Went in for what I was told as "good" BBQ. The ribs were sold out, so I opted for the brisket plate. The brisket was good but not great as I'd hoped for. Was abit dry. Coleslaw had a sour taste, maybe yesterday's batch. One taste and left the rest. If you don't mind sharing your food with at least 1 doz flys buzzing around your head and food then this is a place for ya. Seems like the staff was put out and wasn't very friendly. A older gent who was the owner wasn't very concerned with his customers experience. Probably won't ever go back. They have plenty of locals who obviously are happy with mediocre food, with no taste and eating with more flys than a cow pasture.

I had the catfish dinner. Must try the Wagg's fries. BBQ brisket and ribs were well seasoned, not too much smoke. Beans were OK, nothing special. Chips didn't live up to the salsa, a bit stale. Interesting decor. definitely not a chain. Unique find in Woodward.

The fried mushrooms are really good, when I order them I thought the recipe was going to be great also! However, the barbecue was not very good in my opinion.

OK, do you go to a barbecue place for the sides? Or the meat/barbecue? So what is the problem if the SIDES are better than the 'cue? Something wrong, huh? I have eaten at the place over the years when I travel to Woodward for work. It has definitely been better. I mentioned after my meeting that I was going to go to Wagg's for lunch since I thought they had good barbecue. The folks at the meeting said that I would be disappointed; that it had gone downhill. Well, wish I had listened to them. They were RIGHT!! I HATE reheated meat at a barbecue place. I know, I know meat is expensive. Maybe it's a necessary evil in this day and age but at the prices they charged for lunch $15, I should not have to put up with barbecue that was cold and then reheated. You can tell obviously. The ribs were good but like I said......reheated. Not very warm but tender. The brisket on the other hand was almost inedible. Tough; lean; cold. Not much smoke flavor or bark. If not for the sauce, really no flavor on the brisket. I was really disappointed on the meats.....which is the MAIN reason to go to a place for barbecue is it not? On the other hands..........the sides (greenbeans and slaw this time) were great. Greenbeans hot, fully flavored. Good. Slaw was a sweet based slaw but had a little garlic kick that made it good. But honestly, I won't be back until I hear that they have improved on the meat. Gotta find another barbecue place in Woodward until then..............LOL Friendly staff. Thought it was also funny this day...........guess the uniform of the day was ball caps or hunter caps and jeans or camo......because if you were not in one of these, you were out of place as to the patrons! Like the nice touch as to a newspaper printed menu with some fun facts about Woodward.

Avoid: Tried the 3 meat Combo. Ribs, brisket and sausage. Came with two sides. I chose beans and okra. Brisket was dry and flavorless. Absolutely no smoke to it. Sausage was rather ordinary, like any kielbasa you would boil. The ribs were the only thing with any flavor. They were certainly moist with a hint of smoke. The menu (on news print) said Mr Wagg puts on a generous portion of the family rub seasoning. didn't taste a bit of it. Okra, also flavorless, not even salt. The beans were cowboy style. They were ok if you like that style. I dont. Heck, all of the beer is only 3.2%. If this is the best BBQ Woodward has to offer then, keep driving.

I ordered the three meat combo.....cold and very disappointed flavorless , tuff, and dry. Sausage is nothing but cheap baloney . Beans suck . I would recommend you keep driving

I really wanted to like this place because it was so funky. I think everyone who goes here probably has a different experience because you can't do everything well. I had the catfish. It actually was pretty good. Nice and spicey, not too greasy and the sauce they gave you was good. Hush puppies looked like they were extruded And kind of tasted like it. Really oily and not much to recommend there. The slaw was watery and kind of odd tasting. No sweetness like most slaws. All in all it was not bad. My companion enjoyed his brisket and his okra and beans were good. We had fast service and were served our dinners within 10 minutes of ordering and the place was getting pretty busy when we left. On the down side the ladies restroom was filthy and that was the sink, light switches, baby changer all with black greasy handprints all over. Thr floor looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in months. A huge letdown I forgot to mention was the horrible salad bar. No leafy greens here.no fruits as advertised on the menu, no pickles as advertised on the menu, none of the famous salsa and chips. Nothing like advertised, just really pretty bad.

I agree with a previous review that mentioned Wagg's is a good alternative to chains, but it does have some flaws. The service was ok but not great, for example during the meal no one offered to refill our tea. As for the food, the Philly cheesesteak was very good, as were the pinto beans and Wagg's special thin-cut fries which are like potato chips. On the down side, the chopped BBQ sandwich was just ok, not bad but nothing special and the BBQ sauce was sweet but with no bite. But I've saved the worst for last---it was almost 1:00pm and we decided to order the blackberry cobbler with ice cream and after about what seemed to be about a 10 minute wait we were informed the blackberry cobbler would not be ready for another hour so basically they missed any lunch hour sales. If you're going to have something on the menu, have it ready when when people want it. That was very disappointing. All in all, if you're in the area give Wagg's a shot, especially the cheesesteak and the Wagg's fries.

Well ... I liked the Decor. And the Staff was friendly. That's worth the two stars. But my order ... Fries, soggy and undercooked. The Chicken Battered Steak was beaten to death really bad before soaked in old fat. The "best" was the Entree, my bull balls. Deep fried. They tasted like chicken, which in this case was not bad.

This place used to be a 6 out of 5 stars. Having moved to the other side of the state I could often bring a tear to my eye thinking about Waggs Fries and their Chicken Fry. My Mother still believes the reason I would drive the several hours to be back home was to spend quality time with the family. Not saying she was wrong but as the hours behind the wheel dragged on my trio to the homeland, it was the thought of Waggs gravy that kept me going. Sadly the last couple of times I ate there, it just wasn't the same. I could blog on in explanation but I'm crying to hard to keep typing. Miss you, the Waggs of my youth. :(

Fun ribs and catfish joint with an enjoyable and authentic "pioneer" atmosphere. Captures the spirit of northwest Oklahoma's past with Native American-themed artwork in a nicely preserved rustic "old west" building. Food is significantly above average when compared to the town's other offerings. A salad bar is available (a rarity in these parts). The menu is presented in a clever newspaper format, which includes tidbits of local history. It's a nice casual alternative to the several chain restaurants in town. The staff is very friendly and attentive. A best bet for the area.
