Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

This charming trattoria was the perfect place for my lunch date yesterday! The staff was welcoming and friendly, service was quick and seem less. I had the Cobb salad which was delightful (can't wait to have it again) and my date tried one of the the flat breads (pizza). We were both extremely happy with the food and can't wait to go back!

Nice. Decor.Small but cozy. Service was good but could have been better.more attentive. Moderate portions of food. New preporation of Italian food. Not the usual dishes. Will go again.

Have been multiple times and each time I've been it has gotten better. They now have a tasting menu that is superb that is with or without a wine paring.

My wife and I ate hear last night for my birthday. We have been wanting to try it for a couple months now and were exited about our first visit. We made reservations and were promptly seated upstairs with one other table who already had there entrees. The service was great but the food and atmosphere left a lot to be desired. For our we started with the bruschetta trio, one of each. The traditional one was the only one that I would say had a great flavor profile but the bread was great. They were out of the ravioli, which was my first choice, so I quickly decided on the scallops BAD CHOICE! In my haste, I must have overlooked the pancetta because I don't eat pork or beef and would have picked something else. I also mistook sweetbread for bread and was surprised when my server informed it was cow innards after I ate it! The scallops were cooked perfectly but the sweet potatoes were nearly raw and required a knife and fork to cut through. I left most of them on my plate along with the garnish (parsley?) which through off the whole flavor profile IMO. My wife was also not impressed by her lobster pasta (I thought it was better than my entree). Because they were out of the ravioli we were offered a free dessert. We got the tiramisu. It was good except for the two pieces of candied lemon peel that my wife and I both pulled from our teeth. Now on to the atmosphere, I was looking forward to sitting upstairs for some privacy. I figure that the hostess did that for us. However, the other table (two couples in there mid-late 30s) became increasingly loud and belligerent the entire time we were there. Because there was no way of avoiding it, I was subjected to conversation that included one woman's boob job and her adolescent desire to be a stripper after watching 'Flash Dance'. The conversation had digressed into a drunk karaoke with the woman singing badly at the top of her lungs using her smartphone as he backing track. The table even had the balls to sarcastically apologize for ruining our evening. Which they did. I DO NOT believe that this behavior is common at the restaurant but it is ONE of the reasons I WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

First I must say I would of like to give this place a better rating than what I did. The ambiance is great. The lunch menu was very affordable considering how upscale this restaurant is. The food: delicious and a nice portion for what you pay. However based on my experience the service was not very good. Our waiter was great however the kitchen had some confusion which delayed our service to our table. With that being said I hope it was an isolated incident, and I strongly recommend you stop in for a nice lunch or romantic dinner.

Fresh made pasta to die for! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was romantic... But limited on the privacy factor. We were seated at a small table in the corner by the door to the hotel and kitchen. It felt a little crampt, and took away from the privacy of our own conversation being so close to another table/group. There seemed to be only 1 waiter working, and he truly busted his hump for the place, but it took away some of the promptness and ability to signal him back to your table if you needed anything. Thumbs down on the cannoli for dessert, with such authentic pasta I felt the dessert would be too; wrong.

I tried this place for the first time on Valentine's day. Normally, I might say it's unfair to rate a place on a holiday like this, but since I had such a great experience, it had no bearing on my rating. First of all, I really appreciated that they did not rush us at all. This is often a problem on Valentine's day, so it was nice taking our time. Our waiter ( I think someone at another table said his name was Luke ?) asked if it was our first time and explained about their fresh pasta and went over the menu. He was very helpful and was even nice enough to take the trouble to take a photo of us. We opted not to go with the prix fixe Vday menu so we could try the regular menu. We started with the bruschetta appetizer trio, which were actually fairly large slices that they pre-cut so we could each try every topping. My favorite was the goat cheese with mushroom and toasted walnut, but they were all delicious. I then had the apple and fennel salad. It was very lightly dressed, so I couldn't really taste the apricot vinaigrette, but I loved the crisp apples and plump golden raisins. For the entree, I went with a pasta dish. I tried the cavatelli with pesto. The waiter described them as being almost like dumplings and said it was his favorite pasta. I really enjoyed it, and although the portion sizes here are not huge, this pasta is incredibly filling, and I had to take some of it home. The roasted tomatoes and spinach mixed in was a nice accompaniment and added extra bursts of flavor to the mild pesto. Although I was pretty full, we still had to get a dessert, especially because I had seen the words chocolate panna cotta on the desset menu. It was heavenly. Very rich, but balanced with a dallop of the not-too-sweet mascarpone cream. I am really looking forward to trying this place again, and since we received a $20 gift card for dining with them on Valentine's day, it should not be too difficult to find an excuse to go back.

Easy to see why this restaurant is ranked as high as it is! Perfect atmosphere and great location. Found it odd that the menu was not your typical Italian fare but won't complain. You'll go home thinking about how perfect the entire evening was, including what you ate!
(5)Jami H.
I would rank this as the best Italian restaurant in Tulsa. I've eaten here three times, and each time my expectations were exceeded. The service is fantastic, and the fresh baked bread, which my server informed me is baked daily in house, is alone worth the price of the meal. The olive oil and balsamic vinegar compliment the bread perfectly. Every entree I've had was inventive and delicious. The gnocchi was divine, and the pasta is clearly made in house - none of that great value packaged junk you'll find at many "fine dining" restaurants in town. The salads are so delicious and decadent you won't feel like you are depriving yourself at all; in fact they seem almost sinfully delicious. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any item on the menu, although the uovo fritto salad might be my favorite so far. This is hands down the best kept secret in Tulsa!
(5)Nicole B.
I had the steak. It was pretty good, but not for what I paid for it. The portions were very small and the bread wasn't very good. The flat bread was to die for but did not make up for my substandard steak. The service was awesome, our waitress was one of the best I have ever had.

We were visiting Tulsa from Dallas, and stepped into Tavolo for a bite to eat near our hotel. Because we were dressed a little casually, we opted to dine at the bar. Everything was absolutely fantastic! The bartender was very knowledgeable on the menu and on wine. She steered our ordering to the Carbonara - which was the best we've ever had. She also suggested an order of meatballs, which was also spot-on. The dining room looked lovely, but was rather empty for a Saturday night. More people need to discover this gem in Tulsa! We will definitely return on our next trip there.
(5)Gary M.
I had their Meatball Burger & it's like I was biting into a pizza. Not a bad thing whatsoever. Sausage & meat patty, topped with mozzarella, arugula, basil & san marzano on ciabatta bread. Had a little bit of spice (which is what I like). My side was a Caesar salad, which didn't make me feel as guilty eating the burger due to the balance of my meal. Check out their $8 Lunch a Specials, each day, a different meal.

Since visiting our first Justin Thompson restaurant we've received a couple of coupons in the mail and decided to spend our anniversary trying out Tavolo. The homemade pasta and pesto won my heart over, our waitress was friendly, and we enjoyed a great table by the window. Be advised... You can find the pasta to-go at the farmers market. Double effin yum! Thank you, Justin, for making pasta.

I happened upon this place a a few weeks ago and finally got to try it last night. It's in the Philtower building, which really means in the heart of the business district, not in any of the various entertainment districts around town. Parking was a snap, I parked literally in front of the door. Don't expect that for you, it looks like street parking, which is ok as long as there's not an event going on downtown. Decor is contemporary open, with exposed pipes and such. Has some cool frescoes and a signature chandelier in the front of the house. We sat upstairs in a loft kind of setting with about 10 tables. The bar and more tables are downstairs. Nice! It has an intimate feeling and very quiet. We didn't' have cocktails, we went straight for the wine. I skimmed the typical Tulsa list of $30-$60 bottles to find a handful of better wines (for an "Upscale Italian" place, I expected more), but they did have what I was looking for. No complaints here. A scan of the menu: hmmm.... good on the pasta, light on the proteins, and a custom risotto option. Interesting! lots of flatbread appetizers. nah, we don't want pizza, but i guess this the trendy thing to do. Went to the salads and soups We ordered Uovo Fritto and Cold Tomato Soup. One word: awesome. The Uovo was well presented and the most unusual salad I've ever had in an Italian place. lightly breaded egg, cooked soft, with lettuce and pancetta. light dressing. very nice. The soup was flavorful and full bodied, with chunks of onion that did not overpower the overall flavor of the soup. Excellent. Then the Veal and the Fettucine Alfredo. First, the Fettucine. Great noodles, from scratch. Kind of doughy and very long. loved them. The cream sauce was also not the "classic" comfort food you've come to expect: it was savory, with chunks of mushrooms. It had an almost smokey taste. Delicious. The veal. O.M.G. Presented in a bed of asparagus risotto, with tomatoes, lettuce, and capers on top. beautiful. The veal had crunchy breading and was tender and juicy. The risotto was creamy with small chunks of asparagus to give some flavor and interest. Together? WOW. I can't wait have it again - and I writing this review the morning after! Dessert. No port! Out of Limoncello! what?! Had to make do with another glass of wine. darn. oh and chocolate. Chocolate pie, I think. Sort of a chocolate cream pie with an oreo cookie crust, with fudge topping. also - wonderful. We had to eat it all. There were no to go boxes for us, there wasn't enough left. Service was friendly and attentive, but were some minor glitches. I felt like the server had too many tables, so sometimes we were waiting on things. It was very cold, and the subtle hints to turn the ac down were missed. Only when half the tables loudly complained was this addressed. After the initial service, we poured our own glasses. The wine was spilled on the table and not cleaned up. The soup was spilled all over the bowl, spoiling the presentation. If they really want upscale, they're going to have to up their game on service details. The food? 5 stars. The service? 3 and a half - no, three. Just average for Tulsa, nothing special. I'm giving the review 4 stars. It could be better, but I will come back.

This place was pretty good! Very cute and flattering place to eat. Staff was also very helpful. They brought us out bread and an olive oil/balsamic mixture to dip in. I was not liking the balsamic at all but my fiance loved it. Bread was pretty tasty and already cut for us to eat. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo and my fiance ordered the Carbonara. We were both fairly happy with our dishes. My alfredo was so rich and succulent. The chicken was flavored well and cooked perfectly. But we did not like the noodles. They were a bit chewy and we found it difficult to eat. The dessert was the chocolate pie. Basically, chocolate upon chocolate. The only thing I didn't like about it was the chocolate mousse. If it wasn't brown, you wouldn't be able to tell it was chocolate - lacked flavor. All in all, very good place to eat. Will most likely come back.

Look no further, best food in downtown Tulsa!! Check out the Lunch Specials for $8! Great food, great service, great location!

I had lunch here with a really hot chick a couple weeks ago. (I hope my wife is reading this, because that how I refer to her). The place was empty at 11:15 when I arrived. Uhhh, is this normal? Was seated and the waiter gave me a cup of water and then disappeared until my wife showed up 10 mins later. She never took a drink order and I figured I would wait and see what happened when my wife arrived. No drinks offered for her either. Water it is! Maybe it was my wallet trying to tell me that the iced tea I wanted wasn't worth it. Oh well, no big deal. The menu had a few interesting looking dishes on it. I went with the Italian Club sandwich. We had some bread delivered while waiting that was awesome, warm and delicious. Paired with some oil and balsamic vinegar it was close to perfect. A little fresh cracked pepper in the oil would have been rad. Food came out and the warm potato salad thing was like crack. Seriously. So good. I have seen plenty of episodes of COPS to know when something has an addictive quality and this stuff is absurdly good. The sandwich was delicious too. I knew what I was getting into with cured meats and cheese and some light greens. It was wonderful. I didn't finish it because I am sure it isn't winning any awards for being low calorie, but to heck with that for one meal. Go there and try stuff. It's awesome and quaint inside. My only suggestion is to double check the waiter protocol. Everything was spot on.

We recently visited this place while in town for a football game and stayed next door at the Courtyard and was referred to this place by the Hotel staff, upon entering there were just two people sitting at the bar and this was a Friday evening, we were shown our table and the bartender/waitress was pretty rude! No hello,or how you doing,or anything!'they actually made us feel like they though we weren't good enough to be there, or maybe they thought we looked like we couldn't afford to eat there, Just made us feel very uncomfortable, my wife ordered the Flat bread pizza and it had very little flavor I order the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo which was pretty good except the noodles were gummy! So we will not be returning, we would have been better off with Jimmy Johns!

I've eaten at quite a few Tulsa restaurants by now and finally made it to Tavolo. Nestled in the heart of downtown, Tavolo is a unique destination with a pretty unique atmosphere. I really loved the location and character of the old building. Now, on the the food and dining experience. This is where I say, "it was a pretty good experience" my problem was that nothing I ate really stood out. My wife and I started with some tomato basil soup. At first they brought out some squash soup (no what we ordered). But they quickly fixed the problem and we went on about or meal. To be honest, the soup reminded me of a pasta sauce, not soup. We shifted gears and ordered our main course and some drinks. I ordered a linguine dish wish seafood, clam, shrimp etc. The seafood portion was great, especially the shrimp! But everything else was just ok, and really, a bit to salty for my taste. I really wish I could give this place a 3 and a 1/2 stars but that's not an option. I'd definitely like to give it another shot. If you have a choice visit Justin Thompson's other restaurant "Pryhme" it's absolutely wonderful.

What a lovely little find in sleepy downtown Tulsa. In town for a Rugby banquet and all the restaurants around my hotel were either closed or uninteresting. I stumbled upon this place, checked out the yelp reviews and decided to stop in. Since it was right next to my hotel I asked if they could do take-out and they could! Nice! The ambiance is super cute and romantic, a beautiful chandelier over the bar. Everyone was sweet and helped with recommendations! I went with their choice of mushroom risotto...wow! Let me also say that I take my risotto seriously and am very picky, it was cooked to perfection! They packaged the meal perfectly and included a separate box with bread, oil , and balsamic. Yum! Who needs room service when this place is so close! Trying to fit it into my schedule to come back in this short trip of mine!!

Went there for our 40th anniversary last evening and it was excellent! We were seated in the bar area next to the street-side windows (which is where we wanted to set). Service by Christine was exactly as it should be, professional, friendly and not too intrusive. This is a romantic venue, not very big, but nicely appointed. The food was outstanding. I had the Carbonara (best I've ever had) and my wife had the Sea Bass (the best fish she's ever tasted...and we eat a lot of fish). We had a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio and got a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. This is the best restaurant experience we've had in quite some time. We'll definitely be back...
(5)John S.
Had a flat bread, salad, and wine. All were terrific and a reasonable price. Definitely will be back!
(5)Dakota W.
I love the atmosphere, the food, and the attentiveness of the waitstaff. They really do care and try to help you with the menu if you're confused. My waitress even recommended a champagne I had never tried and I loved it, which almost never happens. Parking is a bit of a downside, especially when there's an event downtown, but worth the walk.
(4)Katrina M.
Had a wonderful intimate dining experience, a perfect date night. The wine choices were impressive and the make your own risotto was just amazing! And get the Bellini for dessert! We will be back.
(5)Joanna S.
I went for lunch by myself on Tuesday, so I sat the other bar. It's a nice spot when dining alone. I ordered the special of the day, a bleu cheese cheesesteak with a side of potatoes. The meal was amazing...especially that bleu cheese cream sauce...and the perfect amount for lunch. I was full, but not miserable the rest of the afternoon. Go to lunch on Tuesday!
(5)Lauren F.
The husband and I stopped here for a glass of wine before dinner. The waitstaff is incredibly nice, the atmosphere is classy, and being on Boston Ave makes you feel like you are in a big city. The wine and beer is reasonably priced for a quality glass. They have two good sized televisions at the bar if you are looking to watch a game! We went on a Thursday night and sat at the bar. Our bartender was very helpful and personable. We will absolutely be visiting again!
(5)Charles S.
Lovely atmosphere while we dined, just enough people to feel comfortable. The server was kind and recommended a handful of great entree suggestions. Our appetizers were stellar! The trio of bruschetta was one of the better I've tasted in town. Our meals were very simple yet executed properly. I had the sausage and peppers and my wife had the house pasta- home runs on both. This is a JT restaurant (local entrepreneur in the Tulsa area) and he did well on this venture. Great job JT!
(4)Craig R.
Stopped in for dinner because it was right next to the hotel. I sat at the bar and found great service from the lady behind the bar. The food was very tasty but not the best Italian I've ever had. Neat location and bar area. I would recommend to anyone in downtown Tulsa, OK.
(4)Cristi M.
We had a delightful experience! Prompt reservation seating, attentive staff and a delicious meal.
(5)Beau W.
Excellent place to get Italian food. I had the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich and warm potato salad and both were amazing. Service was good and quick as well.
(4)Allen W.
Had early evening drinks and later dinner here this past Saturday night. The only thing better than the food was the service. and considering the pasta is handmade on site, the food was phenomenal. I'll be back whenever I am in Tulsa
(5)Frank O.
I enjoyed the clams and mussells this evening. Wasn't too hungry so I also ordered a side of Brussell sprouts with pancetta. The barmaid offerred excellent service. It was very pleasant. The shellfish appetizer was tasty. I will order again. The sprouts were way too salty. The pancetta overwhelmed the dish. Maybe a hint of brown sugar? F

Returned for dinner on 4/18. Carbonara was a little too al dente. Flavor was OK, but nothing exceptional. Tiramisu was flatly a disappointment. Only a block from my office, but unlikely they will see me again.

My wife and I celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary with the great folks at Tavolo on Aug. 7th, 2015. We had an exceptional evening of great food and beverage! We started with excellent cocktails and the delicious Uovo Fritto Salad with Crispy 5 Minute Egg along with fresh out of the oven focaccia bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Our dirty goose martinis and gin and tonics were well-mixed by the bartender to perfection. Then came the main course consisting of the Salmon Picatta on Linguini with a side to share of the most wonderful Brussel sprouts lightly sautéed with prosciutto I believe and for the first time in our lives we ate them and loved them!!! Dessert consisted of a Goat Cheese with diced strawberry and mint creation that was light and so delicious with that end of the evening cup of coffee!! All in all there is no way that our waiter, Roy, management and staff could have made our evening any more special. Our table upstairs overlooking S. Boston Ave and the bar and restaurant below was superb!! So few places ever really get it "right", but Tavolo is OUTSTANDING!!!! Thank you!!!!!
(5)Jose L.
My partner and I took some friends to the restaurant and it was wonderful. So many Italians were dining there, I felt as if I was back in Italy. The food was wonderful, the fine fantastic. I look forward to returning to Tavolo soon. Our friends have dined at the Tavolo and thought that this location was a much better experience due to the size of the dining room. More room between tables.
(4)Katy T.
Fantastic food, about $8-13 for lunch. Not too loud, a great place to catch up with an old friend! The menu has enough options to find something you like, but not so overwhelming that you can't decide. And yes, in true Italian restaurant fashion, there is bread and olive oil to snack on before your meal!
(5)Kayci H.
I ate here a few months back for my birthday; the atmosphere was very nice, quite so you could actually talk to the people at your table but too dark to read the menu (and I am still in my 20s). The service was lacking; we were the youngest table in the restaurant so that may be the reason why... Not too sure, inattentive and slow. I ordered a specialty pasta; the food presentation was great but the food was way over salted but everything seemed to have been cooked well, nice texture. My boyfriend ordered the mussels which turned out to be over cooked and lacking greatly in flavor and in size. The other two in the party generally enjoyed their meal but everyone agreed it was too salty. I would be hard pressed to go back, especially for the price. So maybe if you decide to eat here ask for light salt.

i was in tulsa to run the route 66 marathon, staying at the couryard marriot on boston street. this restaurant is next door to the hotel. needing a carb centric dinner (pasta!) the night before the run, i decided to check it out. there's not a lot of seating, so you should probably make reservations, but being a solo traveler, i sat at the bar with no problems getting seated. the bar tender David was awesome. the pasta is hand made. the carbonera with added chicken was delicious. chocolate pie and a couple of beers afterwards made for an awesome pre marathon meal.

I'm trying really hard to stop spending so much each time I go out to dinner so initially I vetoed this place when my sister-in-law suggested it. The primis are somewhere between $15-$20 and the secondis are upwards of $20. However, they had homemade pasta on the menu and it was really close to the Tulsa Performing Arts Center that we were going to after dinner. So, I finally agreed. The space was a little tight but fairly well decorated. They have this large curtain draped along side the bar that gives it that old-school theatre feel. The lighting could have been a little more ambiant but overall, the space was fine. Our waitress was fantastic. She was on point, able to answer all of our questions and politely let us know she would check when she didn't have the answer. I know that seems standard but for some reason it felt above and beyond. The food was all great - we had several dishes and split them: Appetizer: 1. Risotto balls - a little dry and needed salt but the sauce that went with it was great 2. Side of kale - a little oily but still really good Main: 1. Cavatelli - house made. Everything on it was great but the pasta was a little hard. I think this was probably the first dish they prepared and it just sat there while the others were cooking. Not sure why else is would be so tough. 2. Lobster ravioli (without the lobster for us since we are vegetarian) - stuffed with ricotta and really well prepared. 3. Saffron risotto - delicious and perfectly runny as risotto should be. Flavors were complex and interesting. I guess a little saffron does that. 4. Brussel sprouts (without the bacon) - delicious All in all, we really enjoyed our meal and will be back.

Stop the presses: First! Big J Thompson fan, particularly Juniper. This is in the Philtower space held most recently (briefly) by Edward Delk; immediately next to the Downtown Courtyard Hotel/ Atlas Life Building. You have a good shot to find metered street parking during the daytime at least. OK- on to the food! Had lunch today with a couple colleagues. So this is a prime-style Italian restaurant experience. Full bar, linen table cloths, and a step up in price (as a website perusal will reveal). Our service was competent and at a suitable pace. Seemed like the waiter was just a little green as to the menu--makes sense since they just started doing lunch last week. I had the garlic herb chicken; colleague the cavatelli (chicken, prosciutto, asparagus over pasta); other guy the Uovo Fritto (a fanciful caesar salad with a breaded/ fried egg on top--splendid visual effect!). Everything was flavorful, plated well, and appeared to be fresh; no evidence of warming tables here! Upon our food arriving--this is important--I quickly ordered a fried risotto cake appetizer for the table to share. Menu is a la carte. That did not surprise me; portions however are on the small side. None of us ordered the "large portion" that the actual lunch menu (in restaurant/ not online) offered. Cliffs: + Food was enjoyable. + If you're a big ole boy/ or just really hungry--you're going to want larger portion -or- to layer your meal with an app or salad. + For a first time lunch, good not great. Looking forward to trying with the wife for dinner. *reviewer reserves the right to do a follow up review & bump this place up to 4-stars thereafter.*

I can only speak to the bar now as we didn't eat here yet! I like high end places and this is one!! Drinks are handmade and pricey! Service is personal and excellent! I'm looking forward to eating here!!

My husband and I have enjoyed several of Justin Thompson`s other restaurants and wanted to love this one as well, but unfortunately, Tavolo missed the mark for us on this particular night. We had early dinner reservations before a show at the PAC and were seated right away once we arrived. The space is cozy and inviting. Our server was friendly, although obviously inexperienced (we never got his name and he struggled with the specials). We both started with the butternut squash soup which was a generous serving, but lacked enough flavor to really make it memorable and just came off as bland. For our main course,my husband had the pork shank, which was tasty - tender and juicy. I ordered the ravioli but apparently my order was mixed up and I was served the marsala. Our server immediately took it away and soon came the correct dish, however perhaps because they rushed to prepare it, my ravioli was considerably chewy and undercooked. We finished with the tiramisu which was nice, but not the traditional style you would expect (dry, not soaked in expresso). Overall not a bad meal, but certainly not what I expected from Thompson and at that price. We will try it again eventually, but not soon as there are several other local italian spots that we have enjoyed more.

Long travel day for work and had every intention of staying in for the night and working. Decided to head downstairs for a glass of wine and take out- and happened upon Tavolo. Not only was the service exceptional - but the patrons were welcoming and kind. (NOT PRETENTIOUS). "Take out" ended up to a nice night at a wonderful restaurant.. The gnocchi was highly recommended -not usually a fan, but I went for it and I was so pleasantly surprised. The best gnocchi I have ever had. HOMEMADE PASTA... The lady next to me had the carbonara - which looked amazing. I am looking forward to my next trip to Tulsa - strictly so I can stay at The Courtyard- and go to Tovolo!!!!

I had a fantastic dinner here. The food was superb, atmosphere relaxed and classy, and service was good. Charlotte was our server and she was delightful. I'd highly recommend the scallops, which were cooked to perfection. The dessert was also superb. Great Italian restaurant, definitely would eat here again! James and Daniel did an awesome job with all the food, too!

Nice Italian restaurant. Affordable meals and drinks, with nice polite service. The bread is fresh, well seasoned and wonderful, unfortunately since each service of bread is baked right before it is served and the loafs are small the bread does not last long and it can take a while to get refills. While we were there for dinner, the lunch specials sound great and are very affordable.

Really great Italian restaurant. Friendly service at the bar. Good bread, great wine, and better food. The sausage and peppers was awesome but you cannot miss the sprouts for appetizer. Nice decor. Perfect for a date or business getaway.

The food is here is delicious! By far the best Italian in Tulsa. They have homemade pasta which is amazing!! The ambiance is really cozy and nicely done inside. The service is good, occasionally on the slow side, but it's worth it.

I would like to start this review by fulling disclosing, that I have waited tables, bartended and have also worked in customer service for over 5 years while attending college. It upsets me, to have an understanding for this industry and yet be treated with absolute disrespect in such an upscale venue. A group of my closest friends drove to Downtown Tulsa for my bachelorette party. After settling into our hotel, we were referred to try Tavolo by a hotel staff member. Dressed up, all 5 girls walked into this establishment and we were taken back with the "Wow Factor". This place is very limited on space, but it's an absolute chic atmosphere. We were greeted in a very timely manor, and due to the flowing crowd the gentleman suggested pulling a chair up to the end of, what normally would only seat 4 people. We were all completely fine with this. He sat us at a table by the window and let us know our server would be right with us. So far so, good..... After waiting over 10 minutes (no exaggeration), our server showed up. Instead of saying "I apologize for the wait", he stood behind of my MOH (not aside for us all to see him), and reached OVER her head to pick up her small Starbucks water. He grabbed it said in a condescending tone, " Outside drinks are not allowed" and walked off. That was his introduction. **I will note that I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND not bringing in outside drinks, but there is more of a polite way to let your patrons know this.** We all looked at each other, as if we were being Punked. I was stunned!!!! He returned about 5 minutes later to get our drink order. This time greeting us with. "What can I get you ladies to drink." (This is now 15 minutes after we were sat, and again, no apology or explanation for the lack of service) As he went around the table, only one of us ordered a glass of wine. He asked for her ID, she reached into her purse, handed it to him and he walked off it.... Yes, he walked off, AGAIN, and with my friends ID. Her wine was dropped off promptly after he walked away but the rest of our fountain drinks came out approximately 3 minutes after her wine. Keep in mind, we are all still curious why he walked off with her ID..... After drinks were at the table, another 15 minutes passed..... No service. I got up to use the ladies room, returned and our server was back. When I sat down, he urgently said while handing back my friends ID, "What will you have Miss?", I responded with my order, and he asked rudely, "Um, okay. So, what do you want for your first course?" I was confused, so I asked was this something that comes with my entree. In a snarky response, he let us all know that nothing came with our entrees and that if we wanted a salad it was an extra fee. (Yes, he said "fee" not additional charge or even attempted to up sell us by using suggestive adjectives... Only one word, "Fee.") I shrugged, and declined the 'first course fee'. After we all ordered, I noticed that every table surrounding us had bread and oil. I asked if we could possible get some bread, and he responded. " I am getting there". My eyes looked like a deer in a headlight. I was so surprised by his response... Did I mention we have yet to get a refill on any beverage?!? We were all anticpating on ordering a bottle of wine with dinner, but the opportunity never presented itself. We eventually received bread and oil, followed by our entrees. Our food was PHENOMENAL! I repeat, food was PHENOMENAL! Portions were not what we were expecting, but this is okay. If the food was not as good as it was, we all would have walked out. The food seriously saved this experience from utter disaster. I will fast forward this adventure to tabbing out..... We all had seperate tabs, and he returned prompty, slightly tossing our tabs on the table. My friend that ordered the wine, asked if we could all get a refill on our drinks and he just looked at our empty glasses, walked off (yes, again) but to our delightful surprise, quickly returned with a pitcher of water. We all handed our payments to him..... It took him more time to tab us out then it did to get our drink order.... After returning with our change/credit receipts, we all noticed the same thing... NONE OF THE TICKETS were what he dropped off. The biggest example I can give is my friend that had the Starbucks water, paid with a 50.00 on a 20.00 tab. Her change, you ask!? 8.00. My sister's tab was 26.00, when her entree was 20.00 (she picked up my tab which was 15.00), so our tab should have been at least 35.00.. Nope, it was 26.00. And the item on the tab, we have no idea who's it was. All the tickets were like this. We finally figured out the change needed back, and left. Server did not receive a tip. The night before, we dined at On the Border, got apps, salads, drank during our meals and racked up a 300.00 bill and tipped the waitress $100.00. My advise: If you want a small upscale snack, this is the spot. Just order it to-go. Service is a nightmare.

Loved this place!! Loved the ambiance, location, server, decor, wine menu, and dinner--all of it! I was especially impressed with their wine menu. They had my favorite Chardonnay you can't find anywhere around here. I was very pleased with the option of Kimmel Chardonnay from Mendocino County, California. Anyway, I definitely will be back soon in hopes to sit up in the cozy loft again. I also would love to visit for lunch sometime or even go chill at the charming looking little bar one evening. I definitely recommend this place. It seemed too good to be true to have here in Tulsa.

Great place for a quick and delicious lunch in downtown Tulsa. Prices are great for the quality of food. Will be back!

Very cool bar and great feel to restaurant. Portions are modest so don't be afraid to order salad, side or risotto. Good Northern Italy food (not many red sauce dishes).
