This is an update to my review from March 2010...I have dined several more times at Decarli since my initial review and have come away less and less impressed as time goes on. This evening we decided to celebrate our 23 anniversary with a family dinner at Decarli. Our teenage (17 & 14) boys love going out to nice restaurants and have been to Decarli on two other occasions. We made a reservation for 7pm and were seated promptly. The evening slowly fell apart from there...our waitress did not greet us or take our drink order for 15 minutes and the restaurant was not quite half full. She seemed distracted and did not stop moving while standing at our table. Since this could go on for several pages, lets just jump ahead to our dining experience...APPETIZERS: The oysters,1 pizzette, and polenta fries arrived at 7:40, our SALADS arrived at 8pm, after my husband asked twice for a second Manhattan, it finally arrived - our ENTREES arrived just before 8:30 and my husband was told his pizzette (his entree choice) would need to be changed due to running out of tomatoes. We had to ask twice for more bread, ordering ice tea, even getting our check took longer than normal. I am not simply complaining about and "off" service night - when you have a dinner bill that is $177 with only 2 cocktails, no wine and no dessert on it, you expect a level of attention and service...even in Beaverton. Honestly, if it was just the service I would not be adding an update - We have had some very inconsistent meals and that is not acceptable when it is so expensive. The Caesar salad is absolutley, hands down one of the best in Portland/Metro and it doesn't give you horrible garlic breath. The cocktails and wine selection are terrific. We always love the pizzette selection. The Short Ribs are the best entree on the entire menu - fantastic EVERYTIME!! However, tonight was the second time one of my sons ordered the Painted Hills steak, tonight is was a Rib Eye (NY Strip listed on menu, but they ran out and substituted the Rib Eye) - AGAIN the steak was over seasoned, way too much Salt, they dressed the entire thing with Gorganzola cheese sauce! Painted Hills meat is a treasure and does not need much to enhance it. My son ate about half of his dinner and just gave up and told us what was wrong - he did not want to complain and thought maybe it was just that he did not like the sauce - the rest of us all took bites of his steak and were shocked at the saltiness. Since we were mostly done with our dinner and he ate over half of his steak we decided not to send it back, just lesson learned not to order steak at Decarli. My husband ordered a pizzette with roasted tomatoes, basil and fresh mozzarella cheese - our waitress came over just before our dinner arrived to inform my husband that they had ran out or roasted tomatoes and ask him if he wanted a substitue on his pizzette - he asked for Pancetta. So, the pizette arrives after our meals, it has regular cheese not fresh mozzarella, no basil and some sauteed Pancetta that looked like it was added on to the already cooked pizzette. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!! Needless to say, Decarli will no longer be in our regular family dining rotation - My husband and I will stick to happy hour for now.

Well, well, well, Decarli might be the only reason to learn Beaverton has a downtown. Yes it's true this great little hot spot is located in the West side hills of suburbia. Since I typically don't judge a book by its cover it was left on my radar and I finally got around to making a reservation for dinner. If Friday night's dinner service is any indication of their popularity I highly recommended you doing the same. Inside the dining room was larger than expected so be warned if it's busy expect noise levels to be high. The wine list is covered by Italy but there are also local and regional selections available. Corkage fee is $15 and bottle prices were reasonable most priced under $40. I only wished for more by the glass but there's enough to not succumb to a bottle purchase. Your service starts with fresh bread from the neighboring station which we soon followed by the Salumi plate. This included four types of salami, crostini, and pickled vegetables garnished with whole grain mustard to open up the sinuses and heighten your wine experience. Our service was a two way street, the water boy was quick to fill our tiny cups and I'm sure was kept busy all night. While our waiter was informative and helpful still table service was slow. However I'm going to blame it on their maxed capacity rather than deduct a star. Originally I wanted the espresso braised short ribs a house specialty, especially once I asked how many ounces it equaled and the reply was 10. Although someone had the same plan and ordered before me so I was promised a bite instead. What I ordered was the Tagliatelle with a fennel and sausage ragu, the pasta was fresh and cooked just over al dente leaving the noodles firm but silky in texture. The sauce while pungent didn't overpower the freshly made sausage allowing some really nice flavor to come through. Overall I was impressed by how well everything was cooked and the portion sizes because afterwards we couldn't even split a dessert. Before leaving I reviewed the HH menu which inspired me to come back although I would totally return even if I lived on the East side of town.

Always love the food & cocktails here; however, I think we won the prize for Waitress-in-a-Bad-Bad-Mood at Happy Hour on a Tuesday night. It easily took 15 to be waited upon as well as a long time between check-ins. Was it the lack of a warm, friendly greeting, the annoyed way she asked, "Do you want food with your drinks?," the barely hidden sneer when we asked questions about the menu, or haughtily dropping off a sample of a menu item without bringing silverware? My friend waited for her to return with utensils, but she never did. Strange. Each of us in our party thought the waitress was rude for different reasons. We were all definitely disappointed in the service & hope this isn't a new trend there.

not the best I have had but well above average! Definitely a find in the beaverton area! Go here and you wont be disappointed. They have an extensive wine list as well as a nice variety to choose from on their menu.

Nice neighborhood restaurant, whose service reminds me of our Las Vegas hometown. This place would do well anywhere. Ate there twice since moving here. 1st time was a joy. Good peach and prosciutto appetizer. Great pork chop and good short ribs. Desert selection is OK. Second dinner revealed boar Ragu that was too overpowering (salt). Nice wine selection and bar. Good service.

This place is incredible! I've been here many times. The service is excellent and the food is A+! I've never had a bad meal/dish. It has to be the best place to eat in Beaverton. Also, it is not over priced. Even if you live in Portland, this place is worth the ride. Thanks DeCarli!

I travel a lot so I use Yelp "a lot". Sometimes it really pays off and others it just confuses the issue. Well, in this situation (coming back to Portland where I grew up), it paid off big. This is a top notch restaurant, hands down. My compliments to the owner, chef, and employee vibe. With a big table full of cooks and picky people, you still hit it out of the park. If I were to offer one suggestion, it would be to get a Sommelier (or at least a very ambitious wine lover on that route) and give them the time to work the tables. Tops! Thank you, Jeff

I can't believe we'd never eaten here. The place is a well kept "secret". Located in Beaverton- a city extremely anorexic When it comes to decent happy hours. The huge bar area doesn't make you feel like your stuck in the broom closet with no lights. Seated at the bar you have a full view of the open kitchen. The very polite staff was efficient without being loud and frantic, which helps add to the atmosphere. The happy hour menu is very extensive with generous portions for reasonable prices. The food was very well prepared with great presentation. No skimping on the alcohol in the martinis, nor on the flavor! I think we've found our regular place.

Return trip definitely worthwhile. Cameron did a good job for us. One bus boy was too efficient as he cleared our table when we had one course left which was disconcerting. Lots of good wines at reasonable prices. We had a falanghina which isn't easy to find on lists. The pastas were good. My octopus appetizer was great. My wife loves the mussels. Salads were good. Dessert was good. I enjoyed an imbued drink before and Clear Creek pear brandy after

I cannot believe I gave Decarli four stars when it so obviously deserves five. Update time!!! I was thinking writing that Decarli is one of my favorite restaurants in Beaverton; but that is a lie. Decarli is straight up one of my favorite restaurants. The food is just so delicious. I have never tasted anything there that is not pants-dropping-good. The portion sizes are perfect. I can get an appetizer, share a salad, and eat an entree without being stuffed. I can generally make room for some coffee and dessert too c: The real problem is making a decision on what to order. I love the open kitchen. I love the waitstaff/service. I love the dining space and the bar. The service here is still slow but now I am knowledgeable enough to plan accordingly. It is better to enjoy a slow meal anyway then to be rushed!

When I say that I know Italian food, please believe me. I've run the gamut of Italian cuisine, from the risotto of the north to the pizza of the south (and those tasty tasty pork and truffle dishes from Umbria). I've spent time in Italian kitchens, am a fair hand at pasta or pizza and could tell you the finest gelataria in Florence after extensive research there. So believe me when I say that I know Italian food. This, my friends, is the real deal legit cuisine. And it's a great destination for date night. And it's in Beaverton, OR of all places. I suppose the best way to describe this place is to describe the meal we had. Put on your drool napkins: We started the night with the much raved about polenta fries and a charcuterie platter. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm a sucker for charcuterie, especially one which boasts house-made rilettes. It was right up there in quality with the charcuterie I've had from Olympic Provisions, which in my opinion is the best in town. The balance between sweet and salty was spot-on, and the inclusion of some house-candied fresh cherries sealed the deal. The truffle fries were just as described on this site by other reviewers. The fries were nice and crispy, but the Gorgonzola butter sealed the deal. The melted Gorgonzola and butter concoction just gave the fries a depth of flavor that they were otherwise missing. I mean, it's fried corn mush, which only brings so much to the palate party. Salads were niceties, but nothing to write home about. I probably would pass on salads if returning, just because the appetizers and mains were that good. The mains. Oh, the mains! First, let me say that I usually pride myself on choosing the better entree at the table. I enjoy seeking out what is king in that menu, and having it. The tagliatelle was widely reviewed, and was my choice for the night. A great pasta dish, this had just the right chew to the noodles and enough sausage to bring that little fennel burst to every bite. It was great, easily one of the better pasta courses I've had in the US. But it wasn't the best. For that moniker goes to the entree that my wife chose. If you happen to find yourself at Decarli on Friday night, and it's fairly early in the night, do yourself a favor and order the pork chop. It's the best pork chop I've ever tasted. After we were finished, the waiter described the dish to us in a little more detail. Turns out that they order a half pig on Fridays for the weekend dinners, and that the chef butchers the pig to create a very limited supply of pork chops. This chop that my wife had was easily 3" thick. It was minimally seasoned, but cooked perfectly, and was served with this pistachio garnish which accentuated the sweetness of the pork to a degree that I never thought possible. If you've ever had a German take on pork with a hazelnut crust, this was very similar in flavor. The pistachios had none of the bitterness that hazelnuts can have in this situation, and the perfectly cooked chop melted in my mouth. This is the dish to get, and I would put it up against the best pork chops around as the standard to live up to. Go. Make a reservation and go. It's a good date night restaurant, and the food is done right.

HAPPY HOUR!!!!! The Oven Roasted Tomato pizza is seriously to die for. The Polenta fries, the Bruschetta, and the Short Rib Sandwich are also GREAT!! One of the best Happy Hour joints around. Sit at the bar... Cole is a great!

We've been regular customers at Decarli since they opened, and we've probably dined there 100 times or more. The food, service, and ambiance are all outstanding by any standards, but of course, completely beyond any expectation for Beaverton. It's nice to know a restaurant has been performing at such a high level for 6 or 7 years. The signature dish is the short ribs and polenta, which are as good as we've had anywhere. However, I think Paul (the chef/owner) does particular magic with his gnocchi. They are so pillow soft and light, and we've never had any gnocchi quite like them. They are best with Paul's bolognese or other ragu sauces. The other not to be missed item is the polenta fries for an appetizer. The salads are always great. I love the wine list - not too big, but reasonably priced and well thought out. Unfortunately, the word is out, because now you probably want a reservation on any night and especially weekends.

I have been meaning to write a review for Decarli for quite some time. We came in for dinner last Sunday around six and there were quite a few patrons already. And by the time we left it was getting pretty full. We had a couple of appetizers which included the polenta fries and the charcuterie which were very delicious. For dinner I had the Tagliatelle, which was very rich, flavorful, and not too large a portioned size. My wife made dinner out of several small plates including the Bruschetta and Green bean salad, which she assured me were excellent. For dessert we split a salted caramel cheesecake, which was mediocre. Our server throughout the evening was attentive and helpful. Decarli is without a doubt one of the better Italian restaurants in the Portland metro area. The restaurant itself is small yet cozy. The menu tends to change with the season which is always a good sign. The staff are always attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wine menu. And the prices are reasonable. My only complaint (which is why I didn't give it 5 stars) would be that the dessert menu is a bit lame and static. (Wish the dessert menu would change with the seasons as well.) And don't forget, they have a great happy hour menu as well.

Brilliant restaurant. Price is on the high end of the two-dollar-sign range, but it's worth it. All three in our party had an entree that they swore was the best food they'd had in a long, long time (my favorite was the short ribs). The atmosphere is pleasant (if a bit loud), the rustic Italian cuisine, with influences and accents from the rest or Europe, is wonderful, the servers are fast and attentive, and the decor fits the food perfectly.

DO NOT SIT AT THE BAR!! Have always liked this place and was in last time for happy hour at the bar - too many people not enough space so that came off the HH list. Well we went last night (Friday) for dinner and lucky for them, they were packed at 6:30. We grabbed 2 seats at the bar - we never mind this, especially with a good bartender. It was the most frustrating experience! They had one bartender on and clearly needed two. He was buried with the service bar and every person at the bar was needing attention and trying to catch his eye - he couldn't even look up he was so busy. It was super stressful for everyone and not enjoyable at all and we'll probably take a break from this place for a while. Food was good, but not worth the harried vibe.

I also Have to give Decarli a big thumbs up!!! Why can't anything else in the Tigard/ Beaverton area be this cool. I used to feel like if I left the city, I was relegated to chain restaurants or brewpubs for sustenance. Thank you Decarli for having charm in the burbs.

DECARLI [ D ] also for DELICIOUS. Actually, "D" is for "Decarli" which is actually the last name of the husband-wife chefs who established this phenomenal restaurant! [ E ] is for EFFICIENCY. They were able to accommodate a large reservation and "make it happen" (plus!) [ C ] is for CHARCUTERIE board that graced my table filled with pickled veggies, mustard, crostinis and several types of cheese, salami and smoked meats! [ A ] is for the ultra-swankly AMBIANCE that this place brings to the table. Lights are quite dim throughout the place and lots of candle-lites surrounding the area. [ R ] is for my RISOTTO which was made with rabbit and was cooked oh so creamy, consistency was on the spot! This came with pine nuts and made the dish very cohesive. I would definitely order this again! [ L ] is for the place being a bit LOUD. It's a big open room, there's a lot of hustle and bustle going on. With that in mind, it can be quite difficult to converse between your buddies throughout the night. [ I ] is for Italian-inspired. This rustic-seductive restaurant is amazing with all their flavors of food and drink. Fresh bread, wonderful service, who can ask for more? FYI: - Parking on the street - HH Tues-Thur (4:30-6pm; 9-10pm); Fri-Sat (4:30-6; 9-11pm) and Sun (5-9pm) - Great place for a date! So what do you think If my party of eight's dishes were ALL cleaned up and lots of "mmmm's and yummmm's" were going around? I hope that says it all because I would DEFINITELY make a trip back here!

I thought this was a really cool place. Modern decor, very comfortable and good atmosphere. I agree it does look a bit like the Romney / Santorum crowd in there...but I think we are the only ones that can afford to dine out these days :) Decent drink menu. Nice selection of appetizers and entrees. Two apps were good for the whole table, try the polenta fries. The main course was really good and was a smart size. I'm over the whole bring out the whole box of pasta on a plate experience. The desert was excellent as well salted cheese cake. I would certainly come back.

Very surprising (no offense) to find a joint like this in Beaverton. Reminiscent in ambiance, approach and quality of some of the best NYC restaurants without trying too hard, this place nails it on many levels. Service is always solid, drinks selection is well rounded, food is delicious and consistent while not being too pricey. Its a staple of my visits to the in-laws on the West Coast. Cheers.

I've lived in Beaverton for 25+ years and we have rarely had much in the way of interesting restaurants. Occasionally a good Asian food spot, but that's it. I've heard about Decarli's for awhile now, but tonight was my first chance to try it myself. It definitely lived up to it's billing. We arrived at 5:30, hoping to get a table in the main dining room. Although nearly every table was empty, we were told the reservations were booked through 8:45. We were able to get a nice table in the bar, and take advantage of the Happy Hour menu (also full dining menu available). The bar seemed nearly as good as the dining room, maybe a tad more crowded. The HH prices were good. The food was amazing. We had mussels in saffron creme, brushcetta with chicken liver mousse [best item of the night!], pickled red onion /white bean puree, roasted red pepper/salmon tartare, creme fraiche, chives, and the ham panini. We each had a different red wine by the glass, which were both very good. The service was great. I can't wait to go again!

Cream of cauliflower soup and whole wheat chitarra, none other then spectacular! Certainly not calorie light foods but that's hardly expected eating Italian. It's only my second or third visit to DeCarli and it sure surpassed previous expectations!

An oasis in the good food desert that is Beaverton. Excellent happy hour: good variety of food; good variety of drinks (wine, beer, mixed drinks are all on the HH menu); reasonable discounts from regular food prices; and, best of all, great hours. The polenta fries with gorgonzola butter are to die for. I didn't even know polenta could do that... Service was excellent. No complaints about anything. This is a great local business that earned my support for sure.

Great place to take a date for a formal evening or hit up the happy hour with some friends in the bar area. The menus(drinks and food) seem to be always changing so I never get tired of going here. Drinks are strong and the wine/beer/mixed selection is wide ranging. Definitely stop by if you haven't been before but make sure you arrive early for happy hour as there is usually a line outside waiting for the restaurant to open.

Decarli came recommended by numerous friends and family. Friday night, found parking right out front. Nice start. We had 8:30 reservations so we might dine without feeling pressure to have our table turned, and the three of us were sat immediately, even though there were quite a few people waiting for a table. Hostess was nice, professional. Doing well - no fun making reservations only to sit and wait. The place seems popular, and often that might mean squeezing in another few tables, but tables are not too close together, so you can converse without feeling like you are including strangers. Lighting is dim, but not tough-to-see-your-food's-details dim. Server was late to the table. Plastic delivery from the get-go. We asked what the server might order themselves, as that can often be insightful. Server then listed the menu, descriptively. We asked again what they might order if sitting in our place. Their response? "I hate that question!" Not so good. Again listed five things (I guess they were hungry) Put in our order, and ...... waited. Crickets..... 20 minutes later, bread finally arrived, and then less than 1 minute later my beer immediately followed by outstanding polenta fries with gorgonzola butter. Outstanding and memorable. Unfortunately, all the rest of the food arrived like a train at that time also - soup, salad, entrees - even though we had requested to have the food come in stages. Timing of the service aside, demeanor of the server aside, the food was tremendous. Everything appropriately cooked, nothing over-seasoned (or under), salmon cooked to medium-rare with the vegetables precisely having the taste and textures they grew with, only warmer and more interesting, tagliatelle al-dente as my family makes in Italy with boar ragu just slightly kicked up a notch on the spice meter, soup bursting with flavor topped with the appropriate nuance of very thinly sliced cured meat, beet and also frisee salad balanced, fresh, and well prepared. Short ribs were also superb, and since I understand that is the steady Eddie to order, it stood up well. To our great satisfaction, the food was wonderful. Maybe there just wasn't a connection to the server - which sometimes that is just what happens - but is it not the server's job to connect? And timing like we experienced is totally unacceptable if you aren't at Denny's. I'd give Decarli's 5 stars were it not for the server. Mind you, there was no clash, no offense, just terrible timing which made us feel like an extreme afterthought, and the sense that the server had done this 1 million times.... and lost their enthusiasm 500,000 times ago. Go enjoy Decarli....

This review is solely for happy hour. My husband and I went in after the reviews we had read on here to see what all the hype was about. This place is definitely as good as people say it is on this site. We waited maybe 15 minutes for bar seating. My husband had a blonde ale which was only $3.50 and I had a delicious, heavy-poured glass of red wine for $6. We started with the polenta fries with gorgonzola butter which were delicious, though the portion was small. He had the meatball sandwich with mixed greens that had one of the best dressings I've ever tasted- very unique and full of flavour without being overpowering. I had the proscutto pizzetta which was AMAZING. I would highly recommend this place for happy hour. The quality of the food is wonderful and the prices are fair for what you get. Service was fast and friendly and I'll definitely be returning to this restaurant to try their full menu.

Finally made it to happy hour here! We got there a few minutes after they opened, and the bar was already packed for happy hour. Definitely get there at 4:25 to get a table, hell, a seat at the bar even! I had the spicy mango margarita and the cool hand cuke, both on the $5 HH list and very delicious. Took a while to get them when the bar got the first wave of guests, but service rapidly picked up after that. My friend and I split the caesar (whole leaves, savory dressing, and big shaved pieces of parm), the polenta fries (unique, "tastes like the fair"), and the pancetta and arugula pizzetta (salty, delicate, and fresh). All came to the bar in a timely fashion, and I would order them again. The hostess was unnecessarily brusque and the waitstaff was ineffectual, but the bartender was a gem! Fast, funny, and intelligent, plus he had time to socialize with guests and still serve effectively. That's the sign of good service. The main downside is the tiny bar section. With a little ingenuity, it could be expanded to accommodate the actual numbers of patrons who would like to frequent it, but this may be a trick to get people to pay full price in the restaurant instead of HH prices in the bar. I see you, sneaky owners. Bottom line: I have replaced Hall Street Grill with decarli as my Friday HH destination. Whew!

Went here for dinner. What can I say? The food was just ok especially for the price. I walked out feeling full but not satisfied. It was a little disappointing after all the 5 star reviews. The atmosphere was nice so maybe I will try again for happy hour and just order drinks and a pizza .

I had the room temperature shrimp Rice A Roni.... I mean "lobster risotto". They were out of their two signature pork dishes and the waitress talked me into it. Two people in our group ordered the small pizzas(pizzetta) and they came a full five minutes after everyone else's meal. I was happy to grab a slice of pizzetta that someone else didn't finish until I had a bite and it tasted like Spaghetti O's. Seriously. Oh, and there was the 18% gratuity for our group on ten added on to that. This place is so over rated. Not sure why it is getting good reviews based in what I tasted. Won't give them another chance unless I can't convince my friends to go else where next time.

Hard to rate this one. We really enjoyed the food but had several issues with delivery of said food. We ordered drinks that took a really long time and then our waitress said they ran out of martini glasses. (this is before 7 pm on a Saturday) Pretty poor planning or dish-washing on the bartenders part. Finally had to say lets at least order our appetizers and salads without waiting for the drinks. The polenta fries were very tasty but I think the butter was a little much. It made them taste a little like popcorn. I like them better plain. We received the salads and everyone loved them; there was a mushroom one and one with beets. At that time we put in our dinner order. It was already getting late maybe 7:30 pm and we had been there an hour. We were engrossed in our conversation but my stomach started talking to me.... protein..... where is it!?!!? Our friends had their son at home and they realized it was pushing 9 pm and we didn't have our food and we initially said we'd be home around 9 pm. So they called him to check in and then the waitress came over and said we should have had our food and would go check on it. The food came out shortly after this. Then the owner (I think) came by and said they had lost our ticket and that all the meals would be on her. (very smart thing to do) We really loved the taste of all the entrees but I think we all inhaled them so didn't enjoy them as much as we would have liked to. No one wanted dessert since it was so late and I was personally feeling bloated from eating so fast. It was a shame to eat such good food so quickly. Our favorites were the apple pork, beef short-ribs and gnocchi. Our friends do come here more often and said this was unusual and they did handle it well when they figured it out. Maybe they were understaffed, who knows.... It was great food, a bit expensive compared to some comparable places/meals on the East side.

How much fun was this place!. Totally loved it. Read reviews and had the short rib.... wow. 100% best I have ever had. The meat was tender, sauce perfect, and served beautifully. Great for a date night. Can get a little loud inside, but hey... its Italian... it should be loud. Was delighted to see Vietti wine on the menu. Thanks Decarli for a great date night. We'll be back soon!

My first visit to DeCarli was nothing short of fantastic! It was Happy Hour and I was hungry. I was at the corner of the bar with a bird's-eye view of the very open layout- love! I had the Polenta Fries- excellent. I had the Gorgonzola Spread with Crostini- also delicious- loved the whole cloves of soft roasted garlic on top;) Then came the moist and tasty meatballs in the best tomato sauce- something so sweet about the sauce in a great way! And finally, the full-of-flavor Short-Rib Sandwich! So yummy! All of this with a couple glasses of red and I was in heaven! Thank you DeCarli!!!!!

Ate here for our 7th year anniversary and was blown away! The food was so flavorful. The short ribs were AMAZING and we had spaghetti and meatballs which were good as well. Can't wait to go back!!

This place is incredible! If you haven't been here yet, you are missing out. Amazing drinks and even better food! Outstanding Happy Hour! Do NOT miss out on the polenta fries! I highly recommend DeCarlis! And it doesn't hurt that they have incredible gracious owners!

Not only a great place to enjoy a very nice formal dinner, but they have a fantastic happy hour in their bar area as well. Living in Beaverton amongst a million chain restaurants, we love to support a local business who also makes exceptional food and drinks!

A girlie friend of mine suggested we meet here for a nice dinner and...wow....wow... I would have never noticed ithis place otherwise because the outside is so unassuming but the inside is simple chic and has a very "Pearl District" feel. The staff is very attentive and professional - great wine and food suggestions and are happy to serve you multiple small plates or appetizer and dinner - the customer is always right. I ordered a glass of petit syrah and oysters while I waited for her to arrive - both excellent, but the dinnner was absolutely amazing!! Bruchetta sampler was rich and flavorful. I had the beet salad and my friend ordered a salad with pancetta - both to die for. We shared the short ribs and a pasta dish with wild boar ragu at the suggestion of our server which were both fantastic. We ended up boxing most of our entrees so we could have dessert - their take on cheesecake with homemade salted caramel was heaven in my mouth... Several reviewers have mentioned "poor service", however please kleep in mind that this is NOT an eat and go establishment!! And for those who can't refill your own water with the lovely decanter of fresh water that is provided to you tableside - please take the 'tude elsewhere and leave this gem to those of us who appreciate everything this place offers. You are meant to order one dish at a time, eat slow, savor the flavors and enjoy good company. If you want a quick bite, go elsewhere. If you want quantity over quality, the Spagetti Factory is more our speed (no offense to my kids - love you:-) If you enjoy fine cheeses, unique and flavorful combinations, and TRUE Italian, I highly recommend it (and this is coming from a very anit-Icommercialized Italian/pasta gal). Absolutely amazing...

I know it is in Beaverton, and I too was suspect about how good it could possibly be given that it is in the middle of suburbia, but Decarli is legit! I grew up in Beaverton, but now live in San Francisco. Anyway, I was home visiting family and remembered how much my sister raved about this Italian spot in down town Beaverton. Once I confirmed that this recommendation was not in fact for Giovanni's, I figured it was worth a shot. I came in with friends around 5pm and was happy to find that Decarli has a pretty great happy hour menu. The group ordered just about everything off the menu and it was all great. My friends loved the polenta fries and the pizzas. I had a house made pasta with pancetta that was amazing - and was a great sized portion. Some how no one ordered the burger, but when we saw one go by all of us began to stare and we were suddenly overcome with a case of burger-envy. Not only does Decarli provide delicious food in a great atmosphere for extremely reasonable prices (I live in SF so I am used to high prices so Decarli's prices were a total shocker), but our waitress was GREAT. She works in the bar and gave us great recommendations and was extremely enthusiastic without being annoying. It made me wish for a second that I still lived in Beaverton so I could be one of her "regulars".

We celebrated my wife's birthday on Friday and had an AMAZING dinner at Decarli. I can't imagine a better place to eat. Food is THE BEST and the Staff is So Friendly....... If there was a 6 star rating. I would give it to them......

This place gets it right! Nice atmosphere, excellent service and good, good food. I most appreciate the effort to respect our party's wishes last night, since it was my mother's 83rd birthday. We had a wonderful table, they knew it was her birthday, etc. (Coming off of another experience where a restaurant completely botched a birthday, despite repeated contacts, etc.... Ugh). So, it was a delightful evening at Decarli. Salads were different but not wacky, and we love the short ribs. Smaller menu but they pay attention to details and the quality is great. Well priced wine list, too. Very much recommend for couples, families, younger, older, and well behaved children. And wow I want to try all their cocktails!!

This is absolutely the best place in Beaverton to eat! The menu is sophisticated, but not over done. The cocktails are fresh and the service is friendly and smart! Happy hour is busy but worth it if you can get in there early. Excellent wine list.

Hidden Beaverton gem! We visited Decarli for our first time based on other Yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. We were initially intrigued and pleased by the great atmosphere within the restaurant with the great hardwood floors, wood tables, exposed brick and chandeliers and candles for ambience. The food did not disappoint either we absolutely loved our appetizer, two entrees and our dessert. The special s'more was ah-maze-ing!!!! We will definitely share this restaurant with friends and will be back again. It also appears to have a hopping happy hour as the bar was packed when we arrived...something to try next time!

Gosh. What a fabulous place. In the burbs, of all places; and of all the burbs in the world, in Beaverton; the last place I would expect to find a meal that stands up to Portland's standards. Their burger is absolutely the best. Sitting on a bun that actually did not fall apart holding up the weight of the ingredients, was a perfectly-medium cooked, juicy slab of ground beef, surrounded by a roasted tomato, grilled onions, lettuce, garlic aioli mayo, and cheese, of course. Simple but high-quality ingredients that are prepared with care. The burger was accompanied by perfectly crunchy shoestring fries. We've also tried several of their desserts, the Ceaser salad, a pizzetta, and the chicken under a brick. Everything we've tried has been top-notch. Service has always been consistent, attentive, and quick. Tip: The entire evening every Sunday is Happy Hour, and the food prices are a bargain -- but in order to take advantage of the great prices, you have to be sitting in the bar area or outside. Those seats get filled up fairly quickly; we arrived before six and managed to snag the last little table. It would be nice if they would allow their Sunday happy-hour diners to sit in the main dining room.

We've been here 4-5 times in the last 6 months. Every time it's excellent. The service is excellent. The servers are very knowledgeable. They know their menu very well. The food is rich, flavorful....amazing. I usually have the Tagliatelle which I love. The menu changes so the Tagliatelle will be a different recipe every time. The polenta fries and bruschetta is always a good way to start. Great wine and beer selection. And, very good coffee and tasty deserts to end the meal. It's a small place so make reservations for dinner. If you go for Happy Hour, get there at least 10 minutes before they open. The bar is very small. We've arrived right at opening and had to wait in line. Decarli is definitely one of our favorites!

By far my favorite place for local date-night! My husband and I eat here about 2-3 times per month. The atmosphere is charming and cozy, service is always good and food great! Great wine by the glass list that constantly changes which I like. The short ribs are fantastic! I have a hard time ordering anything else. Start with the saffron mussels...you wont be dissappointed.

Outstanding service. Fresh ingredients. A clear passion by the employees to provide an outstanding meal. A simple formula so many other restaurants fail to emulate. We will keep coming back again-and-again with our friends, family, kids, and hopefully one day use their adjacent private party room.

Went here last night with another couple. LOVE the set up. There was great energy and the place was packed..even at 8:30 on a Saturday night. Started with the much reviewed Polenta Fries, they were very good. Also had the oysters and meatballs. Oysters were very small compared to other places, but they were fresh and tasty. Two of us ordered the short ribs. OMG..amazing. One had the lingine with shrimp and smoked mussels and the other ordered the Tagliatelle with Boar..amazing dishes. We were a bit disappointed on a Saturday night dinner service that they "ran out" of the brick chicken..seemed a bit odd, but ok..we made other choices. The cocktail list and wine list very extensive..had the ruby red drop..YUM! And we did order a bottle of wine that our server told us they "had in but wasnt on the list" and when he showed back up it was a different bottle and all of a sudden "they were out". 4 stars only for the "out of stock items". Service was great, atmosphere was great, food was sooo good. Definately will be back.

Whoa. What is this hip, mod, trendy urban restaurant doing in the middle of sleepy downtown Beaverton?? We showed up forSaturday night happy hour (begins at 9) and stepped into a nicely-designed restaurant. Very surprised to see the liveliness, a good sign. The happy hour menu listed a good number of items, and not just the "side of fries for $4" or "chips and dip for $5." Rather, interesting foods you want to see and eat, such as the polenta fries with gorgonzola butter and the handmade pizzas and paninis. If you're stopping by for some happy late-night bites, the best deal is the Decarli Burger: a genuine burger and shoestring fries for eight bucks that is full-sized and dripping with cheese. Great taste and deal! Try to sit at the bar, near the open kitchen. After watching enough episodes of Hell's Kitchen, it's really fun to watch the different cooks working the different stations: pasta, grill, salads and sandwiches. You can learn a lot about plating just by keeping your eyes open. Free entertainment! This place is my favorite happy hour spot. No need to drive all the way into the Pearl and search for parking. Every time I go, I wonder why this place is here--amidst the other downtown Beaverton businesses such as the holistic healing center across the street, the umpteen massage therapists, one-man law offices, and tattoo shops. But I'm glad it is. Decarli is a great urban spot in the middle of suburbia.

We had a nice meal at Decarli. We ordered the sauteed octopus and beet salad as appetizers and the Pan Roasted Brick Chicken and Beef Short Rib for dinner. All of the items were delicious, but we would pass on the octopus next time. The service was great. The dining area was clean and spacious.

Best restaurant in Beaverton? I think so. My wife and I stopped in here on a whim one weekend when the kids were at grandmas. The style is modern and classic at the same time, a nice feat. The wait staff is knowledgeable and courteous and the food is amazing with the menu changing everyday. I must point out specifically the roasted red pepper soup. I admit when no one was looking, I totally licked my bowl clean. Wonderful.

Usually love this place. Have never had a bad meal here until yesterday..went for HH and ordered the burger. This was based on the bartender's recommendation of how "good" it was. First impression..a messy, glistening (greasy) soggy (bun) mess. First bite...beyond underdone, legit RAW, over sauced so greasy it was literally running off the plate. Sick!! The bartender asked me if I wanted a box...uh, no. Had him look at the burger, of which he admitted that it was not up to their standards and that a "new trainee" had prepared my burger...and would I care for another?? Never again. Spent the rest of the night sick as a dog from just a couple of bites from that wretched burger!! Unfortunately for them, I will never return. Fortunately for me, I'll save face and eat somewhere else.

"I wish Seattle suburbs had restaurants like this!" Yes, Portland's suburbs definitely have MUCH better food than Seattle. Decarli was a complete shocker and I was so incredibly impressed with the ambiance and quality of food. I found myself at Decarli on a Saturday night for their amazing, late night happy hour. I had their burger which was ginormous and a great price. The brioche bun was the perfect texture and the cheddar was gooey and sharp. The fries were fried to perfection and the dipping sauce they brought was fresh and light. My buddy and I also shared the steamed clams (yes, we were hungry) which were a huge portion and had been cooked very nicely. The saffron and fennel sauce was unexpected and a nice touch... different from your standard garlic/wine/lemon sauce. The grilled bread was also delicious and perfect to sop up the sauce. The ambiance was also close to perfection. Loved the hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, and open kitchen. For some reason I just like seeing my food being prepared. The one issue I had that prevents this place from 4 or 5 stars was our server, who also happened to be the bartender. He mixed some delicious drinks and was overall friendly but we could hear him speaking (very loudly) with other servers about his personal problems for a good chunk of the night. Sort of awkward.

I went here a couple years ago; it must have been less popular then because there were no lines at all at 7pm on a Friday night. Weird? Anyway, the food was phenomenal. I can't even begin to describe how good it was - the truffle spaghetti was one of the best meals of my life. I think there are a few things on the menu that are worthy of five stars; everything else I tasted was more like a four. But if you know what to order, this place is worth it.

The atmosphere is wonderful, esp. for a Beaverton restaurant. Had the polenta fries and enjoyed those very much. Waitress also suggested a nice wine too. Ordered the Short Ribs because I love good short ribs and from reading reviews, these were supposedly stellar. Not so. They were just ok. I was doing my best Top Chef impression and comparing to the short ribs at Three Doors Down which are STELLAR! These were a step above pot roast. The spaetzle (sp?) that was served along with tasted fine after you got past the initial greasy taste. It was a decent meal, just not a fabulous one.

Decarli feels like a Portland restaurant in the suburbs. High ceilings, open kitchen, dim lighting, and large windows. My friends and I walked in for dinner on a Wednesday night and surprisingly, it was very busy. We decided to sit at the bar instead of the dining area since there was a 30 minute wait. The drinks that they made were really good, I had the cool cuke that had cucumber infused vodka with a splash of soda and it was very refreshing. The downside was that we waited for a long time for our food to come out. We don't know if they forgot about our food or if they gave preference to the patrons at the dining area but we forgave them when we got our food. I had the gnocchi with truffle oil and it was very flavorful. I tried my friend's short rib with spaetzle which was very tender and also the seafood risotto which was also very good. Overall, the food and drinks are very good and remember to make reservations ahead of time!

I met a friend here for happy hour and the food was great. However, they had foie gras on the menu- I just can't support a place that buys and sells such a cruel product. If you are vegetarian, there are some decent menu options, but if you are vegan, you'll be out of luck.

You know a place is good when you walk into the restaurant already feeling sort of full and gross from vacation gluttony overload, but feel so wonderfully enticed by the menu and are incredibly happy with your food despite how you felt when you first arrived. Came here because of all the great Yelp reviews and didn't find it too crowded on a Sunday night, probably because everyone was out enjoying one of the remaining clear, warm summer weekend evenings. We opted for the awesome Sunday night happy hour menu and loved that there were so many fantastic offerings to choose from that didn't feel cheap in quality. The polenta fries with gorgonzola butter ($3.50) were incredible. Fantastic crunchy texture. My husband said they were like really upscale Cheetos, which makes them sound cheap but really, it was a compliment. The corn flavor, the crunch, the cheesiness infused into it all, made an amazing and unique combination for fries. The mixed greens salad ($3.50) was fresh, tossed in a very bright, light and refreshing vinaigrette. The roasted pork panini ($6) was meaty, and had some delicious cheese and pickles to balance it out, all on that wonderfully chewy toasty bread. The pizzetta with proscuitto and arugula was delicious with a wonderful thin, crispy but chewy crust. It was a very good-sized pizza for only $8! Our friend got the Decarli Burger ($8) which looked decadent, and it came with a full serving of shoestring fries on the side. She loved the burger. The decor is modern and classy with all the dark wood and candles. Bathrooms were very clean. Service was wonderfully warm and attentive. Happy hour prices for the quality and amount just couldn't be beat. Given that our stay in Oregon was very short, I am very happy that we found Decarli and enjoyed such a fantastic meal here!

Great food and atmosphere. We did not order anything that was short of spectacular! You must have the shortribs, knife not required. Parking can be a challenge, but we'll worth the search for the parking spot

Decarli is a wonderful find in a restaurant chain-filled suburbia. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. I went with a group of 4 on a Saturday night, so a reservation was a must and I couldn't get one until after 8pm at that. Street parking was relatively easy to find, but the neighboring streets do fill up. The service was phenomenal. I could have just as easily been in the Pearl or in New York City for that matter with this level of sophistication and truly superb service. Based on Yelp reviews, I started with the polenta fries and a lemon drop. The fries were cooked to perfection with the most wonderful gorgonzola butter along side. If you run your fry along the bottom of the cup, you get beautiful chunks of slightly melted gorgonzola and butter that is to die for. The lemon drop was very good as well, it had plenty of sugar contrary to another review I read. I moved on to a pasta dish that was well done, but maybe wasn't the right dish for me, I didn't love it, but it was good. The unfortunate thing was that all 4 of us ordered different dishes covering nearly half of that day's entree menu and we all felt the same way, it was good, but nothing I would rave about. Don't get me wrong, the food is very good, but I wanted it to be out of this world. The restaurant is noisy and it was difficult to carry on a table conversation until the rush of the evening started to die down, which made me glad that we were there at the end of the evening when things were calming down and people were clearing out. The quality of the food was fantastic, just needed a little something extra to bring it up to 'wow'. The ambience is great. The service is amazing. What a great little spot for us Westsiders.

Took my cranky 80something dad, my brother in law, my husband and the kid to Decarli on Father's day. This was our second trip. (Our first trip, everything was great except my husband's entree, but they handled it very well and we decided it was worth another try.) Let me say first that no one answered the phone there in the afternoon when I tried to call for reservations, so I left a voice mail at noon, which they returned at 4:30. By then we'd already left for the restaurant. It worked out though, it wasn't too crowded and they had us down for a table. What we ordered: Me: salad with balsamic ( in hopes kid would eat it, nope! she said dressing was not like mama's and refused it after one leaf, sigh, but it was a very nice salad). Also chicken under a brick, which was nicely crispy and perfectly seasoned, on a bed of creamy somewhat loose polenta, with pieces of asparagus, morel mushrooms, and baby carrots. I liked it, I think I would have liked the asparagus whole and veggies on the side rather than swimming in polenta, but it was tasty. I had a delicious drink, a ruby red drop ( like a lemon drop only grapefruit, that made my cranky dad seem less cranky). Highly recommend the drink. Shared a flourless chocolate cake with kid. She didn't like it. I thought it was just ok. Husband: Pork shoulder with escalarole and polenta. His polenta was crispy in a square chunk, he said it was good. His pork shoulder had a nice flavor and the escarole was crispy and flavorful. He had some kind of drink with rum and grapefruit juice ( kind of a theme for us that night). he liked it. He had a tiramisu for desert, proclaimed it good. Not awesome, but good. BIL and Dad: Gnocchi ( which I had to explain to them is a little potato pasta dumpling thingy) in a boar ragout. This came with parmesan grated on top. BIL liked it, thought it was very flavorful. Dad wanted more meat. Now, this is a theme of Dad's, I wouldn't go by what he said. A ragout is a sauce, it's supposed to be meaty but not like a slab of boar, so I think what he got looked and tasted quite nice. The gnocchi were perfectly tender and delicious. BIL had a "cool hand cuke" which had cranberry juice, cucumber vodka, cucumber slices, and sprite... he said it was refreshing. It was very pretty. He wished he'd gotten red wine instead though, because it would have gone better with his food. BIL did not have desert, nor did dad, BIL got a "chocolate port" which he proclaimed awesome. Kid: they handed her a kid's menu upon her arrival, which I felt very relieved about. There was no notice of a kid's menu on the website or on the regular menu so I was prepared to wing it, but they offered her a little yellow card with a couple kinds of panini, a pizza, or noodles with sauce or cheese. She had her usual noodles with cheese. She was very happy. The portion size was quite small though, and she was still hungry, so she ate a ton of bread. I think some steamed broccoli or baby carrots would have been helpful, just as a thought. I'm sure she doesn't care that there weren't veggies, however. The upset of the day was that they left us a long time with the desert menu, then came back and told us ( after we tried to order) that their gelato machine was broken. Now, gelato is the center of my daughter and husband's universe, and in retrospect we should have ended the meal accordingly and gone to get it elsewhere, but we made do and ordered sans frozen heavenliness. They could have a) told us this at the beginning when they handed us the menu or b) gone to New Season's and BOUGHT gelato for father's day ( lots of kids present in a pretty usually grown up restaurant, I'm just saying) or c) offered some other kind of alternative... regular vanilla ice cream? I don't know. This made kid sad, and after the chocolate flourless cake was not her idea of yummy, we took her to the Gelato place on Cornell on the way home for ice cream. We're nice parents like that. All in all, it was a good dinner, and it's a very nice place. Our server was wonderful, very friendly and even endured my dad's insistence that his meal lacked boar and his asking for "blue cheese" salad dressing ( he's old, I don't know how else to explain this) on his greens... which, they don't offer, BTW.he was cranky and cancelled his salad because of this. Many mutterings about the prices from him, too, even though we paid. I dunno. Maybe we should have taken him to Sharis???

You can't go wrong here! The closest thing to the food we experienced on our month-long travels in Italy! You MUST have the Wild Boar Ragu when it makes an appearance on the menu and the Salted Caramel Cheesecake. The servers are fantastic and knowledgable, the food is divine, the cocktails are inventive and fresh, and the wine list is ever-changing. It is a bit noisy but that's part of the whole energy. I have never had anything but an amazing experience here and we have been coming here for a few years now.

I have eaten at a Decarli three times. You could say three times at one establishment is fair or unfair. Twice, I had great food and impeccable service. Last time the cut of steak I had was so poor I sent it back. It was kind of a seasonal snag for the kitchen. I remember the whole beef market was affected. They couldn't control the gristle unseen. They responded aptly with some highly over cooked squid ink fettuccine. I sent that back too. Awesome staff handled our high maintenance group with grace and style. They comped my meals and drinks. I will certainly give them another shot. This place should make Beaverton proud.

It was nearly in unison that my husband said "I LOVE great service" and our out of town friend said "GREAT wait staff". Those comments were made somewhere between the salad course and entrees last Saturday night at DeCarli's. A literally packed house night, half an hour after the "Seven O'Clock Surge" as our friend calls it. And in spite of being absolutely full, both in the bar and dining room, our friend also remarked that he did not feel as if we were rushed by the wait staff even in the slightest over the course of the hour and forty five minutes that we enjoyed cocktails, dinner, wine and dessert. That kind of great service experience for diners doesn't happen by accident. It's an issue of quality service culture nurtured by the folks at the top. And it is not the work of a single server. It is the product of teamwork that grows out of that quality culture. Which is not to say food was delivered lightening fast. It wasn't. There were stretches between courses to enjoy conversation and the evening. Keep in mind that when a restaurant's house is packed it is likely that food coming out of the kitchen will be slower as the ktichen works to keep up with the orders. But the service was excellent for attention and for follow through with each course delivered as ordered and to the right person. No food auctioning here. (You know, that irritating..."Who gets the xxxx?"). In fact, when our waitress was tied up with another table, both Mark, who had been our server last time and memorable enough for us to remember his name, and hostess (owner?) teamed up to bring our entrees to our table to ensure they arrived hot. Or as in the case of our time in the bar when the bartender delivered the luscious cocktails himself to keep them from "dying" on the bar given the bar server was hopping to keep up with full house there. But good service is only part of the equation for such success as is enjoyed by DeCarli. (Remember the packed house.) Another component is the great ambiance. Primarily it is the remarkable food. Between the four of us we enjoyed... ... two cremini mushroom salads with lemon vinaigrette and grana padano, ...gnocchi with sugo and piave, ...brick roasted chicken filled with Italian cheese and served with escarole and polenta, ...mussels steamed in a broth of wine, saffron, cream and julienned fennel with fronds, ...tagliettele with wild mushrooms and house cured bacon, ...chocolate cake topped with whipped creme fraiche, ...a ramekin of cheesecake with salted caramel sauce on top. All of that wonderful food, two glasses of Rosso di Montelcino wine, six delectable cocktails (the ruby red martini and the pomegranate martini were especially good) and coffee to feed four people for only about $40 each. It was a great value for such special food, ambiance, libations and service. Which is why we look forward to going back again. And again. And once again it is worth noting the "all are welcome here" mix of diners of all ages and walks of life. We love it.

This was our second time here and the entire experience was not as good as we remember. Our waitress was flat - I asked about an item on the menu and she was no help. The server who brought out our food asked us more questions than she did. Our $6 side salad was just lettuce with a vinaigrette. The food was still tasty but not enough to visit again anytime soon.

I like Decarli. It is a bit of a gem in Downtown Beaverton - you would expect this restaurant downtown or on 23rd Street. I have been here a few times, and I am always pleasantly surprised by the food and the service. This time I started with a yummy cocktail, of which there are many from which to choose. Along with this my group shared the Polenta Fries with gorgonzola butter, and if you have never had this before, you should come to Decarli's just to try this. Delicious! My husband had the beet salad and my daughter-in-law had the butter lettuce salad. Both of them were very pleased with their choices. For dinner, my husband and I shared the salmon. My son is not eating meat right now and didn't quite care for the vegetarian choice, so our server went to the kitchen to see what they could make for him. What he got was all their fresh vegetables and pasta with a great sauce. We tried his food and we all liked it best, especially since the chef made it specially for my son. Don't miss dessert if you go there. Our favorite standard is the salted caramel cheesecake. We always get that, and this time our server (who was wonderful and friendly) recommended we also get the s'mores. You can't miss with either of these desserts, and you would be very happy if you got both. Yum yum. I'm a fan.

I'd consider this Beaverton's best restaurant - excellent food, great drink selection, good service, and always full of patrons. If you're just two people you can usually get into the bar at dinnertime and snag a table from which you can order off a pretty much full menu. Most times when we go in they are full up in the dining room with reservations - if not, you're going to have a long wait to get a table. If you want to go with a bigger group or for a special occasion and sit in the high ceilinged, well decorated dining room, you'll want to make sure to have a reservation. Some menu favs: - mussels - burger - Caesar salad - any pork dish They're only open for dinner, and the menu changes often. You won't regret a visit!

BEEF SHORTRIBS ~22 braised with espresso + dried prunes, creamy spaetzle, gremolata, fresh horseradish Loved the spaetzle although it was a tad floury. The deep red sauce was awesome and perfect for the complimentary bread.

Decarli is good but I feel it is overrated. It seems that management cares more about making this place exclusive and hard to get a table with their slow service and OK food. If you are willing to wait for this place I would say drive the extra 15 min and go to Portland. If this place was in Portland I don't think it would do as well due to competition.

Great service... But the BLT only had 2 pieces of bacon on it. Not worth the price they're asking

Decarli is DELICIOUS. Go here, you wont be disappointed. The short ribs are SO fantastic. The salad with butter lettuce, YUM. The bar menu and happy hour are both great. Nice wine, delicious cocktails. I have absolutely NO complaints about Decarli. Such a sweet little surprise in Beaverton :)

i had never been to this place; last night was my first time using it as a venue for a private party. was I happy! it was the first party I planned at this company where I am relatively new, and if it hadn't been for the excellent, accommodating, friendly, knowledgable DeCarli staff, this party couldn't have been the smash hit that it was. first, dealing with Priya Smith was a treat. she knows the limitations of their private space (no microphone use is possible, the space is a basic rectangle), but has loads of ideas about how to arrange the room to suit your party (in my case, a cocktail-type affair for a retiring colleague). also, she doesn't try to control the affair; she listens to your ideas, advises, and recommends, but at no point did it seem like things had to go the decarli way, or not at all [I've had that experience before]. additionally, she has done enough of these parties to know what layouts will work if you have no idea, AND she knows about realistic consumption vs. number of people expected. the latter asset is useful when keeping one's budget in mind. second, the appointed staff. they let me take over the place. they brought me what I needed, suggested items that might help (a small table for a projector we had), and generally made themselves invisible, but always available. Magic! the food - shut up. SO good. short rib, and salami and cheese cocktail sandwiches on toasted focaccia, polenta fries [and I am KICKING myself for not trying the gorgonzola butter - I didn't know that's what it was!], a near-perfect Caesar salad [needed more parmesan, but that's just me], pizzas whose toppings I couldn't identify beyond the cheese, and whose crusts were perfect, shrimps (scampied?), and delicate antipasto that included sweet pickled zucchini. OH, and the wine! I never knew the magic of a blend before the Notebook Red that Priya recommended - delightful! I imagine that their regular dining is great as well; I couldn't say. but if you're thinking about a place to have a really nice, classy, but laid back private event, don't hesitate - call these people.

This was a solid dining experience, good Italian food, good service, and a very nice place. My only complaint was the menu could have had a few more options, regardless, I'll definitely be going back.

How can I put it? This place would be really perfect for a romantic date night, but not for us who walked in with a couple of hungry and restless kids who were ready to eat a horse the moment they walked in (especially with two out of three being boys) Though I've been to Italy once, I'm not familiar with "Italian" foods past pasta, gnocchi, pizzas and gelati. So you figure I probably could not fully appreciate the food. The salad was great. You can't beat the hand-made croutons. So was the bread they bring to you before your food arrives. And the appetizer my friend ordered (mm.. what's the name of it? it's three slices of French(?Italian?) bread each loaded with different things) was just to die for. The two boys (aged 8 and 6) shared a pizza from kids' menu and it was more than plenty. I ordered a Chitarra and it was very new to me. It was much more creamy and heavy than I expected. Maybe we should try the happy hours some time.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!! Thank you to the owners of Decarli for bringing the heart of Bay Area, CA cuisine to Oregon, and specifically, to Beaverton. This is by far the best place I have eaten in Beaverton (and one of the best in all of Portland, really - and I've eaten at most of the "hot spots" here). The food is full of love. You can literally taste the passion for flavor and the way food can transcend you to another place in everything. Decor is simple, yet just the right amount of trendy. It's hopping in there, but they make you feel special regardless of being busy. Server Cameron was ON POINT and the bus boy (did not get his name) was amazing. Cocktails are innovative and mixed well. Wine list has diversity at the right price points and goes well with the food - you can tell thought was put into it. Menu is creative and detailed. They mix the new food revolution with what has been tried and true really well. It should not be surprising that I say our experience was amazing at this point in the review. Both of us loved every single sip of our cocktails and wine, and every bite of our food. I really can't say enough about this place. I am so, so happy it is here and wish the owners nothing but success.

I've lived in Beaverton for 30 years and this was my first visit to Decarli. It will definitely NOT be my last. Very nice layout. My wife and I partook of happy hour and sat at the bar. There's an open kitchen next to the bar. Fun watching all the dishes being prepared. The bartender was really friendly and even though he was working his tail off he managed to converse with us. I had the steak panini. There wasn't a thing wrong with it but after I sampled my wife's short rib sandwich I decided THAT is my sandwich from here on in. Over the top delicious!! We also had the polenta fries with gorgonzola butter. I highly recommend these and you get plenty of them. Prices were reasonable . There is a nice dining area as well. We'll try that next time. Decarli definitely lives up to all these good reviews you're reading on Yelp.

The food makes me give this restaurant 4 stars, although other aspects of the restaurant didn't impress as much. When we arrived we wanted to do HH. The guy who greeted us was not super friendly and gave us a weird vibe right from the beginning. I don't like the fact that there are only certain seats that you can order from the HH menu, but we elected to sit outside since it was a nice day. Service after that was fine, except we got charged regular menu prices instead of HH prices and had to send the bill back. Also, our server made some comment about the food runner not being allowed to take our order when all he was doing was trying to give us the best service he could...just a little weird. As for the food, it was delicious. We started with the polenta fries which were very rich but absolutely divine...like super high class french fries. We had the pizza with proscuitto, corn, and basil oil on it and it was spectacular. Thin, flavorful, and an appropriate amount of toppings. We also had the short rib sandwich. Not the same bang for your buck as the pizza but very delicious as well. Overall it was a tasty enough meal to maybe bring me back and ignore the rest of the experience.

What a pleasant surprise. I had little expectation of this place, partly due to location, but I was proven incorrect. I judged the Miss Washington County Scholarship Pageant yesterday and had our judges dinner here before the 2nd part of the competition. Decarli is owned by a married couple and the wife was a former Miss Oregon. Otherwise I'd have never found this gem of a place. MIXED GREENS For a seemingly simple salad, it was vibrant with flavor. The dressing is made of oil, vinaigrette and lemon juice. Pending how bitter each individual plate is from the mixed greens, the combination was perfect. Both are lightly tossed together which I loved, I hate gobs of dressing on the top layer. SEA BASS I'm not sure if I've ever had sea bass before, if so it wasn't memorable enough. Seared and served with the skin over a bed of (I have no clue what it's called) over sized looking chewy couscous. Great flavors and texture combos. Other judges dishes that I snagged bites of... GNOCCHI Served with a smoked pork ragu ... the presentation could have been better as it was just 'poured' onto the plate without form. Great flavor but the gnocchi was a bit over cooked. Usually with a slightly chewy consistency, it was more soft/mushy. Not my favorite gnocchi dish but decent. BEEF SHORTRIBS I love to slow cook shortribs so I am a harsh critique. The spin Decarli plays on this dish is the expresso ingredient. Unsure of how they'd blend I didn't order this dish. It works though! It's not too heavy of an expresso taste and pairs well with the prunes. Savory and hearty. Really great wine selections for bottles and by the glass. I ordered a dry italian blend which still went decent with the sea bass (I ordered the wine first or I wouldn't have chosen a red). The other judges got dirty martinis which all said were crafted well.

The host was incredibly rude, while the service was slow and inattentive. It was 7pm on Sunday December 1st and the restaurant was 1/3 full. I had requested to not be seated right next to the host counter where people would be walking back and forth. Instead, the host lies to me and tells me all the other tables are reserved. There were at least 10 tables open. By 7:30 pm there were 4 more tables and by 8 pm we were now back down to 1/3 full. The entire back half didn't have a single patron seated. Our server was friendly but she disappeared for long clips at a time. The server was somewhat busy so I don't fault her but the host was such a jerk and I hate liars, making the overall experience very negative. His only job is to make customers feel welcome and seat them. He failed miserably and I won't be coming back. Regarding the food, the short ribs were pretty good, the accompanying spaetzle was over seasoned and a little too buttery. The chicken entree was only ok. Didn't order more cause we wanted to get out of there. The additional star is for the modern decor and decent short ribs.

What a wonderful find ... quite a large space. Service was great - all three ordered the short ribs with creamy spaetzle and gremolata, fresh horseradish ... YUM ... I found myself taking very very small bites - I wanted it to last as long as possible... checked in with my table companion - he was doing the same thing! The others had the caesar salad, amazing. I had the tuna tartare - amazing. Highly recommended.

We celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary here while visiting in the Northwest. We've been traveling to the Beaverton area every year for 20+ years and this is definitely the best restaurant so far. It's kind of noisy because of the architecture (hard floors/brick walls) but that also adds to the energy level. The pastas are house made (there was one that wasn't and the server let us know that in advance), the braised short ribs were delicious and tender, and the bricked chicken was very good too. Desserts were scrumptious: we tried the salted carmel cheesecake, house made donuts and the brownie sundae. (FYI, I posted a picture of these.) The service was relaxed and efficient. We highly recommend the place and would give it 4 1/2 stars. The only minus would be because of the noise level, which makes conversation difficult.

In one word, WOW. I LOVED this place. I just had dinner at Decarli for the first time last night and was amazed by the food, the service, and the great wine. The chef modifies the menu daily so there are specials and variations on their main dishes. We started with a simple appetizer of gourmet olives with their bread and a nice Chianti, a perfect start. I had the Oven-Baked Brick Chicken served over the most amazing combination of squash and spinach among other things. The flavors were really complex and every bite was a unique experience. My date had the Espresso-Braised Short Ribs and they were melt-in-your-mouth delicious too. My date asked if it would be inappropriate to lick the plate when he was finished. I don't think it would have been inappropriate, it was that good. We finished the meal by sharing the cheesecake which was served in a bowl covered in caramel glaze sprinkled with sea salt that was just as good as it sounds. I'm adding this place to my list of favorites and can't wait to go back.

Always the best service, right atmosphere and most delicious and interesting menu items. We've eaten here 5-6 times and it never disappoints. Friendly but not overbearing, the wait staff always does a great job. The food, especially their signature short ribs is always top notch. Among the PDX areas top 5 italian restaurants tucked away in sleepy downtown Beaverton. A gem!

Decarli. Sounds sexy. We were excited to eat here. We walked in and were seated immediately. The patrons were mainly business people meeting for dinner and older women dining with their girlfriends. The ambiance was nice. Cute lighting, a giant chandelier over the large dining table, art displayed on the walls. The menu was promising. Various selections for all palates and reasonably priced salads for those favoring a lighter meal. We started with polenta fries and gorgonzola butter. It's a small portion, but just enough for 2 people. I do recommend letting the butter cool so it's more like a dip than a liquid. I chose the pork shoulder and the boyfriend chose the brick chicken with italian sausage. The flavors were good, but I had to remove the nut mixture on top. It was far too salty. The rest of the dish was great. Some sections of the pork were a little more chewy than others. The apples were roasted perfectly and my pork was cooked the way I like it. However, I would've selected my boyfriend's dish instead. The chicken was exceptional mixed with the italian sausage. The flavors were more comforting and the chicken came off the bone easily. The service was sweet, but a little slow. There were tables with more guests, so I do understand. We like having nice restaurants in close proximity, so this is on our list of top restaurants in the 'burbs.

This indeed is one of my favorite places here in Beaverton. I stumbled onto the restaurant on a Tuesday night. Alas, it is closed. Should I have checked their operating hours, I would have not wasted gas. So now while I'm bit surpjlrised by their prices. I can say, it is worth it. And that us me. You should try it for yourself. I wasn't expecting a happy hour but there is and their menu is quite small. Small but terrible. Terribly good if I may say. I've had the Caldoce for drinks. It has raspberry, so that alone is already a winner in my book. There's also an added heat infused in the drink which makes it somewhat controversial to an untrained or unsophisticated drinker. I've ordered their decarli burger which is very tasty. It comes with fries that are on the salty side. Then one of the neatest and probably a better Caesar's Salad was served. It is light but tasty enough. Worthy of being written here. The place is easy to spot. Along Watson Ave., look for the hippie looking spot. Once you've passed by the Korean establishments, you need to look for parking as you've already passed by the brick building. No, Decarli is not hippie nor trying to be hip. Decarli is Decarli. It looks like it gets populated as the night progresses. I left at around 6 and people are flocking in. And yes, THIS is in BEAVERTON.

Finally made it in to check this place out. To tell you the truth, it really isn't my normal sort of dining. This place is a perfect "meet the parents" or "E-Harmony 2nd Date" or "Grandparents 61st Wedding Anniversary" sort of place. The clientele looks like the same group of people I would expect to meet at a Rick Santorum or a Mitt Romney Political Rally... not really my crowd. That being said... the food was fantastic. Let's face it, Beaverton isn't a very welcoming environment for restaurants, especially those perceived as fine dining. So the owner and management of this place are forced to walk an extremely thin line here. If they are too formal they are going to be accused of being "that snobby place". Too casual and they risk alienating a large part of their core demographic and betraying the fantastic food and atmosphere. In the end, their staff and the training and experience they have are going to either make or break this place. It seemed to me they are doing a fantastic job with this aspect of the business. Everyone I dealt with was professional, yet warm and inviting. They were knowledgeable without being snooty. The management had a clear prescence and even stoped to chat with us for a couple minutes (always a good sign). All that aside... the food... the food we had was stellar. I had the Shortribs recommended by the server. Rich, decadent, amazing! She had the Gnocci, which were cooked perfectly. Both just outstanding dishes that I could only recreate in my dreams. I look forward to coming back, though it may not be for 6 months. It's so very nice to have a decent modern independent restaurant so close to home! Great Job!

Top-notch establishment...especially for the Beaverton area. Nice setting, professionally-trained staff, well prepared food at reasonable prices. Our party of three had cocktails and three courses...cost: $45 ea. plus gratuity. Wine list was extensive with most bottles in the $20-$30 range. The food was very carefully prepared and a lot of attention to details (well matched combinations of ingredients expertly executed)...only negative: the house specialty, beef short ribs, was overdone by a bit and hence stringy...shouldn't be like that...hence not 5 stars...but a very solid 4 stars!

Great place in downtown Beaverton. It's nice to have this option instead of having to go to downtown Portland for good food. I'll definitely be coming back to try out more dishes. POLENTA FRIES ($6) : Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served with gorgonzola butter. Yummy combo~ BRUSCHETTA ($8) : It comes with three different types of bruschetta : goat cheese, chicken liver mousse, and pea puree. I like the idea of having different flavors, but I wasn't a big fan of the actual choices. My brother really liked it though. BEEF SHORTRIBS ($19.50) : The shortribs braised in epresso were super flavorful, but a little on the salty side for me. This was probably my favorite dish of the night. TAGLIATELLE ($17) : Loved the pasta dish, but also found it a bit salty for my taste.h

Happy hour with friends at DeCarli last night was great! Service was fantastic!! I showed up right at 6pm, so I missed out on ordering from their awesome happy hour menu, but now I have something to look forward to when I come back next. FYI, not much seating in the bar and there was a wait the entire 2 hours I was there. So if you want a table, get there early!

Decarli is a restaurant that smashes every stereotype you might have about food in Beaverton. This is food, decor, and atmosphere that would be popular in any of Portland's hippest neighborhoods, but placed inconspicuously in downtown Beaverton. The decor is all bare brick walls and exposed-beam ceilings, yet somehow the noise level in the cavernous dining room was manageable. The prices are very reasonable, and the food is very high quality and well-prepared. The dishes are seasonal, regional, and well-conceived. My husband had the braised short ribs, which were savory, rich and perfectly textured. I had the Copper River salmon filet, which arrived with bright pink flesh & perfectly-crisped skin, over summer squashes. They also serve fantastic desserts (oh hello, salted caramel cheesecake, served in a bowl for easy sharing & scooping!) and espresso drinks, and have an extensive wine list, including many dessert/after-dinner libations like port, brandy and single-malt scotch. I can't find a single thing to complain about with Decarli, except that they were far more busy than we ever would have expected them to be on a Sunday evening. We definitely need to get back there for the happy hour served in the bar area, and SOON.

Great food at surprisingly reasonable prices! We sat on the bench at the window on the bar side. It was very relaxed but with an upscale feel. I would definitely go again, especially to show my guests that Beaverton can do chic just as much as Portland.

I'm going to figure that last night was just a bad night but I'm surprised that Decarli didn't comp something. We arrived right on time and were seated immediately. Our server came quickly but from then on the delays were constant. Our salads arrived almost exactly one hour after we arrived. Now I really like a restaurant that doesn't rush you through the dinner but this was a little too much. It took another thirty minutes for the entrees to get to the table. Starving!! The food, as usual, was delicious but the delay was unacceptable. I really by this time would have expected the server to say that our drinks or something was to be complimentary. She finally said that she was sorry for the delay, but that was it. I will go back, but I sure hope these delays were just a bad night.

As it's been said a bunch in previous reviews, probably the prettiest upscale dining experience in Beaverton. Great ambiance and they can accommodate large groups. The bartender can make some killer drinks and yes those polenta fries are still on my mind, deliciously mind blowing. Our server was attentive and sweet. I ordered up the pork shoulder and must say it was not that great at all. Over salted, tough and too charred, I left most of it. The waitress was nice about it and offered a free dessert so I got the salted carmel cheesecake, but it came in a cup with no crust, another disappointment. I gave them 4 stars when I really wanted to go 3.5 but I figured maybe I ordered the wrong thing or things we off in the kitchen, either way I will be back to give them another try. Happy hour maybe :)

Don't let the Beaverton location fool you, this is a Pearl caliber restaurant! I purchased a gift card for my parents to Decarli after a tip from someone. At first I wasn't sure but the actual inside of the restaurant looked nice and much like a Portland restaurant downtown. I ended up going to dinner with my parents and all of us were surprised how good it was. The wine selection was very good. Waitress did a great job discussing their importer from Seattle and explained how they only import from small vineyards in Italy/Spain. Wine was reasonably priced and there was a decent selection. We started with appetizers, olives/bruschetta, which are both a must have. The bruschetta was actually the best I've have in a long time. It comes with three different types on toasted bread, which was perfect to share between the three of us. The house marinated olives were also delicious with a hint of mint/spearmint. For dinner we had the braised beef short ribs, tuna, and spaghetti with meatballs. There was plenty of food on the plate, great presentation, and flavor combinations. All their entrees had something different in it that was a new food combination that I had not tried. The only reasons I did not give 5 stars is because our service was split mid meal. Our waitress handed off our table to another waitress, which caused an interruption in our dining. All in our party also commented after dinner that our entrees were more salty than we would have liked. If you don't want to go downtown/Pearl for dinner, and your looking for the same atmosphere, Decarli is a must try. Trying their happy hour is next on my list!

Got to say that in the Beaverton area....the best food in Town. If there is a short fall, its the menu. Most Nights only 6-8 options for dinner. However each option is first class and cooked to perfection. I have been in the Beaverton area for 30+ years and this is some of the best food I have had. The service was great, never had to wait for a thing. Had the steak, it was perfect. My wife has the crab fettuccini which was the special for the night. She said it was special. Once again a possible short fall, it was 6:00 in the evening and there was only 4 left for the night. So if you are headed this way, plan early. With all the places we have been in the Portland area...when I asked my wife "where do you want to go for your birthday", she picked Decarli. Well done ! Thanks to all for a special night.

Each time I've visited, I've really wanted to like Decarli, and I think I mostly do. I've been here twice now- once for late night happy hour before a movie and once for a proper dinner and I have to be honest and say I preferred the former. My boyfriend and I ordered the polenta fries with gorgonzola butter (something I personally haven't encountered before and probably our favorite to date) and the meatballs along with some drinks and left satisfied and satiated. The entire happy hour menu is actually quite extensive and all of the food served is available in the dining room during the main hours but is considerably cheaper (Decarli in general is pretty pricey). Being a recent college grad, this of course appeals to me. For dinner the other night I ordered the Fettucine Nero (being a huge sucker for Dungeness crab) and found it to be pleasant enough, but nothing amazing. Boyfriend ordered the pork shoulder and said it was pretty good but again certainly not out of the ordinary. I will say though that both times we found the service to be excellent and the vibe was/is extremely welcoming and warm. With all that being said, Decarli is the kind of place I can see myself returning to but probably only for happy hour when the offerings are more reasonable in price and perhaps a bit more casual.

To be honest I just didn't care for what I ordered. The chef cooked the salmon to a medium which made it very soft but bland. The purée inter it was a very odd flavor and didn't feel right for my fish. The potatoes were pretty good but if all I can say that is that the potatoes were the best part of my dish then it's plain to see I should have ordered something else. The avocado bruschetta was very good though! It was pricy but understandable. My husband said his stake was very good but was annoyed that he could not order off the bar menu in the dining room. He's a picky eater and the bar menu had more options for him. Luckily our waiter was able to modify his order to stake and fries. I doubt we will be back, but mostly because it just wasn't our kind of place. Also, not very baby friendly.

Came here last Saturday. We drove in from Seattle and were starving. We chose this place based on the reviews and because it is one of the only places open so late on Saturday. Let's see. Service was slow. It took a good 10-15 minutes before getting our drinks. A beer and I had the mango jalapeño margarita based off the waitress's suggestion. Both were good. We ordered the polenta fries with Gorgonzola butter or something like that. It took a while but was decently tasty. We waited forever for the entrees, a bruschetta trio, and a falafel panini. Both were OK, but nothing fantastic. It lacked flavor and I didn't understand why it took so long. We asked for the check, and to get it, pay, and get change, it was another 15 minutes. The seats were uncomfortable, too high in comparison with the table. And tables were super close together. Everyone working there seemed quite stuck up. Will not be going back on our next visit.

Hands down, one of the best restaurants in Beaverton. Why? 1. The food tastes amazing. Order the Polenta fries for an appetizer, followed by the Chitarra and Shortribs for your main course. Finish your meal with the salted caramel cheesecake. You will love it. Promise. 2. A restaurant in the Pearl would probably charge double for the same dishes served at Decarli. Seriously, the prices aren't bad for what you get. Totally worth it in my opinion. 3. Service is exceptional. The staff knew our names by the third visit. They aren't too pushy in trying to upsell either. Water and drinks were replenished in a timely manner, and all points of service (I used to work in a restaurant) were sufficiently met. The only issue I have with Decarli is its ambiance. It tends to get noisy in the dining room, mainly because the acoustics allow anything and everything to reverberate. Generally not ideal if you're trying to have an intimate conversation. They should put some carpeting down to absorb the noise. ---------------------------------------------------------------- TIP: Make reservations as early as possible. This place gets crowded, even on weeknights.

I'm a supporter of small businesses and restaurants in unlikely corners, like the burbs. I like to be a fan and say, Yes, you did a great job! Please stay open! It's hard to make money on a restaurant and I admire the panache of foodies who open them. I don't want to be a downer, but I need to tell you: This place isn't fooling me. The all-night happy hour seemed like a great idea, but it turns out the food is leftovers from the week and not fresh. The chicken in my sandwich didn't taste fresh, the salad greens had withered ends. There was also a produce STICKER still on the sliced pear in my sandwich. I'm so glad it fell apart when I picked it up so I noticed. They kindly corrected my date's overcooked burger. That happens very often, I can forgive that. The sticker sticks with me though. Saving grace: a very good cocktail called La Paloma, although the lime was probably sliced a day ago or more.

I have been trying soooo hard not to write this review!!! I want sooo badly to LOVE or even LIKE Decarli but alas it's just not meant to be...At all. Ever. and I have tried, I promise!!! So let's start with the positive...The decor is amazing, so fun and classy and dresses downtown Beaverton up. They don't have a parking lot but street parking has never been a problem. The lemon puff-pastry dessert is AMAZING or sadly was as of May 2015 they had taken it off the menu. The cons...I don't even know where to start? I have been four times and each time the bill doesn't match the service or the quality of the food, but mostly the service. I will just focus this review on my most recent experience: 5/18/2015: THE NOISE level!!! During happy hour and dinner hours it is so noisy you cannot hear the person next to you. Our waiter had to yell at us and ended up spitting all over my Mom, so gross. We had to ask for bread while we waiting a ridiculously long time for our meals. My Mom and Dad both ordered the salmon. My Dad's was perfect. My Mom's was really under cooked and smelled so fishy. I'm a vegetarian and my sister is Vegan/Gluten Free (not by choice) I made sure when making the reservation that the hostess knew of our dietary needs and she said it wouldn't be a problem, which it obviously was as the chef took no liberty to accommodate and we both ended up with really boring but expensive salads. Did I mention that our waiter is a spitter..We covered our drinks and food every time he came near, which lucky and unlucky for us wasn't that often. When our meals came they were all set in front of the wrong people, they were dropped and just left so we had the pleasure of rearranging our dishes across the table, which wouldn't be a big deal if the prices weren't $25-$35 a plate. When you pay that kind of money you expect a certain kind services and attention to detail, not a drop and run. After a really unpleasant and stressful dining experience we were all just really looking forward to the lemon pastry puffs, which sadly we were informed had been taken off the menu..like salt on an open wound. When going over the bill my Dad noticed that the server took the liberty to add his gratuity to the check. Yes there were 6 adults in our party. However, only 3 ordered actual dinner items. The rest of us ordered sides. The service and the food ABSOLUTELY DID NOT MATCH the % of gratuity that was added, it was so offensive. We were going to stop and talk to the restaurant manager but after waiting for 10+ minutes we just wanted to get out of there. DID I MENTION THIS WAS MY MOM'S 60TH BIRTHDAY? She was not a happy birthday girl...We were all to disheartened to be mad. Like I said, I really want to like this place. It's so awesome to have a hot spot in the middle of Beaverton. But the prices compared to service and inconsistency in food has offended on so many occasions, I just can't make excuses anymore. I'm giving one star...I really want to give negative stars but that's not an option and since the decor and building are so fantastic that should count for something.

Service was bad on February 21, 2015. My party of four arrived at 5pm, the hostess told us no seats were available until 8:30 (three and a half hours later!) but that we could wait for a happy hour table. Twenty minutes passed and we were still standing. A table cleared and some people who had JUST walked in asked the hostess if they could take the table. The hostess told them they could take the table even though we had been standing there for 20 minutes. She clearly had no idea what was going on. The food was good but the service was so bad that we will not be going back.

The food was good. The service not so much. Arrived Thursday night at 8pm. Asked the hostess for a table for two. The dining room was half empty, she takes a peek in there, and says no tables are available (seriously?), then proceeds to tell me to go find a table at the bar. We didn't want to sit in the bar, so we said we will wait and we waited another 10 minutes. I finally waved down a bar waitress and asked her why are there no tables available in the dining room when it is half empty, she went and talked to another lady who might have been the manager and then came over and apologized and they seated us right away. What the heck? The food was good. The Pork Shoulder was excellent. Although the service is very poor, they didn't even offer us any bread, till we specifically asked for it. For an establishment such as this, they desperately need to hire better help.

Food was good and service fine, but for the money, I expected a bit better all-around experience. We arrived 5 minutes late for our reservation, but still had to wait 5 minutes for our table. Then it took a while before anyone poured water, came to get our drink order, etc. The first thing the waitress did was advise of several items that were sold out. Fortunately, none were the items we wanted, but I thought it strange they should be out of so much by 8:30 on a Saturday night. Not the best start, but service went better from there. I had polenta fries, which were delicious, but I wish they were served with a different condiment. Mussels were fine, but not remarkable. The short ribs were delicious, although under-seasoned (no problem since there's salt on the table). Fettucine Verde was good (again, under-seasoned), but the portion was small. Salad greens were fresh and delicious. Dessert was ok--profiteroles would have been better if they hadn't run out of pistachio gelato. I ordered the salted caramel cheesecake, but had to send it back due to burnt caramel that ruined the whole dish. As others mentioned, it's very noisy inside. We might go back if in the area, but it's not worth a special trip. Not a bad spot, though.

Fiance and I wanted to find a new place to go out on a date and a nice Italian restaurant seemed like an obvious choice. We arrived right at 5pm when they opened and were told that all of their tables were already reserved but that we could sit outside or at the bar. Since it was a beautiful day we decided that outside would be fine with us. We were seated promptly and had our drinks ordered quickly as well. After checking out the menu selection (the seafood dishes were a little pricey and the selection was a little limited) we selected our choices. I wanted the mussels dish but apparently they were out which I felt was odd since they had Just opened 15 minutes ago. I settled for the decarli burger with fries instead and my fiance got one of their pizzas. Our food came to us fairly quickly and it was very good! I enjoyed the burger and especially loved the crispy flavorful fries. My fiance also enjoyed his meal but wished that the bottom crust had been a little thicker. We passed on dessert but otherwise had a very lovely time! The only thing that bothered us was that the trees around the outside seating were shedding off little pieces of plant and flower in a constant steam into our drinks and food. But that's not really the restaurant's fault and a little extra fiber never hurts. ;) If you're looking for a nice semi-formal, respectively priced Italian restaurant then we recommend it. Just be sure to make a reservation in advance!!

Wow the reviews don't lie the short ribs are AMAZING! They were served over really good pasta.. The service was top notch..would have like a better dessert menu! I will be back

It's a Friday night and we were looking for a place to have dinner. We called Pok Pok to see the wait times and they were over 2 hours. Got similar answers at other Portland hotspots. So we decided to give Decarli a chance since we had heard good things and it isn't in the epicenter of Hipster eateries. Best decision we could have made! Our table sounded like the set of a gangbang with all the moans we kept letting out with each new dish. Polenta Fries: it's literally the lovechild of grits and french fries. What the hell is there not to like? Bruschetta: Three very different flavor profiles that all worked wonderfully well. I fell in love with the curry one, but the salmon was a refreshing after bite that I wasn't expecting. Brick Chicken: I cook at home a fair amount and getting moist (while still flavorful) chicken breast is still a restaurant mystery to me. Well, kinda...I know the answer is more salt and fat. Either way, this bird is definitely the word. Beef Short Ribs: I'm pretty sure Berlin wrote the song "Take My Breath Away" about this dish. It was rich, sweet, and salty all at once. And of course, it was tender. If that wasn't enough, it came with spaetzle! Fucking spaetzle! Without a doubt, this was by far the best meal I've had this year. That's saying something, cause I've eat at a lot of great places in the bay and LA. God, I'm totally being THAT guy right now. But it's true! It wouldn't be shocking that my best meal would take place in Portland. A suburb that Portlandians scoff at for being a hub for corporate culture though? Yeah, didn't see that coming. Well done Decarli!

I feel so fortunate I don't have to go downtown Portland to get bomb Italian food! People in Beaverton if you like good Italian then come to Decarli! I highly advise it and you won't be disappointed. Excellent service & food

Went here on Friday with a hungry bunch of friends. ..about 6 of us at prime dinner time around 7pm. We were lucky enough to only have to wait roughly 15 minutes for a table and received prompt service. The food was fantastic. The short ribs were like the star bursts of meat...so good and flavorful. The gnocchi was the equivalent of putting memory foam pillows inside your body. This is exactly what more places outside inner circle Portland need. Great atmosphere and great food. Will definitely go back.

If you are looking for a wonderful dining experience in the heart of Beaverton, look no further than Decarli. This is a dining establishment that simply smolders with excellence. I have been here many a time for happy hour, dinner and even a private event and left enchanted and stuffed with Italian goodness every time. Oh how I love thee, let me count the ways... I love the pizzeta with mozarella, basil, roasted garlic. I adore their risotto. You can't beat those delicate meatballs, except with maybe the polenta fries with gorgonzola butter. What else do I love here? Their taplist. And the cocktails. Pretty much everything. It's way more affordable than you would guess when walking through the door. It's typically busy, but always worth the wait. It can be intimate and romantic, yet also casual enough to catch a few bites with friend at HH. Just go and be delighted.

Don't Bother We made reservations for 5:30 to beat the crowd. We're seated right away, ordered around 6:00, got our salads at 6:30, we were offered bread AFTER we were done with the salads, then got our main courses at 6:55. Food was good, service a tad slow, kitchen obviously overwhelmed. On a Saturday night that is bad planning. Ambience is terrible, we had a table for two and had to raise our voice to have a conversation. Decarli aims to be a high-end restaurant, but slow service and beer hall atmosphere don't make this a restaurant for a pleasant dinner.

One of the best Happy Hours in Beaverton. Drinks are really well made, it's a great atmosphere, and the food is well worth it. I love bringing co-workers or friends for Happy Hour. Everyone is always impressed! Never had bad service! You will not be disappointed!

I went to Declari with my husband and a couple friends. The food was delicious and our server was very good at her job. My only complaint is that they got our food confused with someone else's and brought their food to us. Then they realized their mistake and took it away. That was a little awkward.

Wife and myself went on a saturday night and the place was busy. The ambience was good and we were seated promptly. The menu is dated and short which is awesome. I had the bruschetta and my wife had the Farfalle. The bruschetta came in 3 distinct flavors and we loved it. The farfalle was perfect, not overcooked and not very salty. Will definitely visit again to try other entrees.

Not as good as I remember -- disappointed! CONS I had met friends here for happy hours right after work in the past so we decided to come back for a late happy hour for drinks. Late night happy hours start at 9pm-til close. Surprised to find it's not as good as it use to be! I thought it might have just been a bad cocktail that I ordered, which was called a New Fashioned, but everyone's drinks were watered-down because there was so much ice and so little of the actual beverage or alcohol. Especially disappointing when you are paying on average $8-$10 for a cocktail. We ordered food to but it was pretty mediocre. The fries where the only tasty thing. PROS The entire place was pretty empty at 9pm so it was quiet. Ambience is nice. There are better happy hour options so we won't be back again.

The Palento fries are delicious and different! They serve it with salted warm butter. I asked the waiter how they made the fries and he kindly told me that it was corn grit and explained the process briefly. What really amazed me was the texture of the fries! That's why I asked. I found out the fries aren't made with potatoes at all but from corn and some seasoning! I was mind blowned. Decarli is definitely a unique restaurant. Their main dishes are mindblowing as well. The Fettuccine Nero pasta has black noodles. The waiter told us they made it from scratch and they used squid ink to make it black. The noodles are delicious and the sauce is lightly and perfectly seasoned. The Chitarra pasta was also amazing. The creamy pasta had unique noodles as well and it is quite hard to describe. They also made those from scratch and it was cooked al dente. My dad's plate was pork and it was 2x more expensive than the pasta. Pretty much the most expensive on the menu. I thought his dish tasted pretty good as well. I forgot the name of the dish though :( . The atmosphere was great and relaxing. I ate with my dad and sister and we were really enjoying the place. The waiter, we forgot his name, but he was so professional, friendly, and classy! Haha this gentleman's hair was parted and combed to the side looking really classy. His posture was straight, humble, and his eyes and face were calm and very gentlemen-like. LOOOLL Basically every part of his gesture and movement were very professional mannered. So natural... My dad said that he definitely takes his job seriously and passionately. Great waiter. We had short friendly chats and found out he was from Washington. Great service and very attentive. I really wanted to try their desserts but I was so full!

Sidewalk tables on a slightly brisk fall evening, but the sunshine, rare, to be taken advantage of. Except, it's full...so inside I go. The bar, a few tables, the hostess, and the open kitchen serves as the backdrop. On the loud side if your sensitive), perfect otherwise at happy hour. The large dining room is 2-3x the size your thinking of, is mix of rustic, open ceiling and exposed pipes with Edison bulbs and brass colored chandeliers. Wood floors, wood tables, and wood chairs -- yep, it's woodsy. It's also on the dark side, no not like True Blood, it borders romantic and inappropriate business dinner dining (for which I am here for). It's informal, but nice. The 1-page clipboard menu was accompanied by duck fries (I wish), actually by 2 hard plastic "other" menus: a wine list, a cocktail one. Not the nicest of table presentations, but the 2 lit candles helped. My dinner mates showed up, and the yelp writing had to be set on pause. Food and drink and dessert, on the other side of this (Italian) mountain (or is it alps?). --- A starter pizza: fennel sausage, potato, rapini, rosemary, chili. The crust is fabulous. Short Rib: braised with espresso + dried prunes, creamy spaetzle, gremolata, and fresh horseradish. Super good, super soft. In summary, worthy of your time and energy.

Great atmosphere. Food was served cold. And our food order was messed up. Because of the price of the food I would have expected a more apologetic response to our complaints and a quick fix. This place could be great. Service needs to be more professional and not defensive. We just wanted a good meal and unfortunately didn't get one.

Love the food, consistently excellent and the best place in Beaverton by far!!! Get the mussels and risotto and you will not regret it. I will say that I have an unhealthy addiction to their mussels and drive across town just to get them when the memory of their perfection haunts me. I can drink the sauce, that is perfectly balanced and seasoned, by the gallon or sop it up with their chewy crusty bread goodness. I think any of their pastas are memorable and should not be missed. The service from wait staff has been impeccable with great attention to detail and optimizing the diners experience! Sadly my only criticism is that my greeting at the door has been met with surly or inconsistent help where I have been left wondering what my responsibility is in seating and getting a menu. Tonight I watched as many others felt the same upon entering the restaurant. The hostess was absent the majority of the my time dining as my table sat adjacent to the door and their station. Unfortunately most servers neglected to see patrons walking or were extremely busy meeting the needs of their tables that they were unable to greet. I watched as some sat themselves, many stood awkwardly waiting trying to catch staff's eyes and others decided to go to another restaurant. This is an easy one to fix so I hope that it is fixed soon because this place should be super star successful for years to come!

I've eaten here several times and have never had a bad experience. The food is delicious. They have great cocktails and a good wine and beer selection. The servers are friendly and attentive. It's basically the "fanciest" restaurant Beaverton has to offer. It's always been busy, every time I've gone, so I suggest making a reservation.

Decarli is one of the best choices in the foodie desert (compared to most of Portland,) that is Beaverton. Happy Hour here is absolutely amazing. All of their mixed drinks are very good, and have introduced me to new flavor combinations that I didn't know were possible. The service is absolutely wonderful. Other restaurants should take lessons from Decarli on how to do it right. I do have two complaints. First, the menu is a bit small for my tastes and there are a few weird choices that I just don't understand. For instance why would you ruin a perfectly good piece of meat by putting coffee anywhere near it? Secondly, due to dietary restrictions, menu choices are pretty much halved. The waitstaff is willing do what they can for you, but it's Italian food. There is only so much the cooks can do to cater to my issues before the food gets ruined. This is the only reason Decarli is not in my regular rotation. For everyone else I highly suggest going here and having one of the best meals of your life.

  • Asha S.

I adore Decarli. I wish I had heard about it sooner. What you think to be a neighborhood restaurant, is truly on of the best in Portland. The atmosphere is quaint and classy at the same time. There is ample parking on the street which is always nice and much easier than the downtown Portland restaurant scene. I have gone for both happy hour and dinner. Everything I have ordered here is amazing - but by far my favorite (and oddly enough for an Italian restaurant) was the pan roasted brick chicken. The chicken was perfectly juicy and the greens were seasoned with I'm not sure what, but it was melt in your mouth delicious. The portion size was large for me and I was lucky enough to take some home for lunch the next day!

Had the steak tartare, endive salad, and beef short ribs. All very good. Also tried some unique cocktails, the Cajun lemonade was my favorite. Great atmosphere for a romantic date night, but you will need a reservation.

I came here for happy hour with my mom and we sat at the bar. We had great service and delicious, and affordably priced happy hour food. The ambience is more on the upscale end of things. I would describe it as suburban trendy, if that's a thing. I would definitely recommend the happy hour!

Great choices of appetizers, excellent entrée, and delicious cocktail. What tops it all is the their atmosphere. Will come back.

Made the stupid mistake of asking whether they do to go orders instead of just placing a to-go order. I got the unexpected response of "well, maybe we can..." "We do sometimes..." - Jessica said that the kitchen was buried at the time and told me that maybe if I called in 20 minutes they may take my order. In all honesty, it just seemed like the person was making the rules as she went, depending on what was convenient for her workload at the time. It is just really annoying when different people get different experiences depending on the mood of the server or the time of day. No service, no stars.

If I could just give our waitress a rating, I would give her a 5+. As a gluten free gal, she provided suggestions on ways that the chef could accommodate, even going so far as to eliminate the wheat from some of the dishes for me. Of course I then had the polenta fries, sans flour. Perfectly crispy. The Gorgonzola butter on the side could use a little less butter and a little more cream. But it was still...Delish! I chose the braised short ribs based on Yelp reviews and I wasn't disappointed. Our waitress substituted veggies and potatoes for the spaetzel. Thank you! We were meeting a college friend I hadn't seen in nearly 30 years who was up from California. We wanted a place that was warm and cozy. Soft lighting, exposed brick, and comfortable seating. Decarli's met all our expectations and then some. We didn't leave our seats for nearly 3 hours yet never felt rushed nor in the way. We'll be back!

I love coming here with Butters (corgi) on a nice sunny day when they have patio seating outside for happy hours. The service is always great and they got a good happy hour menu. Their regular menu is not overpriced and the portions are great. My favorite is the Mussels. Hopefully in the future they could have a happy hour cocktail menu so I can give them 5 star.

My son, his beautiful fiancé and a dear friend of mine had dinner at Decarli's on a Saturday night. We shared a bruschetta which was three different taste combinations. I personally didn't think any of them were flavorful enough, but my son, who has a background in culinary thought they were all good. I had a delicious spaghetti that had a little heat to it, along with crab, eggplant, onion, and a couple of other yummy things. The pasta was perfectly prepared. I had to use a huge amount of self control to not eat the entire generous portion. My son had some sort of beef which he devoured and didn't share even one bite of. His sweetheart had a chicken that looked delicious and was completely gone by the end of the meal. They each ordered a dessert - both of which were delicious. Anna had a selection of ice creams and Colin had some sort of s'more thing that was really good too. We all liked the ambiance of the place very much, exposed brick and nice lighting. The staff was very friendly and the kitchen got things out in a timely basis. Overall we had a wonderful evening and we'll definitely be going back.

Came on a Friday night. Pretty busy. Tried the Caesar salad and brick roasted chicken. The chicken was perfectly cooked. Moist and tender. Nice industrial feel to the restaurant but crowd noise is really high. Reasonable prices. Under 30 bucks.

Wonderful food. It says Italian but don't let that fool you. I'm gluten free, and I can find entrees to eat here; not so at most Italian places. Maybe the menu was Italian inspired? Anyways, dress up or stay casual. I see peeps in jeans or slacks. Eclectic decor that is both casual and elegant. This would be great for ladies night out, after work parties, or date night. They have some large long farmhouse tables to seat large families or gatherings. I love the exposed brick wall and air ducts and the open rafter ceiling. The menu changes daily. Fresh and local fare. I have been here twice. Reservations were helpful both times. The service was excellent. The food is AMAZING! I can't believe the interplay of flavors of how they prepare their dishes. So creative and delicious! Expect $20-$30 per entree. Well worth it!

Was here again last weekend. It is one of the top 3 restaurants in town. Their menu changes at an appropriate pace; with the seasons and 'whims' of the chef. They retain the standards of the espresso short ribs, which are sublime, along with the steak and pork chop option...both excellent as well. This time the soup was a chilled cucumber. Paring well with the season. I had salmon with English peas and potato. My gf had the risotto of the day which was also excellent. And they had the chocolate s'more dessert which is just so freakin amazing...we were quite literally having an adult moment whilst consuming it. Fantastic. It's Beaverton but it's worth the drive.

So went to DeCarli to celebrate a friend's birthday. It's located in downtown Beaverton off 1st and Watson. Not that hard to find and it seem the area in that part of town is slowly becoming the Mecca of good food that Beaverton has to offer. We went there at night and the environment is very relaxing, but also really dark. It was tough to see the menu due to the lack of light but we managed. The wife originally ordered the Long Grilled Sweet Briar Farms Pork, I ordered the Tagliatelle. Also ordered the butternut squash soup. The waitress took our order but soon came back and told my wife that had run out of the pork. The birthday girl ordered the pork as well and since it was her birthday my wife opted to order the linguini instead. I actually had to look up on my phone what tagliatelle was, or other noodles on the menu. Did I feel stupid? Not really, I just wanted to check what I was getting myself into. It turns out it's a wide noodle but not thick at all. The butternut squash soup wasn't bad at all. I actually liked it. However I thought there was a strong hint of orange zest...if it was, just a tiny bit much, but I finished it. The Tagliatelle was actually really good. I almost wished that the dish just regenerated itself with more food, but if that happened I be one fat Chinese guy. My wife was happy with her linguini dish (sorry don't know the dish name since they changed the menu) but she never seen green linguini and I told her it tastes like any noodles, except it has a different flavor...that didn't make sense did it? She tried our friend's pork and didn't really like it that much. So she was happy that she ordered something different. DeCarli isn't leery on the spices. They do add some kick to some of their pasta dishes. All their pasta is made fresh and the place is pretty cozy...dark enough were you might need a flash light to read the menu, but overall I thought the place was pretty good and I would try this place again when I'm on that side of town.

We celebrated New Year's Eve at Decarli and the food and service were terrific! The only distraction was the noise level; since they have no soft surfaces to adsorb all the conversations going on at all the tables, the noise level is quite high. We had it all from an appetizer, to drinks, a couple of delicious main courses, and finally dessert. The food is well prepared and definitely high end, but well worth the price. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and very helpful with the menu items, offering suggestions and assistance when needed. I would go back anytime for their Happy Hour or another special event to celebrate for dinner.

My favorite Happy Hour spot. The space is tiny, but the service is terrific. We love Jen. Okay, so...order a drink, a Caesar salad, a hamburger and if you are all in, add the polenta fries. Darn good.

A place of love for me! The drinks are amazing... Especially the peartini. My favorite! The polenta fries? A must. Tried the oysters today and it was delicious. Fancy little hidden place. The happy hour is great as well! A date with your spouse? A gf? This is the place in beaverton!

This is my second time and to say the food is awesome would be an understatement! I had the pork and my husband had the short ribs. Mine was an amazing balance of sweet and tart and the short ribs were simply heavenly. We started with the pollenate fries which you have to try to believe. The Gorgonzola butter to dip them in is something I wanted to put on everything! Defiantly 5 stars. Be sure to make reservations. We were there at 7pm on a Sunday and there was only 4 tables available. During prime time, tables are reserved ahead of time. Atmosphere is relaxed and the service is top notch. Want to have an evening out at a bar?...go around the corner to Watson Hall. This bar is owned by the same people and many of the same dishes are available. Enjoy!

Food is delicious. Service is pretty good as well. Except for the one time we went to a late happy hour, not knowing that they weren't serving food from the regular dinner menu, and the waitress flipped out on us for taking the dinner menu and trying to order off of it. Chill out, lady! Polenta fries and risotto is great.

Love this place...from the happy hour to a regular dinner, this place is the best! The mussels are so good you want to swim in the broth! Yummy! Great drinks, wine, servers and food! It all clicks into a fun and delicious experience. A repeat place to go again and again and still enjoy!

We live just a few blocks from this place, and have now gone twice. Both times, it has simply felt uber-pretentious. The menu is small, and the food is excellent, but the portion sizes are DINKY and the prices are very high for what you get. I mean, I get it...we've gone to the Pearl and dined at some restaurants that take themselves WAY too seriously, but this is Beaverton, the SUBURBS for chrissake. I don't understand why this place is so highly rated. Maybe I'm not sophisticated enough to "get it" here. Luckily, there is a Dairy Queen down the road, or we would have gone home still hungry. This is literally the only place I can remember leaving and wondering where we could go for a quick bite afterward because my tummy was still growling. I supposed we could have doubled up on our Lilliputian entrees if we wanted to eat more, but I don't think we could have handled the sticker shock.

Simple gourmet italian. Limited menu items. Server was a bit off, but polite. Pleasant casual atmosphere, plenty of tables spaced apart. Would go again

This is one of our go to places that we bring out-of-town guests for dinner. Now before I will get into all of the great things I think it's important to talk about the atmosphere. We happen to love the atmosphere at this place - the smells the table the decor etc. However, there is one thing that kind of sucks about this place and it's the noise level. It's really loud and kind of echoey and sometimes it's hard to have a conversation because of that. So if you have any sort of hearing issue just be aware of that. Hey so let's dive in- - The food is fantastic. I've been with some people who have thought their food was too salty or over spiced I don't agree. Never had anything there that's been bad, or over spiced or even too salty. - The waitstaff : STELLAR - Stuff you must try: Polenta fries with garganzola butter - I have tried to make these myself and can't do it. So this is a great excuse to go back again and again and again. Beef Shortribs braised with espresso or dried prunes, creamy spaetzle, gremolata, fresh horseradish - OMG. Pan-roasted Brick Chicken with fennel sausage, cipllini onion, red currants, escarole, fried semolina gnocchi. Perfect every time. And their salted caramel cheesecake. Almost better than sex. Are they a little spendy? Sure- but it's worth it. The wine selection is good there's just nothing bad about them. Parking is a little sketchy but it's doable. Which is why they didn't get five stars:)

If Decarli was in Portland, I would probably give it 4 stars . . . but it's in Beaverton, which is mostly a culinary wasteland except for a few Korean and Vietnamese joints. I've had dinner at Decarli twice and happy hour there a half dozen times. The pastas I have had for dinner were really good but not exceptional (or that filling) for the price. The happy hour food is excellent, especially the mussels which are among the best I have ever eaten. If you are looking for good food in Beaverton this is the spot. If you are looking for a great happy hour in the Portland Metro area, you won't be disappointed by Decarli.

BEAVERTON GEM I have nothing but high praise for this Italian-American restaurant. Let's cut to chase and mention what we had ordered with Jessica our most delightful and attentive server: - Bruschetta: shaved beef, mascarpone, fontina, truffle oil/chicken liver mousse, pickled red onion/salmon tartare, creme fraiche, chive (meal in itself) - Steak Tartare: capers, parsley, onion, farm fresh egg plus grilled bread. (best of PDX) - Pork Chop: aged to perfection, extra thick with outer fat trim grill and seasoned with ham like flavor based with a sweet glaze. Perfect ! - Gelato Trio: creamy yet not overly pronounced in flavor I can see first hand why Decarli is a Beaverton favorite. Great menu, sophisticated wait staff and charming. Only one complaint, they ran out of their Tagliatelle with boar's meat.

Came to celebrate my birthday at Decarli and had the tastiest tasties ever! We started off with Steak Tartare and Polenta Fries... holy crap! My boyfriend and I had never tried Steak Tartare before, and it was awesome. The polenta fries tasted like fried perfection. I still have dreams about them. I got the Tagliatelle and he got the Fettucine Nero. Both were amazing!!! The pasta was so fresh, al dente, and smothered in the richest sauces we have ever had. We finished off the meal with the rhubarb crisp and salted caramel cheesecake. The crisp had cinnamon gelato on top, and it blended so perfectly with the hot and crunchy crisp... mmmmm. The salted caramel cheesecake was a little too salty for us, but in combination with the cheesecake... pure perfection. We also liked that it wasn't served in a traditional style - the bowl was unique and gave us more filling. Who cares about the crust!? We will be back... for sure.

DELICIOUS!!! BEEF SHORTRIBS!! I swear you taste too good to be true! You feel like you are sinning when you are eating this! No joke! It's THAT good!! I've never been a fan of Italian food but I guess I've never had Italian food that's THIS GOOD!!! It's almost like a hole in the wall from the outside since the store front is kinda hard to find, but once you get inside, it's really modern and nice looking. The service was great too! It is a little on the pricey side so prepare for a small dent in your wallet but for food this good, I'd say it's WORTH it!! Splurge a little, your taste buds deserve it!!

Amazing, we have been there several times and never once had bad service, bad food, and the prices are good! The short ribs are amazing along with the drinks and desserts! We will be going back again for sure! This restaurant is truly one of a kind!

Octopus salad anyone? Go for it! You will be pleasantly surprised and how tender and flavorful it is. I always hesitate with octopus because it can go very wrong and end up tasting like a tire but this is divine. We dined with a large group for a friend's birthday and the service was great and a bonus of so many people is that you get to try a lot of things on the menu. The real winner was the short ribs. The kids also really like everything; though to be fair these kids aren't picky eaters.

Wow. I have been wanting to come here for months as I drove past on my daily drive home from work. I knew nothing about the owners- it just looked like a happening place with yummy food. I was right! The place was hopping for a Wednesday night. We were greeted by Mrs. Decarli and chose to sit in the bar. Our server eventually greeted us and we ordered a few appetizers and drinks. I chose the super fantastic "soup"- a cucumber gazpacho. Let's just say I wish I had a straw! The basil and roasted red pepper totally popped in my mouth. My friend ordered the mixed greens salad - eh. Delicious dressing but a pathetic amount of "greens." We also ordered the caramelized onion cazuela which was AMAZING. Goat cheese, sweet caramelized onions, olive tapenade....we received such a generous amount that we needed more bread to eat it all up. We ended up getting the bruschetta, too. It was a good size for 2-3 people. It came with three different types of spreads that tickled our taste buds. To drink, I ordered a Decarli martini- savory and refreshing. My friend ordered a Watson... Too sweet for her liking but the server took it away and didn't charge her. Instead she ordered a glass of Chardonnay... It was delish. As we enjoyed our appetizers, I saw heavenly looking entrees pass us by... Fresh linguine, tasty looking pizzas, a hunk of grilled meat with a mound of golden onion rings on top...I am excited to come back after pay day... A bit pricey for a weekly dinner but totally must go for a splurge! I should take away a star for the slow service, BUT it was evident that the waitress was working her arse off and so was the bartender. It was so busy. With food this promising, you can see why!

This is the only restaurant we've found in Beaverton that makes you feel like you're in a great Portland eatery. The food is always good and you'll likely have a classy dining experience.

Nice Italian restaurant. I liked the airy quality of the interior, yet cozy too. The dishes are out of the ordinary, which was what we were looking for. The service is excellent, with very friendly and competent staff. Really made us feel welcome and like they were giving us their best. It can be on the spendy side, but for a special occasion it's worth it. They could hang up a picture or two :-)

Always delicious, great service, great atmosphere and perfect for a date night (gotta love the candle-lit, romantic vibe here). I have taken family there from out of town and they thought it was the fanciest restaurant around here. Definitely impressive. Keep doin your thing Decarli and NEVER CHANGE.

My wife and I decided to head to Decarli for a little celebration. We've been there before and always enjoyed it. But after this visit all I can say is Darn, what a disappointment. I ordered the New York strip steak, which I've had previously. However, unlike the last New York strip which was tender and flavorful, this one was tough and pretty tasteless. It was also smothered in onion rings that I believe were there to hide the disappointing steak. My wife has enjoyed the short ribs in the past and decided to try the fettucine Nero this time and was not impressed. I tried it as well and also thought is was nothing special. I don't know if they've changed chefs or their supplier (the good one) is taking the summer off or what was wrong. I doubt we'll be back any time soon. I'm just so disappointed.

Went to Decarli to celebrate a birthday. The service was great. The server was so nice and helpful, I have nothing bad to say about that. However... there are things that would cause me to hesitate going back. First, the food was a bit salty. Didn't really matter if you got the short ribs or the chicken, it was pretty salty. Second, they only had 4 beers on their tap list, which was more disappointing than anything. Third, their actual menu is a bit small for my liking. All in all, the food was pretty good, but I didn't leave there being "wow"ed like I have at other places.

Despite the great reviews, I've not dined at Decarli's when in town from the coast. The restaurant's reputation as being a favorite of hipsters has given me pause; I'm in my fifties, culturally mainstream, and not trendy, so not much of a hipster. Who wants to stick out like a sore thumb? Yesterday I said yes to dinner at decarli's. Turns out I'm a hipster! Okay, not so much, but I'm a fan for sure. First, diner demographics were mixed. Old and young couples and mixes of both in threesomes and larger. I saw a guy in a hoodie and another in a jacket, at the same table; women in jeans, shorts and dresses. We started with the Polenta Fries, just to try them. They're good, a bit of a novelty. You know, polenta. Shaped like huge fries. Mixed green salads were perfect; small, simple and fresh, tossed with a vinaigrette tasting of berries and pepper. My steak (coulotte) ordered medium rare, was cooked exactly right and served with grilled carrots, potatoes and (I think) a turnip. The menu mentioned a truffle vinaigrette on the vegetables, but it was too subtle for my pallet to differentiate. It was the most expensive entree and there was plenty to share. I sampled a delicious clam from a spicy dish that included shrimp and flat green (spinach?) pasta noodles. That person cleaned their bowl and said they'd be ordering it again. The third person at the table had the pork loin and loved her choice, especially an accompanying risotto cake. We passed three desserts, Salted Caramel Cheesecake, Pistachio Gelato Perferilios, and three mini scoops of gelato with little sugar cookies. We wouldn't turn any of them down, but we'd all go for the cheesecake first next time. Service was smooth from start to finish, unobtrusive, flawless and well timed. I loved that every single employee encountered seemed appreciative of us. Our experience easily warranted five stars and a return visit.

The perfect place to go after visiting the Beaverton Target and Home Depot. We were in desperate need of food and relaxation after nonstop moving and shopping. I was surprised to see how busy it was on a cold, rainy Tuesday, but the 10 minutes we waited for a table were well worth it. The beer and wine lists were pretty respectable, and the brown ale almost made me forget the day's chaos. The menu changes daily, and is very meat-centric. The chicken with chorizo got rave reviews from someone who is loath to eat chorizo. For my part, I got the tagliatelle, which was just extraordinary. It is served with fava beans and this creamy sauce which really hit the spot. The beet salad was also very good. The beets were on the harder side in consistency, which I appreciate, though my dining companion didn't like it for that very reason. We had the a brownie sundae for dessert. I don't think I'd order this again. The ice cream was very tasty, but the brownie itself was lackluster - cold and dry. A brownie sundae needs a hot, chocolatey brownie, naturally. But, besides this, Decarli is a wonderful little restaurant with a great vibe, great service, and I'll be back next time I'm venturing toward Target.

A downtown Portland quality restaurant located in cute little downtown Beaverton. The food is excellent (we love to bring clients here) and the atmosphere is classy and Pearl-like. They also have a nice happy hour but come early. Local suburbanites love to hangout here and it's always packed. I'd also suggest reservations for dinner just to be safe.

Be sure to call when booking a reservation online. I booked a 6 o'clock reservation and was told once I arrived that my reservation had been pushed back to 8 o'clock. I didn't receive any phone call or notification of this change. Also the host was extremely condescending and in no way helpful. He claimed they were completely booked although there was no one sitting in the dining room. Apparently I'm both dumb and blind. I've been here a few other times and normally have a pleasant experience. The food is average when comparing to other Portland area restaurants, but the service is usually much better!

Decarli was fantastic. Went with my wife for an anniversary dinner. They took us without a reservation. The polenta fries, as mentioned in many previous reviews' are indeed devilishly good. I had spaghetti and meatballs, and my wife had the Chitarra. Noodles were perfectly cooked in both dishes. Favors are full and unique. Atmosphere is lovely. Something I appreciate is a great waiter/waitress. Ours knew exactly when to take our order, bring the dessert menu and when to bring the check. As is standard with restaurants like this, she did not come to our table to ask if everything was OK. That is the kind of self-assuredness I appreciate. Classy place, right in downtown Beaverton. Who woulda thunk?

Holy....wow. I have found it. I have found a place....close enough to my house...that is worth RAVING ABOUT! Monday is my birthday...so we decided to celebrate early and I frankly, did not feel like cooking tonight and the boy said "when is the last time we sat down at an Italian place?" Really? It was the week before we moved to Oregon...so...far too long. I hit up Yelp (like a smarty pants like me does)... I realized I did not want to drive into downtown (since it was already 4pm and traffic going over that hill from Hillsboro is god awful (a total opposite commute type traffic from the bay area) ...so I narrowed the search to Beaverton/Hillsboro and sorted by rating. Seeing that Laura N. reviewed this place back in 2007, I thought well, at least someone I knew had been there. I pick up the boy at the MAX station a few blocks away and we make a stop at Bike Gallery (review to come after this) and we were way early. I let the hostess know we were there and she, with a smile, let me know that the table might be ready early but of course, we were early and I was fine waiting until it was time for us to be seated. We went to the bar (which was very busy) and ordered 2 drinks. The bartender (who was swamped) had a wonderful attitude and made me feel very welcomed. Just as we ordered the drinks, our table became available. The boy was going to wait at the bar for the drinks but the hostess said they would bring them to us (YAY) so we went on into the main part of the restaurant which was beautiful. A combo of wood and brick and some lovely wood tables made the place feel warm. The acoustics are semi poor but that is no reason to be crabby for me. Our waitress (I wish I could remember her name) was lovely. THE FOOD... THE FOOD!! Was...A-MAZING. After living in New York...I have come to expect Italian on the west coast to be kinda meh. It hits the spot at times but is never super great... this... was....GREAT. I ordered the gnocchi and the boy had the short ribs and wowza. Could not have asked for a better meal. .....wishing I had taken pictures. My gnocchi was soft and flavorful. The wild boar ragu was delightful. Tender and well seasoned. The spare ribs were beyond tender ... had the most amazing combo of flavors including espresso! I wanted to order a second plate of it...I really did...but instead, I got the rhubarb crisp with vanilla gelato and BAM...another winner. On our way out the door, we made reservations for 9 people next Friday (when my family visits for my daughter's first birthday) ...because wowza, so good.

Was extremely disappointed to say the least. Butternut Squash was good but $7.50 for 15 to 20 spoonfuls a little ridiculous. Now for the worst part, ordered the pork chop and found out why they have their lights turned down low. My wife and I both ordered the pork chop, they both were still raw in the middle. Not joking worst meal I've had in months. Server came by three times in 90 minutes! Maybe they should have padded chair so when they stick it to you, at least your butt has a cushion.

I MUST go back for food! We just got drinks for Happy Hour - the Ruby Red drop. Very good! Although there was only a few drinks on the happy hour menu (that not being one of them). The food looked great though, and the place is relaxing yet upscale and classy. Happy hour. happy hour. happy hour.

Wife N. and I had a craving for Italian, and had been wanting to try Decarli for a while, so we determined this would be the night. We made reservations through OpenTable (thanks for the link, Yelp--you made it so easy!) and sure enough, arrived at our 7:15pm Friday night reservation to find them waiting for us. We were seated immediately. We sat down in the dimly-lit dining room and almost instantly were greeted with some "extras". They had accidentally fried up an extra batch of their "polenta fries with gorgonzola butter" and brought it to our table gratis. Wow, that was a tasty treat! Starting off with drinks, Wife N. ordered the Georgia Peach, a bourbon peach drink with a semi tart flavor. Quite nice. I had the Spicy Mango Margarita, made with habanero-infused gold tequila, orange liqueur, and mango and lime juices on ice, along with a bit of a dried chile sitting on top. Cold yet with a lovely kick of chiles all at the same time. Probably isn't for everyone, but worth a try just to say you've had one. We ordered their bruschetta of the night served three on a plate. Tonight's featured balsamic figs and walnuts, the second was duck pate with pickled red onions, and the third was a smoked salmon on a creamy cheese. They were all good but the Salmon was particularly delectable. For the main course, I ordered the Grilled Painted Hills Culotte Steak with potato and celery root gratin (cut sharply into a perfect cube). The steak medallions rested on a bed of cippolini onion, brussels sprouts, and marrow butter. Now let me start by saying I cook a variety of excellent steaks at home. It is for this reason, primarily, that I don't tend to order steaks in restaurants. Most of the time, I come away disappointed as mine tend to be better. Not this time. This culotte steak (which if memory serves me correctly is part of the cap on the top sirloin) was absolutely flawless. Sliced into perfect 1/2 inch thick disks, and along with the gratin and other flavors on the platter, it was total heaven on the palette. Wife ordered the Spaghetti (the recipe changes often). Tonight's was with Pancetta, farm fresh egg, ricotta, scallions and parmesan. Wow. Just... Wow. For the dessert course we opted for their Apple Galette with Vanilla Gelatto and house-made Caramel. Incredible. The Caramel was rich and complex, and the Galette had some almond notes that were just so smooth and warm. The flavors together were perfect harmony. This isn't cheap dining. In fact, with several drinks and dessert it can get pretty pricey. But the food is worth every penny. There's not a single thing either of us could think of that could have made this meal any better. We'll be back with friends!

We love Decarli's for the great job they do with simple meals. Simple meals such as the salads, beef short ribs, mussels, polenta fries, cazuela, and the pizzas. Sadly, I didn't enjoy a linguini dish. It had black noodles, mussels, and some type of ground beef or chicken in it. The flavors were confusing. We prefer just to eat off of the happy hour menu and get simple, focused meals.

On a warm sunny day, this is a great place to go for happy hour. The beer selection is great and the food is reasonably priced. I had the tavern burger, which was delicious. During regular dinner hours though, this place is a bit more expensive.

I have been wanting to dine here forEVER! I finally took my son here for his birthday about a week ago. Oh my goodness!! What a great place! The service was perfect! We were seated promptly and never made to wait long for anything. The menu I was told changes I think she said daily. Which is kind of cool. I mean, to me that says fresh ingredients and an inspired chef. The food screamed that as well. It was top notch! If it wasn't such a classy place I would have licked my bowl/plate clean, it was that good. Are the prices a little high? Yes, but you really get what you pay for here at Decarli's, seriously, trust me, it's worth it! I would not take very young children here, but older well behaved children should do fine. Though there isn't a whole lot to choose from that is "kid friendly". Frankly, almost everything on the menu had some ingredient in it that I didn't know how to pronounce or even what it was. But it tasted good :-) I know where my hubby and I are going out to eat on our next date night!! This has got to be one of, if not the best restaurant in the Beaverton/Hillsboro area.

Got happy hour earlier, love seeing my girl Jen, such an amazing woman! Decarli's food is so amazing, and the drinks never disappoint! I get something new every time, but also, the beef shirt ribs are always to die for. Definitely a perfect first date spot, bar or restaurant. Highly recommend checking this off your to do list!!!

Decarli offers fabulous food and ambiance. If you are looking to get out in a hurry, this is not the place for you. Service is very leisurely. Everything I've had on the menu was fantastic. Cocktails and wine are delish. Probably the best restaurant in Beaverton. Portland foodie experience without having to leave the Beaverton area and fight Portland parking and traffic.

We visited Decarli for our 26th Anniversary Dinner. Totally loved everything about it! Walked in and was greeted by a friendly hostess, had an amazing Waitress and was treated with a glass of Champagne. The atmosphere is totally urban, forgetting you are in Beaverton. The food was very special and the Derby Pie, Devine! Definitely no shortcuts or scrimping here. Having a busy day at work, I loved reserving our table online. We look forward to returning~

Just as a lot of others have said, the happy hour here is really good. Some incredibly yummy cocktails and small dishes to nibble on. The caramelized onion cazuela with goat cheese and the trio of bruschetta with daily toppings are both SO good. They also have some incredible wines. You can't go wrong with the truffled almonds or house-cured olives either if you need finger-food during your happy hour! It's rather small, so get there early if you go for happy hour. The outdoor seating is also quite nice if the weather cooperates. The dining area has a much quieter atmosphere if you are looking for a romantic dinner. All in all, a great choice for food and drinks in Beaverton. The only reason I only gave 4 stars is the lack of vegetarian options. If they added more menu items sans meat, this place would be my main go-to spot!

  • Robert A.

Food was excellent, service was good, ambient noise is high ... parking a bit of nuisance. Great location in downtown Beaverton, but with that comes street parking or public parking about 1 block away. Make sure to have a reservation - they are always full. We had the grilled salmon and the linguine. Both were very well prepared and nicely plated. They brought the kids meal out with the appetizer, which was a nice touch. Desert was great - salted caramel cheesecake (which is really a twist on creme brule) and gelato. The price was very reasonable for what you might consider fine dining. My only complaint is the noise level. For a place that nice, it would be nicer if you did not have to shout to be heard across the table.

Mea Culpa, Decarli. Were it not for the likes of the indomitable Enzo's, you would have gleaned more stars outta me. Met with some old friends for a feast recently @ Decarli, and though we thought the food was good, it doesn't quite reach the uppermost echelons of Italian perfection. It was Sunday night, so I had to go w/the special (spaghetti w/meatballs) and apparently the noodles are made there fresh. I found their s'n'm pretty run of the mill, standard stuff. If I go there again (and probably will, at some point, it is a lovely venue for a date), I'll be branching out to see what else the menu has to offer. We also split the beef ribs as a group appetizer, since that's the one thing that's always on the menu. The beef was tender, well-aged and flavorful; however, I liked mine alot better as cold leftovers later, sprinkled w/some "Zombie Repellant" habanero sauce, which I "just so happened" to have in my happy lil' wagon. *Stop the review now*. If your food is significantly improved by random bottle of sauce rolling around in ye olde wagon, even if it is one as stupefyingly zesty as Zombie Repellent, well....... *shrugs* Ciao, Decarli. *dragon-breathed smooches*

Wow, still love this place. Like everyone else we describe it as "The Pearl comes to Beaverton". You can walk in and feel transported. This is our date, anniversary and birthday celebration spot, but also a great after work spot although the bar is fairly small. Have never been disappointed by the food, service or experience.

Decarli opened its doors at a time when my husband and I were needing to curb eating out. It is a mile or two from our home, so it was a bummer not being able to go. Ours was a long, sad story of being laid off from work. Now that we're back on our feet, we have a little cash. Needless to say it was time to try Decarli for dinner. Oh what we've been missing. The arancini are probably the best I've ever tasted ... even better than the ones I've hand made. Plus, they are served with arugula pesto! Continuing on with the arugula, portobello, fontina, carmelized onion pizzetta was an excellent choice with Nebiolo wine. My husband had the Chitarra, and we loved it. Last, but not least, the cheescake with salted caramel was fantastic. It's nice to be able to afford this treat so close to home.

Went here for our anniversary. Great romantic atmosphere. Regarding previous complaints that it is too loud, it is a bit loud, but I would rather have that then too quiet where everyone can hear your conversation. For big groups I could see where it would be too loud if you wanted to talk to more than just the few seated around you. Great food! Short ribs highly recommended. My wife got the pesto farfalle, which was not just an ordinary pesto dish, it was really good, however they did that. The only con is the wine prices were steep. Will definitely be going back.

My girl friend and I wanted to find an Italian restaurant in Portland so we checked Yelp and saw Decarli had a great rating and reviews but were apprehensive since it was in Beaverton. Living in NW Portland and not wanting to deal with parking or wait times we decided to give it a shot. It has since become our favorite spot in the greater Portland area. The polenta fries and beef short ribs are just the best - one of my favorite meals ever. The environment is great and service has always been friendly and excellent. When they have it the octupus appetizer is amazing. I highly suggest checking out Decarli next time you're craving some great food and drink.

We were driving around looking for another place and ended up finding this hustling and bustling place. Service, ambiance and food were great! Seemed we were somewhere in downtown Portland. Highly recommend the mussels, ceasar salad and spaghetti!

Always a great meal and time at Decarli. When you don't want to make the trek from the Westside burbs to Portland Decarli is a top notch option. From the service to the food Decarli always delivers.

This place is a little gem hidden in downtown Beaverton. It's not often that you find this caliber of Italian food, especially out here in the 'burbs. I have been here quite a few times for dinner and am always blown away by the freshness and quality of the pasta and produce, and the level of deliciousness of the sauce in which said ingredients are bathed. While I am stuck in the "pasta of the day" box, I have taken bites of others meals and been very impressed with the pork, chicken, and fish dishes. The polenta fries are really tasty as an app, and the butter leaf salad is fresh and flavorful. As far as dessert goes, get salted caramel ANYTHING! They do it right here. Also worth noting, they have really lovely and creative cocktails. Plenty of choices as far as gin goes, which makes me not a dull girl. The bread that comes with the meal is also doughy in the middle and crisp on the outside, and they are happy to bring more if you find your plate empty. Service is always attentive and professional with a dash of fun. My only gripe (and it's really a tiny one) is that the bathrooms are unisex. Sorry boys, I prefer to stick with ladies only when it comes to hygiene related scenarios. I'll definitely be back with friends and family, mostly on special occasions (the prices are at the date night/special occasion level here), and I'm looking forward to try the Happy Hour which I've heard a lot of good things about.

Great service followed by incredible ribs, chicken and pork chops! Fantastic salt sprinkled caramel cheesecake. One of my favorite dining places.

Tonight was our third visit, and once again, it was wonderful. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, rustic and sophisticated, and the service is top-notch. Then there is the amazing food. The mussels were delicious, and I had the pappardelle with oxtail ragu for my entree. Finished every bite, and was thankful that the serving size wasn't bigger (it was generous!), because I would have eaten more until I was well beyond full. So far everything we've tried has been incredible. We've never had room for dessert (which I would like to try), but the choices look very inviting.

Great atmosphere, service, food and drink. Went for dinner on a Saturday night and was impressed with the experience from start to finish. We went with the server's recommendation and had excellent polenta fries before a couple of fantastic pasta dishes. The creme brulee and pistachio ice cream were excellent. I don't think you'll find anything on the menu that will disappoint!

Had a lovely dinner here. Nice atmosphere, great service, wonderful food. The Pork shoulder and butternut squash soup were fantastic. The only slightly weird thing is the vast difference in portion sizes. The kids menu items were huge, but the autumn salad (while delicious) was tiny.

Finally got around to going here with my wife. We had a wonderful meal. Polenta Fries with the Gorgonzola butter sauce, and the house olives to start. The fries came out piping hot, and I burnt my mouth trying to eat them too quickly. I am impatient, what can I say! Let them drop a bit in temp, and then we enjoyed the rest of them. She also enjoyed a nice Tempranillo that she said was fantastic. This is her favorite wine, so that says something to me. She had the gnocchi, and I enjoyed the Halibut. The Halibut was light, and cooked perfect, and the plate fit well together. The Gnocchi was rich (as we expected) when truffle and fontina cream are involved. I would have opted for it to be a bit more al dente, but that is just personal opinion. We switched mid meal and both enjoyed each plate for what it was meant to be. It was very nice to enjoy an excellent meal in a great upscale setting in the burbs. we will be back! -d

Why I am discovering the delicious nature of Beaverton lately? Within the last few months, I have discovered many restaurants that are wonderful, inexpensive and without attitude. Decarli is no exception and their happy hour is WONDERFUL. The bartenders are very funny, attentive and have great recommendations for both food and beer. Well worth many return trips and it's very easy to get to.

I wish for just a moment to be a poet. Oh look I am! Poetry perhaps best describes the experience of Dicarli. If you are anything of an aspiring cook and foodie this is Nirvana. Take a seat on the Kitchen side of the bar, ask Robert what Cocktail he's passionate about that day, and just sip, bite and bask in the magic! Details, passion, exuberance, art. Generally I can review a spot 5 minutes after leaving, this one took me a day to sort out. In short, people that love food serving people that love food. My only regret was not having the chance to distract Paul away from hand rolling his Pasta sheets long enough to thank him for his dedication to doing what's right by food. It's a must... Cmon Baby, Do it!

We went to Decarli last night for the late end of the happy hour (9-11 pm). Though the place was busy, there were several tables available, both in the dining section and the bar area. HH beer is $4 pint, decent for the Red Hook ESB. The HH menu had offerings from $2 - $10, and while $8 does seem high for HH fare, for the Decarli burger with micro fries, it was well worth it. One of the best burgers I have had in a long time -could have been the painted hills beef, the roasted tomatoes, or the really good aged cheddar, but I cant wait to go back and have this burger again. The atmosphere here was pretty relaxed, and despite the impression I got from the website (that it might be a little more upscale) the vibe was really relaxed and there was a nice mix of people in the bar area. Like others have commented, I do agree that the service was a little slow, and a little odd, as our server seemed preoccupied and uninterested.

The food here is wonderful. Great for a date when you live in Beaverton and don't want to go far. It's that great food which usually is lacking in Beaverton that you usually find in Portland. Is it the best food ever? I would not say so but for the convenience and ambiance I think it is pretty great.

Amazing. It's the only restaurant I've found in Beaverton that tastes and treats you like Portland. So glad Paul and Jana started this place! Keep the creativity and excellent service flowing!

What a great little gem. Effective, friendly service. They take pride in being one of 3 edible places to dine in Beaverton, as they should. Their menu is set with some modern classics, generally not crazy outside risks, but nice deliberate ingredient choices composed in a careful way. I really enjoy the warmth and open-ness of Decarli, it feels like they took what was a crummy old space and made it something pretty special for what and where it is.

Delicious food, definitely must order the polenta fries! I loved everything starting from their bread and butter until the fabulous creme brûlée we ordered for dessert. I've been here many times in happy hour and I've never been disappointed - the drinks are fabulous too.

Polenta Fries with gorgonzola butter! Mmmmm. Every entree was delicious: Tagliatelle was spicy and the perfect texture with tender bits of beef; short ribs melted in your mouth, and the pork chop was moist and tender. Pecan ricotta tart was worth the extra workout we'll have to do to make up for it. The wait staff was attentive and didn't hurry us along when we accepted our third refills on coffee. We never expected to find such a great restaurant in Beaverton, but glad we did. We will definitely be back!

This was not at all what I expected to find in Beaverton -- in the best possible way. I loved it! Their happy hour menu is tasty, and the ambiance is excellent. The service wasn't stellar, but I don't blame our server; they seemed dramatically understaffed for the happy hour demand. Nevertheless, I'll be back soon, when I wander out to that part of town.

So this is how our dinner at Decarli went: bottle of Malbec *very nice* ... polenta fries *WOW!* ... beet salad *WOW!!* ... short ribs *WOW!!* ... salted caramel cheesecake *one more WOW!* very classy upscale modern decor. A little noisy but that's because the secret is out! ... esp. after being featured in the Oregonian annual dining guide. Total yum!

Absolutely love Decarli. It's like a hip little Italian restaurant, all the way out in the burbs. If this place were in the Pearl, there would be a line waiting out the door nightly. When you go, get the polenta fries with gorgonzola butter. Just do it. You won't be disappointed. My ONLY complaint is the noise level. While I love the exposed brick walls and hard wood floors, it's not the best room for a quiet, romantic dinner. It can get pretty noisy on a busy night. Other than the noise, the food is super yummy, and the service is great. Dig it.

I'm a huge fan. Their happy hour is great! You can get a number of smaller plates at reasonable prices, walk away full of great food, and still have some money in your pocket. Get there early or you'll likely wait as their bar area is small. Plenty to look at with an open kitchen. Dining room is more expensive, but still worth it for a nice date night or special occasion.

  • Benjamin M.

The atmosphere of the place was cold and unfeeling. The food was not so good. The pasta with home cured bacon was way too salty and the price for the amount of the entree was way too high. The Oysters tasted as if they had been frozen and then microwaved or just boiled. The after effects of the meal were felt the next day. Not for kids and family.

Our first time at Decarli's was a recent Friday night. We were lucky enough to take part in a private event for a friend's birthday and WOW- what an experience. Our server was fantastic; incredibly knowledgeable with regards to both the food and beverage options. Probably my favorite part about them was they were PASSIONATE about the venue and what they serve- PROUD even. That spoke volumes to me :). The ambiance in the private dining room was unreal. While Im sure a steep pricetag if you have a smaller group- it is WELL worth it if you have a good size party. Having initially ventured to the dining room side (which is just next door via a separate entrance)... the ambiance seems to be a win for both rooms. The food was AMAZING. I kept having to remind myself that this was in the suburbs and not downtown. As a resident of Beaverton I feel incredibly fortunate that we have a place like this in town and will make it a point to come back as often as I can! For appetizers- we had the Steak Tartare, Prosciutto wrapped shrimp, and Polenta Friends with Gorgonzola Butter. ALL of it was amazing. Someone from the table tried each of the salads- Endive and Butter Lettuce spring to mind. The Endive was fantastic with a balsamic that was just heavenly! For dinner we had Lobster Risotto and the Shortribs- which are- as I understand it- the only menu item that remains on their ever changing menu given its popularity. If you are going -these are NOT to be missed. The Risotto was fantastic as well. Thankfully we had folks on the table who were not afraid to pass plates and we also tried the steak which was amazing. While the way its prepared changes often- my guess is based off of the reviews here and our taste of the steak that evening- you can probably NEVER go wrong with that option. Overall- LOVED LOVED LOVED this experience all around. If you haven't been. Treat yourself to a nice night out. You won't regret it :).

I went here tonight with a party of six after having had a generally positive first experience at the restaurant several months ago. I had no problems making reservations a couple hours in advance through OpenTable, and my party and I were greeted and seated quite promptly. In general I found the experience here to be just average. Our server, Kate, was timely and courteous, despite it clearly being a busy night. (They print the menus daily, and only had two paper copies remaining for our table, which was a bit awkward.) The food came out after a slightly but not unusually long wait. I ordered the linguini (carbonara-ish), and my fellow diners had the pork, gnocchi, tagliatelle, and risotto. The portions for my dish certainly left something to be desired, especially considering it was not all that appetizing (oversalted and too many peas for the amount of pasta). Likewise, the pork was reported to be not all so tender, and my samples of the gnocchi and sausage tagliatelle were equally as underwhelming. For the cost of the dinner I would have expected more in terms of quality of food (or at least portion size), but it wasn't anything ridiculously bad. In summary: 3 stars for a ho-hum dining experience in Beaverton. Not worth it enough for me to return here, despite only living a block away. I'll opt for Mingo next time at The Round.

I came here with my husband and friends to celebrate my birthday. I am always game for good Italian food, and Decarli didn't disappoint. I had the cocktail by the same name, and it was delicious- lemon juice, basil and simple syrup. We started with polenta fries, which were very good and a unique appetizer choice. We tried the Caesar salads as well. Two of us could have shared a salad with all the other food, but I love a good Caesar, so I didn't mind. I had the spaghetti and meatballs which our server said is on the Sunday menu. It was very tasty, and just what I wanted from an Italian meal. My husband had the short ribs which were amazing. We shared dessert, which was three small cream puffs with vanilla gelato and chocolate sauce. It was a great end to an enjoyable meal. The best thing about the place was how appealing the menu was to a broad audience. Anybody would find several menu items that they can expect to be delicious. I will be back.

My wife and I recently tried DeCarli, since it's a nicer restaurant close to our house, and after reading reviews on Yelp and Urbanspoon. Most of the criticism was about the noise, and we can happily report that on a busy saturday night, we had no problem with the noise. It was loud-ish, but we were able to have a nice romantic meal without shouting. The owner(s) could easily install some baffles on the ceiling to cut down on noise, it would be a pretty easy fix. The look of the room is really nice- the bare brick walls are attractive, and give the place a warm feel, though it is pretty large inside. The food was very good, and rather innovative. The waitress played up the "sous-vide" method that is used in a few dishes (very trendy modernist cooking technique, but if done correctly yields excellent results). I'm happy to report that my pork was amazing and moist- pork being one of the meats that is easiest to overcook. My wife's meal (rabbit) wasn't as stellar, but still good. The service was efficient and unobtrusive. Overall, if you're looking for a more refined dining experience in the area, check out DeCarli.

What? A trendy restaurant in downtown Beaverton? Yes, and Yum! The polenta fries with gorgonzola butter was amazing. Dinner was divine and we finished up with the heavenly salted carmel cheesecake. Our server was attentive and our water glasses were never empty. We shall return.

This is my 3rd time to Decarli. It is a very popular restaurant as it is not a chain in the burbs! Hard to come by, I know. The food is great! So far all 3 times I have not been disappointed though I have to say they are on the pricey side because their portions are small. My girlfriend said the last time she went it was for a late dinner. She thought the portions were small because maybe they were close to closing time and running out of ingredients...LOL! But she discovered that the portions ARE this small this time with me! She finished her plate of linguine in a matter of 5 or 6 forkfuls and no, she is not a pig! I would definitelyl eat there again because the food is good and there aren't a lot of similar choices in Beaverton.

Decarli is our "go to" spot when we want a great meal or bar experience..we just love the food and the space. I think we've been there at least 20 times in the 4 years they have been open, not bad, considering we live in North Portland, so it's not exactly our neighborhood joint. The pizza's are always delicious, thin and crisp with interesting toppings. The Caesar is also delicious..whole leaf, just the way I like it ,and great finger food. The menu is updated daily so is quite seasonal, but the gnocchi, short ribs with spaetzle, mussels with saffron are big draws for us, and as good as any I have had in the more expensive restaurants in town. The wine selection by the glass is fabulous and the cocktails are interesting..we LOVE Decarli !!

This update is based solely on their happy hour. For the restaurant, I will still give them a four, but happy hour only deserves a three. Happy hour to me means cheaper drinks and a cheaper menu for food. I don't expect all the same concoctions that I see for dinner, but I do expect some cheaper foods. With the drinks, they had a menu of special drinks for 5 dollars. However, a vodka tonic with the house well vodka was not covered under happy hour. Huh? What if I don't want a chili infused sea breeze? I just want a drink. To not offer a select number of beers, wines, and well drinks for happy hour doesn't really make it a happy hour. It makes it a specialty drink hour. Not really up for that. The food was good. I had the hamburger, and it was cooked to order (medium rare) and done perfectly. The meat was very tasty. They were a bit heavy handed on the aioli sauce, but otherwise a good burger. However, 8 bucks? For happy hour? The burger may very well be an 8 dollar burger, but happy hour prices shouldn't be that high. My wife had the short rib sandwich, and she really liked it. Bottom line, this isn't really a true happy hour. Prices are high for the food, and there are only a few specialty drinks that are cheaper (and they are still 5 bucks). There are quite a few happy hours to choose from, and I would just not choose this one. But I will still go back for their dinners.

I love everything about Decarli. The decor is gorgeous, the food divine, the service excellent. Best burger I've ever had. I LOVE the trio of Bruschetta. And the almonds... and the olives... and... I could go on... Every cocktail I've tried has been great. The Happy Hour is an amazing deal. It's located close to public transport. They have a late night happy hour. Actually I want to go there now. Mmmm...

Decarli's is scrumptious! Happy hour menu is so tasty - the polenta fries are to die for! Tell them you want gluten free, otherwise they are dusted in flour. Bartenders here are pros! Best drinks around. Great atmosphere - Portland like, but it's in Beaverton!

Finally, a restaurant close to home that I can love! One of the most difficult adjustments to moving from downtown Portland to W. Beaverton has been the lack of restaurants to choose from close to home. Now we've found one that improves our attitude. We joined our friends at diCarli this last weekend and every single person at the table raved about the food (and this is a picky crowd). We had a wide variety - fish, meat, pasta. It was all delicious. So, why not a 5 star. Well, it was a bit loud. This is not the place to go if you want to have quiet conversation or if you are hard of hearing in a crowd. Otherwise, rush to this restaurant and enjoy!

My husband & I were on vacation and visited this terrific restaurant for dinner. It was fabulous! Highly recommend it. He had the grilled salmon, which was excellent. I had the chicken which was also excellent! The polenta fries were a perfect appetizer. We decided to go for dessert and chose the s'more brûlée. It was mind blowing! I can't think of a more delicious dessert that I've had in a very long time. It's a must do, so save room!

Decarli posed quite the conundrum... I mean...Beaverton's known for a lot of great things...like...well...um... ... ... ... ... ... ... So when I kept hearing rave reviews for this so-called "cozy" Italian joint in the Beav - I thought I would be living out a craigslisting nightmare where quaint and rustic ACTUALLY translate to small and old. Let's just say I was a bit skeptical. And I was blown away. The beautiful warm decor instantly won me over - think open kitchen, exposed brick walls, low hanging lights, grandiose chandelier, and high wooden beamed ceilings...I felt like I was in the Pearl...except I didn't have to deal with "the Pearl". And oh...the food was delicious. This would not only be a fantastic date spot - but a great place for a group function as well. Things to watch out for: It's spendy. Granted - the food was delicious, fresh, and WELL worth the price we paid. Just a word for the wise...leave your Hamiltons at home. You'll need to break out the big boys for this one. Hummingbird servers. While I'm not complaining that the bread basket was constantly full nor that the wine glasses topped off - our amusing server with an on-again-off again accent seemed to have a permanent spot at the end of our table.

Italian food in the Beaverton area? I'm thinking Nonna's, Giovanni's, Macaroni Grill or Olive Garden. Either mediocre local food or mediocre national chain. Not much of a choice. And who wants to go downtown for Italian food? I mean, really, most of it you can make just as good in a few minutes from pre-packaged pasta at the grocery store. But Decarli's is definitely different. The space is pretty large so the tables are spaced out enough so you don't feel like you are having to listen to 5 different conversations around you. It's a bit of a chilly atmosphere with all the wood and brick and open space, but I can forgive that. The old school brass chandelier rescued from the Benson is a nice touch. The waitress was nice and punctual. I am always a fan of places that leave you a pitcher of water so you never have to worry about running out. i ordered a drink from their menu, some concoction with sprite and vodka and lime juice. It was ridiculously weak which is one of the reasons I knocked a star off the rating. We had the cazuela as an appetizer, it was yummy but a little overly sweet with the amount of carmelized onions way overpowering the olive tapenade and goat cheese. I had braised beef and ricotta ravioli with peas and mushrooms and it was incredible. Although, again, a little sweet. My SO at the gnocchi with a ragu and those were little pillows of fluffy happiness. Although, again, the sauce seemed a little sweet. The fact that everything we had seemed a little sweet was the other reason I took a star off. I will likely go there again and order completely different entrees to see if this is typical or not. I had a raspberry trifle for dessert and, funny, it was the most tart, non sweet thing I had. But it was wonderful, fresh, raspberry goodness layered with rice pudding. Yum. All in all the meal was very good, service was good, drink was blah (I'll try something else next time) and atmosphere was pretty good. I think this is definitely a west side restaurant that is worth my business. (So Olive Garden - you can stick it!)

Just finished Happy Hour. All cocktails at $5.00 and worth every cent. Yummy infused vodka and flavors that make you order more than one. The Decarli burger is one of the best in town. Don't forget to order the Polenta Fries and one of their Pizzettas. You will want to come back at least once a week. Happy Hours: 4:30-6 and 9-close. Ask for Jennifer from Beaverton...she will serve you with a smile!!! Enjoy!!!

Okay okay, so let me just say these words: pancetta chanterelle mushroom roasted garlic grana padano tagliatelle now what if I were to tell you that these were all in ONE DISH!? -So I was originally sad because we were able to sneak in our group of five last minute on a Friday evening, but they had run out of the gnocchi. so sad. but I think this was actually a blessing as the Tagliatelle plate at Decarli was one of the most memorable italian dishes I've had in years. the pancetta is served as thick chunks, without a heavy smokiness, and was substantial enough to be considered a meat pasta, rather than just a flavoring by meat. the tomato-based sauce was thick but given in just the right portion to allow the tagliatelle to remain the star of the dish. the sweetness of the garlic really comes through well in the sauce, which is not tart at all, but subtly sweet. The tagliatelle pasta was interesting and unique at Decarli as it was about 2-3x wider than others that I've had in the past. along with being firm and yet not too chewy, the starchiness of the tagliatelle here together with the savoriness of the pancetta in sauce made it intensely satisfying. gnocchi-what? this is a very healthy portion for $17 and I was so thrilled to be here for a late Friday evening! -we also ordered the charcuterie plate for $11 which was huge, and contained four salumi selections, garlic crostini, pickled vegetables, and a healthy dollop of whole seeded deli mustard. this is easily a serving for four diners. ** what a gem of a restaurant in Beaverton with a wonderful interior decor (dimly lit without being too dark, and a relaxed and bustling, but not too loud soundtrack of the diners) the staff is very eager to help with the menu selections and splitting checks. see you again soon. Portland proper is starting to feel too far...

Best burger I've had in years! And this was a modest happy hour special! I was in during a fairly deserted weekday evening, but it still had a welcoming atmosphere with the subdued lighting and exposed brick. The bartender was personable to his regulars and attentive to me. Look forward to visiting again!

Best meal I've had in Beaverton and I've lived here for twenty years. I got the house made gnocchi which was light and topped with a rustic read sauce. Amazing. My husband had the braised short ribs with spaetzle and it was fantastic. The service was prompt, and our server made excellent recommendations.

This is a little oasis in Beaverton's chain/stripmall oriented food scene. Try their pizzetta that is always perfect, any of the toppings make it, with that thin tasty crust and balanced flavourful tomato sauce... The burguer is also really good and so are the meat balls. And they have a great happy hour, with nice wines and nicely prepared drinks for cheap. Ok, so the service is not all that loving, but is not bad. Very worth going

Went to dinner tonight for a much needed night out with my fiancé. The atmosphere was a little snooty. Our server was not overly friendly and it took over an hour to get our food. They did bring by 1 basket of Cold bread and eventually we flagged down someone who wasnt our waiter to refill our water since it seemed like refilling our water glasses was a job our waiter was above doing. It seems to be a good place for groups of people who want to go drink wine, chat and feel like you are downtown in the pearl. If you just want a night out with your significant other go somewhere else. By the time we got our food we asked for it to be put in to go containers, there were no apologies for the wait and noonne even asked if somethign was wrong. The food was good buy not worth the wait or the price-portions are small.

This place is a great hidden gem in Beaverton. I don't venture out to this part of town very often, but I would for this place because their service and food is great! Their polenta fries and short ribs are great. I definitely want to try the gnocchi next! I haven't hit up this place for happy hour yet, but it's on my to do list! And they now have a great private dinning room next door which I'm now tempted to book for my next large party!

I had dinner here the other night with a friend. The wine selection and service were excellent. The meal was good and changed my perception of Beaverton finally having a nice restaurant in town. (i'm not a Hall Street Grill fan). The pork and the short ribs were great. The ONLY complaint was that the dessert wasn't that good. It was tiramisu and was so soaked that it was soggy.

The short ribs are fabulous and the chocolate torte was just right: not too sweet and not too dense. The new pastry chef had started that morning and I give her two thumbs up! This was our first visit and we found it through Yelp. Thanks, everyone!

cant say enough good things. wish there was room in the bar on Sunday for happy hour but for quality of food and service for the place was 10/10. We had the Polenta fries w/gorgonzola sauce, gnocchi, and a New York Strip medium rare. Everything was cooked to perfection didnt take long to get our food even though they were busy. Waitress was sooo nice. Truely a diamond in the rough for Beaverton

My wife and I are regulars at Decarli, having discovered it last spring. While we have eaten in the dining room a few times, we prefer the bar area since we know the folks who work there now. The happy hour is worth the trip with both discounted food and drinks. Our favorite is "PIZZETTA with prosciutto, taleggio, arugula, shaved grana padano, olive oil", but when I get my way we mix it up with the PIZZETTA with the soppressata sausage. They have 4 beers on tap (not a lot, but enough) and a good selection of wine by the glass (very slanted to Italian varieties). Our favorite place in Beaverton, and in our top 10 for PDX overall.

wow-wow-wow! I am soooo impressed to finally find GREAT food in Beavertron. I may update with 5 stars later, but so far it's been my late night refuge for Happy Hour. I work late, and it's tough to find great food open even after 9pm in this town. (PDX too) Decarli is about 10 minutes from my house and I'll be going there often balancing the palette with Swagat, Mingo, Typhoon, Rama Thai, and Yuzu. Decarli is that hip place that just breathes portland, it's obvious that some experiences from Blue Hour are bleeding over from the head chef. Namely the quality and type of food served oozes local quality. Polenta fries, an incredible Brioche Burger, and $8 Pizzas that rival Ken's and Wy'East round out the Happy Hour. $7.5 for a Happy Hour pizza that's wonderfully edible? I'll say yes to that more than once. In fact I had the tomato and basil and went back for the salami. Absolutely everything has been fresh and great tasting. Can't wait to go back and try a seafood dish for dinner. By now I think they have the kinks worked out because our service was fast and friendly. Happy Hour cocktails and wine are $5 for all selections, even the specials, and micro brews like Ninkasi pour for $3. Very Portland - Right in Beaverton

Wonderful cocktail menu, the food was great, and the service was lovely. Would recommend.

Decarli is a bright spot in the fast food desert that is downtown...err...central Beaverton. Solid overall but not dazzling. What I tried: - Polenta Fries - Penne with caramelized pork and sun-dried tomatoes - Tagliatelle with chicken in a leek cream sauce - Caramel and salt cheesecake Definitely loved their Polenta Fries appetizer, a corny take on Park Kitchen's chickpea fries (PK's fries still win hands down). Both the pastas were tasty but not quite perfect. The roasted chicken was tender & delicious and the leek cream sauce was an interesting variation. The pork was a tough disappointment but the sauce was yummy. The cheesecake was a necessary indulgence, and a good finish to the meal, after a pair of disappointing cocktails. Next time I may stick to salad and appetizers, but I'm willing to give the entrees another chance.

Son had buleberry pancakes which were great, stuffed wirh blueberries, very tasty maple syrup. Service was great Prices were good

The food was very good. The service was excellent. However, since its a very popular and loud place, trying to have a conversation with my date was almost out of the question. Nonetheless, still an enjoyable experience.

This place is the perfect example of what every restaurant in the suburbs should strive to be. There are an overwhelming amount restaurants in the suburbs that are extremely generic/traditional/bland. It is refreshing to find a restaurant outside of Portland that has great service and food along with an amazing atmosphere.

I came to Decarli because my brother had been there and was raving about how great it is and how personable the staff is. So I decided to go with a buddy of mine to try something new. And I'm sure glad we did. Decarli was packed full of people and the atmosphere was great. Lots of sounds of utensils hitting their plates and plenty of conversation that just lower than hearing distance that you couldn't make out what people were saying but you could hear conversation. Atmosphere has a lot to do with the review scores I will be giving because of the nature of the business. If you dont have great atmosphere to go along with your service... it's just like eating and drinking at home but for a more expensive price. I had the burger and the mintnight drink. Both were satisfactory and the service was great considering there wasnt a table that was open. Great service. Great atmosphere. Great food and drink.

This place is such a gem for Beaverton. I have an out of town guest, that every time he comes in to town, we have gone here for dinner and never are disappointed. The food is wonderful, the wine list great - service was excellent. I know I will be going there again - and I recommend anyone to try it that has made it there yet

I could write the entire review in two words: Polenta fries. I went to Decarli for happy hour with a friend who recommended the place. We shared a salad, pizza and **insert angelic harmony here** these lovely salty and savory polenta fries. All three items were great, the server was very personable, and the ambiance was unlike anything else in Beaverton, which is a GOOD thing, by the way. We each had a pint , too. The total bill was only $20. We were both quite satisfied and I had a little slice of pizza to take home to my son, although I had to split it with him because I couldn't quite let it go... I'm giving four stars because I didn't have the full-meal-deal yet. It looks a bit pricey, so I'm going to wait for an occasion. I will, however, drop in at happy hour again soon.

I don't usually go to italian restaurants, but i had a coupon and thought i'd try it out. I was not really disappointed. I ordered the baked chicken over palenta and it was really good. The chicken was not dry and the polenta was great. The service was a little slow although i was there on a saturday night. It took about 45 minutes to get the food, however they fed us bread while we waited. I also tried the potato fritta which was also very good. Price of the food was up there, service lacking, but good food. I will probably go back.

The Decarli burger is hands down one of the best burgers in all of Portland!! I like hanging out at this place on a weekend night especially after 9pm when they have their after-dinner happy hour specials in the bar area (which offers tables). They have a nice selection of specialty drinks too. It's an upscale place (that almost doesn't even belong in Beaverton) so you can go dressy or casual and will feel at home.

Yet another 5 star review for this gem in Suburbia. We have been living in Beaverton for about 5 years now and this was our first visit to decarli. Believe me, it does not disappoint. Yes, it's crowded and a bit loud, that only proves that people want to be there. We ordered the polenta fries with gorgonzola butter (of course) as an appetizer. Superb. Shared a Cesar salad. Again, not too salty or fishy the croutons were just the right size and so crispy! (unlike the HUGE soggy toast sized ones you get at some places) I had the Farfalle with homemade lamb sausage. The pasta was cooked al-dente and the sausage was seasoned to perfection with just the right amount of heat. Husband ( a Chef with 30+ years experience) had the New York strip with fingerling potatoes. He said, and I am not exaggerating, "this is the best steak I have ever had" that says a lot, the guy has been around. Our server Mark was attentive without "helicoptering" us. We enjoyed a bottle of delicious Chianti with our meal, skipped dessert only because we didn't save enough room for it, next time, for sure. We WILL be back.

I thought I would try out Friday happy hour. I arrived a little early to find folks lined up at the door. I wound up getting the last seat at the bar. This is a very nice space with brick walls and high ceiling. Mostly definitely the nicest Beaverton restaurant appearance wise anyway. The bartender managed to be pretty attentive inspite of the onslaught of drink and food orders. I picked a happy hour sangiovese and prosciutto pizzetta. Excellent choice on the wine. Pizzetta was good, nice crisp crust, maybe a little salty. Better than Fratelli not as good as Ken's Artisan. Overall, much better than the average. Actually, the best place I have been to in Beaverton. So 5 stars. If it was in Pearl 4. Much easier to park... lol So 2 glasses of excellent wine and a tasty pizza $21. Good deal!

I'm not one to mince words nor do I bestow a five-star rating lightly. But tonight, I was absolutely blown away by this little neighborhood gem. Who knew a restaurant this good was in my own unfortunately suburban (read bland) backyard?? If you consume nothing there at all have the mussels. I am still reminiscing about the buttery saffron-fennel sauce that accompanied these fat locally-grown morsels. Mmmm, I can already speculate on how many hours I'll spend trying to replicate this incredible sauce. Enjoy it with a nice crisp glass of Prosecco and I assure you that you'll feel transported to a street-side cafe in Italy. But don't stop there; the rest of the food we had was also delightful right down to the well-executed classic pizza. Whoever said this place wasn't good for kids probably doesn't have them. We took our 7 year old who loved the orange Italian soda & the kids pizza (nicely priced at $7). Cafe Mingo doesn't have a kids menu, I can tell you that. The service was phenomenal. Our waiter Paul (french accent) was both personable and warm. He was shaking hands with other diners and cracking jokes and saying "Sweet!" in a fun accent that made both my son and me giggle a little. As someone who loathes the culinary wasteland that typically is Beaverton, I am thrilled to find my new favorite restaurant. I'll be back. Often. And I'm bringing friends.

My family took me there for my birthday, last night @ 7PM. There were 6 of us. it was packed but we had reservation, so we were seated right away. It was a perfect thing, they put us by the window, my MIL came with us and she started to whine, how she won't be able to hear us converse it was too noisy. But she & I sat together and we managed to talk to one another, or me with my almost 3 years old Grand baby. By 8PM, we could hear one another talking from across the table! I ordered Grilled Angus NY Strip Steak $28 Chanterelle mushrooms, (oh was there one, I forgot to look, I must have been eating it and not concentrating what else was in there), semolina fried potato (too salty they were on top of the mushrooms & steak), arugula, gorgonzola butter (both I LOVE). Can't you tell I'm more into veggies? I ordered medium, but it was perfect for MIL, because I showed it to her, and she likes hers rare! But I ate it anyway, it was THAT GOOD! I brought my other half home, so I can cook it longer or make it for sandwich. I could have ordered the ribs, but I was craving for steak all evening! I did took a tiny bite from my grand baby's meatballs and that I liked a lot! Next time. . . . .To finish off my birthday, I had the Tiramisu. It was the next best thing, to being on a cruise ship!

Who would have ever guessed a restaurant in Beaverton could compete with the 'big boys'? Decarli can easily hold its own against El Gaucho and Andina for food qhality and service. While those other guys might have desner crowds of hipsters, Decarli will have food that you won't forget! I lived overseas for a couple of years, and have had spaetzle from Bavaria to the Black Forest, but none was as good as the portion I had with the braised beef short ribs at Decarli! I ate this meal so slowly, I nearly finished the delicious Montepulciano my waitress astutely recommended before I took the last bite! I didn't want it to EVER end... My wife was speechless while enjoying her Tagliatelle, which is nearly an impossible phenomenon... If you want to take your special someone to a great dinner and don't want to fight the heinous drivers over the Vista Ridge on US 26, simply call Decarli and reserve your table for the best food found in Beaverton, bar none!

This restaurant typifies exactly what Beaverton is. It looks great on the inside and the people and the waitstaff is nice. The food is another story--there is a whole lot of garlic in everything. That garlic is covering up the lack of flavor in the dishes. The prices are reasonable and the food is so-so. I really believe the owner/chef is trying--but there are many, many other restaurants I would go to before going back.

Tough to give anyone a five, especially considering I've never actually had dinner there. I have had happy hour about six times though; based on that I have to go ahead and give them five. The happy hour food is excellent, the wine and beer selection is very, very good, and the service is outstanding. Brian has to be one of the best bartenders I've ever met. Follow up...Unfortunately when I went back again the bartender (different guy) was not that great at all. It was pretty disappointing. I still give the place 4.

Decarli has trumped clarklewis, bluehour, and the many Pearl fusion Mediterranean influenced restaurants. The first thing that you notice is the incredible ambiance. The industrial style incandescent light bulbs strung from long cords and the doors leaned up against the exposed brick walls lends to the deconstruction vibe that runs through the menu. It is rustic Italian through and through. When Robert is at the bar, he's amazing to watch, and fun to talk to. It is great to sit at the zebra wood bar and look into the open kitchen, with pizzettas flying in the air, and the myriad of smells wafting through from the back kitchen. Decarli is all about supporting the local growers, and you can taste the difference. My husband swears that their steak is the best in town, but I love the short ribs, or whatever pasta is being made that evening ...the morel tagliatella was out of this world, as is the pork ragu fettucine when it's on the menu . The pork chop is second to none, and the bricked chicken is equally delicious. We usually get the beet salad, which is wonderful, but they have an incredible ceasar, with large fronds of romaine, and a perfect balance of anchovies to lemon. The wine list is varied, but not extensive. I see this as a plus, because I hate it when the wine list is as thick as a phone book. The service is usually pretty good, but the food is the reason I keep coming back.

Been here twice..Excellent food. Prices are not over the top with entrees mostly in the 16-22 dollar range. I do agree with most other reviewers, service could be a little better. I will be back (for the food).

I don't know why it took me so long to find this excellent restaurant in my own neighborhood. From the poleta fries to the brick chicken and spumoni ice cream, everything was delicious! It's got great atmosphere which includes a chandelier from The Benson when it was remoled. Four of us went for dinner and each got something different. Spaghetti & meatballs, short ribs, steak and chicken. It was all wonderful

The service was quite good, with none of the waiting others had mentioned. The specialty drinks with grapefruit juice and vodka started the meal in good fashion. The beef and pork entrees did not disappoint, after the appetizer caramelized onions. Our tea pot of hot water was attended to intermittently which we liked. As others noted, the restaurant fits to a "T" as a place for special occasions.

Met a friend for happy hour and sat at the bar. I think this is one of the best happy hours. Extensive hh menu. I had the Pizzetta with portobello mushrooms, sweet onions, gorgonzola and sage-walnut pesto...delicious!! The crust is thin with a touch of garlic. The pizzetta was cooked to perfection and was $8.00. Big enough to share, but I would order a salad to go with it. I love their Caesar salad served with whole romaine lettuce. They have a nice wine list and happy hour wines are $5. Next time I will go for dinner; can't wait!!

Thank you, Decarli, for putting a big star on the Beaverton map of dining! It is on rare occasion that we head west of Hwy 217 to eat but find ourselves doing so more and more since we discovered Decarli. We have eaten at Decarli 8-10 times and the food continues to impress. We ususally start each meal with an order of the polenta fries and a salad. I could probably make an entire meal from the fries with the yummy gorgonzola butter sauce but I manage to save room for an entree. The Pan Roasted Brick Chicken is perfectly executed..tenderly crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. It is served with seasonal sides usually including a decadent potato or polenta. The Braised Beef Short Ribs melt in your mouth and are perfect for a chilly fall night. I have tried several of the pastas and have found each one delicious. The service is pleasant and knowledgeable about the wine list. The only reason I don't give Decarli 5 stars is because of the noise level in the main dining room. The exposed brick walls and high ceilings make for a very noisy dining experience.

This is a Pearl District experience plopped right down in Beaverton. My "last meal" for years is their short ribs. I don't know how to describe how good everything here is. It may be the only thing I miss about living in Beaverton since we moved. :)

I've had the opportunity to eat here twice and for the adventurousness of the restaurant, I would definetely give it a five. The menu changes everyday (you can see the date on the corner of every menu) and many of the items incorporate seafoods/veggies in season. Even though it's located in a nondescript area of Beaverton surrounded by gas stations, car dealers, and fast food restaurants, it manages to give off a Pearl district atmosphere. I've never tried their cocktails but their wine list is decent. Wish they had more wines by the glass though...The food though, was hit or miss. The chicory salad had a lot of fresh local ingredients in it and was perfect. The bruschetta trio had a yummy assortment of toppings but the bread was past the point of crunchy and was borderline burnt. The fritto misto had way too much batter on it but the accompanying olive aioli was awesome. The pizzetta was perfect one day and I declared it was the best pizza I've had in Portland (the very best pizza has to go to Pizza Mozza in LA) but then, the last time I went, the bottom was burnt and hard. The pastas are housemade and I love how they are served al dente, but the lamb ragu fettuccine was way too salty. Maybe the restaurant is still working out the kinks, but I hate it when restaurants aren't consistent with their food. But what really brought down this restaurant from a 4 to a 3 was the service. First of all, the restaurant is LARGE and there are not enough servers. Second of all, our waiter tried to take away our plates without asking first. That is unprofessional and it made us feel rushed. The thing is, both times we went to the restaurant, this happened. Are waiters told to do this?? So even though I have a lot of critiques for this restaurant, I think it's still worth a try. If you go on a good day, I think you'll love it and it will definitely be up to par with other italian restaurants downtown. I think I'll go back just one more time to see if service/food has improved, and maybe to try the desserts.

Wonderful! I took a chance and for my visit took an out-of-town guest. Well, we were completely pleased with the decision. Fantastic food had by all. I had the gnocchi, and I loved it! The drinks were also great. Love the location, as Beaverton is mostly chain restaurants, this is a welcome surprise.

Wow. Just.... wow. The sous chef at decarli is a good friend of one of my friends, so we went to go check it out, and it was absolutely AMAZING. The food was great, the service was great, and the atmosphere was great, though I would like to see some sort of decoration on the big, blank brick wall. We started with the endive salad, beet salad, and carrot soup, which were all glorious (well, I didn't eat the beet salad because I don't like beets, but my friend said it was great). The hazelnuts and apricot in the endive salad were awesome. For the main course, my friend had the hanger steak, and I had the balsamic glazed pork chop. I think pork chops have been ruined forever for me... I've never had a pork chop this fantastic. It was, in a nutshell, epic. The balsamic roasted cherries were a nice touch. I had a taste of my friends hanger steak, and it was also fabulous. For dessert.. we kind of had a lot of dessert. The bourbon gelato was amazing, both the flavor and the texture. The chocolate mousse was really, really good, but also really, really rich. I could only have a couple of bites otherwise I may have suffered death by chocolate, but man it would have been a good way to go. My favorite though, was the financier with apricots. It was the best dessert I've ever had. The hazelnuts and apricots made another appearance and were once again fabulous. The brown butter whipped cream was good. The caramel was perfect. So yeah, it was a GREAT meal that made my terrible day just not even matter anymore, because I had a (very) full, happy belly. I think everybody needs to go have dinner here.

Food and Drink: In general, the food and drink are very good and reasonably consistent. In detail, the crostini appetizer, Blockheadia Zinfandel and pork chop entrée were very good; the orecchiette entrée and peach crostata were merely good; and the Spanish coffee was superb. In addition, the prices usually were justified by the quality of the food and drink. Only the orecchiette was overpriced. (Pasta is cheap, so a $16.00 pasta entrée must be superb, not merely good.) The Spanish coffee, at $8.50, seemed overpriced - until I tasted it and wondered if I could drink another and still drive home. (Alas, I decided I could not.) The wine, at $32.00, was a good value. In most restaurants, $32.00 will get you a bottle that sells for $8.00 to $16.00 at any grocery; but Blockheadia sells for $20-30.00, so it appears that Decarli's markup is (by American restaurant standards) a very modest 50% over retail, not the usual 200-300%. Question: Decarli is, without doubt, the finest Italian restaurant in Portland's western suburbs. It may be the finest restaurant overall, especially in light of its reasonable prices. Why, then, despite repeated excellent reviews, was it standing ninety percent empty at 6:30 PM on a Friday evening? Why was it doing such an excellent imitation of a restaurant that will not survive its first anniversary? Which, by the way, comes up this November. Answer #1? Our dinner with tip was well over $100.00. At that price, we demand a quiet dinner in pleasant surroundings where we can converse, relax and enjoy ourselves. We suspect most other people do, too. Yet, when we walked in, the music (?) blaring over the speakers sounded as if someone was being kicked to death in front of a microphone. I asked, "Will this screaming continue?" Oblivious at first, our waitress soon got the point and not only reduced the volume but changed the recording to soft jazz. It's not my favorite but neither was it a gut-churning accompaniment to a meal and a bar to conversation. Most restaurants provide their patrons with noise, lots of noise, and most get away with it. Hard, echoing surfaces? Of course: they're easy to clean. Loud, fast, obnoxious music? Absolutely: it keeps the employees' guts wound up and their feet moving. But not when dinner is over $100.00. At $100.00, you're not selling hamburgers to four-year olds. At $100.00, you have to consider your patrons. Answer #2? Speaking of four-year olds, when we walked in, the only other patrons in the restaurant were a young couple with a four- or five-year old girl. (Another four or five people were hanging out in the bar.) I looked askance at the family but soon realized that the child was well-trained and well-behaved. (I confess I hadn't realized that there was a well-trained, well-behaved child in Beaverton.) She was aware of her surroundings, sitting up ramrod straight and having a great time playing the dignified young lady. At that age, an hour is an eternity, but I guessed she would last through the meal. She did. Toward the end, she was beginning to play at other things, sliding off her chair and ducking under the table; but she did so quietly and, when her parents saw the corner coming, they actually cared. They didn't linger. However, as they left, a second couple walked in with a child, this one about three, obviously unaware of her surroundings and playing with a cell phone as a sort of twenty-first century sugar tit. This one, I knew, would not last, but we were into dessert, so we kept our fingers crossed that the atmosphere would remain pleasant for another fifteen minutes. Shortly thereafter, a third couple walked in, carrying an infant, to join the second couple with the child. We had, at most, another ten minutes. We got out before the situation deteriorated into the squalls and screams that the uncaring parents would pretend not to hear. On the way home, Lana asked me what a restaurant could do about that. I responded that it is not within management's purview to decide what negligent parents should do with their children, only to decide what they cannot do with them. When children blow up in a public place, as they must when nailed to a chair for an hour or more, management must explain to those at fault -- the parents, not the children - that they cannot create a disturbance that annoys other patrons. What the parents do about their problem remains their problem; it's not the restaurant's problem. Is Decarli prepared to challenge that kind of rude behavior? In my opinion -- and in the opinion of other Yelpers, who rate Decarli "good for kids" -- Decarli is not prepared to do any such thing. I'd guess that Decarli's management thinks it needs every patron it can get. That's why this fine restaurant stands ninety percent empty at 6:30 PM on a Friday night. Silly adult, Decarli is for kids.

I received a gift card, so I saved it for my birthday and went with my fiance. The food is good, especially the espresso braised ribs he had and their much-adored polenta fries. I pretty much just return for happy hour. Its a good place to go for me because I can walk there (yay, no drunk taxi or MAX rides!). Honestly, people who complain that there's better in Portland, I wouldn't disagree. But I don't drive, so that limits my options when i don't feel like making a huge trip out for a drink. So in the neighborhood, this is the best. That being said, I give it a four because I love the ambiance (sophisticated without being bougie) and the cocktails are very good. Go with the signature decarli or caldoce and you're set. If you're not a cocktail person, they have an okay beer selection and I had a good syrah last time I went.

I hate to be the first person NOT to give this restaurant five stars. For the price of the food, I have to do 4.5. I wasn't blown away - but it was very good. Dined here last night for a Birthday dinner with my family. I'll say that for a restaurant in the middle of the suburbs, it's excellent. Service was fantastic and we had a great table next to the window. I was fortunate enough to dine with people who like to share - so I got to try a ltitle bit of everything. Starters: Bread at the table was decent. Standard bread and butter. I should have asked for some olive oil. Whatever. We ordered the pan fried calamari with pickled onion, and a sun dried tomato pizzetta with whole garlic cloves broiled on top. The calamari paired with the onion was excellent. The pizzetta was extremely thin crust, light sauce, and flavorful enough. If I had to order starters again, I'd pass on the pizzetta. Entrees, we ordered the hangar steak broiled in a 30 year vinaigrette (medium and rare), the Risotto with prawns, and the Penne with ground pork cream sauce and shaved parmigiana. The steak was excellent - much more flavorful cooked at medium than at rare. The risotto was OK. In large forkfuls it had a decent flavor - but overall seemed rather bland. The Penne was good - I'm glad I personally ordered the steak. Desserts were the ricotta lemon cheesecake with huckleberry topping, almond cake with vanilla gelato, vanilla creme brulee, and profitoroles with espresso ice cream. So I thought the best of the four was the creme brulee. Very creamy, perfect shell on top, cracked very nicely. The lemon cheesecake was my least favorite - the huckleberry was excellent - but the cake itself was somewhat dull (I thought it tasted better with a little bit of the chocolate sauce from the profitoroles). The rest of the desserts were good. It could be my reviewed is biased by the fact that the night before I had just experienced Pix Patisserie for the first time. THAT PLACE IS AMAZING - sorry side tracked. :-) For the price and location this restaurant is very very good. The reviewer who said you won't go home full or with food on your plate was telling the truth. With two glasses of wine, a cup of coffee, and one margarita added to the above food - it came to about $40/person after tip. I'd make this a place to go to on special occasions, but I would never come here regularly. I'm willing to travel downtown or to other neighborhoods to find equally as good food for a little less money.

Excellent food - Excellent service. Ambiance has a very European feel. What a find in Beaverton. Not a kid friendly place but excellent for a special evening when you're looking for more substance than just ambiance. We especially enjoyed the octopus appetizer.

We went there last night. The food was very boring. My pasta pieces were stuck together, I bet that a 9-year old can manage to do better cooking orecchiette. My entree with shrimp and chorizo was greasy and one-dimensional. The attitude of their staff is very pretentious, give me a break this is Beaverton for crying out loud, what is the pretention about! My partner ordered the penne and asked the waiter to omit the ricotta and use a tomato based sauce instead of the cream but leaving the rest of the ingredients as is. What she got was a bowl of penne topped with Marinara, that is no other ingredients. The price for penne topped with marinara was $17, do they think they are in downtown NYC? Bottom line, won't go there again.

Decarli serves up some of the best food I have had in my entire life. Growing up in the Napa Valley, you find fine dining on every corner and a Michelin star (or more) in many restaurants. Decarli is on the same playing field with any one of those restaurants. The calamari dish was creative and decadent. The use of olives, chick peas and a caper aioli had my mouth singing. The sauce that was home to the mussel appetizer made me want to take a bath in it! I have never ordered an mussel appetizer that looked like an entree portion before - the only reason we didn't finish the dish is because we knew we had salmon on the way - and the salmon did not disappoint. I am looking forward to my next visit to Decarli. Perhaps I will find more items to bathe in!

I finally got to stop in for happy hour and I'm glad I did! The polenta fries are crispy and are set off with the Gorgonzola butter! The paninis are way bigger than I thought, a full meal. The bruschetta looked yummy so I'll try that next time. Same with the truffled almonds and pizzetta. The bar fills up very quickly for happy hour and everything is very affordable!

Great food and ambience with super service. Menu changes daily so lots of interesting things on the menu using fresh ingredients - including oysters, mussels, polenta fries with gorganzola butter, salmon, pasta, chicken, pizza. I ordered the heirloom tomato salad and it was one of the best I've ever had with fresh mozzarella, basil and peaches. Also shared one of their pizzettas and it was divine - toppings included roasted garlic cloves (which were sweet and tender) and their own roasted tomatoes. So glad to have finally found a great "non-chain" restaurant in Beaverton! The only negative was that it was difficult to find parking on the street.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere, friendly service! They have a great wine list, reasonable prices. Very open layout, nice hard wood floors. Can be romantic or great for a group. A great alternative to Hall Street - such a rare selection of nice places to eat in Beaverton, my husband and I love this place! Haven't had a bad dish yet, but the short ribs are still my favorite.

My 2nd visit to Decarli. Friends and I had a great meal (again)! We split two Cesar salads to begin (nice flavor, but mine could have used a little more dressing); entrees: arctic char with celery root, tagliatelle with mushrooms, and the most delicious wild boar ragu with penne (took me right back to Tuscany!) apple crumble with cinnamon ice cream and profiteroles for dessert. Everything was excellent; we brought a bottle of wine we'd picked up earlier in the day while wine tasting and they opened it for a reasonable corkage fee. Would I go back, you bet, yum!!!!!

I had the good fortune to spot this new eatery on Yelp. I was meeting a girlfriend for dinner, and last minute changes redirected us from our usual Portland locations. I offered to do a quick look-up on Yelp to see whay I could find. I am so glad I came across this new and well-recommended restaurant. So it was rainy and cold. Stepping in to this visually arresting space was like stepping in to another world. Two large spaces are adjoined by an open archway. A vast swath of exposed brick with suspended spot lighting and then a huge chandelier in the back make the dining room sparkle. The main attraction in the bar is the bar itself. Take a closer look and you'll see that it mimics the material in the exposed support beams high up on the ceiling. The bar was presided over by a gregarious host. We were very early, the place was empty. It could have seemed echoing and unappealing, but he immediately engaged us with stories about the restaurant, the proprietors and the shared excitement of the staff in making this a happening and successful spot. The bar was well stocked. My companion enjoyed the Basket Case 05 Syrah ($8/glass) while I quickly examined the gin selection, proclaiming Decarli a hit when confirming Hendricks was on the list. After cocktails, we moved into the large dining area ... which was sparsely populated. We were seated at a tiny 2 person table, smack up against the wall and directly under an air vent with cool air coming down. We elected to move ourselves to a center table for 4, and the staff handled it graciously. We shared the house cured duck prosciutto starter with manchego cheese, sun-dried cherry compote and crostini. Very tasty and a bargain at $9. Perfect size for us 2 girls and beautifully presented. Next, pappardelle with boar ragu ($14) for me and spinach & ricotta ravioli with white wine, roasted garlic and tomato ($15) for my friend. Fresh was the key word here ... the flavors were so bright and well paired on the ravioli, I wouldn't change a thing. The papardelle was cooked perfectly, the savory sauce mouthwatering. I had a Hedges CMS from Washington ($8.5/glass) and the big wine accompanied the boar perfectly. Well, by this time we were edging on full ... but the tempting dessert menu convinced us to share a chocolate pot de creme. It was good, but served too coldly refrigerated which diminished the creaminess of the dessert. We left (after dawdling for over 3 hours!) gleaming from the great evening and the discovery of a little gem in downtown Beaverton. Treat yourself soon and check it out!

The food here is phenomenal, very classy, very fine dining, in a casual yet sophisticated atmosphere. The house mixed drinks are also very good and will bring you back to try them all. Great place to take a date and plan on spending ~ $100 for a couple if you want wine ;) This is truly a hidden gem amongst Beaverton restaurants.

I'm going to keep this short: Food: excellent, served at proper temperature and without super long wait, even on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Ambiance: great decor, nice space, but a bit loud with nothing to absorb the sound of a full dining room plus the overly loud background music. Service: prompt, attentive, friendly Location: it's great to have a good fine dining restaurant (which also isn't stuffy or intimidating) located on the west side of the metro area.

Like others here have mentioned before me, Decarli is a nice restaurant to go to when you want a Pearl-type feel without actually having to go to the Pearl. With its brick walls, open floor plan, and exquisitely lit dining room, you will be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't appreciate its ambience. If you're looking for a good place to take a date out in Beaverton, Decarli is your spot. As for the food, it's pretty good. I've never had anything that I would describe as objectively bad. In fact, I would say that most of their food is succulent, flavorful, and refined. My only real gripe with this place is its menu and the choices (or lack thereof) it offers. That's not to say that their selection is sparse; it's just not exactly robust. On a related note, I think they might try too hard at times to keep their menu items exciting and unique. While it's great to stand out from the crowd, sometimes you gotta offer something simple and traditional so that you can appease everyone (and not just the foodies). 3.5 stars for Decarli.

Great appetizers. The polenta fries are to die for! Salty goodness... mmmm! I ordered the risotto for my entree since they ran out of the gnocchi and I don't eat meat. Unfortunately they also ran out of scallops and lobster and only had shrimp. I was taken by surprise at the spiciness of the dish. Luckily I had lots of water to douse the flames. The ambiance was great, service was outstanding, the kitchen was a bit slow. Robert, one of my favorite bartenders in all of Washington County was manning the bar. I will go back again but will get there early before all the good stuff is gone.

Absolutely delicious! Their happy-hour burger is the BEST burger I've ever had. Their pastas and entrees are absolutely fantastic. Actually, their whole menu has never disappointed me. Service is good, but like all restaurants, tends to slow down when the dining room is packed. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation -- it does get busy! The food is well worth it -- especially for the price. It really is the best food for your dollar.

If I could give 3.5 start i would. it was pretty good food but nothing amazing. There isn't much to compare it to in beaverton, but if you are really in the mood for food like this, drive the extra ten minutes to one of the dozens of places in portland that do it better. not a bad experience, just A-OK

I decided to revisit after I had a VERY disappointing first visit to Decarli, we tried one more time. I have now learned my lesson about sitting in the bar area now. Don't do it. We had the same bartender both times and he seems overwhelmed just bringing drinks (waited 10 mins after ordering them). What?! You make the damn drinks, your bar customers should have the speediest drinks in the place! The food both times has taken a VERY long time, including the apps, (first time one HOUR!!) this time oysters on the half shell (very nice presentation when they came, very fresh and tasty). I mean we wait to the point where we are asking other servers if we got forgotten. I think maybe again, its that bartender. When he approached us and realized that over 30 mins had gone by with no app, he went to the computer, CLEARLY to check if he had even ordered it! (yes I work in the industry, I know what was up). The food came split seconds after the app, but the meal was VERY good. Like VERY VERY good. But as most people know, AMAZING food with poor to terrible service means we were left feeling "meh". The very small menu also both times has had several items sold out. I can understand a few items being out if you have several entrees but they have like 6-8 choices and 3 are unavailable?? Also the drinks, twice now I have tried 2-3 different cocktails, as I love my foo-foo drinks. At pearl prices, $8.50+, this cocktail list has a couple of stars and a lot of "sounds good on the list" but then tastes like there's a bartender who can't execute the building of the drink. I'm sure he's very nice, but he cannot handle waiting the tables, making the drinks and delivery. The bartender should be the rockstar in the whole place. Decarli if you are going to truly shine, you need to lose, or retrain this guy. Or let him handle the bar only, give the tables to a server. I will sit in the restaurant next time and maybe edit my review if needed. Until then, spend your (no small amount!) money in the pearl, only 20 mins east!

Note: would be closer to four if the service was better, and I hadn't ordered dessert. Went here for a dinner with two others. The appetizers were all pretty good, prosciutto wrapped asparagus was nice, tasted as it should. Carpaccio was also pretty good, and the fig spread on the charcuterie board was also really tasty. the risotto was great, it had a nice light flavor, good texture and the shrimp was tender also. The gnocci was OK, the sauce was a little salty and the gnocci was a little chewy. I had high expectations for the gnocci since I was told it was 'excellent' by the waiter. If I hear that then I want tender fluffy pillows of goodness. They just didn't quite fit the bill. Won't be back for dessert, the lemon cake was way dry even with the sabayon. Service wasn't bad, but we were never checked back on to see if everything was satisfactory. Three courses of dinner and not a single how is your dinner. Mechanically the server was sound, although we saw the busser more than him. He also was rushing us somewhat to order drinks so I wasn't too fond of his approach. Over all would go back but no dessert, and at least you can vary your tip if the service isn't too good.

Update - 1/27/2010 4++ stars. 4.5, but we can't do half-stars! They've exceeded my expectations on several occasions. They've actually gotten better over the past year. We've been repeat diners for breakfast/brunch and it was no less than amazing. 'I heart' breakfast pizza!!!! Who wouldn't? The crust is amazing and who can go wrong with bacon, egg and cheese on this amazing crispy, slightly blackened crusty deliciousness? My hubby had his usual bubble & squeak (aka eggs/bacon) and also breakfast hash which he loved so much, he wasn't willing to share until I threatened him with the evil eye. Great food, innovative and wow, I'm so surprised it's in Beaverton!! I must agree, it feels more PDX than Bvtn, in the best of all compliments to the area and establishment. We've also returned for dinner and only once did we have a server who was on the aloof side. She wasn't rude, just not very warm. But my only TRUE Gripe.... and I feel it is my civic duty to comment on the stem ware: With dinners, we ordered a bottle of wine in the $40-50 price range and were supplied crappy, small-bowl wine glasses. It was as though they were mass produced cheap stemware from one of the (K-, Wal-) 'marts'. However, upon looking around, at the end of our 2 hour dinner, we noticed a lot of other patrons had nice Riedel stemware, which seemed more appropriate for the big Italian varietal we ordered. Lesson learned: next time-ask for the decent glasses if you care. And if you don't, feel free to be blissful with the kiddie glasses. I hope decarli doesn't change a thing, this local spot is one of the best things going in Beaverton. *********************** Original posting deleted from 12/18/2008 "decarli" was very good over all. We always love trying new places, and never heard of decarli until it appeared on our passport card. It's always a great way to try a new place and we always get one entree gratis! It was a great night. We were in no rush, but made reservations for a Saturday night, which we were glad we did. The restaurant, when we arrived (7:30pm), was 3/4 full of happy patrons. We started with a bottle of wine (italian Blend). Unfortunately (here's the reason they are not 4.5 stars), the wine list falls a bit short. Too many California wines, not enough local (OR/WA) wines. We will never buy California wines when dining in OR/Wa, Support local!! And they offer only a handful of Italian/old world wines. Moreover, there were only a few wines at a reasonable price (under $50 per bottle is reasonable price for a restaurant of this caliber ). Their wine list on their website is out dated, as they had nearly replaced every one of those wines and their mark up which was 50% is NOW150-200%. Which is ashame, as that would be the reason for many repeat visits with or without the free meal. So, now on to the good parts: the food....... We started with beet salad, which was not Italian inspired, but Middle Eastern perhaps, with yoguart, chick peas, cumin...it was innovative and divine! The polenta fries, which my husband calls placenta, were different, and the gorgonzola sauce was excellent. Another creative idea, and we both loved them. Finally, something to convince him polenta is awesome when done right! For our mains, I had the pork dish, it was amazing, local ingredients, lot of flavor and tender. My husband had the NY steak and loved it. It was a tad over cooked, but he ate every bite. It was very tasty, smattering of gorgonzola and balsalmic reduction sauce, excellent. Service was very, very good. Our sever never let our table run out of bread, water and checked in appropriately. He seemed to know we were in no hurry and respected that. Dessert, we should have chosen something else, as the English pudding, was not English pud, it was ok. My husband, hated it (he's English). It didn't have a lot of taste, was similar to a pumpkin spice type pie. Solid 4 stars for this innovative, use of fresh ingredients, so tasty eatery! We would return often if they go back to their old wine list model (price reduction, more PNW wines). But as it stands, this would be for special occasions mostly. PS, this place is not suitable for babies, or mis-behaved children. It's an adult restaurant and no screaming children would be welcome!

This was our first visit to this restaurant, but I can assure you it won't be our last! We didn't make reservations, which I really recommend. They told us it was an hour wait, or we could sit in the bar area. We ended up with a very small table right at the opening to the kitchen. At first we were put off, but the waitress was very friendly and made us feel right at home. From that point, it was pure entertainment. The kitchen staff [appeared] to be friendly to each other, focused, and extremely organized. The expeditor was exceptionally good, and kept the food coming out hot. The presentation for the food was pure artistry, and mouth-watering. We started out with the olives (house cured) and carmelized onions served with rustic toast points. WOW! is an understatement; however, I would have like a little more cheese on it. The main entree was the brick roasted chicken with bread pudding. This was so tender and juicy, and the skin was crispy, but the aroma was the thing that lured you into tasting it. Pure heaven for the chicken lover! I had the gnocci stuffed with goat cheese; at least I thought it was goat cheese, because it was so creamy and sensual in my mouth, it was tough to stop eating. The richness was tantalizing without being over-processed. The desserts were heaven, and the house coffee wasn't bad either. Oh yeah, I'll be revisiting this place, but next time I'm making reservations!! The cons to this place is the parking - on street, if you can find it. The prices are on the high-end, but well deserved. Save it for that special occasion if you must, but definitely put it on your list of places to visit.

Since my first review (which wasn't very favorable) I have returned to Decarli again... and again... and again... and it just gets better every time. If you're coming from Beaverton/West Hills and think that you have to head into Portland to get some truly sophisticated cuisine, give Decarli a try. You won't be disappointed! I was there just the other night and the fresh salmon they have there right now is just heavenly! Also try the gnocchi with wild boar ragu... there are no words which could adequately describe how delicious this dish is! A must have!

Went there on a Saturday night @ 7PM without reservations and they were packed as expected, however we were able to get seated at the bar. The bartender although busy was quick with our cocktails and provided us with great service throughout the night. We started with the Polenta fries (which were fabulous) and the Beet salad. Entrees were the braised short ribs for me and for the wife the brick chicken and both were awesome. For dessert we shared the Peanut Butter Gelato Sundae...yum!

Decarli has carved out a special niche for itself in Beaverton. It has created a fine dining experience that acts as an anchor to the very walkable and welcoming area of Old Central Beaverton. Browsing in the small shops in this area plus a walk of the parks and little neighborhoods followed by happy hour at this place would be a great place to spend your time. I have met the Decarli family through a friend and they seem to love what they do and are very committed to bringing a true high quality dining experience. They live in Beaverton and are a part of this community. I have been there for happy hour twice so far and plan to go back for full dinner sometime soon when money and time allow. Food was tasty, filling and had a real flare to it that showed attention was being closely paid to it. Good ambience and a nicely decorated dining room are welcoming but with large windows it has an outside/inside feel to it, especially in the summer. Come on down when you are in Beaverton.

My S.O and I have been here several times and we love this place! The menu is a little small, but changes regularly. We've loved everything we've tried so far. We always get the bruscetta for an appetizer and the one with chicken liver pate is to die for! I like that they get their ingredients locally as well. Highly recommended!

The sturgen was well executed, but very bland. The primary flavor was salt. This overpriced $25 entree was more mush than texture. The waiter ignored our critique. The wine was excellent. The second concern is that this is a very noisy restaurant. It was so loud, we could hardly hold a conversation, and we are not hard of hearing. The noise makes makes this place fail as a romantic restaurant. I hope they will invest in noise buffering and rearrange their seating plan. I don't plan to return.

We finally got to Decarli on a night where it was open and didn't already have a mile long waiting list. We have tried three times and once were turned away because there was just no way we were getting in and two other times where we came on the wrong day of the week. You think we'd learn... So, we made reservations and got in. The evening started off nicely, and the waiter was attentive we ordered drinks and an AMAZING appetizer with mussels. However, once our friends arrived we were overlooked (we think this was partly due to the large table of people seated in the same section with us). It took a while to get the server back for our friends to even order their drinks, while we guiltily continued to eat our appetizer (we tried to share they just aren't seafood people). Anyway, we all finally ordered our entrees and it took quite a while to get those as well. All of the food was incredible and lives up to the hype, for sure! The ambiance was lovely, but the acoustics made small talk virtually impossible (again possibly due to the party of about 20 seated near us). So, overall super food in taste and presentation, but really underwhelmed with the service. Perhaps we'll go again sometime in the future for another try. Until then...I'm sayin' three stars.

Great ambience and service. The melon salad was delectable. There were very few vegetarian entrees. Food was good but a little cheesy for my liking. I will revisit for the whole package: decent food great ambience and good service. A little on the pricier side tough.

The service was great and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant had a really nice layout and I like the fact they change their menu changes daily and seasonally. The food on the other hand is a different story. I do think this place can be great! We were really excited to try all the dishes we ordered because they looked awesome on the menu. It could be the combination of things we ordered but in general we found the food to be too salty and not very well balanced. For instance the melon salad had way too much spice and some of the other ingredients like the green olives, and cheese didn't meld well with the melon. The calamari dish had the potential to be great, but again it was like the base was reduced for too long. The pasta dish with panchetta had very little balance. The dish would have been been better if they allowed the pancetta and cheese to stand but the sauce had like a strong beef flavor and was again, too salty. We may try he place again for a light meal and some drinks next time.

There used to be a time when I felt that I had to drive all the way to Portland for fine dining. Decarli has completely changed that. I have now attended Decarli several times and it has become my go-to place when I want some outstanding food close to home. Great place!

Some friends had stumbled across this place, wanting to try it out. So we went last night. A happening little place in SW Beaverton - much like what you might find downtown or in the Pearl. The industrial look with brick accent. Beautiful looking bar and open kitchen. I had the Honey Crisp and Walnut salad. Very mild and pleasing salad...I wish I had more of it. Then followed the shrimp risotto, which was outstanding. Portions to price was reasonable. Service was a little slow for not being 'that' busy. But not unreasonable. I would certainly revisit.

So I was a BIG FAN of Tuscany Grill, a lovely little place on NW 21st. I heard the owner of this restaurant had a connection to Tuscany Grill, so I was eager to try it. I have to say I was not disappointed. The food was really yummy (similar to what was served at Tuscany Grill) - salty and rich and delicious! And the service was fab! (Shout out to our server Priya!) Here is the rundown, plate by plate: (1) Polenta fries - nomnomnom, nomnomnom. Salty and crispy! I would eat these rather than fries anytime! (My bf said he would prefer potato fries, but he is a loyal man and a true potato lover). (2) Chilled Melon Soup - yum! Salty and sweet and acidic. Maybe a touch too acidic? But really so delicious I didn't mind. (3) Shortribs w/ Spaetzle (bf and I both got this) - YUM! Totally reminded me of the shortribs they served at Tuscany Grill. Delicious and rich. Loved the sauce. My only criticism was that the meat could have been a bit more tender - I want to be honest here. Nonetheless I would order this again! (My bf said he wished it was served with mashed potatoes, but remember this is coming from a meat-and-potato man - see (1)). We also enjoyed some nice Voignier (white) wine. Overall: delicious. I guess I pretty much would not give anything 5 stars - unless it COMPLETELY blew my mind, but I definitely am eagerly awaiting my return! (Keep in mind, I was raised in and presently live in downtown Portland - so I have never been eager to visit Beaverton in my life! Except maybe to go to Uwajimaya or Target.) Cheers DeCarli! I think you could potentially be the new Tuscany Grill!!!!

The decor was awesome, but the food here was OK for the price. We had two entrees and the total came to $42. Ouch. We also missed some more traditional Italian fare. There wasn't too much of an extensive menu. Don't think we will be back.

I finally got around to visiting decarli on saturday night, i'd been trying to get over there for 2 weeks, but it just wouldn't work out. let me tell you, it was worth the wait. the food was delicious. Mussels, beet and pear salad, potato and mushroom gnocchi, and seafood risotto were all spectacular. we also had the bread pudding, and the pear chocolate tart, also great. the wine selection was small, but well rounded and reasonably priced, and our waiter picked out an excellent bottle for us. its kinda out of the way (who thought anything good could be eaten in beaverton?) but the staff, ambiance, and most importantly the food more then make up for it.

How nice to discover a restaurant in the burbs that is absolutely fabulous. Reservations recommended on a Friday night. We started with a Declari signature cocktail at the bar. We shared onion/goat cheese crostini, pear and beet salad, mushroom risotto and scallops on a bed of celery root. Wine selection was reasonable. We chose a bottle of Sokol Blosser Pinot Gris that paired nicely with our food. Sharing helps save room for dessert and we had the profiteroles. I can't wait to return to try other selections on the menu!

The quality of food and service of Decarli's is hard to find in Beaverton. Mingo's is my other Beaverton favorite for an "upscale" as it gets for Beaverton type restaurant. Decarli's is currently a hidden gem but I don't expect it to stay that way. Even my dinner group of "food snobs" loved the food and ambiance. Our waiter provided us with amazing service. If you are into cocktail, I had one of the most amazing cocktails there-some type of pear martini. There is something delicious and unique for everyone: pizza, steak, seafood, & pasta. All beautiful and delicious. You don't have to spend a fortune but you can if you go all out. It has a feel of a downtown restaurant. I'm so glad we have them in Beaverton. They are in a cool location too, in the Old Town part of Beaverton (if you can call it that). If you become their twitter friend, you will find out about their fun happy hours! The twitters are very enticing!

I've eaten here maybe 6 times over the last year. It's pretty much in the "nosedive" state now, going from 4* food and 5* service to the fiasco of last night--cold oversalted food and service so bad we sat for 45 minutes waiting for the waitress to return (I cornered her at the hostess station, otherwise we might never have been served). This was the worst meal I've had in 2-3 years, and was doubly embarassing as I made the reservation for a large party. I was shocked we weren't comped anything after speaking with the hostess about our lack of service. I won't ever be going back to this mockery of a restaurant. Clearly others have gotten the same impression as of late, as the dining room wasn't even that crowded at 7:30. Total thumbs down.

We've never been disappointed at Decarli's. My husband and I believe that it's now the best restaurant in the Beaverton area for the price or worries about paying for parking. Decarli's has changed our thoughts about driving into the Pearl for a great dinner. Our experience is that the food the fresh, nicely plated and great tasting.

Tried this place after seeing the reviews on Yelp. Very busy Sat nt, lucky to get a table for the 4 of us. Good appetizers and salads. However took over 1 hr to get the entrees. My wife and I had gotten different entrees but the food was so incredibly salty, we couldn't finish the meals. The waitress was wondering why we had only eaten half of our meals and we did tell her. We would have eaten less but we had waited so long, we were starving at that point. They were gracious in comp'ing us the entrees but we very much would have preferred to pay the whole price for decent entrees. It's too bad. The atmosphere is very nice and it would have been a nice alternative to going into Portland. Maybe we'll just have to try something different next time.

I had a wonderful experience at Decarli. I live in Beaverton and was very surprised to hear of a new restaurant (opened 4 months ago) in the area that I had not yet heard of, especially one of such caliber. The service was wonderful. Within the first minute of walking in the door we were seated, brought water and bread. The servers were top notch and very knowledgeable about the menu and cooking techniques. The menu is shorter than most - which was a much-welcomed change for me - every entre sounded like a masterpiece! I had the black tagliatelle and my boyfriend had the short ribs. Both dishes were full of flavor and perfectly portioned (you will not be bring home any doggie bags, but you will not be unsatisfied at the end of your meal either). I did not get a drink, but the menu was equally as impressive as the food menu with offbeat classics such as the negroni available. The only marginal note about my experience, and the only apparent newness of the establishment, were the two over-anxious hovering hostesses. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone; especially the people of Beaverton like myself who desperately need more upstanding places to eat close to home.

This is the best restaurant in Beaverton. My wife and I are glad to finally have found a place in the burbs that isn't in a strip mall. The cazeula was incredible. We'll be back.

Went here for a friends 50th party. I didn't see the bill, but I am sure the damage was decent, we brought 3 bottles of champagne and bought 2 bottles of red and had enough people to hit the mandatory 18% gratuity. But the place was absolutely amazing. The food was expertly prepared, exquisitely presented, and delicious. I had no idea that Beaverton had a place of anywhere near this quality... I was in shock at first, then pissed that I hadn't found out about this place earlier... I mean I lived in the area for 12 years and never went until now! They handled our group very well and we had everything from a teenager to a senior in a wheelchair. This cannot be easy, but they did it without hesitation and did it expertly. I will definitely go back and I like knowing of a place that can really handle a diverse group so well.

I treated myself to a romantic late night dinner for one. Decarli has been a place I have wanted to try for awhile. I was pleasantly surprised at the warm welcoming interior of exposed brick walls, high wooden beam ceilings, lamps, and flickering candles galore. I had la paloma from their HH drink menu. Grapefruit, tequila (?), and few other things and it was perfect Summer drink. My fennel, garlic, and spinach topped mussels were one of myfavorites in recent memory. The white wine broth and the perfectly cooked mussels were ready for extra helping of bread to sop it up with. It was a generous serving and I had a hard time finishing, especially since I ordered extra bread. When my waitress asked if Dessert was to be considered, "of course" was the thought. As with my drink choice, she was again helpful and friendly and recommended the panna cotta with fresh peach slices. The delicious panna cotta tasted more like a creme brulee without the crust. Did I say I couldnt eat another bite? Got 2 more to go for the other dessert lovers. Well, I will be back for great service, food, drinks, and ambiance. I may come alone again, but I look forward to dining alone at the romantic Decarli.

Checked into our hotel that evening and did some Yelp searching of places in the area. I saw that Decarli, which was only a few minutes from our hotel, had a late night happy hour that sounded perfect. The weather was raging while we were there, and so we sat out in front along the sidewalk. Also, Portland has amazing long summer days and it was still light out. As a huge Caesar salad fan I had to try theirs, plus it was only $6 on the HH menu. We also ordered a Margarita pizzetta and some booze. I had a vino from Montepulciano, and the BF had a spectacular $4 beer. The salad arrived and I was thrilled to see a crap ton of cheese all over it, and also they crumble their croutons - which I do at home! Everything gets crouton flavor that way! I was also pleasantly surprised at how lemony their dressing was...mmmm I love lemon. At the time I was coming down with a cold and had a scratchy throat and the lemon was perfect. I did have one slice of pizza, which had simple, fresh, tasty ingredients, just like in Italia! But I left the pizza to the BF and ordered myself another Caesar. I was in Caesar heaven. We had a perfect meal, and actually returned the next evening and ordered the exact same thing. Out of all of the delicious places to eat in Portland, we chose the same place again! Not only cause it was right by our hotel, but it was that good. Decarli, I wish you were here in LA, as I think about your Caesar often.

This place had the potential to have 5 stars, but the service knocked them down a star. I had the Polenta Fries with Gorgonzola Butter as my appetizer. Honestly, the idea of Polenta Fries is what was really tugging me to try out this restaurant, but considering how much other reviews raved about them, I was a little disappointed. They were good, yes, but they didn't blow my mind. My entree, the Coulotte Steak with Asparagus, on the other hand, was DELICIOUS. The portion was rather large, and I ended up eating everything. Unfortunately, to get this, I had to go through 5 minutes of telling my server I wanted the steak cooked medium well, having him tell me that they usually suggest medium or less, me telling him, yeah, I get it, but I want medium well, and him continuing to go on about how if I want "beef" I should order the short ribs (where I just continued to smile). When he finally stopped telling me what I wanted, I reiterated my original order, and he finally took it. To be quite honest, I actually like my steak cooked well done, but I've found that restaurant cooks are usually spiteful about people ordering steak cooked that way and usually end up unnecessarily charring it. Ultimately, the server should have given his recommendation, and when I listened to his recommendation and informed him that I still wanted my steak cooked medium well, the exchange should have stopped there. Since it was my birthday, I also ended up ordering a dessert - I had a Pretzel Crusted Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream (subbed for banana) and Butterscotch Topping. This was fabulous, and I wish I could have eaten everything. They even put a candle in the ice cream for me, which was a nice touch. Reservations are available via OpenTable on their website (but not via their Yelp page for some reason). Ambiance was very nice - the main portion of their seating area has a beautiful exposed brick wall.

Fantastic food & service. I'd say the best Italian restaurant I've been to in a long time.

Always very good and very accommodating to special dietary needs. The seafood here is very good, I had the oyster appetizer, gnocchi and my husband had the spaghetti with crab, bruschetta and we split the s'more (not to miss) for dessert.

This is a cozy little restaurant with warm lighting and an exposed brick wall. Our food was 5 star - get the polenta fries!!! Get the short ribs!! They were both phenomenal. I have never had polenta fries like that in my life. I would love the recipe. The short ribs can be made gluten free by putting them over polenta. Our server was quirky and had a great dry sense of humor. He was funny and attentive and we really liked him. The only con about this place was the martinis were super duper tiny. TINY. Like a Barbie sized shot glass shaped like a martini glass. Tasty tho so I guess it's quality not quantity :)

Too expensive for what they have to offer. Server was nice but way too pushy with trying to get us to order alcohol. Did not get bread everyone raves about when ever other table around us did.

On a visit to Portland my gf and I found this place on yelp, it was close to our hotel so we decided to give it a try. Thanks yelp'rs! Happened to go during a heat wave so the weather was absolutely perfect when we got there. Sat outside to enjoy some people watching and to enjoy the weather while we ate. I ordered the pizzetta (the one with just cheese) and my gf ordered the Caesar salad, both from the happy hour menu. I don't usually care for Caesar salads, but the dressing had good citrusy-lemon flavor and the salad was covered in cheese and was amazing. The pizza had a very simple but fresh flavor that I really enjoyed, especially because I am so picky with the kinds of pizza I like. I highly recommend this place, great food and service!

We ordered the polenta fries (zero calories ladies, I swear) the bruschetta which in hind sight I wish I had asked the flavored cause we weren't a fan of the salmon version - otherwise the other two were great! Main course we spilt a dish from the main dining room menu which was savory - pasta cooked to perfection! There is. Late night happy hour from 9pm - close. $4 drafts $2 off wine and $6 select cocktails. And then the happy hour food menu is a few bucks off select dishes. All and all, it's a great Italian spot good for date night or hanging out with friends. I was there from 9-10 and was surprised about the older crowd still hangin around! Ps - our server Jen was amazing! She's so sweet, personable and knows real customer service. Thanks Jen!!

I came here for happy hour with high high expectations but left instead with salt overload. I had the pizzetta with prosciutto, grilled corn, shaved red onion, chives and chevre. The worst part was that I could tell that it would have been delicious had it not been for the massive quantity of salt. I could visibly see the salt granules all over the pizza and the pan. My boyfriend had the burger, which was fine, but the fries that came with it were also drowned in salt. It was probably just an off night and I would love to try Decarli again but this experience has left me with a fear of going back.

Only been there a couple times in the bar for happy hour. Can't wait to try a full dinner in the dining room. I think my husband & I have tried everything on the HH menu. Excellent wine lists! Everything's spot on! From the meatballs to that freaking delicious grilled crunchy salty garlic toast! AND.....THE POLENTA FRIES!!! GET THEM!!! & DON'T FEEL GUILTY DOUSING THEM IN THE HEAVENLY MELTED GORGONZOLA BUTTER!!! Killer food, killer service, killer place! Thank you for being in Beaverton! Mmmmmmmm!!!

Great customer service and I liked the look of the restaurant. I loved the Caesar salad that I ordered. The menu changes daily. The bread was also a plus. The food was okay. It was fun to go and try something new, but I didn't think it was amazing. I got a spaghetti dish and the person I went with got a chicken dish. Both were good, but nothing special.

A great dinner leaves us smiling. Sunday evening was a great night to have our visit. Not too busy, not too slow. Kelly was our waiter and he was full of good advice, given in good humor to we visiting Boisians. Sunday night has an all night Happy Hour from 5-9 pm. Prices for certain appetizers and drinks are reduced, but we chose the full menu. We noticed that the menu is not overly large, but one that the chef and staff can master and do well with. Overly large menus leave us wondering if all things are great. We started with great cocktails. A ruby red martini and a Prosecco-based Italian Metropolitan were the choices. Both hit the spot with appetizers of polenta fries and a triumvirate of bruschetta. The raves for the polenta fries are well earned and the brushette were wide ranging and tasty, with the chicken liver mousse being a favorite. There were others we need to try in a return visit. Entries were equally hard to decide upon. The short ribs, their signature dish, were hard to say no to. But the grilled wild steelhead on a bed of cannellini beans, creme friache and oyster mushrooms and a bucatini pasta with an olive oil, white wine and guanciale crisped were the winners. The pasta dish had florets of broccoli so nicely done that even a George H. W. Bush hater of the green might have liked it. The steelhead could have spent another 30-60 seconds grilling as my wife loves all the fish skin crunched up, but this probably more a personal taste than a cookin flaw. With the entres Kelly recommend glasses of a red Bordeaux style blend from WA, Ramsey Red. We both liked it, even with fish. Full as ticks (as they say in the South-Texas, not CA), we still had to see what dessert held. We selected the cheese cake with salt caramel sauce. A couple of surprises were included with this dessert, one it is more like a flan, but cheesecake in a flan like ramekin. Secondly, it is made with goat cheese. I was ready to say No, but Kelly said I would be making a mistake. He was right, there was not a hint of "goatiness" in it. Another prejudice done the tubes. Ambiance, service, and food were all 5 stars. With 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 red wines, and a dessert, we barely broke the C-note barrier (before tip). We thought it was not exorbitant at all.

There are a few aspects to Decarli that drew me towards a 5 star review: The wait staff, the menu (food), and the ambiance. The wait staff is great. They are friendly and whether we sit at the bar or at a table they're actually happy to serve us. Their bar menu and happy hour prices are excellent. The food on the bar menu is awesome. We almost always order too much. Their wines by the glass are reasonably priced and fun to drink. Their bartenders know how to pour a cocktail. And the polenta fries are...amazing. The ambiance is great. Beautiful exposed brick and open kitchen and bar really give the curious minded something to watch. It can be a bit loud at times especially if you've got an overzealous group dining along side you. Additionally, avoid sitting by the door in the winter because it can get chilly when someone holds the door open. We rarely have a problem finding a seat, which is great since I consider Decarli a gem of a restaurant - a place everyone in Beaverton should try at least twice.

Upon entering the restaurant, my girlfriend and I were greeted with an air of elitism that I didn't really appreciate. "You're lucky." The hostess had said, "Most people need to make a reservation to get a table." She sneered and I swear her nose was turned up at us. I didn't understand this. We were in downtown Beaverton, not downtown Portland. Across the street was a Korean restaurant with a line of people going out onto the sidewalk. As for the food, it was pretty tasty and apparently has a menu that changes everyday. However the serving sizes were too petite for my girth. The decor was kind of odd with paintings of personified rabbits all over the wall. The waitress was nice. We left her a bigger tip than they probably expected of us "normals."

The best food I know of in PDX area; this is surreal. The taste, the presentation; the menu and the demeanor. Spectacular

We love Decarli. It is the best place on the west side to go for a date. They take reservations, the beef short ribs are melt off the bone, full of flavor, wow, wonderful. The chicken is pretty close to the same. Their cocktails are interesting, not my thing, but my date has enjoyed several different ones.

This place is okay. The atmosphere was beautiful. I love the layout and the lighting. The place was packed and we didn't have reservations. The hostess was kind enough to find us a seat even though it was busy. She was very nice and professional. The portions are tiny. Don't expect to get full off of the food. I left and ended up going home to eat some more. Also, seating is very close together, so don't expect to be able to have private conversation.

The Sunday Happy Hour is the best thing ever, but you have to sit in the bar. It lasts all day, and the menu is fantastic. Sadly, you won't get your pasta fix, but it doesn't matter as soon as you have your first polenta fry.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
