Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.

This place is just like IHOP but better. What I mean by that is that they have a lot of the same stuff. I went here for breakfast and a lot of the stuff was the same. It was really cool however, because they have a lot of different kinds of pancakes. For most of the stuff that you order you get pancakes. When you order them you get to pick between a lot of different kinds of pancakes which is kinda cool. Plus if you ask them for stuff just like extra chocolate, they just get it out of the back without a fuss. The staff is probably better paid and better taken care of because people actually looked liked they cared about their jobs here. The parking lot was full, so it was packed but they were never frazzled. I guess they are usually packed on saturday mornings but they did very well, didn't get anything wrong and I really enjoyed my food. Some of the food there is every pretty creative.

Not too impressed. I used to hit up this place all the time in my bouncing days. We'd leave the club about 4am and hit this place before heading home to crash. The people working then were always cool and service was tight. Stopped in this morning because my usual place IHOP was packed and I figured for old times sake I would come here grab a waffle and head in to work. Proly won't be doing that again. Except for the guy serving me the employees here, especially the GM, need to find other employment. The guy serving me accidently brought out the wrong plate and when I told him about it he went back and got the correct one. Even then he offered me a free piece of pie. I didn't take it because as far as I was concerned he did nothing wrong but it was good customer service that he offered. Everybody else there tho seemed like they would rather be some where else, no urgency with orders, minimal politeness, etc.

I agree with another reviewer, Matthew W., that this is like IHOP but better. I'd say it's almost a cross between First Watch and IHOP. The menu is very similar. There are breakfast foods that are served all day as well as a lunch and dinner menu with items like sandwiches, pot roast, burgers, etc. The food is definitely a step up from IHOP. I'm sure everything is still frozen and canned, but the flavor is better and they seem to take more care in preparing it. The tomato basil soup is delicious and tastes like the tomato basil soup at First Watch. The food is less salty but still flavorful. Serving sizes and prices are also very similar to IHOP. They are also known for their pies, which I have yet to try. You can get a free slice of pie on Wednesdays with any menu purchase. So you can buy a cup of coffee or a glass of milk and get a free slice of pie. It's a great deal but we just haven't made it out there to try it. Service is very good and is definitely better than I've gotten at IHOP locations in the area. The servers, even when busy, seem to genuinely want you have a good time. The managers are always active and on the floor. My fiance goes here occasional to work as an alternative to a place like Starbuck's. He lets the host know that he plans to work for a couple of hours and wants to sit out of the way. They are always accommodating and seat him near an outlet so he can plug his laptop in. He uses the free wifi, gets a cup of coffee, and works. This has never been a problem with anyone, which is pretty awesome. He leaves a good tip to make up for taking up a table. :) Also, FYI, we get coupons in the mail frequently for 20% off the check or buy one, get one free entrees.

I went here for a late night dinner with my family. The service is excellent. The hostess/server knew some of my family and welcomed them back. I had only eaten VI for breakfast during "breakfast time", so venturing off the breakfast menu was new for me. I had the veggie grilled sandwich and it was delicious! The sandwich included artichoke, goat cheese, tomatoes, grilled onion and mushroom with basil spread. It was yummy and I would recommend this if you aren't in the mood for breakfast food. I also had the side salad which was nice and fresh. Initially, I ordered the side soup instead of the salad, but when I tasted the tomato soup, I didn't care for it and the server immediately brought me out a side salad instead.

My fiancee and i came here to try something different and was it ever. First the service is horrible, the food is ok but i would recommend IHOP before i would this place. My fiancce got the pancake plate and the main part of the plate (The pancakes) were so doughy you have to drown them in syrup

My fiancé and I decided to check out this place for the first time....Now im wishing we ate somewhere else...the service is so terrible....we have been here for 30 mins and our drinks are still empty. ...guess the assume were camels..the breakfast was ok but ihops is better...my fiance got the chicken fried steak and it was good....very dissapointed on the service...Unfortunately we wont recommend nor be back. I wanted to rate the only thing that was worth this disaster and thats the CFS (chicken fried steak)

I kind of wanted to give this location 4 stars because honestly this is just Village Inn and they're always busy and you can tell the waitstaff and host always does their very best, but I do honestly feel this place is just "A-OK" and truthfully... that's fine. :) The food is always okay and I never really feel as though I'm paying too much for what I'm getting. On this particular occasion that we stopped here it wasn't any different. We were around a bunch of other people which made me feel slightly uneasy because, you know, I'm eating food and when you're in a location that is really busy and there are full tables all around you it can sort of ruin the mood, but that isn't anyone's fault that works at this location. It is what it is. Their coffee and water always taste really great so that's definitely a plus. I've been to this location before and I am sure I'll be back at some point because I really don't ever have anything to complain about or bad experiences here.

Fast and friendly service, right off the expressway, kid's menu, pot of coffee arrives on the table right away, and it's breakfast. Nobody messes up breakfast.
