Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Food was great! Service was great! Patio was great! Wine was great! Enjoyed Sunday lunch for the first time with my mom and it was outstanding. The tortellini add shrimp is the way to go!

Love this place! Great service! Great vibe! Great food! The antipasto meat & cheese tray for an appetizer is a perfect way to start this Italian meal! Pizzas are full of flavor & way above your standard pizza joint! Love!!

First the pros- I was happy to be able to get a reservation for two on a Friday night a couple hours before I wanted to dine. Also, I really dug the Grand Budapest Hotel artwork on the walls. It also had a nice outdoor patio. Now, the cons - Walking in you immediately noticed the smoke smell. There is a cigar place next door and I assume they share ventilation. A little off-putting but not enough to ruin a meal. We were seated. Aaaaaand waited while the table next to us (which was seated about 10 minutes after us) was greeted and brought their drinks. I finally was able to make eye contact with a server who seemed to just be standing around by the kitchen. Service was attentive after this, if not super friendly. We ordered the salumi and cheese plate. It had an arrangement of prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, brie, etc. The menu boasted fresh mozzarella, which was absent. There WAS mozzarella but it was sliced deli mozzarella. Maybe most people think fresh mozzarella means fresh from the Sargento package? We ordered the Island pie. It wasn't bad. It wasn't awesome. The crust was nice and thin, if lacking flavor. My dinner companion suggested the crust should have been crispier but I'll leave that up to personal taste. Moving on to desert. Now, before dining I had read a lot of exciting reviews about their gelato. So, obviously I was excited to try it. This was the most disappointing part of the evening. We ordered the brownie with gelato on top. I'm pretty sure the brownie was cooked in a mug in the microwave. Has anyone ever tried those "mug brownies" on pinterest? I have. I assure you they are tasty, but not what I am expecting at a restaurant downtown. And the gelato.... it was hard and tasted of freezer, as if it had been made/purchased 3 weeks prior and then forgotten, uncovered. In addition, the "scoop" was a tablespoon size portion. In summary, a good location with a nice patio and ambiance. Food and service need work.

The cool art work is worth a look, even if you just drop in for a drink. Nice, casual atmosphere. I went here for lunch with a group. We had called ahead, and they were very accommodating. I had the tomato bisque soup and grilled vegetable plate. The soup was great and the veggies were beyond amazing. They were served with a pesto type sauce that was spicy and went great with the vegetables. All my friends' food looked great as well. They have homemade gelato. I had a bite of the cookie dough and would recommend you get that as well. Our waitress was nice and helpful. The only complaint is that it did take a bit to get our food, but that could have been due to having 10 people. There is also outside seating.

Nice service, decent patio but it's shared with the cigar car, so be prepared to sit in cigar smoke! Food is good, drinks are ok! I enjoyed their pizza, would order it again.

I got The Diablo. Pepperoni, Italian sausage, peppered bacon & jalapeños. Greatness. With the toppings, the spice & sweet balance out. The bacon was sweet (unexpected) & seems like the sauce was a tad bit sweet as well, not in a bad way, it was still good. The pizza was huge, NY style. Also, after paying for the pizza, they provided complementary cookies. Oatmeal & chocolate chip. I think there was coconut in it as well, it was real good. They have a lot of pizzas to choose from. They have other stuff like calzone, salad, pasta, etc. Also, they have 1/2 price appetizers during lunch hours, along with beers for $3.50.

First of all, it was a First Friday Art Walk night. However, they were not prepared. We were seated almost immediately, but finally flagged down a server after 10-15 minutes and we still had to wait for someone to take our order. Ordered a dinner salad, it was good. We ordered the Jalapeño salsa appetizer, I enjoy spicy food, but it was over powered by the jalapeños. One of my dining partners who eats out frequently, agreed, it was too spicy to enjoy. All four of my dining companions ran out of water, twice. I've eaten at Hey Mambo twice before and had a fine dining experience, so I'll try them again and hope to upgrade my 3 stars to 4 or 5 stars. Also, if you order additional bread for the super spicy dip, they will charge you $2. That's fine, wish they would have mentioned that upon ordering. I'll return to try the pizza which looked pretty epic.

Mediocre Italian food, manager had very bad attitude when we disliked the wine that was suggested. Dishes lacked flavor and enough sauce. Also the "chicken Marsala" is exactly what a chicken Parmesan is at any other restaurant. Nothing like a Marsala wine sauce.

I really wanted to love this place. We came here for lunch today and I have to say, I doubt that I'll be back. To start with the place is nice enough and they sat us right away. The waiter was over very quickly to take our drink orders and he was very good. We had our menus and we selected our food. And that's when things went downhill. It was a cold, rainy day so there were very few people in the restaurant. In spite of that, it took nearly 30 minutes to get our food. I ordered a calzone and my friend had the po' boy special. His came with soup, which he couldn't finish because it was completely lacking taste. He really enjoyed his sandwich, though. The calzone was good. Nothing to write home about but it was okay. That alone would not get them two stars, even on top of the 30 minute wait. What really brought them down was that the bill was higher than the prices on the menu. That's enough to keep me away. Sorry, Mambo but I don't care for being over-charged. Especially after such a long wait for mediocre food.
(2)Kathryn M.
Had the chicken Marsala. Large portion and good flavor. Would have given four stars but we could smell cigarette smoke every time the kitchen door opened.

A unique little spot to try a more unique pizza. Yes, they have the old standbys for those who like a traditional pizza. However, if you wish to try something new Hey Mambo will oblige. Original offerings for their pizzas: some with honey, some with pear, some with walnuts. Nothing ventured nothing gained, all will be delightful I assure you. Next time your in the Brady district, pop in and sit at the bar. The owner is on hand to make convo with you and let you in on his offerings. Often times there is live music to enhance your evening. Enjoy!

Food is good, but service is very poor at times. Do not even try to get in Thur-Sat without a reservation. We came early on a Friday night, (5:30pm) there were about 7 tables open and only a group of 3 people waiting. When I put my name down the hostess said it would be 10-15 minutes. We were seated around 8:15pm...that's almost 3 hours! We would've left, but the hostess kept saying "you're next". They would have people come in whose name was crossed out on the list, but they would show back up and the hostess would state, "oh they were here earlier, and immediately seat them". What? I have never seen a restaurant operate this way. Other people were showing up with reservations and I heard the hostess say, "you're reservation was for an hour ago...." and then she would proceed to immediately seat them. So, always make a reservation...or come in and sign your name and explore downtown for awhile....when you come back, they'll seat you. BUT if you come in and wait in the "designated waiting area", they don't care.

Hey Mambo is a nice neighbourhood pizza and Italian place. I've been coming here since they opened, and really enjoy both the food and occasional beverages here. Consistency has been my biggest complaint with mambo, however over the last few months (I think with some staff changes) the food has been consistently very good and at times excellent even when they have been busy with Brady district events slamming the kitchen. Highlights: Lunch - Nice lunch specials, good prices, slide/soup/salad combo. Pizza - Peppered bacon, specialty pizza combo's (deadhead, baroness), meatball. Service - Relaxed in a good way, always quick on refills and to address problems. Happy hour - 1/2 price appetizers - the gorgonzola tort is my favorite by far with salumi platter also very good. I'm not a huge fan of pasta dishes so I can't comment much on them, however I do enjoy and recommend both the rolled chicken breast and lamb shank from the dinner menu. I would like to see another salad or two added to the menu as they just have 1 Paleo friendly lunch option (admittedly a very good chicken Caesar salad), however there should be something for carnivores, vegetarians, etc. Menu Hack #1: Pesto cream sauce instead of marina on any of their pizza combo's is excellent. Menu Hack #2: Chicken Caesar with their toscana sausage - a more flavorful version of a chicken caesar Menu Hack #3: Chipotle Mayo instead of ranch for pizza dipping (sometimes they may or may not charge for chipotle mayo fyi).

I'm really disappointed by this restaurant, particularly after reading so many positive reviews. Basically, the food is excellent but the service is extremely poor. If I wanted to wait, I'd go to the DMV. Yet, despite an empty house, that's precisely what we did. Also, this restaurant has the misfortune of being next to a cigar shop so it reeks of burnt tobacco. Finally, it had a weird, dirty pool smell. I don't mean to pile on (and I certainly don't expect perfection), but these three factors really brought down the experience. Now for the good: the food was really good! I had the fettuccine alfredo and my girlfriend had the margarita pizza. I inhaled mine and made a small dent in hers. They were both original - definitely different from other places. There was a small brass band which was fun and not so loud that we couldn't talk. Finally, the price was fine - more than I'd prefer to pay given the circumstances, but not more than I expected. Overall, I don't recommend this place. I'm hoping we just caught them on a bad day though.

Hey Mambo! is a disappointment. We went on a Wednesday night, so there was no one there. Although we were immediately seated (in the back corner, by the kitchen and bathroom door), the rest of the service was poor. Our waitress took our order and we did not see her again for 30-45 minutes until our food arrived. I had a flat bread margarita pizza. It was a good size and enough for two. The food was good, but nothing special. The worst thing was the terrible smell of smoke. Hey Mambo is next door to a cigar bar, therefore the smoke seeps through the walls. It felt like I was sitting in a restaurant in 1997 in the smoking section. My boyfriend eventually got use to it, but I could not get over the smell. I had a headache when we left. I did like the live jazz band. It was not too loud. Also, this would be a good place to get a drink after work. They had a nice patio out front, but again there are people smoking cigars right next door. Not a great place for a quick dinner.
(2)John C.
Hey mambo kinda rocked our socks! The outdoor seating is highly recommended on a nice night, even if our experiment was diminished by three people at a table outside deciding to chain smoke while we were relaxing! Me and my fiancé came here after reading Sarah's review, and I can absolutely say that we were not let down! Hey mambo's pizza was incredible, and their drinks were delish. The location here in the Brady district is awesome too as we can walk to different bars/clubs from here after grabbing a bite to eat. We will definitely be back very soon!
(4)Jared T.
Food was good. And band was great but the customer service was the worst ever. Expect your waiter to not care and not give you the time of day. Expect to be ignored. Expect to have no desire to tip. But you tip cuz your a nice person of course. But was worst. No desire to come back except maybe for the music
(1)Jeffrey R.
Hey Mambo has one of best locations in downtown Tulsa. The excellent patio space, combined with great drinks and awesome pizza, is a no-brainer during nice weather. On a recent visit, we were taken care of by the rockstar bartender(who makes an excellent Manhattan). He was awesomely attentive, quick, and friendly. The Pizza and Calzone are truly Hey Mambo's specialties. It's advised to go for the tried and true here. My experience with the entrees, however, leaves quite a bit to be desired. It's been too hit and miss for me to recommend. As stated earlier- stick to the pizza/calzone/drinks- and you're pretty much guaranteed a good time.
(3)Jim T.
Very bad meal along with noise level extremely high. Food very bland staff offer to bring hot sauce. Home made sausage missing and I was informed it is finely ground in the sauce. Went home to make something to eat......
(1)Calvin D.
I just had there Diablo pizza and it was awesome. I love spicy foods and this was not too spicy. The jalopanos you could eat by them selves they are so good. It kept a nice sweet taste in the crust and it had a lot more zest to it then hot which worked great with the sweet crust. There chocolate cake was also delicious. It was thick, rich and held it held together while picking up the whole piece with a fork, that's how thick it was.
(5)Debbie T.
Came on for lunch but they were serving brunch. Chef cooked off regular menu for us. Great food. Live jazz on the patio
(5)Jared B.
It was an unseasonably warm evening in late-January so I decided to take my date to Hey Mambo and sit on their spacious patio to take in all this mild weather. Thankfully I called ahead to reserve a table on the patio because the restaurant was full! To my surprise they had a live jazz band playing inside which added to the absolutely adorable ambiance of the entire restaurant. We decided to start our dinner with the Dattero Scialle (goat cheese stuffed dates wrapped in prosciutto). They were incredible! The perfect amount of savory and sweet! We decided to split The Center of the Universe pizza for our main meal. The pizza had spinach, artichoke, bacon, prosciutto, tomatoes, and feta. It could not have been more perfect. Service was fantastic as well. It just made for a perfect evening downtown. Without a doubt, a 5-star experience indeed. Thank you, Hey Mambo, for a really fantastic night.
(5)Amanda S.
Hey Mambo's pizza cannot be beat in my opinion. I am a fan of floppy New York style pizzas and theirs beats the local NY joints by a nose. They have an eclectic wine list so you can choose a groovy wine to go with your slice. You can also watch a movie projected above the pizza oven while you dine. Hey Mambo, however, is not really a pizza joint. They have great pastas, too, especially the linguini carbonara. I wish I could tell you I've tried some of their other pasta dishes, but the pizza is so good I get it almost every time i go. The salami platter appetizer has a great variety of meats, cheeses, and olives - it's wonderful whether you're a low carb fan or just love antipasti. The next time you're headed downtown, do yourself a favor and give them a try!
(5)Sara E.
This was our first time to visit Hey Mambo, and we were a bit disappointed. For starters, there was a violinist on duty that night, but because she never played music there was no music playing in the place. The pizza was good but the other food we ordered tasted to be reheated frozen pasta. Unfortunate because the atmosphere is great. Not sure if I'd come back for another try or not, I might rather try somewhere new.
(3)Marleen S.
Went here a with big group for happy hour. Outdoor seating was nice, especially when the heaters were turned on. They kept up with pizza and drinks fairly well. However, I was the black sheep of the bunch. I ordered minestrone, to only have the server come back several minutes later and say they didn't have then she just walked away. Then once I was able to get her attention I tried to order the mussels. Again!!! Same exact thing. Waiting to get a food order in that I could eat....finally 3rd time the charm...or so I thought. Caprese salad.... Tomatoes were yellow and hard. The rest was good...but tomato kinda a main ingredient.
(3)D S.
I am from the Left Coast and self pro-claimed foodie. Talk about giving yourself a party in your mouth full of flavor and yummie goodness. If you live in Tulsa than do yourself a favor, check it out. It's right next to Greens on Guthrie so great area to just hang. I had the Center of the Universe pizza. The variety of beers on tap will definitely be a treat to even the pickiest of beer snobs. TWO THUMBS UP !!!

What a disappointment. I went with a groups of girl friends for dinner here last night (Saturday) around 8pm. I had read some of the reviews about the restaurant running out of food but hoped we wouldn't have that experience. A couple of the girls who came said they had a bad experience (terrible service) but were willing to try again in hopes of it being a fluke. We got there and were seated promptly. Our waitress took our drink order. She then came and took our order for apps. All was well until time to order dinner. I chose a safe route of spaghetti and meatballs. After all, what Italian restaurant runs out of meatballs. Oh boy was I ever wrong. Low and behold, they were out of meatballs. And had been for a while. WHAT?! How is that possibly. You are an Italian restaurant and you run out of meatballs on a Saturday night before 8pm. Unreal. So I ordered spaghetti, no meatballs and asked for spicy pomodoro sauce instead of regular (as it is listed on the menu being with other meals). She told me the chef is very particular and probably wouldn't like me changing his meal. Well okay then. The other ladies ordered tortellini and chicken scallopini. The waitress came back and said they were completely out of scallopini (half of our party ordered this). So we asked if we could have our checks for the drinks and leave. She kept apologizing and still brought us our appetizer at no cost, which was very nice of her. I felt bad for her that she was having to continually tell guests they were out of things, especially something as basic as a meatball at an Italian restaurant. We left and went about our night eating somewhere else that actually had food off of their menu. This morning some of us proceeded to discuss this with some other friends only to find out this has happened to them numerous times. I write all of this to say, it's extremely disappointing to have a restaurant with such great potential to have so many problems. This could easily be fixed by planning more food. But based on the numerous previous reviews of this issue along with our experience last night it doesn't look like anything is changing.
(1)Allie L.
Every time we go downtown this is where we eat. Great food and excellent service! Will definitely be back!
(5)Jenna R.
Yum. I love the Asiago Tortellini and the pizzas. I stick with these orders because they are always good. It has a cute and trendy atmosphere. Also has a great house red wine. I definitely recommend this place for Italian food and for happy hour.
(5)Tracr Z.
Went back to Hey Mambo with more coworkers, even better than last time. It was the first time for two of my coworkers, they LOVED it. Most of us had the lunch special - sandwich and soup. The soup was incredible! The sandwich (grilled chicken pesto) was even better than I remembered. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, all around great! We sat inside but with the unseasonably warm weather we should have opted for the patio since we probably won't be able to for a while. The owner, Scott, personally checked in on us several times. Love this place!
(5)Juan G.
The service has consistently gotten worse over the last few years. While their pizzas are good, they're not worth the horrendous service and long wait times. My most recent trip was the worst and included the following shenanigans: - 30 minute wait at the front with no hostess in sight, even though half of the tables were available - Waiter starts the meal by telling us that half of the menu will be unavailable (No introduction or "Hi, my name is...") - Waited 45 minutes for our food before asking the waiter how much longer it would be - Waiter lies to us by saying the food will be ready in "3 minutes" when we heard the cook tell him the food would take over 10 minutes We left before the food was ready. After watching most of the wait staff stand around and talk, roll their eyes at customers, and generally be lazy, we could take no more. Little did we know that the BEST part was yet to come. On our way out, we told a different waiter why we were leaving. His response? He said, "Please keep it to yourself." We all laughed because of what a ridiculous statement this was. Thank you Yelp for giving me the chance to not keep this experience to myself.
(1)Irena T.
I FINALLY got to try this place after hearing about how amazing it is. It was perfect weather when I went with my friend, so we sat on the patio. The inside of the establishment felt...off. Something very sterile/claustrophobic. I can't quite put my finger on it. I split a pizza with my friend. We got half "Center of the Universe" & half "The Carpenter" - both were really good. We also got a Caesar salad to split because the waitress told us it was "the best Caesar salad in Tulsa." Let me save you $8 and the disappointment. It was not. Also, apparently they have a Happy Hour with half price apps? Thanks for telling us, waitress! Oh wait....you didn't. -1 star for the price. 1 pizza, 1 Caesar salad, 1 glass of wine = $44. It was over $50 with tip - not my price point for a casual Italian restaurant.

The hubby and I went to Hey Mambo yesterday to celebrate our 6 month anniversary! We've come to learn that a lot of restaurants are closed on Monday so our choices were a bit limited. But, we were really happy with our meal at Hey Mambo and glad we chose it for our mini celebration. We were in the mood for Italian and decided the pasta menu at Hey Mambo fit the bill. We've enjoyed the pizza there before but have never been for pasta. Once we arrived and ordered a yummy bottle of Temparnillo, we fell back in the mood for pizza. While the Ravioli All'Arrabbiata looked delicious and the Asiago Tortellini sounded like the right kind of heavy, their pizza is really that awesome. We instead started with the minestrone soup and the Carpenter (sans bacon plus sage and mushroom). The soup was topped with an insane amount of cheese that looked a little too aggressive for us but tasted great. I would suggest adding some salt and pepper but other than that it was great. The pizza was delish. Really thin crust, made in a brick oven topped with their delicious onions caramelized and deglazed with whiskey, garlic, sage and mushrooms. YUM. I find the ambiance a tad sterile and the lighting not as inviting as it could be, but the space is modern and has great floor to ceiling windows. Overall, nice experience and we'll definitely be back for that ravioli!
(4)Sarah M.
Hey Mambo! You rock and make me feel like a hip Mrs. Italiano. This is one of Colin's and my favorite date night spots for these top three reasons: 1) Downtown and local charm. 2) Phenomenal and exciting takes on Italian pastas and pizzas. 3) The outdoor patio lights makes us feel like we are back in Rome. For starters, the wine and cocktail menu does not disappoint. I usually stick with ordering a merlot but upon my most recent visit I wen out on a limb and ordered the Tulsan cocktail and it made me quite happy with it's unique and not too sweet taste. I will continue sampling their cocktail menu! The food... the food! Usually one of us orders one of their pizzas (made in their brick-oven fire stove... yuh.) They are large so plan on taking some home for tomorrow's lunch. The Carpenter (pepper bacon, roasted garlic and carmlized onions) and Pesto Pollo (basil pesto, roma tomatoes, grilled chicken and pine nuts) pies are among my favorite. When I am feeling pasta-se, I order Pollo Bracciola (pounded chicken breast stuffed with sautéed crimini mushrooms, baby spinach, fresh basil, breadcrumbs, and diced prosciutto topped with mambo pesto cream sauce and served with creamy pecorino polenta and mambo ratatouille.) Need I say more? I will anyhow. The chicken is fresh and tender and the extras come in just the right amount to not overpower, but make every bite perfect. Hey, Mambo -thanks for bringing Rome to Tulsa.
(5)Jacob P.
Friendly atmosphere and even friendlier staff. Loved the thin crust pizza. Only knock would be the lack or size options for the pizza orders - but hey, if you're gonna be forced to eat more slices, this is not a bad place to get fatter. Would definitely return, and would order the pizza again but branch out with different toppings.
(5)Matt D.
Not that great. Lemon dish was over kill, same with the pineapple dish. Took over 40 minutes to get our food. Staff seems overly busy so the service suffered. Maybe they need to hire another. Wouldn't recommend.
(2)Derek C.
This place is amazing! The food was so delicious I want to come back and try everything on the menu. The service was great. There was music playing the whole time, it was a little loud so we had shout when speaking..
(4)Pixie M.
We had a calzone. Service was friendly and fun to talk to. They answered any questions we had. The atmosphere was nice and quiet with art hanging on the walls. A band that had just played was packing up. Very nice place for my second time there!
(5)Lawrence H.
Awesome food. Second time eating here, and found out you can get half and half pizza. Got half island and half carpenter this time. Both pizzas are amazing, but I think the bacon on the carpenter made it my favorite.
(5)Laurel T.
Love this place! On Wednesdays and Fridays they have a fantastic jazz band. They have a great patio and have $5 wine 4-6pm daily. The Caesar salad is delicious and unique with fried capers. I've tried several varieties of pizza and all were good, and the standard cheese calzone is the best I've ever had! Whenever I have company in town, I try to take them for an all around surprisingly fun and tasty experience!
(5)Mike Y.
Friends, listen carefully to what I'm about to tell you... It might literally change your life. I've been all over the country trying to find pizza that remotely rivals that of Hey Mambo. I'm still searching. Order a half and half Diablo/Baroness. It will open your eyes to a whole new world. If you are visiting Hey Mambo for the first time, or have friends going for the first time, do the right thing and make them order pizza. People that try the pasta, especially their first time at Hey Mambo, are missing the boat. Remember, friends don't let friends order pasta at Hey Mambo. When the weather is nice, sit outside, order a bottle of wine, and enjoy the best pizza I've ever had the privilege of experiencing.
(5)Anna F.
So glad Sarah M. was able to recommend this great place to me! I had been looking for a nice place to go before a show at Cain's Ballroom and Hey Mambo was just around the corner. They had a lovely patio and our service was top notch. I enjoyed their COOP beer selection as well. We had the salumi(yes, it was spelled that way) and cheese platter which had a nice selection of meats and cheeses with kalamata olives and candied walnuts. My boyfriend and I then split a calzone which we customized with grilled chicken, artichoke hearts and pesto. The crust was a tad burned but it was an all around good meal.
(4)Sherman C.
Great service, great beer menu, delicious food with fresh ingredients, our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. We'll definitely be back.
(5)Rachel S.
Hey Mambo is delicious! When I go the service is usually slower but it's worth the wait. I'm obsessed with the torta al Gorgonzola, which is so yummy with the grapes and bread. They carry my favorite riesling, which is from Snoqualmie, WA. I love the asiago tortellini for the entree!
(4)yuridia t.
I love pizza and so far this has been one of the best I've had in Tulsa. Really good spot to chill and hang out. Really good staff and fast service. They have a fine selection of wines. They also have a tv that keeps you entertained while you wait for your food .
(5)Amy G.
Do it. Go here. Now. My slightly drunk friends and I hit this place up on a Saturday night and I'm so damn happy we did. We were hungry and wanted to have some cocktails and Hey Mambo hooked it up. First, we sat at the bar but before we could even get comfortable Kenny hooked it up and got us to a table. I actually don't know if his name was Kenny, but for some reason I decided it was and I've been calling him that every since. When we got to our table the service was quick and we ordered a whole array of drinks. I had some magical dirty something or the other with yummy stuffed olives and I could have drank a bucket of them. We ordered calzones and pasta and they were all tasty. We agreed that the calzone was a little heavy on the cheese, but otherwise, it made me happy as a clam. The violin player was fun and the staff was all awesome. I would for sure go back here.
(5)Patty D.
My hubby and I got the Insalata Mista (wedge salad) to share for starters. It was very good, but nothing spectacular. I ordered the Pasta el Sol for my entree...way too much pineapple flavor. If was a lighter touch, then it would have been much better. My husband got the Chicken Scallopini. He mentioned (complained) to me that his food was so lemony. I said mine was too pineappley. However, after waiting 20 minutes for our wine and water, and waiting 40 minutes for our food, we were too hungry to complain too much at the beginning of our meal. My hubby said he just couldn't eat anymore because of the flavor. So I took a bite. Absolutely gross. I could not believe he actually ate as much as he did. To say it was too lemony was an understatement. It was just a poorly put together dish; obviously rushed. I complained to the waitress who said that their dishes were for more stronger palettes. Uh...right. I have traveled far and wide eating many a dish, and I do consider myself to be a seasoned foodie. That comment was just a sad excuse and rude. Live and learn. Won't be going back.

Nice drink selection. Pizza looked great even though we didn't eat here. May have to come back and try it out!

Great pizza and cool atmosphere. Would recommend to friends.

Mambo is a fun modern Italian place with brick oven style pizza. I had the lunch special with an iceberg salad with a pleasant spicy Italian dressing and two pieces of tasty pizza. I enjoyed the environment, service, and the food. Although I wasn't floored by the cuisine, it was defiantly a place I will add to my go to list. I look forward to returning and trying more of their dishes.

lovely place. Nice decor, great atmosphere. Their pizza is delicious and a lot of their other items are a bit more upscale than chain restaurants like Olive Garden. i've enjoyed everything i've eaten there. Staff is friendly and they do have great lunch specials as well as the rare outdoor seating area, complete with fans and heating lamps. Hey Mambo is definitely worth a visit.

Route 66 Marathon pre-carbo load meal. Expected a better selection (since the property is right at the Finish Line of the event - with most out of town participants in hotels nearby) - but, it just wasn't that great (esp for the money spent). My kids had Pizza and I tried a slice and it was awesome. But, the pasta was just very under whelming. Staff was marginal.

Good patio, good martinis and a delicious calzone. It receives only two stars because the owner has stated his dislike of me to others which is pretty shocking considering the hype and recommendations I have given Hey Mambo. Too bad, I really liked this place.

I had an early light dinner here at the suggestion of a friend.. I am always challenged ordering food when I travel because outside of NYC, the portions are enormous and the prices are tiny (which deceives my jaded little mind). The waitress was so sweet and she made the appetizer flatbread using "Center of the Universe" pizza toppings and only charged me 9 bucks! She also brought the Mixed salad in a side salad size so that I wouldn't be intimidated. I tend to be sensitive to too many veggies on one plate. I do think there was too much dressing on the salad. This may be a regional thing as the next salad I ordered had the same problem. The food was good.. not exactly where I would go for authentic Italian Cuisine.. but come on folks, it's Tulsa. I consider myself lucky it wasn't deep fried or covered in BBQ sauce. Great for a light dinner.. Excellent service, Flexible Menu (necessary for of all of us "Sally's" in the world), and pleasant, casual atmosphere. They are also family friendly (I myself and not so family friendly, so this isn't always a motivating factor for picking restaurants).

I had dinner here for the first time last Saturday night with my husband and another couple. We saw the restaurant on the list of restaurants for restaurant week and thought it would be a good time to try it out. I loved the decor and the ambiance and especially enjoyed the violinist who took requests and could play almost anything. My husband and I shared the Torta al Gorgonzola for an appetizer and I was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious and very different than anything I'd had before. We also shared the Spicy Meatball pizza and both loved it! We could only eat half, but it made a great left over dinner the next day. We had Torta di Cioccolato for dessert and we were disappointed. It tasted like it was cooked in the microwave and the size compared to what our friends ordered off the same restaurant week menu was very disappointing. I would definitely go back for the pizza and hopefully try some pasta. I just know now not to order that dessert again.

If you're going to have a restaurant in the middle of a bustling downtown area...maybe you should anticipate adding extra staff on the weekends. Just a thought. Here's my experience in full: We were seated immediately yet our waiter didn't show up for 5 minutes and when he did, he didn't ask for our drink order. After another 10 minutes we had to flag him down and ask about an appetizer that wasn't on the menu. After another 5 minutes we ordered...and 5 more minutes after that we had to flag him down, yet again, to ask if we could have more than water to drink. When he came back with our drinks he had to ask us what we ordered again because he forgot one....We're now 45 minutes in and still appetizer-less. I made a shawl out of napkins because the air was on so high my hair was blowing. During this time, my boyfriend Facebook'd the restaurant (because the timing was getting out of control) and received an immediate response; which means, they had time to check their Facebook but not time to refill my drink. Our food finally arrived and promptly got cold...because, ya know, we were sitting under an arctic tundra. The appetizer was delicious (jalapeño bacon artichoke dip) and our food was good. Just good. I don't spend over 2 hours in a restaurant for good. It better be OUT OF THIS WORLD AMAZING to take up that much of my time. I won't be back.

We went on Friday before show at PAC. One of the worst restaurants I've been too. Made reservations a week in advance and when we showed up, was treated very disrespectful. They seemed to have lost the reservation and acted as if they didn't want to accommodate us. After a 30 to 45 min wait past our reservation, we were finally seated. The waitress was not very friendly and acted as if she was put out that we were there. My wife ordered Chicken Marsala and I ordered Pasta el Sol. The food came pretty fast but was not good. They used spaghetti sauce on the Chicken Marsala instead of Marsala sauce. There was not any kind of sauce on the Pasta el Sol. According to the menu we were handed, there was suppose to be a spicy white wine sauce. Also, it was served with spaghetti instead of linguini. The online menu and the one they hand you are different. I pointed out the lack of sauce to the waitress and she seemed to agree that there was no sauce. She took my plate to have it fixed. After a 15 minute wait she brings me a 'new' Pasta el Sol. Everyone else at the table were done eating. When I checked the bowl, the kitchen had taken water from the pasta cooker and dumped it in the bowl. This was suppose to be the sauce. I tried just eating the shrimp and they were so over cooked they were rubbery and had zero flavor. Long story short, Hey Mambo will be removed from our list of restaurants that we dine at. Will not every recommend this place to anyone. Will definitely recommend NOT to go there. Worst restaurant experience we have every had.

Love Hey Mambo..fantastic brick oven pizza, good bar and very nice patio. Beautiful view of downtown Tulsa at night. Staff is great, always takes great care of us (and our dog) on the patio.

I've passed by here many times and just didn't realize it was on the list of places I had bookmarked to visit. Well not on a night out but a day, I realized that Hey Mambo was that cute place I wanted to check out. The atmosphere is nice, clean and friendly. You can tell there wasn't a lot of money thrown into looking pretty but more put in the ingredients. We ordered two pizzas. One we created our own and the other was the meatball.First let me say there isn't many places in town where I can get prosciutto on a pizza so I was truly excited for that. The cheese on the pizzas was good. Crust was nice, crunch on the outside, chewy on the inside. Is it my favorite pizza in town? No, that's Umberto's. :) Would I go back for more well yeah... Next time we will have to try the pasta. Everyone around us had these huge meatballs on their plates.

Pretty darn good. We had good service, the food was better than I expected for Tulsa Italian. My personal preference is to not be entertained while eating (live jazz band) but I will be going back and hope you'll give it a try.

Crowded. Burnt Pizza.
(2)J T.
Quite good pizza, though I wish they would make their Margherita Pizza with crushed tomatos rather than just cheese and slices of tomato on top. The pasta was ok as well, but not as good as the pizza. Very good beer selection, with several local favorites from Marshall and Coop on tap.

A friend from Chicago was visiting and we wanted to try a new place where we could eat our way through the menu and Hey Mambo was perfect! The service was extraordinarily attentive and kind. We started with the prosciutto wrapped dates which were sweet and delicious. We then tried the gnocchi which would have been even better if the gnocchis were fresh made, but the mushrooms and sauce were excellent (and maybe I am demanding a bit much). We then had the most amazing pizza, the Baroness.....sweet, salt, and spice, perfect! Honestly, I love this place the atmosphere was wonderful, the people were knowledgeable and helpful, and the food was melt in your mouth delicious. Go, eat, now! I am actually back again eating and writing.

Awesome pizza and very cool ambience. the thin crust pizza is delicately made with good ingredients. Cheesecake was sumptuous. The waiting staff is excellent and live violin music makes the experience both classy and casual.

Best New Pizza in Tulsa!!! My husband and I came here on a Thursday night and fell in love with it! Our new favorite go to in Tulsa! We had the "Center of the Universe" gourmet pizza and it just melts in your mouth. We also had a special dessert (I can't remember the name) that was basically a chocolate brownie with pieces of pumpkin cheesecake throughout, served with a pumpkin spice gelato. WOW! The restaurant is quite small but I think that makes it perfect! It's just large enough that they can look busy every night and still leave people wanting to come in. They have a full bar and many other italian dishes besides just gourmet pizzas. Some of their appetizers looked and sounded just amazing. Our service was excellent. Diana *Dee* was our server and she was attentive but not overly attentive. Highly recommend!!

Great Atmosphere, but the food was blah. The wine was overpriced but excellent. We enjoyed a bottle of pinot noir and the ladies had the moscato. Our pasta dishes were just awful. I guess we should have ordered a pizza. The berry cobbler the waiter was raving about for desert was just boring. Overall we were disappointed. We probably won't be going back any time soon.

This is an excellent place for pizza, calzone and atmosphere. Wine and beer selection is great. I've ordered calzone both times and loved it. For appetizer, you must try the Gorgonzola Torta. This is a dense concoction with cheese, bacon and spices - awesome! Bruschetta was very good, too. A friend got spaghetti and meatball once which was ok but the sauce was a little bland. I'm sorry to see the bad reviews so far for pasta because I hope this place does well. Service does need to be improved. We sit at the bar most of the time and get excellent attention from the bartender. But we did try a table once when the bar was full and sat for about 10 minutes with no one even making eye contact or taking a drink order. Thankfully a space at the bar cleared and we were able to move. I love the fact that they play old movies on the wall above the woodfire oven. I do hope they get service and pasta issues fixed because it's a fun little place and I love the downtown location. Check Facebook or online for menu at heymambo.com .

Hey Mambo is quickly becoming my husbands and my favorite place! Everything is great - food, service, atmosphere- and bonus if you go on Wed. or Fri. Night's- live music is icing of the cake! Keep up the great work!

Chef Kurt makes the place! Every dish I have had so far is great. They have an excellent wine selection and coffee bar. Great place to set outside and chat with friends.

Yum-o! Island pie & the spin were delicious. Atmosphere was great & the wine was good.

Great meal. Caesar is awesome. House red is a great value. Lots of pizza at a great price. Nice patio.

I've eaten here twice now, the first time we had center of the universe and it was awesome...I would highly recommend the pizza. Second time I got the carbonara, it was easily one of the most disgusting things I've ever eaten..Another person in our group also got it and they wouldn't even eat it. I cant really pinpoint the problem...lack of taste, extremely salty, peas were strnge texture... I've been told there are 2 chefs here..one for pizza and one for the other stuff...Pizza guy needs to take over..

Found this place by mistake!!! A wonderful mistake that was!! Amazing service. Food was above and beyond and the atmosphere was perfect! Love this place!!
(5)Steve M.
I am from out of town and my family took me to Hey Mambo to try out a local place. The Atmosphere was cool, pizza was okay, the food dishes we had were not very good. Not sure if i would go back next time I am in town.
(3)Jess R.
I may have had the best pizza of my life here. I had the "Thatsa Spicy Meatball" with homemade spicy meatballs sliced all over it, carmaelized red onions, spicy red pepper flakes and mozzarella cheese. I simply could not believe how good it was. It's a little expensive though - $18 for a 16" pizza. This is a pizza place for special occassions. My dinner date had a pasta dish with chicken, it was just eh. My date loved the blueberry gelato we had for dessert, but I am not that much a fan of blueberries and it seemed a little freezerburned to me. But the PIZZA! MY GAWD, the pizza.
(4)Robert B.
Awful service here. I hope it gets better because the pizza was pretty good and I love seeing new places downtown.
(2)Chris W.
Best pizza I have ever eaten, bar none! The bartenders and staff in this place are awesome! We had a large group and they handled it well, made us feel very welcome. Go here if you visit Tulsa!!!
(5)Kristi M.
I am so glad we tried Hey Mambo, despite the reviews citing poor service. I have eaten at the restaurant twice now and received excellent service both times. Moreover, the food is AMAZING (which would help me overlook an occasional bout of poor service if my luck should ever run out). I've eaten brick oven pizza in dozens of cities and I have to say... Hey Mambo is as good as I've ever had. I think the prices are absolutely fair and on-target for the quality and atmosphere served by Hey Mambo.

I went this past weekend with three other people. Here's what we had and what we thought about it: Wedge salad: we all had the wedge and thought it was pretty good; the house dressing is a little bland, but I think we all liked it because it wasn't too heavy. It's their version of a ranch and blue cheese mix. Red Wine Calamari Fettucini- Aweful! Everyone sampled this and hated it. Besides the weird taste and zero amount of salt, it was drenched in sauce. Lamb Shank- tough and doesn't pair well with ratatouille- too much of the same sauce. Mussels- broth was flavorless

Love the patio here. It's always so full when it's warm out. They even have heaters when it's not so warm. I had the Center of the Universe pizza. Tasted great, some of the better pizza in town. Plus they apparently serve pizza until 2am on weekends. They have a solid beer and wine selection, too. The service, while not bad, definitely could've been better. The waitress just plopping down our pizza without dishing up a slice was a turnoff. But the food and atmosphere more than made up for the indifferent service.
(4)Red B.
Highly reccomend the center of the universe pizza. Didn't try anything else, but I'll vouch for that. Andolini's probably has a better pie, but it has a unique, modern, atmosphere for Tulsa.
(4)Katherine B.
I liked this place a lot when it first opened up. I've had the Baroness pizza and the stromboli, and they were both delicious. But I went back recently and was pretty disappointed. We wanted the dates, but they were out. The waiter suggested this cheese torte thing that we ordered instead, and it was not at all appealing to me, though my sister didn't mind it. Our pizza was slightly burnt. And then they were out of the dessert we tried to order as well. That's a failure per course, so I won't be going back.

Great and a really good atmosphere. Kinda like a modern pizzeria.
