I wish I could give zero stars. When I asked to add chicken to my dish instead of bacon they made a huge deal about it and said they would do it this time but not to ask to do it again..and then brought me a piece of plain, dry, boiled chicken on the side. The pasta itself was not good either. My husband comes here often for the swordfish and loves it but based on my experience I will definitely not be coming back.

I had dinner at Dalesandro's last night for the first time in several years and it was just as delicious as I remembered. As a table, we sampled the Olive Tampenada appetizer (special), table side Caesar salad, Linguine with Meatballs, Pesto, Stuffed Shells, and Carbonara. The meatballs are huge and absolutely delicious. They were the table favorite. I also loved the stuffed shells, but if you want to order them go early -- sometimes they run out! I'm not a huge carbonara fan but I liked theirs and thought the pesto was good as well although two of my dining companions thought the carbonara and pesto needed more salt. The table-side Caesar was wonderful and I enjoyed the appetizer as well (we ordered the small and there was plenty for 4 of us). The service was very good as well. Definitely plan to take home leftovers or split something because all of their portions are huge. Always a great classic Tulsa meal. I need to remember to eat here more often because it really is wonderful!

Great for Tulsa where it's hard to find a decent Italian restaurant. The casual elegant setting is great for dates or small dinner parties; also has full bar with seating around. The pasta carbonara is one of the best items on the menu - highly recommend. The lasagna is a very large portion and is also good. The pesto pasta is a tasty dish as well but may be too garlicky for some. And the Caesar salad is one of the best in town. ...In other words, it's hard to make a bad decision when choosing this place. Entrees run $16-ish plus but are very large and good to share especially if getting an appetizer (asparagus is great) or salad. If planning to go on a weekend night it would be suggested to make a reservation beforehand.

Food was good, the interior was sparse. Had a cool center bar. We had friendly service, a few different appetizers, and good meals. Prices are fine for a more upscale establishment. The menu isn't very vast, but what they do, they do well. I would go back.

Best I-talian in town...probably the "Midwest" or the "plains"!! This is the 1st place I eat when I get to town. I've even taken food to go 5 mins after the opened and ate while driving before a wedding just to eat at my fav place! The food is soooo inexpensive and the portions are huge. When I lived here decades ago I was a loyal customer and was sad when they closed their original location for a few years and was elated when Buzz reopened! And ohh soo happy when on my last dinner during Christmas saw they have added stuffed shells on the menu instead of the daily special...never remembered what day that was anyway. Super cute venue and small so you might wait but it's well worth it promise. A MUST eat is the lentil soup!! It IS THE BEST lentil soup I have ever had in my life and throughout my world travels...the whole garlic cloves, the fresh basil, fresh squeezed lime, and the 1 meatball makes this a bowl of pure heavenly perfection! So start off with lentil soup then have the stuffed shells if they haven't run out! The fresh marinara is to die for...I could bath in it...only a real Italian would appreciate a woman bathed in fresh tomatoes and garlic. If it's the Friday or Saturday try the swordfish...it's just as amazing! Really most everything is incredibly delicious. And end withe the chocolate gâteaux...flourless chocolate cake to die for. Never have I ever wanted to be related to t-towner as much as I do a Dalesandro until now...maybe bathing in their sauce will bring one to south Florida one day!

The Pesto bowtie dish is to die for!!! Highly highly recommend! went to dinner with a gf to catch up and the staff was awesome! even made some friends while dining there!!! LOved loved the atmosphere and everything about it- great place to dine for dinner either with the girls or a nice date night! 5 stars!

If you're looking for a truly excellent Caeser salad, head to Dalesandro's! The rest of the menu isn't bad, either. The lentil soup is the perfect antidote to a cold winter day - it's a huge portion with a homemade italian sausage meatball on top. You'll be eating it for days. The carpaccio is excellent - and also a huge portion. Come to this restaurant when you're in the mood to share! On the pasta side, the Carbonara is delicious, as is the Oliva Olio. I am not a swordfish fan, but I'm told if you are, this dish is the best around. Great service, excellent food. If you're dining there on a weekend, I highly recommend a reservation - however, they are happy to take good care of you at the bar if you don't!

Oh my. I've confessed in previous reviews, that I'm not a pasta fan, and generally don't go to Italian restaurants. But Dalesandro's? Any day, any time. In fact, I had a reservation there the night I went into labor with my daughter that I was sorry to have to cancel. My fave? The carpaccio. It rivals...no it beats..... any I've had anywhere in the world. Really. My standard meal is the delicious caesar salad with sauteed red peppers and a carpaccio appetizer. I don't share. Oh, and the bread pudding. Love. Love. Love. If only there were six stars....

a great experience, my second. the menu is limited to soups, caesar sales, and pastas. well, they did have chicken cacciatore and swordfish, but the menu is focused on pasta. We had pasta carbonara, linguine with meatballs and stuffed shells. started with the caesar salads. the carbonara was wonderfully creamy and blended well with the saltiness of the bacon. the shells were - as advertised, a nice blend of cheese and mild italian sausage. the linguine sauce was very fresh and tasted home-cooked. Generous portions. friendly staff. the salad has a nice bite to it lots of romaine, and the dressing was terrific. the pastas were fresh, as well as the sauces. Atmosphere was loud and busy. the tables surround a very large bar, and there is zero sound deadening. not your place for a quit romantic dinner. The wine list at the table was very inexpensive, but I wanted something better, and they had a very nice Brunello de Motelcino that was off the list. overall, a great experience. Friendly, accommodating staff, high quality, excellent food. a little loud for my taste, but that was overcome by the terrific staff (Leslie) and food. I gave it four stars, not five, because it's LOUD and the weak wine list. But if you want a friendly neighborhood kind of vibe, this is your spot. I'll be back.

I love this place! Any trip to T-Town is not complete without a meal here. The Caesar Salad with crusty, rustic crouton crumbles and big leaves is flawless. The real gem, though, is the Chicken Cacciatore - the chicken falls off the bone in tender chunks and the red sauce is bright and lively -- a result of Cento Polpabellas added at the end with the wide rolls of authentic tagliatelle. Since I can't bring it to Dallas, we often have Dalesandro's night at home: all it takes are the right ingredients from Jimmy's, Newflower and the Theater Grocery and a little time. Still, I'd be plenty happy to have the real thing just around the corner!

A nice find in downtown Tulsa on my one night visit! Dalesandros's came at the recommendation of a Tulsa local. It was a 0.6 miles from our hotel (Ambassador, which is also excellent)... a short and safe walk. I called Dalesandro's several times to make/cancel/re-make our reservation and the staff was always professional and accomadating. We can here on as Sat night at 6:30 and the place was full. we were fortunate that Dalesandro's were able to work us in (at the bar but that was fine with us). Its a small restaurant with a large bar in the center. the atmosphere was casual but the customers were all adults mixed with suits and weekend diners (dates/groups). On with the food. The Caesar salad was fresh and seasoned very well. Its quiet large and probably enough to share for a party of 4. Pasta w/ meatballs (also large portions... sufficient for 2) was good. The meatballs had great texture and consistency. I don't know what was in the seasoning for the sword fish but it was very memorable... Service was friendly, attentive, and professional. Checked on us often and brought things immediately when requested. Only downside is that i thought the pricing was slighly high. But, I would still highly recommend Dalesandro's~!

The food seemed to be simple and high quality. We had the pesto pasta, Veggy Lasagna, and the Caprese salad (reduced balsamic vinegar made it extra sweet) and all were delicious. It had a great atmosphere as the restaurant is in a neat little nook of town with a few bars nearby. The service was high quality. The prices for the food were not bad, but they made up for it with high alcohol cost. I would definitely go back.

Went here a few weeks ago. Went on a Thurs. Night. Made a reservation for four, but didn't need to. Restaurant was quiet with a nice ambience. Service was pleasant. I odered the pasta shells, husband had the lasagne. Can't remember what our friends had, but we all ordered something different. We all had the same opinion. The food was way too spicy - the sinus-clearing, nose-running, eye-watering kind of spicy. It was not my kind of thing. I always think food that is too spicy is masking poor flavor. I think they use a lot of HOT Italian sausage. And apparently in almost every dish! Because of that, I was disappointed with our experience and will not initiate a return visit. It was also very expensive - over $25/pp. That's expensive for mediocre Italian in Tulsa.

I make a mean Caesers salad and have for many years. Picked up the recipe from a French chef. Now to the point! Dalesandro's Caesers far exceeded mine and that is hard for a man to admit. The rest of the meal was off the chart and I do plan on going back.

My wife and I went to Dalesandro's for Valentines day. We had reservations and were seated right away. The service was very good. I think we both had the Oliva Olio. From the online menu- "Linguine in olive oil and Our chicken stock, with fresh sweet basil, parsley, onions and garlic topped with Romano cheese and "THE" mushrooms. " The food was very good. The price I seem to recall was somewhere in the $16-$18 range. Trending towards the high side for pasta. I felt like the couple eating at the bar kind of took away from the classiness that I thought Dalesandro's had. Especially for Valentines day. I guess my vision of the atmosphere that Dalesandro's was going for is different than Dalesandro's vision. Will I go back? This was my second or third time at Dalesandro's. So I guess so.

I take back my three-star review and add one more. This place is great! Super romantic for a date, and de-lishes food. The portions are just the right size! Besides, is there such a thing as too big!? No. I must have been really grumpy when previously reviewing.

I love Dalesandro's pesto pasta with the table side caesar salad. It's a short walk from our home and a great Friday night spot. Friendly, attentive wait staff.

I heard this was "the place to go for swordfish"! They only serve it on Friday and Saturday so we went for my birthday! This was last April. The service was soo poor that we walked out. It took 25 min to get our drinks and not because the bartender but because our waitress only asked us 10 minutes before. We will have to try it again sometime, hopefully my review will be better. Oh, also our booth was terrible!!!!! The lady behind me was talking and every time she leaned back in her booth it pushed into my back! This occurred every 30 seconds...might just sit at the bar next time. If I do go back...

1 star should not be given and I do not do it lightly. The food is good but the attitude is one that thinks the customer is doing them a favor by doing business with them. I simply wanted to make a take out order on a Friday evening. I was informed they would NOT take the order over the phone, I had to come to the restaurant and go to the bar- then I could place my order. I asked a second time to be clear and they were adamant. We ate elsewhere and will continue to do so. The only reason I can think for such a policy is to try to drive drink sales or they are afraid of orders not being picked up. The first reason is understandable but overbearing on the customer. The second could easily be addressed by taking a credit card if it presents such a great risk; a risk I doubt because I have not had such treatment from numerous other restaurants in town. What happened to attempting to please the customer rather than imposing rules for your own benefit or desire????

I love this restaurant. We recently relocated from NYC and this restaurant could compete with any Italian restaurant there. I like that it's noisy, it reminds me of restaurants in midtown. Highly Recommend the swordfish. Only $28!!! Yum.

Such a nice place! Although seating was full it didn't feel packed and the servers were top shelf. Very professional staff and family owned too! The swordfish was amazing but I really liked the meatballs and marinara. I really can't say enough about this place. Will go back but next time I want only the caesar salad and a table full of antipasto and meatballs!

  • Crystal C.

Pros: Cute place. Great ceasar salad (the dressing is available for purchase). The pasta was buttery and rich. Cons: Sparse amount of parking spaces; but street parking available. We ordered the swordfish. It was prepared in such a way that it had the same texture and flavor as chicken.

Dalesandro's never ceases to please! The carpaccio is amazing and the Cesar salad is delicious...very fresh with the right amount of lemon in the dressing, maybe a little overpowering for some, but it gives the salad a great bite! The swordfish special on Saturdays is a must try, it is fantastic!! Great atmosphere too, with family pictures in the walls. It's one of our favorites!

Great place for italian food. The portions are huge. You will not leave this restaurant without taking a to go box. Prices were ok but are justified for the amount of food you get. Service was very friendly and efficient. Definitely stop in.

Was looking for some good italian food in Tulsa, and decided that the wife and I had not tried the Midtown options in a while, so we traveled.... Ended up making reservations here, which was pretty easy.... First upon arriving we were sat literally IN THE KITCHEN. There is 1 table that sits almost in the kitchen at this restaurant. If I would have had it my way, I would not have sat here, but there was a waiting list, and it was Saturday, so- What the hey... Ordered an appetizer- the Carpaccio which left WAY too strong of a lemon flavor... To the tune that we did not even finish it... Was way too citrusy..... Salad, some sort of interesting twist on a Ceasar... Not bad, but man, over the top on the dressing.... Too strong of a flavor again... Then dinner came..... I was expecting FLAVOR explosion, and I was less than impressed with the flavor that my Lasagne had, and my wife had the Fettuccini and it as well was on the bland side.... I give these guys 2 star for several reasons.... That back table needs to be put there for either 1 of 2 types of diners.... 1) People you dont like -or- 2) people you dont want enjoying your restaurant. The pots and pans clanging and the talk from all of the servers hanging around at our table probably set me off the worst. Then the blasting over-lemoning of the Carpaccio changed my mind totally..... Hope for the best for this restaurant as it is a Tulsa long time place, but I was just not as impressed as I had been years ago...

I had a delightful dinner on my brief pass through Tulsa last weekend. The Caesar salad was crunchy and fresh and flavorful with an unusual basaltic meets Caesar type dressing. I shared it with my fellow diner but could have made 3 generous side salads out of it. Pasta with pesto was creamy and on the acidic side (pleasing for me) and we ordered ours with chicken added which was well executed. The dining room is sleek and a bit austere looking but photos and artwork help provide some warmth. Noise level was pretty high in a typical Italian restaurant way. Our server was fast and responsive if not very engaging. We shared both salad and entree without fuss. I appreciated that bread and soft drink refills were offered as in a casual diner even though this is not a diner type place. Overall, I felt like I was eating someplace that suceeds at being modern and relevant without being obviously trendy or being different just for the sake of being different.

I give this place three stars for the atmosphere. Very nice and swanky place downtown. The porch area is nice. I took my mother here tonight after reading the reviews on Yelp. It was very noisy inside, so we sat out. Service was slow- I think she kept forgetting about us and the table next to us received their first entree, which they sent back, AND got a second before we ever got our food. Mom ordered the chicken and broccoli "soup". She said the chicken was way over cooked, tough, and no flavor. I had the roasted chicken and spaghetti- not too bad. The red sauce is a little spicy, but was good. Great atmosphere, nice wine list, food is iffy, and the wait staff was slow.

So after weeks of my girlfriend begging me to go to Dalesandro's with her, I decided I better just give in. I had always seen it while in the 18th in Boston area and always viewed through the windows and wondered wether it was good or not. We made a reservation just incase. Once we arrived, we were escorted to our table right away. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. One waiter stopped by our table after seeing me mess around with my camera and offered to take a picture of the two of us. We started off with a Caesar Salad. My girlfriend ordered the Pasta Carbonara and I went with the Swordfish Piccata after my waiter's suggestion. The Caesar Salad was great, most of the ingredients, including the pepper were ground up and mixed through the salad, making each bite covered with all the ingredients. But does caesar salad ever blow anyones mind? Me either, I think the caesar salad everywhere is only average. I have yet to have a caesar salad that I didn't forget about the next day. Pasta Carbonara was terrific. Thick rich sauce with extremely soft noodles, but not too soft. They use 3 different types of bacon in their carbonara. It had a rich smoke flavor the made the dish that much more desirable. This was also a huge portion. But isn't all Italian food supposed to be in huge portions? Isn't that part of the culture? So at this point I could say that Dalesandro's was about 3 stars. Everything was good, but I hadn't had anything that changed my life. Until the I took a bite of the Swordfish Piccata. A Piccata is usually used on chicken, its lightly breaded and fried and cooked in a butter and white wine sauce and served on angel hair pasta. The plate was also garnished with thinly sliced mushrooms and lemon. The first couple of bites were good, but the further I got into the dish the better it became. I began to take giant bites trying to absorb as much flavor as possible. The fish was tender and flakey. The herb's used in the breading were extremely tasty. The pasta was soft and with the buttery wine sauce at the bottom of the dish and the lemon on top, this was a Flavor Explosion. I had a feeling Dalesandro's would be good, but this dish was probably one of the best things I have eaten in a while. Extremely good. If you go here, you must try this. It is only served on Fridays and Saturdays, so its always fresh. Although this dish had a buttery sauce, it isn't too heavy either which made me feel good after leaving. Damn good! Dalesandro's has a laid back atomosphere. They don't have many tables, maybe about seating for 50, and small menu of about 7 items.

Went here for dinner with a small group. The atmosphere is nice, and the waitress very nice, helpful and attentive. The food, however, for the price, in my opinion is average. Don't get me wrong, it's still good tasting, but too expensive at this price level. I would come here again, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice.

Extremely limited menu. Only about 6 entree's. Not always a bad thing. Nice Italian salad. Pasta slightly overcooked and was not up to the quality of Italian restaurants in larger cities. Still not a bad meal. I've just had better elsewhere.

Dalesandro's is the best "authentic" Italian food in town. Located in the SoBo district, this family owned and operated restaurant is a winner. I went to Lee Elementary with Sunny Dalesandro and went to high school with half of the wait staff so I feel at home there for sure. They have recently implicated a 6 pm or 8 pm seating which I'm sure works great for the wait staff and chefs, but it can be a bit crowded because usually each seating is full. It is a great date place and also really good for large groups. When the weather is nice, the patio is fabulous. Also, it's in walking distance to Oscars and Vintage 1740 which are both great places for a nightcap. If you have room in your stomach. The menu consists of 4 apps, 3 soups, the infamous Caesar salad and 7 entrees, with the swordfish picatta being featured as the 8th entree on Friday and Saturday nights. They have a pretty good wine list and also beer selections and a full bar. I do have to give them props for their service. It is impeccable. The servers stay very busy, usually handling large sections, but they don't miss a beat. And the hostess can be seen helping out with back service, such as refilling water and bread. Anyway, back to the grub. I always start with the Caprese. It is so light and delicious. Then, the table Caesar is a must. Emphasis on the "table" part. Basically, don't be the only one eating it or you will be alone by the end of the night. The garlic and anchovy flavor is intense, but delightful. Moral of the story is, if you are planning on making out with someone at the end of the night and you have eaten the Caesar, make sure they have too. As for my entrée selection, if it's a weekend you can bet I will be enjoying the swordfish. It is absolutely wonderful. And light enough where you can eat the whole thing and still be able to drink until 2 a.m. Other good choices are the Linguine with Meatballs or the Pollo Arrosto. The linguini has a great spice to it. Like just enough for a little kick. It is surely enough for 2 meals. The Pollo Arrosto is enough for 2 meals as well featuring half of a chicken that couldn't be any moister. I am not a fan of the Brodo. Not because it isn't good, it's just not my taste. I have never had dessert there because I simply cannot eat another bite when I leave. Another thing that is great about Dalesandro's is that when you go eat there with a group of 10 on New Year's Eve and one couple gets too drunk and stays the night with you and then leaves ALL their leftovers in YOUR refrigerator, you can survive off of it for days! So good reheated!

Dalesandro's is not only my favorite Italian restaurant in Tulsa but also my favorite restaurant in Tulsa, period. I have truly never had anything but an outstanding meal at Dalesandro's, and we have visited more times than I can count. From the pesto to the spicy shells to the famous swordfish, it is all delicious. My wife loves the olivo olio dish. The service is always prompt, professional, and friendly. Keep up the good work Dalesandro's, we'll be back soon.

Decided to try something new tonight and ended up picking Dalesandro's. The restaurant was in a part of Downtown that I am not very familiar with, luckily it was very easy to locate. We were able to walk right in and get a seat without any wait. The restaurant was still very busy for being later in the evening. Our waitress was a little slow getting around to us for our drink order, but we had ice water and fresh Ciabatta bread to hold us over while we waited. I had the Stuffed Pasta Shells and my girlfriend had the Carbonara. The food was excellent. Mine came with five large pasta shells stuffed with cheese and Italian sausage on a plate of marinara sauce. The Carbonara my girlfriend got was a huge portion with lots of thick cut bacon. My entree was great but hers was out of this world. Although the food was good, the atmosphere and service were lacking, which is why Dalesandro's fell short from a 5 star rating. As I said, the restaurant was still fairly busy and it was extremely LOUD. It was difficult to talk with my girlfriend just across the table. Also, our server was fairly slow and not very personable. It may have been because she appeared to be one of the only servers and was very busy, but either way, it was less than adequate (especially at Dalesandro's higher price point). I would definitely come back for another visit, though I may wait until it warms up a little so I can sit on the large patio away from the crowded restaurant/bar area.

It's always a great dining experience at Dalesandro's. The service is nice & friendly. And the prices are reasonable for the potions they serve. Everything I've tried here is quite tasty. But, I especially love the lasagna. They also serve an amazing Caesar salad accompanied by a basket of fresh bread. The next time you're in the mood for quality Italian cuisine, do yourself a favor & give them a try.

Dalesandro's is without a doubt one of my favorite places in Tulsa. This family operated restaurant has some of the best Italian food... in the world. I've been lucky enough to get to visit Italy, and I would choose the food here over anything I had there hands down. Yuh. It's that good. Don't skip the Caesar salad. It's perfectly crisp and fresh with shredded parmesan. If they sold the dressing, I'd buy several gallons at a time! This with the complimentary bread is the perfect way to start a meal here. I've never had something I didn't love for an entree, but I fell head over heels for the carbanera pasta recently. Portion sizes are big; share with a friend. My half of the pasta filled me up so well. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the sauce was creamy but not heavy at all - just perfect. Atmosphere here can't be beat. You can come dressed up, or a little casual. My favorite place to sit is on the amazing patio complete with beautiful lighting.

If you are looking for superb Italian in Tulsa, you will find it at Dalesandro's. The restaurant itself is beautiful and they have a spacious patio area. As many have mentioned, the Caesar Salad is divine. It is huge! And the dressing is different than the standard creamy caesar. It seems lighter but has just as much (if not more) flavor than you would expect of a caesar dressing. Our waiter was very helpful when we were having a hard time deciding what to order (but don't worry, everything is delicious). Next time you have a hankering for Italian, you need to get on down to Dalesandro's!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
