Personally, I find that almost all the food here tastes gross... I don't know if it's a smell in their refrigerated food display or in the microwave, but UGH. I stick to coffee -- luckily for The Beanery, they roast Allan Bros coffee and it's absolutely DELICIOUS :)

Great coffee and more food than you would expect. Really nice shaded patio.

Amazing coffee, gluten-free bagels, yummy food, and the best mexican hot chocolate mocha with eggnog I've ever tasted!

A pretty average coffee shop. I had their mocha and a cherry granola scone. The mocha was a little too chocolatey for my taste and the scone seemed kind of stale. The atmosphere is a little run-down, but fairly open. They have free wifi with a 2 hour limit. Not bad, but not my favorite coffee shop.

Our first visit to the Beanery was....ok, but nothing to write home about. We tried the Phoenix and Turtle coffee blend and it seemed a bit on the weak side with a definite watery undertone. We also went with the maple/pecan and cranberry/orange scones, both of which were on the dry side, which made them taste as though they weren't fresh. On the bright side, the staff was exceptionally friendly. We will probably give the place another shot and try other drinking and snacking options, but without some improvement in both, our search for a decent coffee shop will continue.

Great service, and an awesome cold brew. I was looking for wifi and they have it but you have to ask for the pass code. Seems to run about 7mb down and 1.5up with 15 ping. Seething is not the most comfortable and plugs are limited as is the parking but not too busy. 4 stars

Came in yesterday morning before a long drive home to the Bay Area for breakfast. I didn't get a coffee but the breakfast burrito I ordered was splendid. Grilled to perfection and served with tortilla chips, sour cream and salsa. The girls working were really sweet and the place was super clean. I wish we had a spot like this one at home ... I'd be there all the time, and probably really overweight. If I'm ever in Ashland again, I'll definitely make this place my go-to breakfast place.

I've lived in Ashland for 5 years and this past weekend was my first time at The Beanery. Mocha is my drink of choice anywhere I go so I asked the Barista what would be the best Mocha to try. "The Mexican Mocha" It did not disappoint. I've been there every morning since.

I stopped by The Beanery on my way out of town for a quick bite and a coffee, and was genuinely impressed by the friendliness of the two girls working, and how incredible the breakfast burrito was! I had a Monterey Breakfast Burrito, and not only do they heat it up, but it's also grilled so it has a nice crispy outer shell to it. Loaded with cheese, eggs, peppers and mushrooms, I couldn't have been happier. Also, brownie points for the chips, salsa and sour cream. If I lived in Ashland, I would visit this spot at least once a week. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Enjoyed our prior many stops, i.e. the staff, service, etc, until our visit on May 20, 2015 when we were enjoying coffee with friends who had driven down from Washington (we were visiting, as we often do, from southern California) when the most rude man walked in (about 11am), stated he was from the corporate offices of Allannn Brothers and proceeded to"throw out" the staff and customers, stating that corporate had decided to suddenly close the Beanery NOW. Allann Brothers corporate office should learn manners and good business practices from the fired staff and other employes and customers of other Allann Brothers businesses should beware of any unannounced visit from headquarters. It takes years to build good-will and only a few minutes to destroy it.

Stopped in last week to get coffee on our way out of town. I love local coffee places and was looking forward to it. Walked in at 6:40, the sign says they close at 7pm. They already had the place cleaned up to close and were packing up. I asked about getting a couple mochas and was told they stop serving espresso drinks at 6:45. This was confusing and frustrating because one, they say open til seven, and two, it was 6:40 exactly. I asked why the sign says 7pm and she said "hey, I can get you drip coffee but that's it". Ok then, won't be coming back here. Bad business practice to have your employees close up shop before the posted hours.

Great coffee, great service! I stopped by on a morning walk on my vacation to the Ashland Film Festival and was very pleasantly surprised! If you're not looking to deal with the hassle of the more crowded coffee shops like Mix or Noble, this is a wonderful place!

This place has a lot if potential: coffee is good, nice porch area, some good baked goods , wifi and TWO restrooms My only qualm is the layout and comfort of the chairs For some reason, all of the places I chose to sit were not quite right . One table was wobbly , the tall stool chairs were not my style and some if the other chairs were too hard or the tables too high There are too nice comfy chairs in the corner but they share an end table and are too close together unless you know the other person Might be nice to have a couch and /or a big community table

My wife and i thought we would try this place after spending a week in Ashland. We tried a number of coffee shops in and around the area. This was by far the worst. Ashland is a quaint College Town and The Beanery is close to a lot of the College Housing. It is the perfect coffee shop for pretentious college students that really do not know anything about coffee. Overall it was borderline disgusting. My wife and i ordered 2 different coffee's and a snack. The snack was bland but edible. My coffee was thrown away after we both tasted it and could not stomach it. My wife made it half way through her cup before we decided to head to the closest Starbucks.

Best chai in Ashland. Service is iffy at times. Food is pretty great :). I come just for the chai. Wifi to study if you choose.

Not sure why this place gets good ratings. Walked in and the overwhelming smell was not of coffee, but urine. Not joking. Perhaps they haven't cleaned the toilets in awhile. Tried to get advice on one of the dozens of selections of loose teas and neither server knew anything about the teas and could not make recommendations. Lastly, the Wi-Fi is free because it's sllllloooooooooooooowwwwww. Think 56K modem slow.

The Beanery is an Oregon institution. Cold day? They have plenty of drink options that will warm you up (I love their hot chocolate and vanilla steamers). On a warm day, grab an iced tea or coffee and people-watch from the outside patio. For a real indulgence, ask for an espresso shake...to die for. There's a variety of foods, too, from pastries to lunch items. What I like most is the atmosphere. Its relaxed and laid back attitude is a nice change of pace from a chain coffee shop. The staff are mostly students and they must be trained in customer service because they are so nice. The Beanery's proximity to campus is nice for SOU students; it's also a great place to go before or after a movie at the Ashland Street Cinemas.

This is probably the best coffee shop in Ashland in terms of overall quality and "hang-out-ability". The coffee is delicious, the service is friendly, and the food selection is much larger than most of the other coffee shops. I had a piece of quiche - yummy! And it unexpectedly came with bread and butter. For drinks, I highly recommend the Matcha green tea freeze. The place itself is absolutely perfect for working/studying/hanging out with friends. There are plenty of tables and electrical outlets. There are also TWO whole bathrooms, which is really important at a coffee shop, if you catch my drift. If I am in Ashland again, I'll definitely stop in here to work on my laptop.

I like this place, not my absolute favorite in Ashland, but it is a great place to meet up with people and have in depth discussions about seemingly innocuous subjects (that might just change the world) enough to make the likes of Neitzche and Marx dizzy. I did enjoy my peppermint latte this morning, it was the perfect mind perk. My girlfriend also raved about her decaf crem brulee latte. Go here for your next cuppa Joe!

Extremely impressive food choices and a great value for those on a budget, but uncomfortable furniture and burnt cooking oil odors in the air marred the overall experience. The food display is rather stunning. They've got a variety of pies, quiches, coffee cakes, and scones, and I think they also have a hot food menu too. For just over $2, I got the cherry yogurt coffee cake, which came with a free 12oz drink. That's value you can't find at any other cafe in Ashland. It was strangely chewy, but tasty! There were more deals on some of the other food items as well, a couple were 50 cents off, one was $1 off, and some others also came with a free drink. Somehow I missed the pies among the cornucopia until after I had finished the coffee cake. Drat! After turning my attention away from the food, I noticed...well, it's as if all focus and energy in this place went into the food display, leaving the poor decor neglected and unloved. Small blonde hardwood chairs (emphasis on hard) with uneven food court-like tables. White or slate-ish linoleum flooring, drabby-looking blue walls. Fluorescent lighting. The one table left near an outlet was near the entrances next to the drinks cooler, and it, like all the other tables, sat askew. And while the hard, hard chair may have been level with the floor, I suspect the floor might not have been level. Because after sitting on that small hard chair with my laptop crooked for a couple of hours, my body didn't feel particularly good. Moreover, after sitting for 15-30 mins, the smell of burnt cooking oil wafted over. I would have left right there and then, but I had a deadline in a couple of hours and I couldn't waste time going somewhere else. When I bussed my table and walked over to the other half of the place, the smell of burnt cooking oil disappeared, so I think half the cafe was okay. The grill was open towards where I had been sitting but was sealed off by a wall from the other side of the cafe. I came home smelling like coffee and burnt oil, which was not a pleasant pairing. I would go back to pick up food--especially pie--and coffee, but I wouldn't stay to hang out.

This shop near the college is a comfy and warm gathering place. Steaming joe is served in large mugs. Pastries and light lunch fare fill the display cases. My favorite? The Ginger scones are light and slightly spicy - a good way to kick off the day. Small chunks of candied ginger dot this treat. Yum! For lunch try a bean and cheese burrito. Warmed and served with sour cream and salsa, these small packages pack a large punch! The beans are good and they always have just the right amount of cheese.

I love hanging out at the Beanery. Good coffee drinks and a variety of sweet and savory food. I often go there to work on my novel. The staff is friendly and down to earth.

Everything you need. This is the only place I found in Ashland that opens before 7. Good Cappuccino, friendly people and very comfy chairs. It's just scruffy enough to let you know it's not a chain store, but clean and nice.
