It was a little hard to find, but once you're inside it's a small little romantic spot I'd say. Ordered the Lobster Dip as an appetizer and it was pretty good. Wished the lobster was in better bite sized pieces spread throughout. My boyfriend ordered the Organic Draper Valley Chicken Sandwich which he loved. He even dipped his sandwich in the leftover lobster dip. I ordered the Casa di Parma Piadini which was a Flatbread. It was pretty yummy. Overall, we really liked the place, the mood, and the food. We'll be back again.

Huh? Say wha? What gives? These pretty much sum up my thoughts on this really confused, uninspiring place. First, you have to find it. Once you do, it "could" be cool, nestled up high in a seemingly cozy space, but it's not. Then, you sit encapsulated by gigantor screens everywhere. Are we in a sportsbar? Sort of, but not really. Then, there is a screen with DigitalPour on it, featuring their beers and wine on tap--except it was broken, and stuck on the wines, so we never did realize all the beers they have. The server didn't care....she was like "yip, that happens" Hopefully , the server/bartender would then tell you about the drinks. Nope. We read the tap handles and tried to figure it out. Then, the Point of Sale was down. No biggie, but it seemed to throw lots of things off. Overall, a mediocre selection of beers, but I did enjoy a Boneyard specialty from Bend, and my wife a local favorite from Arch Rock. Fries...we had some. They were decent enough, but it didn't make the experience. Can't put my finger on this place...what it's trying to be, what it wants to be, and what it is. I hope they take some time to figure that out. It is definitely not a pub/taphouse like they proclaim, as nobody seems to have any passion around beers and/or wine. Hmmmmm..... probably won't be back.

Avoid this place on Friday/Saturday unless you want to dance with all the college students to strobe lights and a DJ. This place is a bit pricey for me but for the right reasons. The bartender with the beard is awesome! Makes delicious drinks and is great conversation. If you're a fan of old fashions he's the man to make them. The beer selection is good and they have my favorite wine on tap (Wooldridge!) The huge TV in front of the bar is also great for sports and one of my favorite things about the taphouse. Otherwise I wish Granite would stick to one thing instead of trying to make everyone happy. During the week, it's a quiet nice place to sit down on a date or with a friend for a drink but as soon as the weekend rolls around it's crowded, noisy and filled with unpleasant people.

Great food! Great dessert! Creme brûlée was on point. Really nice bartender guy working the weekday night shift. Was very personable and genuine. He gave us some great recommendations as well for other bars/restaurants since we were from out of town. The drinks were perfectly made. The location was really cool on the third floor. Five stars!

Best late night pizza ever! The size of my torso! Heat drinks and staff, I have been in over a dozen times and I haven't had a bad experience yet.

We've had far better luck at Granite than some of the reviews would lead you to believe. So far my wife and I have visited at least a half dozen times and really not had bad experience. Mind you we've stuck to the Philly sandwich, burgers and pizza but they've all been quite tasty. Oh yeah, almost forgot brunch on the weekend. Quite good really.

I'm sorry but you should never leave just one server on the floor during a lunch/happy hour shift. We came in on Mother's Day and there was only one server and now we come in on a Friday(5/15/2015) and same thing. I do want to say that Jocelyn was an amazing server and all she could do was smile during all this commotion. Whoever owns or manages this place should quit or get fired. Why should you think it's ok to not have a manager on at all times during business if something does go wrong? The food was horrible and me and my boyfriend will not be returning for the food but may return for the beers and the poor bartenders who have to go through this bullshit (it looks like) on the daily!!!! Someone needs to manage this restaurant better!!!

I really just love this place. Tony the bartender is super friendly. We always wind up coming here on our date night, because it's just a cozy place. Even when there is a game on, it's easy to find a nook in the corner of the bar. Every single server has been on it and incredibly friendly. I've never had a bad meal.

Went for lunch. Service was reasonable. Nice view of the mountains. A small, tasty but not mindblowing salad, a bowl of pea soup and an Italian soda, $24 before tip (!). At LUNCHTIME. They describe the pea soup as "bottomless" but the service is too slow for you to get more than two bowls, and at these prices, I wanted to run into the kitchen and drink the whole pot off of the stove because this was a RIP. OFF. A bunch of bros at the bar watching a game, but the dining room felt old school and elegant. It seems like a place in search of a concept. Way too many better, cheaper options in Ashland for this to fly. Disappointing.

The first time we ate here we loved it, food, drink, service. Tonight is our 3rd visit and this is the 2nd time we've been disappointed. We ordered a pasta dish - it came cold....we also ordered a salad with salmon, it came with salmon missing, then when our salmon did arrive, it arrived raw in the middle. Oh well.....

Great burger, expansive beer selection, and service with a smile! This was my third visit and it's always been great. Wonderful view of Ashland plaza too, if you can get a table at the window.

BAR ONLY Four of us came here the other night after having dinner at Loft Brasserie (french food in the same building). The bar was really nice and elegant. We sat at a table but no one helped us so we went up to the bar and ordered. The bartender was nice and helpful. After we all had drinks our cocktail server showed up. We had a cosmopolitan, it was fine. A tart & tangy which was horrible. It has jalapeno's in it, which is normally fine but he added why too much and way too much margarita mix and barely any alcohol so it was like sugar. After having fresh drinks (muddled before your eyes with no pre-made mixers) at Jefferson Spirits in Medford, it's really difficult to drink a pre-made mixed drink elsewhere =( And 2 on tap beers. Anyway. There were 3 spills/broken glasses by a worker and 2 different patrons. The bathroom wasn't impressive at all and barely clean. All in all, I would return to see if that was an every night experience or a fluke. Ambiance - 3.5 stars Environment - 4 stars Prices - 4 stars Service - 3 stars I'd rate this place 3.5 stars but am rating down.

Sorry we chose this restaurant and will not be back. We were there at 2 in the afternoon and the only ones in the restaurant. My daughter's Cesar salad came out about 20 minutes after we ordered.....continued to wait for my sandwich and husband's burger as she ate her salad...still no food another 20 minutes later so we got up to go....waitress got the meal together right away so I took sandwich and fries to go. Ate in the park. Sandwich was soggy and fries cold. Bad food. All around horrible experience. My husband went to Greenleaf next door and got an excellent tuna sandwich to go in just a few minutes. Would not recommend spending hard earned money on overpriced bad food that takes too long to prepare.

Oh my god, this place has the most amazing food i have ever tasted! My family and i ate there one night and every dish we had was outstanding. My mother is a hard one to please and it was the first time we ate somewhere where she didn't have anything bad to say and actually gave me that look, after the first bite, of oh my god this is amazing. Marco, the owner, is a sweetheart and goes out of his way to give you the best experience possible! Love you guys.

We travel to Ashland regularly and try to eat at new places on each visit. We won't soon forget this visit. If I were to use one word to describe this eatery: PASSION. Each dish, every ornament, every beer, the whole ethos: PASSION. We had just finished a small round of sushi and were on the hunt for another eatery when we saw a sidewalk placard announcing, "Bodacious Burgers." The restaurant itself is somewhat hidden from most who might be traveling and unaware of the great shops found within the plazas second and third floors. A short walk down a long breezeway, an elevator ride to the third floor, and casual opulence awaits. I have always believed that you start eating great food before it is ever delivered to the table and this place was no exception. Upon arrival our eyes were teased with remarkable antiques and our olfactory senses aroused with aromas of fresh bread and sautéing herbs and bulbs. The 18 or so tap handles included some of this authors favorites; Belgium style abbey ales. I chose the Trappist ale from Chimay and started perusing the menu. We started with two of their "bodacious" burger offerings. Anytime local grass fed beef is wrapped in a freshly baked brioche palate bliss is about to happen, and it did. Perfectly cooked somewhere between mid rare and medium allowed for the juices to compliment the creative ingredients. Mine was a coming together of thick applewood bacon, roasted poblano peppers, fontina cheese and chipotle mayo. AWESOME. But we didnt stop there. Upon a lengthy discussion with Marco the owner we next tried the Margherita pizza and an unforgettable fried chicken. The pie, well i can only say you need to try it yourself...WOW. And the fried chicken, not sure so much love has ever been poured into this southern classic. The menu itself does not divulge the painstaking processes as described by owner Marco but you need to ask him cause this is definitely over-the-top fried chicken. We can't wait for a return visit to sample other food art from what again can only be describe as PASSION in edible form...:)

I want to start off by saying the food here is absolutely delicious and they offer vegan and gluten-free options which is convenient, however, their service was a bit disjointed and slow. This place has amazing food, but it needs to work out the kinks soon if it wants to survive. My boyfriend and I were seated quickly, but the host couldn't even find the menus at his podium. We had to stand there for a couple of minutes while he fumbled around looking into different file folders trying to find menus for us. We were seated in a very tiny table connected to another tiny table so we immediately thought it was a 4-seat table so I put my purse on the chair next to me. We were given legal sized papers stapled together which was our menu. Immediately, we were told that I had to move my purse because they were seating another couple next to us which was a bit weird since the area we were in was already cramped. Whenever a wait staff member was behind me and I moved my right arm up, I would hit them! Anyway, my date and I wondered allowed why we weren't given a list of drinks especially, since this is a tap house. No servers came to our table for 10 minutes so I went up to the host's podium and asked for a drink menu which only had their specialty mixed drinks so I asked for a list of the beers they had on tap. I was told they don't have a list yet, but I could just ask the server for a verbal list of the 20+ offerings on tap. What the heck??? This is a tap house and they don't even have a list of what's on tap? I relayed this to my boyfriend and the couple sitting next to us who were also having similar issues. We had to end up sharing the cocktail menu with the couple next to us because they were having a hard time getting a server to come to the table. Finally, after quite a bit of time, my date and I ordered the tuna tartare and fries for appetizers and I had the green salad with steak while he had the fried chicken with the asparagus substituted with salad. We decided to get drinks to see how good the bartender was so I ordered a specialty tequila drink with muddled jalapeño and grapefruit while my boyfriend ordered their specialty Old Fashioned. The drinks and appetizers were absolutely outstanding. The tuna tartare was fresh, light with a hint of spice from the chili oil (I believe) and the fries were some of the best in town! They were crunchy and tasty! Plus, the servings were huge! The drinks were excellent. My drink had a nice kick to it at the finish due to the jalapeño. I recommend it for something different. Well, it was a good thing we ordered appetizers and drinks since we were later notified --in the middle of our appetizers--the fried chicken would take an extra 20 minutes to prepare and if we wanted to order something else or wait. It was nice they offered us the option as they did to the couple seated with us since they ordered a burger and the fried chicken. My boyfriend decided to wait for the chicken and the woman in the other couple decided to order the cheesesteak instead. So we waited and talked to the couple next to us while the place was started to get packed. They brought out my salad early way before my boyfriend got his food so we both had a little bit of my huge and amazing salad. The steak was absolutely delicious and was cooked/seasoned perfectly. The greens were tossed with pumpkin seeds, radishes, pickled peppers and a walnut oil vinaigrette. It was absolutely vibrant, fresh, and well-seasoned. After awhile, they finally brought out the fried chicken for my date and it was a huge plate with a breast, leg and thigh. The have him the side of the salad, but they left the asparagus on the plate and took away the sweet potato purée which was something he really wanted. We were able to find a server and ask for the purée. My boyfriend demolished his food. He absolutely loved it and said it was better than the fried chicken at Smithfield's. The only negative thing he had to say about his plate of food was that the gravy was too thick to get out of the serving dish and there was very little of it. It looked like no one told the kitchen that the woman next to us ordered the cheesesteak when she was told there would be a longer wait because she ended up getting served both meals so the restaurant ended up taking back the cheesesteak and gave her the meal for free due to the mix up. The man she was with got his humming us burger and they both devoured their food telling us it was absolutely delicious. The woman had the same opinion about the small amount of gravy in the hard to use dish. Anyway, I know this place is new, but try it. The pizza looked amazing as well as all the other food. I think I'll come here again, but just to have a drink and some small food in the lounge area.

This might just have become my new home away from home. Locally sourced ingredients, full bar, not the best place for kids, but I saw one or two with their elders. Tony the bartender who served me is a hoot! The food is VERY rich, so beware if you have digestive sensitivities like me. Apparently they do live music Thursday thru Saturday nights starting about 10:30.

As first timers going to this restaurant, I must say that they have delicious juicy burgers. Not only are the burgers juicy, they are all made of organic ingredients, so you can pretty much say that its "Healthy." Service was excellent too, the waiter was friend and nice, seating was also quick. Overall the dining environment offers a pleasure experience, I highly recommend anyone in the area to check out this new business. You will not be disappointed.

Granite has a great selection of beer and wine on tap and fantastic cocktails to boot (specifically Old Fashioneds, as they are my favorite!) Hang out at the bar early enough in the evenings, and on weekdays, and the atmosphere is great: cool, mellow, great music, enjoyable food... The list goes on! Avoid Granite at all costs Friday through Sunday, when Granite turns into its evil twin (read: strobe lighting, loud drum machine music, DJs, college kids, etc), unless you're looking for a stroll down drunk memory lane, or are in fact in college.

I don't like writing bad reviews, but indeed I must. I have been there several times and each time I wonder why I went there. It's usually busy, which is good, but they only have 1 bar tender who must serve drinks to the the bar area AND the restaurant. She is always rushed and sometimes I have waited 15 minutes to get a drink, Moreover, they get top dollar for their drinks, but pour a below average shot. I give this place one year.

I've been here several times now and have always been treated like royalty by the staff! The pizzas are different and to die for! The Pizza Chef, O'sheea, really knows his stuff! I was served by Angela, she was definitely more than accommodating for how picky I am with food. The owners, Marco and Ryan were so nice! They brought us popcorn and checked in on us during our meal! I felt completely comfortable and taken care of! I order a "Third Floor" drink, and it was incredible! I never though basil would be so tasty in an alcoholic drink!! Granite is a smallish place but well worth it to stop by!!!

A lot of kinks to work out-- staff doesn't know what beers are on tap! Um, hello! Tap house? Food was mediocre-- lobster app was so salty it was in edible. Not okay.

I really wanted the granite taphouse to meet my expectations and be great, but I was sorely disappointed. We ordered onion rings and lobster dip as starters, and I can't recommend either of them. The onion rings were acceptable as far as flavor goes, but were greasy, unseasoned and mostly stuck together. The lobster dip was a surprise, the cheese sauce itself was overly thick and overwhelming in flavor, the lobster was completely lost. We ordered the calzone for the kids, and it was a huge brick of flavorless fillings accompanied by watery tomato sauce, more than disappointing. I've never had something filled with cheese and pepperoni that tasted like absolutely nothing, I can't figure how they did it. For my entree I got the fried chicken sandwich, which again was nearly flavorless. And I don't mean it tasted bad, it just tasted like nothing. I added fries, big mistake. They were a greasy mess of broken fry bits, some soft and limp, some brown and crispy, again disappointing. And now the icing on the cake, my wife's lobster roll. I took all of the other disappointment in stride, but the disaster they call a lobster roll really made me angry. I should have taken a picture, because I don't think my description will do it justice. The entree arrives, a big soft roll and a massive pile of limp looking red cabbage fill the plate, along with some sort of liquid poured haphazardly over everything. My wife removed the top of the roll, and her disappointment was tangible. Her $18 dollar sandwich was maybe a third filled with a combination of small lobster bits and big squares of mushy peppers. The taste was just about as appealing as the look. She did send the soggy mess back, but the night was ruined. If I could pick one word to describe the experience, it would be clumsy. From the three different hosts who asked us if we needed a table, to every item of food brought out, it was clumsy. Please save yourself the trouble and money, and if you must go, just go for drinks.

A little hard to find but well worth the adventure. Our waitress was amazing and helped us select everything from beer to an amazing burger. We started with onions rings- the best we have ever had! Then had a burger- fresh ground rib eye, on a house made brioche roll! Oh my goodness - the brioche was so amazing! Don't miss this place!

Actually had to leave! Good beer and food only reason for one star. Grandmother, mother, wife, newborn son and myself took about 3 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us, then walking to our table got offered another table by the window needing to be cleaned still and that's all she wrote, never saw the server again, table was never cleaned and no one even bothered to ask us what we were doing just standing in the middle of the restaurant. Horrible experience, definetly agree wit others, "kinks" need to be worked out for survival in this town!

I really like this place. Most of the food is good. The owner Marco is an upstanding guy and you can tell he takes pride in his business. The atmosphere, location and vibe of the place is what attracts me the most. The dance nights are amazing!! So much fun in this establishment! They have gluten free pizza and is one of the only pizza places that will put real goat feta on your pizza (im lactose intollerant). I highly recommend this place for a good evening out. They have the most attentive bartender (Tony) who really makes the bar experience memorable. Thursday-Saturday best nights.

I have been there twice, once with two guys to drink beer and recently with 3 couples for dinner. All of us would return. The place is new to Ashland, rather understated and upscale in decor. Very cheerful, friendly staff. Great selection of beer. Had a good margarita, not great. I am very particular about this drink. Much better than the average Mexican restaurant where many of them use a mix that tastes like ordinary lemonade. Here, at least, I could taste the tequila. Great Greek salad. (Should be great; easy to make.) Chicken Saltimboca for me - liked it a lot. Vegetarian pizza for others. There is no such thing as a great vegetarian pizza but it was a good one. Too full for dessert but will go back and will leave room for it. Ashland is full of good restaurants. Only real problem with this one is that it is hard to find, especially for visitors.

Ignore any bad reviews. Apparently there is a lot of restaurant competition in Ashland and this is a new restaurant. The best hamburger either my husband or I have ever had. The meat itself was amazing as was the preparation etc. Here's the most amazing part of the story: We were driving from Southern California back home to Portland and stopped for the night in Ashland. It was after 10 pm by the time we stopped. We were starving and it looked like the Granite Taphouse was open. It was but they had stopped serving food at 10 pm, completely understandable on a weeknight. But here's what happened next: the owner/chef Marco (I forget his last name, sorry) came over and asked us what we wanted to eat. Then he went back, opened up the kitchen and made it and as I said before it was excellent. Everything is so fresh and the beef amazing. We also had a Mediterranean salad which was deliciously season and super fresh. And Marco served it to us himself and kept asking us if we wanted anything else, more drinks etc. What a host. I felt so welcomed. Anyway the food was superior to that of many fine restaurants where I had dined the previous week in Beverly Hills, including at the Four Seasons hotel, Spago and the like. What's more, it was such a friendly and welcoming place. I felt like everyone there really cared about the customers and about the quality of the food. Anyway, what are you waiting for? If you are luck enough to be in proximity, go to the Granite Taphouse and eat!

I liked the place, great space with a view of the square, and a good bar with a big TV. But, the food was really just ok. The antipasto plate was a bunch of stuff scooped out of jars. The signature blue and gold burger tasted alright, but it wasn't half the size of the bun. The bun was good, but that seems like something that should have been worked out. Also, the bartender was a very nice guy but he sure tried hard to sell us. Sales must be part of his compensation. A little obnoxious. Not a deal killer, but geez.

I was not impressed by anything at the Granite Taphouse. The service was lacking. We were waiting for a table, and were ignored 3 or 4 times until someone came to seat us. There were only 4 tables and I heard the server thank the next table for their patience because they were just SOOO busy. Another table was ignored completely and didn't even get to order until about 30 minutes of sitting there. I also watched the server violate health codes about 15 times in the dining area. Makes me wonder what they do in the back of the house. I tried to ignore the sloppy service and enjoy my food. Also, unimpressive. The descriptions of the burgers is a little misleading. The most flavorful thing about the burger was the bun, The pizza crust is pretty good. However, the middle was a soggy mess and inedible. The pizza had fresh tomatoes on it, and had several chunks with stem pieces on them. You can't take the second to remove those? Step it up a little bit, train your servers, have them put their hair up so the hair isn't dangling over peoples plates. And the server pulled her hair out of her face several times and then proceeded to handle peoples plates and drinks. I will not be returning, or recommending to friends.

Excellent beers on draft and they keep the handles rotating regularly. If you enjoy beer, you have got to come check this place out. You will not be disappointed! Today was 104, so I went with the 2 towns cider. It's 10.4%, tastes delicious, not too sweet and could put me on my ass. Consume with care

My girlfriend and I ordered a Cheeseburger to share with French Fries .This is about when they first opened for lunch, not very busy, they forgot our French fries ( they did comp the fries) and they were out of one of our favorite wine's we wanted to drink. The waitress was attentive and brought us two other different wines to taste. When I asked what bands were playing on a weekend I was told promptly. If you like jalapeños and spicy food you may want to check out this place.

Our party of six had a wonderful dinner experience - everyone loved their food - the thin crust pizza was to die for; three pasta dishes prepared to perfection especially the shrimp on special with flavors none of us could stop asking to taste. Great service. We will be back again and again.

This review is an update to my first review, when they first opened. I've come back multiple times, all of which have been disappointing compared to previous experiences. The salad dressing(s) now taste bland, and the food quality as well as the attention to detail seem to have declined dramatically. Not sure if there is a new chef or change of employees. In the same building, there is a much better restaurant with better service, food and a beautiful patio. While I was leaving, I saw what appeared to be the owner (or chef) wearing filthy clothes. If you're going to be cooking my food, please at least make yourself presentable. When employees are allowed to wear obviously dirty clothes, it makes me question the sanitary standards of the establishment. On that note, because of the change in food quality as well as the unsightly appearance of the kitchen staff, I will not be returning to the taphouse.

Lots of kinks to be worked out at this place. I had a great calzone but my companions dinner salad was not as described on the menu and had to be sent back. I was absolutely astonished when the bill came and the cost of a pint of beer is six dollars. I won't support a business simply based on that.

First visit to this new place in town. My caesar salad was tasteless. My burger was really good but not having a fork, lost with my salad was a problem with the slaw. The fries are great . The other selection of a lettuce wrapped sandwich had the big end leafs and were mostly stalk and very wimpy. The dining room view is great out the windows but the in room view is the giant bar TV. Not so good for the diners. Strange credit card receipts when we split the bill with each receipt showing the last four numbers of the other card. A little work is needed for this new place as Ashland has so many choices. .

This is my favorite new spot in Ashland for not only delicious food but also a fun new nightlife spot for dancing! I have tried the gold n bleu burger, it was one of the tastiest burgers I have ever had. I can't wait to try the rest. The fried chicken plate was out of this world yummy. The pizza is the best in town. I can't wait to try everything on the menu! The staff is very friendly and attentive. The bartender is charming and makes very tasty cocktails. There are so many different types of beer to choose from on tap. The atmosphere is gorgeous. I love the old stained glass windows. I came here on Saturday night to dance and had a really fun time. The djs played great music and the crowd and vibes were on point. I will definitely be returning very very often!

I admit that this rating is probably a little generous, but I've been here twice now, and both times, I was surprised at how good the food was. The first time, I got the Organic Draper Valley Chicken Sandwich, expecting it to be similar to but not as good as the chicken sandwich from Bakesale Betty's in Oakland, CA. And while I think it might not have been as good (it's been at least 5-6 years since I had Bakesale Betty's version and I kinda forget exactly how great it is), GT's was still really yummy and exceeded my expectations. The second time, I got the Pork Belly Hawaiian Pizza. I was envisioning thin slices of pork belly with canned pineapple; boy was I wrong. Thick chunks of pork belly and fresh pineapple both grilled perfectly. It was visually impressive, and extremely flavorful. Almost too flavorful. It's something that I would only recommend to the gastronomically adventurous (you know who you are and aren't!). But, definite kudos to the chef for putting those flavors together. That takes guts. And the pizza crust! Wow! I want to go back and and order another pizza just to have the crust! I should take a star off for the slow service, but slow service is endemic in Ashland, especially during off-season. Being short on staff is almost the only way for a restaurant here to survive from Oct-Mar. That hypothetical star off would also account for the restaurant being difficult to locate. The large letters forming the word G-R-A-N-I-T-E on the third floor are only noticeable at a distance. So, if you're already nearby looking for the entrance, you won't see the letters. Instead, you'll have to look around the sidewalk for a free-standing A-frame chalkboard with the daily specials, and then head down the nearby hallway and take the elevator to the third floor. But, five stars it is--I hope to be getting pizza here for a long time to come.

Arrived solo to watch some early NFL games and was ignored by two gentlemen in the bar area as I tried to inquire about seating pertinent to games on particular TVs, which were probably the nicest part of the establishment. Once seated, the one server on the floor was pleasant, but seemingly waiting on almost every table in all dining areas, in addition to pouring most of the beer orders. So, the frosty gentleman from the bar area took my order (I ordered from the brunch menu as I was informed their regular lunch menu isn't served until after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday despite others in my immediate dining area ordering pizzas and burgers after I placed my order). I did enjoy my meal, so not a huge deal all in all. On my drive home I couldn't help but think of how Gordon Ramsey would have a field day with ownership/management of this place. The aforementioned server who was hustling food/drinks was the only employee that made you want to come back, which is unfortunate because dining options in downtown Ashland during the off season usually means you return to establishments that at least act as if they want your business. I hope they get it worked out, but I won't be going back anytime soon.

We visited the Granite Tap house for the first time and found it lacking. Very very noisy. It was hard to talk to each other. The food was mediocre. I had a salad that was $11 with only lettuce and a few little peppers and red onions. The homemade onion rings were very good. My husband had a hamburger that he liked but it only came with a little pile of shredded cabbage. The service was poor. Waitress took too long to bring drinks and to come back to check on us. We won't return.

My husband and I tried Granite Taphouse this past Monday and it was a real disappointment. We didn't have a reservation but the place was empty at 5:30 so seating was not a problem. The server came promptly to offer us drinks, but they were out of several of the beers on tap so it took us a while to find something we liked. She did offer a taste of a few of the beers; we settled on our choices but she then disappeared and it took quite a while for her to come back. We both got burgers and I ordered a side of fries for us to share. The burgers themselves were ordered medium rare and came out quite rare, which was OK but not what we ordered. The brioche bun was gummy and pasty, more like what you'd get at an ordinary fast food joint. Fries were a very generous portion, more than enough to share, and were tasty and well seasoned, but they looked like they came from the very end of the batch: all the pieces were less than an inch long, more like crumbles than fries. All in all, expect C+ run-of-the-mill fast food quality, decent beer, and a nice setting, but don't expect to see us again.

My mother and I had read good reviews about this establishment. We went with high hopes. We were seated and ordered. Thirty minutes later we were given the wrong items. We informed the waitress. We waited another 25 minutes for our food. We finally got our food. The well done burger I had ordered was almost bleeding. We were done. We left and went away angry and hungry. They were so disorganized and chaotic. I wouldn't advise anyone to go to Granite Tap House.

Really nice place. Good beer. Generous wine pour. Gluten free selections. My favorite is the zucchini pasta. Love it! Ribeye was cooked perfectly.

Very nice venue (once the Hong Kong Bar). My husband is a huge fan of the IPA and burgers. I had the lobster roll, very yummy. We also went with a friend and tried several of the appetizers. Very good fish and chips! The food is good and very nicely served. The portions are generous. Sit at a window and amazing view. Moderately priced for downtown area. I will be back.

The negative reviews really surprised me. We've been here 3-4 times and have had great food and service every time. (Although we've had the same personable waiter and I've ordered the item at least twice because it was so good). We've found the service to be fast and friendly, even if the place is crowded, and the food fresh, delicious and innovative. You can't go wrong with the piadines, burgers or pizza. At our most recent visit, they had a zucchini pasta that was scrumptious. Although a vegan dish, it was complex and interesting enough for non-vegans. Nice bar here, too. Good place to pop in for a late afternoon brew and nosh.

Adequate at best.... Over priced and uninviting. Love watching our bartender make out with her boyfriend as we eat as well as the chef/cook joking about our meal being Burnt and overcooked? Great views of the plaza is the best feature this place has to offer.

Despite being Ashland residents, we rarely go out to eat. Recently we've noticed a few new places popping up around downtown, so my husband and I decided to try a couple of these spots for my birthday. When we decided on Granite Taphouse, we weren't certain we'd get anything other than a beer so we opted for sitting at the bar. The bartender was extremely friendly, helpful, and charming. We ordered two beers, then decided to try the lobster dip appetizer. The dip contains Maine lobster, garlic butter, champagne cream sauce, and was topped with sweety drop peppers (delicious on their own!), served with their house flatbread (which indeed is made of the same 150-year-old sourdough their pizza crust is made with). The dip was delicious. Very creamy and while I agree with a previous reviewer that the lobster gets somewhat lost in the cheesy sauce, our dip had a decent amount of lobster included. While sitting at the bar, we noticed an abundance of folks ordering either an old fashioned or a dry manhattan... I promptly ordered my own manhattan, after hearing the bartender boast, "I do make a really good one..." She did in fact, make an excellent and delicious cocktail! Overall, we were pleased with our experience. We will certainly be back again!

Gayle and I had just finished enjoying an afternoon matinee at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) and of course we both turned on our phone. In this era of being part of the Borg Collective (Resistance is Futile), It's not only hard to go on vacation, but it's just as difficult to stay on vacation. In other words, we both had work-related emails and phone messages waiting for us. Gayle's business was a little more immediate as a community event was looming and she was the overall project manager. I managed to resolve my work-related obligations earlier in the week and was in residual clean-up mode. Still, I was somewhat pissed that folks knew we were on vacation and just couldn't leave us alone. However, we are both exempt professionals who are paid to get the job done. I also knew than when Gayle advised that it would "be just a minute", that it would be anything but. At that point, I decided that sitting down over a drink and letting her business unfold was the right strategy. I had seen the Granite Taphouse sign a few days earlier, and decided that I needed to check it out. We took the elevator to the 3rd Floor, she found a private space near the stairway, and I bellied up to bar and ordered a pumpkin ale for me and a glass of chardonnay for her. She eventually wrapped up her business and really appreciated that there was a glass of wine waiting for her. We added an order of truffle fries as a snack, and then got into a fascinating discussing with a bar made with a journalistic background in the military. This is just what my lovely bride and I needed to unwind and reconnect away from our work obligations. On top of this, the bar and adjacent dining room space was gorgeous. We were told that an Italian family owns the business and there are special recipes involved. Unfortunately, we ran out of vacation time before we could return for dinner, but I hope next year when we roll into town, the Granite Taphouse will be waiting for us.

This was my 2nd time here, bad odor when we arrived. Poor lighting at table making hard to read the menu. Really slow service, took at least 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Ordered the Mac and cheese trio, it's was pretty good, salads good, wings and burgers good too. All good food but not amazing. Probably won't go back.

This is a really terrific restaurant! The wait staff is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and it's a really terrific space. The location is a bit out of the way; I hope they're able to build up a good reputation in town, because it's a wonderful restaurant. The onion rings here are the best I've ever had. They also have great pizza options and phenomenal desserts. In addition, they have lots of beer and wine on tap (yes, wine on tap. From barrels.) All in all, a really wonderful place to eat.

The amount of stars is for the bad word of mouth this place generates. I've gone there as a late night spot and found it to be badly run considering how many staff they have. Sat down and immediately noticed the waitress ignoring us. So we went to the bar which was crazy busy abs the staff were very obviously stressed to the max. I had some late night food that took forever and was really bad. I've never had dinner there but everything I hear is no good.

All around pretty rough. Server seemed over his head and even though I feel quite empathetic and understanding having been a server it just seemed like he was out of his league and had a horrible attitude. He charged someone's card for the wrong table and then almost shouted at the table when they didn't want to leave with two charges on their card. Left us sitting for 15mins at the bar without a greeting an apology or just taking our drink order since he was behind the bar twice since we arrived in a pretty dead place in a Sunday in Ashland. The food arrived cold having sat in the back for too long. We've had issues with service every time we come here. It's disappointing since there food has potential and the location ambiance and view are lovely. But I don't know if I'm coming back. As we were leaving he was complaining directly to a coworker about how he can't work here. Hey buddy don't bring your trash into the office. I'm a patron here for a good time I'm sorry you're having a rough day but don't take it out on your clients. Sad times.

We've been ir-regulars to Granite TapHouse since they opened - the beer selection is awesome, as is the wine list. Most of the menu items (particularly pizza and burgers) are quite tasty. If you come here on a normal day for lunch, the service is excellent. However (and this is mostly for the benefit of the management...) unless you come on Reggae Night to hear Reggae, don't expect decent service. It seemed like the whole staff (except for our favorite waiter, who was waiting an empty room of tables...and the chef, who had to double as a cocktail waitress) was more preoccupied with prepping for Reggae Night than with waiting on the early evening customers! I'm chalking this off to an "off night" but if I get that same waitress on my next visit, I'm changing sections...

Sure, they've got some kinks to work out, and not every item on the menu is worth ordering twice, but this is a very welcome addition to Ashland's food scene. Especially since they serve lots of food until 2am. What's that you say? You thought all the kitchens in this town closed at 12? Well, Marco over at Granite Taphouse knows what niche to fill. You can get a decent burger, excellent Parmesan and truffle salt fries, and a killer pizza (among others) until 2am. To say nothing of their exquisite beer and wine on tap. AND very attentive service. Another thing often lacking in Ashland....

Lovely place and friendly waitstaff. Main room too noisy for normal conversation, but the bar and anti-room are fine. Salads are unique, tasty and huge. All the food is well plated. Bar has several TVs all on sports for some reason.

I feel the name Granite "Taphouse" is misleading, as there were only five beers offered on tap. Shared what can only be described as a completely tasteless Caesar salad. Did they forget dressing? And there was no salt and pepper on any tables to add any flavor. Also shared the Fresca pizza, which was good, with a nice thin crust. Sadly though, I can only give this spot two stars. How hard is it to make a decent Caesar salad?

  • Brooke M.

It has the potential to be excellent, but right now I'd call it only fair. We ordered 2 pizzas - the original (blue cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, chicken, and champagne cream sauce) and the Mama Lill's (goat cheese, spicy mama Lill's peppers, roasted garlic). The crust made from 150 year old sourdough starter is delicious and very authentic. The problem is the extremely skimpy toppings, which leaves you with a lot of dry crust to contend with. We were folding ours in half to give the crust some flavor and moisture. If they would only add more toppings (especially toward the outside of the crust) I would call these excellent pizzas. I have spent quite a bit of time in Italy, and it IS possible to do simple and minimal toppings and not have it be dry.

Seriously overpriced and very slow service. Food was tasty but for $20/pizza at lunch with glacial service, the dollars-for-product ratio isn't there yet. I hope things improve because the place has promise.

Delicious food! Every time I look at the menu I'm at a lost as to what to order because there's so much I want to eat! My mom put it best when she said she wished it was a buffet so you'd get to try it all! But all the more reason to keep coming back, eh? My personal favorite so far are the bacon and jalapeño Mac and cheese, the bacon-fused burger, and the pizza! The last pizza I was the granite original - yum!!

Amazing burgers and excellent beer choices. I've gone there twice to catch a game and had a great time at the bar. Great quality big TV and good people to watch with. Go! You'll love it.

Sad times.

I just ate some of the best mac and cheese and had some of the best beers on tap. Also they have the best friendly staff in Ashland hands down. Thank u again for your kick ass work

Had the best gluten free bun for a burger I have ever had! (I have tried every brand under the sun being gluten intolerant and all) also great atmosphere and delicious food of all types! Gluten free pizza! Also a BIG yes in my book!!!

Huh? Say wha?

Five stars!

Huh? Say wha?

Five stars!
