Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Very good authentic Mexican food in a casual setting. The service was friendly. Not the best neighborhood, I don't think I would go there after dark.

This is an extremely authentic Mexican joint tucked into a strip mall. When I was there the place was full of mexicans making it all the more authentic. I can always rate a Mexican restaurant by how many true hispanics are there. The guy who took our order was super nice and very helpful. I had a pastor taco and an asada taco. Both were good but lacking something. I enjoyed my experience but I would recommend the Mister Taco stand located at 130 N Lewis ave. or Los Hermanos taco stand at Garnett and 31st. Both of these places offer the same food(s)/choices but they have the spunk i was looking for and they are both a little cheaper.

You will only find this place if you ate looking for it. For the most part I agree with John K's review. I have been trying to eat at the nastiest most authentic tacos shops I can find. Having said that this place is not nasty at all but is very authentic. I was very pleased with their tacos however I thought they were missing something that really made them stand out. The service was very good and the people polite. Expect it to be busy if you go for lunch. I am definitely going back to this place.

A quick update regarding my still favorite authentic Mexican food in Tulsa... 1. I dropped La Flama a star because I am beginning to have doubts. Doubts you say? Aye. I know that the ratings are a tad "tongue-in-cheek," but the idea of rating any place "As Good As It Gets" is a little much. Sure. I am taking it all a little too seriously, but I want to be as authentic to my ratings as possible and I honestly can not judge La Flama the best there is. So, I dropped it a spot, but with the understanding that it will be hard for me to ever give a place five stars. Meaning... four stars is pretty damn good. 2. I want to thank a fellow yelper for his backhanded compliment. It is not everyday that I am called a prejudiced moron for the following: "I was glad that I soon finished eating, because I got out of there before the NRA wonks decided shooting for the heck of it!" I guess since I have trouble rating any place five stars because of the wording, then I should have realized that someone else would take my review/words seriously enough to consider me a prejudiced moron! So, since we yelpers take our reviews and the reviews of others very seriously, I thought that I would turn my customary nitpicking of food to the word that caused me to receive a "compliment" and the two words that were used as a descriptive of me. First, in regards to "wonk." wonk - 1. a person who is obsessively interested in a specified subject Hmm... Seems like I nailed it on the head here. The only point for the existence of the NRA is to protect the second amendment. And I would say that it does so obsessively. So, I will just chalk up your "compliment" of me to woeful ignorance. No apology needed. Second, in regards to "prejudiced" and "moron." They are defined as: prejudiced - 1. a. An adverse judgment or opinion formed beforehand or without knowledge or examination of the facts. 1. b. A preconceived preference or idea. moron - 1. A stupid person; a dolt. 2. Psychology A person of mild mental retardation having a mental age of from 7 to 12 years and generally having communication and social skills enabling some degree of academic or vocational education. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive. Once again, it is hard to be prejudiced when I simply stated that the guy had a Glock 9mm in his lap and I wanted out of there in case his fear got the best of him. Sure, I probably should not have lumped him in with the NRA, because it was an assumption. But, I believe it to be an accurate assumption. (Oh, if you also did not notice, I am specific about the type of pistol it was. Being from Oklahoma, it is danged near impossible to not be raised around guns and not know a lot about them.) Lastly, I do not appreciate being called a moron, but I will just chalk it up to ignorance of the situation and a knee jerk reaction on the gentleman's part. Simply, I will let bygones be bygones and leave you all with this... I have always found it best to think using my brain and not my "heart," because when I let emotion rule the day, it always gets me in trouble. Of course, I try to live up to this creed daily, and unfortunately, I still oftentimes fail. Oh... I almost forgot... If anyone is interested, the first amendment comes before the second amendment for a reason!

We actually rented out the entire restaurant, and had a really amazing time. The drinks were STRONG! and the food was good. Good menu full of authentic dishes.

Quite good Taco's, I had the Carne Asada and Al Pastor. The green salsa is really good to go with them. The area of town isn't the best, but the people are friendly, and the prices are decent.

My 14 year old and I stopped in one day after the lunch rush because we had heard good things. First the good: The food was delicious and fresh. The lady who took our order was helpful, polite and quick. It's a nice departure from tex-mex, which I also like, but it's nice to get something a little more authentic sometimes. The bad: This is basically one step above a taco truck in atmosphere. Fortunately, I like food more than I like ambience so that's ok. The neighborhood is not great, and the restaurant is clean but really a hole in the wall kind of place. You order at the counter and the menu is pretty much just written on the wall, so if you're new to the place and want to look over the menu it's a little awkward. And they don't seem to have fountain drinks, just bottled sodas and water which is not my preference. That's just me though, you may not care about that. That's pretty much it. Good food, helpful staff, but really a counter service place in a pretty unassuming location. I think we paid about $17 for two dinners and 2 drinks. I'll probably go back and I think I'd probably like it better a second time now that I know better what they have, since I don't like feeling rushed to order in a new place.
