UPDATE: TWO TIMES I had DIARRHEA from a SINGLE piece of chicken!! The walls here are cool, but the servers are even colder. They do their job and nothing more. Furthermore, the food is less than alright. The Pad Thai is very sweet and the chicken makes me feel nauseous every time I get close to it. Eating one piece left me gulping down my water. All the rice that the chicken touched turned bad as well. However, not all the food is bad. The Tom Yum soup was great and so was the Thai iced tea. Judging by the other reviews, I must've ordered the wrong thing.

Price wise this is the best Thai restaurant in town. We ordered BBQ chicken, salmon green beans, and garden rolls. The serving is huge. We had to take it out. And we paid only $28. The menu choices are long and more diverse than others in town. I'm eyeing for salmon curry and the volcano next visit.

Visited here with my mom and sister who were in town for the weekend. I ordered the Pad See Ew with beef with Mild spice, my sister ordered the Pad See Ew with Tofu with Medium spice, and my mom ordered the Pad Thai with Beef with Medium spice. We also ordered the crab puffs for an appetizer. The crab puffs were very good, but they messed up the spiciness of our orders. I ended up with the medium spiciness and my mom and sister had the mild. Even though the waitress was very nice and there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant, we hardly saw her at all so that we could ask for a refill of our water. On the plus side, they do have quite large portions for a reasonable price. I would come back here, but maybe only do take out and double check that the spiciness is correct.

I'd like to review the food but we never had a chance to try it so I'll rate the service instead. My sis and I went to eat at Monteaux Public House which was unexpectedly closed ( we found out they closed their doors for good today). Then we went next door to sushi which is yummy but had a line out the door, so we decided on Thai Cabin since we both love this food even though that wasn't our mission today. Any who, we semi promptly got seated, ogled the menu, and no one came by. We figured we'd at least get water. Nope. After at least 10 minutes, we got up and went back to Shoten for sushi and were promptly served and fed.

I've lived in the area for years and never been in here. My kid's dad has been here a few times,it's about a block from his office in that nameless shoe place, so the other day when we needed a quick lunch he suggested it. I said, how is the food? and he said, I dunno. Uh huh. That budding foodie thing, that was shortlived with him. Back to apathy. Actually I think they talk software the whole time and could be eating cardboard, that's kind of how that kind of lunch plays out with those boys. The server was not tremendously friendly, but she seated us and brought us menus and water quickly enough. She never did make any eye contact. Husband got pad kee mow with chicken, medium. It arrived quickly, a big pile of noodles with veggies and chicken. There was a lot of it, he took half home for the next day's lunch. Me too,the taking home part, only I ordered Eggplant with pork. It was pretty good, it had nice heat ( also medium) and a pile of rice. I was surprised that the eggplant was stripped of it's skin and in little tiny strips...it was hard to tell them apart from the bamboo shoots. The pork was mostly tender with only a little bit of chewy stuff. Not bad. We got free skinny little eggrolls because it's their anniversary. The only reason I know this is because it was on the sign on the door. The server never mentioned it, they just showed up on the plate. I think they had glass noodles and carrots in them, they were just ok. The restaurant itself is quite attractive, and overall it was a nice experience. They have lunch specials for about $7-8. They could up the friendliness factor just a tad. This particular strip mall at 159th and Walker is becoming something of a ghost town. I would worry about them a little bit, but my husband saw a bunch of his coworkers here, so maybe it's ok. If enough engineers eat forgettable lunches here, they will be fine.

This place is always a great place to catch lunch, not too far, but just far away enough to not be having a company staff meeting. I swear, if I go to places right around work, its' like I didn't even leave.. lol. So we got there about 11:30, place was empty, we were the first ones. Food was great, I had the shrimp fried rice and my co worker had the shrimp pad Thai- both were spot on. I love the generous portions of the food. The salad rolls are also to die for.. one of my favorites for sure. It's a great lunch place to meet friends and have a place where you can hear everyone.

This place is close to my new place so I decided to give it a whirl. The salad rolls/spring rolls are really good, and the peanut sauce was so yummy, although I would have wanted more. The Pad Thai was definitely not my favorite, but frankly I was so full from the salad rolls I didn't even need to eat it. Take-out service was quick and easy, but prices were a little high for what I got. Probably will be going to a different place.

Its just plain bad customer service. We called in around 8:30 for our order, and clearly mentioned DINEIN and that we would be there in 10 mins. We reached around 8:45, but the guy at front desk mentioned he thought it was takeout. He also added since they will be closing in a few minutes we cannot dinein. We thought.. what the heck, thats ok, and were getting ready to pay, now the same guy says we need to wait 10-15 mins for the order to be ready since they haven't yet started making the order yet. Why would be need to wait 10-15 mins and not be able to DINE IN? I was a bit pissed off, and decided to cancel the order instead and went to Thai Orchid instead. They close at 10:00, but last order 9:30, even thought we reached around 9:25, we were greeted well, and we were able to dine in. Long story short, they lost my business! Felt that was rather rude!

Went to this place a few times when we first moved to the area, but the more we ate here the more obvious it became that this place was ok, but nothing more. Most of their appetizers are very deep fried, and not in a good way. Their phad thai is really oily and not very flavorful, and whenever we tried a new dish we never really found anything we thought they did particularly well. The dishes were on the pricey side for thai, and with all the food options around, this place really isn't worth the visit.

Well first time is going to be our last time. The food was ok, I had red curry chicken and Lisa had yellow curry chicken. Our waitress put the food on the table and called our meals something entirely different, Lisa had ordered hers mild and it turned out as spicy as mine. Once we were served we were forgotten, it took way too long to get the check. Overall the food was average, table was sticky and the service was below acceptable. Maybe it was a Monday and only a staff of 3 was part of the problem, but there are too many other Thai restaurants that deserve a try to not always be on your game

The first Thai food I've had since returning home from 3 years near Bangkok. The Panang was diss appointing, but everything else was delicious. I doubt Panang can really be done correctly without proper local herbs and spices. The "Pad Thai Volcano" is actually tradional style...sort of. Bottom line, delicious Thai food.

I came here with a group of 25 for dinner and had a bad experience because I don't think they're capable of handling a big group. They were so confused that they would walk back and forth saying the name of the dish they had, without any idea of which of the 4 tables ordered the dish. They also didn't time it well so at least people from the same table would get their food at roughly the same time. When the bill came, it was truly a nightmare. They put everyone's order on one single bill, and refused to split it up between the 4 tables. To me it doesn't seem like a big deal to split the bill up even in half, but they made it sound like it's impossible to do. Some people didn't want to split the bill evenly, so we ended up spending a lot of time calculating the prices and trying to get the right amount of cash/change for people. This could have easily been avoided if they just billed us by table. The food itself wasn't very good either. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good. The pad thai I ordered was too sweet, and I had to add a lot of hot sauce to it just to balance out the flavors. My table also shared two of the appetizers, which was also underwhelming.

I'm done with this place. We've probably eaten here over 10 times. They consistently get our order wrong and the vegetables are hard. The final straw was last night I ordered something with eggplant in it. Besides all the other vegetables seeming like they had just been dumped in raw and mixed, the eggplant was rock hard and had a funny color. The dish cost $10! I don't think they hire enough people because the wait staff is always rushed. Couple that with the inability to communicate with your staff and it's not a very relaxing environment.

This place has pretty good Thai food. I came here with a pretty big group of people, so we ended up ordering a lot of plates and appetizers. For appetizers, we ordered their chicken satay, crispy fried wontons, and calamari. All were delicious, but the chicken satay takes the medal for being the yummiest. Second, the calamari dish. Main course we ordered: pineapple curry with shrimp, garlic shrimp, fried salmon with green beans, & pad thai. The garlic shrimp is a must try if you love garlic! The shrimp is on a bed of healthy and delicious greens (broccoli, asparagus, & spinach), but what's so awesome about it is how the garlic sauce from the shrimp seeps through the veggies, making the whole dish taste really awesome. The pineapple curry is yummy--the pineapple squirts out a sweet sensation mixed in with the curry taste. The pad thai was awesome as well! I never have to wait when I eat at Thai Cabin, and the service is generally friendly and no more than a 15 minute wait for a meal. They also have take-out, which seems to be really popular. Good place for Thai food =]

Considering the fact that you can't swing a dead cat in PDX area and not hit a Thai Place, it takes a lot to distinguish yourself as a go to Thai place. Thai Cabin does that. Clean and well-decorated, friendly staff and easy parking add the great food. My favorite is the Thai Basil. If you like chicken, Be sure and ask for ground chicken. So much better... T

I love Thai food, so perhaps my liking of Thai Cabin comes from the fact that I had not Thai food in a long, long time. That said, this was an excellent choice for lunch. It's almost walking distance from the Nike campus and it provided a nice change of pace from the cafeteria. The pad thai was excellent, but not spicy enough in my opinion. Maybe they were going easy on me due to my fare-colored skin. Regardless, pad thai is one of the primary dishes to test and it was definitely above average. And b/c of that, I've frequented this establishment on several other occasions. I confess that I have not had dinner here. And secondly, they didn't have honey to put in my green tea. Cheers!

This was my second trip and like revisiting a favorite sitcom from the 80's I wish I would have left it just a pleasant memory. Positives....Very clean, light and bright, and pleasant dinning atmosphere. Nice menu, a few good pics helped to swing a decision or two. Negatives...Krab with a K! I was saddened to find out upon biting into my crab puffs that they had neglected to advise me that not only was the crab not fresh but that it was not crab at all. Unfortunately that set the tone for the remainder of my meal. The peanut dipping sauce for the spring rolls resembled the peanut butter left in the deep recesses of my cupboards from years past. The garlic basil fried rice seemed to lack garlic and basil except for a dusting as garnish. I will say the Pad Ke Mao was a saving grace to the meal. The noodles were thick, well prepared and very flavorful. It may have replaced the Thai Orchard which once resided there but the mediocrity seems to have found a way to linger on.

For irony there are 5 reviews for this same address as Thai Orchid, but never having been here under that name this will be a first. Thai Cabin was clean and pleasing to the eye, the staff pleasant and helpful. The menus were not overwhelming like some where there are hundreds of Thai dishes. It had a nice sampling of about 8 per category and a couple of special sheets. The spring rolls were pretty standard, but nice and fresh. The larb had a good flavor but was served with cabbage leaves instead of the normal iceburg that is used. The special volcano was an interesting dish which was basically chicken and shrimp pad Thai wrapped in a scrambled egg sheet. The flavor here was also nice, but disappointing in when asked for hot they seem to just add a bunch of red pepper flakes. Granted the heat level went up, but for those who like it hot (like me) it was easy to tell that the heat wasn't part of the original dish. Andrew Zimmerman won't be sweating it out on this dish, and neither was I. Thai Cabin though definitely will get another shot at glory as overall the dining experience was nice.

Am I crazy for really liking this average Thai place? Perhaps. Yes, it is located in one of those nondescript Beaverton strip malls and probably earns their keep on the business lunch hours. And yes, I was initially taken here against my will, but read on. First, I think we can all agree that every Thai place is pretty much the same, so it was nice to see some relatively unique options on the menu. The salmon and pumpkin curry was amazing, seriously. The taste of the curry was spot on so I could forgive the salmon being deep-fried, not that I don't love deep-fried salmon. The massaman curry was a little bland to me, but I think it would have been better if the person who ordered it didn't ask for mild. But out of the 6 dishes we ordered, the weakest link was definitely the Pad Thai; even though it wasn't bad on its own, the other things we ordered were far better. As far as atmosphere, you can't expect much from this place. Even the sign out front is in a plain red font that is vaguely familiar, but I can't put my finger on it. The inside is done in sterile suburban, and of course the menu is entirely in Comic Sans. Bangkok, it ain't. But for an average Thai place, which is sometimes what you really need, Thai Cabin gets two thumbs up from me. (And I promise I'm not letting the fact that they gave us plastic take home containers AKA free tupperware influence my rating.)

The food is a bit overpriced even for thai food. The food was good but not as good as other places I have eaten such as Zab Thai, Pac Thai, or Thai Chili Jam. They have amazing rice here. I am not sure what kind of rice they use but its delicious.

And b/c of that, I've frequented this establishment on several other occasions. I confess that I have not had dinner here. And secondly, they didn't have honey to put in my green tea. Cheers!

Not the best, but certainly not the worst Thai food I've had. Before I came into this place, I was very skeptical. Once I stepped inside, I was impressed. The place was very spacious, you could tell that they had regulars, and the servers were on top of things. They had lunch specials, which is pretty typical for a Thai restaurant.

This is one of the closest and best and quick Thai places I have been to.

The food is a bit overpriced even for thai food. The food was good but not as good as other places I have eaten such as Zab Thai, Pac Thai, or Thai Chili Jam. They have amazing rice here. I am not sure what kind of rice they use but its delicious.

This place is great! Some of the very best Thai food I've ever had, very clean, very fast and friendly service. All at a great price! Seriously, this place is the best and deserves a recent review that shows how good this place really is. AMAZING for a mini-strip mall place!

(2)DA Y.

The food was good but the service left something to be desired. I felt forgotten because it took over 30 minutes before someone came to my table to ask for my order.

Only have had their chicken pad thai, which was better than I thought it would be. It's only 7 dollars on the weekend. portion is good too.

(3)Kimlynn V.
I tried the mixed vegetables with tofu and brown rice dish for lunch at a medium heat. It wasn't too terrible but didn't have much flavor like other places nor was it spicy with the medium heat.
(2)R K.
Food was Mediocre at best and service wasn't all that great either. Not friendly at all. On top of all that. The price and portion disparity is much too wide. Will not be back.

(3)Ashok R.
(1)Jordan M.
(2)Steve B.
(2)Dean C.

(2)Jen J.

This place is pretty nice, I like the decor and the staff. The location is a little strange ( I somehow manage to get lost everytime). Its good thai food, not incredibly amazing, but by no means is it bad. Usually I only come to this restaurant to visit someone who works nearby on their break. I wouldn't go out of my way to have it.

Food (F) Service (S) Atmosphere (A) F=5 (Amazing, fresh, super flavorful) S=4 (Nice servers, a little slow) A=3 (Minimal decor, simple, nothing showy) If you enjoy fresh food that tastes great, then you'll enjoy this Thai Cabin. Service can be slow at times, but once you get your food you'll forget about all the bad things in your life. I have tried several dishes here and they have all been very fresh and extremely tasty. Give this place a try, you'll enjoy your decision more with each bite.

The best tofu spring rolls. Moved out of state and now I only get them once a year :(

This is one of the closest and best and quick Thai places I have been to.

This place is great! Some of the very best Thai food I've ever had, very clean, very fast and friendly service. All at a great price! Seriously, this place is the best and deserves a recent review that shows how good this place really is. AMAZING for a mini-strip mall place!
