I hate to do this but feel it needs to be done. My husband and I met here and return for our anniversary annually. We stopped in this past Saturday night with another couple out celebrating with us who had never been here so we were eager to share our special place. The four of us arrived around 8:45pm and were behind one other couple waiting for a seat. We were all seated within five minutes of getting there but that was where the "good" ended. No one ever came to our table after we were seated and given menus. The couple seated exactly one minute before us? They were served appetizers and onto their second round of drinks THIRTY MINUTES LATER and were inexplicably seated RIGHT NEXT TO OUR TABLE so how is it that our table of four was blatantly ignored? Yes, we asked a server to come take our order and were told someone would come soon...but no one ever did. Seriously, after a half hour of nothing despite many servers walking around helping other tables, my husband finally caught the eye of the female manager (we think) and waved at her to indicate he wanted her to come by our table...you know, as in the universal signal in every restaurant? This woman, no joke, WAVED BACK and then walked away in the other direction. Did she really think my husband was waving at her to say hi? Wow. That was the straw that broke the camel's back and my husband was done. Livid. Embarrassed in front of our friends after bragging about our special place. Thirsty. He approached this waving manager and angrily told her we were leaving due to being totally ignored by everyone in the place for over a half hour now. I guess we expected a genuine apology in what we thought was a classy establishment? Nope. Wasn't going to happen. Instead, this manager more or less smirked at us and with absolute insincerity sneered, "I'm sorry you feel that way. Goodbye." Really??! We're stunned. Thanks for ruining our anniversary tradition. We won't be back, nor will our friends.

We had a very nice time here tonight; the main reason was the company and our server. We started with truffle popcorn.yes; not the usual choice but well worth it if you like truffles. They have a taste of Spain that has lots of choices. We enjoyed the chorizo, the cheese and the Marconi almonds. It was a good start. We ordered a French onion soup that was a bit bland and a warm chèvre salad with cranberries that was great. The Carbonara was excellent, but the risotto lacked taste. We did not finish it. We did the three cheese sampler that was excellent. We ordered glasses of wine. Pam loved her Chardonnay. Rebecca and I sampled Grüner Veltiner, Tempranillo, and a lovely Barbera. Brian did a Whiskey tasting. We shared a Vin Santo; everyone loved it. All of our choices were recommendations from the staff. All were great. We loved the wine choices, the service and most of the dishes. We will come again. Try it.

Expectations exceeded experience. Pulled pork and fries was not much pork and very soggy fries. Even the fries without the pork gravy were like what one might cook in the oven at home. Ordered a beer and then had to ask for it. Linguine and clams were good but not so to come back for one of my favorite dishes. Not worth returning

Liquid Assets classily fills a needed niche in the downtown Ashland area near the Oregon Shakespeare Festival theaters. It scores in food, drink, atmosphere, and service. When it first opened a few years ago we stopped in after afternoon theater to have some wine and discuss what we saw. The room layout and low-key staff make it a perfect after-show venue. The wine-by-the-glass selection is mostly local and excellent. They also offer a full bar which keeps the non-winos in our group happy. Lately we have included dinner in our outings to Liquid Assets, and this trip we spec'ed it as a destination dinner with friends. The menu is small, but the food is very tasty. We had a long, leisurely meal before draining our glasses and walking over to OSF for an 8 pm curtain. Lovely! The staff is helpful with wine and food suggestions. You're never rushed or over encouraged to keep ordering. I also appreciated watching one staff person/manager(?) stop our server from bringing out our first round of wine. I saw her ask him to re-measure how much wine he had poured into our glasses, and had him put in another inch or so into our glasses. I wasn't concerned about almost being slightly short-poured, rather I was impressed that the staff was concerned that customers were getting their money's worth. I noticed this trip that Liquid Assets serves until midnight. We don't usually go out after theater, but I'd recommend that any night owls give it a shot! Liquid Assets is relaxing, and offers good wine and food. It's on our list of places we want to go to whenever we're in town.

How can you not love someplace called Liquid Assets? With a dazzling menu that boasts such items as delectable pate and lovely cheeses, top that off with a huge assortment of terrific wines and you have a wine bar that commands attention. I ate until I was ready to pop and drank until I stumbled back to the hotel. I was having such fun that I didn't want to leave. Gotta love a bartender with a sense of humor. If you love good wine and good food, head here for a little, or a lot, of both.

Nice, open coffee house atmosphere. Very artful but welcoming at the same time. Feels classy without the need to actually be it. Chocolate lava cake and coffee was the order of business on this day and it did not disappoint.

Perfect for date night. Small plates and super cocktails (even though I'm a teetotaler..Lucy makes me little delicious cocktails that have no booze in them and are always amazing) The room feels like San Francisco or L.A....nice big couchchairs to lie around on, good lighting, nice music, etc. You can really snuggle up. My only regret is that the last woman I took there was from freaking Medford and didn't understand the vibe. Probably should have just taken her to Red Robin or something. Not that this is Liquid Assets fault. But I digress. Try anything they make and you'll be thrilled.

I had never eaten dinner at Liquid Assets before and it turned out to be the perfect spot. The beer on tap was exceptional and I loved every bite of the dinner I ordered. The woman who served me was kind, friendly and helpful. She assisted me in choosing an entree to suit my tastes and mood. She even offered me a substitution to make it perfect. The temperature in the restaurant was a bit chilly so I would consider going elsewhere on a cold evening or prepare myself with extra layers.

My husband and I love this place and make it a frequent stop when visiting Ashland. Love the wine, the food, the decor. The only problem is that it seems like every time we sit at the bar we have to listen to the bartender talk to her friends about her drunken escapades...it's trashy and immature, especially when spending almost $100 on wine and appetizers for two. If the atmosphere were better and more upscale, this would be 5 stars easy.

Tons of staff. Not much service. The Carbonara was bland and glueish. Staff is super nice. Seems like a fun place to work. Not a great place to eat.

Loved this place. They have a great wine and beer selection. You can buy wine to go or they will ship it. Had very good cheese plate. Crab cake was really good and the risotto was awesome! Great late night dining option.

I cannot wait to return to this place! It's an absolutely romantic, beautiful way to end a day. Truly romantic. A little wine cafe, moody music playing, wine and deserts...this is a great date spot for sure. There's cozy couch seating to snuggle up on, but larger tables for groups too. We came here to have a drink, but ended up staying a bit longer due to their delicious menu! I ordered a delicious glass of the Ridge Crest Cabernet, reasonably priced and very tasty. We also ordered the Chocolate Lavender Creme Brulee. Yeah, you read that right. And wow you guys. Just....wow. Rich, thick, creamy...amazing. The lavender taste wasn't really detected, so don't let that discourage you from ordering. We both felt really relaxed after eating it, though. Lucy, the woman running the show there was incredibly helpful, energetic and delightful to speak with. She runs that ship like a well oiled machine! Give this place a try. You'll be happy you did!

One of our all time favorite places to eat in Ashland. Not just a wine bar !!! The parings are wonderful and portions are great. They do great things with mushrooms and shellfish.

What a lovely surprise. Far and away the best food and drink experience we had in Ashland. We came in expecting to have an afternoon cocktail and wound up staying for dinner. Everything surpassed our expectations. The owner cheerfully and expertly coaxed us through our evening. Everyone who worked there seemed to know a great deal about the menu and what was going on the the dining room. The menu is small so that everything on it can be great. The bread (better than any we had tried in town) with truffle oil butter was delicious. Good local beers on tap. Asparagus soup was fresh and tasty without the usual too much cream of most places. Pasta Carbonara to die for. Really. Nice people, the best ingredients, oh yes, and a wine shop lovingly curated. Lot's of regulars at the bar and, we heard that they are adding a new room and more tables.

Liquid Assets is really a very nice, chill place to sit and drink a delicious wine or cocktail. The food is also amazing! The Sauteed Mushrooms are a must try!! They feature some gorgeous cheeses and the Warm Chevre Salad is oh-so-lovely! The decor is well chosen and the ambience is just right! I particularly like to sit at the bar so I can socialize with Denise, Lucy and the other great staff! I am a huge fan of Lucy, the coolest bartender ever! In fact, bartender is not quite the right word... I am convinced she may be psychic! I've never had a recommendation from her that I didn't end up loving! This woman knows her wine! AND creates beautifully and expertly crafted cocktails!! One of my favorite places to be in Southern Oregon!

This is an oasis for me in Ashland where I can relax with a glass of wine and a book if I feel like going alone, or meet up with some friends. Now that I am pregnant, I just go for the food - the mushroom carbonara is freakin' amazing, and the chèvre salad is awesome (and for you pregnant ladies the cheese is pasteurized). The Dagoba lavender creme brûlée is epic. I have always had amazing servers there. One woman always makes me smile - she wears the most creative outfits, fun glasses, and is absolutely adorable and attentive. I wish I could remember her name... When I'm not pregnant I'll be back for the wine flights...

"This is one of those meals that we are going to remember..." Is what I said to my husband while we were eating at Liquid Assets! Everything was wonderful about out experience: the service, the wine, the music, the ambiance, and of course: the food! We ate like kings! We had the gazpacho, the roasted bone marrow, the pulled pork poutine and the lobster and white truffle risotto. Gazpacho: it was very tasty. They make their gazpacho a little chunkier than I like, but overall it was good. Roasted Bone Marrow: OMG!! We will be talking about this for years to come! It was amazing! Pulled Pork Poutine: AMAZING! It was very heavy, so at this point, we were getting full and still had another course coming... but we still ate every bite of the poutine! Perfect to share! Lobster and White Truffle Risotto: Delicious! Couldn't have been better. My husband and I would come back to Ashland just to eat here again! :)

What a wonderful find. We loved everything we had here. Plus one of the owners, Denise was friendly and had enormous knowledge about food and wine. Every time we visit Ashland, we'll make it a point to come here

I just noticed this review, and my comment about the 'limited but creative menu' is a bit out of date. They used to make amazing food out of a very limited kitchen, but since my review they've expanded their kitchen so it's gotten even better. Don't leave Ashland without eating here.

My wife and I were here on Thursday evening, 7/2/2015, at 6pm. We had read about it on Yelp and it sounded great. Our play was at 8pm, so we figured we had lots of time to relax, have a drink or two, and eat. We were given a few seating options, and once settled, we waited for (I'm not kidding) 40 minutes to even get water and have our order taken. I know, we should have just left after the first 20 minutes, but we were having both a nice time talking and enjoying the air conditioning (it was super hot out), and we didn't really notice how much time was passing. We did, however, notice groups of people coming in, sitting down for 10-20 minutes, looking frustrated, and leaving. Two local women at a nearby table even convinced two groups to leave pretty much as they sat down, saying everything was taking way too long. They told us that it's normally pretty good here, but when the owner is gone, things can fall apart. And the owner was gone... A server finally came and took our food and drink order. She apologized that it had taken so long, said they were really busy tonight, etc. I was surprised they were "busy", for there were quite a few empty tables. Anyway, the two cocktails took another 25 minutes! So at this point we had been there over an hour and had only just gotten our drinks. Either at this time, or when we placed our order, we told our server that our play started at 8pm, and so we needed to get our food in time. She assured us that she would do her best, that she would put the food order in right away, etc. At 7:20 we did finally get our appetizer. The two main courses, however, never arrived in time. (How long can it take to make Mushroom Carbonara?) At 7:45 I told her we could not wait any longer, and I went to the front to pay our bill. The server was very nice and apologetic, arriving with one of the dishes in a to-go box as I was about to pay the bill. We didn't have to pay for the two main dishes. However, we had to scramble to the play, and it was still really hot out. There was just no way to eat on the run, or save a cream-based pasta dish in the car for later. We went to the play pretty much starving, and finally had a fabulous post-show dinner at Martino's (highly recommended). Although our server was, as I said, apologetic and very nice, this was the worst restaurant experience either of us has ever had. Not only were things pathetically slow, but to be totally ignored for 40 minutes--especially when we were in a prominent location, with servers walking by quite often--is almost shocking (and our fault, to some degree, for not giving up earlier). Moreover, telling me that I didn't have to pay for the two main courses we never got to eat is hardly compensation for failing to provide us with dinner during an almost two hour period. They should have at least given us a round of free drinks. Finally, I recommend passing on the Roasted Bone Marrow appetizer. It was creative; and what little we ate of it was tasty; but for $14 or so (can't recall exactly) it was ridiculously expensive for the thimble of marrow we were able to scrape out of the bones. I know others have had a good experience here; but it must have been a) when the owner was on site; b) when there weren't many people there; c) when the kitchen was properly staffed. If you want to go here, be aware of this and do your homework.

The huge asset burger almost definitely saved my life when I remembered that food was necessary for survival but was still feeling discerning about it all at 11 pm. Quality beef meets In-N-Out-reminiscent compilation of cheese, thousand island, and butter lettuce, served with shoestring fries, ready in 10. Liquid assets might be the main draw here, but solid assets can be just as valuable when served until midnight.

It's taken me forever to write a review but I had to share what an awesome server we had in the spring. I can't remember her name- but she was from the south and a class act . Not only was she on top of wine pairings, attentive, without helicopter hovering, she was on point with the delivery our food. She didn't assume we were food illiterate/ out of our element even though we're both extremely heavily tattooed. We had just walked out of another restaurant due to the typical horrendous service I have seen/experienced in Ashland ( I am a former Ashland resident that now lives on the East Coast... what gives Ashland??? why is your service so lame???)... Anyway enough about me- I have always found the food at Liquid Assets to be consistently good - they have a good menu that the kitchen puts out solidly and the wine list is pretty darn amazing. My only drawback was the drunk yuppies from California crying behind us about their first world problems... literally sobbing into their entrees .... but that isn't Liquid Assets fault- it's just the seasonal demographic. I will go back again any time I am in town because of the excellent service of this woman and the constantly great food.

The food is good but not especially so, and the prices are a notch above what they should be for that quality. My partner & I shared a chevre salad, a pasta carbonara with mushrooms & a glass of good Rogue Valley claret for $40 + tip. The salad was tasty & generously portioned, with a simple flavor profile (greens, chevre & dried cranberries). The carbonara was a bit dry, with a generous amount of good bacon & a small handful of good peas, but the mushrooms were watery & added little in the way of flavor. Our server, though very nice, didn't seem to know much about wine. I'll look for other options for an after-theater dinner before returning.

Good food. Good service. It wasn't full of young hipsters and I'm thinking that might be because it was too sophisticated for their taste. We had a lovely evening.

Liquid Assets is a wine bar that Gayle and I stopped after an afternoon OSF play. I would have been happier with a Caldera (or other Taproom) beer, but Gayle likes her wine. My only complaint about Liquid Assets is that the service was a little flabby in the middle. Past that, the art-enhanced interior was very attractive, the seating was comfortable, the wine selection was interesting, the cheese plate was tasty, and we were here for happy hour pricing. The place also seems to be popular and was filled with lots of happy and interesting people.

My new favorite restaurant in Ashland. Everyone was happy with their food. Simple but tasty Greek salad, seriously good gazpacho and a scrumptious cheese and sweet corn fritter. Plus a super refreshing sangria and friendly attentive service.

Without question, my favorite place in town for a glass (or, bottle!) of wine. The staff really, really knows their wines, and never fails to impress. The food is incredible, and very creative. I'd say I love the art on the wall but that might be biased, since I have hung my own work there before :-) Check it out if you haven't been!

Stopped in for a few drinks and I have to say the Rhubarb and Rye is so delicious, best drink with homemade flavors I've had in days! The staff is friendly and sweet. A lot of people may think it is too fancy and you can't have fun, but you really can and we did!

Attentive, sensitive and smart service. Small but perfect for a small town bistro menu. A Manhattan with Oregon rye. Local craft beer. Great bread and butter- which is a la carte- (free bread is usually free for a reason). Rich puréed asparagus soup in season. Simple traditional carbonara- al dente the way it should be. Using locally sourced ingredients which is difficult to do anywhere. Will return next Ashland visit.

Liquid Assets was a great experience. It's great place to start of date night and reconnect with that special someone. The service is not in a hurry to get done with you and on to the next costumer, but checks on you often enough that you won't get impatient. The food was great! The best way to explain it is reaching across the table with a bite on your fork saying "omg try this." (I had the Huge Asset Burger and she had the Linguini with Clams). My girlfriend had a sore throat and they made her tea with honey, you won't get that at Olive Garden. Did I mention the wine? They nailed it. My date tried a sample, told the waitress what she wanted different, and the waitress brought back a wine that she loved. Five stars!!

After 3 days eating and drinking our way thru Napa, my wife and I made the 5 hour drive north to Ashland. Using Yelp, we decided to have dinner at Liquid Assets. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but like death and taxes, it will happen and you will find a spot. Suggest turning right after the restaurant and there is the triangular city square and hopefully you'll find the latter. BIG BONUS! If you order between 3:00pm to 5:00pm, you get a happy hour discount on food and drinks. We were early and took full advantage and were happy! We tried 3 of their Oregon wines and they were all great. Food included the Truffled Popcorn, Warm Chevre Salad, Salmon Rillettes and Mushroom Carbonara. All 4 plates were good, but the salmon and carbonara are to die for. Denise was our waitress (also bartender) and took great care of us. Four glasses of wine and four plates of food for lest than $70...what a wonderful way to end the day! We will stop here on our way back from our trip.

As a beer enthusiast, I love their rotating draft selection, which includes many beers that are rarely available elsewhere. I love a good glass of wine but I never seem to know what to order. When I come here I only have to ask the staff for a few recommendations before I find the perfect glass. What really brings me back to Liquid Assets every time though is their cocktails. They serve the most DELICIOUS COCKTAILS in Southern Oregon, hands down!

I was in Ashland recently and happened upon a little card advertising the Liquid Assets happy hour. It just happened to be a block away from me and it was 3pm -- their opening time! The ambience is wonderful -- just what you would expect of a classy little wine bar. I sat near the front and was able to work on my laptop while enjoying a delicious glass of Willamette Valley pinot noir (it was called "Angela"), which was $2 off for happy hour. I also had a cheese selection, which was again $2 off. Wonderful cheese and accompaniments! I also had a wonderful conversation with the server. He was friendly, attentive, and we were able to discuss the wines in depth. In my opinion, this place is a good value for the products they offer. The wines may seem expensive to some, but I think those must be people who do not often drink excellent wines. The items on the menu are carefully chosen and are retail priced correctly for the quality. Also, if you go in for happy hour, it is basically two dollars off of everything! I definitely recommend this for dates, groups, and especially for some high-quality time by yourself!

We had a great meal here-- my husband and I split the chèvre salad, then he had the carbonara and I had the risotto. All really good. My only tweak would be to put some sort of garnish on the risotto or put the veggies on top so they show--- it looked really white and uninteresting, though it tasted good. Very friendly server who gave us recommendations for wine tasting the next day. I would go back for sure.

Great wine selections (and affordable -- retail + small corkage fee) and the wine is excellent. Plan on spending a long time there -- they put no pressure on you and you are sample as many small plates as you want. The beef tartare is extraordinary, but so too is almost everything they serve -- the clams with chorizo for example was spectacular.

Incredibly comfortable and fun place! Lots of seating options and the staff is top notch! Priced well, too! We asked for their best bottle of Pinot and it was only $54...and a great wine!

What a wonderful wine bar! The wine list is thorough and deep, plus a full and complete bar. (Very nice single malt selection, in particluar.) What sets the place apart, though, are the very nice staff and the unusually robust menu for a wine bar. We had an assortment of small plates, inculding a great butternut risotto, crab cakes, a very unusual spanish cheese plate and a great, flavorful salad. Can't really go wrong - wonderful atmosphere, drinks and food!

After noticing I was charged $75 on a $25 tab, I called the following day to ensure this was a mistake. I called four times during business hours (at a slow time) and no one answered. I later went in and waited at the front with no service, I walked to the bar and waited another five minutes before the server came out of the kitchen. There was one table in the restaurant at this time. The server informed me that the manager would call at 6pm. At 8pm I called the restaurant and was told the manager would call right back. An hour later I went in and again was not acknowledged at the front for several minutes. Once the host was aware that I needed to speak to the manager I waited another fifteen minutes. The manager walked past me several times not acknowledging me. I went to the bar to get her attention and was rudely told she would come to the front when she had time. Ten minutes later she finally spoke with me and was extremely rude and short with me. As a restaurant manager I am aware mistakes happen. My issue is with the extremely rude manager and service and poorly handled issue. I will not be returning.

Great find! This place was so great that my friend and I came back every day we were in town. The waitress/bartender was amazing (didn't catch her name). We asked for her choice for a red wine and white wine flight and every wine she picked was delicious. We took home 6 bottles total! The truffle popcorn, lava cake, and air conditioning was also amazing. We are 100% coming back next year and are adding Liquid Assets to our annual OSF trip.

One of the best restaurants in Ashland. Many think that they only serve wine and snacks, but not so! Their pork sous vide is to die for. I'm also a big fan of their salads and risotto. Word on the street is that they are changing up their menu for winter. I'll be there to try it. This is a classy joint with excellent, friendly service and delicious martini's and wine you won't find elsewhere. I also appreciate that one can actually hold a conversation. I relax and drink what they recommend as many of their wines are from small boutiques and you won't know about them. I have never been dissatisfied. And if I were, I know they'd make it right. Don't miss their cheese plate and almonds if you are just looking for a snack. p.s. It's bigger than it looks, with several tables in an addition at the back. A nice place to meet friends. Not really a place for kids. TV is on over the bar, but audio is turned off.

I've been here 3 or 4 times and found the food and drink to be wonderful. The server, who was unusually knowledgeable and friendly, makes it a really fun evening. There is a great cider, quite a variety of beers, and lots of interesting wines. The menu is varied and each dish we've tried has been a delight. Since we go as a party of 6 and share bites and sips, I've gotten to try a lot of the offerings. Some times, the portions seemed small, and other times generous. If you are pretty hungry, maybe ask how much you'll get for a particular dish. Allow enough time, as the service maybe a bit slow at times; but we were enjoying our conversation and didn't mind. Although It's on the spendy side, it's really fun and good.

The ambiance is terrific. The food is outstanding and it is a French man speaking. The service with Denise is outstanding. Very highly recommended. In addition, the shop has a great selection of wines and it is great to be able to select the great wine that fit your meal and to pay a great fair price. Very highly recommended. We will be back

This place has evolve over time from a beautiful wine and beer lounge to a beautiful wine and beer lounge that also has fabulous cocktails and food I'd put up against some of the "best" restaurants in San Francisco. Interesting menu, fresh ingredients, well prepared, flavorful without being over "done." It's one of the pricier tickets in town, but so good!

I went in with my boyfriend last week because of the great reviews. Maybe we should have gone on a day Lucy was there but it wasn't awesome. They seemed to have a good selection and I was really excited to see Nikasi on tap. We explained to the bartender that we were from out of town- visiting, found them on yelp, what not what not. She just wasn't that friendly at all. Like we put a lot more effort into talking to her than she did to us and she wasn't busy. I think she just had friends on the other side of the bar that she was more into. I understand that... but... it can ruin your experience with a place- I liked the art and the light fixtures- maybe I felt like the atmosphere was a lil cold and not as romantic as what I am used too going into a wine bar. Not a fan of the big tv- like another person mentioned. Besides that my wine wasn't incredible- it had a lot of sediment and tasted like 3 or 4 days opened. My bf really liked his beer- they put it in a red wine glass which was weird but didn't really bother me. We also got a cheese plate for $14 and it was sad- good cheeses, there was just an average amount of cheese and 4 pieces of bread. For $14 I was expecting a little more, at other wine bars, that can get you cheese, artichoke hearts, some nuts, bread, olives, and a lil chocolate. I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this place. I was very excited to go, I love wine, cheese, and good beer. I probably won't go back.

Wow...what a find! Great wine selection wine Bar/restaurant. My wife had the risotto and I had the halibut entrees. They were superb! Carefully and cleverly prepared. Pared with some of the wines by the glass and exceptional service (thanks to Lucy), made for a memorable evening. Nice locals (and local want to be's) haunt. Comfortable with tables, bar, and couches, we couldn't have found a more comfortable and welcoming place. Service was impeccable ( thanks again Lucy). The owner/chef/wine buyer Jim and his wife Denise are charming and more than knowledgeable and have done an outstanding job. Don't miss this gem among the many places to dine, relax and enjoy in Ashland.

Relaxed setting for wine tasting, the flight was a good way to sample the vine. A huge plus is they serve good food as well. We had the lamb on recommendation from a frequent flyer. The scallops were great! Best for last was blood orange crepe suzette OMG it was delicious!!!

Great spot! Friendly, knowledgable bar tender. Nice wine & cocktail selection. Get rid of the TV and replace the crappy watercolors with some real Art and this could be a perfect little wine bar...

We had reservations at the Ashland Springs Hotel and arrived right after all the restaurants were closed. We were feeling the need to eat a bit and relax before sleeping and a quick search of Yelp brought us to this wine bar. What a great little place! The server was attentive and helpful. I had a wonderful glass of local Tempranillo and my husband had a great ale, both locally sourced. We also had the bacon wrapped dates and the steak tartare, both very tasty. Sitting on the sofa here with a small meal was a great way to unwind from a long day of driving in the rain! We ended up buying a bottle of wine since we really enjoyed it and it's a local winery that doesn't sell anywhere else.

I wish I'd had more time for a leisurely meal at this place (but I had to make an 8pm show). Even with our time constraints, the staff was great: so great, in fact, that we went back after the show to eat those blood orange crepes we'd been coveting. Beautiful little place, lots of dim lighting and weird art, comfy couches and an interesting wine list and rack. If they had a TV, as some of the reviews suggest, they either took it out or turned it off. In October, the place was nearly deserted, even during dinner hour before the shows. The menu is limited, but really, people, that's a good thing: it means that they're not trying to do four dozen different things badly. The beef tournedos were extremely tender and well-seasoned, and I only wish, as I said, that I hadn't had to wolf them down.

Lovely place in Ashland. I use to criticize their lack of local wines, but they have really turned my opinion around recently with more local bottles available. I tried a 2007 Francis Tannahill Grenache last night that was a good find. Also, try the brie and fennel - total heaven.

I love this place. I love to sit at a bar and eat. Not sure why, but I do. The bar stools are comfy. There are always a slew of great beers on tap, often including Pliny the Elder or another Russian River delight, which are always favorites. The menu is limited, but I've never had a bad dish. Current fave is the Caldo Verde soup. The bartenders are great as well - always ready to suggest a wine, customize a cocktail and gab with you. If you like to watch sports, it's probably the best non-sports bar sports bar, with a big plasma over the bar. You'd never expect it from looking at the place. I might go tonight!

Probably my favorite place in Ashland. The wine list is always interesting and the staff very knowledgeable. They're more than willing to guide you to a selection that fits your taste. It's not just a wine bar, though. The chef is classically trained and produces great food from high-quality ingredients that is both delicious and beautifully presented. We've enjoyed every meal we've ever had there (and we've had quite a few). Most recently we tried the Seared Scallops. They're served on an English pea puree with melted leeks and garnished with caviar and truffle foam. Scrumptious!

What a nice wine bar! The staff was incredibly friendly, it was in a good location and was a comfortable place to hang out for a couple of hours. The food was _fantastic_ (best beef tartare I've ever had); I was really impressed at the selection of appetizers, entrees and cheese plates-- definitely more than just a wine bar. As for the wine, they had a nice selection, although most wines were on the younger side. But they are helpful in letting you taste until you find one you like. Also had a decent beer and cocktail list. Definitely a place I would visit again.

No contest, best glass of wine/app/desert/hang for five/ decide to do dinner after all/ in town. There are "conspicuously" classy joints in Ashland, understandable in a tourist town, but L-A is "understated" class with small town friendly feel. Walk in and check the shelves before you take a seat - there are more bottles on the shelves than on the printed list. Talking of seats the used looking used sofas are exactly that - distressed rather than well worn - terribly uncomfortable, old springs sticking through the seat, no back support, and really should be returned to the dumpsters they look like they came from. Sit at a table unless you have a credit account with a local chiropracter. Only the Varsity cinema can outdo this for torture. They need to go. I have no idea how another reviewer could possibly call these "plush" couches. Utterly untrue, poor chap. Never mind. Review not rant.... The LA wine list is comprehensive for such a small operation with an obvious emphasis on OR/CA/WA wineries ( Ashland is a tourist town duh - no cheapo chilean wine here) . Their 3 wine sampler flight is always intelligently selected and makes for fun comparisons, usually a higher end, and 2 middle of the road matched varietal/styles that often surprise. The stock turns over frequently but real high ticket wines are absent - not least because so many are overpriced (eg Oregon Pinots and "claret blends") blasphemy I know but sadly true.. and the selection here is discerning as well as value oriented. BUT the food is the "sleeper" here. Rarely does one find a wine bar even in a big city with such delights. Beef tartare is outstanding when available, as is the almost liquid exquisite duck pate ( a foie gras style but PC I am told). Local cheeses and other offerings on a tapas style apps menu can extend for however long you want to drink and graze in style, with a few entrees for backup. I am not allowed deserts but am told they shine. Service is attentive and never intrusive. Owner Denise is a stellar hostess and can guide you through her stock list informatively although she does need to take an art appreciation course. Sizzling service from recent recruit Lucy. For a town this small we are lucky to have this place - locals call it Lick ass, but its really Kick ass.

The only place in Ashland to sit comfortably for hours, savor some wine or a drink, and graze on small plates. The service is relaxed and there's no pressure to turn a table. If you're a knitter, this is the best place in town to relax and enjoy!. The steak tartare is probably the best I've ever had.

This little place was across the street from our hotel, and I watched people coming in and out for a couple of days. When we finally went in, I expected it to be a little snooty and possibly unfriendly -- after all, there were paintings on the wall (1) for sale and (2) from an artist I could recognize as having seen before! And we are doofuses. Nope. Seated with a smile, waters right away, checked on often and our ordering was a lovely conversation with a knowledgeable server who made appropriate suggestions, and followed up with more information and without rushing us out. Not cheap, but a treat.

Jim and Denise are awesome! They have considered every possible detail. I took my wife to their establishment for our 21st anniversary dinner and we sat in the window watching the tourists wander by as we devoured our dinners! We were treated like royalty and would definitely recommend them. Oh, also the food was EXCELLENT! rs

If I am to drink alcohol I prefer wine. This is a perfect place to try all sorts of wine. The staff is really helpful in finding the perfect wine, if you are unsure of what to choose. There are also little appetizers too to choose from. Every week they have someone sing around 8 PM which can be a fun experience. The seating is great and very relaxing. Great place to relax, have a glass of wine and chat with friends.

got a red wine tasting and a whiskey tasting. the place tries, but it's a little off. the seating is not that comfortable and the lighting is a little too bright for a winebar. the place is also a bit loud and cold. their selection seemed pretty good and also liked that you could buy a bottle for just $5 above the shelf price. seems like this place might've started off as a shop then turned into a bar.

Stopped by for a snack after the afternoon play. Had the Pinot flight and the pate. Both were very good. Got $2 off for happy hour. An enjoyable, albeit slightly more expensive, alternative to going to the Black Sheep for a pint and some chips.

Very nice atmosphere, quiet, subdued, no loud patrons. Yay! Food was well prepared and fairly priced. Nice feature was purchase of a full bottle of wine from their selection carries only a $5 corkage. Cheese course (we had 3 with greens and baguette) were excellent. We will visit again on our travels through Oregon.

My cousin tells me that people near the Rogue River Valley become slightly insane over the quality of their food and wine, because, well, there's nothing else really to do in that neck of the woods. This might be the rationale behind Liquid Assets: the wine, the food, and the decor have been carefully and thoughtfully selected - suggesting that someone is a bit nutty about gastronomy, and has a bit too much free time. Whatever the reason behind it, I strongly suggest stopping here for a flight of wine and any of their appetizers. I can't even remember what I ordered - just that it was a salty, heavenly mix that involved chorizo and me trying to convince my beloved that we needed to move to Ashland immediately.

we were here on a sunday evening, and there were probably all of a dozen people there. i don't know why, because it was a great little place! the wine menu was interesting and diverse (from the very local to the international), the service was friendly and accommodating, and the food was superb too (with much of it being local!) the setting was cozy, but classy, and the prices seemed very reasonable (compared to the bay, anyway.) ... and, in case you were wondering, i had/shared: the taste of spain appetizer lobster risotto dagoba lavender chocolate creme brulee and a glass of crios' 2008 torrantes (argentina)

This place is THE place in Ashland for wine and beer. They have a great selection of wine from Oregon, Washington, California and around the world. They only have about 5 taps but there are always filled with top notch, hard-to-find beer. The atmosphere is perfect if your looking for a nice relaxing place to hang out and talk with friends or a loved one. The food is a expensive and not all that great but their Spanish plate and their cheese selections are pretty good. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Really nice place. Had an excellent meal. Great atmosphere. Great downtown location. Great wine list. Also, an outstanding beer selection(if you're a beer geek like me). Had a Maharaja, and a Pliney the Elder. Two of the top beers on the planet.

Mediocre food and awful service. Just left dinner here and was hugely disappointed. For one of the top rated restaurants in Ashland, it was entirely underwhelming. Do you want to wait 20 minutes for a glass of water? If so, come to this restaurant! We ordered the goat cheese salad which was good, but not worth waiting an hour. Too many almonds and not enough goat cheese. My partner ordered the asset burger which he described as "not better than steak and shake" and my mushroom carbonara was bland at best. Incredibly slow service and barely decent food. Such a disappointment... Will not be coming back!

I'm only assigning one star, because I cannot assign zero stars. We walked in, were being ignored, then treated rudely by both staff members we encountered. There was no attention at all for 20 minutes, so we left. I have no way to write a review of any of the service because there was none.

Service was very slow for just a round of drinks. Took a long time for our order to be taken after we sat down and got menus. On the upside, their Tiramisu was really delicious.

10/10 on all the food we had. I'm from New England and grew up eating clam chowder and this is some of the best I've had. 2 of us shared the pork shank and not only did it taste divinely inspired, but we also had substantial leftovers. Sauteed mushrooms and panna cotta also were amazing. Just one of the best meals I've ever had. One point of improvement I'd say is the service was a bit slow. But they made up for that with extreme helpfulness and friendliness. They might also consider dimming the lights a bit in the front room during dinner. There is no doubt that when we come to Ashland, we will beam straight for this place. I almost can't wait to eat here again.

A very nice wine bar in Ashland. Not only do they have a great wine selection at a reasonable price point, they also have friendly and knowledgeable servers. We shared a three cheese plate and a dark chocolate flourless cake for dessert. Both were very tasty. Great entertainment too on the night we were there, by local singer songwriter Gene Burnett. We'll be back the next time we are in Ashland.
