The best small Italian restaurant in Portland and suburbs. It's not authentic Italian but it's insanely good. They have the best salad and bread combination. You don't need anything else. Their bread is always soft and warm. Their previous location was more cozy and romantic. The new place kills allot of their appeal. But the food is the same, brilliant. They are always friendly and make for a pleasurable dining experience.

I don't know why it is so hard to find a quick pasta place here in the area... so I will admit that my expectations were not very high when I first tried this place. I am so happy to say that I was wrong! This is now my go-to quick Italian place when I am on that side of town (please put one in over near Tigard!!). I have tried 4 different dishes that were on their list of options and they have all been wonderful. The southwestern chicken plate is by far my favorite so far, but it is a special they offer from time to time and not on their regular daily menu. If someone was to tell me to put black beans and corn in my pasta I would have thought they were crazy but it works and it is absolutely wonderful!

So lets start off with the bad. 1. Alex is the rudest piece of dirt to ever bring his stench cloud into a restaurant and provide service. Huge chip on this guys shoulder. Can someone fire this jerk? You are hurting your own business by having this chump run the show. 2. Mediocre pasta dishes for a fair chunk of change tossed up by a toolbag named Alex. 3. AC is broken during the hottest days of summer. 4. You need anger management classes after eating here and having to talk to Alex the toolbag. Lets end with the good. 1. New ownership. The old owner TED was a horrible human being. Unfortunately his slightly nicer doppleganger of doom named Alex still works here. 2. Linda is super nice. Maybe she should be manager instead of Alex the jerkface? 3. It smells really good. 4. Lots of parking. 5. They deliver to your door through Delivered Dish. One more note: Please FIRE, TERMINATE, LET GO, RUN OVER, CAN Alex who is about as helpful as a bag of hammers at a broadway show. Sincerely, Head of the Alex hater fan club!

Pasta is nice. So is the other food and the service. Friendly waiters. They do serve beer, you can certainly grab one till your order arrives on the table.. But... The only thing I didn't like about the place is that it's a prepaid service.. It gets a little difficult to quickly decide and order right at the billing counter.. Full table service would make the place perfect..

Pasta Pronto has been hit or miss with us in its various locations over the last 6-7 years. Some of our experiences have been better than others. This time we had food brought to us by Delivered Dish. I will be honest, we tried to get it from Bugatti's first but they werent accepting any more orders. My Princess NEEDED salmon pasta and NOW. The good: -We like the bread in both plain and garlic versions. -The pasta is typically al dente. -They let you choose a pasta, sauce, and add in protein for a reasonable amount of money. My daughter's requested angel hair, alfredo, and salmon was about $5-6 less than it would be from Bugatti's. - Veggie sides are reasonable and cooked well. My asparagus was really good this time. - The family dinners are a deal. The bad: -They microwave a lot. If you go in, you see and hear that. - The food is salty. Somes REALLY salty. -The side salad has ALWAYS been straight from a bag with the same not awesome dressing despite years of feedback that its bad from patrons. -Occasional weirdness. Frozen breaded eggplant slab in the veggie lasagna. Family ravioli that has curly noodles in the bottom of the container to bulk it up cheaper. Mushrooms and mushy peas in the carbonara. Now I like mushrooms and peas but carbonara is egg, bacon, parm, pepper, and pasta. Period. I like that it's local. Alex, the chef/owner is usually friendly. I'm definitely glad the interior seems less dusty ( there used to be a lot of Italian themed kitch) and more sparse/streamlined/clean. So I will continue to try. As long as there is angel hair/alfredo/salmon/broccoli for my kid.

I used Delivered Dish to order from Pasta Pronto last night and it was pretty good, the 2 slices of Garlic Bread for $1.35 is delicious and very worth the money! I ordered the Pasta Carbonara and hubby got the Salmon With Bowties. Both were pretty good, the portions are generous. The Bowtie and Salmon entree tasted almost exactly like the Carbonara, I tasted no hint of Gouda. The Carbonara had a ton of Prosciutto but it was flabby, I would have preferred a crispy bacon. They Entree's came with Bread and a Salad. The salad is terribly pathetic, they throw some bagged salad mix into a clear shell container and jammed a little plastic cup of salad dressing in the middle. I would be happy if they skip the "salad", I threw it out because I could smell the preservatives and knew it was from a bag. No tomatoes, nothing but lettuce, kind of insulting if you ask me, why bother. I used to frequent their old location almost weekly, I am sad to see they no longer carry my favorite pasta which was Chicken Artichoke Pesto Cream Pasta or something along those lines, that was freaking delicious, I hope they bring it back!

I've been going here for years, and even though I moved 40 minutes away, I still make the trip regularly. Fresh food. Fantastic service. Very reasonable prices. They graciously accommodate special requests. Since the cooking is done in view, it's easy to notice they have had the same cooks for years. This results in consistency, and indicates the owners must take good care of the staff. My only complaint is that they need another location - on the east side, please!

Pasta Pronto is coming close to being the Italian version of Muchas Gracias, moving from location to location seemingly for no reason. They moved here over six months ago by Barnes and Noble, heading east on Evergreen almost to Chicago Pizza. I've always liked this place and am I am in their corner. That said, I'm capricious as hell and would kick them to the curb if I got a bad meal. I came for a late lunch, mad at much and looking for comfort food. Roasted Garlic with Caramelized Butter & Olive Oil? Wads of bread? Yes, yes... Like quite a bit of Italian food; it's not complicated nor a long list of ingredients to make any meal. This is where I pause. Was it flawless? Oh hell no. "Caramelized butter" sounds like brown butter to me--slowly, slowly cooked butter over a very low fire until a light caramel color. Is this what I received? Snort, no. I didn't expect it. Caramelized garlic? Ah, yes, this I got. So. Buttered noodles with roasted garlic. And this it was. I could snivel that the parmesan isn't the finest... I love Italian and pick this apart like an overpriced pile of pasta at whoever you cared to name. But we are talking about a less-than-eight-dollar lunch. It was lovely. I left happy. Watch the specials. Like usual, I forget to look; they are good deals. For the regulars that know PP from one of their other hermit crab absconded locations, not much has changed. They have picked up a new green Oregon shaped logo that for whatever they paid for this, they paid too much. They still are a Go To for To Go Dinners for Four, a much more important bit to me. Romantic? Not so much. Romance and food are two issues. Keep it straight folks. For those that have not tried dinner or lunch here: I'd look at this like Pastini, another Italiojoint I like. Good solid Italian food under the price of Olive Garden and the like and quite a bit better.

Met up with an old friend, with this restaurant as the backdrop. ***CHICKEN, PEAR, & HAZELNUT PASTA - Grilled chicken breast, fresh pears, and toasted Oregon hazelnuts tossed in a gorgonzola cream sauce with cavatappi pasta This was actually quite interesting. The sauce was very sweet and tasted almost like a warm ice cream mix, but a bit tangier with the gorgonzola--somehow it worked with the macaroni-esque cavatappi pasta. The pear slices were quite satisfactory, the hazelnuts a good addition but not quite crispy enough, and the chicken was the biggest caveat, for it was served in small, dry, lifeless chunks that tasted like they belonged in a TV dinner. ***SPINACH SALAD - Fresh baby spinach, feta cheese, mushrooms, bacon, sliced eggs, red onions, pine nuts, tossed in a red wine and dijon dressing There was really nothing special about the salad--we only chose it because it was the least of the evils on the page. It had the ingredients mentioned in the description, but did not satisfy our souls. ALL IN ALL: I probably wouldn't have sought out this establishment on my own, but it really wasn't half bad.

I called to place a take out order and was put on hold. After 8 minutes I hung up and called back. I was told they were busy and they couldn't help me but they apologized and said they would be with me shortly. After 2min they hung up on me. I won't be back anytime soon. I realize it can get busy however, management needs to properly staff for a sat night. I called next door to thai orchid and had someone take my order and it was ready in less than 10 min. Less than I waited for someone to speak to me.

Good, solid comfort food here. The bolognese sauce is very good; the browned butter and garlic is also quite good but be sure you like garlic (as I do) -- the sweetness of roasted garlic marries well with the rich brown butter. Plan a nap for after. Pluses: quick, friendly service, and the warm homemade bread. It's really delicious dipped in olive oil with a little salt and black pepper. Prices seem reasonable to me; a nice size plate of pasta (comes with bread) ran me $8.99 today. Opportunities: there are 2 flat screens as you walk in with the "grab and go" menu and the daily specials. You then order at the counter next to them. The regular menu is not posted anywhere --- it's on the counter, in front of the cash register. So only the person actually ordering can see it. [Note, paper copies are available on the counter, so you can take one to read as you wait or sit down and go over it.] Posting the regular menu or putting it on one of the flat screens would be most helpful. Also -- there is a half wall separating the kitchen from seating -- over which you can clearly see the microwave with helpful notes posted on it about the microwave cooking time of various dishes. Look, I know part of the fast service is probably because a microwave is sometimes involved, and I'm okay with that (in a limited capacity) -- but having it so visible kind of reinforces that point and it's probably not putting your best foot forward. Maybe make it a little less visible or at least keep the sign below sight lines.

I'm going to start off by saying the food is delicious. Now the employees... Not very friendly and had an annoyed kind of look and I understand. If I was on my lunch break I would not want to be getting up for every customer that walks in. The girl/lady was eating and then just wiped her mouth (NO HANDWASHING WHEN SHE WALKED IN THE KITCHEN) and took my order. She then walked back out and gave me some bread. She continued eating until the next customer came in and the process was repeated. Now this didn't change the flavor of the food but I do no want to be served by someone who is eating and not washing their hands. Also there were dirty plates on the outside seating when I walked in and they were still there after I finished eating and slaked out. This place needs to be cleaned up, literally.

Brand new, clean, a little bright - reminds us of a sandwich or yogurt shop. Food is just as good as before, but I really miss the ambience the old place had. New place really feels too 'fast foody' and sterile. It's kindof hard to come here for a nice dinner, because it has totally lost its restaurant appeal.

Their creamy pesto is the way to go! I've never had a bad experience. They've switched locations a few times now, but it still tastes the same everytime.

I simply cannot find better pasta for this price. New location, same great food, same friendly service! The only complaint is the decor, as it is a little too "sterile." This does showcase the cleanliness of the restaurant, but detracts a bit from the charm of the last location.

I'm a big fan of cheap pasta.....it reminds me of my childhood when I would go to visit my aunt in Tallahassee, we would go to Fazoli's near her for lunch several times during my visit (it was cheap, and so was she). I haven seen a pasta fast food joint since then (being from Jersey, pasta is in the water)....which is why I was so excited when I saw Pasta Pronto(!). Sadly, this didn't live up to my low expectations, which I know sounds confusing b/c then I should be giving this place an extra star or two....but it wasn't good in a cheap way either. It was mediocre in an expensive way. After scanning the menu, everything seemed a bit more posh than expected. Okay. So I ordered a smoked salmon with dill and capers. I paid my $13ish dollars (for lunch) and the friendly gal behind the register handed me my number and I picked a seat in a very clean/sterile dining area. She shortly brought out my salad and bread. Salad was with iceberg lettuce. Bread was doughy...but it was free so what do I care. Then my dish came out. First take was that it smelled good. Then after taking it in, I noticed that there was so much sauce, it looked like soup (and it was not thick). First bite was the salmon, okay. It was smokey. But pairing that with the sauce, and my legs started to swell up with all the sodium. I could see that there were dill pieces, but couldn't taste them over the salt lick. I would maybe go back. It was overpriced (I get it was a salmon dish....but it was lunch and it was mostly sauce, not much pasta/fish). There was another couple sitting eating what seemed to be lasagna. There is a veggie one on the menu, maybe it is worth giving it a shot.

As a long time visitor of the old pasta Pronto I must say I was extremely disappointed on my visit this time. I ordered the salmon with bow tie and it was probably the saltiest dish I have ever eaten. When we told them they said it's because of the salmon and they hadn't added any additional salt. I've had salmon pasta at other locations. This is NOT what it tastes like. My son's plain pasta was OK but that's like saying a boiled egg was ok. But the seventh heaven tasted old and nowhere near my memory of it. It will take a miracle to get me back in here.

I used to live on that side of town and we would frequent the prior location all the time. Once the owner was closing and saw us pull up - we were just in the area and thought they would still be open. They INSISTED on feeding us even though we were trying to drive away - it seriously was no big deal. They were so beyond nice every time we went in. Their food is unique and they make everything from scratch for great prices too. I always get the alfredo which is killer and their bread is amazing. We ordered dinner from Delivery Dish and sure enough - it was just as great as I remember.

I recently visited this new location and ordered my usual, spicy sausage sauce over linguine with an Italian sausage on the side to-go. The pasta did not taste fresh, it was overcooked and slimy. The Italian sausage was extremely overcooked, dry and tough. A thorough disappointment. I've happily patronized Pasta Pronto for 10 years. It's with a heavy heart that I am compelled to leave a 2 star review. My previous review on 8/14/2011 for their former location at 2515 NW Town Center Drive was 5 stars. I know how to make fresh pasta, see my photos at: cheesesteak.yelp.com Perhaps I'll give them another shot someday, but for now the 2 stars stand.

Let me just say I had very low expectations for this place. I was on the way home from the airport, after an exhausting trip to Vegas. The only Italian place I could find was Pasta Pronto. I ordered over the phone to go, and my food was ready 10 minutes later when I arrived. To my surprise, it was delicious!! Flavorful and perfectly seasoned Alfredo sauce, perfect portions and a hearty helping of the smoked salmon I asked for. I also decided on a piece of raspberry poppyseed cake which was amazing! You aren't going to get authentic Italian food here, but for a place that hangs its hat on quick food- Pasta Pronto has achieved just that and high quality, which isn't easy. I will definitely come back here!

Absolutely amazing! I ordered fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken & my friend ordered the jambalaya pasta. Which was also amazing. It's a little pricy, but for good food I'll pay the price. You also get bread with your order too.

This is the best pasta ever. I came here to this restaurant and I asked the chef to make me pasta I ate it before in Rome and Sicily and he made it the same even better I have been eating in this restraunt for 4 weeks and the food was really delicious so I gave him a challenge and he was the best just ask for Alex

I took off one star as it is priced like any other Italian place yet the ambience is like a fast fod joint! But, the food was good and great presentation. My husband loved his penne with spicy pesto and my porcini ravioli was great too! Do a to go is my recommendation to avoid sitting there and yet enjoying good Italian food.

They do not have a lunch menu so you'll end up eating too much or with leftovers because the portions are quite large. I really like the bread they use for their sandwiches. Both the Parmesan Chicken and Meatball sandwiches were very flavorful and tasty! One quirk of the restaurant layout is that the pop machine is right next to the bathrooms in the very back. Also, the tables are a little on the small side. Between the bread, salad, and meal plates we ran out of room for three of us at a four top table. You do order at the counter but they bring your food and clean up the table. I like places that have a post-ordering waiter service experience.

This is our "go-to" place for Italian dining. The food is fantastic, the prices are good, and the service is always top notch. I've been here dozens of times, and never had a bad experience. The pasta with meatballs and pomadoro sauce is particularly delicious! :-)

This place was too expensive with nothing that really made up for it. It was our first (and last) visit. We all tried each other's pastas, but nothing was really that great: Maltadine, Chicken Marsala, and Pasta Fresca. The new location was clean, and the service was prompt and friendly.

This is everything you'd expect from a fast pasta restaurant. Pasta is of course not al dente by any means but it gets the job done if that's what you want. I ordered their original lasagna and it was ok, not too bland but not the best at all. If your in a pinch for pasta check it out but don't expect restaurant quality pasta.
(3)
Harvey B.
Well, they USED to be great. Since they moved in to the new location, which is VERY sterile looking and has lost all of it's ambience, it seems that the quality & service has declined as well. We probably won't go back. Also, every time the front door opens you get a blast of cold air.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pasta Pronto has moved to a new location near Thai Orchid. The place looks little better compared to the older location and looks more roomier. The food still tastes pretty good and the kitchen staff is the same as before.

Well, they USED to be great. Since they moved in to the new location, which is VERY sterile looking and has lost all of it's ambience, it seems that the quality & service has declined as well. We probably won't go back. Also, every time the front door opens you get a blast of cold air.
