Great burgers..

Nice greasy burger with good fries...bring a jacket, they don't believe in heating the place but once you warm up, it's a great dive place to enjoy a fairly cheap but big burger...

The burger was delicious. I ordered the 5.95 combo that came with a burger, fries and a drink. The fries were plain. Not good but not bad. This would be a four star meal if not for the hair that I found in my bag of fries.

This review is only for the chicken & beef teriyaki. Is this the best teriyaki around? Probably not but it was edible. The teri sauce was good depending on how you judge teri sauce. The beef was kinda funky so wouldn't recommend that one. The chicken one was good. It wasn't rubbery or raw like other places ha! The dressing on the salad was interesting. I think it was Ranch but not sure, it kinda tasted like a wet towel. Many of my co-workers say the burgers are the best thing here so I'll try it next time. So sorry to do this to you Charburger but I'm still searching for the best teriyaki place in Portland and surrounding areas. Maybe it exists, maybe it doesn't.

Nice burger joint. It's hard to find char-broilers in the Portland area and this place is a welcome surprise. Nice burger selections with a decidedly Pacific Island flair... Teriyaki sauce, pineapple rings, etc. Yummy!

Great atmosphere and the bacon burger I had was amazing. I even tried their sauce and it was great. From now on I'm going with the sauce. If you never been their you gotta check it out.

Good food for the most part. friendly staff that is willing to go above and beyond!

Good burgers - Check Good fries - Check Good drinks - Check Incredibly funny and welcoming staff - Check Comfortable if not the most current decor - Check Clean Place to eat - Check Great prices - Check coated fries - yes - sigh I am a natural at finding fault with places (check my other reviews) and yet I'm dumbfounded to find much to complain about. It's a great burger and they start at 1/4 lb burgers which is my preference (I don't like 1/3 lb burgers - too much) - they also have larger sizes if that's your preference. I don't like coated fries but they have invaded our country and few places are resisting. The prices reflect the decor - they both look like they are from 20 years ago. A full meal for under $7 - that's a good value. The owner is very picky about the quality of the food she gets from her suppliers. She wants to deliver the best product possible - the meat is fresh and lean, the veggies fresh. They make their own burger sauce which was tasty. One of the more unusual things about this place is it offers a full menu of burger choices and a full menu of teriyaki choices. You can come and get your burger fix while your friend stays the healthy course and gets some teriyaki chicken. You can bring the kids and get them a hot dog, get a garden burger for your vegetarian wife, chargrilled chicken salad for your mother in law and munch on a burger cooked to the way you like it. Unlike most teriyaki places, this one has a full soda menu as well - would you like a shake with your meal? It says that they have 20 different flavors - I haven't tried them all yet, so I can't speak with confidence that they are all there, but I will do my best to confirm them to you dear reader. I think you'll like it - if you come in stressed and hungry it's your own fault if you don't leave happy and full.

Ordered the beef and chicken yakisoba, added a fried egg for a buck. Smothered it in teriyaki sauce and sweet chili sauce. Delicious, next time I'll get half rice half yakisoba. Togo box please! Inner dining area and neighborhood is dinghy and ghetto, but fabulous food.

Seems the folks at Char Burger have not too many fans. The place is definitely a dive. But I like dives. And the 1/4 pound burger was good! Nothing outrageous, just satisfyingly right. Mind you, in any other large town, this would be a good burger joint. In this food desert called SW Portland, Char Burger is something of a find. Portland and its surrounding area have a dearth of just plain, satisfying mom and pop greasy spoons. Sure there are hundred food carts and brick and mortar restaurants, Some of them OK, most of them mediocre at best. This is one of the few I can say I will return to, which is far more than most of the places I have gone to in this area can get from me.

This place is fine. It's just fine. The best part about it is that it's great for when you and your significant other can't agree on what to eat. You: "Let's get burgers!" Them: "No, I want Japanese." You: "Okay, we can get both at charburger."

Wow, where to begin. I worked up the street from this joint for 14 years and drove by it twice a day. The smells coming from the building are amazing and that is about the best I can say about it. I tried it twice and that was it. done. never to return and I haven't. First off the place has not been updated since, ohhh, never. It is filthy dirty everywhere you look. It looks like the owners live in the place. The actual char taste on the burger was good, unusual and hard to find these days. Other than that, it was a small and plain burger, the fries were nothing special and the milkshake tasted very chemically. I am pretty sure they don't use ice cream and fresh berries for their shakes. Very underwhelming and when I got home I realized their health score was really low and remember seeing them on Dirty Dining at one point. Enter at your own risk!

This place is definitely a dive. The signs are faded, the inside is dated, and the prices are inexpensive. That being said, I ordered Combo # 2 (which included a bacon cheeseburger, waffle fries, and a soda), and that all tasted fresh and delicious. I also tried my boyfriend's chicken teriyaki; while I wan't blown away, it was pretty darn good. I definitely wouldn't have just stopped by this place on my own considering how it looks, but I came here with a group, and I was pleasantly surprised. The three stars is because the place definitely needs a renovation. Additionally, when we first stopped in, there was only one person taking the orders and cooking. By the end of us placing our orders, another person showed up and started helping, but it still took a relatively long time for us to get our food. Food options were a little eclectic - burgers, fries, corn dogs, gyros, chicken sandwich, and yakisoba are all things that I remember from the menu.

Goood food!! Awsome service and taste to die for. Definitely come here for a home taste burger!! You know you want one!!! Always comming back here!

Definitely better than the burger I had at Burgerville. It was okay til I put some salt on it and then it was pretty good. Husband loved the teriyaki burger, I just got a Jr. Filled us up. About five dollars for the two of us. The people were also really nice.

One of the better burgers in Beaverton. Quick and cheap too. Friendly staff.
(4)Dave K.
Great service! Very friendly, sure its not the most amazing looking place. But the food is great and staff was very kind. Will definitely be coming back. Burgers taste like home made. . Not cheap frozen crap.

Today was my first time eating at this place & it was AMAZING!!! I had the Spicy Beef Noodles & my friend had a 1/2 pound cheeseburger & that too was delicious. I had the pleasure of meeting Sofia (Owner) & she her hospitality made us feel right at home. She even gave us a sample of her Cambodian beef sticks & those too were delicious. I will definitely return & try more menu items...

I think this place is awesome! Have yet to try the burgers, but the teriyaki is food & the service is outstanding!
(5)Holly P.
I absolutely love this place. Ive lived a few blocks away from this place for a very long time and have gone here multiple times. The burgers and fries are absolutely delicious and come at a great price. And on top of that the people who work there have to be the sweetest people I've ever met. I leave with a smile on my face every time.

If I could give it more stars I would. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. We will definitely be returning.

Very awesome food and service was amazing! I will gladly be back in the future. delicious! plus it is affordable.

This place is a dive if I've ever seen one. The food's good, especially for the prices they charge, but the fries could be crispier (keep in mind that I like mine extra crispy). Charburger's tables could be cleaner, but it's not distractingly dirty, either. I love how you can get both Asian-esque dishes plus burgers in the same place since that isn't something you see a lot in the Portland area.
(3)Tommy W.
I used to work in the food industry for quite a while, and the cleanliness was appalling. It was dead and the worker was on her laptop so there is no excuse for a restaurant to not be clean. there was dirty build up under the tables. The kitchen had grease buildup everywhere. This was just some of the many either violations or bad health habits I saw during the short while I was there. Its too bad, cause i live right down the street and would probably of been a regular customer.

Island burger was fantastic! BBQ+teriyaki=ZOMG Shake, not so much. Fluffy, crispy fries--a little dreamy. Came via entertainment book, will def be back for tasty burger and fries.
(4)Cody W.
Horrible burger, insufferable dining room. I beseech thee, venture not through its doors when the sun is in the noon sky, for no conditioned air shall come to your aid in this dive. Not even really trying with the food. Undercooked & bland.

Burger was horrible. wasnt season very blah. there was lettuce on the burger but by the time it got to the table it was all cooked, and soggy. disgusting. I wouldnt come back here.
(1)judith p.
they stopped serving milkshakes so they really offer nothing more than mediocre burgers and teryaki. I spent less than i would spend at burgerville but no milkshakes anymore.
