It is a little surprising that it takes so long to get a table, given that the food is only average. The service is ok, but not outstanding. I'm not sure what the appeal is, but I know people who think Ted's is the best. The queso is good, so we were able to occupy ourselves while we waited for our food. They do have complimentary sopapillas, which isn't the norm any more in Mexican places, so we enjoyed the throwback to earlier days of Mexican restaurants. Another throwback is that they provide soft tortillas with the chips for snacking while you wait. That takes me back a few decades to when El Charito was our standard Mexican place. I don't even think they had free chips back then, just soft tortillas with butter and runny salsa.

Absolutely terrible, this is not a real Mexican restaurant but a wanna be one. Not even close. They should be ashamed what they charge at this establishment for the product they put out. maybe in a few months after they have been open they will get better but I doubt it.

No MtNdew & No Tea!!! Free Chips & Queso... Its free Because its like dipping your chips in dirty water... Im not sure how the food teast because mine was wrong... & By the time someone came to the table so i could tell "them i cant eat this take it back"my husband & kids was half way done eating... They said "oh we'll get it fixed & put it in a to-go box for you"... all I could think is "to take home & eat cold & by myself" I'd rather not!!! Feed the to-go box to my dog & I'm now having a bowl of cereal! We WONT be back!!!

Have been a fan of these guys since my buddy turned me on to them 25 years ago in OKC. Great salsa and enchiladas! Love the Ted's style Tecate too! Wish they wouldn't have discontinued the a la carte menu but still a great place to Mexican. Great staff at the Tulsa Hills location too!

Ted's is not good Mexian, nor is it good Tex-Mex. It's some bizarre Okla-Mex which, frankly, is extremely underwhelming and overpriced. Free queso is nice; too bad it's extremely mediocre.

I went here with my husband and kids to eat dinner. The place was pack with ppl, thinking that was good. When a place is pack you would think that it is good. NOT So... only thing that we like was the dessert Sopaillas (Quick Bread that you tear and put honey inside,if you want to). I am still wonder why was this place so busy with food like that. I won't be going back, not of my own choice.

I'll start by saying the service was excellent. That was all that was excellent and the only reason it gets two instead of one star. Everything I tasted at our table was bland. I never have to add salt to anything at restaurants but found the salt shaker my best friend here. I expected some spice somewhere but even salsa tasted like it had nothing but tomatoes and onions only. I had a ground beef and bean burrito and the tortilla was so soft it turned to mush. I couldn't locate the bean part. The frozen burritos I get from Walmart are better. The refried beans tasted like they were from a can and mixed with water. The rice had zero taste with a few tomatoes mixed in. The complimentary queso had so little flavor that I think the movie theater nachos I made the mistake of getting once tasted better. The saving grace was that I got a sopapilla at the end.

My best friend and girlfriend love Ted's. I eat there at least once a week sometimes twice. Our most recent visit was last night. The waite staff is always attentive and helpful, they really take care of you here. The staff recognize regulars and know our drink orders and likes/dislikes. The chips, salsa, and queso came quickly as do the complimentary tortillas. I absolutely love the corn con crema, and most of the food is really good. Understand that this is not really authentic mexican food is is very americanized. Ted's provides a repeatable, enjoyable experience. We always end our meal with complimentary sopapillas. The food is decent, not the best Mexican in town, but all of the complimentary additions make it well worth the money.

Last ate here on 8.5.15. I reccomend you eat in the bar area. The service is fantastic (ask for Danielle), and the music is better. I had the crunchy tacos with fajita chicken. I highlty reccomend the place for a quick lunch.

Good Okie-Mex food, good service and ridiculous prices for what it is...$12 bucks for one tamale and refried beans...come-on get real!

The beef fajitas were terrible and tasted like they were marinated in soy sauce, the rice was dry and a bit crunchy, the best part of the whole thing was the salsa. I had the tacos al carbon and they were quick to come out, but the tortillas were mushy and falling apart. The staff was very polite and helpful, but the VERY HIGH PRICES didn't reflect the quality of the food. My wife had the beef fajitas, and I had the tacos al carbon, with iced tea and a coke, total meal was $35! If you want great Mexican food, I would recommend Abuelos, off 169 s and 71st

The salsa is fantastic, the service is good, the tortillas were great, but the rest of the food tasted close to fast food. The cheese sauce looks and tastes like its out of a can. I had a chile relleno and they smothered it with this cheese sauce (yuck). I also had a taco, and spinach enchilada. Overall the food was very average. Lastly the price is too high for the quality.

Teds is THE best Mexican restaurant in Tulsa. In my opinion. The food is always good and fresh. The service is excellent. The servers work together to make sure you're happy. This one is a bit smaller than the one I usually go to in Broken Arrow, but the food was just as good and the service was perfect. My favorite food is the fajitas, but I also like the tacos. What really sets Ted's apart to me is the setup before the meal. They put out soft, warm, freshly made flour tortillas, which I lather with gobs of real butter - yes, real butter, not a spread!. In addition, they offer handmade salsa (hot relish-like ones on request), hot cheese sauce, and tortilla chips. Some are hotter than the others; some are chunky. I'm not a big fan of the relish ones, but my daughter loves them. By the time I get to the meal, I'm already a satisfied customer!

This is actually a great restaurant. I've been here before a few years ago and it didn't really wow me so it was a while before I came back. I've sat at the bar top and in the dining area and the service is great every time ago. Thats a big part in why I keep going back so much. Every server has been friendly, and super attentive. The chips and queso are delicious and I'm a creature of habit so I usually get the fajitas which are great as well. They have good kids options, as well as complimentary sopapillas at the end of your meal. All in all this is a great place to go eat with friends or to bring your kids.

They load you down with chips, salsa, and queso. The chips are good, but the salsa and queso both have a strange consistency. Other reviews have talked about the blandness of the food. Well, I've never experienced that personally. Anything I've had here has been very flavorful, although their menu doesn't give you many entre choices. Extra star for free sopapillas!!!

Awesome food and better service. Enchiladas are delicious and packed with meat/cheese. I(like 90% of the yelp community) have never been to old Mexico and sampled "real" Mexican cuisine. But, as a big eater who loves tex/mex. This place is as good or better then any I have sampled all over the U.S. Can't wait to come back. Why only 4 stars? 4.99 draught domestic beers. Come to Ted's. Order a beer "Ted style" and enjoy your evening. You won't regret it.

Ted's is always a great place to get dinner with the family. It isn't my favorite Mexican food around, but the service is always PHENOMENAL and all the complimentary extras are great when you're going out on a budget! *I have gotten the Chicken Monterey several times and it's always cheesy and delicious, but I would say my favorite dish is the Tacos Carbon. So good.

Colin has always loved Ted's so this review may divide our household for a bit but it'll take something big for me to come here again. Inside Ted's is some kitschy decor and it is kept pretty clean. Our server was delightful. Now, the food. Everything from the chips, to the queso, to the entrees was bland. I had the chicken fajita taco salad. The chicken was flavorless and the lettuce wasn't crisp. I really want to like it but I feel like I have regrets every time I load up on probably 1,000 calories without thoroughly enjoying it. Know what I mean?

This is in the very back (South side) of Tulsa Hills, a bit removed from the rest. They do to-go orders and large catering at the front. We were seated quickly even though the place was packed. Our service was great, with many different people bringing chips/salsa and clearing plates. Our server Jack was friendly, and read our orders back to us (including everything that came with them) which I liked. He seemed like he wanted to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. The good: Free queso, homemade tortillas, and sopapillas. Just ok: The entrees. The food here seems cheap and lacks a lot. I'll go back if someone else really wanted to, but wouldn't recommend or choose it again.

Recently opened Mexican restaurant in Tulsa Hills. Unfortunately, after an hour wait to get in we were very disappointed in the food. The chips and free queso were good. The salsa was bland. Husband ordered a beef fajita taco salad and found just a few pieces of shredded beef instead of fajita meat. Meat was very dry and tasteless. Huge disappointment with PLATO GORDO, which was a taco, chile relleno and an enchilada .The taco had very little meat and was tasteless. The big disappointment was the chile relleno and enchilada which were drowning in a soup of chili con carne. It was mostly chili con carne soup with a chili relleno and an enchilada buried within. The rest of the plate was a sea of yucko refried beans. Service was very good!

Yes, Ted's gives you a lot of 'free' food but the quality in the entree's just isn't there. My daughter didn't even like her basic taco. The wait staff is so efficient and very nice but Ted's needs to work on their menu. I'm willing to wait for a quality meal that isn't bland.

I eat at Teds once or twice a month because I live 40 miles from Tulsa but everytime I'm in town I want Teds!! I love the food and so does my husband, it's awesome that you get complimentary salsa, queso, tortillas, AND sopapillas! It's all delicious and I have never been disappointed with the food or service. I really like their spinach quesadilla and the fajita salad and my husband likes their burritos usually he feels like a burrito is not big enough but these are filling, and the service has always been good too!! This is my all time favorite Mexican restaurant we have tried other places and I always end up feeling like its not as good as Teds.

We frequently go to the Broken Arrow location, but decided to give this location a try for a Friday night. We got there around 8:00 and our party of 4 was seated quickly. We were promptly given our fresh tortillas, chips, salsa, and queso. I went with the Mexican Flag, which comes with three enchiladas. I also subbed pinto beans for the refried beans (which was a great choice!). The food was really good, as always. Our service was kind of spotty throughout the night, but after a long wait on a second set of drinks, we were given an apology and the drinks were comped.

Traditional Tex-Mex at it's finest, when it's time for your "fix" this is the place. The place is reliable and food consistent, the service always friendly and atmosphere like a short trip to old Mexico. The "Pollo Especial" is my favorite, grilled chicken with peppers, onions and extra cheesy. The quesadilla is a close second, crisp on the outside soft and warm and flavorful inside. Save room for the complimentary sopapillas, light with just the right cinnamon and sugar topping, the perfect end to the perfect meal.

I appreciate the comment sir. It's a busy week this week but I will call next week if you wish for the feedback. I will say even though the cheese was a flour bomb it can be said that at least it must be home/fresh made.

Their chips, quest, and hommade tortillas never fail! This location was very crowded when I went. I love getting the set-up to go so I can take it to work and share with friends. There is plenty for that and it keeps fairly well.

Ted's is not the best Mexican food in Tulsa in my opinion, but it is good. The bathroom was big and clean and tiled everywhere and had fancy contemporary glass sinks. Service was very good for our dinner and offered complimentary chips, salsa, cheese dip, sopapillas etc. My biggest complaint was the lighting was too bright. If they could just dim the lights a little it would help a lot.

Just ate here last weekend and loved it. We were fortunate to get the server who trains all the other servers. He was really really good - like being at a resort or on a cruise. This place is the only one I've been to that provides salsa (hot or mild) and cheese free with chips that are bottomless. Food was great and the atmosphere was what it should be for a fun Mexican restaurant. Free dessert tops it all. I highly recommend.

The service was absolutely amazing. Our server was Ashley. My food wasn't right,. The manager quickly took action to correct the issue. We had more food than we could handle. The drinks were constantly full, tons of chips, salsa and cheese dip. The food was excellent and the prices were very good. We had never been before and will definitely be back. Our one year old also loved it and the kids menu was very nice and large portions. Wonderful service.

Really the only thing that comes to mind first is that I was blown away by my experience. I just moved to the Tulsa area a couple months ago and now I have found my favorite tex-mex place to go! I sat at the bar, since I was dining by myself, and the service was excellent. Alberto treated me like I was a king. I ordered the patron margarita and it was very delicious. I'm not one to normally to drink patron, but I can make an exception here. The chips with salsa and queso were bountiful. Be careful though, that spicy salsa can kick you know where. I ordered the chicken fajita enchiladas with the corn and potatoes, and my oh my ¡delicioso! Definitely recommend to try it. After it was all said and done, then came out the free dessert. A very nice sweet end to my dinner! All in all, I really enjoyed my first time here! I will definitely be back again. Especially since I noticed that Alberto was also a trainer as well, if having Alberto as a trainer then I know the next time I come back whoever is at the bar or at my table I will be treated with the same service. So good job, you have my five star blessing!

I'm not a big fan of Mexican food or at least the American Tex-Mex variety, I do appreciate a pretty cheesy enchilada every now and then. I was surprised at myself for even suggesting going here for a late lunch following an adventure in furniture shopping. I've been to a Ted's a few times before and while I can't say the food is outstanding, it is more than just acceptable. In all honesty, I don't know what I'm giving this place 4 stars. I went for the pick your own combo. Got a shredded beef taco, a chicken taco, and a chicken echilada with crema sauce. All the condiments are fresh, plenty of food, that is probably under seasoned on purpose. It probably has something to do with the general charm and experience. Watching the tortillas being made. Being given unlimited warm flour tortillas and cheese. Having complimentary sopapillas doesn't hurt either. For first time visitors are non-frequent patrons, if you go during peak hours (lunch and dinner) you can expect to wait a long time.

I know, I know...I hear from my Latino friends that it is not "authentic", buts Ted's is still AWESOME!!! First of all, the service is par excellence; an amazing amount of attentive staff on hand. It ranks very high on this scale. I have been to $50 plate steakhouses that couldn't beat this for staff. Second, as soon as you are seated you become inundated with all kinds of goodies; queso, salsa, chips, tortillas, etc. It can make it difficult to concentrate on the menu because you are busy stuffing your watering mouth. Speaking of menus...I found myself stuck on the Wet Burrito. It was that good that I ordered it on nearly each repeat visit. Your drinks don't have an opportunity to become empty as refills are nearly as fast as thoughts. Let's not forget the sopapillas! Yummy! A mommy's nightmare and a kid's dream (big kids too!) Would definitely visit again (unless my Latino friends pay & take me out to something more "authentic". :-)

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
