Just got done watching the Seahawks playoff game here and am so glad my GF and I went to Merry Time. Good drinks and good food for reasonable prices. What set this place apart from typical sports bars was the attentive and warm service. From the friendly smile and a wave until the warm goodbye when we left, the staff made sure we had everything we needed for the entire game. First time there and they made us feel like locals. If you are in Astoria and want to watch some sports, eat some good noms, and have some solid drinks, this is the place to go.

Three of us went to an early lunch. The place was quiet, only one person at the bar. Drink orders, 2 coffees, 1 g&t; and lunch orders were given Two shrimp baskets, one slider, a cheeseburger to go, and cups of chowder around. The chowder came lukewarm, and the diced onions still crunchy, the primary seasoning was thyme and more thyme.. Very overstated. The chowder also had heat of cayenne.. Not good. Even served hot no one at the table would have cared for it, strike one. One shrimp basket, sliders and to-go burger served. The gal looks and says to me" and you ordered..." Gotcha- you forgot didn't you? My table mates tell her shrimp, and the gal says" we can only cook one shrimp order at a time.." Seriously, two of us at the table have managed/owned pubs..I've heard better BS stories than this. Strike two. My table mates are halfway through their meal and I get told, your fries are cooking now, the shrimp is done. Another G&t this is getting pathetic. All this BS and the coffee cups aren't refilled... Finally the shrimp arrives with a mound of greasy fries. The lightly battered shrimp is nothing to brag about. strike three and you're out!! Not going back. Home team lost....

Female bartender is extremely rude. Sound on TV's apparently only works when bartenders friends come in to play keno. Could be great sports bar if staffed better.

Typical bar But.... they have the best burgers in town. Good prices. Friendly service.

Here for the Civil War game. Packed but great service! Finally found a table. *ATTENTION* DO NOT follow Google maps!! You will end up at someones house...

A rambling sports bar in downtown Astoria. Flat screen TVs everywhere. Enormous menu of burgers and sandwiches. I was stranded for the Civil War game because of it being broadcast on the !*%(^ Pac-12 Network. This was the place to come and watch. Very friendly crowd. Very friendly servers. Would come again!

Suzie was our waitress and she was excellent! Customer service that was pleasant and not forced. You can tell she really likes her job. We ordered the Monster Burger and shared it. Yum! If you are visiting Astoria or passing through stop here for a meal and a break. Bathrooms are clean and the place is easy to accommodate larger groups or just a few. We ordered a drink each and our experience was great all around. The only thing I would say is we are Beaver fans and they are promoting The Ducks. But that wouldn't stop me from coming here to watch The Civil War. I also saw what looks to be a really cool Reggae Show advertised. Anyway thank you Suzie and Merry Time Bar and Grill for an excellent experience at your establishment.

I read a lot of unfavorable reviews but went there to catch a hockey game. The female bartender waited on us and was friendly and attentive, unlike one of the reviews I read.

Visited here on a Weds. night after driving from Portland. The bartender was nice in taking our orders and we received our food in a timely manner. I would not recommend getting the chips and salsa because for the price you pay(which is quite a bit for chips and salsa)it's basically Safeway or Costco chips and the salsa wasn't anything great. The burgers are very good though and I really like that there are multiple options for sides with the burgers(like tater tots). I would consider coming back here, I just would order a different appetizer.

This place is horrible. The bartender during weeknights is rude and couldn't care less about customers. The last time we were here for Monday night football the sound didn't work, until the bartender's friends showed up. Here we are again almost 6 months later for NBA Playoffs and the speakers don't work again. The speakers work for the crappy jukebox but not for sports. Food isn't bad, good beer selection, horrible service.

I wish I could give this place no stars. We've been coming here for years, usually with a large party of about ten. Never had a problem before, service was always decent and waitresses were helpful and friendly. I'm wondering if they've changed owners or something. Came in this time and there was no large table. We were told that we could put some smaller tables together so we did, without the help of staff, who proceeded to ignore us for at least half an hour after we came in. The bartender/waiter eventually came to take our drink orders and after helping two other tables, both of which came in after us, came to take our food orders. Happy hour is from 4-7 and it was just about 7, so I asked if I could still order from the happy hour menu, since we had now been waiting for well over half an hour. I was rudely told that no, I couldn't since we came in with ten people without notifying them. I'm pretty sure this dive bar doesn't take reservations anyway and they weren't even busy to begin with. So two of us decided that we'd just get dinner somewhere else later and told the tweaker looking bartender that we weren't going to eat. After hearing from other people at our table about how awful and dry the burgers were, we're even more glad that we didn't eat. We should have walked out like we thought about doing when we first came in, since they acted like they didn't want to accommodate us then. Since we are a large party who all like to drink, you'd think they would have been happy to help us. Lesson learned. Next time we'll go elsewhere for a better meal and friendlier service.

Gotta love Tamara and Daniel! Always great service! Homemade chicken strips are the best in town!

This is an establishment that we frequent at least twice a month, and sometimes more; however, today's service was so disappointing I felt that it needed to be reviewed. First, service is always a tad slow, but today we waited for 30 minutes to recieve our food. When the bartender/waitress arrived with it she herself said, "Yay! It's finally here!" We then asked if she could bring us drink refills, condiments, and the check because we really needed to eat and get out of there. She brought the drinks and check, but neglected to bring the condiments, which my boyfriend was patiently waiting for. Meanwhile, I was scarfing my own food down as to be able to get on to the appointments I had to attend to. When I became frustrated I called out to the waitress with an "EXCUSE ME," rather than admit that she forgot to bring the promised condiments, she said something to the effect that MY behavior was uncalled for. Please notice that at no time has she ever apologized for any of the wait time we had to endure. Because we have frequented this establishment so many times before, I am acquainted with this person a bit, and I know that she is an otherwise lovely person. I would just like to say that no one really ever knows what's happening with someone else and today I needed her to be a little more attentive (as someone waiting tables should be in my opinion), and a little less defensive when I became frustrated. I have worked in the service industry plenty so I am sympathetic to her plight, however, she should be sympathetic to her patrons who have waited more than long enough for decent service. If you are looking for a quick lunch, I would suggest you look elsewhere. If you have lots of time to waste and don't mind having an empty glass or forgotten condiments, then you just might like this place. By the way, the food has always been tasty, if slow to arrive.

great place for the younger crowd of Astoria. Cheap drinks, great food, and a fun atmosphere. Younger people bring a different crowd, but I've had a great time here most of the times.

Surprisingly clean and friendly. Lots of TVs and popular games on all the time. Food was decent, we'll probably go back when we're in Astoria.
