We visited Carinos on our first ever trip to Oklahoma. We are in town from Phoenix,Az to find a home as we are relocating here. What an excellent first impression. Vicki M (server number 1429) was outstanding in friendliness, and service. I give her a fantastic rating and Johnny Carinos as well for the amazing FRESH BAKED HOT BREAD and a delicious Italian sirloin. $1.29 draft beers for happy hour we will be back when we get our family moved in

Wife and I had dinner at Carino's last night. We were looking forward to outdoor dining and relaxing. We arrived about 9:20, restaurant closing at 10:00. Server was not overly helpful...just enough to do her job. I was happy with my Carino Combo entree of lasagna, chicken parmi and spaghetti. Wife's artichoke pasta was not very good. Margarita was cheap price and I fear cheaply made as is resulted in headache. All in all probably won't be back.

Great service, nice view of river from outside porch, and fantastic food. We had the lemon rosemary chicken. This is a low fat / lower cal dish truly tasted great. Everything was very fresh and seasoned perfectly. We will absolutely be back.

To start out I think Johnny Carino's is an average chain italian restaurant, and a below average italian restaurant. After saying that I do however like there lunch special. I work right by a Johnny Carino's, and I have been there several times during lunch. They have a unlimited pick two of soup, salad, or half entree. You have the choice of either caesar salad or house salad, three different types of soups, and roughly 8 entrees. I believe this lunch special they have is only $6.99 which is a pretty good deal. I personally have only gone with the salad and soup which both times were enjoyable, but they were not anything to write home about. I have seen other get the entrees, and from what they say, they are not bad. I think the best thing about Johnny Carino's though is there oil and vinegar that comes with their bread, which a lot of italian restaurants do, but Carino's oil and vinegar comes with roasted garlic. Over all I would go to a lot of other places before Carino's, but like I said their lunch special is good for the price.

I haven't been to a "Carino's Italian" (as I hear they're now called) in a minute, and when I walked into this place I seriously could forget I was in Tulsa. I don't mean I feel like I'm in Italy, necessarily, but these stores seem to be very very consistent- you could be anywhere. Even the staff seems to look the same from location to location. I can just sit there and imagine I'm at the Carino's in Pittsburgh, or Durham... or Clifton, which are all, apparently, really really good. Yes. I'm a fan. I'm a fan of free crunchy roasted garlic with bread and oil for everybody. I'm a fan of an open kitchen- I like seeing what I'm eating, and I feel like it cuts down on sneaky stuff I hope doesn't really happen in restaurants. I also think that there's more booths per capita than any other restaurant. Great idea- who doesn't want a booth? Also, they make their own tiramisu. The ONLY thing that holds this back from 5 stars is their silly take out service where you stay in your car... I don't trust this system yet for some reason (not just here but at all places who do this). The one time I tried it I sat in my car for a half an hour thinking everything was okay before the server came out and explained that whoever took the order left without telling anyone. (See?) Then, when I got home, there was none of the crunchy garlic that I love so much. Past that, this place is polished from top to bottom, just like the rest that I've seen.

It's been a while since I've eaten at a Carino's and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. We went on a Friday night around 6pm and they weren't busy at all. Luckily for us as we were seated immediately and waiting on quickly. They have a happy hour special from 4 - 7 which includes a discount on draft beers. The beer list includes the alcohol percentage and prices for bottles and drafts. The entrees include all you can eat soup or salad. I'd recommend the Italian chili soup, even though it's more of a tomato based Italian sausage soup. Very tasty and worth a second cup. The others in my party ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and split it. With the salads, they were both full. I had the shrimp and fettuccine and was disappointed with the shrimp. Would have been a 3 star rating if it wasn't for the soup and service. Give it a try and let everyone know what you think. Enjoy!

Walked in at 8:30 for dinner to grab a bite to eat. Sat at the bar. Bartender/"manager" was cleaning the bar area...slamming heavy glasses storage racks on the bar, spraying chemicals and yelling for other staff to get things for her. Her hands arms shirt face and hair was a mess. She was sweating like a pig. She had to make a drink for someone outside the bar area and didn't even wash her hands before. She handled fruit for the drink. It was as if they had just closed down the restaurant... But they don't close until 10 PM. The only reason they didn't get one star is because the food was good and the young blond waitress who helped me was very good.

I thought it was worth mentioning a couple things after dining here about 10 more times. For starters-- SIT WITH MAX in the bar when you go. His service is very attentive and consistent. I think he has been promoted to a shift leader, but he still waits tables and tends the bar. The tube TV's have been replaced with flat screens. I tried to sit outside subsequent times and the experience was slightly better, but still not worth it. It's a pretty nice patio, but I just don't think the restaurant views it as anything but an afterthought. We still frequent it because we like the food and the prices really are unbeatable.

The food is fine and the service when we visited (Sunday lunch) was adequate -- nothing spectacular on either count. The prices seemed a little steep for food and service that is not out of the ordinary. The tables are a little closer together than is comfortable. We had to ask for water refills and more bread, which is usually done automatically at other places. The menu has good variety and interesting dishes.

Coworkers and I dine at this location frequently and for the most part (excluding one horrible plate of flavorless pasta) the food is good. There are two servers that are fantastic while the rest are rude, inattentive, and downright bad at their job. The restaurant has only been busy once while we visited and dead on every other visit. I now understand why at lunch in a prime location with fantastic specials this restaurant has very little business. Customer service is key and they don't have it.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
