Good spot to eat when in town. Staff is nice and they are very efficient. They have some awesome salsas and a good lunch crowd.

Well I got the shredded steak chimichanga and a couple pork tacos. Chimichanga was ok under seasoned though. But the pork tacos with cheese were great. So I'll go back again to give them a second go. Fast to go service!

We were acknolaged by the waitress as we came in and there were warm chips waiting on our table as we got to it. The food came quickly and was excellant. Actually two meals worth. A great place for a downtown meal. At two Rivers Mall.

The chips and salsa were FANTASTIC. Thick, crunchy chips with absolutely delicious salsa. I only give three stars because the vegetarian burrito was nothing special. The tortilla was gooey and tasteless (I prefer wheat tortillas for the fuller taste and texture). The beans and guac did not stand out. It just tasted alright.

We've lived in west Albany for 8 years and just discovered this place. They are in two rivers market. The very best Mexican food we have ever eaten. Home made thick tortilla chips and 2 varieties salsa fresh daily.. Lots of diced fresh tomatoes and super flavor. Sent a tip back to the cook, he knows his Mexican food! The customer service is also tops! We don't write many reviews but this one deserves a five star for sure. Matt and Sandy

The food is awesome and the atmosphere is good. I thought the prices were a little on the expensive side but it was still a great visit.

Lady tried telling my husband that I wouldn't want menudo because Americans don't eat things like tripe. Very inappropriate and uncalled for!

Great food, good prices, friendly staff. Did I mention HUGE burritos! I wish they would stay open a bit later, that's the only negative thing I can think of.

This place was just alright to me. Pretty mediocre. I ordered a chili rellenos which came with a side of rice and beans, and ordered an al pastor taco on the side as well. In total, I spent around $11 or so which seemed kind of high for the amount and quality of the food that I was served. The pepper, while deep fried, tasted very soft and doughy. It was not crisp at all. It was hard to cut and the cheese on the inside was very watered down by the pepper. This item was hard to eat. The al pastor taco was alright. The meat was all minced up and did not have much flavor to it. While the taco was good, I have definitely had better. I would personally rather go to the Rigoberto's near by. Not a huge fan of Taqueria Alonzo. I had good service here but overall the food quality was not satisfying for me and I know I can find better Mexican food.

Kind of A mix review. Tacos are still very good and huge .Service was fast but bad for the first time here. Once we ordered and were severed, never came back to ask if everything was okay, would we like anything else. And the restaurant was desocupado. Prices are up on a lot of items. The rice and bean and chips portions are way smaller. Was not over charged, but no receipt again. Time to try another Mexican restaurant in Albany.

You must go and just order the street tacos they are fabulous. We go at lunch and order 3 each and then order a plate of rice and beans to share. It is the best!!! The salsa is great and has wonderful flavor. The service is good and the quantity will always fill you up. I hope it's not un- PC to say that I love ordering my Mexican food from people who speak Spanish. It seems to add to the real ness of the food and speaks to it's authentic ness. Everyone there is pleasant and hard working !! Love supporting shops like this

I judge mexican food on their tacos, salsas, juices and flan. I eat here when I am looking for something easy and quick. I go perhaps 20 times a year. This place screams FRESH! This place rocks it out. They are fast, clean, flavorful, with a huge menu. There are specials on the weekend like octopus cocktail, etc. But the tacos are great. I recommend the carnitas. Simple little taco on a double corn tortilla, fried port and with fresh pico de gallo on top, just like you would get south of the border, I have lived there. They always start with chips and salsa for everyone with fresh salsa. Chips are warm and crisp. Authentic. Friends give the burritos a thumbs up. THey are big. The flan is made by them and yummy. They usually have orchata and hibiscus juice. Also a good selection of Jarritos sodas and mexican beers. The dining room is big and setup for groups. They do take out and I have ordered for groups as large as 20 for takeout. They sent me home with a whole flan in their pan which I later returned. They are chill like that. Waiter service only at night. Cheap pricing.

My brother visiting from Austin Texas was in the mood for great Mexican food... So of course I took him to the best, Taqueria Alonzo. Even on a dark, drizzly day on a Monday in Albany, this place was busy! We still got great service, hot, fast and very fresh food. Their chips are so yummy and crunchy. Love them! My brother ordered a Chimichanga and ate every last bite, which is pretty amazing considering how humongous it was. We got a lot for the money and I read about the great happy hour too! 4pm - 6pm every day discounted drinks.

Get the pork taco plate, even Anthony Bourdain would fantasize about them. The meat is crispy, favorful and filling...not to mention cheap!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
