings (especially around the weekends) that it's impossible to get a single sample and getting a growler filled takes practice in patience and time. Plus they charge $2 MORE than many other growler places for the EXACT SAME BEER just a few minutes drive. It just felt too much like a shopping mall chain experience for me and since there was no place to sit (5pm on a Friday in February), including the outside tables, it's not worth waiting 20-45 minutes for a chair to sit and have a single sample or beer. There are many other growler fill stations around with that local mom and pop feel at better prices, excellent service-and you can actually sit and taste the beer and chat with the owners.
(3)Katie W.
Nice place love that we can sit outside, they have a nice selection of beer and it's a good location. There are several options for food around this place.
(4)Jessica K.
You've got to be kidding me! Christmas has come early! A growler station near my house??? That alone is worth 5 stars, let alone the fact that they had my favorite beer, Abominable on tap on my first visit! My new 2nd home has something like 40 taps displayed on an easy to follow digital board that even shows how much is left in each keg (like Bailey's). The selection is impressive, mostly from local breweries, but even more impressive they had cider and yes, about 8 offerings of kombucha on tap. If you bring a growler, a fill will set you back about $12-$14. Hungry? They have a small snack menu and you can enjoy your food at one of the tables in the back. You can even catch a game on the tv back there. They thought of all my basic needs! I of course love the concept of these growler fill places. I love that I can get great local beer closer to home. I loved the friendly employees and I even loved the cute growler theme. As I turned to leave, growler in hand, I felt like Tiny Tim and I nearly shouted, "God bless us, everyone!"
(5)Anthony K.
Awesome place. Just hoping the Growler business doesnt turn into an over saturated business in which people start struggling to make profits. (i.e.) FROYO. They have exactly what you need here. Small bites, beer, ciders, etc. I would def go back!
(4)M C.
I always feel at home here, it's like Cheers- everybody knows your name. It's fun trying so many new beers. Michele the manager is super personable. Go get a taster flight, and a hummus plate you won't regret it! Ps sometimes if your lucky there is live music... Pretty decent.
(5)Sam W.
Friendly tap maidens. Free tasters. Nice selection of beers including sours, fruits, and wilds. A little light on IPAs, but they currently have Boneyard RPM, so no need anything else. My only real complaint would be the 4 (of 42) taps wasted on kombucha. Also 4 wine taps for those of you needing the grape. We'll be back when next we have to come out to Beaverton.
(5)L K.
Blazer game, live music, local beer and cider.... Perfect Wednesday! The hummus plate and pulled pork sliders were pretty good! Happy to have this place in the neighborhood.
(5)Mitch K.
People know their beer here. Gets a bit croweded but with nicer weather they have an outside patio area overlooking the lake thing. Always a good selection of beer and usually pretty hard to find brews too. One of the better taphouses out in the suburbs.
(4)Kate L.
Love all the ever changing selections and the staff is always so chipper! Whenever we have friends in town we always stop here to fill up our growlers with something new (which is never hard to do!), but at times it can be hard to decide on what to try! It's always good!
(5)Anastasia J.
Such a great place. My boyfriend and I come here all the time. They make sampling the beers to find new favorites so fun. The spicy hot and spicy garlic pretzels also complement the beer perfectly. Not to mention the gorgeous little lake view on the back patio. Great place must try!
(5)Brian C.
I love the Growlerie! So much beer on tap, and the staff is pretty awesome. My one complaint is that there is never much selection of amber beer. It's mostly pale ales and stouts, with a good selection of ciders too. I'm not a fan of bitter, so it leaves me with very few options. The place has a great vibe and is awesome for hanging out with friends in a chill atmosphere. If you haven't checked the place out yet, I definitely recommend it!
(4)Darbie E.
We loved the vast selection of beers and other beverages to try. Looking forward to trying the food next time. The staff was helpful and patient, even though it was really busy in there. Sitting outside overlooking the pond was nice. We were quite surprised that the seating outdoors was not enclosed in any way considering this is a beer establishment. Oh well, we enjoyed it!
(5)Candice M.
My husband and I agree: the beer available (at least last week) was just sub par. One flight, several tastes, and a growler later, we were sure that we would never visit this out of the way spot again. If you like grungy music and over-served patrons, you'll like the atmosphere at The Growlerie. The bartender was friendly, but it just didn't make up for everything else.
(2)Ramie M.
Didn't get a chance to try the food, but I plan to return so I will update my review when I can. Awesome selection of beers. They also have a relatively real-time updated chart on big TVs that shows how much of the keg is left, or if it was recently tapped. Also if you check-in on Foursquare or Twitter, it streams in a ticker on the TV. They're friendly about letting you sample a few before deciding on one. You can get 4oz, 12oz, or 16oz pours. I went with three 4oz pours and it was only $4.50 - can't argue there! The taps rotate regularly, so it is always worth checking back for new beers. They also fill growlers and have growler supplies.
(4)Y M.
Love this place, good service, nice outdoor seating. This isn't a restaurant, it's a taproom...they are generous with tastings before you buy and always have something new to try. Food isn't the main reason to come here but they do have an amazing hummus plate that is delicious with a cold beer. Love having them in the neighborhood.
(5)Wade G.
I'm from out of town and was looking for a unique Oregonian beer. The staff was pretty helpful and narrowed down what I liked. I ended up getting the arch rock. It was delicious. Also the outside view is pretty nice.
(5)Rachel K.
LOVE! Nothing but good things to say about this place. I've been here many times. Love the menu screen. Love every person I've ever worked with that works there. Love every beer I've ever tried. Love the atmosphere both indoors and outdoors. It's fun to sit at the bar and chat or sit outside and look at the little lake at progress ridge. I've also tried the hummus plate and it was delicious! I recommend coming here for sure!
(5)Allie T.
We love this place! For the picky beer drinker, getting tiny tasters is a great way to find the perfect refreshing pint! Always a great selection and amazing, friendly staff!! Expand!!
(5)Ashley M.
Please turn on your air conditioning!!!!! It will make your customers super happy. Portlandians aren't accustomed to excessive heat and discomfort distracts from the quality of your products and your service!
(2)Katie R.
These people know what they have and know what they'er doing. I've been in there a couple times and I can never get enough of their selection and ever changing taps. Take your time there, bring in some friends for a good conversation over the drinks, and come back again. I plan on making a trip there every trip I take back to Oregon.
(5)MARIANNE M.
It's more than a beer on tap pub it's becoming a landmark. Try the ciders and wines and kombucha all on tap.
(4)Laura H.
The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Their selection changes often and they give good recommendations based on what guests say they enjoy. Beer, wine, kambucha, and even root beer on tap, so something for everyone. Oh and don't forget the awesome view of Progress Ridge Lake right outside the door. They've got tables and outside heaters. Perfect place to get some sun on nice days.
(5)Robert B.
I am so thankful to have this great taproom so close by to my residence! They always have a great and wide selection of beers and ciders on tap and I usually check what's on tap by using my phone and surfing their website to see the live keg updates. Service here is usually pretty good and a couple televisions broadcast the lateset sporting events. Plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the tranquil man made lake of Progress Ridge....in fact on a recent sunny April Day...some friends and I were sitting outside enjoying our beers when a bald eagle swooped down and grabbed a fish from this lake...AMAZING! The only downside about The Growlerie in my opinion is it's a fairly smaller taproom, so indoor seating can be limited as is the food menu, only a couple of appetizers essentially...but, most people come here to drink rather than eat...and Progress Ridge has many food options. If you are a beer fan, give The Growlerie a try!
(4)Ron M.
The growlerie is a great stop if you are in the Progress Ridge area. I live close and have visited since they opened. They have a great selection of beers, ciders, and kombucha. I like the fact that I can always go in there and find something new to try. When they first opened, their small plates were good and the staff was friendly and always willing to offer their opinions on what to try. A few months back, there was a huge turnover in staff and perhaps owners, I am not 100% sure. However, since then the new staff is not nearly as friendly and their small plates are so so (the last time I was there they didn't have some of the small plates listed on the menu). I love this place and hope it doesn't fall by the wayside.
(4)Amber A.
It's so great to have this fantastic little place to fill the growler with great local beers, ciders, wines, and kombucha! The staff here is super friendly and always in a good mood. I suggest grabbing a flight (or a pint) and enjoy the beautiful weather out by the pond! Definitely worth checking out!!
(4)Zee W.
We love this place! Especially on a hot day we stroll over with the baby and have a glass of local beer. The staff is always friendly and engaging. I also like that you can sample the beers before you decide what you want. You like beer and friendly people try this place! :)
(5)Josh D.
Visited with my parents and wife around Christmas. The staff was very friendly, even offered my dad and I a tour of their beer storage area. I was impressed with their selections. They are sure to have a beer you will love with as many options as they have on tap. The food selection is minimal but for not being a restaurant I guess it is okay. I will be back, especially since it is within walking distance for me. Cheers!!
(5)Lake G.
I really can't speak more highly of The Growlerie- this place is splendid in every way. This is exactly what this part of town needed for beer fans. Selection: Awesome pick of beers so far. These aren't your usual grocery store choices. Whoever curates their picks has an eye for quality and variety. I saw Fearless, Alameda, Firestone, Fort George and several other quality breweries on tap there. And their picks from those breweries wasn't mainstream stuff that you can buy anywhere. Truly a great selection And for those who want something different, The Growlerie also had some stellar Root Beer and Kombucha available too. Not bad Price: I believe the Growlers cost ~$15 a pop, which isn't bad at all for microbrews. You can also buy half-growlers for half the price, which is great for variety. If you don't own a growler, they practically give away their glass ones for ~$6 (or $3 for a half growler). Sampling: Oh yes, try before you buy- when I stopped in they were happy to let me sample several beers before I pulled the trigger. Always nice to know how a microbrew tastes before you commit money to buying some for a party. This allows you to experiment without having to worry about getting a dud that no one likes. Interior: Nice clean modern setup with a northwestern flair (lots of wood). LCD screens on the walls display what they have on tap, prices, and how much they have available of each. Nice bar area with small tables as well, in case you want to order a beer and treat the Growlerie like a bar rather than a refill station For beer fans out in the suburbs west of Portland, this is THE destination to stock up for a party and to sample some new flavors without having to go far from home. A welcome addition to Progress Ridge!
(5)Jamie B.
Great beer selection! Very informative and helpful staff. Tried multiple beers before making a decision!
(5)Trevor A.
Very cool place! I've only been in once but I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the bartender while I was there. They have a great selection of beers on tap so there really is something for everyone. After being bombarded with about 10 free samples I finally decided on their seasonal summer ale. Delicious! Will definitely be back! :-)
(5)Cory O.
Lots of good sounding beers on tap, but unfortunately never got a chance to try any. Waited patiently as who I assume is the owner milled around and bullshitted without so much as a 'be with you in a minute.' 15 minutes and zero beers later, we walked out.
(1)Risley W.
Great beer selection with wonderful people to help! Answered all my questions with sample to help!
(5)Carl S.
Clean, simple style. Many choices of beers on tap from local and west coast brewers. Friendly staff, free samples and good prices. If you don't have your own growler container they can sell you one for $5. Tried a pinup porter. Very nice. I will be back.
(4)Jeff G.
This is a decent plAce to buy beer. I have been here a few times. They have rotating beer. The food menu makes me want to eat at the other places nearby as they seem like a better option
(3)Michael S.
This is now my favorite bar in the Beaverton/Tigard area. They are constantly changing out their taps with lots of beers from several small microbreweries around Oregon as well as a few of the old stand-by beers. All of the staff are friendly and helpful and are willing to let you sample as many beers as you'd like to find the perfect beer for a pint or your growler (or maybe both!). I will be coming here as much as I possibly can from now on!
(5)M B.
So many beers on tap that there is a little of something for everyone. I'm not a fan of overly hopped beer and that's a huge problem in this state. Lots of good beers on tap here that I can drink. Free samples before buying. Nice people. Good price. Worth the money.
(5)KC K.
Love this place. They keep the samples flowing and don't pressure you to buy. Of course you'll sample nine beers and eventually find something you love so you'll buy anyway. Highly recommend this for the beer lover.
(5)
