What can i say about Pop's that hasn't been said here on Yelp. It's a 24 hour "greasy spoon" diner, it's a freeway truck stop without a freeway or trucks. Some of the waitresses here have a lot of mileage on them (and could probably beat your ass) Nacho's and salads are HUGE, and the breakfast is above average. The service can be hit and miss (not you Robin), just like most of their customers. Cheaper than Shari's and better than Denny's. If you are a breakfast aficionado, then try The Original Breakfast just off of I-5, if you wanna eat and hang out, it Pop's baby! I docked them a star cause their "free wi-fi" is terrible. Just closing your eyes and wishing you had wi-fi works better.

Over the last 8 years I have continually tried to like this place but it is just attrocious. The food is okay for what it is, but one would still get better quality at a Dennys or the like. The worst part is the service. I've had a couple decent waitresses for the breakfast shift but they are the exception. The rule is lethargic, disheveled women who avoid the customers and mess up orders. I've tried tipping heavy, being overly kind and nothing works. The last time I was in, I waited fifteen minutes for service and then walked out. Avoid this place at all costs, there is nothing unique about the droll, greasy food that justifies the poor service.

Well, I've been to Pop's Branding Iron twice now. I'd love to give them a five-star rating - because both times my food has been exactly what I expected: greasy, homeade, filling, and tasty. And cheap. However, the service is just slooooow. They need about two more servers in there. We sat at the counter to eat, and watched food just sit in the window for 3... 4... 5.. minutes before it was picked up to be delivered to the hungry customers. Milkshake was good - however, apparently they have a rule that you don't get the excess milkshake that doesn't fit in the sundae glass. What a waste! We asked for ours and the waitress told us it was against policy to let anyone have it. But she gave it to us anyways. It was a whole 2nd glass of milkshake. How wasteful to throw it out! Overall... Good enough. It had awesome french fries. They serve a burger with diced chiles on it. In the end, I'd recommend Pop's.

As a previous long time Albany resident Pop's has always been high on my radar when it comes to rib stickin', greasy, awesome, homestyle food. I've frequented this place more times than I can count and never leave unhappy. It even used to be my late night post-bar "drunk munchie" place. I still even make it a point to stop in each time im in town visiting. My most favorite thing? Biscuits with sausage gravy and an over medium egg slapped on top. This is one of those meals for me that just makes me feel good LOL It's comforting and delicious and never disappointing. The helpings in any of their meals are always more than I can ever finish and are big enough to feed even the hungriest of men. Yes at times the service can be questionable but all in all I love this place. Always have, always will. So as long as they keep up on the good grub i'll be back time and time again.

Great portions, excellent prices, greater customer service! Excellent for late-night bouts of hunger :)

This is basically a privately owned Denny's type establishment. No frills breakfast and lunch style stuff. If you come late at night, you can visit the attached bar/lottery and score as much Meth as your heart desires. The abundance of tweakers is out of control so come prepared, remove all items of value from your car, and lock it up before going in.

It was nice to find a place open 24/7 that was not a Denny's. I thought the food was just okay. It falls under typical diner fare. The omelettes were big but nothing special and the hash browns were run of the mill. The rest of my party of six all agreed that the food quality was the same from dish to dish, not bad but nothing great. Our server was a very sweet woman. I liked her a lot and she handled our large party with ease (having two demanding children among us). I appreciated her polite patience.

I'm a fan. Having grown up in good old Albany, I have spent more than my fair share of time at Pop's, especially late at night after the bars closed. The food is good, I always loved their hash browns, but what I loved the most was their Monte Cristo and fries. I haven't been back to Albany in years, but you bet I would plan a side stop to Pop's once I make it back.

On the road one day, we were hankering for a good burger. I did a quick Google on the old iPhone and found an article from the local paper, not too old, that had the top 3 burger picks in the area. Pop's sounded like a good call. T'was a hot day and we didn't want to leave the pups in the truck, so I went in solo to pick up a take out order. As has been said before, the decor is western so outdated it's almost hip again. Note I said almost. I bellied up to the counter, and was quickly tended to by a waitress who was friendly enough... but her hair was pulled back so tight it made ME hurt, and she wore enough black eyeliner to paint a car. (Doesn't she have a friend who can gently take her aside and say, "Um, dear... if you put so much kohl on the upper and lower lids of your eyes that it balls up in the corner of your eye... it's too much.") But no worries... things SMELLED good. Good and greasy. I flipped open the take-out menu (a shrunken down version of their full menu, easily pocketable). I chose a Logger Sized Mushroom burger because I was sharing it with my husband who was in the car with the pups. After a brief wait, I had my big styrofoam box in hand and was headed to the car. It LOOKED good, and smelled good too. And to be fair, the sandwich was exactly as stated: Served with lettuce, tomato, lots of mushrooms and a dab of sour cream. I had just assumed that the shrooms might have some kind of sauce with them. But, no, they were cold canned mushrooms tossed on top of two large beef patties. No worries. We love mushrooms. Tasting the burger though... it was bland. The meat had almost no taste to it at all. It wasn't the best quality meat, either; instead of a good texture it had some gristle in it, even. A hamburger! And we both agreed... beyond that, it tasted a little... off. After two bites each, the rest went to the dogs. Who were VERY happy, let me tell you. Shortly afterwards, we both had a very unusual bout of stomach upset. The only thing common we'd eaten that day was the burger. I hate to be so harsh from only one exposure, but we won't be back to Pop's! To be fair, there's a large variety in the menu, including tons of sandwiches. And I bet they make a killer breakfast...

Went back to Pop's recently with a few friends. Their menu doesn't list what flavors they have of milkshakes, simply saying to ask the waitress. So I did and the response was 'I don't know. Ask and I'll tell you if we have it', which seems like a not-great-answer. She just seemed in general pretty rushed and frazzled. The food was also subpar in general. No one enjoyed the meal that they got and pretty much everyone felt ripped off (especially considering some of the food appeared to have been bought from CostCo, according to one of the people eating with us)

What a great lunch. It was my second time to stop by Pop's and had a terrific very late lunch. I asked what the best salad was and was told it was the teriyaki chicken salad in an absolutely huge taco shell. Lots of chicken, fresh greens and lots of good stuff. The service was very prompt... nice folks and family owned comfortable environment.

This weekend, 7/3/2012, I was in my hometown for my 30 year high school reunion (Yeah South) and I came down from Seattle and wanted to have brunch. My hometown isn't know for it's brunch places, but I remembered about Pop's Branding Iron. I met a friend there for breakfast. I had the chicken fried steak, and it was great. The waitress was fun, and the atmosphere was great. I had a greyhound with my breakfast and it was nice and strong. I recommend going here if you want t good hardy breakfast, with out breaking your wallet. They are open 24 hours, so you can head there after the bars also.

We've been here three times in the past two years, and every single time they have completely screwed up something (if not everything) on my order. Everyone else gets just what they order just how they order it, however... I actually gave up the third visit and left without eating a bite after their two attempts to 'fix' my food just got progressively worse. Now you're probably thinking 'oooh she must be really picky', but I'm not. Really. I do like my food hot, not burned, seasoned, etc, but none of those things have ever happened at this joint. On two of the three visits, the rest of our group were served and halfway finished eating before they remembered to bring my order to the table. Sesriously! Yes, they're open 24 hrs, but if you stop in late, expect to be ignored as the servers are busy partying and laughing with each other and ignoring the customers. And if you want a refill of the barely drinkable coffee, I suggest you get up and get it yourself.

Nothing but good memories of this place! Did lots of late night exam sessions here, love the real wood burning fireplace and waitresses that don't pester you, but keep the coffee coming :)

Pop's Branding Iron is the perfect place to go if you are in Albany Oregon. It has the best friendlist staff, and it is open 24/7. This place is amazing and the waitress are great, and you always get prompt service with a smile. They are great with huge groups as well. They have a back room that they open up just for large groups, they do this all the time with groups. The food is always hot and great, and it is old fashioned. The milkshakes are so thick and delicious as well. They serve a wide variety of food. Large old fashion like hamburgers, french fries, and nachos, steak, and some seafood. They have delicous desserts as well. They also have dollor coffee that they will serve all night long alwayss fresh. There is a bar that is seperate so they can make just about any drink you would like and the cost is not really that expensive. They also serve all meals money noon and night! If you havnt been there you have to give it a try!

What can i say about Pop's that hasn't been said before? The food is crappy, the waitresses are angry, the decor is western awesome. There is LITERALLY no reason to come to Pop's unless it's 3 AM and you need a huge, overcooked, greasy chicken fried steak STAT! Well, it just so happens i needed just that a few days ago. We showed up at 3 AM, in good spirits, and ready to eat. The waitress was obviously waaaaay over working the night shift, and really, who wouldn't be? Babysitting drunks who under tip you is no party. When i asked for cold cream (instead of the ones that had been sitting out on our table for days) she informed me they do not have cold cream, it's all warm. Gross, and poor customer service. The food came fast, and it was as expected. Not great, just good enough at 3 AM. I've been coming to Pop's since i was in high school, it has not changed, it never will................and thank god for that. #corvSMB

Average 'greasy-spoon' diner. Great place for a hangover breakfast, but wouldn't recommend it for anything else. The servers are attentive, but the quality of the food is lacking. If you want a great breakfast, I would suggest Elmers.

If you want a BIG meal, home-cooked, at an affordable price, head to Pop's Branding Iron - open 24/7 in a historic log cabin. Before the hwy was completed, Oregon travelers used to always meet at Pop's. It has been in the family for generations; there really was a Pop. For breakfast all day, I have their spanish omelet; tons of eggs, fresh cheese, sliced tomatos with their not too greasy but just right has browns. They even give you a HUGE pancake on the side. Come hungry girls! This is the original greasy spoon with amazing food and portions. Next time I'm going for the chicken-fried steak and French dip. #CorvSMB

I came here for breakfast. The waitress was very friendly and came often to make sure all my needs were met. Food was decent and inexpensive. Portions were pretty large. Lots of selection so everybody should be able to find something to eat. Give pop's a try!

I grew up in Albany.. All the good memories I have come from Pop's, which might be saying something about the town. It's nothing fancy. Love the homo-erotic black-and-white pictures from the pioneer days. Come and get it, boys... 24 hour greasy food, it is what it is.
