Have been to other Mio Sushi's in Portland and been pleased with results, if not gourmet. Tonight I ordered vegy and shrimp tempura (for $13) plus an appetizer. The breading was way too thick and there wasn't much on the plate. When I removed the super-greasy breading from the shrimp, there was hardy any there! I mentioned to the owner that it was disappointing. She took off the $5 appetizer, but I still went home hungry and sick from the tempura. Oh, and yes everything was slow, very slow. Nice setting; terrible food and service.

I'm on a sushi kick and it's Mio. If you have been to their other locations in, you are in for the same ride. Good quality sushi at a price. Not as pricey as others in town, but I can point out a few other places that are as good without the tag. The service was alright, but nothing outstanding on this visit to make me bump it up a star.

The staff here is seriously so nice and knowledgeable about allergies in their menu items. The sushi is fresh and the rolls are unique and delicious! I wanted to wait till I went in a few times to really form an opinion and consistently they have been wonderful

I tend to be the odd one out when invited to sushi dinner. I have to be in the mood to eat sushi, so my first visit to Mio I tried the Miso soup and Spicy Chicken Yakisoba. A surprisingly tasty alternative, washed down with a cold Asahi. Am I the only one who would rather not embarrass myself attempting to use chopsticks? I find I'm more successful with those sticks when securing a bun in my hair. Nibble on, you talented sushi kittens. Meow sushi. (^_^)

To be honest we didn't have a chance to eat but after we made 30 minutes trip to try their food we were one minute late and their sign was (open ) they refuse to serve us in very bad manner , I don't care how much the food is good . Lack of hospitality will spoil everything .. Definitely I am not coming back again

This place is awesome. I go here all the time and get fast service and equally awesome sushi.

This place is great! First Mio sushi I've been too and I'm in love. I've been here twice- first at lunch right when they opened and second during a busy dinner rush. Both times service was quick, friendly, and knowledgable. The sushi is made to order, and comes beautifully displayed. Not to mention delicious! My boyfriend especially enjoyed the large variety of eel rolls. We already have plans to come back for more. Great job mio, this location rocks!

Love this place. I moved here from San Diego and for some reason everyone is Portland thinks that conveyer belt sushi is the way to go... not for me! Sit down, outside and inside. Great sushi options. I love the Camas Roll. The fish always tastes fresh and they have hot dishes as well. Their take out service is super fast too!

We LOVE Mio Sushi! The rolls are epic & there is something for everyone here! The happy hour has many of our favorites like Yellowtail Jalapeño and Kirin lager! The staff is friendly and helpful, the sushi chef is an artistic master! Just yum yum yummy!!!

Oh boy! This place has pretty great sushi! Everything was tasty and pretty fresh! I had driven by it so many times and decided to finally go in and I'm sure glad I did! Worth a try!

I give this place 3.5 stars. I've been coming here regularly for the last 2 yrs. I've eaten their ramen, bento boxes, champon noodles, and some of the sushi rolls. but now, I only come here for their spicy chirashi or unagi don with a tamago nigiri. Everything else is just alright.

I love sushi and seriously Mio has good Sushi. Service at most locations is also good to very good, but this location, which is close to my house, is just so slow. My rating has nothing to do with the food, because the food is really good (the reason for the 3 stars), but because of the service. The wait to have your order taken has never been a reasonable amount of time, even when there is nearly no people in the restaurant. They are just slow. We only go here when we are mentally prepared for this level of service and speed. We visit this location less an less, which is sad to me because it is so close to home. I really hope it gets better!

Wow. Glad I stopped going here. It's not the quality of the food that irks me (well, irk is a nice word for it I suppose) it's the lack of service or just plain lazy service. I just can't say enough about how poorly our most recent dinner experience went and it just was a shame, because it mostly wasn't about the food. About 12 years ago I lived near the Mio down on Hawthorne and I loved it. I've gone to the Mio on Division (near Hollywood) the downtown Mio and a couple of the other locations. Simple, healthy food, great sushi and great non sushi dishes. The service may have been quick and somewhat prompt, but always with a smile and some hustle. I used to go to this location frequently about 7 years ago and and I gradually stopped coming. I wondered to myself as we parked to go in, why did I stop? I loved their miso & salad & enjoyed their salmon and tofu dishes and of course, the sushi. Huh, what happened? My experience the other day reminded me of exactly why I kept away - lackadaisical service, Slackadaisical is more like it. Server took forever to acknowledge us (3 or 4 servers, about 15 dinner guests in the place) longer to get menus, only got 1 menu, had to ask for another menu, finally placed order for beverages and apps (took forever for tea?), we got our miso and salad (still yummy) and waited. Sushi arrived, quite nice and tasty, then waited for our other appetizer (that she had forgotten when she forgot our order for the first time and came and asked again) the veggie tempura which never arrived in the ensuing baloney. We initially notified server that husband has severe allergy to seeds/nuts and we wanted to make sure they didn't put sesame seeds on anything (or to let u know if we should just avoid a dish). . And waited. Then, server arrives with my salmon (we both had same thing) and notifies me that they messed up and made hubby's with seeds, so they had to refire. That's okay. At first. I am a slow eater. I eat so slowly in micro bites trying to enjoy my miso Salmon and rice as slow as I can. Still no salmon dish without seeds. Many other diners get food, we wait. Servers chat and laugh and watch tv. Eventually, our lazy server asks if I need a fork (because I am eating slowly and apparently the issue in her mind is that I can't use chopsticks!! - wtf) I finish the last bites of my now cold dish. Husband's arrives. He eats. Now I wait. No refill on tea. He finished. We pay and don't even notice they charged us for the missing tempura. We ended up having a nice date, but we won't be willingly giving our time and money for service like this.

In addition to their spot adjacent to the Beaverton Central MAX station, I have been to the locations on 23rd, Hawthorne, and 185th. I really have not been disappointed by any of them. I do want to clarify though that I would have only given them three stars however, the fact that this location is just steps away from the MAX earns them a fourth star. I do wish I could deduct half a star because my water glass tends to go empty well before the sushi is gone and it usually stays that way until the check arrives. Again, the sushi is good, the fish tastes fresh, the rice has been spot on every time I have ever been to a Mio, and the prices are reasonable. They even started a happy hour menu a little less than two years ago. In addition to the sushi, I have also enjoyed the zarusoba. I go weak in the knees and get tingly in all my special places when presented with a half way decent dish of noodles, hot or cold, in broth or not. Definitely try it if your a noodle fan. If you are a hungry bear you may want to supplement the zarusoba with a sushi roll. Goes well with an ice cold Sapporo. To recap, good sushi, and great location off the MAX line. If the sushi just spanked me a little harder the way I like it, this could have been a solid four star review. A hui hou! P.S. Outdoor seating is nice during our three weeks of summer and there's a nice spot for the kids to run around like crazies.

  • Gabby K.

The nigiri was just okay, but the fish tasted fresh and the rolls were fantastic! Get the Volcano Roll. On the menu, it says that it is spicy, but it really isn't. They had outdoor seating and that was really nice too.

I rarely eat the specialty rolls. So I have no opinions in regards to that. But I do love their spicy chirashi bowl and agedashi tofu appetizer. plus, it's really affordable during the lunch hours. They also have great specials during the happy hours.

I went to this Mio sushi about 9 months ago and brought my family, my best friend from Vegas and her son since we all felt like Japanese food. Well, from what I heard from my Husband and best friend the sushi was good, but here's the thing, all 4 kids and I don't eat sushi and after waiting 30 minutes since placing our order we asked the server if our food is coming and she say's, "oh, sorry I forgot"..... and what makes it even worse was that she comes back saying the kitchen is already closed.... really? So, all the kids and I are starving and ended up going to Burger King. I am adding an extra star for giving the kids rice with teri sauce and free Mochi ice cream. It's too bad because my husband really like the sushi there.

headed here the other night to satisfy a sushi, miso soup and cucumber salad craving and was not disappointed! everything just tastes fresh and delicious while still being pretty reasonable (helped that nothing I ordered was over $4.50 too). my husband, not in the mood for sushi, ordered the spicy beef yakisoba which was pretty good too. the service, though a bit slow at times, was also good. the friendliness of the service made up for the lack of speed at times. I've been to other mio locations, and this is by far my favorite!

Amazing sushi and all at reasonable cost. The miso soup is on point. I love the rolls they have to offer. I do wish they had fresh rolls like sushi hana but still yum yum yum every time!

Been here twice. The first time, it was basically empty - only one other table. I came by myself because I wanted a relaxing dinner to read a book & just be alone after a crappy day at work. So I wasn't in the biggest of hurries. I had to get up to ask for a menu. Same thing with water. Had to flag them down when I was ready to order & the same thing when I needed refills on my water. The food I thought was excellent & because of that I overlooked how shitty the service was. Since the food was delicious, I decided to give it another try. This time there were 6 of us. The restaurant was a little bit busier but not packed by any means. They gave us 3 menus total. I had to get up to ask for waters for all of us. Then after we'd been sitting there for 20 minutes with our menus down while 4 waitresses literally stood in a circle chatting, I finally got up AGAIN to tell them we were ready to order. Our food came out in shifts. Not short normal shifts... Like 15 minutes between my friends bento & yakisoba order & the sushi orders. Then literally crickets... No service whatsoever once our food was delivered. Luckily there was a service cart sitting behind us that had a bunch of supplies on it (water pitcher, napkins, chopsticks, forks etc) that we helped ourselves to since the service was ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS. Then to top off the shittiest service ever, when we got our checks, they had added in a 20% gratuity. I went up to the counter & asked to see a menu... Which they wouldn't give to me. Then I saw my "server" & I told her that I needed to see a menu because of the gratuity included. She said "it's house policy" about 5 times & refused to show me a menu. I told her that if she couldn't prove that it was written on their menu that gratuity was included it was illegal for them to charge gratuity. She got really defensive buuut in the end they took it off. I was thinking they gave us such shitty service because they knew they'd be getting 20% tips either way, but after seeing these other reviews on here, I think they just have TERRIBLE service in general. The food is delicious though so I would still go back, but never with a group bigger than 5 & I would try to come on days when it's not as busy - or just hit up their happy hour because their prices are pretty high.

This is her only sushi place I've been to while visiting Oregon and I like it. I ordered the ,a go dragon, banzai, and something else as well as three types of ramen. It definitely hits the spot though the rolls could be more flavorful, some of the rolls were a little bland. Customer service is great, they are very attentive and quick to get your food and drinks. I would visit again and maybe try different rolls.

This place is soooooo slow. I have been here twice and each time we waited over 45 minutes. I recommend getting it to go since every order before us was a to go order and no one in the restaurant had their food.

Mio Sushi makes good bento combinations for lunch. I usually get the spicy chicken as it is saucy and flavorful. I wouldn't come here for the sushi though. The times I've had their sushi, the rice seemed overcooked and the rolls were soft and usually fell apart. I tried the spicy beef ramen the other day and it didn't leave any kind of impression. Meh.

I'd heard it, but sometimes you need to have the experience to believe it. AWFUL service & great sushi. Get their takeout if you want to keep a high opinion of them. It's worth noting that the Pearl location on Hoyt is drastically different, service-wise. Everyone said hello & goodbye. I think every employee had some type of contact with me during my short "dining alone" lunch trip.

3.5 stars It's so hard to find a decent sushi place here in beaverton. I went during happy hour (they've got a pretty good selection of items for HH) and really enjoyed the not-too-busy ambiance. One of their rolls I tried wasn't what I thought it would be. Maybe I misread the description, but I definitely did not expect that sweet chili sauce on top. That wasn't a great roll. Their spicy tuna is good but nothing too crazy. Someone had mentioned in their review that the proportion of fish to rice was just right, however, I definitely got waaay too much rice and very little fish. I tried their salmon and garlic and onion nigiri, but that was a little disappointing (read: garlic powder and green onions sprinkled on the salmon, the description on the menu did not sound like that). Service was pretty good, though, despite their average-tasting sushi.

The location isn't bad and the interior is nice in a slightly overly-modern kind of way. I like that the sushi menu is a big laminated front-and-back page and that all you do to order is mark the number of each type of roll with a dry erase marker. The presentation of the sushi was pretty good (took a picture of my dragon and spicy tuna rolls) ...aaaaand that is where the enjoyment stopped. I always try new sushi without wasabi or soy sauce so I know what I'm getting into. Ideally, I'll end up using a little wasabi on each bite and no soy sauce. I was disheartened to discover that both the dragon roll and the spicy tuna roll were stunningly flavorless. I don't mean the flavor was mild or bad, I mean it was GONE. I tried some wasabi on the spicy tuna roll to see if I could at least enjoy feeling my taste buds try to escape a 2nd degree chemical burn - and I suppose this shouldn't be surprising, but the wasabi was NOT HOT. I'm not making this up... after a few attempts at putting more and more wasabi on each bite to feel something, I scooped up what remained of the wasabi I was given and ate it straight. I felt the FAINTEST tickle of what might be considered slightly less spicy than a cucumber. I didn't even bother asking for more. Furthermore, the spicy tuna appeared to have gone through a blender before finding its way into my roll. It looked and felt like I would expect tuna paste to look and feel like. Ultimately, I downed the rest of the rolls by making generous use of soy sauce. Very sad indeed. And it took me about 10 minutes to realize this, but the music that was playing in the restaurant was Monster by Bigbang set to repeat over and over. I ended up being there for 20 minutes or so and confirmed that as soon as it ended, it started up again. I only know the song and artist names because I was able to type the only english lyrics I could pick out from the music that had been burned into my brain: "I love you, baby I'm not a monster".

Love this place for fresh, rolled sushi. Prices have gone up since we first started going there years ago (what hasn't) but it's worth it. Mio is a staple for us of places to eat in Beaverton. Family favorite is the mio and aloha roll.

Food was so fresh I was wondering if they had large fish tanks in the back. Service was a little on the slow side but it was packed that day. Would definitely return.

This location has gone way downhill. It's unfortunate because it used to be really great, and their waiting staff is usually pleasant. Their sushi bar gets backed up due to disorganization at times, and once took over an hour to bring out sushi for four people when the restaurant was not that crowded. They forget to put advertised ingredients in kitchen dishes (i.e. they leave out some of the vegetables from the udon soup that should be in there according to the menu). They under season their sushi rice so that it tastes exactly like regular rice. The sushi ingredients are not always fresh. We were brought a roll with brown, oxidized avocado (pictured) and were not offered to have it removed from our bill. They did take a very small percentage off the total bill, but this amounted to about half the cost of the roll.

  • Mandana S.

I wish they had better ventilation. Honestly, my biggest issue with this place is the smell of the fryer and fish that get me every time I walk in. The sushi is alright. It isn't the best in town but it makes for a quick and decent lunch and is priced fairly well. The service is always warm, friendly, and efficient. Between the three restaurants at The Round, this is the one I frequent the most and would recommend to those in the area.

It was ok. We were the only ones there. Always a bad feeling to be the only person eating at a sushi joint. You tend to Question the fish freshness. Super quick and good service. The rolls okay. Fish wasn't the best but Good flavors. I'd eat again. Great menu.

Good sushi at good prices. They have a fabulous patio and there are usually plenty of tables. Crack a Saporro open and enjoy the water fountain! Also, the staff while perfectly lovely used to be really bad about refills on water and soda, but they have vastly improved on this in our last few visits. Try the mio roll, spicy tuna, Mt. St. Helen, Mt. Ranier. Mio ramen, edamame, miso soup, cucumber salad...all good.

  • Matthew W.

I like Mio Sushi for lunch, as the service is quick (for a sushi joint), the food is consistent and above average and the prices are reasonable (again, for a sushi joint). I've been eating at Mio for years and the service has waxed and waned - sometimes excellent and sometimes abysmal. Currently, the service is attentive and friendly, and the food stays its consistent self. It's not the high caliber of Syun Izakaya and not the massive portions of Saburo's but Mio's sushi rolls and sashimi are fresh and tasty. Try the Sonny's Specials too, as they are baked goodness.

We ate here on Saturday evening. Always good food and we always do seem to luck out on timely, receptive, good service (unlike a few of the recent posts). We have eaten here many times and are 'fans' but will say that it does seem that this location seems to "skimp" on the help for servers. We'll be back though...

3.5 Had late lunch here today with a friend.Ate only toast until I got there, so I could eat TONS of fish. It was a plan, see. Arrival time 4pm, right when they opened. Watched several staff working on to go orders. Were only customers in the place for the first 45 minutes. The patio is wonderful, especially on a pretty day like today. Perfect veggie and shrimp tempura and delicious crisp cucumber salad. Yum. The sushi was delicious. Unagi nigiri, salmon nigiri, spicy salmon, crunch roll,Portland roll, and rainbow roll. OMG good and beautiful. I should have taken a picture, but it disappeared too fast. Soooo darn good. Did I mention, the sushi was good?;) Chopstick wars over the crunch roll and the rainbow roll, they were extra yummy.I'm pretty sure friend ate my share of the rainbow roll, it disappeared so fast, that couldn't have been me, could it? Service? well, pretty damn disinterested. Our designated server never did refill our water glass, another server took pity on us and brought us more after we'd already paid our bill and they'd cleared the table. I didn't feel welcome here like I do at the Mio on 185th. That one treats us like family, this one not so much.Too bad.Maybe being at the Round lends itself to being less personal, it's kind of an odd Beaverton duck, you know what I mean? So on rainy days, I will stick to that one, on sunny days, because of the patio and the doors that open up for fresh air, this one will do.

This local sushi chain is a regular stop because it has fair prices, good service and fresh fish. Mio buys its own seafood wholesale for its restaurants and it shows. While it's not the best sushi in town, it's the kind of place you go to when you can't afford the best sushi in town, nor the wait for it.

  • Andy B.

This place is a favorite for my co-workers. They're especially efficient with splitting checks in multiple ways for large groups and have the seating capacity, but call ahead just in case. While the sushi isn't anything special, it is of good, consistent quality. The double crunch and spicy salmon are favorites and everyone in our group loves them. They don't accept Discover. Food: 4 Service: 5 Ambiance: 4 Value: 3 TL;DR: Good sushi in the middle of Beaverton

Being a new sushi convert, I tend to stay with the 'safe' choices. California roll, anything with the word 'tempura' in it. Had a wonderful meal at Mio this evening. The service was slow, and she forgot several things, but she was very nice and personable so we loved her anyway. They were a little understaffed, and they gave the call-in orders priority. In all, we probably waited 30 minutes for our food. When the food arrived, it was pure heaven. Every bite I set down the sticks and thought to myself, 'damn this is good!'. We left out of there very full and satisfied. They're faking it a bit on the service side, but they are all pro when it comes to making killer sushi.

We love Mio's on 185th. The food is wonderful and the service is always fast and very friendly. The strip-mall atmosphere does leave a lot to be desired, so several times we've (6 at least) gone to the Mio's in the round and the service was incredibly slow, disinterested and bordering on rude. Last time was truly the last straw. My husband and I were seated and ignored for 10 minutes. Finally my husband tried to catch the eye of the waitress with a little waive. She stuck her index finger up (more "talk to the hand" than "just a second"), but finally, a few minutes later a different waitress finally arrived. The food arrived strangely out of sequence and with no explanation, and the service was just so lacking we left vowing that we will never visit that location again. Having worked in the restaurant industry, I'm usually pretty forgiving (I get it; they're really busy today. Maybe they're down a server, maybe they got an unexpected rush) but this happens every time we go to the Mio in the round. The 185th location is the exact opposite. Consistently wonderful, and Tony, the other servers and the sushi chefs are always friendly and kind. I wish they had the more desirable location; they truly deserve it! Not sure who is managing this location, but your service is abysmal. So poor that even tasty food and a beautiful location can't make up for it. We will not be back.

This Mio location is fantastic - I also eat at the 185th and Walker location and both are consistent with great food and service. I met up with a friend here a few days ago and was shocked to realize I had yet to leave a review here for this spot. Our waitress was great and even when the restaurant was technically closed the staff said nothing at all and served us with a smile to the point where we did not realize the restaurant was even closed until we left - that is great service! A few of my personal favorites at Mio are the double crunch roll, the sunset roll (which is hands down the best in Portland I have found and I eat sushi all over), and they have great Miso! They also have a pretty decent sake selection and my husband adores their yakisoba...especially the beef.

Went around happy hour. So did everyone else. The restaurant went from empty to pretty busy in about 20 minutes. Our server was not so great. Asked for iced green tea, got 2 warm cups of green tea and a little ice. It melted instantly, obviously, and that was it. She saw we needed more ice but never brought. it until we asked. She also saw we needed more water, but that never happened. The asian waitress was hustling to take care of her tables, and some that weren't hers. We were blessed with the ditsy american girl who seemed to be screwing up all her tables. I liked the laminated menu which you could write your order directly on with the dry erase marker they include.. It was helpful and better than the throw away paper ones some restaurants use. Plus you could easily change it up. We ordered 4 rolls, but only 3 came. It was plenty of food after 3 apps anyways and she didn't charge for it so no big deal. The Edamame was great. The Gyoza also was fresh and delicious. The food was presented nicely. Fresh Wasabi. Very! This location is part of a chain apparently, but it didn't feel like it. This one is at a new condo / retail / restaurants / train station type place. Not much in the place yet, but nice vibe. Clean. Modern. Outdoor seating. The pricing was average. Service below average. Food itself was all very good.

Finally got around to checking out Mio Sushi at The Round. It was pretty good for the sushi I ordered. We started with a combo seaweed salad and miso soup for my friend. Salad was pretty good, it had squid and shrimp with seaweed and pickled cucumbers. Was different that the normal seaweed salad you get. I liked this one better. We ordered spider, dragon, sister and 1 more other roll I cant remember. All of them were good and tasty. No complaints, would definitely order again. Yum! For both of us, we were pretty stuffed. We went on a weekend night and it wasn't busy at all and the service was just fine. I would recommend trying it out and see what you think but I liked it. Price was what I expected for us about $40 or so. Outdoor seating is available but they have roll up doors as windows, as I think that's what I saw. So it was quite comfortable inside as it seemed it would be outside. Happy eating!

The sushi was really good and I love that they have gluten free options. I happened to come here during a last Tuesday concert in the square just outside of the building. It was really fun to be able to sit in the restaurant with the doors open watching the concert. The atmosphere in the restaurant was good as well. Despite the concert they weren't that busy and I would've given them more stars, but it seemed the wait staff were preoccupied as they did not come back to the table often and had to be flagged down on a few occasions to find out where the rest of our order was. That being said, I would visit this restuarant again.

Teeters between 3 and 4 stars. I much prefer the Mio Sushi on 185th, but this one is closer to home, so we sometimes come here. Service is not consistent, but when it's good, it's great. We order the same stuff here as on 185th, but at this location I've experienced sushi that is not of the same quality, thus the lower rating. But it still has great miso soup, agedashi tofu, cucumber salad, nigiri (all varieties are good) and sonny's special #1 with baked salmon and spicy tuna for something out of the ordinary. Has promise, but I wish it were more consistently worth 4 stars and I'd visit more often. I'm being nice since I think it has promise.

I'm giving Mio 5 stars, because it deserves a better average. As far as american style sushi goes, this is the best place I've been to for the price. I hate rotating sushi, won't eat it. I AM PICKY when it comes to my sushi. I'm all about the quality of fish. Mio, has fresh fresh sashimi. My hamachi (yellowtail) is always amazing & the tuna is really good too. Their rolls have a lot of flavor. My favorites are the Banzai & Mt. St. Helen's. Although the sizes of rolls & sashimi are not very big, they are priced pretty decently, which makes it more affordable for families if you prefer nice fresh & beautifully displayed sushi. I also think the staff is wonderful. They are always so nice. Ive been in Mio when I was the only table in the place & when it has been at it's busiest. Great service, expected amount of time waiting for my food, & always satisfied. I must say I'm a fan.

Very tasty but they definitely want to get you sat, served and paid to post the next paying tab. Can you blame them? Of course not! But be aware the seating is not cozy to keep you for an enjoyable meal with great company and if you come in and they want to send the message that closing time is on approach they'll open the front door for a solid draft that'll get you right out. Only real dislike is that the way they post transactions will do the initial hold for the original amount and then the post-tip total will post the next day-whilst the hold remains until dropped off. Anyone who is either broke or keeps close tabs on their accounts won't be a fan of this, though I doubt it happens every time, it depends on their batching habits.

Pretty good sushi for a pretty good price! A step above the cheap sushi-go-rounds that are everywhere in Portland. Sometimes the service leaves a little to be desired, especially when it's slow and the waitresses get sidetracked by their conversations. Overall I enjoy going to Mio, just keep your expectations low with the prices!

I ordered a combo bento here with miso salmon and spicy chicken. The miso salmon was definitely the better of the two, but it wasn't by much. The salmon had a strange alcoholic flavor to it and the spicy chicken tasted like it was from panda express. I think it's made using their chicken teriyaki sauce but adding a little bit of pepper so it was an oddly spicy and sweet combo. I looked over at my friend's seafood yaki udon and found it rather unappealing. It looked nothing like the picture posted on their menu. The one redeeming item was the spicy salmon sushi pizza which was delicious!!

I don't know why it took me so long to try this place, since it's so close to my office I could throw a rock and hit it. The sushi is okay. Not the best I've ever had, but certainly not the worst. (The conveyor belt place down the road isn't as good, but the prices are way better--for the $1.25 a plate lunch deal, anyway.) The ambiance isn't anything special. It's pretty much your typical Japanese restaurant with sushi bar. I'll have to go back and try the menu items. I'm trying to come up with something snappy and zingy for this review, but it's just not working for me. Mio Sushi just isn't that exciting, I guess.

The front door faces the open area with a mini theater and fountain, where currently all the business faces are covered by construction stuff and "businesses still open" signs. But it's there. I don't know why, but everything about this location seems better than the others I've been to. The food is better, the servers have always been nice, and the bathroom has an unusual sliding door. If you like sushi, it's worth trying. If you like Mio Sushi but haven't been here, I'll recommend it unless it's way out of your way.

This Mio Sushi location has boosted my mood after a long day at work many times. Right off the MAX line at Beaverton Central, this locations is right on my way home from work. There's nothing like some yakisoba or ramen to cheer you up, and their vegetarian sushi options are great. The staff here is always friendly, and you are often greeted by all the sushi chefs. This place definitely does the job of upping my morale!

Thumbs up for the sashimi entree. The unagi bowl was pretty skimp for high price. I would not be returning here because of the poor service. When my daughter and I arrived, the 4 waitresses did not acknowledge us. It took 15 minutes to get seated for dinner. I saw plenty of open tables, but they were not cleaned. We decided to sit inside, since it was a hot day. The doors in the back were open since they seated people outside, so all the air conditioning went out the door. When we were seated, the waitress gave us the dinner menus then ran off. For over 15 minutes, no waitresses returned to take our orders nor provide glasses of water and it was muggy. I observed a waitress addressing take-out orders. Then a second waitress came to check on take-out orders. A third waitress was running in and out of the restaurant to deliver dinner orders. The fourth waitress came to our table and apologized for the wait. She asked us what our drinks were, but never took our order. We put in our order and it took another half hour before the order came. When we were finished with dinner, no staff noticed and never gave us the bill. I had to flag the waitress for the check. Then, when I gave her the check, she was busy running around that she never returned with the final bill for signature. The waitress apologized again for the slow service. Between the time when we finished our meal and waited for our bill, there was a line forming out the front door. There were 4 to 5 tables that were empty but needed cleaning. All I noticed was these waitresses being disorganized and running in and out of the restaurant which was so inefficient. Customers were waiting and there was no service. I am usually a high tipper at 20 percent or more. I was reluctant to tip 15% with the poor service of being ignored the entire time. However, I have a daughter who works in the restaurant business and I have a soft spot for these ladies. Highly recommend take-out since they seem to take priority over dine-in customers.

Mio is your average sushi place. I will typically order salmon or tuna nigiri, shrimp tempura rolls, cucumber avocado rolls and some edamame. They have good prices compared to other "average" sushi places. I have never had a bad meal at Mio, but I don't ever have cravings for it either. The service can be a bit slow at times, but the guys behind the sushi bar are really nice as well as the "beverage technician" who keeps our green tea filled to the brim. (By the way, he told me he was a beverage technician....I did not make that up).

It was early on Thursday afternoon when we finished our Halloween costume shopping & found ourselves in the area of the Beaverton Mall; did I mention we were hungry? With no food in the fridge she suggested stopping by the store for food to make at home, but this meant a good hour before we had food in our tummys & we were tired. I voted for going out as I had just received a check from my mortgage company for overpayment of some-thing-or-other. I followed her a short distance from the costume store parking lot & we landed at Mio Sushi. The 3 of us arrived, little one in tow, shortly after 4. No we're not old! We're just hungry & it's early. I had never been nor heard of Mio Sushi & assumed it was a single mom & pop operation until we sat down & I noticed a list of locations on the wall from Eugene (coming soon according to the poster) to Bend to Portland. Our waitress has already delivered our menus to the table by the time I had washed up. (The costume store isn't exactly Goodwill, but I sure wanted to wash before I touched anything at the table...ok, I normally do that.) Now, I may have missed our waitress explaining how things work there but I doubt it, because she didn't know where the sushi was either. Let me explain; we were looking at the menus & couldn't find sushi. We saw lots of other things, but no sushi. It turns out there are sheets of paper for us to fill out next to the soy sauce. Sounds simple, but it took us a minute to figure it out. The first things to arrive were our drinks: one diet and two strawberry lemonades. The lemonade was ok, but nothing to write home about (just Yelp, it seems). When the sushi arrived the presentation was very nice on large white plates. This was also part of the problem, the table with 4 chairs could not accommodate the 3 drinks (plus 2 waters), the 3 plates of sushi and a small plate of edamame very well & we had to jockey things around a bit. The plates were simply too big for the table & gave it cramped feeling. The presentation was so nice when the sushi hit my mouth it tasted good, however after a moment I realized it wasn't that good. Better than Safeway's deli or Sushi Hanna, but pretty tasteless. The Albacore, which she was really looking forward to, was very mediocre. If it had been just the unagi avocado roll, the spicy tuna (which wasn't spicy) or just the spider, I'd write it off. But it was everything served which was tasteless. Mio Sushi is located right next to one of the Maxx line's stops, however there is a rock garden that partly blocks the Maxx, so even with my direct view of the stop it didn't detract & it is close to Beaverton Hillsdale Ave. With a number of them around the area, they must be doing something correctly...I'm not sure what other than the waitress who was pleasant, refilled our water & brought us extra napkins without us even asking. So, while I want to give Mio Sushi a 2.5, Yelp doesn't have that option. I'll give them 3 stars & if we every go back I'll adjust up or down. Side Note: Google Maps indicates Mio Sushi is a bit East of where it actually is. It is located just West of that location on Crescent (as the address indicates). Yelp's map is off even more for this location...by a looooong ways.

Well, there is nothing wrong with the place. The fish was good and the service was fine. I'm just not really bursting at the seams to come back. The place was a bit crowded (a good thing), but it was a bit.. snug. I'm not fond of my arm or chair being bumped or slid along by people passing behind me.

I went here with a friend last night. Enjoyed...my sushi, especially the spicy salmon rolls. I always enjoy the sushi at Mio, no matter the locaiton. Disliked...the service. We walked in a little after 9 - they close at 10 - and were told we couldn't sit outside, because it was too late. However, there were at 4 tables of people out there. We were then rushed to order and no sooner than we got out food, did the waitress rush over with the bill. When we didn't immediately sign, she came back and "reminded" us. I understand wanting to close up, and had we been there closer to 11 when we finished, instead of 10:10 I would have understood. I felt rushed and annoyed and will probably not go back to Mio, any of them, for awhile. If you don't want people to come in after 9, then say you close at 9, not 10. Puh-lease.

Gross. Worst sushi I've had in Portland, everything tasted very fishy, which if you eat a lot of sushi should know is NOT a good thing!! Couldn't even finish my order, the fish was clearly not fresh and I would question the grade. I am confused as to why this place is rated so high... People must have low expectations, since sushi has gotten more trendy. That or I got the bottom of the barrel, back of the bar fish. Ick. Never.again.

I was really disappointed in my "Veggie Tofu" dish at the Beaverton Mio Sushi. The veggies were just like frozen Santiam mixed vegetables. Corn, peas, lima beans, little cubes of carrots, and small cut green beans. There were a few onion slices and some sliced green peppers, but the vast majority of the vegetables were the mixed vegetables.

I heart this place. great food great service excellent agedashi tofu!!! I may be slightly obsessed with agedashi tofu. I have had it in almost every Japanese restaurant. There are many restaurants I will not order it in and this is one place that I ALWAYS order it. I always go with a friend and we always order way too much sushi. I have never had a bad experience here and have always gotten the best service from the wait staff. They are indeed one of my fav places to go.

Lunch time was extremely slow. We had to get our food to go after waiting for 1 hr. The worst part was the beef yakiniku was cold and hard to chew and the spicy chicken was dry. Same experience with my coworkers that went with me. Disappointed after reading such a good review.

I always really want to like this place, but for some reason, it always just falls flat for me. I have a friend who lives nearby, and it's very convenient to walk over from her place, so I've been here several times. I feel like the sushi is just okay, and the other items that I've ordered, such as Teriyaki are always too saucy for me.

Of all the Mio Sushi restaurants, this one stands out by far. I particularly like the ambiance: high ceiling, big windows, and low key decorations that says modern but on a budget. Everything inside says budget, especially the food. You get a decent amount of food if you order the bentos. They come with a side of rice, small salad with ginger dressing, a side dish and main dish. And the price - unbelieveably cheap. The staff are always there, ready to serve. They do minimal service, come by to fill up your water glass, but that's about it. For me, that's good enough. I understand it's not five star and if they fill up my glass I'm content. I think it's hard to not like Mio Sushi regardless of which of them you go to, they're all good. This one happens to be a little above the others.

The sushi is mediocre. We ordered several rolls that were decent and had a Spider Crab roll that was overcooked. The ambiance of the place is on par with a crowded airport food court. It's loud and if you move too quickly you're likely to bump elbows with someone at a table next to you. The service was HORRIBLE! Not the kind of service were you think it might be better next time. We were seated then it took a long time to get someone to take our order. Items we requested when ordering were not brought. A separate server delivered our food and left quickly. Not once during our meal did anyone return to check on us, verify that our order was correct, or offer us additional beverages. In fact, I had to flag down someone just to get the ticket so we could leave. I'll never be back and would recommend just about any sushi place in the area over this one.

Ive come here for years but recently this place took a turn for the worst. They must be struggling for customers because their sushi is no longer fresh like it used to be. I used to really enjoy this place because of the location and prices, however I will no longer be coming back because of the decline in quality. For example their rice is now gummy and hard and the sashimi is not fresh and the rolls are disappointing.

One of my husband and I's favorite sushi place. The bento choices are on point and the sushi is good. The only thing about the place that I have to subtract a star for is that it is small. For take-out Japanese - the food is far better than most take-out Japanese - I can only imagine, at this point, that it is amazing in the restaurant. Affordable and close, the service was excellent (my order had just been sat on the counter when I arrived), staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. There is even outdoor seating available!

This is me and my husband's favorite sushi place, when we want to treat ourselves to real sushi. We've been to other good places in Portland and around the country but when we come here it just tastes so good and fresh! This will always be our favorite.

I love Mio Sushi. It is always a treat for me to come to Mio. I wish I can come more often. With one toddler and an infant, going out for dinner takes a lot of preparation and work. However, we tried to come to Mio whenever possible.

  • Scott M.

    (4)
  • Gabrielle A.
