My husband ordered the Arroz con Pollo and I got the Beef Fajitas. Everything was super tasty and the portions were generous. The only thing I didn't like is that the service was a bit scattered.

I came here for taco Tuesday ($3.99 must buy drink in the bar) with two classmates for a major disappointment in the food. The service was good, but the food was low grade next to school Sisco food. Horchatas did not come with free refills. The tacos did not have any taste, no sour cream, no onions, and the cheese tasted no bueno.

Despite the server taking my order, I ended up being the only person at the table who they forgot my order. The server tried to blame it on them making it wrong, however, it was overheard that she didn't even remember I had placed an order despite her writing it down when taking the orders. The food was meh. The best part about the meal was the Mango Mojito. I don't think I'll ever choose to return.

Slow service, bad food. Our stake was hardly edible, the tortillas were incredibly dry, chips and salsa were sub-par, and all for an above average price. Could've gotten a better deal at Taco Bell.

Unfortunately, the service is what brought my rating down. Although the server was friendly, the time it took to be greeted after being seated, to get drink orders, food orders, to do check backs, to get the tab? Molasses. The food came out prompt after ordering, which means the kitchen was on point - but everything else took forever. Sitting in a corner booth must be the forgotten section. Wah wah waaahhh. Food and cocktails were pretty good, but I don't know if I'd go back for quick sand service. Hostess and kitchen, great job! Server? Work on your timing, or ask for help. Or if your section is too large, let your manager know he should split it up more efficiently - or have more waitstaff on board.

Service is good, but chips taste like they were fries in shortening. Don't we will come back.

Had a late lunch at Azteca on 10505 SW Beaverton Hillsdale highway recently. I had the lunch Taco combo plate (with rice and beans) and my five year old granddaughter had a Taco as well. She complained, that she got most yellow crayons and one green in her cup, so I asked if she could get more colored Crayons. He gave me a new cup! Hubby had a lunch combo plate with a Chile Relleno and a Taco. The Tacos were larger than I expected. But they were excellent and even my granddaughter was able to eat most of hers. Hubby said the Chile Relleno was very good too. There was so much food that we needed a 'to go' container. On top of all that, the prices were very low and so I would call that a bargain lunch. The only downside was that the waiter was overworked and it took longer than one would expect to pay the bill. Our waiter, also NEEDs to give us a smile, minus one for that, he looks very unhappy!

I've been here numerous times over the years for "business lunch". I usually order the "poco" combo plate which is beans, rice and an enchilda or taco or tamale; it's simple, seemingly fresh, hot and tasty. Can't really beat the price for the quality and far better then sitting down at a fast food place or even "fast casual" options. Not sure it's premium mexican food or really a great place for dinner but for a decent, hearty lunch at a good price it's perfect.

Decided to try them once more a few days back and this time the food was decent. Not the best, but ok. I did get to try their salsa bar. Only three choices and they seemed to be sitting out for a while. ( I came in late afternoon) and there is also a bean dip container to "refill" your bean dip though the top layer was all dry and crusty. I had three cheese enchiladas. No rice or beans (besides the dip but that's for the chips) they were ok,but the sauce tasted very bland and very little chili flavor. I'll only return if I'm invited by someone. I won't go out of my way to go there by my self though.

I know this is a pretty big chain, but I've been going in this particular establishment for almost 20 years now. I've always had good food and great service at this locale. My favorites here are the Chicken Taquitos (on the appetizer menu) and the Chicken Mole. Also, they have a nice happy hour. And there is a salsa bar where you can help yourself to several different kinds.

We ordered 4 different items for take out and everything was great. The portions were huge and we loved the salsa bar.

Couldn't use a coupon today because it's valentines day. Pretty stupid. Coupon doesn't stipulate that it wasnt good today. They just put up a sign in the door saying no coupons valid today. So I you are planning on going there in hopes of using a coupon, don't. They will not accept it.

They offer a good selection of well prepared food at fair prices. Try the Sunday brunch...a great value! $14.95 included all you can eat and bottomless champagne.

I'm shocked that I had not written a review of his place since I've been here tons of times. I'd have to echo what has been said by the other reviewers. It's slightly Americanized Mexican food but the result is HUGE portions. I usually end up taking home leftovers. The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. The complimentary chips were warm and paired well with the bean dip with a splash of smoke-flavored Tabasco. I've dabbled all over the menu and it's solid. They offer classics like fajitas, quesadillas, and burritos as well as interesting items like lamb shank and stewed meats. Overall, I'm a fan.

I'm amazed at how people are conditioned to accept mediocrity in all facets of life, and Azteca is no exception. They are the epitome of mediocre run of the mill mexican food. From the Decor to the music, everything is as you would expect. The service was ok at best. They serve pepsi and not coke. The tamales are just downright bad. The food is very bland. I mean that, its really really bland. I honestly don't have anything good to say, just that this is one of many Mexican restaurants exactly like it. You know what you're going to get. Maybe that's why it has so many 4 and 5 star reviews, people prefer to know what they're going to get ahead of time.

Thanks Azteca for having amazing fajitas late at night for when you are having that craving you just cannot end without having fajitas. Their service is always friendly and fast though last time I was an idiot and forgot my leftovers...sniffle...

After moving from the Bay Area of California, where good Mexican food is plentiful, I was a little worried how Oregon would fare to fulfill my Mexican food cravings. After a somewhat disappointing trip to another Mexican chain, we decided to try Azteca. Our server was Christian and he was amazing! So friendly and attentive. We told him about our move and how we were looking for good food and he made sure to check if we thought this place was up to our standards and it sure was! I had the chili verde which is one of my favorites. The sauce looked homemade and the meat was so tender it would fall apart if you pierced with your fork. Even the tortillas looked and tasted homemade. My husband had the fajitas and loved them as well. This will for sure be the place we come back too!

Kind of a far drive and boyfriend wasn't too impressed with his enchiladas but I liked my chimichangas ok which is a rare feat for most Mexican restaurants we frequent. A little overpriced also but everyone is always very friendly there.

Here is another staple I love coming to in this area. The drinks are big here! As well as the food you get. I always love coming here and getting great authentic service. I have seen a downfall in people going this place. I would like to see more people frequeting this place! I come for lunch and it's almost empty. Sad, what this place is quite the treasure, but sit at the bar! You always get the best service. Them margaritas are big and you get HH all day! Yea..

If you are the sort of person who thinks a quarter teaspoon of chili powder seasons the whole pot but cumin and oregano should be banned, this is the place for you. Pros: clean, comfy, friendly, good service, generous portions, excellent quality ingredients, delicious table salsa. The meat was very tender and well trimmed, with no sinister strings or tubes. Really good all the way around and some folks will truly love this establishment. Cons: extremely bland food. I can't stress that enough. No salt, no spice, no herbs, no pepper, and again: no salt. Not in the beans, the meat, the burrito, the tacos. No fat detected, either. Is this in the name of healthy eating? If I had known that there would be no flavor involved, I would not have gone. More cons: a menu devoid of key items. No tamales, no machaca taco, no crispy beef taco, and NO A LA CARTE MENU. This kills me. I do not want to pay $13 for three carnitas tacos and a pound of tasteless red rice and unseasoned refried pintos. The chimichangas are grilled, not fried, which they proudly mention on the menu -- possibly more fat avoidance? The menu also promised my choice of rice (white or Mexican) and my choice of beans (black, refried, or pinto) -- but they didn't ask. The salsa bar was closed. And the carnitas were not carnitas at all. My carnitas tacos had fat-free steamed pork; that is not acceptable. Carnitas should be roasted with a lot of fat to create crackling golden-brown bits of meat. It should be well drained and well seasoned, during and after cooking. Ideally, one carnitas taco is two small tortillas, not overfilled with rich meat, with minced onion, cilantro, and salsa. My taco plate had three medium tortillas overflowing with bland, steamed meat. There were a few pieces of onion, but no cilantro. Generous, wholesome, and flavorless. Between the sea of beans and ocean of rice was a small peninsula of salad. At first I thought it was garnish for the tacos, but the presence of grated carrot, random veggies, and (again) NO CILANTRO would have removed the last vestiges of taco-ness from the meal. The kicker was the plate garnish: two whole scallions and a whole jalapeno that had been grilled brown, but not cooked through or interestingly charred. Mystifying. Inedible. Purely ornamental. My husband's chimi was just stodge. So bland. How can a restaurant with such good table salsa put out totally unseasoned food? I don't demand authenticity, in its various manifestations, from any restaurant. But I do like tasty food that matches the menu description. Still on the lookout for must-have Mexican food in Beaverton.

Two words...... salsa bar. You can try out as many salsa and as much of them as you want. They even have a bean dip for your chips. They have a variety of dishes to chose from and the portions are very good. I always have leftovers.... ALWAYS. I love mexican food for breakfast the next morning. The waitstaff was attentive and yet not intrusive and the place was clean. is it the best mexican food I have ever had??? no..... but it is yummy and at very decent prices

I love Azteca, especially the Fijita Buritto, YUM. I love the Arroz con Pollo sauce and pico de gallo topped on the Buritto, and I always ask for extra sauce. Their Taco Salad is also very tasty if you feel like something light.

Do not get me wrong here, I do like their food. My biggest turn off is probably the price. I never understood why Mexican food were so expensive. $15-18 for a large plate sounds nice, but not when one third of it is Meat, rice, then beans... Rice and beans are so cheap. They even let you grab as much mashed beans to eat with the chips or tortilla. The pricing is just unreasonable.

I went to Azteca for my birthday. The waiter didn't seem to understand what we were saying, and often ignored our requests. Therefore we had to pester him quite a bit. My family has gone to the other chains in Washington and have always had a good experience. However this site's food is lacking in the quality we've grown to expect. Their salsa had no flavor and our food was sub par at best. The only good thing we had was the original margarita. However the waiter did not card me and I look much younger then 21. Which we found incredibly irresponsible. I don't believe we will be returning to this site.

The atmosphere is very Aztec style decorative which was fun, I like themed places. The manager was also super nice and on top of things. But the service got my order wrong, and also seemed to ignore some of my later requests so I had to pester him a bit. I do not recommend the tacos as they did some sort of greasy pan fry to the tortillas, who knows why, and they were just meat in the cooked corn tortilla, nothing else but luckily the salsa bar was nearby and decent. The cheese quesadilla was somehow not so good and way too fully of green onion and tomatoes for my taste, seemed odd. Also when I asked for a side of cilantro (being the tacos had none) what came out was not very fresh at all, that wasn't a good sign. Overall it just wasn't that great especially when you have an amazing taco truck a few blocks away and another much better Mexican place on the same road a bit to the east.

Waitress was amazing, the food was excellent and the deal 2 for $25 was outrageously great. Everyone was nice and the place was clean. Besides a pesky fly at our booth all night that we couldn't get rid of, outstanding place.

I'm going to be a bit generous here. The service was good. SOME of the food selections were great. Others, not so much. The kids enjoyed what was offered. A soft taco (comes with tomatoes, be aware) and a sampler plate of chicken strip, fried mozzarella, not bad. My wife got a combo plate with a pork tamale, which was ok, but not what you would normally picture. A cheese enchilada and a stuffed chili. Not bad. Large plates. I got a pork carnitas burrito. The pork was tender, but if I'm honest, had nearly zero flavor. Which for carnitas seems a bit odd. The saving grace was a tasty sauce it came with. We did try the fried ice cream, which is a difficult item to pull off. If prepped to many days in advance, the coating will not crisp up and taste a bit chewy and stale. While not the best I've had, I would get it again. It's a better place than some of the chains we have been to. And we will come back to try other things on the menu.

This rating is based on one dish.... The Camarones Mojo de Ajo. This was so good a la carte! The shrimp is sautéed in butter with mushrooms and has a side of mexi coleslaw mix. The flavor is great and has a little kick! Order a side of corn tortillas and a super large margarita and you have cinco de mayo in your mouth! The waiting staff is nice and the decor is stereotypical Mexican restaurant. The Sunday brunch with unlimited champagne seems like a good idea but reminds me of my younger days partying all night Saturday then getting that big breakfast to help with your raging hangover!

Save yourself some time and money, and go to Taco Bell instead. I'm not even kidding. Bad service, slooooow service, bad food (seriously, the tacos were worse than what I can make at home), stale chips, overpriced, deceitful advertising (their website says it's all you can eat tacos on Tuesday for $3.95 which seems a good deal. The website doesn't reveal that you have to buy drinks to get that deal, effectively doubling the cost!), and a fly in my water to top it all off. The best part of the meal was the bean dip salsa...that was mostly ruined by old cardboard chips. Never. Going. Back.

Absolutely love this place. I lived very close for a while and went here like 3 times a week for a while. The happy hour is insanely awesome. They have an area where you can get beans and salsa and all kinds of things for your chips. Most places only give you watery salsa. Salsa here is delicious and comes with other things as well! The food is always always delicious and fresh. Service is always pretty quick and reasonable. The servers are so nice! They are always very on top of things. The family seating is very nice, decor is beautiful and festive. It always seems very clean, I have been to some dirty places and Azteca is always a treat. The bar area is fun also, always a game on or something. It is everything youd hope for at a Mexican restaurant.

I was hoping this Azteca would be as good as the one I used to go to in Redmond, WA. It's not. The food was not good. Some parts were (the picadillo was delicious, as was the taco shell) and some were horrible, like the bottom of my taco salad shell that was sitting in a pool of water. The lettuce that appeared to have been frozen and defrosted. And everything had cilantro in it, which certainly hasn't always been the case or I wouldn't have gone. The super weird part was the owner or manager was going around talking to people (that's cool), but also acting like the waiter and making the real waiter look foolish (not cool). The waiter was waaaaay over the top. I don't know if they are training people to be hyper-friendly and the wait-staff are going overboard, or what's going on, but the over-friendliness felt forced and it was awkward when the waiter shook my friend's hand after she paid him. The whole experience was bizarre, like something out of a restaurant makeover reality show. I probably won't be back.

My husband and I used to go here for dates all the time but now we live further away and haven't been there for over a year or so. We went for his mother's birthday....so much has changed. The food quality. The waiter service and communication. I ordered a chicken quasadilla with just chicken and cheese, no onions or peppers.... I get my platter and the quasadilla slices are thin and small. Inside was what I did NOT ask for, so I scraped off the onions and peppers. Found a hair strand...just about gagged. On my third slice that I opened, I'm pretty sure it was something that looked like an eyelash or some form of facial hair. I was just done eating at that point. Sorry Azteca, you are not what you used to be. We will not be returning.

We hadn't been to Azteca for a while so we decided to go tonight. We realized, once again, why they are our favorite Mexican restaurant. The service is great, everyone there is so friendly, and oh, I forgot, the food is great, the portions are HUGE & the prices are pretty reasonable. I had the Blanco Burrito, with extra sour cream sauce, for the 1st time. It was HUGE & delicious. My wife had a Mexican pizza, with chicken, also delicious. We even went the extra mile & ordered desert. Guess what... You'd better save some room for their, New, Carmelitos, mm mm good. I can promise you that we won't wait so long, for our next, again.

I'll admit, I'm not a fan of Mexican foods, hell I've never even ordered anything at Taco Bell before. I'm not a beans kind of guy, something about refried beans just doesn't appeal to me at all. So what do I order in a place that has refried beans? Fish, fish tacos to be exact. I asked the waiter instead of beans if I could have extra rice instead, he looked at me and asked if I don't like beans...I gave him a funny face and he was cool with it. The portions are huge! I was suprised I was able to eat it all. The rice I thought would be more orange, but it was yellow with chicken broth flavor with peas and carrots, but I didn't complain at all. I actually liked it. The fish tacos had a lot of fresh stuff in it, so it wasn't bad at all. The interior of the place is colorful, I mean really colorful. There are all sorts of hispanic colors, if that makes sense. But I'm still not a fan of refried beans. The menu is huge, the chips and salsa are nice to have while you wait. Though it might fill you up too.

I like this joint. We're always greeted quickly & seated within minutes. Staff is polite & very attentive. I LOVE their chips & salsa. My current go to is one of their specials - the enchiladas del mar - and it's quite tasty. Portions are huge and yes, the plate is always hot :) Plus it's reasonably priced. Their menu is HUGE so you're bound to find something you'll like. And - I haven't gone to this - but their karaoke night sure seems to be hopping!

I could eat their rice all day. Rice = Love Some Rice and more rice to go please! 3 Stars for the rice!!!!! Would give 5 for the rice, but everything is else is 3 star quality okay. But for the rice....did I say that already? The rice is right!

Why I have not written a review yet escapes me, I have eaten here at least 30 times in my lifetime. The service is amazing, you are greeted warmly and seated and immediately someone comes to ask for your drink order. I love the Salsa Bar and my new favorite thing is the Chili Relleno, it is my #1 place for Chili Rellenos now. My husband makes the most amazing ones and theirs is dang close! The enchiladas are good and my husband is nutty over the Carne Asada. I have never had a bad meal here and the portions are large so I usually take some home or stuff myself. I personally think they are a bit on the expensive side for dinner so we mostly stop by for lunch on the weekend. I think the chips and salsa are pretty good as well!

Lackluster service. Crazy huge menu with not very appealing choices in my opinion. I had a chicken tamale on the servers recommendation. What was my tamale missing? Chilies, cilantro, garlic, anything mexican... What did it have instead? CARROTS AND PEAS. I don't know if maybe they ran out of mexican to put in the mexican but they seam to have just grabbed a bag of frozen veggies and started throwing it in stuff as a filler. Interesting idea. So what else. Overcooked rice and beans with some cheddar plopped on top. The only thing good was the chips and salsa. So I guess if you go, just don't order anything they actually charge for. Meh.

This is one of my husband and I's frequent date night spots. The wait staff has always been very nice, I've never had to wait a super long time for food or drink refills and the portions are HUGE! We always go home with left overs. We've had a variety of dishes here, but our favorite has to be their fajitas! We have gotten both the chicken and beef and it is excellent each time. We've also tried their blanco burrito, nachos, coconut shrimp, Chile Colorado, deep fried ice cream and probably a few other items that are slipping my mind right now... but we have really liked every dish we have gotten. The only reason that I am not giving this place a 5 star is simply because I have ordered cocktails here twice and it seemed like they were really watered down. I am kinda a lightweight when it comes to booze too. If I'm going to shell out the extra bucks for an adult beverage I would like to know that there is a reason I was carded to have it. Other than that... I love this place!

This restaurant was a great find. The wait staff very pleasant and helpful. the Margaritas were a very nice size and very good. great bartender. Very nice atmosphere, clean and very busiy, which is good. You can always tell how good a place is by the number of cars in the lot. Good authentic mexican food. I looked at some of the lower ratings on this restaurant and really don't get it. Truley they have no appreciation for great mexican food. If your every in their area it is a most go to.

Pretty large place, but nicely set up so you have little sections where you are not seeing every other diner in the place. Totally comfy booths and nice Mexican villa vibe. I loved my chicken tortilla soup and my daughter loved her coconut shrimp. I also had the tacos al carbon. Next time I will try something else, but the overall experience was good enough that I'd enjoy going back. Great service. I agree that the prices were a little high for Mexican food.

This Azteca serves a Sunday brunch buffet consisting of a number of chafing dishes with various Americanized Mexican offerings, none of which are identified with any sort of signage. While the bacon was crisp, no eggs were offered and most of the other dishes simply looked like slop. All other dishes were heavily flavored with cumin and similar spices. You really have to love undistinguished faux Mexican food to really like this buffet.

We went here one week ago after shopping nearby. The place was packed, but we were seated right away. (As we were leaving there was a line waiting to be seated.) What we noticed is the lack of service (due to the amount of people I presume)... we had to ask for napkins three separate times before having them brought over- once of the waitress, and then of the manager. Really weird, was that they both looked truly confused when we asked- because they were busy trying to do something else. We finally got our food and it was DELICIOUS! Nice environment, tables, lighting, friendly neighbors at other tables, etc. I think our glasses were filled once for our drinks- and we were never asked again if we needed anything else. Rating: 3 stars for AWESOME food....not a bit higher because the service and wait times. Zero tip... now with that said, we usually get good service at mexican (and other restaurants), but this place was truly packed- and I think if they weren't filled to the brim with patrons, our service would have been much better. We WILL be going back, just not on a Friday night around dinner.

No, this isn't an upscale Mexican restaurant, nor is it an authentic taqueria favored by hipster foodies. It's a throwback to the kind of Mexican food I grew up with -- and it does it well. The tortilla chips are hot and freshly made; the enchiladas ooze with cheese; the chile colorado is fork tender, and the old-style beef tacos are crispy and flavorful. The sauces could pack a bit more punch, but what Azteca lacks in boldness it makes up for in consistency and thoughtful, attentive service. It's a perfect comfort meal.

Friendly staff and good food. I don't think my glass was empty the entire time I was there. This is the second time I've been to this location and it's been fantastic. We arrived around noon and were seated immediately. When we were shown to our table we opted for one a little further from the buffet counter and they had no problems making the adjustment. I didn't have to explain what an Arnold Palmer was, the waiter greeted us in Spanish and English and was genuinely cheerful. Our food was well prepared and tasty.

We have eaten at this restaurant twice. The service was excellent. We really enjoyed the bilingual staff greeting us in both English and Spanish. The food was fabulous and they had good sized portions that were reasonably priced. We love trying dishes that vary from region to region in Mexico, and this was yet another place where we had basic dishes that tasted very different then past experiences. I had the combo Carne Asada y Mojo (carne asada, beans, rice, tortillas and a side dish of mushrooms & scallops in a spicy & buttery sauce). My other half had the same meal but the side dish had shrimp instead of scallops. Everything was absolutely scrumptious! I also had an ala carte enchilada en mole, which was rich and delicious! Our waiter was friendly and with a little prodding gave us a wonderful description of the differences in the mole sauce from region to region. This will most certainly become one of our frequent dining spots when I am well enough to enjoy a great meal with great service!

So I really like the food here. I usually go with tacos or fajitas and the meat changes depend on my mood. However on my last visit the service was pretty bad. The boyfriend ordered a strawberry margarita and they came back with a regular one. Then my mother ordered black beans instead of refried and her food came with refried. Also mom order a beer and for some reason they assumed she meant in a bottle instead of on tap, even though they have it on tap. That could have easily been avoided by just asking the customer. However, even with all this I would still go back for the food. They have pretty authentic mexican food and the portions are HUGE.

Best Margaritas on the west side! We love to eat here, always very filling and we take alot home.My favorite is the bacon wrapped shrimp, and my husband's is the fajitas. Kinda spendy , but worth it

When I worked in Beaverton a couple of years back, this used to be a popular place for lunch. My most recent visit here was for dinner. Ordered the Tacos Authenticos. The menu said 3 tacos from the streets of Mexico. The tacos came loaded with chicken, onions and cilantro. Served with rancho beans, Mexican rice and salsa, it was pretty awesome. The partner ordered the Pollo Mexicano. Strips of grilled chicken, green peppers, tomatoes, onions, salsa and guacamole served with Mexican rice, rancho beans and flour tortillas. It was pretty good as well. The highlight of both the dishes was the total absence of cheese, which made me realize Mexican food minus cheese can be super awesome! We also tried their Sangria - a mix of red wine, brandy and fruit juices. It was alright albeit a trifle light. I've not had many great experiences with Mexican food in Portland. Glad to know that Azteca is around..

In short; HORRIBLE service and meh food. In long: We were suggested to go to the bar when we walked in as there was no waiting in the bar. We sit down and wait over 10 mins before our menus show up. We order another 15 minutes later when we grab a waiter running by. Finally, our food shows up. It's ok. Nothing overly horrible but nothing to write about. We finish our food and wait another 10-15 before the waiter comes back and takes our plates. We tell him we'd like our check. After another long wait, our check is brought by another lady and we tell her to wait and take our card so we don't have to wait for her to come back. We watch her go over to the computer/cash register and put our bill and card down. She then dissappears for a while to somewhere else and when she reappears she starts cleaning up other tables. Then she goes back to our card, picks it up, runs our transaction and goes to another table and sets it down. As we are about to tell her she turns around and picks it back and brings it over to us. "So sorry", she says. We spent more time waiting on them then we did eating or drinking. Then our debit card was left unattended and almost went home with some one else! Needless to say, we definitely won't be back.

I've never been to Azteca before, despite going past it lots of times. I was very, very pleased with our visit yesterday. We stopped by in the middle of a series of errands when we were all too hungry not to stop. Since we weren't coming home right after, we ordered a shared plate so there wouldn't be leftovers we had to abandon. We got a three-item combo so we'd have enough food. Yes, those of you who've eaten here before are laughing at me now, I realize this. We should have ordered two. Nonetheless, we ate MOST of it and it was very tasty. Portions are plentiful for the price, in other words, and the food is good. The staff is very attentive (maybe a little too attentive - we were checked on a touch more than I normally like - but they were very low-key about it and didn't seem to expect much interaction, so it worked). And they were wonderful with my son, talking with him, admiring him (which I enjoy), and playing with him. One of them paused a few moments to play peek-a-boo around the corner with him. (It was early-lunch when we were there - there weren't very many people. So he was not neglecting other patrons to do this.) The seats are comfortable; the aisles are wide enough to add a high chair or park a baby stroller without blocking the aisle at all. The aisles run short across so it feels like a much smaller restaurant. It's clean and pleasant. The air conditioning was glorious after the heat but not so cold as to be a shock when going in or out. The restrooms were clean and both men's and women's had a baby-changing tray (and at least in women's, it was NOT in the handicapped stall - good for them!). Or in other words, WHY have I not gone here before?

This is the best (American style) Mexican food on the west side! I thought their prices are pretty reasonable, and I love the salsa bar. The only problem is I always fill up on chips & dip before I get my dinner! The meals are very large, I always have enough for two meals of leftovers. I haven't had everything on the menu yet, but I've tried a lot of it. So far my favorite is the chicken chimichanga. YUM! Service is always friendly and super fast too!

Ok, i haven't done a thorough survey of Mexican restaurants in the greater Portland area, and once i have i may update, but here's what i've got so far. Independent of food quality, there are two salient points from my dining experience at Azteca: 1) They have the AC cranked so high that you'd better bring a sweater or jacket 2) Our waitress let no more than three bites of food pass our lips before she stopped by yet again to ask if everything was ok. Aside from the shivering and constant interruption, the food was decent. I found the portions oddly small (broad swaths of beans and 'salad', with small enchilladas, chilles relleno, etc tucked in between), the the flavors not terribly impressive. One thing i really, really liked was the low burn in basically everything. Not enough to make you even reach for your drink, but a pleasant warmth in your mouth and throat to let you know that they're actually familiar with peppers and seasoning. Also, the margaritas were huge but weak. I'll be back, probably repeatedly due to the convenience/proximity, but i still hope to find something better.

Azteca is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant! I have eaten at Azteca many, many times in my life and I am always pleased with the service I receive. Everyone is always so welcoming and the wait staff is always on top of drink refill and making sure you always have chips and salsa. As for the food, I have a few favorites. First of all, as far as beverages go, they have excellent margaritas. I love strawberry and pomegranate. The peach is good as well, but a little too sweet for my taste. For food options, the chicken enchilada platter is my favorite. They always offer great portion sizes and give you more then enough food to share. My other favorite is the steak fajitas. I have never had something here that I did not like or been with anyone that has not loved this place. If you're looking for great Mexican food, this place is it!

Yay, this will be quick! Azteca in a word, sucks. Unless, as my usual suburban caveat would entail: You like chain restaurants like Red Robin and Chevy's Fresh Mex was the last best Mexican food you can remember. If that's the case you will "oooh" and "ahhh" about the dinner plates that measure 3 times the size of the average ethiopian torso. This is Americanized drivel and it's not even attempted well. Beans fresh from a can, salsa that's been sitting out all day, cheap meats and ingredients make for a nice Taco Bell reaction in the belly. Save your money, drive to Fonda Rose on 28th and Burnside and eat a better meal for less. I kept asking my wife during the meal, who would enjoy this crap? Apparently, people in Beaverton and don't get mad at me, I live here too and I'm quickly nixing places off my list. My lady companion actually made sense in that she said both our parents would eat here and be happy with it. They love Red Robin though, and often eat fast food. Sometimes I wonder if a truly magnificent restaurant would fail in Beaverton because it wouldn't be appreciated. Oh well, at least you don't have to worry about that with Azteca.

Blandest Mexican food ever! We are vegetarians so it's nice when there is a veg section. But, the burrito and enchiladas were filled with limp veggies and no flavor. Very disappointing.

It's so hard to find a good Mexican restaurant in these here parts. Azteca isn't horrible but it isn't spectacular either. It was solidly meh. Not many options for veggie folks, although the Veggie Macho Burrito was interesting (more Mediterranean flavored than Mexican). I did like that the bean dip has chunks of jalapeno in it. The prices on everything seemed way more than they should have been. However, I gotta give some bonus points for the TV in the bar showing a Santo/Blue Demon monster movie. All in all, we got a meal here.

We've been coming here for years and always enjoy the food. Is it cuisine? I guess not, but you know, sometimes we just want to have dinner. I am a fool for rice and beans,,chips and salsa, a little guacamole, five minutes from home. The people are nice. They offer takeout. Aaaah... Sounds great right this minute.

The food was okay, my friends and I were just going out to get some food and we stopped here. The food isn't bad but it's not great. I ordered the two enchiladas, my friend ordered the taquitos which were way too small for how much we paid. I won't go out of my way to go here but it's not bad and the service is friendly. I would simply rather go to a better, less franchise-y mexican restaurant

The mole was really tasty last time we went the enchiladas with mole and beef were great. They came on a huge plate too. I have to admit the fried ice cream was fantastic. Cinnamon, chocolate, crunchy frozen goodness, best sundae I've had in a long time.

Bring the kids! Wow, were we highly impressed with every aspect of this place. From the fair prices, food quality, service and when I say service I really mean service. I felt like a king eating at this place. They were great with the kids. We ordered a cherry coke, it was amazing and came with cherries, once the kids saw that we had cherries they made a comment about wanting some to us. Two minutes later the manager stops buy with a little bowl of cherries for the girls. They were impressed. The prices of the food are great and their specials are a steal. The food tasted great and I had left overs, the food is very authentic and I have had plenty of experience with authentic mexican food. After we were all done they brought out ice cream for the kids, they were thrilled. The kids have already asked twice to go back and its only been a day. They do a hell of a job winning over the kids and we loved the service, food and prices so we, will be back for sure. Bottom line: This place is great, it has it all. They also have an amazing self serve salsa bar with all you can eat beans!

I just moved to Beaverton and finding a decent Mexican place was a must. I'd heard Azteca was good and the food didn't disappoint. I had a combination plate, always a good way to sample several things. I particularly liked the chile rellenos. The margeritas were ok but nothing to crawl home about. The service was nice...friendly and welcoming but even though we were the only customers eating in the bar, our waiter disappeared a couple of times. All in all, a good experience and a place I wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Went here for lunch after shopping. Fairly standard Mexican restaurant look to the place. BUT the food was excellent. HUGE portions. We also enjoyed the guacomole that we ordered as an extra to go along with the complimentary chips and dip. The waitstaff was pretty on top of things and we left the place with half our dinners in a "to go" box and enjoyed them again for dinner. Gotta love two dinners for the price of one!

The molcajete is really good. They have a salsa bar with goodies. The service is prompt and friendly. Prices can be a bit high. I always leave this place completely stuffed.

Loved it!! We lucked out and it wasn't busy when we stopped in, but then it was getting late. It was good food and surprisingly not greasy like a lot of the mexican food I usually find. Staff was excellent, since the server wasn't overly busy she was chatting a bit and was telling us of some newly discoverd activities in downtown to check out :)

This place is always busy. A good food selection, good prices and the food is good. My only complaint about the place is their beer selection. I mean I understand this is a Mexican place so you want to serve Mexican beer. But you're also in Oregon. Serve some more microbrews even if they are in the bottle. All they had the other night was Fat Tire, Drop Top, and Widmer Hefeweizen. Otherwise, good sized portions, kid friendly, nice friendly waiters/waitresses, an enjoyable place to eat.

I went here for happy hour on Saturday night with a couple friends. The service was terrible. The waiter kept us waiting the entire time. We would have to track someone down to get our drinks/chips/salsa refilled- sometimes we had to ask twice because they forgot. It's not like it was busy. There was one other table in there and a couple people at the bar. The food sucked. I had the steak tacos. The steak meat was fatty and chewy. Not what I had expected , but I figured tacos would be pretty difficult to mess up. My friend had the chicken taquitos. He said they were doughy. My other two friends shared the sampler platter and complained that their food was horrible. The happy hour is very cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for here.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
