Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Decided to give Savastano's a try after hearing so many great things from my co-workers. Literally, a conversation about pizza can't happen without somebody mentioning Savastano's. That, combined with the fact that Chicago-style pizza is my favorite, you could say that I had high hopes. Luckily, Savastano's delivered (for the most part). First of all, for whatever reason, when I used my GPS for directions (from the Yelp app), I was taken to a residential neighborhood behind Target. Figuring I was in the wrong place, I called to get directions. The automated answering service at Savastano's has directions but it mainly just says it is located in the shopping center near the Spirit Center. There is a lot of ground to cover over there and we had to drive around through the parking lot for a while before we actually found the restaurant. Once we finally got in, we were seated immediately. Our server was slow getting around to us even though there was almost nobody else in the restaurant. She seemed very unsure of everything we asked and it turned out that it was only her second day. You would have thought she would have someone with her to help train her, but there was nobody in sight. We discussed a medium pizza with her and were told that is about the right amount for two people. Come to find out a medium pizza is about the size of the tires on my car. It was WAY too much for just my girlfriend and I. We have eaten a couple of meals worth of leftovers and we still have more than we could possibly eat. In addition to our lacking service, the restaurant was freezing cold. We would have been as warm sitting outside. I am not a fan of eating dinner with my coat on. The pizza itself was fantastic. About as close to the pizza I've had in Chicago as you could ask for. My girlfriend also had the salad bar for an appetizer since we were told 30-45 minutes on the pizza cook time. All the salad bar items were really fresh and everything was good. The housemade salad dressing was really great. We were a little surprised when the check came to find out a trip to the salad bar was nearly $7.00. All in all, Savastano's has some really great pizza. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. However, there were a few hiccups that could be improved to make the customer experience better.

Service is so-so, food meh. And for the love of the goddess, could you please put some sunshades up so the people facing the windows don't have the sun in their eyes around 6:30 - 7:00 pm?

Without a question this is the best deep dish pizza I have had outside of Chicago. We got a large deeeeep dish pepperoni and although the ~$30 price tag made me do a double take, that sweet sweet 1st bite tasted like $50. The takeout was quick and easy. It's accessed through a separate entrance on the north side lower level. I highly recommend this joint, just make sure to save up beforehand.

I have heard about this place from people who have lived here for a while and say how the pizza here is pretty good. I never thought to give it a try since it is not something I pass everyday, but bookmarked it and decided to give it a try last night. This place is open until 10 on weekdays and 11 on weekends which is amazing! We saw that it was close to us and also that they had specials every day! Driving to this place we saw that it is newer and also located in a newer location we have never been before. There are a few other places we would like to try around as well. Walking in we saw that it is divided so you can go to the bar or upstairs where you can have a meal, which is nice since I don't always want to sit in a loud area. We sat upstairs this time and saw that it was very open. Since we went on a Thursday they had a special where you can order a large thin crust pizza with one topping and it was the price of a medium. I was sold there! I also saw that the special on Monday was amazing and will for sure want to go back and give it a try! We ordered some beer which they have a nice selection. The pricing is not bad either and if you go Monday-Thursday at 3-7pm you can get beers for $1.50!! To start we got some garlic bread with cheese which was delicious! The pizza we got was half sausage and pepperoni, and the sausage they used was very good. I want to go back here and try the appetizers, fried mushrooms and cheese is always delicious!! They also have Chicago hot dogs!! The only weird thing is that when you get beer that is located upstairs it comes in a plastic cup which was weird.... I wanted a glass one, but I guess why does it matter? The pizza was delicious!! Definitely coming back here again. When you leave with pizza they also put it in a bag for you on cardboard so it does not get smashed. It is also in a bag so you dont have to deal with that box after. Our whole dinner here was $30 for all we got!! literally amazing. If they got outdoor seating on that nice patio upstairs we would be here all the time!!

Yum!!! Love this pizza! Have only ever had carry out, but it was so good!
(4)Jared H.
Great Place! We took a party of 20 in there for my son's birthday and I was very impressed with the level of service and the overall experience. I highly recommend their "Meat Packer" which is a deep dish meat lovers kind of pizza with Italian meatballs on it. Our server "Mary" was very helpful and accommodating including placing the birthday cake in a refrigerator for us while we ate. We will most definitely be back.

Wait staff was awesome. The pizza is worth the wait. My only suggestion would be to make it a butter crust. As far as the pizza goes, great amounts of cheese. I had the sausage & it was good quality. It's the closest I've had to Chicago in Oklahoma. Thank you for what you do
(5)Mark D.
Ate in bar area, excellent service. Not disappointed with Chicago Way Hot Dog. Tulsa World today showcased this dog along with several other Tulsa establishments. Great taste-first bite had a snap to it. Awesome. Stella good libation to go with eating 'the dog'. Recommend trying.

This is a decent pizza. If you have the deep dish, prepare to have your body chemistry changed for a few days. It is so much cheese that you feel like a total fatass days after you eat it.
(3)Tammika B.
Great food, but I wished they had an option for a side salad without paying for the whole salad bar.
(3)Glenn M.
They have daily specials that my waitress forgot to mention which I luckily found and ordered a sausage 14 inch pizza which I was able to turn into two days worth of meals. The sausage tasted homemade and not greasy and fatty like chain sausage. Salad bar was a bit pricey for $4.99 but with imagination that one topping pizza now can become multi-topping as well. This place is well known among locals and while I only ate the pizza I would like to sample the other items if given the opportunity. Downstairs is more of a full bar type atmosphere and upstairs in a sit down restaurant. The pizza is fresh and they say it takes 30 minutes for a deep dish pizza so give yourself time.

On a long day.. Pizza sounds good for the evening.. before heading home!
(5)Allen C.
Call ahead to get your favorite deep dish fast. I've been a fan of the place for a long time. Their salad bar is a little expensive, but really? Who goes here for a salad? But I had to. The salad toppings are all simply pizza toppings that you can throw on your self. I ordered the City Dump and made it a deep dish. There's some extra up-charge for doing so, but I wanted what I wanted. The pie was delish. The sauce and toppings blended well together and held together quite well. I've been here several times and will continue to go back. If you cant make it to the Windy City, Savastano's is a damn good alterentive.
(4)Donna H.
Sodas cost 2.69, pizza is pricey, salad bar WAY too high. Had a sweetheart for a waitress. Decor is kinda cool, clavinova player piano on stage. They will not make a personal gluten free pizza for a lunch special. I got a medium to bring home. Always thinks it tastes better next day, toasted slow, low in a skillet on top of stove. Makes crust super crunchy...yum
(3)Saúl F.
Savastano's is the closest I've had to Chicago Style deep dish in Oklahoma. Before finding Savastano's my family had actually mail ordered pizza from Giordano's in Chicago to get our deep dish fix. No more. Both the deep dish and the thin crust taste like Chicago pizza. When we go to eat here, we usually sit downstairs in the bar, since the ambiance upstairs is a bit boring. If you want to pick up your pizza, you can call in your order pretty late and pick up the pizza at the bar which is always a plus for me since I tend to get out of work pretty late at night.
(4)Tania P.
It's our first time here: the place is huge- it has 3 floors, the bottom floor is a bar with some high tables and the 2nd and 3rd floors are restaurant. The most of the menu are pizzas and colzones, so if you are on a diet - skip this place. However, they have a salad bar - romaine lettuce, tomatoes and mushrooms.... We ordered 4 pizzas (there were 11 of us) and the deep ones looked too fatty. The thin crust ones looked better. I tried Water Tower Pizza and it was really good. FYI - medium size pizza is pretty big!!! We have to take home tons of leftowers!!!!
(3)John C.
As a former Chicagoan, this place is as close to authentic Chicago pizza as you're going to find in Oklahoma. They are "close," but not exactly perfect. The pizza is outstanding! If you like an ultra cheesy pizza, this place is for you. I'm also a huge fan of their italian beef sandwich. They call it "The Stockyards" I think. Make sure you order it by it's menu name because the Okie staff will have no clue what an italian beef sandwich is. I always order it "extra wet, extra giardiniera." Both times that I have been here I was with a large party. The staff did an excellent job on both occasions. They also have a decent salad bar, if that's your thing.
(5)Stephanie S.
The pizza is awesome, but that's the only reason that they even get two stars. We came in Friday night after a ball game with four hungry boys. We ordered a simple thin crust pepperoni and a thin crust sausage pizza. After about 45 mins we asked the waiter about our pizza. He came back about 20 mins later and said that the kitchen had messed our pizzas up & were having to remake them and it would be 10 more mins. So after over a hour wait we finally got our pizza. Then he brought us our ticket in which everything was charged full price for it. We asked about a discount because of the mess up. We got 10% discount for having to wait for over an hour for two easy pizzas that I'm sure the kitchen didn't mess up, he just forgot to put the order in. Oh, and the place was pretty much empty. I've been a waitress so I usually give a little leniency for mistakes, but make sure you do your customer right when you make the mistake.

My favorite place to go for pizza. I went again last night, and they didn't disappoint. I've heard the salad bar is tasty, I don't know because that's not really my thing. I'm only dinging them a star for the lackluster service and appetizers. The service wasn't bad exactly, but it wasn't exceptional. To be a five star restaurant you've got to have exceptional service. The appetizers were a bit small, but they aren't expensive so it balances out. While the service and apps may only be four star material, the deep dish Chicago meat factory pizza is so good it's crazy. Best in town IMHO. Love this place, if your ever down south Tulsa way check it out. I live near by, so give me a buzz and I'll meat you over there and we can split a pie!
(4)Maureen B.
My Chicago friends are probably going to kill me for saying this, but I think Savastano's is BETTER than authentic Chicago deep dish. I know, I know, bring on the boo's. The crust is the perfect combination of crunchy around the outside, and soft and chewy underneath. The homemade Italian sausage is to die for, and best of all, the cheese is on TOP of the sauce. Like I said, true Chicagoans will disagree, but I think sauce-over-cheese is weird. My husband and I frequent the ground-floor "Friendly Confines" bar and split a small pizza, and easily make two meals (each) out of it. We generally go on weekends for lunch, and the atmosphere is quiet, but they always have sports on, have good beer specials, and the service is always on par.
(5)Brent C.
I've been going here for years even before they moved to the new swanky place and it's the best deep dish maybe the only deep dish pizza place in Tulsa. If you're a Chicago transplant and you're looking for a slice of home give it a try I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Not since Uno's has there been a place like this in town, so eat and enjoy.
(5)S G.
SO not worth the $$$, SO not worth the wait, SO not equal to the hype, which is all disappointing given that deep-dish pizza is an essential food group. Service was so-so, prices were crazy, and it is so not kid friendly (I was kid-less, just watching the goings on around us). I'll give them a second chance, I guess, just in case I caught them on a bum night. Will report back when I do.
(2)Eric Q.
About as good of a pizza choice in Tulsa that I have found. Always good food, service and value. Its a little pricey but well worth it since its not an everyday place to dine. Also a great amosphere and a great place to get a cold beer too!!!
(4)Cris S.
The best pizza I've ever had including Chicago, NY, and another 30 plus states. Better then any thin, deep, or hand toss ever. The wings aren't the best but stick to the pizza and you can't go wrong. I've been coming here for over 8 yrs when they was in Bixby. Great for family. You can also get a pizza half cooked and take it home and cook it the next day if you live far away. Great place to watch sports, and the bar has great service also.
(5)Andre G.
First things first the service was great! Our waiter knew the menu really well and was surprisingly honest about what was good and what was just okay. The atmosphere was nice and I loved loved loved the decor, it made me feel at home. Now as far as the actual pizza goes..., it was just okay. It's defiantly not the worst I've have but it's not the best I've had either. Maybe if we would have gotten different toppings or something it would have been better but oh well. I probably wouldn't make a second trip here.
(3)Sarah B.
Best pizza in town!!! Hancock Tower is delish! ! Great place to hang out n chill n have drinks!!
(5)Eagle N.
The best deep dish I've ever had in my mouth. This pizza is so good that once they messed up our order and we thanked them after. It was better than what we had tried to order.
(5)Scott S.
They made me authentic Chicago dogs, which is literally all it takes to get 5-stars out of me. I can't overstate or overstress how much I love Chicago-style hot dogs. They are the greatest food on the planet, and if you disagree, then you are wrong and need to be enlightened. This is objective fact. That said, this is the real deal. From my recollection, the relish wasn't the trademark Vienna neon-green, but it's sweet relish, so the taste is there. The fried pickles, while not really a Chicago thing, were delicious, and I'm told the pizza was pretty awesome too. The deep dish I saw looked pretty legit. Still, none of that matters, because the hot dogs are what counts, and they do it right.

Our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) went to Savastano's on a Friday night for a late dinner after my son's baseball game. We were told a pizza would "take 30-40 minutes since it wasn't that busy" so we opted to get the pizza to go but ordered a salad bar and 3 kids' meals to be served right away. That was not the case. Savastano's is the first restaurant I've been to in which the kids get nothing to write on or play with (Upper Crust gives Waxstix, Andolini's Pizzaria gives pizza dough, Zio's gives Crayons and paper, etc.). Consequently, my kids were restless, especially since we had to wait an HOUR for ALL the food to arrive, contrary to what the server told us. I opted for the salad bar and noticed a staff member replenishing salad toppings but not the almost empty lettuce. When I asked if she was going to add more lettuce, she replied, "Probably not since we're closing soon." It was 8:15. I just ordered it. There were still customers in the restaurant who had also just ordered food. I thought that was poor customer service. The server did not come back to check on us after she took our order, even to ask if we wanted drink refills. The pizza was pretty good but for that kind of service, and atmosphere, I would have rather gone to Andolini's instead. We will NOT be going back!
(2)Ben C.
2nd trip to Savastano's. 2nd disappointment. Dark interior, difficult to read menus (accidentally ordered a thin crust pizza instead of Deep Dish because of it). Overpriced and under-performing. Really wanted to like this place, but I won't be back.
(2)Dustin E.
The absolute best deep dish pizza you will ever have anywhere in Oklahoma in my opinion. The price seems steep, but after you have a slice, you realize that a pizza will feed your family for a week. We have run into trouble with loud and obnoxious servers here, but that seems to be everywhere in Tulsa... If you want great Chicago style pizza, go here! Also, it's on the dining rewards program for Southwest and American Airlines.
(4)Brian B.
Pizza was great. Service staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely go for the pizza! It's very good!
(3)Jeff D.
The pizza was good, the service was not. I called them twice to let them know we would have a group of 25 coming. Although they refused to set us up a table ahead of time, we just showed up early to wait on a table which was fine. After waiting an hour they seated us at a table that only held 18, (and that was as tightly packed as possible) and spread everyone else to other tables. I spoke to the manager/owner lady who was rude and treated us all as though we were an inconvienance.
(2)Leah M.
Savastano's Pizzeria is the absolute BEST place in Tulsa, Oklahoma for Chicago style pizza! ANytime I am in the mood for pizza, Savastano's is the place I go. Only downfall, they don't deliver but do have "carry-out". The people are always so nice, the food is ALWAYS delicious and I guarantee you will leave FULLY stuffed!
(5)Jason S.
My second favorite pizza place in town. Last time we went we had a group of 4 adults and 3 children (one 11 and two under 5) and they automatically added a gratuity to our bill! I wasn't happy about this but other than that the pizza and atmosphere are great.
(4)Warren D.
My first ever meal in Tulsa, OK was an excellent one! I am a pizza fanatic and was pleased to find this place only 15 minutes from my hotel. If you're not in the area often, go all in and do a deep dish pizza. While it takes some time to prepare, it is worth the wait. I am blanking on the name of my pizza, just know that it had tons of cheese and pepperoni. The soft drink cups are large to help wash down all that tastiness, too. Easily some of the best deep dish pizza I've ever had. In fact, I'm still eating leftovers two days later and it still tastes good. So why the 4 stars? A couple minor things. I know, I know, but I reserve the right to save 5-star reviews for truly mind-blowing experiences. Ok, the minor things: - It took awhile for someone to greet me once I was seated. I was able to decide everything I wanted before someone said hello. Once that was out of the way service was very good; she even wrapped the pizza in a way that was hotel fridge-friendly. - The restaurant was half full and my (pity) party of 1 was seated in-between two large and noisy tables. The hostess didn't pay much attention or she would have noticed the book in my hand. People asking for tables of 1 don't generally want a whole lot of noise. Thankfully they left within 20 minutes and I was able to enjoy my book (Hunger Games, ya!) and my pizza. - The mozzarella sticks are the average ones that any old restaurant takes out of the freezer and places in a fryer. Don't bother. Bottom line: Savastano's is excellent pizza that's worth the wait.

"Great Italian sausage and green pepper toppings...draft beer is only 9 cents more than ice tea."
(4)Kyle S.
Have been here a few times, and this time I got the fried pickles and a sausage calzone (light on the cheese) and it was awesome! The whole place has a wonderful Chicago feel and the Chicago style food is very authentic! I highly recommend this place to everyone!
(5)Suzie M.
Savastano's Pizzeria has a very good deep dish pizza. The sauce is zesty and the crust is as close to Chicago's deep dish crust as I have had outside of Chi town. Thin crust is good too. Service has always been good.
(4)Courtney E.
Went back Saturday night with a group of 10. GREAT SERVICE THIS TIME! And our pizza was hot! Much better Savastano's, please have your A-team staffed all day Saturday, not just at night.
(4)Steven W.
OK, Let's understand each other. I'm from Chicago and know and LOVE deep dish pizza! I stopped in here last night with a friend for a taste of the restaurant's signature pie. We had a John Hancock and added Chicago staples of green pepper and mushrooms. This was an excellent pizza! The restaurant also uses Gonnella bakery bread for their sandwiches, so anyone who knows Chicago knows Gonnella bread and how one can't have an italian beef sandwich without it. This is a restaurant that shows respect for Chicago style pizza. Tulsa, OK is very lucky to have a pizza joint like this in their area. My only problem was in finding the place. We originally typed the address into a GPS and ended up on the other side of town. When I typed the restaurant name into the thing we finally found it. I will be back again before my business in Tulsa is concluded.
(4)Joshua B.
This joint has presence. Unfortunately, it's located across from the Spirit Bank Event Center...which means heavy traffic if you go on the wrong night. I'm a downtown guy. It's lamentable that this good of a restaurant is relegated to the suburbs. I think in a proper downtown setting, they'd make even more of killing and not need the "we're a a band who used to be kind of famous" concert crowd. Now, there's a telling word in Savastano's name..."pizzeria." Sure, their pizza is good. Their deep dish is spectacular. But what I think makes this place special is their sandwiches. Specifically the meatball sub. Holy. Moses. I'm not a small man. I can pound it when I want or need to, and I couldn't finish this bad boy. And I wanted to. Savastanos has it going on as far as atmosphere, too. The lower level is the bar, where they have a regulation sized shuffleboard. While darts have their place, this is better than darts. On the upper level you'll find the more family oriented crowd. A fresh salad bar if you're into that, but c'mon...you came here for the pizza. Or if you're cool, the sandwiches.
(4)J D.
Not impressed by the thin crust pizza. The crust nor the sauce had any flavor at all. The place is pretty loud.
(2)Olivia D.
we went to savastano's and got two kinds of pizza. One regular supreme pizza and one chicago deep dish. The regular supreme.. Not so great. but okay if your in the mood for pizza. Now my husband on the other hand got the Deep dish Pepperoni and italian sausage. One bite of his and I was hooked. Its not the tradtional chicago deep dish because they put the cheese on top instead of the sauce, but oh my was it good.. the cheese is so thick you could of picked it up and slapped your momma with it! *not recommended* lol Id say if you cant make it to chicago... then you should go to savastano's pizza.
(4)Elaine C.
Don't get the double dough crust pizza. Very dense and bland. Otherwise, the thin pizza is good. Beer selection could be more interesting. Good atmosphere.
(3)Tamara N.
We are in town for only a week but have already been here twice. The City Dump thin crust is to die for!!! The family dining vs bar area is a bit confusing but once you know which door to use, it leads you to pizza heaven. This is now just another reason to visit home!
(5)George Q.
Visited again for a takeout pizza, which they screwed up and didn't offer to fix. I could barely taste anything other than cheese. I think there was some sauce and crust under there somewhere, but it was barely noticeable. I'll give this place another try, and ask for much less cheese.
(2)Michael M.
Been here numerous times while visiting the area. Chicago style pizza is very good. Ridiculously filling but very tasty. Service is acceptable: nothing special. Salad bar is nice, if just to cut the massive dose of carbs and fats you'll get from the pizza. The calzone is odd: is it served flat rather than folded over, and it has sauce and cheese on top. Good, but unusual.
(3)Heather H.
F*N amazing pizza! Sears tower and Hancock are the 2 best pizza's but they're all good. I'm glad that when they moved to the new location the pizza didn't change. However!! The pizzas take a lifetime to cook! I've had to wait 1hr 15min for a pizza before AND the service is horrible.
(3)Heather S.
From Chicago. So I am a Pizza Snob. And believe me, the Tulsa area is sorely lacking in good pizza. But this makes up for all the others that suck. I miss the old hole in the wall place, but the new place is awesome and a homage to everything that is great about Chicago. With the new big place, it looks like from some of the reviews that they are having some of the same growing pains at the big place, that they did when they first started out. However, they are a hard working family owned business, and so I know, and was a first hand witness to the positive turn around they made over time with service issues they had. I am confident they will do the same again. Although I personally have never had any bad service at the new place. And we usually go during the week. Over all, awesome place for a good slice and cold one.
(4)Kevin P.
Best Chicago style pizza in town and great service!
(5)Nate B.
I think this place is probably the best pizza in town. I had lunch in the bar today and enjoyed the thin crust pie with a couple cold Old Style beers. Personally, the deep dish pizza is a little too much for me. The small deep dish pizza weighs 4.5 lbs (and feels even heavier than that in your stomach!). I have been to Savastanos many times and have had an occasional bad experience. But, overall I am a big fan of Savastanos.
(4)Brett P.
This place is truly Chicago authentic. Order the "Sears Tower" and you'll have a truly deep-dish pizza pie with pounds of cheese. If you're looking for excellent deep-dish pizza, this family owned place is for you.
