India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.

Definitely underrated taking into consideration that it is located in a place where authentic food from any country is not exactly easily accessible. So yes, definitely giving it 5 stars: as good as it gets in Tulsa (endorsement approved by my Indian friends as well). Himalayas offers an Indian buffet with an array of dishes to choose from. I would typically grab a plate and get a little bit of everything, but my Indian friend taught me how to eat properly in stages. She explained the order in which they partake each dish and I wish I could remember it all. Regardless, they have slightly different options for lunch and dinner (more variety during dinner). They do a great job providing variety in appetizers and vegetables (4 or 5 different ones), rice and chicken (3 different kinds), soups (usually 2 options), at least one beef item and one seafood item (usually shrimp)...sometimes they have lamb and they offer 2-4 different desserts. Great price for all the different options. I also like how they have dishes from both north and south India. They have vegetarian options and they have a menu that makes the distinction between the dishes if you want to order off the menu. The employees are also happy to point out what is veggie-friendly in the buffet (samosas, cutlet, masala vadai, papadam, etc). I hear they serve dishes made from halal meat as well. I like how each item on the buffet is labeled too. As far as taste goes, there was no single thing I didn't like. The Masala Dosai is amazing (rice crepes with mash potatoes). My favorite chicken dishes are the varutha curry and the tikka masala. I absolutely loved the beef vindaloo, I loved the spiciness to it. Their basmati rice was great too, I like the one with dried fruits and nuts. Their naan is perfect. As far as desserts, their mango kulfi and rice kheer are great. Most people find them to be too sweet but I like the sweetness, you can always counteract it with their strong madras coffee. They also have mango lassi (refreshing yogurt drink). Customer service was above and beyond. My friend made several requests that weren't offered on the buffet and our waiter complied with a smile on his face every time. He asked how everything was at the right timing and made sure our plates were cleared promptly and drinks re-filled. Great price for all you get also.

Considering the options you get for Indian food in Tulsa, I would say this is the very best. They have a pretty good selection on their buffet. The flavors come from the southern part of India so it will be on a spicier side for most Non-Indians. I really loved the chicken curry (as authentic as it can get). The staff is very friendly too. I would definitely go there again.

This is the most authentic Indian food in Tulsa. The buffet is a good value and it is pretty fresh for a buffet.

Sunday Lunch buffet was the best buffet selections I have ever had the pleasure of participating in. If I lived in the area, we would be regulars. Selection was vast, flavors excellent! My favorite new dish was the Pineapple Halwa-delicious!!

Decent food and taste. Interesting rice varieties. The chicken was substandard and very little white meat in their Tiki Masala and such. For the price, they shouldn't be so cheap. I've had Sunday buffets with better Tiki Masala with cubed/skewered/grilled white meat for much less. The mango pudding was full of apples and bananas...why not mangos? No Indian samosas, either.

Average. Few of the dishes are good. Liked the samosa chat and goat biryani. Chicken tikka masala was sweet. All the other curries were average. In deserts, halwa and gulab jamun were tasty. The ambience is average. Overall I would say it was an average experience!

I think this place is great quality and location for the price. The buffet seemed relatively fresh even right before closing and the selection was decent. A good choice for overall value. Recommended for those looking for variety and value over high quality and ambiance.

So I will preface this review by stating that I was "terrified" of Indian food. I've had Indian food probably 3 times before this experience. Each time it was terrible. I didn't know what I was ordering and was never happy with it. I jumped at the chance to go here when a co-worker suggested it. It was a buffet. Perfect! I can try very small amounts of things until I find something I like and be all set! So we make the trip and wind up at a very unassuming building that looks like an old fast food shop turned "sit down" restaurant. Inside the place looks very unassuming. Assortment of tables, odds and ends decorations and then the wall with the buffet. We get our plates and I take one of everything save for a few items that just did not look like a "good time". I was an instant convert. Everything I had was good. Visually speaking the colors of the food are quite striking and without being obnoxious I will simply state that for most Western or close minded eaters, it can be a bit of a shock. The flavors though were great. Service with a smile by the very friendly staff, and if you are a big eater, this buffet is awesome. Around $9 and you can just gorge yourself in the flavors of India. I should write slogans. So yeah, put the look of the building out of your mind, put the look of the food out of your mind if you are not used to Indian cuisine, and eat it. It is awesome.

My first time eating Indian and I love it! Nothing overly spicy hot. Everything on the buffet was super fresh. When word gets out, they are going to have to expand that tiny dining room. Restrooms didn't look too promising so I didn't go in. Nice clean interior though. Super filling. Hot fresh naan was amazing. $11.95 lunch & dinner on Sunday. I liked the service- quiet but quickly removed our empty plates and kept our drinks full.

Great buffet! The flavors are amazing. The quality is amazing. So many dishes are good its difficult to choose a favorite, although I put the vegetable Korma at the top.

We loved this little restaurant. The very personable owner explained the buffet and was very polite. We tried everything, and it was all equally good. We were on the way home to Joplin from the airport when we discovered Himalaya. I loved the dal and the little galab juman (doughy balls floating in honey sauce) the best, but everything was tasty and fresh. My only complaint was I couldn't take any individual items home. Just means I get to return!

Love this restaurant. They hosted our soccer team on short notice and had such a delicious variety that everyone enjoyed it. The dishes are very good and fresh. The manager is also very nice.

I've been a big fan of Indian food for a long time, though I've found the options in Tulsa to be somewhat lacking in comparison to bigger, more international cities like New York or - especially - London. (That should come as no surprise to most, I'm sure.) India Palace has typically been the most reliable for me, but I thought I'd try this place out upon recommendation from a co-worker. First off, the good points. The service is attentive and very friendly. The waitresses made sure our water glasses stayed full (or near) and the waiter stopped by our table first thing to give us fresh naan after the buffet platter went empty before we could get any. The other obvious positive is the cheap price. $10.95 for a dinner buffet is a steal given the selection on offer, and I can see why a lot of young foreign students frequent the place. The food itself is good. Not great, but good. We pretty much got directed straight to the buffet after being seated. Judging from other reviews there is apparently a menu available, but they made no mention of it to us. I found the different curries to be a bit thin and not very aromatic or complex. The samosas were tasty, but the pakoras were a bit blah overall. Even the chutneys seemed a little toned down compared to what I'm used to. The desserts on the other hand (halwa, gulab jamun, some variety of kheer, mango pudding) were hyper-sweet. Even a small amount of them was a bit much. I can't speak for how different dishes ordered from the menu are (assuming that they are), but all in all I found it to be palatable, if not particularly memorable, buffet food. The atmosphere isn't much to speak of. Fairly simple decor, with a bit of an old and worn feel to the place. For what it is though, it's still worth going to if you want a variety of tasty enough, decently authentic Indian food at a low price.

Really good selection on the buffet and it was all freshly made. Good service too. Best Gulab Jamun I have ever found at a buffet. Dinner buffet was only $10.95. We will be back!

Buffet has all the staples you'd expect but does none well. Veg is over cooked and meat is all dark meat. Too expensive for what you get.
(2)Max M.
Great Indian food! They have a large buffet with many popular Indian dished. One of my favorite places to eat at in Tulsa.

My girlfriend and I recently took a trip to Tulsa and had to get creative in finding vegan food. This place was somewhat near our hotel so we decided to give their all-day buffet a chance. I asked the waiter which items were vegan and he did not seem to understand the word (I'm not in Portland anymore!), so I told him no dairy, no ghee... He then proceeded to point us towards some meat dishes, so I reminded him no meat. When new dishes were brought out he made sure to tell us which ones were okay and which ones weren't. I'm still not 100% convinced that we had ghee free food, but we tried our best in trying circumstances. Oklahoma is not Portland that is for sure! The food was pretty good too, but a bit spicier than I am used to.

Delicious food. Have been here a few times and will keep coming back. Love that it's a buffet!
(5)Adam B.
The staff there is VERY nice, and even if you do the buffet, the service is awesome. The food is... well, it's fine. I didn't find it to be bad, and there was plenty of variety, but it wasn't memorable. If you want a dinner buffet, they may be the only game in town, but the "other Indian place" in Tulsa that has a buffet has better food (albiet with fewer options). When someone was asking me about good Indian food in Tulsa, I found that this place did not spring immediately to mind, although I had eaten there less than a week before. That tells me something. One last note: $10.95 seems reasonable for a dinner buffet, but not a lunch buffet. For the price, the other places in town is money better spent.

Great buffet for vegetarian and vegan folk!

Just ate here for the first time and we will definitely be back! Haven't had Indian food this good since eating at the temple. You want to eat here!
(4)Brett P.
Lunch buffet has good variety, but it's not all that great taste-wise. The lunch price is a bit high as well. Not a lot of seating.
(2)Lyn C.
The buffet here is wonderfully varied and full of spice. It's a direct contrast to that other Indian place, which seems to have dulled down its food to accommodate the American palate. I suggest adapting one's palate to the gloriousness that is classic Indian food. It is truly delicious and there's enough variety in the level of spice that EVERYone will be pleased here. As one would expect with a buffet, there is some variation on any given day, but given that's the case with all buffets, this restaurant is superb. We love Himalayas and eat there as often as we can.
