I am a coffee guy so the mainstream Starbucks, Peet's, etc. are a last resort. Topeka has coffee that has great flavor and not the burnt roasted beans. It's a little more acidic, but that's the region of their beans. Treat yourself and splurge on a cinnamon roll. They are like the way grandma use to make them!! Enjoy!!

Hotels are supposed to offer sub-par fare, by definition, because travelers are a tough crowd to please. Topéca may not have a direct business relationship with the Mayo hotel, but they're certainly joined by a doorway, and that was enough for me to anticipate Good, but not Great. I lower my expectations whenever I order anything from a hotel, actually. Every aspect of my experience here, from the latte to the herbal tea to the yogurt and fruit cup to the naughty by nature cinnamon roll was fantastic, especially with the soundtrack that morning: a virtual flash flood struck Tulsa, it was a wild ride to watch, comfortably tap tap tapping my laptop (free wi-fi). I heard the beans were sourced from one estate and the café was family-owned; I got that impression from the service, as well, so friendly. My cup was honestly rewarding, complex and delicate. Again, the cinnamon roll was sort of inter-planetary, there was way too much icing on that mother (I ate it all up) and the best part was the roll itself, which was very dense, something more likely to come from a European bakery than Duncan Donuts. The Mayo is connected to a gem. Let's hope it keeps shimmering.

Fantastical coffee and great people. The baristas and staff are genuine and easy to talk with. I had a pour over which met all my expectations and the breakfast sandwich was tasty. The company has a great backstory as well. Responsibly sourced coffee, good people, good food.

Love the coffee here and have been to their other locations but this one does their own lunch menu. Oh my gosh, we had a fresh chocolate chip peanut butter cookie straight out of the oven and it was good. I also really enjoy their salads. I go here too much for an out of towner!

Wow, I really luck out in Oklahoma when it comes to great restaurants at the bottom of hotels. Topéca is no exception and I could not be more in love with this incredible coffee shop. This place is great in so many scenarios. Need a cool, creative place to get some work done? Check. Want to catch up with a friend over wonderful food and coffee? Check. Need to shove food in your face as fast as possible after a long travel day? Check. I love the long work table inside... I'll either sit there or snag a seat by the window. If you're trying to decide on lunch, don't get anything other than the chicken melt. Everything I've tried for breakfast is wonderful, too, and grab a pastry if you're in the mood for something sweet. The coffee is in a league of its own and you can't lose regardless of what blend you have. Hooray for local coffee and food in Tulsa!

This is the third time in this establishment and it looks better after the recent remodel. This Topeka location is located in the Mayo Hotel and is such a treat to walk into (off the side of the main entrance), just beautiful. They have a good selection of homemade bakery items (supplied by their sister company Heritage Bakery) though I haven't tried any yet. The coffee menu is easy to read and their equipment is top notch. I ordered the Perfect Latte which is my favorite. I like it because it has more espresso to less milk ratio than a latte (like a Flat White is you do Starbucks). My husband likes the macchiato but frankly, it is such a small drink I like mine to last longer than 2 swigs. The staff is okay, kind of stand off-ish, but whatever. My complaint would be that on my last visit, my husband and I were over charged a drink by adding an extra 2 shots in a cup. We realized it when we went to pick up our drinks there were 3 cups waiting for us. When we told the barista they took our card back and refunded the 2 shot drink but then took the drink and dumped it in front of us. Sure, we didn't order it. But it would have been nice to offer it as a consolation for having us wait and extra 5 minutes to do all the refunding ect. Just good customer service.

so.. this place is one of my absolute favorites. I go to the Topeca in the Hyatt hotel downtown on the daily due to it's proximity to my office & its awesome coffee.. but they don't have lunch offerings. this location does.. and they're nothing short of amazing. I usually get the half curry chicken salad (always on point) with chicken noodle soup - apparently I'm into chicken. they also have Brie grilled cheese sandwiches which are to die for.. couple that with mouthwatering desserts like peanut butter chocolate chip cookies & perfect soy lattes and this place can't be beat. it also has an extremely comfortable vibe which makes it my kinda place - you can go here to meet with friends, read, etc. AND the staff is always grand. there ya have it, Topeca is DANG good.

There's something about this coffee shop that immediately makes me feel good when I walk in. The urban feel is inspiring, the slightly dimmed and natural light is relaxing and the staff is consistently welcoming. The coffee? Tulsa is so lucky to have locally roasted coffee with a high standard for the whole seed to cup process. It's family operated and I am so happy out-of-towners staying at The Mayo have this connected to the lobby. What better way to show off Tulsa! Needless to say, the coffee is always fresh and the company is passionate for quality. I have found one of my favorite rainy day indulgences here... the cinnamon roll! Baked fresh with cream cheese frosting... I mean, really. How can I not get one even if it's not raining?
(5)Lauren S.
I stopped in with my parents on a whim and had a great experience. I ordered an iced mocha that was absolutely delicious. Definitely will visit again!
(5)Michelle M.
We went to the Topeca located in the Hyatt Downtown and it was quite a coffee shop. Good customer service, laid back enviorment, and good coffee. I was especially surprised with the art design in my drink! Great job!
(4)Erica W.
I really like the location of this coffee house. It is right next door to the Mayo hotel and spitting distance of the BOK center. Topeca does have yummy coffee, but what I enjoy is the tea blends. I normally order an earl grey latte. Sometimes I can taste a hint of lavender... mmmm! They always make these to perfection and just how I order them. I also get warm fuzzies when I see all of the baked goods. Holy crap! So many choices and they never let me down on quality and taste. The only thing I would complain about is parking, but this is not their fault, necessarily. I also noticed there is an ATM located at the back of this coffee house. YAY! totally makes up for the parking issue. :)
(5)Matt B.
High quality pour over experience. As far as Tulsa this place is the best in my opinion. Their seed to cup approach makes them unique but they also offer single origin selections from other areas. The prices are reasonable for what they are offering and while they pay attention to detail, it isn't snooty like some pour over shops can be. On cappuccinos the microfoam is pretty good, though I've had better in other cities. Overall, if you're in Tulsa, this is the place to go for coffee.
(4)Ali A.
the line is only long because it's worth the wait!! The frozen coffee is to die for!
(5)Julie S.
I know you think I'm crazy, but please trust your instincts and my review and go ahead and get the cinnamon roll. The cream cheese icing is perfect, the cinnamon: sugar: dough ratio is just right, and it will take care of your sweet tooth and your hunger for a good long time. You could eat ten scones, or you could just eat this one delicious cinnamon roll. The coffee is excellent, the staff is spot-on, the location can't be beat. It's a prime spot for an early morning coffee, a long and leisurely mid-morning coffee meeting, or, it turns out, a lunch menu of surprising variety, which I look forward to trying!
(5)Thomas H.
I was in Tulsa on a road trip, and this was a nice spot to hang out at and do some people watching. It worked well as both a coffee shop to hang out at with a laptop and a restaurant to enjoy with friends. Both the food and the coffee were good. There was definitely a lunch rush while we were there, and the place seemed to get a lot of working people from the building across the street. My only complaint: the people who work there really weren't that friendly. If it wasn't for that, I would have given the place five stars and would look forward to going there again.
(4)Rebecca N.
Great location and atmosphere. Staff is friendly, helpful, and patient if you're not sure what you want. It's fantastic to see a local company supporting other small businesses both locally and internationally.
(4)Charles S.
Tulsa is blessed to have two well known coffee roasters. (There are more I'm sure please forgive me if I forgot someone).-For this I rejoice. I consider myself to be serious about coffee and it's quality. Topeca was recommended to me by some serious coffee people. I made a special note to go enjoy this Tulsa hotspot. When I arrived the baristas were kind and but didn't seem to know much about the coffee selection. This I understand is not the norm for Topeca so that was easy to look past. I will tell you the coffee was enjoyable. Definitely one of the top coffees I have had in Tulsa, OK. My over all experience was not the best, I'd give it a 2/5-3/5, but the quality of the coffee made that better. Thank you Topeca for giving Tulsa your best.
(3)Samuel S.
I have had coffee all over the world. I was nervous about finding good coffee in Tulsa. No need to fret! Delicious coffee and tasty treats make this a perfect morning stop.
(5)Trevor H.
Great location, I work nearby & have been dozens of times. Those who know me, know I am cuckoo for another shop's cocoa puffs ( yelp.com/biz/doubleshot-… ). Nevertheless I've had a number of serviceable cups over the years at Topeca. I like their vibe. I even had a decent pourover last week. For taste of the core product, I am spoiled & it really isn't a fair fight. In terms of selecting/ roasting the beans on site/ profile of the beans selected--DS has my number. Like at most shops, I taste too much smoke & char, and not enough chocolate & floral from their beans. But on the whole, this place has a decent overall assortment. Baked goods are solid (blondie FTW!). Have a good assortment of breakfast: quiches, pastries, oatmeal); and tons of lunch choices: soup-salad-sammies-and *SUSHI.* There's probably a joke in there, akin to the gas-station-sushi reference: but this ain't QT sushi--it's from Yokozuna! Topeca illustrates how blessed we young(er) professional-types are. When it opened its doors ~ 5 yrs ago, the BOK Ctr was in its early years, and downtown turned into a ghost-town promptly at 5:00 each weekday evening. Since, we've had bustling events/ reopening of the mayo/ a bunch of Justin Thompson restaurants picking up the game of downtown dining/ a cooler vibe throughout the area. Vive la revolution, Tulsa (where are my accent-marks when needed?) !
(3)Devin B.
I have been traveling all over several states looking for decent coffee and choose the best reviewed on Yelp. But I am disappointed 90% of the time. What is it about America that people don't understand coffee like they do in Europe or Australia ? However the good news is that Topeca Coffee in Tulsa met my expectations 100%. Finally a Cortado the way it is supposed to be made !
(5)Melissa B.
Topeca has hands down the best coffee in Tulsa. I adore coffee. I drink coffee every morning and occasionally in the evening on weekends. For a treat, my husband and I always like to go to Topeca. Not only is the coffee outstanding but the atmosphere is great. They have the best barista's in town.
(5)James F.
This is the best coffee I've had in Tulsa. I ordered and iced coffee with milk, but the barista either didn't hear me forgot the milk. I took a sup and rather than complain I was thankful. I've never had coffee that tasted so great. It's got a nice atmosphere and decor. I'm definitely planning on coming back again. If you are looking for a coffee shop while you are downtown I highly recommend this place.
(4)Sandy E.
Excellent coffee, friendly service. I only wish they had more healthy, grain free food options.
(5)Nathan T.
I enjoy this shop. They are over priced by an arm and a leg, but if your pockets are full it's a great place to relax. Typically not extremely busy and they have great comfortable seating to go along with their decent coffee. Look for the red headed barista, he makes a solid Americano. Wish they were open later.
(3)Fadec E.
Because I travel a lot, I'm always looking for a nice coffee house where I could enjoy a latte, have a breakfast sandwich, read and relax. This place was a perfect match! Very friendly staff, the place was clean and organized. It's truly a relaxing atmosphere.
(5)Zain K.
What I like: Truly *outstanding* coffee, interesting furniture (glass table tops with coffee bean inlays), nice ambiance, central location, friendly service. What I don't: $4.50 for a 16 oz americano?? In Tulsa?? Something is amiss with the pricing here... (also, no Equal, which is a pet peeve of mine)
(3)Pixie M.
I have been here several times. I'm not a coffee drinker but I come here for the sushi that is delivered from Yokozuna on week days and the juices and pastries. The staff is friendly and always nice to small talk with. The cafe is on the ground floor of the Mayo hotel and is cozy. They also have wifi.
(5)Amy K.
I was looking forward to trying a local coffee joint while in town for business. I ordered the french press coffee and a bowl of homemade granola with yogurt. The granola was AMAZING, and was the perfect breakfast item. My french press was smooth, but not the greatest coffee I've had. However, this is definitely a great option for your morning java. Great staff and free wifi top it all off :)
(5)Chris A.
Good atmosphere in the historic Mayo building. Friendly staff. The coffee is somewhat lacking, in my opinion. It's okay, but it's pretty much always the same with little variation. They import the beans from one country and roast them in town. The prices are a bit on the high side, but what can you expect? All in all, this place has a good vibe. It's very downtown business oriented, not the kind of place you find gigs or a lot of college kids hanging out and whatnot.
(4)A B.
Who knew that one of the best coffee houses in America would be in Tulsa OK? I always make sure I stop by when I'm in Tulsa. I have literally changed my flight plans in order to stop at this coffeeshop. It's that good.
(5)Ryan F.
Friendly, inviting atmosphere with a great menu and fresh coffee. I would definitely recommend the quiche... delicious.
(5)Elyssa W.
Simply the best. Love their staff, ambiance, food, and coffee. I will come here every time I'm in the Tulsa area.
(5)Drew B.
So I have to start out with the fact that I am biased. I am a die hard McDonald's coffee fan. I met a friend here for coffee before a tech conference. Keeping in line with other "coffee shops" Topeca is very similar. You can get all the usual types of coffee, espresso, etc. They also have baked items on the menu. The place is clean and prices are reasonable. The only drag is parking. I guess if you worked in a building nearby that wouldn't be an issue. If you are just wanting to stop in and grab a cup of coffee and the leave, you have to find a spot, and walk.
(4)Sarah B.
Best brew ever !!! Excellent service !! Always clean . The coffee is my favorite coffee in Tulsa. Nothing like it! They always have new dessert. There's always room to sit. Love it
(5)Chuck K.
Good coffee house and good for a fast breakfast. Not lots of fancy coffee drinks but your basic coffee, expresso with a few of the more common variants. The food is the same, basic quick breakfast fare of muffins, brownies, granola (which the make themselves and is GREAT) and breakfast sandwiches. But while the choices are limited the taste of the results is fantastic.
(5)Tanner H.
Tulsans are seriously spoiled with their spread of solid coffee shops. I'd never stopped by Topeca Coffee, but a client project had me nearby. If you're staying at The Mayo (which is pretty damn awesome BTW) or working downtown, Topeca Coffee is a good stop. But, it won't be my go-to here in T-Town. The friendly staff is great, but my latte wasn't that good. I also bought a bag of beans to try out at home. I'm used to paying more than $11/bag, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt. I'm a Jeremy Charles fan ( jeremycharles.com ) and some of his work with Topeca Coffee is prominently displayed, so there's that...
(3)Paul S.
Great latte. I'm a bit of a coffee snob and look to find good local coffees while traveling (can't stand the bland overheated chain coffee places). I ordered both a latte and an Americano. Both made well and with care by very kind staff
(4)Alison P.
Great espresso! Bonus that the beans come from their own farm. Very good coffee shop that also has food and baked goods--though none that are gluten free. One of my favorite 2 coffee shops in Tulsa (Foolish Things being the other). The baristas are well trained and nice. The espresso was smooth, full of crema with good mouth feel and tasted good.
(4)Micheal P.
The whole own the farm, harvest the beans, roast the coffee, brew the cup business is interesting. And if that's what gets you into this place, fine. But that's not why this place gets 5 stars. Consistently good coffee, a variety of milk offerings (i.e. almond milk), made to order crepes and paninis, and homemade baked goods are the reasons I keep driving back to this place whenever I'm in Tulsa.
(5)Robert H.
DO NOT GO HERE! UNLESS YOU LIKE COFFEE! I don't know what they do to their coffee but it is delicious! It's like crack so, unless you can support the habit, I would suggest going to a boring chain. Don't ask for a caramel macchiato or you will be asked to leave. Not really, but this isn't your gimmicky foo foo coffee shop. This is serious espresso, coffee and teas. Perhaps the best cup of espresso in Tulsa! Oh, and you have to try the Quiche and the Crepes! The Quiche is made right there and is they use the freshest ingredients. P.S. The best thing about Jury Duty is Topeca! Love it, Love it, Love it
(5)Scot C.
Sometimes you happen upon these places with little insight or intention, but walk away feeling like you should have know for years about its hidden greatness. That's how felt after visiting Topeca on a recent business trip to Tulsa... The Coffee: single origin, family owned farm in South America. This makes for one hellova controlled cup of coffee. The downside is that you limit your coffee to just that - one farm. Great idea the outside, complex on the inside. However, the coffee is EXCELLENT! I only had one cup of their daily brew, but enjoyed about 4 capaccinos in one visit! Hands down, the best cappaccino I've ever had. Esppresso: rich, flavorful, dark, and complex; Milk: steamed to perfection with just the right amount of foam. I tell you, simply the best cappuccino(s) ever. I liked them so much I decided to buy a bag of their espresso to enjoy at the machine at work (which was also amazing). The establishment is also very nice; modern and contemporary with a touch of nostalgia. I appreciate the decor a lot, especially the coffee bean table tops. Their espresso machine is also something to behold. I enjoyed this experience a lot; next time I'm in Tulsa I WILL be going back. Thanks Topeca!
(5)Kassie P.
This is my second favorite cup of coffee in town (Cafe Cabana is the first). The food is fantastic. Admittedly it has been awhile since I've been down there, but the last time I was there I ordered a Crepe. I don't normally order Crepes, but they have a chicken crepe with white sauce that is so satisfying :) When downtown, this is THE place for coffee. Parking can be tricky, but park, it's worth it!
(4)Knuckles G.
Really great care in providing a fantastic cup of coffee! Staff was very helpful and kind. I ordered the pumpkin latte and a cinnamon roll. Let me just say with the explosions of pumpkin flavored coffees out there this one was by far the best I absolutely enjoyed the PUMKIN essence! There was no over doing it on the flavoring. Truly a wonderful example of what that seasonal flavor should be!
(5)Memphis P.
Great coffee shop with excellent service. They have a great pastry selection and some are gluten free. Also, there's a highest coffee selection and they are made to perfection.
(5)Christine F.
It's the day after a wedding, I'm tired and I have a flight in 2 hours. First thing on my to-do list? COFFEE. I needed some noms and caffeine to get me going, so I headed down into the lobby of our hotel where Topeca is. I got a SF vanilla soy latte (I'm high maintenance, deal with it) and I got my husband a regular black coffee. Both were tasty, hot and ready in a snap. Topeca is a great spot for a fast cup o' joe (or a fancy cup of joe, if you're me).
(4)Thom C.
Love it
(5)Laura H.
Great local coffee shop chain. This location is adjacent to Mayo Hotel. Casual and stylish, it's a comfortable place to hang out. Also check out their pastries, snacks, soup and sandwiches, even sushi!
(4)Brian B.
Best coffee I've had in the U.S. As far as price goes, sure it's not cheap but good coffee isn't cheap and I love supporting the little guy. The people here are awesome too. Try it. You'll like it!
(4)Jim B.
Fantastic local downtown coffee shop. Go Local!
(5)Venkata M.
Nice lounge with comfy sofas and ambiance, very friendly baristas, good selection of serving coffee including french press and most importantly decent coffee.
(4)jylle e.
Best americano I have ever HAD. Countries I have had americano's/espresso in: Italy (all over) Sweden (obviously meh) England Austria Germany Switzerland Holland Czech Republic Slovakia (with vodka) Poland (with more vodka) Denmark America San Francisco This was by far the best. Absolutely go out of your way to stop by. Incredible, world class coffee in Oklahoma is like 4 awesome stories in one, hit it up.
(5)Chris H.
I love their mocha frappe. I would for sure take their coffee over Starbucks any day. Only wish their prices were a little lower.
(4)Bruce E.
Good coffee and friendly staff. Comfortable atmosphere but can be busy in the mornings with downtown workers and hotel guest. Lunch is the time for the excellent curried chicken salad. Can have as a salad or sandwich. I wish breakfast offerings weren't as limited although the quiche is excellent.
(4)Donald M.
It's not unusal for me to travel up to 20 minutes from where I'm staying when travelng to find a good latte so Topeca was a nice surprise since we were staying in the Mayo. Excellent lattes and chais. They also offer a small selection of pastries, breakfast items, crepes, salads and sandwiches. I looked up several alternatives in the Tulsa area but never bothered. The family that owns Topeca appaprently owns the plantations in El Salvador that supply their shops.
(5)Spika P.
Good, good, good.
(5)Liz K.
Topeca earns 5 stars for service, fresh food, cheap prices, seed-to-cup concept, and creative artwork/decorations. I only detract a star because I would prefer a little more variation in flavor of the coffee (although I do realize that's a product of the seed-to-cup concept). In any case, definitely the best bet for breakfast or lunch while you're staying at the Mayo.
(4)Mindy G.
Outstanding. Stopped in for coffee after running the Tulsa Run. The best mocha I have ever had. Yogurt parfait was delicious as well. Also great service, super friendly!! Wish there were more locations!!
(5)Rod S.
Eat here on a weekly basis, and really love the curry chicken salad. They will put it on a croissant if you prefer. I had some coffee questions and I believe it was the owner that took me through the process of making an espresso and recommending a great grinder. Nice people, easy relaxed environment, great location downtown, and just serious coffee.
(4)Amy V.
I love this coffee shop downtown! I have been in numerous times since I moved here a few months ago and feel very comfortable working from here on my computer. The barista Nick was very friendly and made sure I got exactly what I wanted even offering to make me something different if it wasn't exactly what I wanted. He even brought my drink out to my table and had a chat with me "from one coffee aficionado to another" he said;). He went over and beyond what I expected in great customer service to make my day. Not to mention, the cappuccino was amazing and had beautiful rosetta art with the best velvety microfoam froth on top. What a lovely experience. Everyone is always friendly here too not just Nick:)
(5)Jael H.
I hereby pledge my undying love for Topeca! I love the seed-to-cup concept, meaning the family who owns the shop owns the plantation in El Salvador where the beans are grown too. There is something oddly romantic about being involved at every step of the process. The espresso has a smooth texture and a hint of fruitiness to it that's really pleasant. The coffee is bold and rich and delicious. The one drawback is the lack of diversity that a seed-to-cup process inevitably imposes. Regionally, Central American beans usually make for a cup of coffee that is light or medium bodied and slightly acidic, which is good stuff, but can't really offer the earthiness of something like an Ethiopian or Indonesian. I'll still come to Topeca almost exclusively, but times that I'm craving some variety I'll have to look elsewhere.
(4)A W O L.
I order a dirty Chai Latte here in Tulsa and when I travel. Have good experiences at both coffee houses and Indian resturants. Topeca makes the best. Returned and tried again. Again the best. Nice location, casual and professional in the same setting.
(5)Jimmy C.
Absolutely Fantastic Coffee! Completely blows any Starbucks out of the water(coffee). Ready for a coffee pun? Let me just spill the beans... I tried two variations of their famous coffee and both were great but I did not try their bakery, which looks absolutely incredible as well. Props! Comfortable lounge area as well, fancy coffee bean tables (: I want more!!!
(5)Derrick L.
Nice waiting staff. Good coffee/quiche/pastries. I'll go back.
(4)Mike D.
Good chai latte, sandwiches. Prices a little stiff for what is pretty standard fare.
(4)Brendan L.
This is specifically for the Topeca at the Hyatt. Quality of coffee and food is five stars. Service, a resounding one star. On random occassions Topeca refuses to give me my double espresso to go. Apparently the paper cup damages the espresso, and offending the coffee god is more important than offending the preferences of a paying customer (and a very steady one at that). Message to the management: you make damn good coffee, but if you can't get over yourselves customers won't like you. That's how business works. I doubt the Salvadoreno family living off your sales would appreciate the holier-than-thou attitude either. I'm dropped a good 20 dollars a day at your shop for nearly two months. Not coming back.

Coming from Orlando, FL (the beautiful, touristy, franchise capital of the world), I was not looking forward to waking up with Starbucks while visiting my boyfriend in Tulsa. We checked out Urban Spoon and found this little joint called Topeca Coffee in downtown Tulsa which had fantastic reviews. Super excited, we went there and truly experienced the most velvety, smooth, rich coffee I think I've ever tasted! The "see to cup" process really makes the coffee flavor unique and gives the baristas a sense of pride. The atmosphere wasn't anything special, in light of it being a downtown coffee shop, but they had a cheap version of "jenga" which my boyfriend and I enjoyed playing after devouring a scrumptious, giant cinnamon roll and egg sammie. Overall, probably the best coffee east of Seattle (I wouldn't know, never been) and a great example of local culture and pride. Would definitely go back and would LOVE to see one open here in Orlando. PS - They sell the coffee in Whole Foods Markets too! : )
(5)Mark C.
Topeca is the only "seed to cup" coffee shop in the United States, which sounds fairly impressive initially...and it is, sort of. "Seed to cup" simply means that the family that owns the shop also owns the plantation where the beans are grown. This is pretty cool in the sense that the family is dedicated to sourcing. It also probably means that they look out for the laborers on their farms and have a vested interest in the host country. In terms of coffee, however, there is a reason why no one has ever done this before. Simply put, a roaster often uses beans from different plantations to craft unique flavored roasts. Beans sourced from the same locale have a tendency to all taste more or less the same. It is the same thing as with wine, basically. In wine, people talk about the "terroir" or earth. Different locales offer up different flavors in a coffee bean or a grape. It is an interesting experiment, but one that goes against common sense. Topeca's coffees are, truth be told, pretty darn good. They tend to hit one or two flavor notes really, really well, though sometimes lacking in complexity. As for the experience of going to Topeca, that doesn't really matter so much to me. The food is good and the staff is capable...the coffee is great.
(4)Peter C.
I knew I was facing disappointment if her answer was, "no," but I knew I had to ask the barista if there was a way I could bring a piece of Topeca home with me to Fort Worth. Luckily her co-worker was restocking at that moment the bags of freshly-roasted beans that I eagerly purchased. No kidding, the beans were roasted only a few days before my purchase of them. Find THAT at Starbucks! I'm a fellow who is hard to impress, but when strolling around downtown Tulsa one day while passing through town, I found Topeca coffee and struck gold. Sitting at the street-level of some architectural gems, Topeca is not only the shop but also the owners of the plantation on which their beans are grown. The place has an open feel that invites one to come in and roam on the internet or chat with friends. I don't know what I enjoyed more in Tulsa; the lovely examples of art deco architecture or this coffee shop. Either way at least I can brew a cup of their coffee back home here in Texas and will enjoy it here as well.
(5)Ken K.
Mmmmmm! Fresh, black, coffee. Tastes so good, you don't have to hide the flavor with anything. Pure and simple.
(5)Chris P.
Im a huge fan of topeca from the first time i tried it. The coffee is delicious, the staff is very knowledgeable and always willing to answer any questions that I have about what to get. I would 100% reccomend this coffee shop to anyone in Tulsa. the only complaint i have is the location, although it's awesome that it's in the downtown area located inside the historic Mayo hotel, it makes it a little difficult to locate and access as parking is at a minimum. put one in South Tulsa!!! haha :)
(5)Tom R.
Great cup of coffee. I didn't even have to put cream in it. For me that is the test of a great cup of coffee.

Come here for the crepes! Giant & delish they can be split by 2 people easily. The cinnamon buns are also really good. Skip the paninis! The veggies on the inside of my panini weren't even warm and the crepes are so much more flavorful. Beware- if you want you food warmed to go, they will heat your food up in styrofoam in the microwave!

Spacious, great ambience, downtown location is convenient. Employees were very friendly and helpful, and the espresso was unreal.

Holy caffeine, Batman. The large Iced Americano has 6 shots of expresso. Feeling a bit like Beavis.....cappuccino, cappuccino! Tour the cool hotel lobby. Wow, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Muse, Doobie Bros, and a Celtic Fiddle Festival all in a two week span? Nice, Tulsa!

This is a wonderful coffee house. The lunches are very classy for a coffee house and the actual coffee is the second best in town. It probably has to do with the owners importing their coffee direct fro where they come from.

Since (end of may '09) the Mayo Hotel is under construction, people are walking around with hardhats all around and the entrance to Topeca is somewhat tricky to find.... but I find it was worth the extra effort. Iced Americano is my warm weather drink and I was satisfied. The seating was comfortable, and, par-for-the-course for a good coffee shop... free wifi.

Probably the best latte since I've been travelling in the USA. Great, helpful staff. I would almost drive from OKC back to Tulsa just for a coffee.

This is a great coffee shop in downtown Tulsa. The most amazing part is they own the plantation in El Salvador. The beans are fresh and roasted here in town. You can even buy bagged beans and grounds. Their drinks are so rich and flavorful, they put the homogeneous offering of the chain shops to shame. They offer all the standard coffee shop fare and add tasty cafe lunches. I'm generally a "just coffee" drinker and am never disappointed in what I get but have also been willing to expand into other drinks and they are wonderfully done. I have spent years complaining that downtown needed a really good coffee shop and now there is one. So if you are in downtown Tulsa and need a better cup of joe than your office coffee pot offers, then go to Topeca.

Only being in Tulsa for a couple days I was afraid I'd be condemned to Starbucks or some other fate. In steps Topeca, just a few blocks from my hotel. Great espresso drinks and free (but a bit spotty) wifi. Definitely a go-to place for coffee people in Tulsa.

I had lunch here today and already regret not buying a bag of their fresh-roasted beans to take home. I think the coffee has a really great flavor--it's distinct, but it doesn't assault you like it does at a lot of mainstream coffee houses--doesn't have that "burned" taste to it. I liked the atmosphere. I wish there were something like this where I live--I have a feeling I would do a lot of studying there. I thought the paninis were pretty good. Just FYI, they don't tell you that the paninis each come with a special sauce. If you're picky about these things, you should ask about it.

This coffee house is full of cool, earthy tones and has a variety of seating options whether your there to study, get some work done, socialize, or just relax. The coffee was good, not Intellegentsia good, but tasty and fresh. There are a number of pre-maid foods to choose from both salty and sweet and it looks like they can cook up some crepes for you. The staff was friendly and it was not that crowded on a Saturday afternoon. Oh, and they have plenty of local publications to choose from so you can catch up on local happenings or you can choose from a number of books on the shelf to read. Might be a cool place for a book club to meet or a knit night!
