If you've driven down Highway 66 you've likely driven by Club 66 Cafe and not given it a second glance. Located in the former home of the Good Times Cafe (and more recently Stillwater and Cebolla) Club 66 Cafe is nondescript but definitely worth a try. While they are currently running summer hours they plan to open back up for lunch in the fall. What they do: A couple of things... Food, VERY, VERY GOOD... Uzi (co-owner) runs the kitchen and with years of experience behind the lines of many of the areas eateries he puts out some tasty grub... My first visit was simple, a burger and fries. The burger was perfectly prepared and quite a bargain, $7.00 or so and included a HUGE side of very tasty fries. Garlic fries weren't on the menu Uzi came through and hooked me up, even on a diet I finished every last one. I dragged my mom along tonight for company and she (who is not a burger eater) had a mushroom swiss burger. She finished every bite and proclaimed it was about the best burger she'd had and would some back for another, she had a house salad as a side and loved every bite. Surely I'll be going back often to work my way through the extensive menu Uzi has compiled. I can't attest to the music portion, as an early bird I was on my way home before the band set up. According to Wendy (co-owner) they showcase bands of all genres that play original music. On the night of my visit they had a metal band slated to go on about 9:00. Both Wendy and Uzi have music backgrounds (Wendy in radio and Uzi is a musician themselves) so this is their passion. Why not 5 stars, simple Club 66 Cafe needs a make-over. But for that they'll need money. Help them out, stop by for a tasty burger or a Reuben (looks great), beer and possibly some live music. You won't be disappointed in the food or service. Can't wait to see what they can grow into.
