Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I wrote a review fairly recently for the other Chimi's on 15th, which has experienced a major slide in service in the last few years. I don't notice the same thing with this location. I love Chimi's for it's simple tex-med favorites. It's always a great place to take people who aren't super into Mexican food but agree to go just because you love it (nearly everyone I take to Chimi's is just going to appease me). The food is still really good, and the chicken tortilla soup is great. I love the spicier of the two salsas they normally serve, and the white queso is super yummy--creamy, not TOO cheesy and a great mix with some salsa. The have a great lunch menu in addition to the menu of larger dishes served for dinner. I also have to mention the EXCELLENT drink prices. It's $2 for beers, including Mexican beers, which is a great deal. This location doesn't have a bar that you can sit at, but they do still have the full range of drinks, so you can grab a margarita or a beer with your meal. If you're in the 51st and Harvard area and don't want to deal with the rush of people and traffic at surrounding restaurants, Chimi's is a great place to have a casual tex-med meal.

Absolutely the WORST mexican food ive ever had. I am from Houston, TX and had someone recommend this place as one of the best in Tulsa, so my mother daughter and I tried it. When we asked the waiter about the food he told us most of it was frozen, gross! None of us could barley force ourselves to eat our food. Definitely do not recommended this place to anyone, very very poor mexican food!

I would say 3.5 to 4. Excellent Flautas! Pretty good guac. I have tried some enchiladas too and have not been disappointed. I have visited about 10 or 12 times over the last year. We even started ordering takeout online for lunch at the office. Not fancy or "ta-da " kind of place. Good hot food, efficient servers, and reasonably priced.

This place has really come a long way with the new ownership. Not sure how long ago it got bought out, but it just gets better and better every time I come. They give you a few different salsas to choose from with the free chips, but my favorite has always been the picante. Get the yellow queso too! So good! Some people prefer the white queso, but yellow has always been my favorite(I think it even has bacon in it!) My all time favorite tacos are the traditional tacos.. I think the meat is deep fried or something! Delicious! I love all their enchiladas but my favorites are the chili verde and shrimp. On healthy days(not that I have many of those.. lol) I always get the seafood soup, ceviche, or shrimp cocktail. Definitely try them out.. I need to stop talking about their food because Im getting hungry!

I love Chimi's (I love all their food), and I hate just giving this Chimis only 2 stars, but their service is severely lacking (similar to my experience with the 81st street Chimi's). My sister and I came on a Thursday night and it was busy, granted, but it took forever for a waitress to come to our table and bring our chips and salsa. Then she forgot we ordered guacomole as an appetizer (our entrees already came to the table when I reminded her). Then my chimi doesn't have sour cream, so I kindly ask her for a side of sour cream. She forgets. I let it go. Then I ask for a refill of water. She forgets. Then I ask for our dessert in a to-go box, since we are too full. She forgets and brings it on the regular plate. I finally get fed up, so I put the dessert in my food box, and just pay and leave. She didn't get a 20% standard tip from me--only a 10%, but I really didn't even want to give her that. I understand that the wait staff is probably underpaid and overworked (it looks like they need more people there to bring out chips and salsa and drinks). I am just disappointed. I love Chimi's, but I really don't want to come back to this one after this experience. I will go to the Cherry Street Chimi's, where service is always good.

I eat out daily and this is one of my favorite restaurants in Tulsa. I always have enough left over for lunch the next day. And a great lunch at that. Friday nights can be pretty busy so there is always a lot of help on hand every one of whom had a lovely welcoming smile when I arrived there last night. My meal, Sour cream chicken enchiladas was wonderful, one of my favorites. I have eaten at least half a dozen different meals on their menu and they have all been excellent. They do all they can to make my meals with them on Harvard an enjoyable and memorable experience and I look forward to many more.

?Where do I start? This place was a favorite of mine (&Mrs) before we moved away. Realllly loved the queso with the bacon flavor in it. Not the new white which is great too. Bacon tastes good with anything! I even had the pleasure of eating "chicken fried bacon" while in Texas, tho not a a fair just an old diner.(Yes, this will give anyone 3rd degree heartburn) Any whooo I have to laugh about one thing that has not changed at Chimis. They will not let you have a steak knife or a sharp knife to cut into your deep fried Chimichanga or slice any fresh Serrano's ( I am a lover of the hot shit, sometimes even bringing my own peppers to a restaurant) for that matter. Sooooo mash that butter knife into your chimi and saw away at it! In the 'old days' when I was a regular a nice waitress named Natalie would someone manage to sneak me a steak knife from the kitchen. Miss ya Nat!!
