Great service and location. Tried the clam chowder, goddess salad, wild coho salmon with mango butter sauce, and surf & turf. The clam chowder and salmon were delicious. The others were mediocre. Prices were a bit high.

I love Ashland. So far, however, my emotions are ranging between ambivalence and pissed off regarding the restaurant scene. Beasy's brought out the bitch in me. Before I rant, I will share that it's a lovely spot, the service was excellent, and there were great selections on the wine list. It's the food...The over-priced, under-seasoned, small-sized food. We had a seafood cocktail as an appetizer. Small but tasty. Lump crab and prawns, an unusual amount of celery, tasty cocktail sauce. Mains: Chef/husband got the "snapper" special (it's actually rock fish here in the PNW) with crab meat and an Oscar sauce. When it came, I was astounded at the small portion (maybe 6 oz.) and the tiny amount of crab. When I found out the price, I practically flipped out.* The sauce was bland and watery, the fish overcooked. The side bowl of gumbo had huge chunks of celery, was lukewarm and lacked that rich, complicated roux taste one associates with good gumbo; very disappointing. My ribeye was cooked correctly (medium rare), but woefully under-seasoned. It was supposedly "all natural Painted Hills beef," and for $36, I expected it at least to taste like beef. It was flavorless. The au gratin potatoes were a lukewarm mess. Soupy mashed potatoes mixed with butter, cream, and cheese, with huge lumps of potato just kind of swimming around looking for a slicer. I've never seen mashed au gratin. I hope to never see it again. *The special was $28, which the server failed to share at the time. The husband, who's an EC for a living, said, "Do you know how much my last case of rock fish cost? $5.45 a pound. That means this chef is charging six times cost per serving, even being generous with the cost of the little bit of crab and sauce and sides that came with. I would have fairly charged $18." So yeah, no. Thanks for finally getting the service right, Ashland. Suck it for the pricey crap food.

Great food and service. Rob the chef was an excellent host and even comped some immaculate deserts. I am a conscientious eater but gluttony had its way with me that night. I ate till it hurt and now lament I hadn't ate more while I had the chance.

I've always wanted to try Lobster Thermador and there it was on the menu. It was wonderful! Exceeded my expectations. It was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. The flavor of the Lobster Thermidor left me speechless, the salad topped with crab was fresh, the Lobster Ravioli was delicate, the wait staff took excellent care of us, heaven!

The atmosphere, while not luxurious, exudes a sense that this is a "special treat" dining establishment, and a quick glance at the menu confirms this with a fiscal slap. The service was highly competent, if perhaps a little too efficient (dishes cleared away whilst still enjoying the last mouthful). My waiter was very helpful accommodating my non-dairy needs. I began with a pleasant if unimaginative salad, followed by a main course of what was supposed to be a special fresh Alaskan halibut with Dungeness crab. The halibut was quite delightful, accompanied by rice and spinach. The crab was MIA. Nowhere on the plate. Knowing that a well prepared fish should not languish too long on the plate, I enjoyed that half of the dish, accepting this slight disappointment in stride. The waiter, as she swiftly seized my plate during my final bite, advised me that there was nothing on the menu that met my "no heavy dairy" dietary restrictions. I therefore settled for a nice cup of herbal tea, and then noticed they had a lovely warmed brownie on the dessert menu that fit well within my acceptable parameters. Given that i was doing without the accompanying ice cream or whipped cream i was curious to see what the final bill might reflect and, good to see, the absence of the crab and ice cream were both reflected fairly in the tally. So a very tasty, albeit somewhat rushed, dining experience thankfully saved from becoming financially awkward. I would have liked to enjoy the crab, and a little judicious pacing in service would have been appreciated. Otherwise, another pleasant meal in an extremely hospitable and inviting city.

Wonderfully yummy food!! We got stuck in Ashland thanks to a closed pass and stayed at the hotel connected to the restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and quick with our food. They had a nice selection of wines to choose from. All entrees come with salad or gumbo. I had the top sirloin oscar style. I chose to have the Beasy's backroom salad. I'm still raving about the salad! The dressing was very tasty. The top sirloin was pretty normal.

The good: Mahi Mahi dinner was outstanding along with the tasty bread! The view (sitting outside) was beautiful and relaxing. The bad: Our waiter was terrible. I'm not sure if he was the pits or if they were short staff. It took 45 minutes to get a mushroom appetizzer! My friend ordered salad dressing on the side and it came drenched in the stuff. She was afraid to send it back fearing it would take another hour to get it right! The linguini and clams were tasteless and boring and there were several clam shells that didn't have clams in them! Unfortunately the bad outweighed the good so we will not be returning.

My wife and I just finished dinner here. Plusses: The service was friendly, prompt and efficient. The ambience on the deck two stories above the tree-lined creek was wonderful. Minuses: the food was ok but nothing special. I had the 5 oz. sirloin, the one listed on the menu as free-range and vegetable-fed. I was pleased that they offered an option for free-range beef and the garlic-peppercorn crust was tasty but the meat was kind of tough. My wife had the grain-fed 6-oz fillet mignon. She said it was acceptable but not that good. The potatoes au gratin were bland, the salad was too oily and soggy, but the broccoli was good and cooked just right. Definitely pricey for the quality of the food; you're paying for the ambience.

Ended up here after a series of Tuesday night denials -- Amuse had a sign up that said they served dinner on Tuesdays, but this was not so (this month anyway), and then when I walked up to Lark's I was told the kitchen closes at 8 (the hell?). The hostess at Lark's sent me here instead, and thankfully, it was pretty good. I had the stroganoff pasta -- I think it was a little more like a beef and mushroom stew with maybe some more tomato flavor than I'm used to in a stroganoff, but it was still good. They say they make it with the tips from their filet, ribeye, and New York steak, but most of the meat had disintegrated into the sauce instead of being discernible meat chunks -- but it was still pretty tasty, albeit rich, even though I didn't stir in the sour cream garnish. It comes on pappardelle pasta and I heart big pasta. The "pot de creme" I got at the end was more like a thick chocolate pudding served in a martini glass -- good stuff. Amuse was better, but you can't go there every night, so I'd put this on the list to go back next time I'm in town.

Not a good dining experience. My wife called well in advance for a reservation for an outdoor table and was assured that we could have an indoor table if it rained. Of course it rained and no indoor table was available and the hostess was kind of snotty with no apologies for their foulup. We sat outside under a canopy with a heater and I was ok with it but one of the older women in our party was cold and uncomfortable. As to the food, the hearts of romaine salad was mediocre, the filet mignon, NY sirloin and the halibut were excellent, but the au gratin potatoes were lumpy and cold. Overall this restaurant was overpriced and unprofessional, with young undertrained serving staff. We have been coming to Ashland annually for many years for the Shakespeare Festival, but will cross this restaurant off our list.

I had dinner with friends I was visiting in Ashland at Beasy's. It was my second time there (the first time was many years ago). We sat at at a table near a window with a view of the deck and outdoor seating. I think the place is lovely. I enjoy the decor. The menu looked really good to me. I finally decided on the Backroom salad and Beef Stroganoff. We had brought our own bottles of wine. The salad was tasty but WAY too much dressing, making it quite soggy. But the beef dish was really good. In fact, all 3 of us ordered the same meal. My friends eat there frequently and think the food is great. I definitely look forward to eating there again next time I'm in Ashland.

I love this restaurant as it was so warm and inviting on a cold spring night ; sitting across from the fireplace and gazing out over the woods. The food is great. too.....steak, potatoes, fresh veggies and their signature salad. We ate here two nights in a row. On night two my cousins meal was not quite to her liking so she sent it back. Our server was just lovely about it, and even took it off the bill. Will definitely visit again, and oh, don't miss out on a chocolate sundae for dessert.

The menu looked appetizing. We had walked past this restaurant many times and the ambiance also looked very inviting. With high hopes, my husband and I made reservations and prepared to enjoy a nice dinner. When we arrived and gave our name for the reservation, it transpired that whoever took the reservation, didn't have the time or inclination to write it down. This after, my husband had reconfirmed the reservation the night before! Luckily, the restaurant was completely empty so we were seated. After about five minutes, I flagged a server who was behind the bar. She assured me that someone would wait on us. I guess the servers decided to draw straws because I could hear an argument about who was going to be the "lucky" one to wait on our table. The one who drew the short straw finally approached with menus. To be fair, there were four or five tables outside that had other diners. We ordered dinner. The caprese salad was excellent as were the steamed clams. The Green Goddess salad consisted of strips of rather wilted lettuce with a tasteless dressing. I've never before seen a salad that consisted of ONLY lettuce! Too bad that the meal did not live up to the appetizers. My prawns were over cooked and tasteless. The fettuccine that came with the prawns was equally tasteless with a few strands of cheese on top. My husband's order of angel hair with clams was so so, although the clams were wonderful The restaurant hypes its "inca, inca" sauce. We decided to try it, it was tasteless and awful. To top the experience, we had a new server every ten minutes, as if no-one could decide if they truly wanted to wait on us. We finally decided to treat the experience as if we were on "Candid Camera", as a joke.

I've been eating at Beasy's restaurants since I started coming to Ashland in the mid 70s. The original was Beasy's Back Room and it was there I fell in love w/ his signature salad, one of the two all-time favorite salads of my life. The other was Larry Blake's in the 60s, when I was in college. That salad is long gone, but Beasy's is still available. The Back Room closed years ago and I miss its cowboy motif w/ barbed wire and old West photos. This incarnation is much more upscale w/ its windowed dining room and veranda w/ their views of the valley but they still serve my favorite salad. If you ask they will give you refills of it, just as they used to in the old Back Room. They make a good dry martini and the food is always good.

I have been to this place 6 times in the last 10 years and remember it being better! I had the rib eye steak which was cooked well, was a good size, but was oversalted and seemed overpriced at about $36. The extra mushrooms I ordered were not good and very few. The accompanied potato seemed tasteless and covered in cheddar cheese. The other guests in my party were satisfied with their dinners but no one raved about the food. I was also displeased with the liquor and wine. My margarita was all mix with a splash of tequila, I think the worst I've had anywhere. And when I asked why the wine glass didn't have wine in it I was told they pour "5 oz. pours", which i just promptly refused and returned. The ambiance is quite nice, though the views off the deck used to be better before the trees and other buildings grew. The server was quite nice too. I won't be returning, there are too many other restaurants in Ashland worth trying first.

Still haven't gotten the chocolate mouse. It's hard when you stuff yourself full of Chicken with Inca Inca Sauce. Awesome green goddess salad too. Wish they would fix the front door. It gets slammed all through the evening and drives my husband crazy. A simple strip of rubber, that's all he kept saying.

We went here to have a relatively quiet, nice place to eat dinner with a friend we hadn't seen in a while. On that score we were satisfied; the atmosphere was just what we wanted. The food, on the other hand... My wife started with the Beasy's "Back Room" salad which comes with this extremely tasty dressing redolent of the taste of green olive. The problem was the salad was literally swimming in the dressing. Overdressed doesn't even begin to describe it, which is a pity, because the taste of the dressing was superb. She then had the lobster ravioli which was the one real success - actual lobster, not just ravioli that a lobster had swum nearby, and a very tasty, and very rich, lemony sauce. I started with the hearts of romaine salad which was ok, nothing special, and then, because my stomach was a bit on edge, decided to go with the beef stroganoff. Which was grossly misnamed, because the amount of actual "beef" in it would have filled about one fork's worth. More prevalent were button mushrooms, which should have been sliced (IMHO). The sauce was ok but certainly nothing to write home about. Topping things off (or bottoming them out), my glass of red wine had significant sediment in the bottom. All in all, a pleasant place to eat, I suppose, if you happened to make the right choices, but we won't be back.

One of my favorites in Ashland. I love the lobster ravioli ( smooth lemon sauce with tender lobster...sooo good) and the brownie (warm fudgey brownies with caramel and chocolate sauce served with whipped cream) To die for!. The bread is also fantastic!

My husband and I dined at Beasy's in an effort to try a "new" (for us) white tablecloth restaurant in Ashland - we find ourselves there 2-3 times a year as we drive from CA to Seattle. We love Lark's, have been disappointed in Chateaulin, love Biazzi, etc. The upside is: food was high quality, perfectly prepared, and the ambience is very pleasant. Wine list is good, varied, and you can find a decently priced bottle if you know your way around a wine list. The downside: We are in our early sixties, and we were the youngest people in the place, I think. It was full of grey heads and people in their 70's and 80's. I don't know which came first, the chicken or the egg, but I found the menu very unimaginative. I am sure most of the clientele just love it. There were several different steaks available, salmon, halibut, maybe a pasta dish. But no rack of lamb, no duck breast, the only thing that caught my eye was crab cakes, and the kitchen is just adding one to the appetizer portion to make it an entree. For a special occasion-type of resto, the menu just seemed tired to me. So, we ordered steaks (there are a great many sauces to choose among to accompany the steaks). They were perfectly cooked, the sauces were delicious. They were served with bare-naked steamed broccoli (but perfectly steamed) and some scalloped potatoes. Yawn. I had a green goddess salad (crisp, nice, too much garlic) and my husband had a house salad. Our server was very busy, but was pleasant and did her best. She couldn't pronounce some of the menu items (beurre blanc comes to mind) and knew nothing about the wine list. Fortunately, we do. BUT, we dine out at nice places, we expect our servers to be top-notch and we, frankly, expect more interesting food choices. Our tab before tip was $125. ( we ordered the Roxyann Claret, a local wine and an excellent bargain....) What they have is nicely done; I wish I had gone to Larks for a little hipper food and with greater age diversity in its clientele.

Went here tonight. Setting nice, food ok, service poor. They messed up our order and when asked if they might comp us a dessert they brought after everyone else had finished (and that only after we chased down a server) they declined. Whatever. It's not a capital offense but it shows a lack of concern for customers who just bought a big meal for 6 with drinks, wine, etc that they'd rather send us off angry than comp us one dessert. Their choice. Mine is to spend my dining dollars in Ashland's many more considerate dining establishments.

After living in Ashland for 7 years, my wife and I have gone to Beasy's on the Creek precisely once. It wasn't so much the food as the entire package that put us off. The waiters were OK, but quite young (probably all SOU students), which didn't translate into a very professional or friendly presentation. The food was good, but the place did not strike us as being very child friendly, so we have not returned with our children. There are better places to eat in Ashland, perhaps more tucked away, so we'll leave this place for the touristas.

What a wonderful place! Himself and I sat out on the deck overlooking the creek surrounded by whispering birches and the mountainous backdrop. Ordered a filet mignon (medium rare) which I could cut with a fork, followed by a chocolate mousse (not quite as good as Miette's pot au chocolat, but nearly as good) served in a martini glass. Himself had the New York steak (well done) with creme caramel for dessert. A couple of glasses of pinot, perfect service, perfect weather...what more can a girl ask?

We love it at Beasy's - one of our favorite restaurants in Ashland. Not very kid-friendly, but we've taken our kids there before. Throughout the slow winter months (usually March and April) they have a weekday special with $12 entrees and $2 or $3 salads, appetizers and desserts (not sure about that - you'll have to check with the restaurant). Steaks are always cooked perfectly and served with the freshest broccoli I've ever tasted and really amazing potatoes au gratin, and the Green Goddess salad is our absolute favorite salad. Their gumbo is always very good. But their best offering is anything with the Inca Inca sauce. The salmon, chicken or shrimp doused in that green stuff is so tasty! The lobster ravioli in lemon sauce is also very good, although very rich, and my kids like the ravioli rosa. For dessert, we recommend the brownie or the creme brulee when they have it. And their crab cakes are pretty good too. It's thinner than most crab cakes, but that's because there's not a lot of bread to fluff it up. It's served in a spicy sauce which we like to soak up with the soft white bread. Also, their caprese salad is pretty good too, which is served with a dollop of pesto. During the summer they offer outdoor seating overlooking the creek, which is always a treat. But bring a jacket, even during the hot summer months - it can get quite chilly at night. Highly recommend Beasy's to all of our out-of-town guests!

We tried Beasy's for the first time last week and we were disappointed. The staff seemed disorganized and service suffered accordingly. My steak entre was luke warm and my wife's fish was overcooked. I asked for the desert menu which took them a long time to deliver and then they were slow in following up. Ended up having to ask for the check as we were going to a show that night.

Unlike other Yelpers, we got outstanding service here. The server ushered my elderly mother to a seat near the fireplace (how did she knows that in my mother's house 80 degrees is just right?), and humored my father's corny jokes. Beasy's gets two stars just for her. The food, however, ranged from adequate to hideous. We enjoyed the salad with the tangy Green Goddess dressing, but the bread had the soft texture of a packaged loaf. My parents liked their pasta dishes. I, however, made the mistake of ordering the grilled chicken with red pepper cream sauce and au gratin potatoes. Sounds delicious, doesn't it? What I got was a bleached, boneless chicken breast with faint grill marks. It's impossible to grill meat that thick without giving it some color, so I can only guess that the chicken was boiled or microwaved before "grilling." The red sauce was plopped on top. The au gratin potatoes were pretty much mashed potatoes with congealed cheddar cheese on top. And the steamed broccoli seemed like it would be more comfortable in a hospital cafeteria. (Actually, the food at my hospital is better than what I had at Beasy's.) I ate about a third of my dinner and pushed away the plate, too grossed out to continue. The only thing above-average about our meal was the homemade cheesecake. Despite its charm and location, Beasy's suffers from tourist-town syndrome: It's got a fresh supply of new customers every season and its location is so beautiful it doesn't have to try hard. Too bad, because if the food were decent the locals might eat there too.

Best top sirlion steak we have ever tasted better then most filets. The seasoning is great then grilled to perfection, served with yummy cheesey potatoes and steamed broccoli. You can tell they are picky only the best quality meat is served, grilled to perfection. Other favirite dishes, lobster ravoli to die for. Chicken and shrimp. My favorite sauce is their Inca Inca sauce yummy. Wish they would bottle and sell it. My husband loves their Gorzonola horseradish sauce or Crab Oscar topper. Great service wonderful atmosphere very enjoyble dinner. Highly reccomend.

Really excellent food served in a beautiful setting. I had the Salmon, which came with Rice, Brocoli and choice of salad or soup. My guest had the special, which was Halibut served with lump crab meat. Our server was attentive, helpful and very pleasant. The food was cooked perfectly, and the proximity to the river makes for a rather enchanting evening.

Just had dinner with my family here last weekend, by the creek. It was really really good. The food is fresh and solid. My Dad and I had the Copper River Salmon, which was super fresh and delish. Our other table mates had a steak and the halibut. Everyone cleaned their plate and declared everything excellent. The setting by the creek was sublime and our server Mychal was great. Thanks so much, Beasys! We will be back!!

This is a "mixed" review ~ on 7/18, my partner & I ate @ Beasy's, outside on their tremendous deck. The service was quite poor, with the bartender waiting tables & waiting on outside tables, a blonde was training someone new (which she used as an excuse for not giving us bread) and a couple of others working the 2 occupied tables inside. I ordered the Ravioli Rosa with Shrimp $21.00. I would guess that the ravioli came from Costco and the sauce could have been thickened Campbell's tomato soup, the shrimp was nicely grilled. My partner ordered Ravioli with lobster $24 "incomparable lemon sauce". It was wonderful! We both could have eaten that all day!

Two of us came by for dinner after the theater crowds had gone off to make their curtains. We each ordered the secret local special and shared a bottle of the RoxyAnn claret, a meritage wine made with 32% Grenache, 25% Mouvedre, 17% Syrah, 15% Merlot, 10% Malbec, 2% Cinsault. The claret was "just OK," but I liked my chowder (chock full of clams, no potatoes), steak and side vegetables. The restaurant is beautiful inside. We sat outdoors and had a ringside view of the creek. Service with a smile. I don't know if you can do better than this in Ashland, but I'm confident that you can do a lot worse.

My wife and I were on our honeymoon when we ate at Beasy's; before that, we watched the "Much Ado About Nothing" play at the Shakespeare Festival. Beasy's has a beautiful building with a wonderful atmosphere. As soon as we entered, the waitresses acknowledged us and helped us to our booth. Throughout our whole visit, we received excellent service and got regular water refills when we needed them. Our waitress was awesome. My wife and I shared everything we got. First, we ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer. It was absolutely delicious: zesty, spicy, and a bit of sweetness. Next came the Beasy's "BackRoom" salad, which (from what I can remember) had iceberg lettuce, (possibly Romaine), tomatoes, and green olives. The dressing was olive oil and vinegar, with a bit of pepper. It was quite possibly the best salad I'd ever had. The waitress also offered fresh pepper to sprinkle over it. The salad was complemented with some bread and butter. Since it was late and we had to travel and hour afterward, we ordered some coffee, which was quite excellent. For an entree, we shared the Tuscan Crusted Grilled Chicken pasta. They even offered to split it into two separate plates, which was very kind of them and convenient for us. Served in olive oil, vinegar, garlic, and with red pepper flakes, the angel hair pasta and spinach was delicious by itself. It had a nice buttery but spicy taste. The chicken added so much flavor and made it out-of-this-world awesome. Even though we shared it, it felt like plenty. Finally, we finished with the Decadent Chocolate Brownie. Not only was it a generous portion of epic brownie goodness, it was topped with chocolate and caramel syrup and pecans. On the side, it had whipped cream and vanilla bean ice cream. One of the best desserts I've ever had. Beasy's is a must I've you either live in Ashland or are just stopping by. Perfect for any special occasion. Again, stellar service.

We had dinner which was "pretty" food. It's expensive but nice. The food was good but not excellent. The pricing is on the high end. Wait staff excellent. Just kind of overpriced for what you get

We recently ate here as a group in early July. While the ambiance was nice and the service was decent, we just didn't feel the food lived up to it's prices. The bruschetta was some of the best we've ever had. Outdoor seating offers a nice view with the sound of the creek running below.

My daughter & I went to Beasy's to celebrate our Birthdays in October. I have to say that the restaurant was very nice, the service good, but don't order the Crab Cakes!! We started with the Scallop appetizer. Delicious! Then my daughter order the Crab Cakes as an entree & I had the Halibut. The Crab Cakes were burnt the first time around. The waitress replaced them. Second time around they were under cooked and greasy. I expected them to take the "cakes" off of our bill,but they just charged us the appetizer price. We won't be returning.
