On your way through Bandon stop by and get yourself some ice cream. They serve more than 16 flavors and they are all delicious. The salted caramel peanut was the best ice cream I've ever eaten. A child size is $2.00 which is a heaping cup or very full cone, so it's very inexpensive as well.

As a customer, I found everyone friendly. Food was great. I had the panini. Samples of cheese were good and probably would have bought some except we are in a trailer with limited space and an already full fridge. Umpqua ice cream with generous servings! Bathroom was nice, too! As I walked out, an employee even asked me how things were in the restroom and was I happy with it. I can understand that a neighbor might be upset with the noise of construction, but for people coming into the area, it is a nice place to stop.

Our family visited the Creamery just a week ago, and it was a very nice visit. The range of products available is almost staggering - all kinds of cheeses which you are free to sample as you roam around the store. Also a nice assortment of ice cream is cones can be had at reasonable prices. The store is remarkably clean and well-maintained, and a great place to stop for a snack or some special cheese.

Those who live in Bandon or for those just passing through Face Rock Creamery is a decent spot to stop to sample cheeses, watch the cheese-maker technicians, & to buy some ice cream. The creamery doesn't have its own local ice cream. Instead they sell Umpqua ice cream by the scoop. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of ice cream one receives. It's silly to order a single scoop for $3 when you can get double the amount for just $0.75 cents more. The day we stopped in the samples of cheese curds & block cheddar had been sitting out awhile as they didn't taste very fresh; more dry & crumbly. There's about a dozen samples to try but only a few of them I liked including "In Your Face" spicy 3-pepper cheddar & "Vampire Slayer" garlic cheddar. Prices are a little high especially on their 8oz block, which is smaller than an iPhone, for $7. I didn't even notice the upstairs until I read other reviews & then remembered seeing stairs when we there. I was distracted by the ice cream which is located near the bottom of those stairs. Face Rock Creamery is located on US101 so If you like cheese & ice cream then take a break from driving & make an effort to stop by. Hopefully your cheese samples will be more fresh than ours were.

We recently visited my Dad in Coos Bay and he took us here. The place was nice, clean, and the people were friendly. They put out samples of the cheese so you can try it before buying. All the samples I tried were really good. I really liked the Vampire Slayer Garlic Cheese Curds and the Fromage Blanc- Garlic Olive was freakin' awesome!!!! We loaded up on cheese for our trip home. Also, if you get there at the right time of day, you can watch them making the cheese, which is pretty cool. You can order their cheese directly from their website. The shipping is a little pricey, probably because they have to cold ship. Then there was the ice cream. OMG, this was some of the best ice cream ever and the scoops were huge! We will definitely go back next time were up that way.
(5)Benjamin K.
Excellent cheese factory and ice cream shop in Bandon in the same spot where Bandon Cheese use to be. My favorite cheese was the smoked cheddar and the garlic curds. Will definitely visit this place again.
(4)Simone S.
Yes, the scoop is huge! Chocolate ice cream is rich and flavorful. And it costs only $2!! Cheeses are openly offered for tasting and inviting. They range from $7 to $11 (as of 6/10/15). Definitely a good decision to stop here.
(5)Brittany N.
Excellent cheese factory and ice cream shop in Bandon in the same spot where Bandon Cheese use to be. My favorite cheese is cheddar Will definitely visit this place again.

Stopped by for the second visit to try the Panini's. Had the roast beef with horseradish cheese and the wife had the cheese with turkey. They both tasted good and were freshly done in front of us. Portions are moderate not too big. We also tried a small cup of the Mac n cheese which I thought complimented nicely. It was thick and cheesy the way it should being made here at the creamery. Overall, a nice portion, good eats at a decent price. I wouldn't put it in the mind blowing category but a good medium. Still think their cheese is dynamite .

The best frigging tourist deal on the coast. I did not go in until my last day in Bandon. My wife wanted an ice cream. Got a child's scoop which is enough for two people. The ice cream is awesome. Also their shirts and hats are all reasonably priced and best of all made in America. The cheese is great and lots to sample. As another poster pointed out lots of stuff in here for a great picnic. Another thing I will try the next time I am in town is they have a small wine and beer bar. They have several local micro brew beers for between $2-2.50. You can't beat that anywhere. Beer and cheese with ice cream for the wife.
(5)Stacie V.
If I could've eaten every single flavor, I would have. Every single one I tried was amazing!!! I ended up with a mocha one and cherry something(oh, brain: how can you not remember this???) The single scoops were bigger than my face and I enjoyed every single drop!!! I'd love to come on a non-holiday when it's less crowded and try the cheeses. The line was crazy long. Only downfall is that we wanted ice cream and stood in the cheese tasting line that wasn't moving for a good bit before we asked someone. It's not well marked and workers were sparse or we would be asked sooner. Overall, an awesome ice cream experience for an ice cream lover!!!
(4)Lori N.
A child scoop ($1.50) is pretty much a whole pint of ice cream. What child could finish that?! My suggestion, come here and sample ALL of the cheeses. They leave little cut up pieces of their cheeses with toothpicks for people to sample, and the little cubes can be quite generous. Then, after sample, purchase an ice cream cone to wash down all that cheese. There's plenty of flavors so you'll definitely find one you like. Then, as you're eating your ice cream, grab a few crackers, a few cheeses, a salami log, a bottle of wine & purchase all the makings for a picnic, then head out to the picnic tables & chow down. Pretty amazing lunch! This place is definitely worth a stop if you're in Bandon or Coos Bay or just driving through!

Cheese!! and other dairy products! yay! hip hip hooray! A wonderous beauty that's what this place is. Their cheese is simply delightful. The Vampire Slayer (i think you can guess whats in it...hint: it's garlic) is to die for (am i a vampire?). We hit up this place on our most recent coast excursion and I am so happy we did. They have samples of all of their house made cheeses, a beautiful case filled with other non Face Rock Creamery cheeses also deli sandwiches and ice cream and wine! oh, the wine! we wanted to purchase a bottle of the locally made Sea Mist Cranberry wine but truly weren't sure about it so guess what? they totally let us sit at the wine bar and took us through a tasting of all four of the varieties offered of the cranberry wine plus 2 other wines from different wineries. Plus we got to chat about wine and got some awesome recommendations for other local places to check out from a local. By the way, we loved the wine so much we purchased 2 bottles instead of just one as we had originally intended. We also purchased lots of cheese (we make a lot of cheese purchases I often joke about having a cheese budget). So get this, when you purchase $35.00 or more worth of wine you get free cheese curds. That is amazing!
(5)Mellissa G.
What a great place! We stopped there today for lunch and dessert while walking around in Bandon. The cheeses were amazing although a little on the spendy side for my taste...pardon the pun. Lol. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the customer service. Both the young gal at the food counter and the one my age at the ice cream counter seemed to be having horrible days despite my attempts to get them to lighten up. As the face of the establishment, I would've hoped the customer service would've been as stellar as the product. That considered, we would definitely go again.
(4)Kevin S.
Great price on Ice cream made by umpqua, and they are very generous in the scoopage. The real treat was the cheeses, sausage and crackers. The cheeses are the best I've had in a long time. They had flavors ranging from "Pizza Cheese" to "Aged Cheddar" to "Spicy Pepperjack" and many others. They also have curds, which were a first try for me. They were delicious! They also have a seated area upstairs to enjoy anything you do buy.
(5)Matt S.
What can I say I'm a cheese lover, they have a sample bar with endless delicious samples of some of the best cheese I have ever tasted. They have a pretty decent selection of wine as well. I would certainly recommend this place for any cheese enthusiast to check out...you will NOT be disappointed.
(4)Tracy C.
Yummm!!! Always have to stop here if we're going through! For my birthday I got cheese delivered from here from my mother in law, love love love!
(5)Sam M.
A nice way to cap off a trip to the tourist area of Bandon. Not in the mood for cheese, but the ice cream called my name. It was a local brand, Umpqua but not made here. They serve it by the shovelful as I and my wife both had a "child's" serving. The mocha flavor I had was great. The place was busy at 4pm on a Sunday. They have plenty of cheese and other distractions but I was too tired to poke around. If you visit Bandon, this place is an obvious stop.
(4)Robin G.
Cool place! You can watch them making cheese. Huge ice cream portions for insanely low prices.
(5)Dave L.
Mark this down as a stop point if visiting Bandon or just passing through. The cheese samples were many and the quality was excellent! The ice cream was delicious and extremely cheap with large scoops! If getting lunch, I highly recommend the Mac and cheese and the Cuban sandwich!
(5)M M.
Great ice cream! Huge portions for dirt cheap! The other reviews are right on as far as how big the scoops are. A single is more like a very big double at most places. You can get different flavors in the child's and single scoops so don't feel like you're stuck getting only one flavor.
(5)Claire T.
This place is super touristy and really busy. But it is so worth stopping at when driving through Bandon. Their ice cream is seriously good! With a range of classic and seasonal flavours, you'll want to come back for more. Their smallest scoops, the kids' scoop, is HUGE. Don't order anything bigger.
(5)Brangwen D.
We came for the curds. And got so much more- many cheese samples of extraordinary and unique cheese flavors. And ice cream. How anyone could eat more than a child size I'll never know- generous portions! Busy place, the ice cream line was long and the cheese line not short. Staff was pleasant, helpful, and patient. Restrooms available. Seating inside, outside, and upstairs. Large windows allow viewing of cheese making in progress. The curds were awesome! Try to get there when they are fresh and still warm for extra yum!
(4)R M.
This relative new creamery has done well enough to construct a large creamery and retail shop that includes Face Rock's cheeses (samples of most), Umpqua Ice cream, wine tasting and sandwiches. The Vampire Slayer (garlic) curds are as good as Rogue Creamery's version and the two-year aged cheddar was excellent. Curds are "left over" pieces of cheese sold in small bags--snack food. Note: fine cheeses, such as made here, use whole milk; low-fat milk does not make a tasty cheese. If you have the taste for it, goat cheese has less cholesterol and is healthier. I didn't see any goat cheeses here. You cannot drive into the parking lot from the highway but have to go around the block but the inconvenience is worth it.
(5)Diane C.
OMG. the cheese curds i tasted were out of this world good. the other cheese samples i had were equally as good. we stopped for ice cream and each had a cup. my poppyseed lemon ice cream was to die for. totally. the kona was 'alright.' hubby's triple chocolate was good...he did say it was a bit too sweet. say what? we know now, whenever we pass this place in the future, the car's navigation system will know. pull over, get out, and indulge!
(5)Lori O.
Absolutley a must stop if in Bandon... Great cheeses, curds, meats, gifts, apparel!! Staff is awesome to boot!! Bandon is beautiful, we have the beaches, fine restaurants, golf courses, The Beverage Barn, something for all ages so make the trip and enjoy all these fine places :)

I went here to have some lunch with my Aunt and cousins. After ordering, my devious 11 year old cousin stayed down stairs while we went upstairs to wait for our food. When I found out he was downstairs I went to see what he was up to. He had ordered an $11 block of cheese. Before it was even packaged to go I asked the guy behind the counter (who I assume was the manager) to please, refund the order. He rudely replies "I just cut this from a brand new wheel!" I apologize and tell him that the boy did not have permission to buy it. He then tells me he needs to see the boy and the receipt before he can give a refund. (Even though he saw what just happened.) After bringing my cousin and the receipt back over to him, he makes a scene by emptying out the tip jar to get the change he needs for the refund. He continues with more sarcastic remarks and I proceed to tell him I will never return. He says "good!" And pulls the cash out from the drawer. He then asks my 11 year old cousin if he should give the money to me (his 23 year old elder) or back to him. I was so perturbed by his lack of disrespect for a customer who just spent $50 at his establishment for lunch. I will never go back. I must add that it was overpriced and not very good. The cheese however, was delicious, but nothing I can't find at a common grocery store.
(1)David B.
Most (if not all?) of the cheese sold here is made by them, it's all delicious, and there's copious samples. The vampire slayer curds are amazing, and I'm also pretty fond of the cranberry walnut cheddar. We also had the herb mac&cheese and the tomato soup at the cafe, and both were very good. When I went it wasn't overly packed, and there's a decent amount of room to move around inside. I realized I was spoiled by the stop here when later in the same trip I visited Tilamook and Blue Heron.
(5)Marilyn B.
The cheese was wonderful. I love that you can sample before buying.. A little bit unorganized in my opinion. I did want to do the wine tasting yet there wasn't anybody around to help.
(3)Lynnette C.
The service was great and very educational as they taught us about curds and fromage. Ice cream was a bonus! Can't wait to dig into our truffle cheese!
(4)A L C.
We stopped in both days for ice cream. Huge portions of Umpqua. Yum. Also tried the cheese samples throughout the store and watched some being made. Great stop while visiting Bandon!
(5)Vasundhara A.
Decent ice cream. Did not feel it was locally made or unique. It was good to see all the equipment that goes into the cheese making process.
(3)Karen K.
Wonderful to see a creamery in Bandon again! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the cheese is amazing. If you've only had cheese curds from a grocery store of other -ahem - cheese factory, the warm curds a with their squeak is a special tasty treat. The Vampire Slayer is garlicky without the bitterness or sharpness of there garlic cheeses I've tried and it's easy to see why this flavor is an award winner. Also back in Bandon is my all-time favorite cranberry walnut cheese. Bandon is known for cranberries and this cheese showcases the berry in a soft slightly sweet dessert cheese. I don't even like walnuts and this is still my favorite. You won't find any orange cheese because Face Rock cheese is all natural and orange cheese is dyed - who knew? Also in the beautiful building is a variety of local and Oregon products. Try the jam from Misty Meadow - I like tayberry. And, as in the past, you can get a scoop of ice cream. I recommend. Child size bless you want a LOT. They also have lots of parking and free bathrooms you can use even if you're not buying. If you are local, look for the old wooden ice cream menu from the old building. If they had more display space for the cheese it would be perfect, it can get crowded, but that is pretty much the only, very small, suggestion. And you can shop online! A truly uniquely Oregon/Banding experience which is not to be missed!
(5)Nic 'n Nan N.
Ran: The cheese was really good! We probably tried all of 'm, and I bet the bottled goods they had were good too. Nic: That vampire cheese one sure was good. And the squeaky cheese squeaked for real. Ran: That's right. I guess that means the curds were still fresh enough to squeak, that doesn't always happen.
(4)Ron D.
Awesome place! This is a bonafide production facility. They make make some great cheese for about $7 a block. I was surprised by the cranberry walnut cheese! Aside from all the cheese that can be sampled and bottles of wine, jars of jams and sauces for purchase there is also cafe that make fantastic sandwiches. Grilled cheese and turkey panini was fantastic. Finished it off with pecan praline ice cream that was ridiculously delicious. Go there, do not pass go...go directly there!!!!
(5)Margarita L.
This place is several things at once: a cheese shop, a lunch stop and a tourist attraction, Your experience of the place will depend on how to approach it. I visited it as a tourist attraction and enjoyed it very much. They do have quite a few cheeses to sample. I particularly enjoyed sampling the curds because, frankly, I had never actually encountered a curd before so I wasn't exactly sure what they were. Basically, they reminded me of fresh mozzarella, but now I know. The cheeses were nice, though not incredible. I did like the cramberry walnut cheddar. It wasn't cheap, but it's not like I had to buy it. The ice cream was OK. Ben & Jerry's won't feel threatened, but it's cheap and the serving were huge. Order a child size or share,
(4)Kristi C.
A great place to stop to stretch your legs and get a sweet treat (ice cream) or...cheese. You can sample several cheeses as well as some of their curds. 3 Pepper curds accompanied me on the rest of the trip, yum!
(4)Jo N.
The curds are the best. WARNING: do NOT expect to come here and order that creamy looking, old fashioned grill cheese that is pictured on the website. They don't make those. We settled on the panini without the turkey but still had to pay the same price, what, what? The cones are priced super cheap but there are not enough flavor selections. Come for the ice cream and skip the lunch.
(3)Teresa S.
What a delightful surprise! Great place for your family. Samples of all of their cheeses, which are absolutely delicious. The cranberry walnut and applewood smoked cheeses are fantastic. And of course the ice cream! It's made by Umpqua, but the serving portions are huge.
(5)Chip C.
Great find. The desk clerk at Table Rock Motel recommended this place after telling her I was driving up to Portland and was going to stop by Tillamook for some ice cream. Pros: Great ice cream. Really rich and flavorful. One reviewer said it wasn't theirs. Who cares! It was great. Emphasizes local (mostly Oregon) products. Has cheese, wine, jams, cookies, syrups, etc. Great for gifts. Great service. Cons: Can't think of any. Going back tomorrow for some (really early) lunch and more ice cream! And I will skip Tillamook.
(5)charlotte n.
Stopped here on our road trip for some ice cream. Delicious except for the fact that the "kids cup" is larger than our family camper and probably gave us all diabetes. Would've gladly paid the same price for 1/3 the amount. Less is more.
(4)Beth H.
Great little stop on our way up the coast. As a child I use to always look for the green flags at the Bandon Creamery, that meant they had squeak cheese. It was a treat back then, but now that they are gone and Face Rock is there they always have the curds and in flavors too. Vampire Slayer is one of our favorites. Didn't try the ice cream but it looked yummy and generous portions.
(4)Don D.
Wonderful cheddar cheese with a great taste. Friendly staff, although the cash purchasing was slow, mainly because of only one clerk and indecision in the ice cream area. Accessibility comments: Whoever designed this building has no wheelchair common sense. 2 steps to the front door. And the ramp is back by the garbage cans and restrooms. No low windows to observe the cheese making process. A very fancy second floor with no elevator. I am shocked this was allowed in a brand new building! I bought cheese and I hope I can find some more, in another building:)
(4)Lisa K.
Intresting and family fun place to visit. Bought the kids an ice cream. Got to watch the workers package cheese curds. Tasted all of their cheese. My favorite was the pepper. Will be back again to have lunch and do some wine tasting.
(4)James N.
This is just a coastal tourist trap riding on the coat tails of an excellent creamery which Tillamook put out of business. The cheeses were mediocre and start at $14 per pound. The curds were not fresh yet cost $9 per pound. The samples were pulverized so small that it was hard to find a piece large enough to taste. Think of Face Rock as a cheese deli rather than a creamery.
(1)Chris H.
Stopped in while visiting Bandon. Very busy place with a terrific selection of not only cheese but condiments. We bought cheese which was delicious. Did not eat here but did get ice cream. Ice cream is Umpqua and the price was very reasonable. Would go back.
(4)Terrie C.
I used to go to the old Bandon Cheese Factory a lot but this place is a joke compared to the old place. The quality, selection and prices are horrible. A fun day in Bandon was looking at the shops, eating some fresh seafood, stopping by the cheese factory for an ice cream cone for dessert and some cheese before heading home. This place needs to dump the beer, wine and food and stick to cheese because the cheese isn't very good. They need to pick one thing (cheese) and make it the best! They say they have won national contests but they need to listen to locals and not artsy fartsy cheeseheads in Wisconsin. My son didn't even notice that they had food. and I would have loved to check out the up stairs but I was with my elderly parents who can't do stairs. When I was overheard by one of the staff saying "Oh, I don't like this" he almost lost his mind! He ran to another worker and told her and she started questioning me about what I said. I found their staff to be rude and unprofessional. I bought some curds...Vampire Slayer and White Cheddar. They were dry and crumbly, too mush garlic in one and too much salt in the other. For family fun go to the beach, get a treat at DQ and buy cheese at the local supermarket on the way home.
(1)Capt. H.
Wow Judging from some of these reviews, there are either some really picky people out there or they just have a personal grudge...or they work for Tilamook. Let me give it to you straight: I went to the old creamery every year for about 20 years; yes I knew cheese samples, good cheese and lots of cheap ice cream. This new place admirably replaces the old and moves it into the 21st century. There are many good samples (yes not quite as many as the old place, but they will get there--aged cheeses are not represented - cheese-making takes time!), the cheese tastes awesome, (the wife loved the curds!) and the ice cream is as great as ever. One single scoop is all an average person can handle- (wife had a childs size) and only $3. You definitely don't need a double. Excellent job. The whole building is modernized, beautiful, functional, the staff is nice and the product is amazing. Worth the trip to Bandon all by itself.
(5)Jil S.
I had high hopes for this place. Sorry, but I wasn't impressed. Cheese is really expensive and the curds were so salty. Not much in the way of variety. Probably won't go back unless it's for the ice cream. Thankfully that is still a great bargain and tastes great. The building itself is new and lovely.
(2)Charlotte H.
Great shop of custom cheeses. Lots of samples available! Cranberry everything here, juice jam marmalade cakes BBQ sauces and glazes. A homemade ice cream shop. Had the pralines and cream. Probably some of the best I've over had. They also make cheese here with viewable windows but they were not making any the day I was there
(5)Jason S.
We found Face Rock to be a great stop after a few beers at a pub a few blocks away. The Vampire Slayer curds hooked us, and we ordered a 3 cheese sampler platter for the three of us to share. The lady behind the counter was great. She reminded me of the stereotypical small town mom: loading our plate up with more cheese than expected, several types of mustards, and following up with us to make sure we had everything we wanted. We left stuffed full of delicious cheese and happy.
(5)Michael H.
Great place to stop for snacks. Love the Vampire Slayer and Horseradish Cheddar cheeses. The end cuts are a great bargain. Great logo apparel (hats, shirts, sweatshirts) at reasonable prices, as well.
(4)Scott C.
This is a great place to visit when you are in Bandon, OR. They let you sample almost everything in their small showroom and even get to watch the cheese being made. Loved the pepper cheese curds and the huge "single" ice cream cone.
(5)Jim T.
We had a really fun time sampling cheese and walking around the cute store.
(4)Robert G.
Facerock had some big shoes to fill when it opened 2 years ago with the taste of Bandon Cheese still on many minds. They not only filled those shoes but also created new shoes. There cheese is not only delicious but imaginative as well. They make the cheese on site behind huge windows. Depending on the day and one you can catch them in all stages of cheese production. There are free samples of most varieties along with curds too. They have a wine and beer bar, sandwiches (made with their delicious cheese) and some unbelievable Umpqua Ice Cream. Make sure you get a kids scoop, it is big enough for all due to their generous scoops. All in all Facerock Creamery is a must stop if you are anywhere near Bandon!
(5)Serena H.
Took a little trip down the coast and stopped by to pick up some of the "award winning" items that are now over saturating my Costco every Saturday with free samples. Grabbed 3 "blocks" ( I say block but honestly it's 4 crackers worth---maybe 3x2 inches total) and it's comically overpriced. The aged cheddar tastes like a 6th grade home-economics class made it. I wouldn't force my dog to eat it. Now for the worst news. I casually grabbed a bag of spicy curds and threw it up on the counter and happily dug into them on our way out the door. It wasn't even to Gold Beach when the first wave hit. I had a volcanic eruption of lava flowing out of me from those spicy curds like I have never experienced in my entire life. It even burns like lava on the way out. Needless to say between the gas, squirts, and skid marks our romantic evening was ruined thanks to FaceRock. Unless you want a science experience coming out of your bottom I would steer clear.
(1)Rachel S.
Cheese was delicious. Cranberry walnut cheese was amazing. I was worried it wasn't going to be good but it was fantastic. They had some peppered cheeses that made my eyes water.
(5)Christina S.
I don't understand the hype. The cheeses available here are tasty, but that's about where it ends. There's really nothing unusual, extraordinary, different, or novel about them. Maybe the cranberries, but even then, it just doesn't do anything all that interesting to the cheese itself. It doesn't have blow my mind; it just needs to be worth it. I did enjoy the apricot soft cheese the most. My daughter liked the Vampire Slayer, but that could be because she's a huge Buffy fan and likes the name. I love garlic, but found the Vampire Slayer garlicky in an unsubtle, overpowering way. Overall to me, doesn't seem worth it. The prices are bit steep for the cheeses. It feels like a tourist trap, because it probably is. And frankly, I bought a block of Gouda with truffles at New Seasons last week that was cheaper than anything offered here, and tasted amazing. I hate to not be totally supportive of small local businesses, but I think this business has it a bit wrong. The building is interesting, but the cheese needs to be more interesting, especially at those prices. It seems to me that more people are paying more attention to the - bordering on outrageous portion sizes!! - ice cream (made by Umpqua) than the cheese. That's a shame.
(3)Jason H.
The ice cream is amaze-sauce! Creamy and rich with natural flavors. The cheeses are also superb and the cream comes from pasture raised cows.
(5)
