After reading all the reviews, we went here with great expectations for dinner on Saturday, 11-3-12. Walking thru the front door, the aroma of down home BBQ invited us right into the dining room. We were greeted warmly and seated right away for a party of six. I won't go into the decor or restroom facilities because what needs to be covered here is the food. For all you fellow Yelpers that love this place....more power to ya. In all sincerity, I feel like John the Baptist and "a voice crying out in the wilderness": This place is mediocre at best! No offense to the fine family who runs this establishment. Sweet people. Great atmosphere. But when it comes to BBQ, it's disappointing. My qualifications? I've been a BBQ fanatic since I was a teenager. At least 40 of my adult pounds are the result of too much brisket, pulled pork and baby back ribs. I've spent thousands of dollars on BBQ and have dined at too many road side stands and sit down establishments to count. I've also mastered the art of cooking my own brisket, ribs, tri-tip and pulled pork much to the satisfaction of family and friends. As such, maybe I'm a bit too discriminating. At any rate, the BBQ here is...decent, but not great. Certainly not worth a special trip. Which is too bad, because BBQ lovers like me will typically drive 20 or 30 miles out of our way if it's reportedly worth it. The cornbread---good. But it could have been Marie Callendar's mix found in any store. The green beans one reviewer mentioned? Nothing spectacular. Just frozen green beans. Buy a bag and steam them. Voila: Bo-Mack green beans. The potato salad? Reeser's. The beans? B&M The meat? Certainly not fall off the bone ribs. The brisket was tender (ie: fatty) but lacked any real smokey or rub infused flavor. The pulled pork? Again, nothing special or noteworthy. Tasted best drenched in sauce. Really good pulled pork requires only a drizzle of sauce so as to compliment it's flavor. The hot link? Hillshire Farms The hush puppies? Meh...over cooked (borderline burned) deep fried gobs of goo. The sweet potato tots? Got me on that one. Not great. Not homemade. But certainly not "to die for". I know I'm being EXCEPTIONALLY hard in this review, but this is for those like me who EXPECTED a lot more based on other Yelp reviews. If you don't have high expectations or have not had a lot of BBQ in the past----chances are you might really like this place. And more power to you if you do. I certainly don't wish this family any ill will in my critique. But I would be doing an injustice to other true BBQ fans if I didn't tell it like it is. As always, I feel bad for being so harsh but in re-reading my review and sharing it with my family who was there, they are in agreement. It needed to be said.

Really good service. The food is usually pretty good, but can be a bit inconsistent. Brisket is sometimes very dry. Ribs are usually good, but occasionally tough. The chicken is awful. The lack of beer is unacceptable. The staff randomly breaking out into religious song was a bit unexpected, although it did explain the lack of beer, which apparently is the devil's nectar. Brew BQ has better food, but the service there blows (they do no more than you'd get at a fast food place, yet still have the gall to ask for tips) and there's not enough seating.

My husband and I Walked in the door and greeted with a smile. Seated immediate and they brought us cornbread, light fluffy amazing cornbread!!! We ordered ice tea and a pork sandwich with baked beans and brisket sandwich with coleslaw. It was fresh hot and best tasting BBQ in the northwest with the perfect seasoning! We loved the original BBQ sauce, but they offer the hot verities too. They sell the BBQ sauce too. Their BBQ is better then the BBQ we had in Texas. Not to mention the rockstar service our drinks were always full. We will definitely be going back. I would also like the thank Bo-Macks for supporting Linn County 4-H/FFA kids 2014 livestock auction. I was impressed with the service and the B-B-Q. I attended a Birthday Party -- 24 people -- on a very busy Saturday night. I had the Bo-Mack Plate with two meats and two sides / $15.50. I ordered brisket and pulled pork, macaroni (really cavatappi) n cheese and sweet cole slaw. Delicious. Four-Star Q and Five-Star Service. Good Job, Bo-Macks!

Wow We had some friends take us for dinner (from Eugene) it was worth the drive. I'm not easily impressed with restaurant bbq but this is some tasty stuff. Most of the bbq shops have a heavy smoke taste but Bo-Mack's has a great meat flavor and mellow smoke taste. Great friendly service, makes you feel like your family. Highlight of the night was Mack (the son) showing us the smoker and Saturdays meat being cooked. We will be back for sure.

Guess I'm the only person who has had better bbq. Sorry to disappoint, this is not good bbq. At all. It will do since there doesn't seem to be any other bbq joints in a 100 mile radius, but I'd rather save my money. They are very stingy on their portions. They practically give you nothing. I guess it's meh, ok if you're in the mood for something that kinda of resembles bbq. Maybe it's because I've had the real thing on my travels down south or maybe it's because their food is overpriced and too little of it. Sorry!

This place was very good and very friendly. Even if you might think the barbecue wasn't very good, the service can't be beat. They sing as they work and everyone helps out each other, so my ice tea never got over a quarter empty. We had the wagon wheel sampler which gives you four meats, a quarter rack of ribs, and two sides for $26. Each serving of meat is a half pound, and with todays meat prices, I thought this was a steal. I can't give them 5 stars because they don't serve alcohol, but this is due to their religious beliefs. Either way, the barbecue was very good and the homemade barbecue sauces (7 in all) were very well balanced and went all the way up to ghost pepper hot. I will be back again for sure. The interior could definetely use some work, but since the food is so good, I am not too worried.

Best brisket in all the land! We love to eat the wagon wheel when we go. It's plenty of food for two people and always so fresh and delicious. The corn bread is to die for! The strawberry lemonade is so refreshing and good. Bring a blanket if you are one to get cold easily. The building is always freezing! The staff/family are the sweetest people around. You really feel welcome and appreciated when being here.

The best Bbq!! Brisket, pulled pork, ribs and chicken..so tender and flavorful. Warm corn bread starter with honey butter. Excellent sides: homemade potato salad, baked beans, corn, salads, hush puppies, etc.. Sandwiches and hand cut fries. Sweet tea and strawberry lemonade.. They also have the most delicious desserts and you can get them to go ... ( pecan pie it's awesome and so are the cobblers)... Ooooooo Yum !!!!

This place is amazing...and not just because of the food. Of course I love the food, but it is a family owned business with the whole family working. It is really neat to see. My wife and I live in Lebanon and make the tip to Bo-Mack's usually every other week. My wife and I always get the Wagon Wheel. It is the best value on the menu at $26 and is way more food than we have ever been able to eat. Four portions of meet, plus a 1/4 rack of ribs and two sides. The sauces are spectacular the original has a really unique flavor. And can be purchased separately. We will forever have at least one bottle in our frig for when we make our our bbq. The only downside, and it isn't for everyone, is that they do not serve alcohol of any kind. For me it feels unnatural eat BBQ without a beer. But maybe that's just me.

Been here a few times. Love their Brisket, portion sizes are perfect, their cornbread is wonderful. My only complaint is that they now charge you for the BBQ sauce that was once on the table to use during your meal. An extra 50 cents per tiny cup of sauce is outrageous. The term "tripping over dollars to collect dimes" comes to mind. I significantly dropped the number of times I visit because of this, from 3 times a month to once every few months.

I'm rather ashamed to say I didn't try Bo Macks for nearly a year after I moved to Albany. I wish I had done so sooner. First.the food: It's good. Is it the best BBQ I've ever had in my life? No...that happened in western NC, but it's still quite delicious. Price wise, I can't complain. Everything is reasonable. The staff: This is easily the best part of this restaurant. Apparently, everyone is related. And they are all very sweet and kind folks. You can't help but get a warm and fuzzy feeling from them. My only grip? I wish I could get a beer with dinner. But I understand and respect that I can't....and in the end its no big deal.

I don't care what anyone else says, Bo-Macks was to die for. The food was served warm and frish. I had the brisket which was very delicious. I could definitely taste the alderwood. My wife had the bbq chicken sandwich and is ready for another! The cornbread was the best I've had since living in the south. This is by far the best bbq I've had this side of the Colorado River. The staff was also very friendly.

Corn bread drizzled in honey, sweet tea and puckering lemonade begin your experience here in this old Albany location. At first I was a little taken aback as you do not get the immediate smell of BBQ meeting you in the parking lot letting you know wonderful smoked meats await. But do not fear. The menu simple, but meeting all the requirements of your typical BBQ place, Bo Mack's does not disappoint. The only issue that I really have is that I just cannot eat this much food in any give time. So, I went for it all and ordered the rack of ribs, mac & cheese and the baked beans. As I said you are greeted with the corn bread drizzled in honey which you could honestly eat all night and not have anything else for dinner. The rest of the family ordered the mixed meat plates and I was jealous as I wanted to try what they were having as well. It will have to wait for the next time I am in attendance, as out comes arguably a bronto saurus sized rack of ribs that barely fit the platter that it was placed on. With a wonderful smoke ring, and simple smoked flavor this rack lasted all of about 20 minutes. As for the family, the brisket, chicken, sausage and pulled pork plates all made their way to our table and was tasted all by me. Everything that was had, was moist, well prepared and flavorful. In addition to wonderful smoked meats, their sauces are also very flavorful and well balanced. For those of you who like your sauces more spicy, ask for their other sauces that they will gladly bring out to you. So your probably wondering why I am giving this four stars instead of five?? I should have gone with the sampler plate that had everything, and not just the ribs, not their fault but mine. I also didn't see any tips available. Burnt tips that is.

Great food, amazing service. I ordered bbq ribs, baked beans, and sweet corn. Although I have never tried authentic BAR-B-Q from the South, to my Oregonian bbq experience, I have to say Bo-Mack's has been the best so far. The corn bread.....yum! The waiter warned me of the spiciness level of sauces; they did not seem too spicy to me but very good. Bo-Mack's BBQ is definitely a family-run business and show their pride in their restaurant. We were greeted by every family member it seemed like. At the end of our meal, the waiter did something I never seen before. He brought out a large tray full of desserts and asked if we wanted any. What great marketing! Prices weren't cheap, but they were not too expensive either. I would recommend trying out Bo-Mack's BBQ and would definitely return.

Every time I come to town, this is where lunch is served. It's like no other place exists in all of Albany. I've learned to love the chicken and the brisket where yes, it's true, you don't need a knife. This meat pretty much melts in your mouth. The sides are quite tasty. I could just eat their garlic mashed potatoes and be satisfied. The only reason why I couldn't give this place five stars is because the restaurant itself needs a major makeover. The atmosphere lacks something ... I dunno ... it's like a cold country-bumpkin garage-cafeteria. Maybe they could play some music or put up some TVs. Also, be prepared to wait a considerable amount of time for your food.

Great BBQ! Brisket that is fork tender. Corn bread that melts in your mouth. Baby back ribs that fall off of the bone. Sauces from sweet and mild to burn your eyes out, your choice. Home made shoestring frys, more than I could eat. My wife and I found Bo-Mack's here on Yelps when I was looking for a BBQ restaurant that was away from the Portland area. Bo-Mack's is THE place. It was a 50 Mile drive and we will be back. It beats any BBQ place that we have been to in the Portland Metro area and we have been to several.

Best brisket I have eaten in a long time. Fork tender and very flavorful. I had baked beans and potato salad as my side dishes. The beans were like eating candy and the potato salad was rich and creamy. Loved the cornbread, too! Bought two bottles of bbq sauce to enjoy at home. The desesrt looked yummy but I didn't have room because the portion size for my lunch could easily have fed 2 people. I so wish this place were closer to home!

They have fallen to the great god of portion control. The brisket I had was part dry and crumbly and part fatty. My wife had the new catfish plate. That catfish was under the size limit and should have been thrown back. It also seemed two days old. Still clean with good service but heading the wrong direction.

After reading some great reviews for this place, my husband suggested a Mother's Day adventure. This place is 78 miles from my house, but it didn't feel like a long drive down there at all. Totally, worth the drive! We went in and were greeted right away and seated. Service here is fantastic. They brought us some cornbread and honey butter, and having saved up for this meal all day, I may have been a little to crazed when I started eating. The cornbread was moist and sweet, and apparently, endless? They would see we were low and bring more and I heard them asking people if they wanted more as they ran out. We started out with wings and chose the sweet and sassy sauce. They aren't really like traditional hot wings in the sense that they are breaded and deep fried then doused in bbq sauce, so they have a extra crispy thing going on, but so good. I posted a photo of them. I got the brisket which was plenty before I ordered the ribs on the side. Needless to say, I had a take home box. The slaw was pretty good, and the fries were the only thing I might say were not on my love list. They were home style, but very limp. The flavor was good though, but I didn't finish them. My husband had the sweet potato tots and he told me try one. Well, of course I was going to, invited or not, hello, I've never seen a sweet potato tot. Knock it off the bucket list, I've had one now. It was good, I wish I'd ordered those instead of fries. Being from Kentucky, I grew up with hush puppies on the side of many a fish dinner. I got to the Northwest years ago and people were like, "A hush what?" so I am glad I am starting to see them on more menus. This place has good sized and flavored hush puppies. They are super light and sweet. I grew up dipping hush puppies in ketchup but I don't think I could've done that to these, they were so good. They were busy when we got there around 1:20 pm, and a huge group was just leaving, and they stayed busy. I would have no problem going back here or recommending them to somebody. Oh, and as other reviewers have said, they do break out into song, but it wasn't all line dancing/ birthday singing at the top of their lungs, it was just them in unison and low key, nothing crazy. Super nice people and they make you feel welcome.

BBQ is something that seems to incite controversy in terms of what's the best technique, style, and addition/sides to the meat. I, myself, am pretty open to trying and enjoying most BBQ and Bo-Mack's is no exception. As someone who eats meat, but isn't a total carnivore, I like to be picky about which meats I consume (looking for things like: grass fed, organic, local, etc). I'm not sure about the exact origin on the meat from Bo-Mack's (though they do live on acreage according to the table bio), but between the flavor and the unique atmosphere (very home-cooking, down-home, uh...homey) feel, I'm sold. The inside isn't overly done or flashy, and there are some elements that I usually don't relish in places I dine (like the religious sign or two that is up on the wall) but all I've ever focused on was the service (excellent) and food (delicious). There is a picture of the family who owns the place with a story of how they came to the restaurant business. There is a line about this being a dream come true for their dad; it's obvious in their product that they care about serving good food, they want to share their offerings with you, and they hope you come back. I've had the pulled pork sandwich and tried the brisket, ribs, pork, and chicken. All were good and there are three distinct sauces to top them with. Choices. The potato salad was great (and I hate mayo), the coleslaw tangy, the farmers beans fresh, the baked beans flavorful, and the corn bread a great opener. They also offer service with an adorable smile, to boot. Yeah for family business! I plan to use Bo-Mack's to cater our rehearsal dinner for our wedding this summer. BBQ is conveniently both a comfort food and quintessential summer dish, so I'm sold. Moreover, I feel very comfortable with their product and service. I look forward to continued visits here when I travel home, and wish them continued success and popularity in realizing their restaurant and catering dreams.

My wife and I have been wanting to try this place since we moved to Albany a year and a half ago. She had two meat meal with two sides (brisket, pulled pork, French fries, and side salad). I had the wagon wheel platter (four meats: double brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. Two sides: chili and coleslaw). Pulled pork was pretty good, not great but pretty good. Fries were terrible. Chili should be called tomato soup. Chili was terrible. Coleslaw was very good, salad was good. Sausage was average. What really makes this meal a standout is the BRISKET! Their brisket is the best I've ever had. Even though it was expensive ($47.00 for two), we'll be back. Mostly for the awesome cornbread and brisket!

Momma's family serves great barbeque and sides, the girls sing gorgeous 4-part harmony spirituals, and the rest of the staff are as wholesome and sweet as Ozzie and Harriet. The wagon wheel is a great entree to split - it's almost too much for two. But you get to try all of their Q'd meats. The sausage is spectacular. Grab a bottle of Extreme BBQ sauce on your way out.....

This place has great service. And good food. During the duration of my dining experience i had the pleasure of a 400lb employee's ass crack staring at me from 5ft away as he bent over working on the broken ATM. Quickly felt the urge to put the pork fork down. Ehh. I still can't get that sight out. Neways. Had the half rack of ribs. I should know better than to order ribs from a place that doesn't have a hint of smoke smell in it. I paid $22 for some boiled ribs. I figured for $22 they wouldn't be boiled n baked. Wrong. The BBQ sauce gives the meat flavor since it was all boiled out. Very tender meat. Fell right off the bone. But anybody can throw ribs in a pot of boiling water. They are smoked??? Really?? Where's the pit?

The fiance and I became barbecue-obsessed late in 2012, and started looking for barbecue restaurants ever after. We met up with some friends from Eugene here, and were not disappointed! I believe I ordered some barbecued chicken and hush puppies (the "on the lighter side" plate). The meat was very flavorful and quite tender and juicy, which is good, because I have a thing about dry meat. (Blech!) And the hush puppies were quite good. I also had a taste of my fiance's pulled pork, and it was juicy and delicious. The service was very friendly, the booths were comfortable, and my glass was never empty. One thing I noticed that I'm not necessarily complaining about: there is no alcohol served here. Based on the dress of the waitress and hostess, I am guessing that the owners/employees are Mennonite, or a related sect. Again, not a complaint as the service was excellent and very friendly, just an observation.

This is my go to place for delicious BBQ. Being from Kentucky I can tell you they have some great BBQ sauce. The customer service is awesome and everyone is super friendly. You may have to wait, depending on the day and time, but it is worth it. They do have odd hours so pay particular attention to their schedule. I've stopped by here a few times and they were closed.

After making the big move to The Land of Love, Albany, I'm enjoying exploring the restaurants that I've heard about via Yelp. Bo-Macks was definitely on the list. The manfolk and I stopped by last night. The location and decor is nothing special. The service, quality of food and overall experience were great. We shared an order, which includes cornbread with honey butter. We had the pulled pork and brisket with potato salad (love the dill) and corn. Even though we were splitting it, we couldn't finish the plate. I love the wait staff. Very nice and so helpful. I'm glad that my fellow Yelpers gave this restaurant such great reviews. I may not have ever stopped. Bo-Macks? Oh' YES!!

Food: no smoker is evident anywhere on or near the place, and the food certainly isn't traditionally BBQ. The ribs taste boiled and then broiled, the sausage is likely just taken off the supermarket shelf and baked. If you think BBQ is just about pouring sauce on baked meat, this is the place for you. Sides were unremarkable, and the touted cornbread was dry, crumbly, and uninteresting. Meh. Atmosphere: it's an old, rickety building filled with whatever tables, chairs, and other furnishings that were on sale at the restaurant supply warehouse. Music is Christian. Beer is not available. Boo. Service: is upbeat and friendly. Speed is not amazing, but adequate (I was there off-peak). OK. Price: too high for what you get. Serving size is modest, the food is Midwest homemade, and the atmosphere is odd for a BBQ joint. Summary: it may or may not be the 'best BBQ in town', but it's only just OK.

Great family restaurant in Albany. Service was fantastic and everyone who helped us were very sweet. Since it was our first time, the staff went above and beyond in helping us find the sauce we liked. I like to eat spicy food and really liked their habanero BBQ sauce. Food: We were immediately given warm cornbread and honey butter. Delicious. Whoever said it was made from a store bought mix is wrong. In fact, I got to try most of their sides and nothing tasted store bought. Some of the sides tasted simple but that's why they were good. As I was eating my food, I made a mental checklist of why I would order the next time I'm back. Brisket (tender and moist), ribs, baked beans, green beans, garlic mashed potatoes. The only thing about this place is that it's a tad spendy for Albany which makes this place a once every quarter or six months type of place but fantastic none the less.

I've had BBQ from all four corners of the earth and this place is just as good as any you can find in the south. The rib meat falls off the bone, sauced but not over-sauced. The tri-tip should be renamed try&tip because it's that good. All their meat selections are good. The unsung hero at this place is it's hush puppies. These encrusted eatables are a carnival for your mouth. The texture, the chunks of corn and softness make for a wonderful dining experience in the midst of smokey meats. The desserts are equally good, cobbler being their strong suit and cherry being my specific favorite. Service is good, and the servers even gather together and sing from time to time for the patrons. That said the atmosphere and ambience of the establishment is less than ideal but completely forgivable once you take the first bite. One simple thing that would turn this into a five star rating: - Collard Greens w/ Bacon for a side dish (Too many starches IMO) That is the only thing the south has on this place.

If you've got your mind set on BBQ, Bomack's is a fantastic establishment to check out. While it's not the cheapest nor the healthiest food you'll eat, it is some of the best in the area. They have a fantastic selection of meats as well as barbecue sauces which they make themselves rather than buying in bulk somewhere. They also have a large number of foods, all of which have been delicious. The few of their items I have tried have been their signature 4 meats (Chicken, Sausage, Pulled Pork, and Brisket) and their burger. Each of the signature meats were fantastic, and the burger was one of the best I've had in this area without a doubt. While they may have fantastic food, they unfortunately aren't open all the time. Being owned by a religious family, they aren't open Sunday - Tuesday which may make it difficult to find a time to try it out if you haven't already. Bomack's is located downtown next to the bridge leading to north Albany. The location provides for a difficult time locating parking spots, but once inside they have plenty of seating and extremely friendly waiters and waitresses. -Ian

We have been searching for a good bbq place with no luck. Then someone suggested Bo Macks. We ordered the Wagon Wheel (it has all 4 meats plus some ribs) with 2 sides. Everything was outstanding save the sausage - it was a little more fatty than we were used to but the ribs and brisket made up for this. The Sweet and Sassy bbq sauce is really tasty - the server mentioned Market of Choice and Four Seasons sell it so we know where to go to get this next time. The pulled pork was wonderful with the bbq sauce. The corn bread was really tasty. The service was prompt and very friendly. Huge portions. We didn't have any room for dessert - the berry pie looked so good. Fortunately, they sell their meat by the pound. Just make sure you check their hours of operation - they are closed Sunday through Tuesday.

While in Albany, Or, I ordered cary-out from this location.... The brisket was very good. It was some of the best... The pulled pork was alright but better after the BBQ sauce was added. The person that had the ribs thought the half slab was a little small but she told me the ribs were very tender and good... The hush puppies were very unique as they were covered in cinnamon. They were fine as not big fan of cinnamon but if you are you will like them. The peach cobble as well had some cinnamon but this was very good. I would go back here with no question if i lived near by. Two thumbs up...

This is a great place! The folks make you feel like part of the family, they are so friendly. They start you out with corn bread that is sweet and fluffy. Kind of like eating cake. As a matter of fact we have had them use the corn bread and make strawberry shortcake for us. Wow it was so good. I have had several of the meats and have not been disappointed in any of them. My favorite is the brisket, smokey and juicy. The sides are good too. My favorites are the baked beans and sweet potato tater tots. The restaurant is owned by a very sweet family. They all work long hard hours . . . And they always have a smile! If they are not too busy ask the kids to sing for you. Three or four of the kids will gather and sing some beautiful songs for their patrons. I give this place high marks and would recommend it to any of my carnivorous friends!

The decades-long quest for the greatest bbq in the universe ...continues. After a glorious outing at the local gun show there @ Albany expo, I was greatly anticipating my maiden voyage to Bo-Mack's. I've heard and read so many great reviews of the place; seems like a mortal lock on "Fabulosity", si? Couldn't WAIT to get down on some of that goodness! My dining party shared a "Wagon Wheel" in order to be able to sample pretty much all of Bo-Mack's offerings. No excuses, no muss, no fuss. Better yet, there was plenty to box up and enjoy the next day... First, a summary of the "Good"... --The service was prompt and friendly w/o feeling pretentious or forced. The place was not very busy when we were there, but I've been to enough other places that insist on offering unbelievably slow, bad service even when I'm the only patron there, so I'm learning to modify my expectations just a tad. Fortunately, Bo-Mack's scores highly in this area. --My table LOVED the brisket, so much so that they embarrassed the poor waiter a little bit (nice guy, but a bit of an attention whore, it seemed to me), trying to get him to spill the beans on the secret cooking methods.The fat rind was properly trimmed and the meat was like velvet; not tough or rubbery at all. --The Catfish were humongous and perfectly deep-fried fillets. --- The pork was good, tender. I like it with more smokiness and wicked spicy heat.... Bo-Mack's offered some savory house-made sauces, but none were nearly hot enough for the inner nino del fuego. Same for the ribs. Whenever you find yourself thinking along the lines of "I bet this'd be really good w/some spicy dry rub, fresh off my Traeger grill" you already have your answer.... --The green beans were magnificent. Truly. I can't remember ever wanting just a HUGE bowl of green beans for my side so badly, especially compared to the rest of the sides (see below). Now a word on the one item on our spread deemed a "Draw" amid my table-mates: the hush puppies. I personally love hush puppies, have had 'em all throughout the Southern States, and prefer the ones w/jalapeno or habanero bits in 'em. However. Bo-Mack's take on hush puppies is of the decidedly sweet variety. Sweet! If I've ever had sweet hush-pups I've managed to erase it from memory. It seemed to be from the same exact cornmeal batter they use to make their enormous cornbread, which again, was moist and light, but waaaaaaaay too sweet for this honcho. Seriously. Cut the sugar in the recipe by half, it'd still be muy dulce, amigos! Nonetheless, others in my dining party really liked Bo Mack's hush puppies in all their sweetness. Hence the "Draw". By extension, this also makes their cornbread a "mixed review"---even the butter they served it with was sweet (cream)! I am not diabetic, but it's in the family, and I most DEFINITELY don't want to have to worry about tempting the Diabetes Gods w/my dining-out selections---especially when it's bbq...! And that brings us, inevitably, to the "areas for improvement" on Bo-Mack's.. ---The chicken was dry and tough. A pretty shocking discovery, considering it was on the same plate as that most excellent brisket as well as the oh-so-lovely green beans... ---The hot link was small and definitely sub-par to virtually every other bbq I've sampled--and I've sampled many eateries indeed. The wagon wheel was a $26 item--- if you're gonna charge that much, you don't want the customers coming away going "really? One half of one small link?" ---The bbq beans--boy oh boy oh boy oh boy. Again waaaay too friggin' sweet. "Hog Wild" in SE Portland retains the "bbq beans championship belt" by a first round knock out! The frijoles could have 1/2, even 1/8 as much sugar and still be plenty sweet for this lil' buckaroo... So there it is. 3 stars. One of the most disappointing 3 star experiences of recent memory-- mainly b/c I've waited so long to try 'em out, and they came so highly recommended! However, There was much to like, and now I know what to order, and what to avoid! Thanks Bo-Macks, and nothing personal, you all truly were lovely. You're able to stay in business offering what obviously a lot of folks want in their 'q---- sugar! Much good onya.

Brisket so tender it melts in your mouth and ribs worth driving for even if its a ways. They bring cornbread to your table to munch while you wait for your order that is also great. There are three bottles of bbq sauce on the table so you can choose your fav or mix and match. Family owned affair and the whole family works here. They're all nice as can be. Far as I'm concerned the only drawback is that they're not open longer hours and every day of the week!

Amazing BBQ! I live in Corvallis and since Sweets left there hasn't been anywhere to get good BBQ anywhere near Corvallis. Bo-Mack's in Albany has that home cooked meal food that we all need every once in a while (or all the time!). The hush puppies and fries (don't forget the delicious fry sauce) are a must have! Those that didn't give Bo-Mack's 5 stars based on the price are out of their minds. The prices here are fantastic and the portions are huge. We usually end up taking a full meal home in a to-go box. Yes, the decorations could use some work (Ok, a lot of work). But, the food is excellent regardless. So, if you can overlook some tacky curtains and dated booths, it's well worth the trip. They even do to-go orders!

I love that this place is family run. Service at smaller family owned businesses are always so much more inviting. Right when you get in they bring out delicious cornbread with their honey butter. It's soooooo good. The cornbread is moist and my favorite is the outside pieces because you get a the moist inside and the crispier outside :) I have only been here twice and both times I ordered their combo that had all of the meats and two sides to share with another person. It was so much food and was like $26 dollars I think? Great deal. I thought the sausage was too salty, but I tend to eat more on the bland side. The pulled pork was delicious as was the brisket. I thought the ribs were kind of dry though. Lastly, I loved all of their barbeque sauces. They provide 3 different kinds on every table, but if you are into spice, they have a special sauce in the back and were more than happy to bring some out for us. I will definitely be back. I would love to try one of their desserts next time.

Went with my husband for lunch last week. We each ordered the 2-meat plates. I got brisket & chicken with green and baked beans as sides. He got pulled pork & sausage with green beans and baked potato sides. The meal starts with fluffy corn bread that's really yummy. His pork was dry & the sausage was reminiscent of a store-bought kielbasa. My chicken & brisket were awesome! The baked beans were tasty but sweeter than what I like. The staff was EXCELLENT! The Good: Yummy house-smoked BBQ. The pulled pork is tender and delicious. Their sauces are great with tons of flavor. All you can eat cornbread with honey butter with your meal!!!! The Bad: Good BBQ comes at a price. Even a small plate or sandwich and side will run you about $7-$8. The meat is occasionally a little dry, though an extra quirt of BBQ sauce usually fixes that right up. The Ugly: The carriage in the waiting area and the really high-backed booths are a little too Western for my taste. If you like cheesy Westerns though, you'll fit right in! The Rundown: Great BBQ that comes at a price. With all you can eat cornbread and house sauces that compliment genuine smokey BBQ goodness, it's worth the price.

Very friendly service and yummy food! The cornbread they serve before your meal is amazing! I prefer a sweeter cornbread so this really hit the spot! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad, and my husband had the brisket sandwich with sweet potato tots. The pork was very tasty and I liked that it wasn't fatty or greasy like other places I've tried. The potato salad wasn't bad but nothing too memorable. My husband enjoyed his brisket; very moist and flavorful. The sweet potato tots were awesome!! We'll definitely come back here for lunch or dinner.

Well, I made it back to Bo-Mack's. I think I mentioned in my last review that the portions seemed 'small'. Let me just remind you - an 8oz steak doesn't look very big either, until you're eating it and realizing that you just ate half a pound of delicious beef. I went with a group of 4 guys, and we all ordered the plates. I had the brisket and pork plate. I knew I liked both of those from my previous visit. It did not disappoint! And, this time, I knew to ask for their behind-the-counter spicy bbq sauce. What an improvement! Thats what bbq sauce should be like! (At least, in my world). The corn bread was plentiful - The 5 of us chowed through the first plate really quickly. (There were a lot of MMmmmmms) and the waitress brought another plate - there is no better way to make a bunch of guys like a restaurant than to give them yummy free food. My plate was delicious. Again, some of the best brisket I've ever had. The pulled pork was delicious. The new spicy bbq sauce was perfect with both. Their garlic mashed potatos were ... YUM. I scraped the bowl clean on those, which is probably why I only ate a few bites of my brisket and only half of my pork. The servings were enormous. There was only one person at our table who finished their lunch - and he is a big, tall guy with a big appetite. So, please ignore my 'small serving size' comment from earlier. I was completely wrong. What I had: beef brisket, corn bread, pulled pork, hush puppies (average) and garlic mashed potatos. Drank sweet tea. Great service, again. Delicious BBQ sauce. Good prices (my lunch for this huge pile of food and unlimited sweet tea was 15.50). I'll be back, and I'll be suggesting Bo-Macks for anyone wanting BBQ in the area.

This review is for their catering......Had their Beef Brisket at an industry show I was at Saturday and boy, howdy, these people know BBQ! Everybody was talking about the chicken, pork and beef that was prepared. The Beef Brisket was no doubt the best I had had- cooked to perfection and fell apart (not some dried up smoke bomb!). I look forward now to checking out the restaurant on my next business lunch while in Albany. Hope it is as great as the catered lunch!

Bo-Mack's is about BBQ, sweet finger licking BBQ. 4.5 out of 5 good! There were four of us and we split a family style meal plus a half rack o' ribs. I don't usually get ribs as I don't typically find them to be the best value (I'm a brisket man at heart). The ribs were awesome!! Meaty, not too much fat, I'd return for them. But the brisket, oh the brisket! It is awesome. The sides were good as well the stand outs for me were the the cole slaw (sweet and vinegary) and the baked beans (actually tasted baked, you'll see). The sauces at the table were flavorful and appropriately labeled for their heat levels. The pulled pork was the only thing on the table we didn't rave about...just not to our tastes. As for value, overall very good. A touch expensive on the individual dishes but good with the family style, we ate our fill and had plenty left overs. Our whole meal, four people four bottomless iced teas, one family meal, one half rack and about six sides with corn bread was less than $70. Not bad for decent BBQ and awesome service! P.S. - Decor isn't what this place is about...it's a meal hall set up but you won't care once you get your food and maybe get a song from the owners, I'm looking for an excuse to go back!

Let me begin by saying that I went to Bo-Mack's with pretty reasonable expectations. An open mind and open heart. A heart that yearns for barbecue--just decent barbecue. Not anything crazy or fancy..-- I know, this is the Pacific Northwest- not the barbecue belt. What was it like? Well, here's what I had: -a half rack of ribs. Cost: $20, including 2 sides. The price seemed high, but who knew? These were OK, but not worth more than $12 (with sides) for the quality. Heavily, heavily peppered, smoked, sauce was all right. I also tried four side dishes, all of which I would classify as "fine." Cole slaw, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, skin on french fries. For the overall cost, I would expect at least generous portions of the sides- but portion sizes were standard. But the real disappointment here was the chicken. Every time that I've ordered barbecued chicken in my life, I've received an actual piece of a chicken--1/4 or half of a bird. But to my shock and dismay my "chicken" entree consisted of two skinless chicken thighs, which were in all fairness edible- but slightly dry. I can't help but chuckle at this. Why? Why not serve an actual piece of chicken with the skin on, covered in barbecue sauce? -cost was either $10 or $12, including two sides. Overall: the food is edible. It's better than bad. The portions were small considering the price, and I was surprised by the fact that we received no bread with our order. I am sorry to leave such a negative review, but: wow! I am sorry to see such a poorly run restaurant. If you do go here, i hope that your experience is better than mine! **and this is a post-review edit: as my dining companion says: it's not difficult to make good BBQ. Tony Roma's can do it. TGI Friday's can do it, for christ's sake. Most people could go buy a piece of meat, bake it in the oven, pour a bottle of sauce on it and it would be infinitely better than what is served here. Just ranting on because anyone who's rating this place better than 3 stars is NOT writing a real review!

(4.5 star review!) Great BBQ actually! I am surprised. Moving to Albany I was afraid that there would not be many restaurants (I came from Portland). I got the ribs, 1/4 rack for $14 with two sides and cornbread complimentary. Some reviews say it is pricey- yes, it is a bit. But a 1/4 rack of ribs anywhere else is between 10 and 15 dollars (even in portland). So this is about average. Ribs are expensive everywhere! The ribs were really really good. I mean really good. I would return for them. The cornbread was wonderful. Immediately they bring it to you with whipped butter. It was really good! I got the baked bbq beans and ceasar salad on the side. i was happy with the beans, I am not usually a fan of bbq beans- when they are too sweet. These were very smokey. The salad was a bit heavily dressed, but very tasty and fresh! My mom and husband got the brisket with coleslaw and the daily veggie of ranch style green beans. We are veggie snobs- and the green beans were not up to par. They tasted canned or frozen and just plain. Wouldn't do them again. The cole slaw though- very fresh, not too much mayo, and crispy. They call it sweet slaw- but it wasn't too sweet- it just wasn't the vinegar type. It was tasty. The sauce- they have three. Mild original peppery, medium, and hot. All three were great. I really liked them. I am somewhat of a BBQ snob, and I would return. Wasn't the best I have ever had, but it was up there! We all got iced tea- with free refills. They were very attentive at refills, and coming by to check on us. Service was 5 stars.

The best BBQ I've ever eaten! I don't live in Albany anymore, but when I'm here to visit, this is where I want to eat. The food is always delicious and the service is good. Whenever you walk through the door, you feel like you're visiting your favorite relatives. My family and I had the pleasure of eating there on Mother's Day(Not normally open on Sundays, this was special for the holiday). The food was wonderful as usual and they gave every mom the choice of a free strawberyy shortcake or a brownie earthquake. My mom and I each chose one and shared between the two of us. The food and the sweet tea is so good, you won't miss alcohol. Go there, you won't regret it!!!

If you love BBQ as much as my husband and I do, then you will want to check out Bo-Mack's BBQ in Downtown Albany. I honestly have never had brisket that is fork-tender and the chicken has the best flavor. And the sauce?? Be sure to bring some home with you!! My favorite is the "hot", but all are absolutely wonderful. Some of my other favorites are the "sweet coleslaw, "Mama's Homemade Potato Salad" and if you have lived in the south (I spent several years in Georgia), you can't go without the Hush Puppies...yum! Bo-Mack's is family run by Kendra and her 7 kids. They are the most welcoming, friendly family and as an added bonus, if you ring the bell, the kids will come out and sing. Let me tell you, these kids can Really sing!! So, if your in the mood for BBQ, please stop by Bo-Mack's...you won't be disappointed...

My husband and I love eating at BoMacks whenever we visit Oregon. The staff and family at this family owned restaurant are always friendly and never too busy to make you feel welcome. You can expect to have a BBQ feast with all the trimmings. We usually have the pulled pork or BBQ ribs, which are great! This time through I enjoyed some very tasty and moist BBQ chicken as well. Kind of a creepy vibe to this place, but decent BBQ. I would have done take out had I known the waitresses (sisters? cousins?) would start to sing during the meal. I enjoyed the pulled pork and the ribs, the brisket was a bit fatty and the sausage was nothing special.

This is a great barbecue spot! A local farm family who do great country cooking. I have eaten there for lunch, ordered out, and most recently ordered food for a wedding reception for 50. We picked up our food there and it was all packed well and ready on time as ordered. People raved about all of it especially the pulled pork and the ribs. Many people commented on the delicious coleslaw as well. In retrospect I would not have ordered the hush puppies for this- they just didn't travel well and keep their crispness, but they are great right out of the fryer. I'm going to give this place five stars for a number of reasons. I'm not generally a fan of extra-sweet cornbread, and I like my green beans to be crisper, but I won't bring my hippie California sensibilities into this argument. We went here looking for delicious BBQ and a pleasant experience. We got it! We love the unpretentious family atmosphere, and everyone working was incredibly nice. Not perky corporate nice, but hardworking and genuinely good-tempered. All our food was delicious with the meat, of course, being the star. We had four different meats and it was all wonderful. We will certainly go back.

We have been here about 3 times and each time our whole table has been very happy with their food. They start you off with yummy cornbread that comes with a super tasty honey butter. I have had the brisket each time and it is delicious and tender. I have tried bites of the other meats and while they are also very good the brisket is by far my favorite. I love the 3 different sauce options, something for everyone. The family that owns and works there are very helpful and friendly and if you go, hopefully it will be on a night that they sing! The only thing I would like is if they had fountain soda as an option, but other than that Bo-Macks is one of Albany's best.

Cara and I went on a date to Bo-Mack's. I know Kendra from a biz group I'm in and am a little embarassed it took me this long to go visit. Cara and I love BBQ, but infrequently get to indulge, so we were looking forward to this treat. Nice greeting as we arrived and were seated. All the staff is very friendly. We ordered the 2 meat Bo-Mack plates. Cara chose Brisket and Chicken and I chose Pulled Pork and Chicken. Cara "Macked" hers up with 3 ribs for the extra $6.50. While we were waiting, one of the daughters brought us warm corn bread and butter. It was DELICIOUS corn bread. While we were waiting we also got to enjoy some live music. Bo-Macks is known for the owner's kids singing a capella for patrons on the weekend. They were great. Nice harmonies and a fun addition to the evening. Food arrived. Very impressed. Pulled pork was a 4 out of 5. Chicken was a 5 out of 5 and the ribs also a 5 out of 5. The side dishes, pretty good. I had the baked beans and mac&cheese. The mac and cheese was not my favorite but the beans were quite tasty with a smoky brown sugary taste. The chicken was really a highlight for me, and I can't forget to mention Bo-Mack's original bbq sauce. It is awesome. I consumed a lot of it, mostly the Zesty and the real hot one- both super good. We went here with friends on a Friday night and it was packed. BoMack's BBQ is the kind of place that isn't going to wow you at the door. However, once you get inside and the smell hits you you'll know why it's worth the wait. It has a very homey decor. The food and presentation is not presumptuous - just plain good. I get the impression the place is family run from the atmosphere. The meats melt in your mouth and the corn bread is wonderful. The baked beans have that earthy smoke flavor like none I have had before. The following week I had to have more and got the take out which I am happy was every bit as good.

Great bbq! This place has become my favorite place to get bbq in the area! I've gone here quite a few times, brought friends, and have always enjoyed a delicious meal. The only downside is the prices being a little higher than i think they should be but one i start to chow down, i forget all about it! When you walk in you are usually greeted with a smile by one of the family members that own the place (there are about 9 so there is always somebody to smile when you enter). The first thing you get is free delicious fresh made cornbread and honey butter! ( this contributes to the higher prices i'm sure but i am very ok with that) The bread is so warm and soft and with the addition of the honey butter just makes it about heaven and the best part is, they bring you more when you finish! They have great sauces to choose from and a selection of brisket, chicken or pork or even all of the above and the cuts and taste have always been great! They have great hush puppies and sweet tea which i always make sure to order. I got great confirmation on the quality of the food and drink when i brought my friends in from North Carolina and it really reminded them of home. If for some reason you don't have the best experience i would recommend talking to them about it. They are extremely friendly and are always willing to make sure your time there is great! Best BBQ West of Mississippi! The food is outstanding and the family that runs the place is very friendly and fun. The kids even sing a song a cappella for the crowd. Entertaining and decious. Bo-Macks is a must-try destination.
