This is my favorite restaurant in Stillwater, and I've patronized Thai Cafe since it opened. Pros: The food - Stillwater's most sophisticated flavors. Coconut Chicken, Pad Thai, Curry, the salad with peanut dressing, soups, it's all great. I order to go mostly and the food is generally ready within 20 minutes, sometimes longer. Cons: The Service, To-Go Orders, and square footage/location. The building is the old Del Rancho, surrounded by a chewed up parking lot and lots of concrete. The building is small and, due to its popularity, there's significant lag during peak times of the day. It is near the OSU campus, and there are few places that would beat the location, it's just that that whole block just looks...rough. It would require an investment in landscape and decor. The dine-in experience for 2 or more is guaranteed 1+ hour. The servers rotate fairly quickly and it doesn't appear that there is an implemented training program. The restaurant will get 5 stars when they implement systems such as to educate service staff for an optimal overall performance and reduce wait times.

Wow. Great food, fast and friendly service, plenty to eat with a soup and salad with dinner. I had the General Tso chic. Very good. Will be back again the next time I am in town, for sure.

So so good! Tons of veggie options so a huge plus for me! Good value for money too- the entree comes with a soup and a salad. Soup was also very flavorful. Definitely heading back when I am in the area next time.

This is definitely not an authentic Thai restaurant but a great start. There are some Thai dishes on a chef special board at the entrance but the table menu is almost all Chinese food. If you are from the big city and familiar with authentic thai cuisine then you may want to look over the menu and ask questions because I did not and felt kinda rushed to order, because there was no thai food I could see on the menu. The common thai selections (fresh spring rolls, pad Thai, panang curry, etc) appear unavailable. Some of the menu items such as mandarin chicken may contain corn starch and/or deep fried, so if you are seeking a gluten free low calorie low fat meal, make sure you ask ahead. I gave it three stars because of these drawbacks. In the city it would be a one star. Interior decor is excellent but was a bit dark. Outside is meh used to be a hardees. I visited an hour before closing on Monday.

We really enjoyed this restaurant on a visit back to Stillwater last weekend! The exterior seems a little sketchy - you can tell it's been many types of restaurants over the years. Driving up, I was a bit wary! Inside, it's quite nice with textured walls and excellent decor. My husband and I both ordered the green curry with chicken. It was very good! Since I eat Paleo, I skipped the rice, but my husband said it was really good as well! Please don't let the exterior scare you - try it out!

Just ok for me. My friends seem to like them. A little too sweet for my taste.

Disappointing. Thom kha soup was flavorless. Portions were huge...too huge. Not too pricey, but not impressive.

Okay folks, after my first experience with eating at this restaurant, I'm hooked!!! Great dishes with great flavor! My first trip I ordered the Honey Chicken at a level 2 and it was very good and NOT as spicy as I was imagine, so on my next trip I bumped it up to level 4 and it was GREAT!!! If you are in Stilly town make it a point to eat at this restaurant! You won't be disappointed.

I ate lunch here by myself today and thought it was very good the meal was really good and full of flavor. It was pretty busy but I was well taken care of and the food was presented to me quickly and on a very unique dish which was nice. It was well priced for the amount of food I recieved (10 dollars with a tip and tax) I have been before and will look forward to going again.

I was a little skeptical about a Thai place in Stillwater, but both food and service was exceptional! Curries were a little unusual, with a creamier base, but very flavorful and you could taste the freshness of the ingredients. We also had a Tom Kha soup - exceptional and enough to share between two people. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a delicious meal in Stillwater

Awesome Thai food, cheap prices and large portions, I recommend massaumum curry, chicken pad Thai, cocunit crusted shrimp,

Great find! The ambiance and food were top notch. My waiter sucking was the only reason you don't see 5 stars. An osu student that thought he could remember my order rather then writing it down. Not even close.. beat part though was when he told me he "fucked up" Classic!

Made first visit to Thai Cafe on Saturday and was was quite impressed. It is nicely decorated and the ambience was very nice. The service was outstanding. Our server, Alex, was the bomb! I ordered the Thai Kung Pao stir fry which was very fresh and tasty. I ordered a 3 on the spice level but will kick it up to a 4 on the next visit. The ginger dressing on the salad was very nice and the vegetable soup that accompanied the meal was very good as well. Having never visited here, I was pleasantly surprised. This is a jewel on the prairie.

Thai cafe is my absolute favorite place to eat ever. I love every dish I have ever eaten from there, which is a ton considering I worked there 2 years ago. The coconut crusted chicken is amazing, tofu fried rice is excellent, Singapore curry noodles are great and I have never ever found ginger dressing that is as tasty and addicting as at Thai cafe. The mussaman curry is really good and I love their vegetable soup. I live far away now, but I crave their rice and ginger dressing weekly. Yum.

Thai Cafe is ok. The big deal about it is, it's in Stillwater - which has few ethnic restaurants. But apart from the peanut sauce salad dressing, I've never been impressed by the food, and I've eaten there several times. The ambience is good.

My wife & I come eat here every time we're in town & we've yet to be disappointed. I especially like the red curry dishes. It was renovated a couple years ago, both the building & the menu. Very nice experience all around. Highly recommended!

According to yelp, it's BBQ????? No BBQ here folks. Just absolutely perfect Thai food. Awesome chef (yes a real chef), great wait staff, great atmosphere.

  • Angel C.

The Thai Cafe is delicious! It has a great menu with daily specials. Of course, they have your basic curries, but they also have a great selection of other entrees and desserts. Vegetarians and meat-eaters alike will find something they enjoy. The portions are big and the taste is great. I always manage to have leftovers from my meal, so it makes this an even better deal. For the price of going to a chain restaurant, we get great food from a local place. We always have fantastic service here, and have never had a huge wait. Go here....you won't be disappointed!

The food here is mediocre at best. However the staff is completely incompetent. Some coworkers and I called in a carry out order for lunch and when we arrived they asked us what we had ordered and what spice level we wanted. I then asked if they had even started our order, they informed us that they had given our order to a different customer. And they it would take about 20 minutes to make it again. They didn't even apologize for their mistake.

Only food I've enjoyed in Stillwater. Almost want to give it a 5 star just compared to other restaurants I've tried out here. Pad Thai. Ordered spicy but wasn't spicy at all. Mild at most. I'm not even a big fan of ultra spicy food and ordered spicier than I normally would because I figured they'd tone it down for the clientele. Still disappointed. Strong taste of ketchup or sweet tomatoes in my pad thai. I could tolerate it, but by the end it was getting a little funky. Other than that it tasted fine. Not anywhere close to the best pad thai I've had but also not the worst. Spring rolls were a waste. Too tiny. Fried ice cream was pretty good. Thai Iced Tea was good and a decent serving size.

Had lunch at Thai Cafe for the first time. My coworker recommended it & said it was one of the better Asian restaurants in Stillwater. I don't frequent Stillwater a whole lot so I can't backup his outrageous claim, but I must say the food was good. The service was prompt & friendly. The ambiance overall was comfortable and inviting. There wasn't any hair or bone in my food. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that I wasn't completely blown away by the food...at least not yet. I'd like to give it another try before going full blown 5 star. I ordered the coconut crusted chicken which came drizzled in a sweet sweet/tangy sauce a rather small scoop of rice. I don't know what it is about coconut, but you could pretty much cover any food in crusted coconut & I'd love it! It will probably one day be my undoing! It also comes with a side of broccoli which seems really standard, but if there is one vegetable that can be easily & frequently screwed up its broccoli. For some reason a lot of places overcook...this was not the case. Props to the chef for rockin' that broccoli. Prices were reasonable. Long story short, if I'm back in Stillwater I would definitely consider Thai Cafe again.

They were closed but now there back. The food here is okay, always with a lot of salt and little developed flavor. I can't really suggest you make a b-line for this establishment, but if you're in the mood for Thai food, you'll get it here.

    (3)
  • Leanne T.

Soup and salad was not very good. That's why only giving 4 starts. My chicken stir fry was really yummy though, and the waiter was very nice! It is pretty pricey though.

It had been several years since I'd been to Thai Cafe before I went back this weekend. First the bad parts--We had a party of 7 and they ended up having to split us up because all of their large tables had just been seated. This would have been fine if they would have seated us next to one another (there were three booths open and they seated us with the extra booth in the middle). I honestly remember the food being better than what it was. The soup was good. The salad was just lettuce with watered down vinaigrette on it. My General Tso's chicken was good, but not the best I've ever had. Everyone else in my party was really pleased with their food though, so maybe this pregnancy has caused my taste buds to change... I almost forgot to mention that when we were first served our drinks, my husband's water had a disgusting taste to it. We are guessing the glass was dirty and that's what caused it as the next water they brought tasted fine.

  • Macaria D.

We were seated quickly. I had the General Tso's Chicken (5 Star). The food was great and came out fairly quickly. The server was friendly and was very accommodating. He clarified our order to make sure we were getting what we wanted and did a great job!

  • Iris J.

The building looks plain from the outside. But as soon as you walk in? It's clean, minimal but tastefully decorated. Food was excellent, great service. Too many great stuff in the menu to choose from, make you want to order everything on the menu! We are definitely coming back. Give this place a try!

Thai Cafe just might be my favorite restaurant in Stillwater. I didn't try the place for the first four years of my stay in town, and it's something I'll regret till the day I die. (My tastebuds were still immature, unwilling to try such exotic food.) My go-to meal is General Tso's chicken as spicy as I can get it with a double helping of the egg drop soup because I don't like the salad dressings. I have had other meals, though, and each one was delicious. The General Tso's is just so tangy sweet and kicks hard. The egg drop soup is rich and flavorful, just needs an extra bit of pepper in my opinion. In the last six months or so Thai Cafe has started offering bubble tea. This made me very happy to hear because I love bubble tea. I've tried the green tea and chai tea varieties and wasn't disappointed with either. If you have never tried bubble tea, go out on a limb and give it a go. Finally, this last time my wife and I got an appetizer of gyoza (fries wantons filled with pork and cabbage). I typically don't go for things like this (egg rolls, spring rolls, etc.), but it was yummy. From now till eternity every visit of mine to Stillwater will include a stop at this heavenly restaurant.

Another excellent meal. All 5 of us were very happy! Jalapeño chicken is outstanding with great presentation also. A first timer went with us she loved her Thai Kung pao chicken. Also the ginger salad dressing. Go your love it

I was not expecting to be thrilled with Thai but when we got inside it smelled delicious?! The food and service was awesome and I was blown away at how yummy it all was. Took the rest home because I ate until I couldn't anymore and I definitely want to finish it later!

This place is OK. The actual thai food -- pad thai, for example -- is not the best. It's really not your classic pad thai, and the only reason people like it is because they don't know anything better in Stillwater. But the curries are OK now and then. The massaman curry has a nice flavor. Just be aware that they pack it with potatoes and onions -- cheap vegetables. I'm constantly disappointed this is the best Thai you can get in Stilly. It's really not anything special. Multiple times the appetizers have been cold when they've come to the table. Service is good and prices are fair, though.

Very good food! I just picked up a to-go order but next time I'd like to dine in and enjoy the place. The Bangkok Spice was good. On my 1-5 heat scale, I played it safe and went with a 2, but that didn't have any noticeable spice at all, so I'll amp it up a bit the next time.

I don't know. The other reviews are glowing. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I was at OSU in Stillwater for a work thing for a few weeks, and I NEEDED massaman curry. Too bad. I probably should have needed pad thai or something. I ordered takeout, and the restaurant seemed nice enough on the inside. It's in an old Church's Chicken (from the look of it), but they've updated the interior nicely. I also think that re-appropriation of unused city spaces is great. So, good job for that. But the curry. Ugh. It wasn't even really curry - just spicy coconut milk with some peanuts. When I've ordered massaman curry before, I'm used to a lot more flavors, like lime, peanuts, cardamom, bay leaves maybe, and DEFINITELY turmeric. Maybe that's what this was missing - turmeric. The curry was this gross, pussy color (PLEASE FIX THIS). Turmeric would have fixed that. Made it a more deep, yellow/orange color, streaked through with red from the spice. The potatoes were...there, but they were fried. The onions were present in plentitude. And even worse, the chicken was boiled. Boiled chicken makes me ill. I hate the way the exterior has sealed and when you bite into it, the slick exterior pops against your teeth, and as you chew, the boiled pieces stick to your molars and make this sticking noise as your teeth separate....it's just awful. I had to throw it away. Thank Jesus it was paid for with a per diem.

Trying this again, yelp's filters hate my reviews for some inane reason. This is my favorite restaurant in Stillwater. Friendly staff, good service, and outstanding food. Need I say more? I would recommend the calimari appetizer. I have tried all of the curries, and a couple of the stir-frys as well. All have been very good. When people visit me, Thai Cafe is always on the list of places we'll go. Highly recommend!

I was visiting friends in Stillwater and they took me here for dinner one evening. The food is delicious and the good taste carried over into the leftovers as well! I had the Basil Fried Rice (hmm-hmmm good), and I tried my friends' Orange Chicken Stir Fry (dessert for dinner! It was really good) and one of the curry noodle dishes (also good and just spicy enough.) The egg drop soup was a little salty for my tastes, but it was good. And the ginger dressing on the salad was quite refreshing. I'll definitely ask to eat here again, when I'm visiting Stillwater. The service was good, in that everyone (including the owner) paid attention to our table & drink needs.

I like the Thai Cafe. I always just order the a big bowl of the Thai veggie soup that comes with your meal, but my boyfriend has tried several of their stir-fry dishes & likes them. Fast service with nice ambiance. The food isn't mind-blowing, but consistent & good.

Whoa! I'm not even sure how this place is even rated 4 stars? I came in during lunch on weekday and the place although was not busy, did a few have a diners. I was greeted by a nice young girl who promptly sat me and took my drink order and got it out to me pretty quickly. I ordered the vegetable Pad See Ew (one of my favorite thai noodle dishes) The lunch menu comes with a soup (vegetable or egg drop) and a salad with either peanut or balsamic (i think?). I got the vegetable and salad with peanut dressing. The soup was ok, not much really to talk about. The peanut dressing tastes like, well just peanut butter. My favorite Thai restaurant's peanut dressing has just a hint of peanut butter in it and tastes mostly like honey mustard and I love it. This just takes like peanut butter. Not a fan. Then my entree came. It was really just nasty. I could not stomach more than two bites. It smelled weird and just tastes really bad. I have never had such bad Thai food, ever....Maybe they don't make good padsee ew, maybe I should have tried something different. But I'm not going back to this place again....Needless to say, I left hungry and out $10. Had to pick up hotdog down the street. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I don't live in Stillwater so I wouldn't be able to recommend a better Thai restaurant.

Thai Café has delicious food, a nice atmosphere, and good service. I loved going to this place when I was in college, and now I have trouble finding Thai restaurants that match up to the food and value. They are usually pretty busy for dinner so if you don't want to wait, order ahead for take-out. I recommend any of their noodle dishes and some of the curries are good too. The spring rolls are worth getting if you want an appetizer. The portions are generous, and I usually have leftovers. This is the only Thai place in Stillwater and it's delicious, but I would love to see more Asian restaurants in the city.

  • Starla R.

We love this place. The coconut crusted shrimp & chicken are our faves. Only complaint is that since the chicken gets sliced before it is served, it ends up a little dry... And sometimes the rice is overcooked. But everything else is delicious. We usually get good service, although we went late one night and our waiter seemed to forget to bring us our ticket... Still, one of the few good restaurants in Stillwater.

Best Thai I have found in Oklahoma. Basil Fried Rice, Gyoza, Coconut Crusted Chicken, Tom Yum Gai are some of our favorites. I lived in Dallas for a few years and the Thai restaurants down there were great. Now I live in Tulsa and can't find a good one. So, occasionally, we make the drive to Stillwater to eat here.

I will travel hours to go here and get my Thai fix. I worked here while in college and never got tired of the food. It's a great atmosphere, you get a lot of food for your money and the customer service is fantastic! The owners are as sweet as can be and will do anything to make sure you have a fantastic experience. The menu is always being updated and the food is consistently amazing.

YUM! Who would have thought that delicious Thai food could be found in Stillwater, OK? In the area on business and looking for a place that offered good carryout and this place had the best reviews. Had a lot of vegetarian options, but ended up ordering pad thai with tofu and no cashews or peanuts of any kind. They were fine with the request and the result was really delicious. I ate some for dinner, had leftovers for lunch the next day and still had food left! Well worth the $10 or $11 cost. I asked for medium spicy and probably should have gone with hot -- I LOVE spicy. The restaurant itself was kind of dumpy on the outside but really nice on the inside. Appropriate for a romantic dinner. They rushed my order since I wanted carryout and it only took them about 10 minutes.

  • Angela R.

I know I've already written one pretty bad review about this place, but I ate here tonight. What a terrible mistake! Not only were our salads drowning and soggy (the lettuce was just washed in water, but not spun or dried in any way, which made the dressing roll off. This resulted in a watery puddle on the bottom of each plate), but our dinners were just awful! I couldn't decide on what to order, so I ordered my usual spicy basil stir fry. Our waiter forgot to ask what level of spice to make it, and this resulted in absolutely no spice, and the whole dish had maybe 1 piece of basil in it. So bland and unappealing. I can't believe this place can't put out some hot sauce or sriracha. There are pepper flakes on the table, but then only the bites with peppers in it are flavorful... My friend got a noodle dish. The sauce was the exact same flavorless brown stuff that was on my stir fry and the noodles and veggies in it were MUSHY and overcooked. Really, you didn't even have to chew, if you didn't want to. The service was fine and our chicken satay appetizer was prettly good, but that's really not enough on its own. Both meals were bad. I hope never to eat here again.

My favorite restaurant in Stillwater! The atmosphere, the staff, the food...is wonderful; as well as the price! For lunch you can get two orders of amazing chicken curry (I recommend the "massaman curry") a bowl of soup-your choice veggie or egg drop (egg drop is amazing) a side salad with a dressing of your choice (I recommend the peanut) all this for a little over $16. This meal for dinner would be around $20. The cold chai is amazing as well as their array of hot teas. The staff, mostly college students, are always warm and professional. The owners walk around and often converse with customers.

  • Jonathan W.

The food here was fine -- nothing special. I ordered chicken fried rice for dinner (as in the dish usually served as a side dish at Kyoto or a hibachi style restaurant). It tasted fine, but was very overpriced (around $10) for a little bit of chicken, rice, and vegetables. Honestly, you pay more for the ambiance than the quality of the food, in my opinion. However, if you are looking for vegetarian dishes, I did notice a good selection (which are hard to find in Stillwater).

  • Callie F.

I really like Thai Cafe. The food is so delicious and the ambiance is wonderful for such a neat space. My only beef with this joint is the service. Many times i've been there, the servers seem to be overloaded and not very attentive to their tables. I don't mind too much because the food is worth it. Try the coconut crusted chicken or the curry!
