Aww, I like Home Town! Well, I have a weakness for buffets anyway, but HTB is fun on so many levels. It is known in our house as the "White Trash Café" (As in "Let's go strap the feed bag on at the White Trash Café") The people watching, of course, is extraordinary and the food--well, the food, you need to know the "technique". Like all buffets, timing is key; you need to be here just as the wads of steaming food comes out but before the crowds get in the queue before you. Approach this buffet like a polite yet firm roller derby, weakness will get you punished. I can not emphasize enough that one should sample carefully before hauling a big o' plate of it to your table. Taste carefully. And speaking of which, be real careful about the chairs in this place. Big people sit in these and they are enthusiastic eaters, rockin' and rollin' as they eat. The booths are a safer place to dine. Tonight, they have this cowboy special happening: pork ribs, a pretty good steak--stop laughing at me, it's pretty good, no, I have no idea what part of the cow it came from and some questions just Should Not Be Asked. Should you need/want it, they have the most spectacular collection of condiments and sauces to augment/disguise your meal. The salad bar rocks pretty much, but like all buffets, the prepared salads should be approached carefully. I like the broccoli one, the orzo one was meh. I did not see the usual krab salad and that should be given to The Enemy, so maybe someone at the front office of HTB tried it and ordered it banished. I dunno. The diet white dressing--what is it? Some ranch thing? Whatever, it is good. So, Organic Bob eats here? Hell, yes! I come from White Trash and this is my people's food. This is soul food for the trailer park set. And you can do the buffet on a diet, you chucklehead! In fact, it's kind of cool because I can have a spoonful of something completely Wrong and enjoy it and then go back to the baked chicken, salads and Jell-O and finish up with a little cup of the non-fat yogurt that is really, really quite good. And still feel like I am part of the cast of a John Waters movie that always seems to be eating there when we do. Go. I won't tell a soul that I saw you there. Honest.

This is NOT what I've come to expect from HTB. The place "looks" fine, but it has very poor selection and although I didn't notice it last time, most of the food I've tried tastes TERRIBLE tonight. My wife tried making me feel better by getting cinnamon rolls but the manager said they didn't have any. Then he brought 2 to our table, but upon tasting then they were so dry they were nearly crunchy. Manager says they'll have better selection after a remodel that's coming up. However if they don't get better food, cooks & food management it wont help much! - Left Irritated. Good money for crappy food.

This place is OK for a Buffet Restaurant but when they reduced the breakfast prices they got rid of the only thing I went there for which was the Fried Chicken. Also when they reduced the prices the fresh fruit went away the only other thing I could/wanted to eat. Now I hear the beverages are not included anymore which makes no sense. On my list of "places I will never eat at again"
(2)Ben L.
The service and food is good, but I've seen people lick the ICEE machine have been staying away from it. My advice: use the soda machine!!!
(2)Ron T.
Uhm. You get what you pay for. Put it that way. It is not the best food nor the worst food. Service included. I don't have to account every bite I took but it was nevertheless, fun. With company ofcourse. The pot roast is commendable. So is the Italian sausage sauce of their spaghetti. The rest are mediocre or less than but as I've said, you get what you pay for. The meat section needs to be attended to. We could've tasted the steak had there been an attendant there as I will and will definitely not shy about taking a slab of them nice looking juicy steak. The cheesecake is not a cheesecake. If it is, it could've had atleast 20% of cream cheese in it. It is way to soft to my liking. A plus factor is I could be a kid again interchanging my ICEE. Blue Raspberry and Cola, you are my weakness. The salad bar is good with lots of condiments and bacon bits. Oh how I love anything with bacon. I must've gained 5 lbs but felt bad after. Oh well, I could always run the next day.

I must be the oddball on this one... I haven't been to this place in so many years, I don't even recall the last visit (5+ years) Anyhow, the food was good, everything looked clean and the service was great! Everyone was really friendly. I enjoyed the variety they had to offer. . . no complaints here

The food her is very un healthy, most buffet food is but this place will leave you with a rock in your gut feeling. All the meats are over cooked by the heat lamps, even when its busy and they add grease to some of the food for no good reason. The salmon was so dried out it was a joke. I tried about 12 different food items and did not find one that tasted good. The staff does great with keeping the table clean. The food is kept up so most items never get empty. The food lines were kept pretty clean but the soda area needed a deep clean very bad there was grime on the soda dispensers. The day I ate it was at about 75% occupancy. The only reason I gave this a one star is the very poor food quality if you eat greasy foods on a regular basis you may enjoy this, if you don't you will not enjoy it one bit. Bottom Line: Don't waste your money on this buffet, you will leave hungry or feeling like a sloth with a stomach full of processed low rate food and grease.

The quality of this restaurant has dropped to a all time low. There was a time when HTB was a decent place to eat but not anymore. The food is obviously frozen and not made fresh. I recommend another choice if you are considering eating at HTB.
(2)Sam H.
I feel guilty about giving this restaurant a 1 star rating. The food was pretty good for a buffet and the prices were very cheap, however the sanitation of the restaurant has soured me and I shall never go back. A few years back I was having a fairly good buffet dinner with my family when i get up to go get some food and notice a little girl sucking out of the soft serve ice cream machine. She seriously had her lips around the nozzle and had the lever pulled down. I had already had some soft serve so mind began to run overtime. I started to notice people sneezing on the food, people's sleeves dipping into some of the food and other unsanitary problems. The worst was that when I notified a waiter of the girl sucking out of the machine he blew me off. He said he would fix it and he did nothing about it. It's a shame that I'll never eat there again, because it was actually somewhat good.

Love the crispy chicken... However this location is not the cleanest i have been too but they sure do have the nicest staff of all that I have been too. I was also very excited to see that they had not only ham but also turkey fro dinner....Love me the turkey. They did make a strange change a while back, the drinks are no longer included in your meal price, I think that is a little odd myself.

I wasn't going to write a review, because I don't really like submitting "bad" reviews. But, this isn't a bad review per se. It is more a cautionary tale. I hadn't been to HTB in years. I wrinkled my nose at the thought of going, because I remember it being not very good, etc. Just the other day, I had a coupon and a wild hair up my rear, so my fella and I decided to go. It is just as I remembered it. You get what you pay for. It is cafeteria food, plain and simple. I will say that I got my moneys worth in eating mostly prime rib, steak and popcorn shrimp. Those weren't bad. The rest? Not so good. The service was wonderful, though. The busboy was incredibly nice (so much that I wonder why he works there. Surely that level of service could be better used elsewhere). So if you are on the fence and thinking about revisiting this old buffet, I will say it is just as you remebered it. No improvements. Even as a broke chick, I can find a better bargain with yummier food.
(2)Narongsak H.
Just another cheap buffet. It's busy in here. I feel I got my monies worth. Huge buffet fora decent price... Hard to beat that. But not a place to bring a date!!!
(2)Mirina Y.
When I first came here, it was a Saturday and I was not aware that Hometown buffet was such a culinary enjoyment,so I was expecting just some usual simple and boring dishes, like any other chain diner restaurants. But I was really surprised about the gourmet touch you find of all dishes, and the amazing variety of dishes, and about the quality and freshness of the food, and the professionalism and friendliness of the servers!! On Saturday here they have the best, tastiest, freshest ribs ever. Fresh fish too, and the steak is very tasty and tender as well, the pizza, is amazingly tasty, the fried chicken cooked to perfection, not too much and not too raw either, not talking about the great variety of the salad and veggies bar, and the desserts. My favorite entrees are the ribs, lean and tender and juicy, then the fried chicken, I am not a junk food crazy, but when i come here,, I have to have their fried chicken! My favorite veggie dish is the spinach with egg mousse, and my favorite dessert is the hot chocolate sundae with yogurt (fat-free) ice cream. I always leave a generous tip because the staff is so helpful, friendly!
(5)Don Z.
Manager at this location sucks. They do not know what they are doing. I can only imagine what goes on behind closed doors in the kitchen.
(1)Danika L.
First off, I come from a family of buffet seekers. You can be sure that regardless of the city, they will find a buffet. We came to Home Town Buffet after a long day of travel and shopping. Home Town buffet is from the same family of buffets as Old Country and a bunch others. Thus, going in, we knew the type and quality of food we'd be getting. That's probably key to a happy dining experience: keep your expectations in line with the context. This is a buffet chain in a suburb - completely different from the Vegas buffet experience. We showed up around 8, and they were still bringing out new food. My favourite was the St Louis style ribs, which were tasty and tender. They also had roast beef, which was also decent, even though it was medium to well done. Of the cooked foods I only had the ribs, roast beef, mashed potatoes, and corn, which were all good. The salad bar was also decent with the usual spring mix salad, spinach salad, and sliced veggies. I must've had 2-3 plates of salad alone. I'm not a big fan of their desserts, but then again, at buffets I always forget to save space for dessert anyhow. Service was fine. The manager was friendly and the busser was quick. The kids manning the buffet stations seemed quite young, but were friendly and kept the stations neat. So, overall Home Town Buffet met my expectations, and I'd probably return.

Your kidding me right? This place is a poor excuse for a restruant. Food quality sucks. You have kids running around sticking their hands on the food. Grown adults eating right out of the bins. Dirty floors. Dirty tables. Since they got slurpees in they can no longer include the drinks so you have to buy a $2.50 drink and if you don't and they catch you you will have to pay for a drink or be asked to leave. Guess what else happens? The cashier can face termination. Yep. You heard right. The cashier mentioned that to me last month when I was here so I wanted to throw that out there. Kind of a poor policy they have here sort of makes me not want to go here even if the food was great if they treat their employees like that.
(1)Matt B.
Dinner Steak is great, Lunch is good if you like salad and fruits and fried chicken. Breakfast is good if you have the stomach for such heavy food as syrup and bacon and pancakes, but theres always more salad. Employees are friendly. Overall great for the price. Some of the food is not to my liking but i always try a nibble first before loading up on my plate so im happy.

There's something about a buffet that appeals to the glutton in all of us. When you're super hungry probably nothing sounds better than an all you can eat buffet. Hometown Buffet is a chain that has successfully tapped into America's love of the buffet restaurant. If you go through a town and see a Hometown Buffet then you pretty much know what you're getting. This Beaverton location sits very prominently in a Hall Street strip mall. There's a large sign out front which is pretty hard to miss. The interior of the Beaverton Hometown Buffet is very clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and efficient. Staffers here do their best to keep the buffet tables clean and the children's fingers out of the food. Dinner charges are $10.49 for adults and about $5.99 for children. There's a nominal extra charge for endless fountain drinks. Felt these prices were fair for an all you can eat buffet dinner. In Las Vegas they put some of their best chefs on the buffet line. That is definitely not the case at Hometown Buffet. The food brought back memories of the high school cafeteria. Mass produced food by people who just plain don't care. Anything deep fried was way over breaded and dried out from sitting around too long. The iceberg lettuce and many of the vegetables were swimming in a pool of water. Not only was the swimming food unappealing but it was also messy to eat. We went through quite a few napkins at Hometown Buffet. The carving station consisted of ham, roast beef, and beef steak. One nice touch was that the carver basted the meat before placing it on your plate. This added flavor and kept the meat moist. Hope you like your beef rare because that's what we got at Hometown Buffet. The roast was tough and fatty. The ham was moist but nothing special. At the conclusion of my Hometown Buffet meal my belly was full but my taste buds were left starving. A large feast does not necessarily a good meal make. There's a balance needed between quantity and quality. Hometown Buffet can give you great quantity but unfortunately falls quite short in the quality department.

This restaurant offers fresh-tasting food. It appears that everything is made from scratch. I love their steak, their crispy fried chicken, their dinner rolls, their salad bar, their bread pudding, apple crisp, and peach cobbler. Their homemade chicken noodle soup is absolutely wonderful, too. The noise level can be pretty high sometimes, but I expect that when it's a family restaurant. We had only one visit which was not up-to-standard and that was one hour before closing. We were surprised how quiet it is at that time of day but, on the other hand, some of the food did not have the same fresh taste to which we're accustomed. I'd also like to add that every single person - hostess to servers to the folks working at the carving station are all responsive when spoken to. It is my take that the staff assume you're there to interact with your family or friends when you dine. But if you initiate friendly conversation, they're more than happy to meet you halfway. For many years, we used the Tigard HomeTown Buffet. We were very disappointed when it closed. We sincerely hope that this branch remains open.

It's been years since I last came here, Hometown Buffet has changed a lot. I guess the food was ok, it's a buffet, what do you expect. The grilled sirloin was overcooked, over-peppered and over-salted, it was perfect for me. On my second trip, the sirloin was done rare, much different than the well done I got before. They have ICEEs now and my nephews each got a glass. They ended up mixing the three flavors and they said it was pretty good. The staff was fast and friendly. They greet you with a smile and are constantly clearing your table. Service A+, Food C+.
(3)Dan R.
i have always liked the food here there are times it isnt that good but most of the time i am happy although the workers suck ass most of them look like they hate their job none of them ever have a smile
(3)Kyle B.
Pretty good place if you're more concerned about quantity, rather than quality. Lettuce seemed old. Hot food was okay, but not like mamma used to make. ;) Desserts are really good.
(3)Michael M.
There over priced the Chinese chicken was okay some parts were stale. The fried chicken was good but the roast had no flavor the dessert was okay. I would not return to this place it's not worth $14.99 without a drink it's $11.99. The mash potatoes was pasty it came from a box the peach cobbler was okay. To Pricy no quality

First time eating at hometown buffet. I Paid, sat down, and server immediately asks to see our receipt. Had to rummage through my wallet to find it. Not a good start. Food was mediocre. Everything looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for way too long.
(2)Deja A.
I usually come here when we get coupons in our mail. They have a great variety of food from bourbon chicken, ham, steak, tacos, salad, deserts plus much more. For the awesome stuff like ham, roast beef, steak, there is a person that'll cut it pieces. FYI : but you can get as much as you'd like. It's a huge buffet restaurant. There's booths and tables. Workers are pretty friendly..on Thursdays kids eat for 99¢. They go around passing balloons.
(4)Kory C.
Is it possible to give a zero star review? From the horrible food, to the questionable employees, the vomit on the floor in the bathroom, to the no forks available. Looked to me like the plates and silverware were on the dirty side as well. This place is a nightmare. Do not eat here you will probably get sick.
(1)Charlie C.
My friends love taking me to this place every time I get to Beaverton. And since my friends are seniors, we waited until 3pm and they got a discount. It is what you would expect: lots of food to gorge yourself on for a decent price. Lots of variety. I really like their vegetables and salads. And their dessert items aren't too bad either. I rolled out of there and didn't eat the rest of the day. It's easy to overdo it. I would recommend going on a weekday, not too busy. Very nice employees and great service.
(3)Patrick C.
My wife and I always enjoy eating at the Beaverton Hometown Buffet. Reasonably priced for seniors and families. Large selection of items in the salad bar. Hot entrees with some of my favorites include the meatloaf, fried chicken, broiled steak and chicken and dumplings. The selection of fresh vegetables has improved much to my wife's joy. Huge selection of desserts. Always pleasant staff. Very professional and courteous. I was a chef and restaurant owner for over 30 years and I appreciate the service, cleanliness and style of the Buffet. Thank you.

Gotta start it off by saying the parking lot was chalk full of r.v trailors and I had to walkin the dang scorcher of a summer mid-day sun for quite some time before I found my way to the trough but that just got my tummy growlin. Food: started with my "chef saled" but the oil and vin was sticky to the touch. I mean the whole thing was almost just sugar!!! +1 for the gormet olives tho. I guess the lettuce was pretty fresh. Went overbored with the sunflower seeds but thats my own fault. Next I got some tacos....kinda iffy... like fish sauces iffy. But realy not bad overall. Perfectly warmed fillings and crispy tomato and onion chunks and lettuce and salsa topped. #Mmmmm. Then onto some mixed plates,,the mash potatos are bland (and I don't do gravy) so I went back to the salsa from the taco bar! HTB buffet HACK!! Not bad but you have to carefully figure out what how works for -you- here to make it. The green beans were actually pretty cool. I love how you get some food I'd normally not eat but just get a taste! Kinda healthy when you think about it. Desert was basically Just a icecream cone filled up with some grapes and cantelope. It worked I guess. Probally wouldnt do again. Again My bad.... Service: yeah,, good times. Every one there seemed thrilled. A+ Ambience: you kinda feel like your at TGIFs. But in a good way. Was cleaned up here you can tell. Maybe louder music would help. Overall: Not to shabby....My friends parents brought me here love it! As a buff seeker I'm OKAY withit..but... Maybe should be $1 less? I kinda get it tho. Some of the patrons seamed to be getting there money worth. B^ )

Upon entering this seems like any other buffet. No fancy décor, no warm feeling, its a like animals lining up at the trough together. The greeting isn't particularly nice, "have you been here before?, what do you want to drink?, enjoy". They are of course very strategic in keeping the plates on the table with the bread and very runny mashed potatoes. The part of this business that really lacks is the food. I know what I am getting into when I go into a buffet, cheap, not a lot of flavor, small drink cup, lots of bread, an abundance of cheap food in bulk, any meat is put out in very limited quantities and desert is soft serve vanilla ice cream which consists mostly of ice and sugar with some completely flavorless apple pie or hard cookies. I would say that the main problem at a buffet is overeating (trying to get the most bang for your buck) Merica, however this restaurant seems to have solved this very problem for you by literally watering down everything they can and eliminating any flavor and/or interest in returning for another plate of flavorless goop. The price was ok for a lunch buffet at $8.99 but I can assure you that there is another buffet in the same complex that will leave you full and happy. Go here is you dare but don't say that I wasn't here to warn you!
(1)Devin D.
If you're craving food that tastes like cardboard, then you have found the perfect spot. I can understand that buffet food isn't all about the quality... But if you and your significant other can only tolerate the Ice Cream machine, then that's a red flag right there. I would recommend spending your money at another buffet. Once you leave (that other place) with satisfied, filled stomaches... Think back to this review, and be glad you were able to avoid a bad buffet experience!
(1)Robert G.
Some days are meant for HomeTown Buffet, aka HTB. I happened to be in the Cedar Hills area of Beaverton and, gosh darn, I had one of "them there" coupons. I don't love HTB, but I like it. And, if you want a lot to choose from and be assured that you will leave with your stomach full, then it's not a bad proposition. In any given month, I limit myself to 1 breakfast and 1 lunch at HTB. Moving on to the Beaverton location, it sits in a considerably nicer strip mall than does the one on SE 82nd in Clackamas. Even the inside is nicer, with that look of being in a dark green colored den in a big fancy house on the East Coast. You get the idea. The layout is different than the one at Clackamas. This one is spread out more horizontally and has more seats along windows. The one in Clackamas makes for a L-shape, so a good deal of it is inboard from the windows. As for the service, I find the Clackamas location to be friendlier than this one. And I don't think it's because they know me. I watch how they interact with other customers there. Wow ... I just admitted that the personnel at my local HTB know me. This could mean being disenfranchised from the fine dining types I know on Yelp. As for the food, it's mostly the same. The main items are constants. Beaverton has a better taco / fajita bar. Clackamas has, or had, these cookies and cream squares of "cheesecake" that are off the charts. I did not see them at Beaverton ... and I asked about them! Aw, shucks. Also, the dishes do not appear to be as thoughtfully put together as some of the ones at Sweet Tomatoes (Souplantation in other states), but HTB is also cheaper and more suited to carnivores. So, I've eaten at this HTB location, on Hall Blvd., once. (Sidebar: I drove, but a person can practically walk here from the MAX and WES stations near 24 Hour Fitness and Damerow Ford). I've eaten at the one in Clackamas numerous times. For the price and the variety, it's a solid 3 star joint. However, with a coupon burning a hole in your pocket, it's more like a 4 star joint.

I keep going back to OCB, I keep not liking it much, and I keep going back. It's a buffet, so I know I shouldn't complain. We went at 9 am for breakfast. The food was plentiful, and pretty similar to the other locations. This location was noticeably cleaner than the clackamas location, the service was just as friendly as both the clackamas and mall 205 restaurants. Rosa was our table checker and she was very nice and attentive. She cleared our plates as fast as we emptied them. I saw something I don't remember seeing at any other location, a manager. And I saw him several times. He was constantly on the floor, talking with guests and staff, and checking on the food. He was very busy, but also nice. The parking lot was fairly full so there were no spaces near the door, no big deal, you should get a little exercise if you are going to eat here. The cashier was easily confused by are "who's paying for who," on mothers day. Five people in our party, Two paid for one each, two seniors, three adults, two drinks I can see how that would be confusing. It took a few minutes, but fortunately there was no line and we got it all figured out. The selection varies a bit than the other location. The dessert selection here was WAY smaller (who needs fancy desserts for breakfast anyway?) The dining room and food bar setup is set up so you could easily miss half and never know. I rarely drink soda so I'm not sure if this problem was specific to what I was drinking (diet) or the whole machine, but it was flat- no carbonation. So that was a waste of money. I meant to complain but I don't usually drink with meals anyway so I didn't bother. My mom was bothered that they increased the prices for Mothers day. It's only a dollar more, no big deal, but they probably should cover up the sign that shows the price before they charge you the higher price. The salad bar looked great. I don't eat salad for breakfast, but everything looked fresh, cold, and well supplied. Breakfast didn't look (or taste) very impressive. The bacon was a bit too crispy. The sausage was almost rubbery. The poached eggs were very watery, and the hollandaise had a jello-ick film over the top. I dipped below the film and the sauce tasted OK though. They had sugar free syrup out, I like that. :-) I used to always have to ask for some. No peanut butter though. The other locations have peanut butter. I can say a few good things, the people here were very nice, friendly, helpful. They seemed happy to be here. The food, while not particularly tasty, is consistently what I expect to find at Hometown Buffet. For the price, the selection is pretty darn good. So like all the common fast food joints, you know what to expect for the price you pay.
(3)Lauren D.
This place is good if you have no fear of germs, bowel discomfort, drug addicts, or the elderly. You get what you pay for; Unlimited Quantities of Cafeteria Food. Which on some days, can be nice if that's what you're into. A large of variety of food: Tacos, Fried Things, Pizza, Desserts made with 50% Crisco, a somewhat Decent Salad Bar, a Soft Serve Machine, etc. As far as Cleanliness... It's always crumby, always greasy, and always a good idea to bring your own Hand Sanitizer since the bathrooms are a cesspool of faeces and other debauchery. ( I have talked to management before about the unpleasant state of the restrooms, and returned two weeks later to find the same "questionable material" smeared upon the walls and doors.) The only reason I come here is because my Boyfriend has an Iron-Stomach and enjoys Reasonable Pricing... "Unlimited Lunch for 12ish Bucks"? - "Hells Yeah."

Was there tonight remembering I hadn't eaten for the day, so figured it could be healthier than fast food and quicker than going someplace else. It was Kids Eat Free night or something like that (the people in front of me lied of their kids' ages to get a discount as I heard the kids talking of it), and let me tell you it was packed and the buffet was a wreck. Not only did you have to dodge all the kids (tons of them) running around due to poor parenting, but the food areas seemed destroyed, and things seemed over-cooked at a higher than normal temperature and dried out as if done in a hurry just to get it dispersed . The food area is cramped the way it's designed and oddly sorted, there's no privacy at the booths, tables are crammed in everywhere, there was never a person at the carving station, the plates need replaced due to massive amounts of use and were all wet, and I overheard multiple employees complaining of the night. The swinging kitchen doors were gross from dirty handprints, so who knows what the kitchen itself looks like? I've been trying to avoid desserts, but I did walk by and they appeared to have lots to choose from, so I suppose that was a plus for those interested? But otherwise I'd avoid Thursday nights if what I had was typical. For $15 with a drink it was totally not worth it. I filled on mashed potatoes and gravy since they appeared "safe" and left.

meh. ive experienced better , but I had one of dem dang ol coupon doo dads and it was free bacon for dogs day and my boy blue had something of a hunkerin for dat some ol of bacon . but Iya seen dat ol parkin lot it a be a mighty ol walk ita be a mile if it was a inch and my gout be actin up from muh love of buffet ... but I knew Iya had to make it fur muh boy ,, I got in and dat host was mighty nice I was worried muh dog blue would have to stay parked outside but that dem waitress cleared off a nice space fer blue right on dat table sitn like a king with a bih bowl of bacon I gave that busty lil filly muh coupon and she she was a mighty happy ... all the food was crap.
(2)Gina M.
Pros: Staff seemed pretty nice. Cons: Disgusting. Over priced horrible tasting food. $42. For 3 people on Sunday. I ate nothing. It was gross. Save your money, go the freezer section of any grocery store and anything in there will taste better.
(1)Mike Z.
The family enjoys the variety that is here...salad, then meats, noodles, bread, and dessert. Sure, the food is hospital-like quality, but's it ok considering the price.
(5)sac b.
To be fair, I am not a buffet fan in general... Unless it's quality food. Hometown buffet is arguably among the worst food on the planet. from bloody chicken to Harry hamburgers... Have fun. Two stars for good ice cream...and delicious soda...so the kids love it!
(2)Morgan D.
Ruben is a really great worker. I Always notice he works hard and keeps on top of things, he is great with customers and pretty much does everything perfectly. HE DESERVES A RAISE!!!!
(5)Jessica W.
I had not been eating here for quite some time, last time we were here, and each other time before that, when I used to come here regularly, I had a wonderful experience. the food was always fresh and delicious, the ribs (on Saturdays) were large and tender and tasted great. Everything else too. But most recently things have changed unfortunately. Last week I was here with some friends on a Saturday night and I was really disappointed. They did not have all the great variety they used to have some time back, they had the steak, they had Salisbury steak, they had many more food items, also warm the chocolate sundae that were so popular and that only this place used to prepare in the most delicious way, they were gone, the dessert items were old, stale and tasted like chemicals, but the worst were the ribs, compared to what they had before, those juicy, tender, quite big ribs, were gone too and what they were serving now was some short, very dry and hard to chew pork ribs, served with no barbeque sauce. The staff is not the same as well, the people who served at the various stands, were not that helpful or friendly, very stressed. I really hope they make an effort to improve things in the future and to try to bring this place up to the great standard it was before!

I came here recently with a groupon deal. 2 $10 gift cards for $12. (2 adults and 2 beverages - not bad price) to be Honest though the food reminded me of a grocery store deli. My boyfriend didn't mind as he usually only eats Mac&cheese and the mash potatoes and gravy. When I was there the meat options were fried chicken, orange chicken, county fried steak and a mini individual sized pot roast that looked like it had been sitting under the lamp for hours . I wanted steak or the juicy prime rib they use to have... Ribs?? Fries? I also noticed some of the plates I grabbed were filthy and/or covered with water. I must admit though the clam chowder was delicious. I wonder if it was an off day or if I came at a bad time.. But I do miss the LARGE variety they USE to have. Overall 3.5 the extra .5 was for our hostess Rosa. She was friendly, quick to pick up our plates and she even gave us a $3 off coupon.

For a buffet: -The food is hit and miss -The price is high -The seating has very little privacy including booths -The staff isnt the friendliest. Clearly either in it for the paycheck or to just get the day over with.

Go here if you love babies... A lot of screaming babies and bad food. The food is 'typical' buffet off the interstate food that lacks taste, but offers hot food. If this place was the only place open in the world, I'd go there again. *regular yellow mustard is located in the taco station?. This Hometown Buffet's floor plan is quite different from the other Hometown Buffets, it's not as open as the others, and lacks the space to flow around the stations. I kept getting boxed inbetween the stations due to the size of the customers... this location didn't space their stations far enough apart to acommidate some of their customers.

For my daughters 13th birthday she somehow came up with the plan of going to hometown buffet. Keep in mind this is a place I only attend if someone pays me to eat there, and this is in their entire existence. And from my less than warm prior experience memories it has not changed a bit. We started off with a luke warm greeting by the cashier who was slow to get up from his conversation at a nearby table. And don't ask if a birthday might mean a percentage off the birthday girls meal.. That's a big negative, followed by a scoff and a look like you told me that "why." After paying our 57$ for 4 we were allowed to seat ourselves, and found a booth away from the eating clubs that look like they were powering thru their 3rd meal of the day. We started with a mediocre salad bar, and the girls dug into the wallpaper paste like soup.. Tomato they think. The wife and I graduated to the main course, as we shuffled by an eclectic mix of very young and unsupervised children making sure the next scoop of whatever gruel you choose has a small part of them contained, to the very old cussing them out loud enough to hear at our quieter corner table. Back to the food.. Sysco be damned, us food service, etc. all put together looking like it was freshly flopped out of the plastic covered fork poked microwave tray you get your TV dinner from, left to hover around the acceptable temperature required by food standards that those hot lights can almost provide. There was nothing.. I mean nothing set out that I could say was remotely good. Well, maybe that's a bit harsh, the cherry coke was nice and bubbly, and the girls enjoyed the cherry icee. I decided to try the freshly sliced "beef" and barely got 1 bite in before I was questioning why the texture, and taste seemed foreign. A fresh pan of baked chicken was all I could say was palatable. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place if you desire any part of a good deal, or decent meal. If you've got the time in your day to pay once, and eat 3 square meals in 8 or so hours I could see eating your money's worth. Otherwise the only way I will ever return is a coupon where I am payed 11.99 to give them another chance. My real worry is my house only has 2 toilets.. And there's 4 of us. I guess I can call it a success if that does not become an issue.

Yeesh...my ole man doesn't have the Tigard HTB to go to anymore as they closed it due to the rent increase. Which is stupid in my opinion because now that leasing company has a huge gap with nobody in there. This HTB is a little be more cluttered than the one in Tigard. If you compared the two the one in Tigard was more posh and sexy looking, this one...looks crappy and cramped. Apparently they have stir fry now. The pictures look like chow mein with veggies and your choice of protien. What it really is a bed of noodles which just stuff thrown on the top, like a cafeteria worker just throwing the stuff on the noodles. Nothing to rave about. The place on the weekends is crowded. Kids running and stuff, it's worries me to go there when my ole man is disabled and I hate to see a kid run around and run into him. Yeah I could get his food for him but than I don't want my dad to loss any remaining independence that my dad has left. HTB does notice this and try to accomodate us by putting us closer to the food area, which was really nice of them.

Hometown gives a large variety of mediocre food. Whether it's the leathery steak or bland vegetables, you can leave your taste buds at home! I'm actually trying to calculate how many plates of food one would have to eat to net value for paying 12 dollars for this meal.

I don't tend to get on here to not recommend places. I figure that most people will give good reviews to the good places and the bad places will fall off the radar. However, this place was so bad I had to come warn people off. This is what I think of when I think of food that is not even worth chewing. It is horrible. Bad food, bad service, and did I mention the bad food? Everything tastes like it came from a large box in the back. Mashed potatoes? Oh you mean the powdered potatoes. Mac'n'Cheese? Oh you mean the stuff that would even make the blue box stuff shiver in disgust. The meat is anemic and I don't even want to think about where it may come from. Even the dessert is lackluster. You can taste the chemicals from the boxes it comes from. The salad is wilty and the "selection" is laughable. And the price! Why would anyone pay that kind of money for this crap? You know what they say: jack of all trades is a master of none. No place is that truer than here.

Geez, I am surprised to see the low ratings on this place. What do you people expect going to a buffet? Of course the food isn't going to be the most amazing thing you have ever had but it is better than most buffets! They seem to replace and rotate the food very often and they clear your table often too. Every employee I encounter is friendly, including the lobby cleaner guys who always have to clean up my kid's spilled drink...which leads me to another point. Quit complaining about the "screaming kids" ...it is a buffet that feeds kids very inexpensively, what do you expect? We LOVE Family Night, it is a good value and my kids are always excited to go.

Everything I ate (buttermilk and blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, tater square, biscuit) was yummy and very filling, so much so that I'm stuffed.....need I say more? :-p

My "LAST" meal there was terrible. For the price you charge, you could have left in ANY flavor! Sawdust has a better taste!

Tonight the restaurant was not busy at all, while the buffet basically next door was packed, so I was suspicious going in. I figured out right away that $28 for two people might be a reason - too expensive for mediocre food! Before we even got to the table, I noticed that most of the food bins were dried out including the desserts - apple crisp looked crispy dry. I had a small salad, not too bad but I didn't venture to try any of the specialty salads. They looked funky. Skipped the soup, the broccoli soup had a layer of dry skim on top. I guess nobody had tried it for a while. I'm not sure why there isn't a procedure of stirring and rotating the food regularly enough that they never appear dry like I saw tonite. I did not try the carving meat although they looked good. The fried chicken was tough and dry, probably sat there too long. Mash potatoes and gravy were ok. Had the coconut cake and it was ok. Glad I took the corner piece so there was extra frosting. You guessed it, the cake was a little dry. The other thing I noticed was the level of cleanliness seemed a bit in question. It wasn't a "dirty dining" feeling but definitely borderline. The omelet/stir fry station was not being used for whatever reason. I would expect it to be clean and ready for the next day, and I think maybe it was quickly wiped off, but the surface was greasy and there were crumbs of food under the burners. There were two fry pans sitting on the burners. They looked ok on the inside, but the outside of each pan had food residue, ok they were chunks of food, dripping down the sides. The glass sneeze guard barrier was dirty. That whole area definitely was in need of additional cleaning. I noticed that some of the plates had food residue on them, a cup in the stack was discolored with some kind of residue. The soda machine could have been cleaner, but it wasn't growing anything on it. Yet. It's funny that other reviewers mentioned crying babies, we had one a couple of tables away and that was annoying. Seriously people, tend to them or take them outside. The staff was good at clearing the tables and being friendly, that seems to be a constant. For many, it's probably fine, but for me I'd rather spend this kind of money across town at Izzy's. Better food and cleaner. But, I don't require all the variety of the Hometown Buffet so that makes it an even easier decision.

OK, this one is kind of a guilty pleasure. It's a good place to get completely stuffed on comfort food, for not a lot of dough. If your expectations are a basic american buffet, you won't be disappointed.
