This place dishes up my favorite teriyaki sauce of all time - a sauce that, it just so happens, they make fresh on-site. It's so delicious and the people at Sakura's are just so awesome, that they thoughtfully bottle some of it and sell to customers! That said, it's $3.95 for a huge bowl of perfectly cooked rice and grilled chicken slathered in this superbly done teriyaki sauce. Yeah, I know. It's rad. Everything here is hugely portioned, well priced, and well made. Amy, the owner, is super nice and thoughtful. In the colder months she'll bring out hot fresh miso soup and in the summer months she'll have little bowls of tangy-sweet cucumber salad to go with your meal. They have an EXCELLENT sushi menu and their fish is always fresh and well-prepared. Saturday is $1 sushi day!!! Though I believe they tweaked that to $1 sushi ROLL day, but still. The rolls are also good. When I'm feeling a bit more than peckish, my favorite is the teriyaki chicken & gyoza combo plate, which when you add in the heaps of rice and the stir-fried veggies that comes with it, is plenty for a hearty appetite with still enough left over for lunch the next day. Oh but there is a negative - I NEVER win at the video poker machines they've got in the back!

The General Tso chicken is the best in town, I've been to many places but Sakura definitely has the best. Also great customer service and a good menu.

Service was not great. The waitress stood behind the counter and stared at me eat. It got really awkward. I just got a to go container and left. The chicken teriyaki was ok, but too much rice and cabbage. Portion could have been cut in half. I still would have been full. Prices aren't bad except for the fountain soda. Ridiculous to charge $2.25 for a large soda and .50 cents a refill. I could get a two liter for cheaper.

This is one of my daughter's faves! Good food, good service. Nothing really to complain about. It has a game room if you are craving some video poker. Nice low key atmosphere.there is a TV if you can't live without one.

We've been going here for several years but the prices have gone up significantly, the portions are smaller and the salad dressing tasted old and rancid the last time we were there. Also, for orders under $10, they charge an extra 50 cents. That information may be posted somewhere, but we did not see it.

Decided to try it. Crab puffs were tasteless, even the dipping sauce tasted like it was out of a jar and had no flavor. i had the spicy chicken and though they actual got it hot enough for my liking it was on par with the puffs, no flavor. Eveything was bland and no amount of soy sauce or on the table teriyaki sauce gave it any help. My wifes chicken teriyaki rice bowl was about the same, lacked a flavor profile. Prices were not too bad but with no flavor to the food, maybe not. Nice staff, good service and clean were the only positives and are what is saving this from only 1 star. We'll try other places in the future.

This place started out nice and had good food, I am not sure if it was sold or what happened but the place has gone DOWN hill. Last time I was in there it had lotto and keno machines and the tables were dirty. It has zero ambience and I am definately not going back. If you want plain cheap food, this is your place. If you are looking for good food and a nice place to sit and eat, don't bother

The service was great - the owner's daughter was training a new employee who was apparently willing to please. The food, however, left something to be desired. The sauce everyone has been raving about wasn't that great, either. Not my cup of tea.

I eat lunch here very frequently and dinner sometimes. It is a great lunch place! For under $5 you can get a chicken fried rice bowl or a teriyaki chicken bowl. The serving size is a very good value. The chicken is always good and the teriyaki sauce is great. Have had just a few of the sushi rolls, but I have always enjoyed them. The chicken curry is really good as well. My kids love the yakisoba noodles. This is the kind of place that you never stop at unless you know you should (you should!) or unless you live and/or work in the neighborhood. But once you do it is the place to go for a fast delicious lunch at a great value. And the staff is friendly and if you show up regularly get to know you. Highly recommend.

Worst Chinese food we've ever had. The service was great and people were friendly but the food was disgusting. We ordered 3 different meals, Beef Broccoli (didn't taste like beef), General Tso (It looked and tasted like teriyaki sauce mixed with Sriracha sauce) and Sesami Chicken (had no sesami seeds and basically tasted like soggy breaded chicken soaked in teriyaki sauce). I would not recomend this place at all unless you are just going to go play video poker.

Kindof poor quality dark chicken meats (for meat keeps this place in the poor column. Gnats are flying all over the sticky dining room. Sorry, just the facts here. Orange Chicken was just distasteful and to me very poor quality.

I am relatively new to the sushi world. My boyfriend and I randomly went to this place after doing a google search for good sushi places. I have tried 8 other sushi restaurants since coming to Sakura and its the best I've ever had. The asparagus rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and cucumber rolls are the best! Everything is always very fresh and delicious. In fact, I'm going to eat there right now!!

Went here today after a hike at nearby Cooper Mountain. The chicken and teriyaki bowl - white rice, grilled chicken, teriyaki sauce, mixed veggies if you want them - is now $4.25 and is very good. Portion size was good for the price, service was friendly, place was clean, and we got a healthy dose of CNN in the background. They have extra bottles of the teriyaki sauce on each table, so if your like me and you like to reapply your sauces frequently, you will have every opportunity to do so here.

I have been a patron of Sakura in Beaverton for over 15 years. The food is beyond exceptional!!!!!!! The owners have managed to stay local during some of the toughest economic times. I am very thankful that this local, fabulous, establishment has been able to stay. I can't begin to say how much I LOVE their food and hospitality. My daughter and I moved away for a while. All my daughter wanted was Sakura while we were in the Mid-west and now that we are back. Thank you, Sakura, for still being there and still having the BEST food in town!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are heading there now to not just eat but to SAVOR your amazing food and flavors. WOOHOO!!!! As good as it gets!!!!!!!!!!! That's my Sakura. I am so HAPPY to be back in Beaverton. THANK YOU Sakura.

Just ate here after searching on yelp. Myself and my parents all agree they SUCK. We knew it was a gamble eating there, but we couldn't have expected this. Food was bland, and had a blah taste to it. As my dad said "it tastes like it came out of a frozen and re frozen box." this coming from somebody who eats most anything. After we were all said in done he said the best thing to sum it all up. "throw that shit in the garbage as far as I'm concerned".

This is an old haunt of mine, so I have put off this review for some time, hoping to make it as objective as possible. A recent visit, however, made my decision a bit easier. This is still an awesome place to get several better-than-average meals of the Japanese and Chinese variety. (The spicy shrimp is still amazing as always!) and the sushi cuts are extremely generous, even if they are not up to the same standards as they were years back. As Melinda B. noted, the teriyaki sauce is the true crowing achievement at Sakura - it is practically its own food group! Add that to one fo the chicken teriyaki bowls and you have a quick, cheap, and tasty lunch special! Of course, Amy is totally friendly and completely amazing, but since she has been expanding her dominion (it's awesome to see her doing so well!) there has been a bit of a drop in the quality of service, most notably from those that work in the restaurant to help out. Her daughter is pretty good, but there have been some situations where others have been there to take my order who have been way less than enthusiastic about their charge. All in all, I wanted to give this place a perfect mark, and it is pretty close, but Sakura was a much better place before things got bigger. Even so, it is still better than 98% of all other places in the area for reasonably priced and tasty Japanese and Chinese cuisine!

Just recently stumbled on the local neighborhood place. Glad we did! Great value for the little money. Their teriyaki sauce is some of the best, super friendly service, and always leave satisfied. The "recession buster" value is an absolute steal. I would recommend it to everyone I know. Haven't tried the sushi yet but look forward to giving that a shot soon.

Really poor quality meat... Ordered the orange chicken and honestly couldn't eat it without feeling nauseous. The meat was tough and fatty. Vegetable tempura is okay. Chicken fried rice is tasteless. Won't be coming back.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
