We waited over an hour to get a seat. The hostess told us 25 minutes to get seated. It was the worse experience in restaurant we had. They even let another couple take a seat right after she said we were next. The couple told her that they were going to sit at the bar and when they walked out, she went after them and gave our seats. Never expect the wait time that they say. You can add 30-60 minutes to the time they say. We left after our mood was spoiled without eating. The food, we have no idea but we will never go there ever again.

Blackened Chicken pasta pomodoro was spicy delicioso! Service sucked. You can't not refill the water glass when somebody is eating spicy food, even if you're the owners son. Loved the bread with the butter on top from The oven. Next time we'll order it to go. The owner did come around and ask how we're doing. Since it was our first time I didn't make any waves. It's definitely a wine and conversation place, But refill the drinks!

LOVE the chicken piccata! It was so good I don't remember what everyone else had - but they said their meals where excellent. All 5 of us would go back.

This place is very cute inside. Old Photos everywhere and a comfortable yet hip vibe. The service is attentive and friendly. Sadly, the food is very mediocre. It's like an Olives Garden wearing fancy clothes - looks impressive, but deep down nothing special. The portions are big, but the pasta pomodoro I got was very bland. The noodles were not al dente. I guess at least the shrimps were good! Call me a food snob, but from an LA girl that spent six months in Italy, I wouldn't recommend this place if you're craving Italian.

Alright: top notch lasagna, very solid Caesar salad, top notch bread offerings. A little on the pricey side - but worth it for a date night special occasion, or any excuse that I can find. For years, Zio's was a solid Italian restaurant in Tulsa. No more, and after years I've been looking for a replacement. I've certainly found it in Mondo's. Man, it's great!

Delicious! The Chicken Pomodoro tastes like it is made with fresh-out-of-the-garden tomatoes! The garlic bread with the meal was fresh, warm, buttery & delicious! Waiter gave good service.

This place is great! Me and my boyfriend went there for our anniversary and it was the perfect atmosphere for a date night. Old time feel with the music and old movies. We each got a glass of wine, bruschetta, and Caesar salads. I got the baked Riggatoni and he got a seafood pasta dish. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was excellent! I definitely recommend this place!

Liked: - Pasta & entrees were delicious! - Big portions, great as leftovers - Love the fresh bread Wish were different: - Bad service - Entrees not delivered together - Salmon way to salty - Didn't receive bread before 2 reminders - Salad was similar to what I'd expect from an in-flight meal (get the Caesar, not regular!) - Waiter dropped dirty fork on guest, didn't apologize Strange footnote... The waiter reached between two tables from 6 feet away to hand us the check, forcing me to reach out to grab it.

As much as I love pizza, I'm always a sucker for a sandwich as well. This was one of those situations. I ordered the Mondo's Famous Hero. It's Genoa salami, pepperoni, lettuce, their homemade Italian dressing, capocollo, prosciutto with Italian cheeses on Italian bread. It's a huge sandwich, didn't expect it to be THAT much but it definitely filled me up. It's possible that you could share it with another person. It come with fries as well. Full of flavor & their Italian dressing was great. I would have to go back but only because they serve pizza as well.

Where to start.... first visit and it was nothing short of spectacular. If I had to throw out one complaint, it was the the sunlight being reflected off the passing cars flashing in my eyes.... so I switched to the other side of the table, sat next to my wife and all was right with the universe again. Not much the owners can do about the angle of the sun... Seriously... not one bad thing to say about Mondo's. Traffic was light at 4pm on Saturday, so we were seated immediately. I imagine dinner time is a different story altogether. I'd already been on Yelp! looking at pictures and reviews, so I knew immediately what I was having. Still I nosed around the menu, just for future reference. We started out with the Bruschetta app, and it was excellent. If I have any criticism on this dish, it's just that I prefer my toast to have a little more softness. This was hard core, toasted bread, a la crouton crispy. Still, it had a great flavor and was not over-toasted. The topping was most excellent. Finely chopped tomatos, nicely pungent garlic and rich olive oil, just enough to make a dip and not leave a soggy, oily mess. A little chopped basil would have been another nice layer of flavor, but the dip certainly stood tall without it. I ordered clam chowder while my wife had a salad. The clam chowder was very good. Just the right amount of richness with plenty of clams and the right amount of finely diced potato. The bowl was substantially larger than I expected, but managed to perserver my way through to the bottom. It's not really a traditional chowder per se, as it's a little on the thin side, more along the lines of a nicely full bodied soup. But the flavor is there, the ingredients are fresh and cooked perfectly for a soup, meaning nothing is mushy and overcooked. The wife's salad was, in her words, spectacular. Nice, fresh ingredients, and to her surprise, included artichoke hearts, which she loves. She did cheat and add some of the bruschetta topping, and that took it over the top for her. Yeah, she's like that. With just a few minutes to spare on our apps, our entrees arrived. My clams and linguini were probably the best I've ever eaten, including what I make at home. Soft, and buttery, with an abundance in proportion to the noodles. The linguini was cooked perfectly. As much as I wanted to tear into it and revel in it, I took my time and savored every bite. The wife had chicken pomodoro (of course, she gets it EVERYWHERE, which makes her somewhat of an authority on the dish, I suppose). She too was extremely happy with her selection. She commented on the layers and depth of flavor, as opposed to the glaring 'one-note-ness' of the same dish at other 'Italian' places around town (not namin' names). At her insistence (okay, she offered once) I tried a bite and was duly impressed. The chicken was perfectly grilled and could have stood on its own as an entree. The other ingredients were in perfect proportion and the overall dish was, in her words, the best she's ever had. Sadly, no room could be found for dessert... but I am determined to return for the Tiramisu. And no review would be complete without talking about the service. We had Randy for our server, and he complemented the meal, nay the experience perfectly. Smooth and cordial, he greeted us and helped us through our selections. Very cordial and friendly, Randy is the standard by which I typically measure all servers, and sadly, most fail to live up to. Whenever we return I certainly hope we wind up under Randy's expert care again. Seriously though, he's a great server, knows his menu and ingredients and understands that delicate balance between being at the table and watching the table from a distance. Overall, my experience with Mondo's was one of the best I've had for a restaurant in Tulsa, or anywhere. It's immensely pleasing to see a business of this caliber in Tulsa that's not a franchise. Not that I hate franchise restaurants..... but, yeah, I do... I do. I love local places like Mondo's and will return. The wife suggested Mondo's is a good place for our anniversary and date night dinners, so she's sold.... and if mamma's happy, I'm happy.

Mondo's is great date spot for dinner and drinks!! My husband and I have been here 3 times and have never been disappointed. By far my favorite dish is the lasagna- it is covered with rich meaty red sauce and is enough for two meals! Their calamari was also very tasty with a delicious batter that goes very well with the marinara dipping sauce. And I could not write a review and not mention the drinks! Fantastic homemade limoncello is a must have and they also have a great variety of beer and wine and other specialty cocktails. The lemon drop martini is my go to drink and keeps me coming back every time!

With a fire brick oven for pizzas, truly authentic pasta dishes with high quality pasta and tiramisu imported from Italy... why wouldn't it be a 5 star review? My pasta pamadoro with chicken was cooked absolutely al dante and the roma tomatoes that adorned the dish were fresh and flavorful. A heaping portion gave me 2 extra meals to take home! It came with my choice of salad or soup. I went with the Caesar salad; it was crisp and accompanied the pasta perfectly. All of this plus garlic bread for a price point of $15 is a steal! Whatever you do... don't skip the tiramisu! OH MY GOSH. I have had many a tiramisu and I can confidently say this is THE best I have ever had ANYwhere. Thanks to our wonderful server, Candace, and all of the the above: you bet I'm going to be checking in at Mondo's on the reg.

For solid Italian food in Tulsa, you can't go wrong with Mondo's. The place has a warm, family style atmosphere that encourages conversation. I really liked the old school silent Chaplin movies playing in the background...a very nice touch. If you don't have reservations, note that this place starts hopping around 7:30ish. The food is good. Not fantastic, but hearty and well done. Wine list is well thought out, as well as the suggested food pairings. The service is pretty fantastic. Our server was friendly, upbeat and extremely knowledgeable about the fare. I would go back again.

What can I say about this ristorante? Service, family, food, quality, hospitality. We've been here several times and experience the same awesomeness. This is truly a rare family ran business. Not sure if the waitstaff is family or not but they're certainly engaged and friendly. Randy is my favorite waiter- doesn't rush you in and out...gives honest meal suggestions. Jimmy the bar keep makes the best lemon drop martini in town and is a pleasure to make small talk with. The restaurant can get loud at times but overall a great atmosphere. Kids and family on weeknights and date night on Saturday.

Love Mondos! The food is great~ it actually tastes like real Italian food and not microwaved Lean Cuisines like chain Italian restaurants The bread they continually bring to your table is fresh and lightly coated on top with garlic butter. The salads are good, but I give the edge to the house salad vs. the Caesar. Their Caesar dressing is a little watery. The minestrone soup Is really good...big pieces of vegetables and pasta make it a filling soup. Every entree I've tasted at Mondos has been awesome...I havent had any fish or steak dishes but the pasta dishes are great! Portions are large and with the free bread and salad you'll leave full! The tiramisu is wonderful too! Perfect end to an Italian meal. The atmosphere at Mondos is good...it fills up for dinner fast so go early or reserve a table if you can. It's not a huge restaurant so there arent that many seats to begin with...also if you prefer a booth youll love Mondos. They have several large half circle booths that are very comfortable and relaxing to enjoy your meal!

Nice ambiance...nice staff...but here is the problem...unfortunately the food is horrible. Since when is chicken parm just a piece of chicken with a slice of cheese and red sauce? Hello? Chicken parm is breaded with melted parm on it! Fail#1, serving day old garlic bread is Fail #2. The minestrone was not even better than the organic soup out of the can from whole foods. I was very disappointed because the ambiance is very charming and there is so much potential. However there are many better Italian places that have better food!

Nice atmosphere, like everyone says. The bread was good. Service was good. The food on the other hand was not. I got the Alfredo Mondo Style. It was advertised to have Capocollo in Alfredo sauce. It was, from the best I could tell, chopped Pepperoni?? I questioned the waitress and she assured me that it was supposed to be and was Capocollo. The sauce was more like a cream sauce than an Alfredo. The two others I dined with did not enjoy their food either one said that it was bland and my friend that isn't that picky didn't like his beef sandwich, he kept complaining that it wasn't steak, but he wasn't sure what it was. Also I found it odd that they had got their salt and pepper shakers at the same place that McDonalds does, and their Parmesan was in shakers like Pizza Hut. The bread was the only thing that keeps it from getting a one star in my opinion.

I eat here all the time. It is bar far my favorite Italian Restaurant in Tulsa. Things I love;their Italian Sausage, their meatballs, lasagna, the meat sauce, the red sauce, the linguine with clam sauce (holy smokes, this is incredible!), the Mob Salad and the blackened chicken salad. There are so many more things here that people rave about, but these are my favorite things. My wife is a huge fan of the ravioli. Personally, I think their Calamari appetizer is done better than anyone in town. Oh, and I love the Roberto pizza! The atmosphere is really cool, too. Family pics are all over the walls and old movies are playing on the walls too. The fact the family owns and runs it and comes around to see you is pretty cool. I have taken people from NYC who eat great Italian food all the time and they say Mondo's is up there with the best!

Excellent food and amazing service! My daughter had the meatball sandwich and loved it! I had the chicken picatta and the house salad, both were perfect! Our server was knowledgable and helpful. I have absolutely no complaints, we will be back!

Great Tulsa tradition continues the wonderful food and service I remember as a kid. They provide consistent quality and fantastic dishes. You must try the ravioli, huge pillows of pasta filled with herbs and cheeses. You can also take a pizza home with you to enjoy.

We had a great first experience at Mondo's. I really liked the decor and silent movies playing on the wall. It was pretty small inside, so definitely make reservations if you're planning on eating here. I ordered the chicken piccata which came with capers and mushrooms marinated in a creamy lemon/white wine sauce. It was delicious! It also came with a side of spaghetti and their house meat sauce which was also good. My meal came with a soup or salad so I decided to go with the clam chowder. It was well seasoned and had a good ratio of clam to soup. The service at Mondo's is by far the best I've seen in a while. They seem to work more as a team similar to Red Rock Canyon Grill than just the one waiter per table philosophy. I would recommend Mondo's to anyone in the mood for Italian!

Would have gave this place 5 stars if it weren't so small. Aside from that the service was great! The owner even came by our table to greet us and see how our meal was going. The food complimented the service. I did not, I repeat, I did not have anything left to go! It was that good! Would definitely go back!

Most items are pretty good. Used to be better. They changed their bread loafs from Italian to a weird consistency loaf that not good at all, you still eat it because that's all there is. Also they used to have home made thick noodle spaghetti. Now it's the same thin stuff you can buy at walmart. If the prices were more in line with other Italian restaurants in tulsa it would get two and half stars. Bring back the real Italian bread, three stars. Not popular for lunch as lunch prices are same as dinner prices. Who does that? No one

First, the woman hosting (who I imagined to be the owner) was so very sweet - checking on my party when we were waiting for a seat. You need to have reservations if you don't want to wait. It was a Tuesday night and it was packed - I wish the restaurant was twice the size!! The food was excellent - what I imagined grandmother would cook if she were Italian. Reminds me of an amped up Mary's - food portions are bigger and red sauce is the major draw. Taste the ravioli and shrimp limone... We loved everything we got and had huge take away bags for home. One thing - eat the tiramisu!! It's just as good as ti Amos's which is the best in town!

So glad to have a good, non artsy Italian place in Brookside! I loved the original Mondo's and the new is still great. The garlic bread they serve before your meal is awesome. The ravioli and pizzas are delicious. The space is very elegant. If you are looking for simply great italian food, I recommend Mondo's. My next trip, I'm trying the lasagna!

Perfect Italian cuisine! The ambiance and family feel of this eatery is enhanced by well prepared food at very reasonable prices! Our server Luke did a great job guiding us through the menu and serving us delicious Italian food! Highly recommend!

For over thirty years, Mondo's has maintained their classic flavors in all their traditional dishes. it was a great comfort to come in to find both the hospitality and food up to their old high standards, and the decor beyond. While the digs have become more upscale, the atmosphere remains as comfortable as your favorite pair of jeans. The Aloisios make sure of it! My favorites include the clams linguine in a family-secret buttery sauce, and their ravioli and manicotti in their infamous meat sauce. Gone is the salad bar (where would they put it), but the dinner salad they serve more than compensates. This place reminds of the saying, "The more things change, the more they stay the same." In this case, that's a good thing.

We had been to mondo before and had decent food with lousy service. We decided to give it another shot. This time we never made it to the food. We waited 30 minutes to squeeze into our seats and then sat for 10 more while the people sitting after us got waited on. As I handed our menus to the girl at the front on the way out, she gave me a nasty look and started bad mouthing us to the waiter next to her. We will never be back. Lots of cheaper Italian places in Tulsa .

Our Family Loves Mondo's. Great pasta and pizza. Easy atmosphere. Small, so make a reservation if you're going at a peak time. Soups are not so great, but we love everything else. Highly Recommend! Glad to have it in MidTown.

Mondo's has a great atmosphere, and attentive waitstaff. The food was pretty good, though for the price I would expect better. I tried bites of the rigatoni and clams and linquine. Both were decent, but nothing to write home about. The pizza is just ok also. The salad was probably the tastiest part of the meal. One annoying thing was that the waiter took my salad plate before I was finished with it to put the entree dish in front of me without even asking. I was talking to someone and didnt even know it was gone until it was too late.

This place has got it going on like nobody's business! I ventured here with my good friend and her babe. Her pregnant self was super craving Italian and who am I to deny a dear friend such a request?! I say this because I am not usually a big fan of Italian cuisine. It's one of those few and far between meals I like to have. We started with the Italian Cheese Bread appetizer (drool over picture below). It was fantastic, their marinara is one to write home about. (Okay maybe only if your home is Italy) They also brought us their garlic bread which is complimentary and delicious. Per usual I fill-packed my body with breads before a meal of basically more bread. I ordered the Carbonara Fettuccine Alfredo, ughhh so good. With the Capocollo Ham being the perfect touch. My friend ordered the Chicken Parmesan which she was said could not have been more perfect. Mike ordered the pizza you see below and made several amazing comments on it so next time I think that might be what I do. You can't go wrong with Pizza anyhow!! Last but not least, dessert!! Whit and I ordered Tiramisu to share (smart choice) and it was fantastic. I'd kill for some more right now. On top of superb food, our waitress was top notch. She was one of the most pleasantly polite wait staff I have ever had. Helpful, patient, you name it, that was she! The ambiance here is wonderful to boot. They've got old movies playing (sans sound) and many vintage and elegant photos surrounding your every angle. Keep in mind this place has a small bar as well, with what I hear makes fantastic beverages. You could come out and just share an appetizer and have a few drinks. I'm going to keep this place in mind when I'm up to that next time. ;) Cheers. See you at Mondo's.

The atmosphere inside the restaurant is adorable; the old black and white movies playing on the wall is adorable. It's a little tight in space. The service was great. I'd recommended for a date night or a girls night. For dinner we started with our salads (dinner & Cesar) nothing special. Our appetizer was average we ordered spinach artichoke dip and it was too heavy on the cream cheese. our main dishes where excellent the fettuccine Alfredo was delicious it had a great thick sauce and we enjoyed the pasta pomodora with rope sausage. Just spicy enough for taste. We devoured the dinner bread every time it came out. So good. I'd definitely recommend if you haven't been.

Sat at the Bar.. Jimmy was fantastic with quick drink service and we let him order for us 1st was anti pasta platter Then It came out 1 Caesar salad and 1 house salad with their house Italian Then came chicken Parmesan and raviolis both house favorites and fantastic tasting!! What a nice hidden gem right in the heart of Brookside I was having a drink at R bar across the street while waiting for the line to go down! Mondos had quite a wait until around 8 o'clock.

This place has a ton of hype, and is decent, but isn't going to knock the socks off of anyone who's a fairly accomplished authentic Italian eater. My girlfriend lived in Italy during college and was very excited to try this place only to be extremely let down by the Manicotti she ordered. She left pretty upset, but has since returned to the restaurant and had a much more enjoyable experience. I tried the linguini with clams. It wasn't at all what I expected, but was a decent enough dish for someone like myself who isn't a particularly picky eater. The space is a lot smaller than I thought it would be when we entered off the street, but it was a pretty neat vibe and decor. This place basically seemed like a local version of Olive Garden with much more acceptable pricing. If you like Italian food and cool atmosphere you'll really enjoy this place, if you're a very seasoned authentic Italian eater who can taste the difference in quality just by sniffing the sauce, you'll probably be let down and would prefer D'Allesandro's or Villa Ravena more.

Mondo's on Brookside is a Tulsa classic. It's in a cool location. You can walk up and down Peoria and then have dinner at Mondo's. It's a nice place and is priced accordingly; you may even have to wait a little while to be seated. I've had a few of the dishes and all are good. My favorite is the fettuccine alfredo. Is it good for you? No, it's not. Is it an excellent taste treat? It is. The sauce is super creamy and it's a pretty healthy portion. I've also tasted the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs are a homemade recipe - they're definitely different than what you're going to eat at Zio's. The sauce is sweeter than many you'll have at Italian restaurants; I prefer this so I think it's really good. The most unique food item at Mondo's is probably the bread. Usually bread isn't too sexy or exciting, but the bread somehow manages to differentiate Mondo's. It's just normal bread, but they smother it in a buttery spread that is both sweet and buttery. I doubt too many cardiologists recommend it, but it's an indulgence unique to Mondo's. Overall, Mondo's isn't particularly cheap but it is particularly awesome. The walls are plastered in the old photos and it has a hole-in-the-wall feel even though it's not a tiny restaurant. The food is excellent and it's a place every Tulsans needs to try.

@ Mondo's. Eaten here forever-- remember the original? Arrived early, 5:30ish, starved. Ordered the shrimp appetizer, yum! Waiter Conner must be new-- no upsell, nothing. Actually served appetizer to the three of us w/ no serving utensil. The momentary ho

Cute atmosphere, comfy booth, great service- Long wait without a reservation! Definitely recommend a reservation. Chicken Marsala was very good, excellent sauce! Really disappointed with the pizza we ordered though. Veggie "Cristo"- hearty veggie toppings, but they were so moist that it made the crust soggy- a bummer! I wasn't impressed with the bread, but the garlic butter was yummy. The artichoke spinach dip was a great appetizer! House salad was good as well. Italian cre r cake for dessert was awesome as well!

This place is interesting; I couldn't get past how the playful red and yellow logo is in such contrast to the modern decor on the inside. The plastic menu also felt like I was eating more at a family Mexican restaurant than a Brookside restaurant in Center One. The projected old movies on the wall did provide a nice atmosphere as well as the family pictures. Beer selection was a tad on the small side, but one Marshal offering. This isn't what I would call authentic Italian food; I tried the shrimp limone. I would have liked more shrimp (an that wasn't overcooked) than the 4 portions of pasta that came with. It was maybe slightly above what you'd find at Olive Garden, but I was a little disappointed. I am curious about trying the pizza; but its really hard to get past the juxtaposition of the decor/logo/menu.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
